Always great, personable service from Al and team, consistently good food, loads of craft beer and local wine choices. We love this place and highly recommend it. Especially nice place to have a drink and an entree overlooking the water in the summer. Can get busy though so make sure you book and quality takes time, but we have never had a problem with meals or service taking too long.
Amazing food, service and awesome selection of craft beers that I couldn't get enough of. Definitely recommend the Ho Mok Talay for any seafood lovers! Will be coming back for sure.

Came for dinner last night. Sat outside and the view was gorgeous. This place is expensive Thai so we were hoping for a good meal and it didn’t disappoint. We got spring rolls, massamum curry and the lemongrass prawn stir fry and they were all really delicious. We had to buy four serves of rice for the two of us and even then it wasn’t enough. Really stingy with the rice, we had to finish our meal off without rice because we were not ordering more. The beer was also not very cold. But overall it was a really good meal. Not sure if we would be back in a hurry just because of the price but excellent food!
Staff are lovely and attentive; I feel they have put thought into their restaurant.
There are some great dishes to choose from, and the meals we had (mine was lemongrass I think), were great and plentiful.
Would definitely come back.
How good is Thai food. Tried the Pad Krapao for something different and loved it. Not every Thai dish I eat involves me devouring everything in the take away container and then drinking the liquid goodness at the bottom. Next time and there will be a next time we mite eat in.
I had a meal here while on business in Adelaide and it's some of the best Thai I've had in a while.
I say out on the balcony watching the sunset over the ocean so the vista was superb.
Unfortunately the place was super busy and a mix up between the staff meant the food was a bit slow getting out to me but the ambience of the sunset meant I didn't really care! The guy was super apologetic so all good.
I had satay chicken entree and super hot green chicken curry. Safe choices but they were superb. Spicy, fresh and full of flavour.
I wish they were closer to home!

Fantastic. We have eaten here a couple of times now and intend to keep going back. Ampikas Kitchen offers great service, the freshest of food and value for money and the ambience is second to none. As locals we are very spoilt for choice for restaurants in the Port Noarlunga area but this one is right up there and not to be missed.
Superb lunch - mothers day 2014. After reading the reviews (regarding the service) before we went to the new location of Ampika's I was a bit worried about the service with the comments written below - being a busy day Mothers Day. We knew the food was good as dined many times in Willunga.
The new staff were fantastic, service was good and the food was above excellent. New location - brilliant with a nice walk out on the jetty after. So this will not disappoint, best Thai food and service down South. Good work guys cant wait to come back
My 3 friends and i just had some takeaway... amazing. But, be warned... it is a realistic heat. hot means hot, and if you have tom yum, remember no coconut milk means medium can be hot also... my Laksa was beautiful and my mrs had the drunken noodles which was also delicious! Awesome new Thai restaurant! Will be back again!!

Sensational. Fantastic Thai food. I really liked it. Finally a good Thai restaurant in Willunga-McLaren Vale area. This is not an imitation Thai food take away restaurant. The chef is from Thailand and her cuisine is authentic, delicious, and full of flavor. I highly recommend it and will definitely go back.

Usually too lazy to comment but this was worth the effort. Whilst holidaying in South Australia from Queensland I happened across Ampika’s Kitchen on my way back from a day sampling wines in the region. It looked quite interesting having a Thai restaurant in a heritage listed building so I thought I would test it out. That turned out to be a good move as the food and service did not disappoint.
I was met by Al the owner; a most interesting and amusing chap, who sure knew how to make me feel extremely welcome. I initially sat outside soaking up the McLaren Vale views whilst I decided on what to have over some of my previously purchase wine from Tatachilla. For the entree I went for the Money Bags and could not go past the sound of Ampika’s signature dish of Ho Mok Talay. As it started to cool Al showed me inside to my table where I had a chance to look around at the retro décor mixed with interesting pieces from Thailand.
Wasn’t long and I had my Money Bags which were nice and authentic, but it was the Ho Mok Talay that really blew me away. It was a huge mixture of seafood and veggies in a coconut red curry cooked to perfection, with flavours that really gave my mouth a party. I have eaten many a Thai dish but Ampika is genuinely a very talented Thai cook whose food knowledge must be enormous. The flavours were in perfect balance hitting all the notes, I was more than happy and important for me, it was not a scabby little dish either. Had a great night, recommend it to all lovers of Thai cuisine.

Just A Lucky Find. Spotted this restaurant when on a sunday drive last weekend and decided to return on our way home and try it out. Well we just loved the quirkey furnishings and started with a very nice coffee while we perused the menu. My partner had the Spring Rolls which were the best she had ever had and the Salt and Pepper Chicken and thoughly enjoyed it. I went for the Curry Puffs which were devine and the Pad Thai which was so much better than any I have had before. We found the proprietors to be passionate about a good dining experience for all their customers.
We will certainly return soon even though its over an hours trip from Croydon Park where we thought we had found the best Thai Food around untill we happened upon Ampikas Kitchen.
An added bonus for us that we can never seem to escape from our local Thai restaurants was the lack of young children ruining our dining experience as when we go out we don't enjoy screaming kids or toddlers running around the tables, if we wanted that sort of night out we would just go to the local Hotel or Bistro.
What a gem. This little restaurant is an absolute gem, the owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome and are more than willing to cater for your every need. The menu is extensive for such a small restaurant but every thing we tried was delicious. The decor is quirky, it was a bitterly cold day but we were seated next to a roaring fire. Absolutely loved it and will back for more. Well done Ampika and partner, another fine restaurant for the southern vales

After a life time of walking by I finally went it and it didn't disappoint.
Food was good, the staffs service and atentiveness was excellent and you can't beat the veiw of the ocean and jetty.
Highly recommended stopping in if you have never been and enjoy Thai food.
They also allow you to choose your level of spice which is very nice.

This Thai restaurant had maintained its authenticity and the ambiance was very well crafted. We ordered choochi, spring rolls and pad Thai noodles with some rice.

Fantastic Authentic Thai Food! Quaint surrounds in a fabulous location, sit by the fire in winter or watch the sunset outside in summer with local craft beer available in bottle or on tap. We love this place but it is pricey compared to other local eateries, but you pay for what you get and here you're getting some of the best!
