Review Hobba - Prahran

Sandeep Adnani
One of My favourite places in the neighbourhood! Consistently good food and coffee, excellent service and a fabulous function room for bigger events. John is an exceptional manager and his team has always been welcoming, kind and attentive.

A wonderful experience at Hobba. Good food and the coffee was fantastic. A variety of plant based milks choices and GF options. The service can be slower on weekends but the staff are fantastic and very friendly. @spiffingtravels

Love this cafe! Great atmosphere and very delicious food.

This place is amazing! The vibe is fabulous and the staff are so accomodating. Wonderful place to set up shop for work if you are looking to get out of the office or home.

Cool place with a great vibe. The space is great, light & airy, with booths or tables, some along the wall with charging stations - nice touch! We wanted a breakfast/brunch place but somewhere we could also get items to take away for our day out to Werribee Open Range Zoo, well Hobba ticked the boxes on all counts and then some! My husband was on a mission to have the Hot Cakes after seeing the photos on various reviews. WOW! These are on another level of yummy decadence. My daughter & I immediately had food envy so we all had to have a bit! Straight away our daughter said, ‘Can we come again tomorrow?! I want to have Kids Hotcakes!’ Errrr - that was a firm YES! We ended up coming back twice more, one of which was our last stop on the way to the airport to catch our flight back to Sydney!! It was soooooo worth it and a real highlight of our trip to Melbourne. Coffee is fantastic too, as is the service, attentive without being overbearing. Thanks Hobba! Can’t wait to come back again!

Nice vibe, good coffee and great breakky/brunches. What’s not to love.

Very cool. Great modern space with high ceilings thanks to it being a warehouse/workshop conversion. Young cool staff and patrons (esp. later in the day) but also great for families (good selection of kids dishes). We’ve been a few times now for brunch and enjoy the inventive takes on classic breakfast staples. Looks great for lunch as well!

Absolutely amazingly delicious. Vibrant, fresh, inventive and super tasty food and drinks; served by enthusiastic and friendly staff; in a warm and inviting space. Highly recommend.

Visited after the lockdown the restaurant maintained pretty good social distancing while seating.. it’s a very nicely decorated cozy place . Love the ambience , there was little bit of waiting but at the end after the coffee and good food all forgotten.. tried hot cake , chilli scramble which was just delicious and the best beer battered chips with feta and oregano and they have in house speciality’s for the day. A must visit place . And the staff was courteous enough to put the coffee and chips on the house for long wait .

Has a delicious Benedict with pastrami! Service was fast and staff was lovely :) Really keen time go back and try more of the menu!

I’ve accidentally deleted my review so reposting<br/><br/>I love the modern warehouse aesthetic of Hobba but it’s a venue that still embodies a really homely feel. Very instagrammable dishes and plenty of healthy options available to boot

Another great breakfast at Hobba. Today was my third time back at the cafe after some time. Food was great and the staff are lovely! Will be back soon. Thanks Hobba team!

Great place, I love the decor! The place had great service, coffee and food. The experience was very pleasurable, cannot fault at all. Look forward to coming back!

Oh my gosh. Where place is a must. The space is beautiful. Perfect for a weekend catch up. The service was super friendly, helpful in every ways. My friend couldn't decide what to get and the service suggested that she surprised her and my friend got the pulled pork brioche - she nailed it! All the dishes we ordered was beautiful. Very new. Fulfilling.<br/><br/>I don't normally drink coffee but I could drink the iced Vietnamese coffee here!<br/><br/>This is absolutely my new fav.

Finally got around to eating at Hobba, where I've wanted to come for a while. We got there around 12 and so finding a table without a booking wasn't hard at all. The vibe is very hip/funky and it feels like it used to be a car garage or something similar with big garage doors at the front, and a modern industrial feel on the inside.<br/><br/>We were seated right away and given menus promptly and everyone was friendly. There's a good selection to choose from, and a few daily specials to pick from as well, Even with all the delicious sounding all day breakfast items, I opted for a fish burger and it was great. Their chips are honestly the best I've had almost anywhere. I don't know what the secret is, but they were phenomenal. The food came out in a good time, and everything tasted great; everyone else loved what they ordered, as well.<br/><br/>There was just one or two small and very minor complaints I had about it, and that was lack of room at the table (when all the food and beverages are on there). On a warm day, which it was, the big front doors were open and flies were everywhere. The a/c wasn't put on until it really got hot, so half the meal was in warm conditions and the other half was in noise when it was put on. The last thing was that the burgers kind of had to be eaten with a knife and fork because they were just so messy (sauce and shredded lettuce falling out all over the place), and they placed napkins under the burger, which made it difficult to cut. However ... all in all, I loved it here. Based on my burger the other day, I cannot wait to try their regular cheeseburger and come from breakfast one day too. I loved the atmosphere and feel. Prices are good and while parking can be a bit tricky depending on day or time of visit, it's worth a shlep to get a good meal. Will definitely be back.

