Review Lemnos Tavern - Prahran

Angie Bee
After hearing so much about Lemnos, I thought I'd give it a go. I do love Greek food, and I've heard this is top notch. It's a big restaurant that can hold many. It's loud and a little hard to hear yourself think, but the food makes it worthwhile. At first they couldn't find our booking, but found us a table anyway. They're not big tables, so when food came out, it was a tight fit. For entree I had the Tarama and their bread and while the Tarama was delicious, the bread was nothing startling. It's a dense bread, so it does fill you up. Everyone else enjoyed their entree too. The main dishes were all really good. Everything tasted great and all came out in good time and all together, which goes a long way with me. It seems to be a very family orientated/run business, and you can tell they are quite authentic and know how to cook. I would definitely come back here again as there's a good size menu, so you can easily try different things each time you visit. I totally recommend coming here for good Greek food!

One of the best greek restaurant and at all! An always great place to enjoy a full dinner experience: from the amazing and testy food to the most welcoming and warm environment. Highly recommend!

Every aspect of this beautiful authentic Greek restaurant was absolutely amazing. From the service to the food to the experience all 5 star .

Food was average at best, meat quality was really poor with small chopped up pieces of lamb which was full of fat. Cutlets also no longer on the banquet which questions the value for money based on what you get. Seafood was the highlight of the meal, particularly the calamari. Service was good but restaurant felt completely chaotic, a place for groups rather than couples.

Food is fantastic. We had the banquet. Staff were extremly friendly and attentive. Food was delish. My mum is 84 and said it was the best calamari she has ever had. Big call!
Sophie Gabriel
Great food, great people. I go there for birthdays and any celebrations possible. One of the best greek food. I even eat the bread, which I don't normally do. I recommend the tzatziki, kafelotyri, chips, souvlaki and any seafood.

Lemnos Taverna has been my favourite restaurant for 20+ Years. The food and service have always been fantastic. If you want authentic Greek food at a very reasonable price then Lemnos Taverna is the place to go.

Delicious food..included seafood banquet, meat platter plus oysters. Fantastic service & friendly staff. We are definitely returning with more friends to try out authentic Greek food. Opa opa!
Neroli Henderson
Friendly, fun staff that treat you like family, great food at good prices. We tried the $59 p/p banquet and it was full of fresh dips and seafood (large prawns, two types of calamari, octopus, flounder), authentic Greek meats, scrumptious saganaki, Greek salad and desserts. You’re going to have to roll me home but everyone (there’s six of us) thinks it’s a fabulous place and wants to come back soon. Husband suggests not eating for a day before trying the banquet...I think he’s joking...maybe.

My first time at Lemnos last night and it was beautiful! The service was attentive and the food was delicious. We had the banquet and there was no shortage of food for even the biggest appetite. Thank you for a wonderful evening

Especially with its delicious food, friendly staff, excellent service and warm environment, best Greek Restaurant in town by far.

The hospitality was what you'd expect from your closest friends. The food was amazing. Fresh, bags of flavour and the ambience makes you forget about the world and enjoy your intense Greek food experience. Love this place

Friendly service and meat platter was nicely cooked.
Vivian
We came here on the off chance the original restaurant we were going to was closed
The ambience inside is very cozy, we ordered the saganaki which was lovely and the meat platter. This was more than enough for too and the meat was cooked well, some of the meat was a tad overcooked tho

Busy on a Saturday night. Service was quick, food was fairly priced. Being in the position they are, I was expecting better. Not bad, the friends I went with enjoyed it, I may just have higher standards.

The basic of the basic of the basic!!! Huge disappointment in food, services and prices.
Which Greek restaurant doesn’t have pita bread on their menu??? Well, this one! That was a first warning. Their meat dishes are composed by a generous portion of meat and an extremely stingy portion of a side: I had 2 pieces of potato and 2 pieces of sweet potato- see picture attached. Some others on the table had even less. The meat was a bit overcooked and plain. There is NO tzatziki or Greek salad coming with the meat as in most of the Greek restaurants! So for 28 dollars, all that you get is the meat and the 4 pieces of potato, if you’re lucky. We had to order tzatziki as a starter, let’s say it passes.
And shall I start about the services and the staff. The waiter/manager was far away from pleasant to talk to, better just to order the food and drinks and to not engage in an additional conversation with him or ask him questions. The managing of the bill also wasn’t the best moment.
It’s extremely expensive for what it is, and the quality of the food isn’t good enough to justify it. I’ve been in Greek places in Melbourne way more tasty, rich and generous and still paid less. This one is just ridiculous.

