Review Makimoto - Port Macquarie

We ordered take-away several times and taste is very consistent, so, well done! We haven't dined in yet but outside, there's always someone waiting to buy, so that means business must be good. And I will always love sushi. In fact, that's what I only had for my birthday this year aside from the cake. Thanks!

Lots of customers when I arrived which is always a good sign. Especially if seafood is on the menu. Everything was fresh and prepared very quickly after the order was placed. I had the Udon combo B which at $19.90 is good value. They have counter seating if you're alone. Yes I would return. The ordering is via an app which is kind of straight forward after you work it out.

Entree came after our main meal, no knife or fork with steak, no cups with our sparkling water, spicy pork too oily.... why can't we get plates? We got mini plates for entrees then had to ask for another 2 plates for mains... unfortunately won't be hurrying to come back. Booked for 6pm told to vacate by 7.30.... ok... but when we got there they said 7... 🤔 I questioned it and apologies were made. Ps tempura prawns were not eaten, too soggy and arrived after mains.

So glad we decided to pop in and have dinner at this restaurant while we were passing through. Huuuge delish sushi rolls that were jam packed with fish! We ordered two rolls and the edamame and we were stuffed. If we are ever back in Port Mac, we’ll be sure to visit. Thanks MakiMoto!

Sit up at the bar and watch the sushi chef do his thing if you get a chance. Prices may seem excessive but it is completely worth it when you see the size and quality delivered.

It's okay if you are craving sushi at Port Macquarie. Certainly not bad by any stretch of the imagination but not great either. I felt that the rice was far too sticky where it got stuck to the plate. The seafood was not flavoursome either sadly. Another thing I feel I should mention is that I was not offered table water.

It's our second time trying this restaurant. Give it another try this year, hoping it was better than last year. We avoided raw seafood this year. ( don't want to elaborate further..hair nets will be good for kitchen stuff) We tried all cooked food this year, Tempura udon, baby sushi, egg sushi and Terriyaki chicken. Terriyaki was extremely salty and we have to deep it in our soup to blend it out to eat. We were surprised 2 nagari rolls and baby rolls came out last and have to chase the order, or they have missed the order given the restaurant was closed to empty. Tempura was the best. It was crispy and hot on arrival. We were ask to sit on bar stools when the sitting have close to half empty restaurant. I think the restaurant focus more on takeaway than sit down and dine customer.

Fantastic dinner here last night - exceeded expectations. Dishes were all well presented and very tasty. Bang bang prawns for starters were delicious and had a bit of a kick. We both indulged in sukiyaki for our mains and it was great (and a surprise to be able to get it!) Nice selection of sake as well. Dishes were priced fairly and the service was quick and friendly.
