There are two Fish and Chips shops on the main esplanade of Portarlington.
This is my favourite in terms of quality and taste, even at $10.50 for a serve of Fish & Chips. Cooked well and not oily. Their family owned and run "youthful" looking shop is also clean and neat.
But not for service and eating in; very small area, just do take away, plenty of benches on the beachfront just across the street.
Don't event bother expecting some enthusiasm nor smile and don't even brother to asks to use their power point to charge your flat mobile phone after that 3 hr Drive from Melbourne.
Great food, love the pumpkin cakes. Staff were polite and patient. Place was clean. Not badly priced for a fish n chip shop in Portarlington. Give this place a go. Recommended for all.
After being really dissatisfied with our local fish and chip shop, we thought we’d try Boatman’s when the family was down from Melbourne. Boatman’s was great! The fish was thick and not too oily. The chicken burger and the hamburger with the lot was old school and delicious. The chips , dim sims and potato cakes were good too. $54 to feed a family of four was very reasonable. The service was fast and friendly too. Highly recommended for locals and tourists, we’ll be back again, thank you!
Went on a Sunday around lunch time. Delicious and crispy chips!! Flake was slightly oily but flavour still great!
Aside from not having eftpos facilities which is paramount these days (owners really need to this sorted out ASAP) the food was great and very well cooked. The shop is extremely clean and tidy, service and staff were also organised and professional.
Just get an eftpos and you’ll start ticking full stars !!