Greek food at its basic.

Entree’s very simple and tasty, can’t go wrong with what’s offered

The seafood just passes the Blue eye when cooked properly is scrumptious, the deep fried calamari is not my favorite.

Meats tend to be over cooked and are excessively salted, again pretty basic lamb and chicken kebabs, lamb gyro and rissoles.. not my favorite part of the night..

Deserts Greek custard pie.... passes

Overall service prompt and attractive, food needs a bump.. for the price of the standard banquet I guess it’s above average.

Toodles

A great night!
I attended a private function at Lemnos this week! It was a wonderful experience! Food just kept on flowing. Attention to detail, great customer interaction, and cosy surrounds! the staff were excellent, continuing to fill up water jugs and help with drinks. Their attitude was one of assistance and friendliness. The food quality was excellent and there was plenty for all. It was as if the restaurant was our home!

Helen from Eaglemont

Simple Greek food cooked to perfection. If it’s a satisfying delicious meal your after that will have you rolling out the door, then look no further, Lemnos tavern is the place for you. All the dishes in the banquet we ordered were tasty, generous and of high quality. The staff were very warming and friendly, the service was attentive and the restaurant had a nice cosy feeling about it. All In all a very enjoyable night.

The saganaki was wonderful. We ordered both the meat and seafood platters. The whitebait was disappointing as it was pretty soggy but the calamari was good. Service friendly and helpful. Limited wine list but byo available.

Came here for a last minute dinner on a weeknight. Was the WEIRDEST dining experience I’ve ever had. Food was fine. My meat-loving friends enjoyed it and my vego options were fine although there were no vego mains to choose. I wasn’t bothered as I didn’t expect much at a Greek restaurant famed for its meat and fish dishes. But one of the waiters was just, well, weird. Made me feel uncomfortable about being a vegetarian, he was actually telling me we all need meat. And then go on about religious reasons to eat meat. And then rambling about some weird conspiracy theory where humans are eating their own new borns! Sorry, but this one was out of the box WEIRD. No need to ever return. Like, never, ever.

Great night showcasing the latest wines from Greece. Food was outstanding!!! Definitely recommend with great service, nothing was a problem! 🍇🍷

Located on High Street in the upmarket Toorak Prahran precinct this Greek Tavern offers ambience, location, great food and good service.

Wine list modest and so is the menu but a limited menu comes with great food as the tavern concentrate on what best they make in a limited list than a long list with questionable taste.

We tried mixed dips, gyros, souvlaki, charcoal grilled prawns. Gyros was awesome with tender meat, King Sized prawns were just right, juicy and filling.

Ended the meal on Ek Mek tira madu and Port wine.

Revisit : Yes

This place is always busy and for good reason. Its consistently great in all respects.
Food, atmosphere, service, cleanliness and so on....
Would have to say, its a favorite.

As other have said, this is one of the better Greek restaurants in Melbourne. We visited mid week and it was a positive experience.

The cheaper banquet came with plenty of food, too much even. The restaurant was clean and the staff were super friendly. The food was nice and fresh but I don't see it being suitable for non meat eaters (Greek restaurants rarely are).

You definitely don't feel ripped off which is important these days.

What a great night we had. Food was beautiful, service was good and staff were friendly and hospitable. Definitely would go back . Value wise $$👍

Yes, the food here is How food should be. Food in any restaurant should be good and look good without saying. Portions may be a little out of control, but the guys in there, really do work hard. Great stuff guys.
Heidi
A classic Greek restaurant with all the staples! The calamari and saganaki are particularly good. The calamari was beautiful and tender. The staff are really friendly too.
Brenda Digby
The restaurant was buzzy and staff friendly. However, when the waiter poured our wine, he accidentally poured the wine into the water jug instead of mum's glass! No apology either and charged us for the full bottle. Meal was nice but potato on the side of souvlaki was cold. Overall think need to lift their game!
David Syber
loses half a point because the mains courses are too big to be able to enjoy the deserts.

Have always enjoyed the food, and now ask the owner to give us what he thinks best on the day. Sometimes we get all fish, sometimes a mixture of grilled meats and fish. Never a complaint on quality
Dina
Walked in at 7pm and asked to have some coffees. Got a strange look which was enough to tell me he wasn't happy about me asking for coffee. A place that can't give a simple coffee to a customer is an absolute waste of time!!