I’ve been in 3 times now and tried the waffles, the avo toast, and the sandwich special. I hate to, but I can find small things I disliked about every meal. The waffles didn’t have enough sauce and were quite dry. Very little Nutella flavour. The avo toast really doesn’t need the quinoa and the poached eggs are so lightly done that mine was a bit cold. The steak sandwich was nice but again, not enough sauce. I’ll keep going back as I do enjoy the food, but I do think there’s room for improvement compared to other brunches in the area.

Hobba is definitely a unique cafe in Prahran. It's super contemporary as it's set in a converted warehouse - think brick walls and plants/trees in the middle of the place. Love the vibes here. <br/><br/>We went on Sunday morning, so to be expected it was very busy but we only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. We got the share table which we didn't mind, but found it a little difficult to eat with such limited space for the plates.<br/><br/>Most importantly, the food here is great! I ordered the omelette which I really enjoyed and my partner ordered the cheese french toast which was a very unique dish being savoury. <br/><br/>I did have a little food envy when I saw someone close by get the waffles! I'll be ordering those next time - they look like a sweet tooth's dream.
Bonjourbonjour
I came here with a big crowd of people we were very happy to all be seated. <br/>Two high chairs were available which can be sometimes difficult especially in Melbourne I can definitely recommend this for children.<br/>I ordered the waffles which were great as a sweet tooth some mornings I can find it’s often either a hit or miss often restaurants aim the sweet breakfasts for children and don’t put us adults In consideration and more often than not i am disappointed but I was not at all it was delicious. Excited to come back!
Gerd
So much more than the standard local cafe. Large place with friendly booths as well as tables and a back room. We had the beef short rib on polenta and the scallops on puréed cauliflower. Well presented and realised dishes. Superb.
Jepps
10/10. Taste, presentation, service & coffee! Ordered the French toast which is a MUST and the Benedict. Both packed full of flavour, generous servings and all round amazing! Don’t think twice about going here, just do it!!
Quince And Cheese
I've been to Hobba several times for coffee and am always satisfied. I recently returned to Melbourne after a while away and finally decided to visit for food. I usually opt for the most unique veggie dish on the menu but the options were somewhat limited, so I settled for a classic smashed avo. It was nicely presented but lacked flavour. I enjoyed the very soft boiled egg but not the cheese, which was more like a cotija than a goat's. My partner's omelette also lacked flavour despite the cheese. A side of tomato chutney or something similar would be nice. For $20 a plate, I would have expected something slightly better.
Bella1
i really enjoyed the food here. went for an event, the sliders were amazing, so were the arancini balls and the staff were helpful and good service.
Lexi Tsaconas
I cant fault the food here, but unfortunately this time the customer service lacked some urgency and attentiveness. Altogether a cute local cafe!

Came here for a quick coffee on an Easter Monday when no shop was open. This place was crowded but service was still good and there was no public holiday surcharge. my skinny flat white was really good - great milk and good roasted beans. Would be back again!

I can confidently say that these were the BEST waffles I have ever had in my entire LIFE and that’s saying alot 🙈<br/><br/>FOOD: I ordered the waffles and though it doesn’t have a fancy name, when it comes it is a completely different story! I’ll deconstruct it slowly to address every PERFECT aspect of this dish! The waffle itself was so crispy but yet soft that every single bite you take, it makes you want to appreciate the next even more, the chocolate cream was decadent and amazing, the berries were perfect and surprisingly not too sour which I find is an often theme in many but not this one which I love and finally, the star of the show, THE NUTELLA ICE CREAM. Omg, where do I even start! It was so amazing because instead of it being just nutella there were strips of chocolate which provided a lovely crunchy texture to go with the crunchy waffles! I adored this dish so much but would’ve appreciated abit more of a peanut butter flavour but that’s just me nit-picking! It truly was an amazing dish! I did order their house spiced maple syrup to try it and it wasn’t to my liking due to the REALLY REALLY HEAVY SPICE so if you love spice, you’d love it but I’ll stick to chocolate and peanut butter 🙈 The portion is pretty good too! It looked small from the pictures but I’ll guarantee this beast is bound to fill you up!<br/><br/>SERVICE: Service was pretty good with most of the staff being friendly! There was one staff member that kinda threw me off a little :/ Maybe the server was having a bad day or something but the server sort of just snatched one item off my table and I was abit in shock but other than that, all the servers was great!<br/><br/>AMBIENCE: Absolutely magnificent! I generally like the warehouse vibe of cafes but Hobba truly made it amazing! Decorating the inside beautifully and it wasn’t too echoey! I really really loved the ambience!<br/><br/>Overall, I am extremely pleased with the food and the waffles was a dish that left me sad that I finished it but excited to hopefully return in the future! I’d definitely recommend the waffles to anyone who has a sweet tooth!

This was exactly what we needed! <br/>We had a group of 6 plus pram on a busy Saturday morning and the friendly staff at Hobba were able to easily accommodate us out in the back, where we had ample space and could spread out to relax and enjoy the space and the food. <br/>The soft poached eggs were cooked to perfection, the amigo omelette w jamon super tasty (I particularly like the fresh mint with the jalapeño flavour), the wild granola spot on and the kids eggs were great! Coffees and other drinks were also good.<br/>Some confusion when it was time to go around where we were sitting and subsequently the bill but this was sorted put and we look forward to returning at a later date.

