Review The Hub@port Fairy - Port Fairy

Lunch was pretty good, we had the seafood platter which was $22 really good value as coming with 2 prawns, 2 fried fish, 4 mussels, salad and chips. And my daughter had the pasta, sauce was tasty but the noodle itself was a bit soggy. The local white wines were very nice, generally a good affordable lunch eatery

Ok, you walk in and the place seems somewhat underwhelming, unitll you receive your food !! Honestly this is quite possibly the BEST chicken parmy I have ever had and then to top it off it was only $20 !! My God. That's for the parmy, great chips and great salad. Top notch !! And owners if you see this....please never change how you do your schnitzel, most places just use frozen ordered in Inghams garbage. Highlight this as one of your signature dishes !! And my partner, she has a chicken schnitzel wrap and absolutely loved it, she said it was the best ever. It was big serves of both dishes and extremely reasonable prices. Couldn't recommend this place enough, go there no matter how far away you are !!! We were full for hours. Seriously, the photos don't do the food justice, was truly amazing.

Large cafe selling all the usual cafe foods and drinks. Delicious desserts. Hot chocolate is nice too.

Good grub, fast service, plenty of seating to choose from, and reasonable prices. We were driving through on our way to Mt Gambier and took a little detour to check out the town, stopped by a late lunch, and found this little slice of home. We would recommend it to many a fellow tourist.

Very welcoming staff! Great customer service. I had one of the breakfast specials and it was amazing. Lots of room for small or large groups of people. This place is a must visit in Port Fairy.

Very pleasant surroundings and staff but service so painfully SLOW! After 20 minutes and my coffee going cold, I had to remind them of my food order (the restaurant was only a quarter full). The following day I just went in for 2 takeaway coffees and again another painfully long wait. Barista needs to work with more sense of purpose!

honestly quite a bad experience. food was mediocre at best, not a good variety and could barely accommodate with vegetarian/vegan restrictions. most of the food was sold out even though we went at midday. unhygienic area- staff would not clean up tables after you left, there was lots of stuff on the floor, the biscuits/cakes looked ancient. overall was an unwelcoming feel. staff would stare you down, unenthusiastically greet you, we’re not helpful, and there was a manager who would play favourites, even though the ‘kitchen was closed.’

A busy place for breakfast. Service was good, food was reasonable (good value for money), although my raisin toast was tough and cardboardy. Staff very casually dressed - it was clear there was no policy on appropriate clothing. Hygiene was obviously something that needed to be urgently fixed! I watched one staff member sniff and wipe his nose with his hand then proceed to put knives and forks into a little packet - ugh! Sanitiser? What's that??! Put me right off. Not going back there again.

My partner and I went here for breakfast this morning. It was okay but not what I would expect from a cafe. I got served baked beans that were obviously from a can. Very bizarre.

Went there on the weekend with friends. Would have rated higher if I didn’t find a human hair in my dish. Reported to the waitress straight away, the girl asked if I wanted another one and I said no as I was already disgusted. Won’t go again.

When ordering a sparkling mineral water I asked for a glass, was given a glass with a beer label. Ordered a Prawn Asian style salad, the prawns had tails and heads. When I asked for a finger bowl the young waitress brought an empty bowl. The salad dressing was a commercial one. It was so bad I could not eat the salad. Every time the young waitress came out of the kitchen she was eating a potato wedge. This place has no idea, bad service and food.

Bruscheeta breakfast was disappointing
The turkish bread was soft warm and soggy.
I was expeting crunchy grilled bread.as the nsme duggests Instead it folded in on itself and the topping fell off.
The royale ( without capers ) was better and bread toasted. Lashings of commercial hollandaise sauce
Fantastic food had a falafel wrap and garlic prawns followed by carrot cake. Wasn't expecting much but actually food was perfect. Even let me add a flat head to the food! Great place highly recommend.
Coffee And Food
Having short break at Port Fairy. Walked past this cafe and they are busy. Had a burger with chips, not too bad but the meat a bit over cooked and specialty calamari. The salad dressing was awful, taste like a bit off. Saw the pastry and cakes, look like sitting there for ages. This cafe have a good potential to build the business in great locations and spaces but seen they don't bother about the business. The most important thing in hospitality is SMILE and service.

Great little place with will cooked seafood. Had lunch here with my partner. We got the seafood platter special for $20. It had flat head tall, prawns, salt and pepper squid, smoked salmon, chips and salad. Everything was really nice, especially the prawns. Pity I don't live around here or else I would be a regular. Friendly service too. Yum yum!

Went to 'The Hub' a couple of times on my last visit to Port Fairy. Can't fault the place on anything - Good and friendly service, the food is lovely, great hot beverages (including an impressive selection of tea's). I personally had the barramundi with a tasty aoli, which was beautiful. Highly recommended!

My husband, 2 kids and I, stumbled across The Hub when other cafés/restaurant menus didn't really grab us. As soon as we walked through the door, a gentleman (possibly the manager) made us feel welcome and important. He moved furniture around for us so my 3 year old could see the TV which was on channel 22 (toddlers channel). My husband and daughter both ordered the open steak sandwich. My husband, a bit of a steak sandwich connoisseur, thought it was "beautiful". My daughter didn't realise it was 'open' so wasn't sure how to 'attack' it. The gentleman must have noticed her expression and came over and offered to 'put a lid on it' for her. He then took the sandwich away and returned with the fillings between two slices of thick-cut white toast. She was delighted and dove in immediately. I ordered the chicken parmigiana which was to die for. The neapolitana sauce was amazing and the chicken was juicy and tender and not too heavily battered.
Service was wonderful, the menu items are all great value for money and the general feel of the place was happy and relaxed.
The only suggestion I would make is for healthier options on the kids menu. Nuggets/chicken and chips, pizza and chips, fish and chips and spaghetti are generally the only options provided on almost all menus I've ever seen so it would be really refreshing to see other options. Perhaps a vegetable platter arranged in the shape of a house for example.
Anyway, we were all super impressed with The Hub. It's a shame we live on the other side of the country, otherwise this place would definitely be a regular.
We'll definitely be back next time we visit beautiful Port Fairy.

I can honestly say the Hub is my favorite place for Breakfast. I always order the pancakes with berries and ice cream and every single time I am in heaven. I am a small eater however when I start those delicious pancakes I do not stop until they are all gone! We bring family and friends here and they have all LOVED the food. The coffee I must say is incredibly good. I've never drank coffee until my fiancé gave me a taste of his caramel latte at the hub and now every time I visit, I have coffee. We have also enjoyed dining in for lunch and we would recommend the hub to everyone. We have now become regulars.

Seafood dinner. My husband and I ate here on a Friday night. We both love seafood and they lived up the seafood name! Oysters Kirkpatrick for entree - one word - amazing! Very fresh. Main we had the seafood platter and the beer battered flat head - both we're great dishes - beer batter was the best I think we have ever had! Would go back again. Very popular cafe on the corner.

Huge portions! Fish and chips were delicious. Veggie lasagna was to die for. This place is a must when you find yourself in Port Fairy.