Well, we arrived at this restaurant at 7pm last night with my 9yo daughter and my male friend that I have known for over 20 years. We were greeted by either the manager or the owner or possibly one of the head waiters, because he is always there and is always the loudest. As we sat down another waiter came up to us and as we were all getting settled in, one of the waiter's made an a comment about my friend, being the 'daddy' of my child, which then my friend corrected him and said that he is not. That's when both of the waitors made another stupid comment and said,'well, that's even worse...' or words to that effect and began to put on a fake loud laugh. What the? Where did this come from? Why is this happening? We just arrived for dinner, not to be humiliated by two uneducated morons. This was really uncalled for and totally unnecessary. Unbelievably abnoxious and rude comment. Why would they say something like that and then begin to laugh? I was in shock and wanted to stand up throw the glass of water in the waiter's stupid face and leave. However, I somehow managed to regain my composure and continued with the process. I couldn't understand why he would say something like this, I guess he thought he was making a joke and was trying to make us laugh, but this was really unbelievably rude and lame. It was not funny.
Ok, so we sat down, while I am still completed frazzled, however then we ordered the food. The food arrived, I had overcooked prawns that were super dry and hard to eat and my daughter had seriously burnt shishkababs.
This is a real shame because I have been to this restaurant a few times prior to this and I always loved it, even though the waiter was also arrogant and abnoxious last time as well, but not to this degree.
I still cannot believe why someone would make a joke out of this. I am completely stunned.
Unfortunately we will never be coming back to this place and will let my friends know about this experience. Its a real shame because the food is usually pretty good here and the ambience and the atmosphere is very lively and great. A total shame. Bad waiter. Rude service and burnt food. Not up to standard for $122.

I can't count the number of ones we've been here and every single time it is amazing. Their dips, saga maki, greens, 2 person banquet, grilled fish, mussels.. I can keep going!! Soo yummy. Licences and BYO which is awesome also. Finishing off with a Greek coffee and some galactobouriko or baklava is the perfect way to complete your experience. Service is always spot on, and the value for money is unquestionable. One of my favourite places.

the staff here are the best - always lovely and usually pretty funny too - food is always bang on delightful!

also thier greek happy birthday song is the best - it will make your day

Hubby & I went by ourselves one evening, enjoyed the banquet for 2 very much, but the noise is unbelievable, it bounces off the walls, made it so uncomfortable that we had to ask for our main course to be given to us in takeaway containers!
Still carrying the 'Lemnos Tavern' flag, we suggested to our family & friends to come out and try it, so we did on 19/9/15, a group of 10. Once seated, the waiter came to take our orders, we all wanted the banquet but not the 2 vegetarians, so they asked for ala carte, well, this rude waiter said, its either ALL BANQUETS OR NOTHING! so much for customer service, it left a sour taste already in our mouths before we put anything in it! so, after we all settled for what that rude waiter said, plus ordering (limited) items on the menu that would suit the vegetarians, we had to wait for 1 hour for our drinks to arrive, the noise was beyond ridiculous. The food is NOTHING to be desired, as you could see in that picture, that platter was for 4 people, we had 2 platters, that was the so called banquet. How could 5 men get full on that? There isn't enough food on the plate. $600 + later, Regardless to say, we will not be going there, and times that by 8 other people, word of mouth is the strongest form of advertising.

I think this place is a hidden gem! Absolutely delicious traditional Greek food, service was great and the set up is beautiful! There was even a belly dancer entertainer which was fun!

Great suburban Greek fare. Dips are always tasty and I loveeee their saganaki - always well cooked and never rubbery. Lots of fresh flavours, juicy flavoursome gyros and fish fillets are always delicious. Staff are really friendly too (special mention goes to Theo).

As a Greek and also a Prahran local, I have to say this is one of my favourite places. The food is always consistent, well made and is quite authentic. I have taken different people here and all have gone back at some stage.Added plus is that you can BYO. For all you people that forget this, there is a bottle shop directly across the road.

I have been to Lemnos Tavern twice now and the service and food where exceptional on both occasions. The venue is warm and inviting, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food cannot be faulted. The Tamara Dip, Grilled Calamari and Chicken Souvlaki are my top picks. I haven't experienced dining like this in a long time and will definitely be back again! Thanks Lemnos Tavern!!!