Great cafe... always packed, very nice vibe. Interesting menu and seems to be an ever changing specials board which is nice. <br/><br/>I found the food and coffee pretty average though... but a nice meeting place none the less. <br/>

Great food and vibes to be had! Hobba is one of our favourite go to’s during the weekend. The restaurant is very spacious inside, with high ceilings and natural lighting. The staff are friendly, service is prompt, and food is delicious! Our favourites are the super salad and lamb salads (don’t let their looks fool you, very filling) and fried chicken burger (juicy and enormous, one of the best we’ve had).

It’s very rare I go to a brunch spot twice in Melbourne as there are so many options however, I have been here twice because the atmosphere, food and staff are all superb. <br/><br/>The cafe itself looks awesome and is a very cool space. If you wanted to come here and do some work it would be the perfect cafe.<br/><br/>The food is ace. The poached eggs are super soft and always run. The menu itself has so many options. They also have a specials board which has been different both times I have been. They also have baked goods. Their cookies are awesome. <br/><br/>I really like this place. It’s ace. 9/10

Been here twice now, once early morning to grab a takeway coffee and whilst ordering i couldnt resist one of their amazing muffins from the counter!<br/>The second time we dined in and the breakfast menu was great, so much to choose from it made deciding very hard. Went for the bendict it was sooo good. Very happy.

Hobba Hotcake is delish 😋 I love the honeycomb and berries, not so much with the mascarpone though, but overall it was a good dish. And their almond latte is so smooth. I enjoyed brunching here on this first day of summer. Thank you for the nice and friendly service too 😊
Brooke Fox
The food was fantastic. The service staff were friendly, attentive and very helpful. Coffee was also great! Even though it was a reasonably busy Saturday morning, the staff ensured we had a table after a short wait.
@lukebMelb
Came here for breakfast last week , all was delicious ! Loved the addition of pomegranate in the smashed avocado. Only negative was the poached egg was a tad under done. Coffee is amazing. Definitely worth checking out.
David Fumberger
Usually a great place with good food and nice atmosphere. Had avocado smash today, and bread tasted distinctly mouldy in one part. Mentioned it to the waiter and he just asserted that the bread is usually very popular and didn't seem very worried about the issue. Hopefully it was just a one off / unfortunately loaf of bread, but could have been handled better, at least letting the kitchen know so other people didn't suffer the same mouldy taste!
Dora & Craig
We came to this cafe on Melbourne Cup day, the cafe was pretty busy. We were very happy with our food! Waffles were so yummy, soft and crunchy outside with Nutella ice cream on the top❤️ however, eggs Benedict’s pulled ham was a bit dry and lack of flavour. Scrambled eggs on toast with a side of mushrooms was yummy!! Coffee was good too! Considering the cafe was super busy and the quality of the food was still good, we were very happy and want to go back to try out other dishes very soon!
The Muesli Addict
One of the best cafes I've been to. Service is always good. Coffee is great. Food is amazing, especially the bircher, waffles, pancakes, french toast, chicken burger. Have been coming here almost every week.

A great brunch place 7 min walk down Malvern road off the main iconic Chapel street. Offering a range of specials and a large brunch menu it is great for couples out for a weekend brunch or a larger group (with function area towards the back). Good coffee and friendly service!
Sweetoothbrunches
This trendy place is definitely a must visit. I chose to have their waffles and a boozy milkshake. Friendly staff and a grest atmosphere about this place.

Found this cafe while I was in Prahran, love the open industrial space and the high ceiling 🏠<br/>.<br/>They offer variety of sweet and savory dishes. We ordered the CHEESE FRENCH TOAST($18) 🧀🍞 and BRÛLÉE LAMB ($24)🎃🐄. It was both amazing and super generous portion!! I never had a cheese French toast so is quite interesting for me, the bacon was perfect and crispy. But is more like a savory version of French toast then a sweet one. The lamb was tender, goes really with the pumpkin.<br/>.<br/>Coffee was good and Oreo milkshake ($7) 🍪🥛 was filling.<br/>.<br/>I would def come back to try the famous Hobba Hotcakes 😋
GezaEats
Bold and rustic eatery serving hearty brunch that satisfy the tummy. My review on the dish I had...<br/><br/>Pork Egg and Beans for brunch, a brilliant combi to beat the bitterly cold morning. Packed with different cuts of porky goodness, a definite fav for any meatlovers. Plus the sour notes of the goat cheese helps mellow its richness. Even with that, i am surprise that I struggled to finish it all. But the eggs was slightly overcooked for me. yolks werent runny as i hope to be.
Thảo Lê
The price is pretty average for brunch. I ordered the Brulee Lamb. The lamb and brussel sprouts were slightly burnt, which gave a bitter taste to it. However, the pumpkin's sweetness and aroma kinda compensated that. The lamb texture was amazingly tender. I may come back for the famous hot cake later
Miranda
Pleasant enough. I enjoyed my coffee in the rustic of the converted industrial space. I was a bit underwhelmed with my meal; Wild granola with chia pudding and berries. The granola to chia pudding ratio was about 1:15, so I felt a bit mislead. <br/>The fresh berries and meringue drops were a pleasant accompaniment. The poached pair was firm, hadn’t been seeded properly and difficult to cut through with a spoon. All in all, not bad but not great.

This place is a hidden gem. Located away from the bustle of chapel street, it has an inspired menu and gives a modern twist to some great breakfast/lunch dishes. I've enjoyed every dish I've tried there, and most recently enjoyed their version of smash avo. It tasted beautiful and was a large portion: my only complaint would be the 63 degree egg on top was a little off putting for someone who doesn't love wobbly eggs. All in all, would recommend.
Marie Bertucci
We have heard so many good things about the food here at Hobba and couldn’t wait to check it out ... they were accommodating for our group and had good service the food was slightly above average and we were satisfied with our stay .. it wasn’t until we went to pay and were very surprised that we had been charged for asking for a side of chilli! Never have we ever been charged for this It has turned our experience into a negative one ..
Olive Sundays
Hobba is a great place for brunch. They have something for everyone from smashed avo and burgers to waffles and hotcakes. The dishes have character and are super delish. The decor is pretty with exposed brick walls, high ceilings and cute hanging plants. It’s a big space too so you can bring your large group of friends or big family along for a feast. A great place in Prahran to stop by for coffee and brunch.

Wanted something sweet after a medical appointment nearby so decided to drop by Hobba at Prahran. I was hoping to get their peanut butter and chocolate waffle, but sadly they ran out :( so I ordered the hotcakes. I wasn’t very hungry so I asked whether I can have half a serve and they were so nice about it and said yes 💗 <br/><br/>I also got a very refreshing veggie juice which was delicious and kiddo who was with me wanted egg so I got him a children egg and bacon on toast with babycino.<br/><br/>The egg was beautifully cooked and the bacon was crispy and nice.<br/><br/>The hotcakes was beautifully presented and although it was a half serve they were very generous with the berries. I think the slight let down was that the hotcakes was a little bit dry on the inside, resulting in a crumbly texture. I am still pinning for Proud Mary’s hotcakes 🥞 which was the best ever I had.
Morgs85
Such a disappointing end to a great brunch. We went here after great reccomendations, for our monthly book club meeting this morning. We were told before we sat down that we had a 2 hour sitting for our catch up (no problem). After 1.25 hours, were told by our waitress that we had to leave soon as the people that had booked the table had arrived and they needed time to clean and set the table (they had cleared everything to hurry us along). I understand that we had a set time, but 45 mins to set up was a bit much! It wasn't our fault that the people had arrived early. Left a bit of a sour taste in our mouths. Prior to that, we were discussing using the back room for a mother's group catch up and a potential wedding venue. Such a shame!

Hobba is one of those places you could easily visit time and time again. Stunning and massive space, with a cool and upbeat vibe. Plus a delicious menu that offers a good variety of sweet and savoury fare for breakfast and lunch.<br/><br/>They can get pretty packed particularly on weekends, but surprisingly we didn’t have to wait too long to get seated.<br/><br/>Being a big smash avo brekkie fan, I naturally ordered this on the menu – it was served on a big slice of grain toast with pomegranate, fetta, poached egg and quinoa. The pomegranate added a nice touch of sweetness to the dish. Overall, a delicious and sensational breakkie for me. <br/><br/>My friend picked the Goodness Bowl. It featured some warm salad of broccolini, kale, sugar snaps and asparagus with beetroot humus, avocado, a sprinkling of nuts and seeds over a lemon vinaigrette. It’s all green, nourishing and just damn good for you! This is perfect for anyone who likes their first meal of the day to be on the super healthy side. Suffice to say, she polished her bowl clean!<br/><br/>I’m already looking forward to my next visit - desperate to try the Hobba Hotcakes and Spicy Southerner Fried Chicken Burger!

We’ve fallen in love with Prahran lately, probably because its market is one of the few that stays open until 5 PM which is perfect for us!. One weekend we decided to head to Hobba for brunch before we did our usual weekend shopping given it was on the way for us. We managed to find a parking spot right outside and entered the cafe. The cafe itself is quite a large space and reminds me of a warehouse turned restaurant with the brick walls, high ceilings with wooden beams and hanging plants. It was also PACKED! But surprisingly we were seated straight away.

I don't know how to put it other than one of the worst things I've ever eaten. The pulled brisket baguette is essentially a pile of slop. I'm not sure why the bread of choice is brioche as it only made it sickly sweet and even oilier than it should have been. The beef was drowned in a sauce that tasted like a dessert and having the the fries in the roll covered in bernaise was just too much. They need to reconsider this dish and all it reminds me of is super-sized sloppy American food that just doesn't work well.