Lemnos is one of the better Greek restaurants we've been to around Melbourne. IMO the food here is just a touch better than the other Greek restaurants that makes you want to go back here again instead of trying a new one.

Dinner with the Family on a Busy Saturday night Queens Birthday Weekend. Staff work easy resetting our table as we were the second sitting and showed us threw after a few minutes. Kids are starving and I was wondering how long before we would get served since the place Busy that that I mentioned, our waitress came our table and introduced herself , a Copy of the wine list and asked if we wanted Melbourne's finest all some sparkling a bottled mineral water, a few seconds later our food whatever also come over table introduced himself as George told this of the daily specials and what was left that of course gave us menus. My wife been a season diner asked if we could have some dips not knowing how long the food would actually take to arrive, seeing how busy the place was. Dips that were ordered and it probably less then five minutes to come out which is a relief of the two Young ones about Mums Arms. We then had some calamari and some Beautiful chargrilled octopus and a fetta and red capsicum dish that was flaming on arrival. A beautiful French pinot, was ordered by me after the recommendation that I took from our drinks waitress I forget what the name was but it was cheap and went down easily so had another glass after I finish the bottle between the two of us. Mains where a traditional Greek gyros serving shipowner style and a delicious plater of Blue eye fillets with butter lemon sauce. We left deserts to be chosen by our waiter George, and along came to traditional Greek galaktopuriko as some fruit. As getting ready to leave some music starts playing and the belly dance comes out of the kitchen area and the kids went crazy. Calling in All great night Quick service, good honest food, I couldn't fault much Will be back take couple of friends because it's too the food is great, and it's less than a kilometre from our House.

Great evening. Lovely and friendly staff. The food was yummy and we loved the greek wine recommended by the waitress.

Great Greek Food. We came here last night and everything was perfect. Loved the saganaki, chicken skewers and biftekia. A terrific selection of Greek wines and George who worked there made our night.

Plenty of room if you have a pram and loved the Galaktoboureko to finish. An absolute bargain this restaurant as you get so much for what you pay for and the ambience is gorgeous.

Wonderful!!!!. My mum and I were greeted warmly by Theo who is an absolute doll! The food and service was fantastic and we will definitely be back! Our friend who joined us also loved the food. The meat platter for 3 was perfect.
Marc
Very hard to fault the service which was very warm and friendly. We started with dips, whitebait and char grilled octopus which were all delicious with the exception of a rather odd choice of bread to accompany the dips - sliced stale brown dinner rolls. For main we had chargrilled prawns, gyros and a Greek salad - these were all good although the salad I found a little mean. The bill was i thought expensive ($170 - which included a 500ml bottle of retsina).

Great Greek Experience. It was a pleasure to spend a quiet Monday night here with my parents for dinner. Anybody who knows anything about real, authentic Greek cuisine knows that the key is letting great produce shine on the plate, with simplicity in preparation and presentation providing an elegant touch. It's great to see Lemnos doing exactly this. The wait staff were friendly, attentive and efficient and the decor and ambience left a positive impression.

Will be a repeat visitor in future for sure and would heartily recommend Lemnos to anybody who can appreciate authentic Greek food.
Kostasera
Highly recommended- a. Tried this Greek restaurant from a friend's recommendation and am so glad we came. The dips and bread were amazing especially the taramasalata dip and homemade bread-yum! The entree consisted of some saganaki, octopus and this beautiful dish called florina special with the perfect consistency of cheese, tomato salsa and chilli. Must try the mixed meat platter with the gyros and rissoles which we had for main. Meat was very tender and tasty. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Compliments to the chef - we will definitely be back!

Horrific. Bought my parents here who were visiting from QLD, excited for them to try some authentic Greek food which they certainly couldn't get in their small town. Decided on the banquet for mum and I, meat platters for the brother and dad. Totally overpriced for what you received, takes aaaages inbetween courses, and desserts/Greek coffee was actually the most repulsive thing I've ever eaten. Slimy weird cake/slice thing, and thick grainy coffee???