Breakfast at Hobba, we're not morning people but we've just come from a Harry Potter Marathon :P. Liven offered us a $20 off $40 spend, the perfect way to discover and try new places. Hobba is quite easy to get to on the tram, near Chapel St. Set in a warehouse with a couple fans, this place is going to be crazy hot when it gets warmer.
Girl_Eats_World
Great looking venue, good service and fantastic menu. The waffles were amazing. Some of the best I've had. Waffles with berries and Nutella icecream are what dreams are made of. My husband got his usual order of toast with haloumi and tomatos and he said it was great. Nice portion size. Busy venue which was totally deserved.
Waffles Of Melbourne
Fantastic, friendly service. The milkshakes were great - the perfect amount of flavour to milk. We shared the most delicious, decadent waffles and then ordered a side of their fries, which were cooked to perfection and so crispy and beautiful. The aioli was great too. Highly recommend!
Jo
The cafe has a great vibe and was super cosy on a cold day but that's where most of the positives end.<br/>I ordered the hotcakes and a latte and my daughter ordered the waffles and an iced chocolate.<br/>The latte came out and was luke warm and the iced chocolate had very little choc more like a glass of milk. The hotcakes were not bad, very thick and a bit doughey but the syrup was yum and the marscapone lemon cream was the highlight. My daughters waffles were simply awful. The waffles were burnt there was a "chocolate" sauce which again had very little chocolate in it (had they run out??) it was a weird watered down sauce with no flavour and berries that looked like they came out if a can.. Pretty much inedible.<br/>This place is a bit hit and miss... Won't go back

Love the decor of the place and the staff were friendly. Had the French toast, it was filling, a little bit heavy for me but it was tasty tho

I have previously had more pleasant experiences at Hobba. However, last week my lunch order came more than 45 minutes late and only after I prompted the waitstaff about it. Upon arrival, the burger was mediocre at best with more brioche bun than actual filling... The manager assured me my meal would be "taken care of" but when I checked at the counter, I was given a measly $2 discount. I am sad and disappointed with the lack of customer service and expected more. I certainly wouldn't be recommending this cafe to any of my friends based on this.

Staff is friendly and food came out relatively quickly. Food is absolutely delicious (especially the pancakes) such a decent size too! Decent price. Would visit again.

One of the Melbourne “worth it brunch ” place! <br/><br/>I ordered Hobba benedict, which is superb choice. The meat is so soft and the hollandaise sauce is so goood! The pouched egg are perfectly cooked too. Hobba hotcakes is super good, super fluffy and the portion is satisfying!the mascarpone matched with the other elements as well.<br/>Chai latte was super good too ! The spices and honey compliment each other..<br/><br/>Overall, the food was top notch! The staff was so friendly and generous.. the service was nice. The ambience of the place is eye catching too<br/><br/>We’ll be back to try their other menu!!<br/><br/>#BHAsFoodDiary

Amazing vibe. Great latte and almond milk latte. Great Wolfpack burger. Gorgeous gorgeous chia pudding. Would love to come here again for the waffle.

So much hype, and was disappointed! Ordered the poached eggs and the eggs were still clear, as in they were still raw! Staff were ok but was very hard to get there attention! Don't think I will be going back there any time soon.

Service ~ 8/10<br/>Coffee ~ 8/10<br/>Food ~ 5/10<br/>Atmosphere ~ 7/10<br/><br/>The omelette I ordered was quite average and lacked a lot of flavour. I had to ask the waiter for some sauce as it was pretty bland, some chutney would have paired well with it. Everything else on the menu looked great - I will definitely order something else when I return. Cool funk little cafe in the heart of Prahan, just didn’t enjoy the omelette :(

Hobba is a large cafe located in the heart of Prahran that serves a variety of meals to cater for any occasion or dietary requirements. Their food is very delicious and the portion sizes are quite satisfying. I will definitely be returning<br/><br/>The breakfast Piggy team<br/>Piggies out, oink oink xx

What better way to celebrate my 100th post other than to review a worthy melburnian brunch place! <br/><br/>😱Lizzie’s first impression: Super excited to try this place after hearing many good things and it did not disappoint. <br/><br/>🍩Lizzie enjoyed: The hot cakes were a stand out. The serving was so generous and hot cakes were very fluffy. The mascarpone on top matched well with the fruits. The mushroom dish was so delicious, the plate looks impressive and thought out. The feta chips were also a stand out!! A must try! <br/><br/>🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: The way the eggs Benedict was - this is because they were 63 degree eggs so it aesthetically did not look appealing and definitely wasn’t as tasty. <br/><br/>🥇Lizzie rates overall: it was a scorching hot day and the staff placed us right in the back where the private room was - they came in to check on us very often so hospitality was great! Thanks for having us!

Stunning and spacious - Hobba is a mainstay of the Melbourne brunch scene. Always bustling and with some massive hype I had some pretty high expectations going in and it DEFINITELY delivered. First off, I'm extremely thankful I went here with five of my favourite humans as there were plenty of dishes to try from an amazing looking menu! The variety between savoury and sweets and so many drinks to choose from! The decor was obviously warehouse chic in order to cater to the masses and the size required for its demand but Hobba even has a private function room out the back which we had the pleasure of using.
Mikaela
I had been wanting to try Hobba for so long. Every time I drove past on Malvern road I would tell myself I must go there. From the outside it looks fresh and inviting. I visited recently for brunch with a friend and I’m pleased I did!<br/>I had my usual ‘go to’ Avocado smash and added an extra soft poached egg and bacon for good measure because surely the one was not enough. I really did miss judge! I absolutely loved the addition of pomegranate, definitely a new favourite. <br/><br/>Definitely returning to try more off of the menu.
Le Croque Madame
Lovely food, big portions 🐷and the restaurant looks nice. When one of my friends had a suggestion about the food presentation, they handled it very well and offered us a free drink. Would def go back for the cheese waffles they were amazing!
Derick.brumley
Lovely environment and good food overall. The omelette was thin, had too many herbs and could have used something sweet, such as caramelised onion. We also had smoothies, which would have been nice cold (blended ice). Otherwise, great time and happy to come back!
Josephine
I ordered the nuggets and fries to snack on but it wasn't good. It's recommended as a kid's meal but I ordered it as a snack. The fries and chicken balls (not nuggets exactly) were over cooked. The coffee was just alright, nothing outstanding. Atmosphere wise was good.
FoodieGuru_770
Great food. Had a fantastic omelette with cured trout, corn and herbs. It was nice and thin and the taste was scrumptious. The setting is grungy, staff friendly and great breakfast. Please try. The only issue is parking is limited.

This was my second trip to this cafe. Last time was just coffee and it’s better than OK, but not awesome. <br/><br/>This morning I had breakfast and to say it was overpriced is an understatement. $19 for Avo Smash. This is not an unusual price but the serve size (for that price) was disgraceful. A large chunk of bread does not constitute good value. Today’s meal was worth no more than $13. Only $6, I view it as a 50% markup.<br/><br/>One staff member was more concerned with shifting his car into a space right out front and going for a smoke. <br/>Won’t be back, I’ll take my business meeting somewhere else.
GPS Joe
Have visited several times. Ordered the mushroom dish today as a lighter meal option. What a superb choice. Presentation was exceptional, flavours were delicious, and a fairly healthy option too. Don't let the modest name on the menu fool you. Kitchen staff seem to relish their responsibility to produce a seriously great plate. Coffee has been consistently good too, with nice balance and depth. Often tempted to have a second (despite my 1 coffee rule). Service may appear a bit frosty initially, but staff are friendly once you engage with them. (Like most people really!).

I was exploring Zomato for a nice place for brunch and Hobba popped out.<br/>The breakfast menu seemed unique, with many vegetarian options as we're not a fans of meat in the morning. However, when we got there it was lunch already - so brisket and burger it is!<br/>Brisket was perfectly cooked with beautiful sauce on a long brioche bun. Burger was full in flavour accompanied by the perfect beer batterd chips. Great coffee too.<br/>The place is an old warehouse, perfect for coming with a pram with lots of space. <br/>Service was good to, will come back for more!
BitchUnhealthy
Good Coffee.<br/>Had the Wolfpack Burger. Tasted perfect and especially with a massive knife through it. <br/>Didn't interact with staff but friendly on social media.<br/>Need to go back to try the rest of the menu.<br/>x BU
Split The Bill
I needed a coffee on a Saturday afternoon and was walking down Malvern Road. <br/>Hobba caught my eye so we wondered in and was immediately escorted to a table.<br/>I ordered the skinny latte and my friend had her chai. We also felt like a couple of tiny delights also.<br/>Overall a very modern contemporary building and service was quick and efficient and the food being ordered around us looked amazing too. Will need to give this a try!
BIRCHER QUEEN 👑
Waited 15 mins for a table on a Saturday. Ordered a takeaway soy latte whilst we waited $6. Food took a little while. The bircher was thick in consistency and perfectly sweet. I asked for extra nuts and thankful I did as my friend also got the bircher and it had hardly any. Apparently the size of the bircher had decreased which was disappointing. Given the thickness of the yoghurt throughout the dish I was satisfied but of course would of loved the previous larger version of the meal!

As you approach Hobba,we are immediatey greeted with a welcoming smile and seated immediately. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The coffee was strong and good. I ordered the Chicken fried burger which was dry but still was tasty. Will definitely come back.

Great place and great ambience to hang out.<br/>Foods are good, except my chicken burger was burnt :( why do you still serve me that. I would give 4 stars rating if it not for that.. Overall experience was great.<br/>It would be nice if next time staff would let you know there is special menu for the day. It was our first time there. <br/>Thank you for having us :) <br/><br/>Oh! Good coffee!

Goodness bowl! Was very filling and full of goodness as the name says, was a perfect way to start the day before work! Place has a nice vibe and the smoothies are also very yum!

Usually too busy for my liking! Great for take away coffee though. Decent food although one of those brekky places that thinks it acceptable to only serve one egg with meals.... just put two eggs and charge a little extra for the meal don't make people have to ask for an additional egg!