I was so disappointed as every time they visit I really try to pick good spots for them, will be going up the road to or into the city next time.
Awolaussie82
Unsure. Some great things, and some average. First the good. The staff, amazing and so nice. It was BYO which is nearly impossible to find in Prahran. The setting, brilliant. Felt like I was sat in a tavern in Athens. Most of the food looked great, the entrées we had were awesome. Grilled octopus done perfectly and grilled cheese. Both very nice. We decided on the seafood platter for main course.... this is where it let itself down. the calamari was too greasy (actually the whole platter was too greasy), the garfish hadnt been de-boned and wasnt overly pleasant picking out bones from it. And for what it was, I felt it was a little pricey. I feel like perhaps we should have ust ordered a main course each rather than a platter, as they all looked good. But we had the platter and it let the meal down.

Absolutely blown away!! So thankful for Theo and the staff at Lemnos taverna. I hosted my 30th birthday party here over the weekend and their hospitality didn't not go unnoticed . For a busy evening my party didn't feel un welcomed or no less important. The staff were attentive and polite. The food was superb and they was plenty of it. Even catering for a vegetarian guest extremely well! The entertainment in the Greek music and the belly dancer was great and kept me and my guests very happy and entertained. As a Greek I'm never too impressed with Greek tavernas but Lemnos blew my expectations out of the water. I had a fabulous evening as did my guests and I'll be back to dine here again. Opa!

Great Night... I went here with a friend her and her brothers family, BEST FOOD AND SERVICE... They kept bringing us warm bread and tzatziki (best tzatziki i've ever had!!) then we had the lamb chops, amazing, then the calamari, amazing, then scollops, amazing, then the saganaki, amazing, then the fish, also amazing! Can't fault this restaurant, then dessert... also amazing! Had a wonderfull time, and to top it off we all got a greek coffee. Really impressed, thank you Lemnos.

What a lousy night. We love greek food, however, last night, we were there, the restaurant was so noisy, we could not talk.
We asked for the whole snapper to be told they didnt have it even though we were early diners.
then when we asked for no potatoes with our main meal for 3 guys on diets, of course we got soggy potatoes, and asked if they could be replaced with green vegetables, the waiter screamed we don't have vegetables, just eat the salad.so the salad was lettuce, with a few slices of tomato which we paid extra for.
then for desert we asked for the mixed plate of deserts, so we didnt get the halva, nor turkish delights, when we mentioned this the waiter started yelling at us but it was on the menu. he then brought some halva but said they had run out of turkish delights, and the rest of the desert was some soggy pastry, dripping in oil
most of the others had king george whiting, which was barely enough to fill a female let alone a male

the waiter, appeared very nervous, kept throwing his arms up in the air when approaching the kitchen which is open to the restaurant
every time he served us, he threw the plates on the table, I didnt get mine until i mentioned it, and it arrived 15 minutes after the others, i was the only one to have meat so they obviously forgot
the kebabs were just ok

Top notch!. Service was warm, funny, friendly and accommodating - food was incredible.

Don't miss the baby goat on Fridays - absolutely divine.

Try the Ratsina wine for something different.

This could be better. We went back Nov 2013

Forget this review, maybe a bad menu choice on the day. This time we had antipasto and pizzas brilliant!!

And the staff were really special thank you!!

A great night out and light n the back socket.

We went their with high hopes and came away feeling it could be better. Sure parts were good other not so.
The dips seemed like a ration pack, not much there for four people. The chargrilled octopus was over cooked, tough and inedible. To their credit they replaced the dish with marinated octopus. It was just ok. The gyros were again a small serve of very small pieces of meat, not much and again chewy.
Now the good stuff. The goat, the fish and the Greek salad were great.
That helped.
Next time we will travel a little further and go to Collingwood, always a winner.
Keegan Hodge
It great, staff are lovely food is really fresh and succulent lamb, haven't been to Greece but, will alway make it my local Greek resterant.
Theophan Perdikis
Just had dinner with my GF overall experience was great, friendly staff nice clean food and fresh meat... Homemade dips w homemade bread hit the spot great work guys

Good atmosphere and friendly staff, food was just a little dry/overdone
Girlabouttown
Great food but always low on gyros which for a Greek restaurant is pretty silly, even when It's a week night and not very full, bit of a disappointment, service is good and the owner delightful. Byo which is great.
Kenny
I felt like I was in mum's kitchen!!
The lamb melted in my mouth, and the tzatziki was brilliant , with just enough bite.
Service was quick and precise..
Definitely worth experiencing
Yasou!!!

Great Greek. This is a great suburban restaurant. Their fish is very fresh. Try the blue eye or snapper, nice smokey BBQ flavour. The Greek salad is great too. Not the best wine list. I keep going back to this one.
Dave
Great Food. I come to this place for its fantastic food! They do the best seafood
Ezme McDavitt
Great all rounder. The service was prompt and friendly, the food kept coming and was to a high standard. We were taken by a friend for a birthday and it did not disappoint. Each plate was tasty and good portion sizes. We would recommend to all.
Kathleen Stibbard
Small serves for greek restaurant. A bit expensive for what you get.
Service vg..
Albert Blash
Had a fantastic meal tonight.. Casual Monday night dining is what I'm about. Took my family in for a authentic Greek meal and we were not disappointed. Great people and great meal equals a great Monday night. Thanks and will defiantly be back.
Cedric
You would think that with a large Greek population in Melbourne it would be easy to find great authentic Greek restaurants. Not so. Ask a Greek and they shrug and say "Mum's". Lemnos Tavern is better than most. Seafood is good. Few are better, but not too many. BYO too.
Convivialsins
Based on the reviews here j think my experience here could b down to YMMV... the service was good. but the food was terrible! I think we r spoilt for choice in melbourne but I say it how it is... the gyros meat was dry and plain. absolutely no flavour!! if I pay >$60 for food I'd expect I don't need to add salt to make it taste better!! on any given day a local Turkish take away could do better. the seafood platter was nice. Prawns were great but the muscles were too salty and the garfish was probably left under the heat a rad bit long. if it had retained some if its moistness in the flesh it would have been perfect cus the seasoning was just awesome!! salad was soooooo not fresh!!! cucumber was not crisp n crunchy but flimsy when u bite into it. WIR hmmm prob not.. am now in search of a good Greek restaurant in melbourne .. any suggestions :)
Andrew Michaels
The service here is pretty good although we were a little forgotten about at the end. Some staff had sat down at a table to chat with about 8 tables occupied and one server.
The food was mostly good but I am pretty much over Greek restaurants that serve up expensive mains (when you don't have banquets) that have too little on the plate and command a big price.
Four prawns along with no salad or sides at all is not worth $32.
Adam Hamilton
Great food & friendly staff. We shared the grilled Octopus and Scallops for appertisers, followed by whole baby Snapper and Blue Eye. Highly recommend all dishes that we tried. We'll be back.
RedShoes
Great food, great staff, very accommodating.

Great service, good value for money (particularly when you byo) and so close to home...stumbling distance in fact.

Fantastic food and service ... What more do you need... Nothing more to say .. Enjoy !
Bec Mayer
Read about this place & was looking forward to checking it out. The service was non-existent, after about 20 mins, the waiter finally came over, I said, u forgot us, he's like, yes I did! Starting dips were good. Then we were forgotten again for next course. Could not even eat the meat in the end, was terrible. The waiter even said, your wonderful, you never complain! Well, here's my complaint. I will never venture there again.

Excellent. 6 of us had dinner last night at Lemnos. Fantastic. Saganaki, Grilled Octopus, followed by a seafood platter (3) and then a meat platter (3), with a couple of shared deserts to finish. Food, service, cost and ambience were all excellent. A genuinely good eatery. We'll certainly be going back.
Nathan
Left feeling disappointed. I went for dinner the other night with a mate on the recommendation of another friend. We ordered saganaki as entree and the mixed meat platter for 2. The saganaki was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it.
After a decent wait between courses (there were only 4 filled tables) the main was brought out.

The words that we could summate best were: dry, bland, overcooked. The rissoles? were burnt, the chicken and lamb scratchy at best. The potatoes and pumpkin were cold. Even the greek salad was disturbing - tasteless and pre-prepared, which was evident from the tomatoes been very soft and bruised...

From such a fantastic entree, I cant remember leaving a restaurant so disappointed. I was full - this was a matter of quantity over quality, and the quality was definitely lacking. To pay $80 (1 entree, 1 main, 2 drinks) was not justified.

I hope if you do read this Lemnos - your service was generally pleasant, and the saganaki was fantastic, but you need to improve your main dish, especially when the expectation is that you will get a good tasting meats at a greek tavern....

Average restaurant. We had banquet for 2 on 25/2/12. Was a lot of food for the price we paid, which is a good thing, however food was average. Dips were very good as entree, mains were average and dessert was absolutely awful. They were quite busy,so we had no service at all. Brought our own wine and had to ask 4 times for ice basket, after 25 mins we received it and our wine was warm by then. Unfortunately, would not be back.