Lovely and warm on a cold winter's day. The poke bowl was a bit bland, but the chicken burger was delicious. Service is a bit hit and miss. Very attentive when clearing up plates but not when orderiing

Wonderful food and great service! We only had to waita2 minutes to be seated and after ordering, our food came out within 15 minutes. I had the omelette and a freshly squeezed orange juice, which were both delightful!

Had to wait 30 minutes (!!! No joke) for my coffee. The pancakes which were a huge disappointment (cold and dry) arrived even before my coffee was served. Door was open and it was freezing cold.

I've been fortunate enough to visit Hobba quite a few times, however, this was the first time for my girlfriend. <br/><br/>Like the Apple Store on school holidays, there is no shortage of staff - all of which were friendly and prompt with service. <br/><br/>I started with a coffee - which was very good. Beautiful smooth flavour, however, it didn't come out as hot as I requested, no biggie. <br/><br/>For a while now I've been talking up the Southern Fried Chicken Burger to my girlfriend. I insisted she tried it (with bacon, of course), for two reasons. <br/><br/>1) I wanted her to finally experience one of the best chicken burgers in Melbourne. <br/>2) (and more importantly) I knew she wouldn't be able to finish it, giving me the chance to swoop in and clean up what she couldn't. <br/><br/>When presented with the burger, her eyes lit up. If only she looked at me the way she looked at this burger. It's a big burger, so it was a two-hand job. When she took her first bite, I lost her. She was gone. It was like she disappeared through the gates of Burger Heaven. I tried talking to her for about 5-10 minutes but my words just fell upon deaf ears. From the first to last bite, all of her life's problems disappeared... minus one. And that problem was the fact that this burger had to end at one point in time. <br/><br/>The point of my story is, fellas, that if you want a quiet girlfriend for 10 minutes plus a great left over burger - bring her to Hobba for the Southern Fried Chicken Burger, neither of you will be let down.

Honestly can't fault this place, except that maybe service was a little slow, but that can be forgiven considering how packed it was. Highly recommend booking a table if you don't want to be waiting 20 minutes!

Coffee is great but the chicken in the salad was dry and burnt.  Everyone else's meals ok so would give it another go.  Good atmosphere and friendly staff, not usually that long a wait to get a seat.  go

What stood out about Hobba was the light, airiness of the cafe, once just a basic prahran warehouse. The high ceilings accompanied by wide drop lamps and hanging plants alludes your eyes up, really showing the amount of space hobba has on offer. Seating was abundant and stylish, with the kitchen tucked neatly in the corner. I tried the southern style chicken burger whilst my partner had a Wolfpack burger with an egg. Both were delicious! Well suited for a brioche bun. The chips were to die for! You really only need a few before you're stuffed. The creativity of the menu, along with the nest and chic font styling bought a lovely change to the cafe scene's trending factor. Would definitely return, though I can imagine a huge waiting list on weekends!

"It's called Wolf and Hound," said my husband with great confidence, "not Hobba". He parked on Malvern Road and started walking. I had previously told him I hadn't heard of such a cafe along this street ... but I have heard of Hobba. As we approached and saw the wolf sign, he was grinning ... but turns out the cafe was actually called "Hobba". I guess we both got it right. <br/><br/>We were seated straight away by friendly staff and ordered the following:<br/>1) Oreo milk shake: I've been totally digging milk shakes lately and this was great. 5/5<br/>2) southern fried chicken burger: it was nice and cheesy and the chicken was crunchy. 3/5<br/>3) lamb brûlée: this was so interesting but unfortunately it looked better than it tasted as it was all out of balance. It was simply too dry and there wasn't enough sauce. 2/5<br/>4) ricotta hot cakes: this tasted very nice but the hot cakes were very hard on the outside. Once you cut through that, the insides were nice and fluffy. 3/5<br/><br/>Service was quick and friendly. 5/5

Food 9/10: big dishes. Great burgers and hot drinks<br/>Service 7/10: standard cafe service. Quick <br/>Atmosphere 8/10: lots of seating spaces so very rarely need to wait in line. Not noisy and is spacious, good for catch ups

I really wanted to love this place. Hell it has a wolf as its insignia. Thats so cool. Let's start with where Hobba gets it right - my coffee ( a magik) was perfect; I like the warehouse exposed brick interior decor and the warm ambiance. Unfortunately if you dig deeper into the unimaginative menu and execution, Hobba is left hobbling. The service was a bit amateurish - twice we were asked "did you order this...". It's a terrible look and just shouldn't happen despite shared tables. On to the food, my chilli scrambled eggs had a nice consistency but the chillies were way too overbearing. The way it has been cut (julienne would have been more apt) and not deseeded made some bites unbearable. The ham hock was on the salty side, didn't exemplify good produce sourcing and was unmemorable at best. Hobba has been around for a long time and it's clearly a locals favourite, but my visit finds it to be a wolf in lamb's clothing.