Excellent meal. We had an excellent meal. Food was tasty, reasonably priced and very good service. The dips were delicious and the bread even more so. We'll be back.

Lemnos is my favorite restaurant. I have been about half a dozen times now and they never disappoint. The banquet with the mixed grill is divine, all the meat is cooked to perfection. If I want a smaller meal I get the grilled chicken and a side Greek salad. The saganaki is the best I've had. Also, the traditional Greek deserts are delicious. The service is wonderful, they are all so friendly there. The place has a warm rustic feel to it. I've been to many Greek restaurants in Melbourne and I can say that this is the best. Highly recommended.
Exploring Food
We dined at Lemnos on Friday 9th December. We had heard great reviews from others however our experience left us with a very bad taste. There was a lack of service with only two waiters on the floor. Our entrees arrived 20 minutes after we ordered then the mains arrived 5 minutes after the entrees were served. We ordered a meat platter for four people however there were 2 lamb cutlets and 2 half sticks of souvlaki!!!!when we questioned the owner theo he proceeded to explain that if we were still hungry at the end of the meal he'll send more food out. Why not put 4 cutlets and souvlaki from the start?anyhow the service was slow , thr food was burnt and the attitude of the owner didn't help. Interested to see if anyone else has had similar experience. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone as I can accept bad night but not bad attitude from the owner.

Had lovely meal from menu- not banquet- on a Tuesday evening. Dips are homemade and dolmades have unique dill flavor. Lamb chops are beautifully cooked and tender.. but it is springtime!! I've been going here, on and off, for 20 years and it's still authentic and quality.

Great Greek Food. We had the meat platter to share and although the quantity was impressive, I think there could have been some dips in there to balance the salty flavours of the meat. However, I was impressed by the service and the free dessert platter they throw in at the end. Would def go back!

Banquet was pretty dismal. Tasty but not much food.

It all Greek to me.... I'll start off by stating I have a bias against Greek food. But when my Wife says she wants Greek for dinner then Greek we have... So , Wednesday evening we have a last minute decision to try Lemnos Tavern.

Service on the whole was ok. Attentive, but then not, helpful, but then no more. I don't know it was a mixed bag. Found it mildly perturbing that the waiter couldn't actually read the menu when we started asking questions. I guess he just didn't read english. Menu itself was brief, and contained all the usual fare that one expects of a Greek restaurant.

We ended up selecting fried whitebait and a plate of marinated octopus to start, followed by lamb brains and a serve of pork sausage accompanied with a greek salad. We also choose a glass each of the 'traditional greek wine' Restina.

Meals were ok to good. Portion size erred towards the larger size ( but they always do in Greek taverns), and none of the dishes were oily or greasy. The greek salad, despite coming with olives, was very fresh and crisp, and probably a highlight of the meal.

Starters were $13-$14 each, Mains ranged from $22 for Gyros to $32 for Seafood items. Wine by the glass at $7.50. Our meal for two totalled $98.00 which for me was a bit over priced for the overall experience.

I won't be in a rush to go back. But if you like Greek, then I'm sure you will enjoy.

Bon Appetite.

Went to Lemnos tavern A few weeks ago. Service was bad. The amount of food on the banquet menu was despicable. We left hungry. I do not recommend. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Busy little restaurant, but they still made us feel very welcome! Excellent quality meals with great flavour. Can't beat the service.

Best charcoal grilled for fresh seafood and quality meat in town. We had our friends birthday party in lemnos...and what amazed me was the quality of meat and seafood...the value was worth it...staffs were so friendly and the service was incredibly impressive...now looking forward to take my friends from NEW YORK for a welcome party in LEMNOS GREEK TAVeRN...

Very average. On the Saturday night we turned up at Lemnos Tavern it was very busy and very loud - which is ok by itself but not so good when the space has about half-dozen more tables than it can realistically fit.
The food was average. A sizeable piece of T-bone steak ($28) tasted like it was parboiled before grilling. The six large char grilled prawns ($30) were ok but nothing special. The chips were probably the worst we had in a very long time - greasy, undercooked and smelling like fish.

Great food. The banquet for two is heeaaps of food. All fresh and delicious - lots of seafood. To top it off, the service is great. Made to feel very welcome.