Came here today for lunch with my sister, Min. The cafe has a really cool warehouse vibe and awesome wooden booths to sit in. The staff were all friendly and the service was efficient. <br/>We started with some drinks- I got a long black and Min had the detox juice- which she let me try! Yum! So tasty!<br/>For meals- I ordered the goodness bowl (and a bowl of chips on the side - double "gàSoodness" in my opinion ha ha!). The Goodness bowl was delicious!! There was a lemon vinaigrette, which wasn't overpowering but added a delicious complexity to the flavours. The beetroot hummus was awesome, and all the greens were cooked perfectly! The chips were bang on- crunchy and well seasoned!<br/>My sister ordered the fruit toast, she said it was nice and very dense and fruity! <br/>All in all- we had a very positive experience at Hobba today.

Hobba is in a perfect location close to Chapel St in Prahran. We went there for Brunch, no reservations, it was busy and we put our names in the waiting list LESS THAN 5 MINUTES and we were in, awesome service! The worst part was to pick just one dish from the amazing menu OMG everything is so appealing (I want one of each).<br/>Our order: <br/>Drinks: Long black, Latte and Cappuccino. I had the long black, really nice coffee, cero complains. <br/>Food: Mushrooms, Hey Amigo Omelette, Chilli Scramble. I had the Mushrooms but I tried Everything, deliciousness after deliciousness (mouth watering right now). Maybe the portion of the Mushrooms could be a lil bit bigger, not saying that is tiny small (refer to pictures). <br/><br/>The service and attention to detail is awesome, no long waiting times and the girl who was with us was really helpful.<br/><br/>We will definitely be back!!!<br/><br/>Thanks Hobba!
Luke And Hannah
We were here on a Sunday brunch and the place was bustling with diners. Luckily we had a table booked in advance.<br/><br/>Luke ordered the beef burger which was great. Nothing too special but on the other hand nothing to complain about as well. The chips were great, well-seasoned, but we would like it to be slighty crunchier. The sauce was enough in the burger, preveting it from being too dry while the patty was moist and balanced in taste. Solid 3.5/5 points.<br/><br/>Hannah got the southern chicken buger which was definitely better. The chicken was moist inside but crunchy on the outside. The meat was so tender and well marinated - we wish they make a special fried chicken night! The chips were good with extra seasoning. 4/5 points.<br/><br/>Service was polite and fast enough. Booking was easy and efficient. The decor was standard hipster Melbourne brunch place with exposed bricks and high ceiling.

Nice environment, easy going music and large spaces so that if you need to wait it won't be too long. Ordered a simple cappuccino and cheese and ham toast. Coffee was very light, mostly a cup of warm milk. The toasty was fine, just very thin slices of bread and for my liking it would have been better a 1cm thick slice. Didn't order any other item from the menu, so will have to come back before I can comment on it.

Beautiful set up. Friendly staff and really good food.<br/><br/>Hot cakes are a must. Coffee is in my top 10.<br/><br/>I have also had a work function here and it was amazing.<br/><br/>Busy during weekends and public holidays but it's worth the wait.

First visit to Hobba was a great one, had a simple hot chocolate and it was yummy! The staff were super attentive even turned off the heater (it was a surprisingly warm winters day) will definitely be returning!

Would go here again! I had the green bowl with asparagus which was SO oily it made me feel a bit sick but good flavours so I'd go back and try something new

Every time I have been to hobba it's been the same expectation of quality food, great service and fantastic atmosphere. I normally stay away from the menu and make my own breakfast up. Everything from bacon and eggs to haloumi cheese and mushrooms are well cooked every time and you can tell they don't go cheap on there produce. The service is quick and friendly. Coffee always hits the spot here I always have a latte. <br/><br/>Places like this always stand the test of time, no need for fancy dish names here or flowers thrown on everything like other places, just simple food done good.

I've been here a couple of times lately and have been very impressed. Service is relaxed and welcoming yet attentive. Coffee is great and the avocado dish with mushrooms was delicious.

I love Hobba ❤️<br/>You can't go past the smashed Avo! The coffees are always amazing. The staff here treat you like family not customers and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hobba to anyone. Thanks!!

Yes Yes Yes... I love it.. This place is taking breakfast in a new direction.. so many places in Melbourne are really going that extra mile  with the most important meal of the day and it's really appreciated.

I have eaten here so very often, I could rattle off the menu by rote then it changes. Two givens here. The food will be beautifully plated and will taste delicious. The crew are hit and miss, the coffee is terrific as is the vibe.

DO: The French toast, eggs Benny and smoothie. <br/><br/>DON'T: Forget about their awesome coffees. Perfect for weekends. <br/><br/>TIP: Awesome place for families and friends with loads of space and off street parking. Gets a little busy so be prepared to wait.

Had driven by here lots of times and finally stopped in on a Sunday for lunch and were very glad we did! Great setup with booths in the middle in which we sat facing the street. The food was terrific, service good too. A tad messy to eat, but well worth it. Don't just drive past, call in.

Its really been a while since I've been to Hobba. I really loved how its evolved over the years. I'm not a fan of the "slow cooked" slightly runny poached eggs, so I opted for the scrambled eggs, which were nicely done.
