Delighted this place is our new local. Fantastic wines and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Loved it!
We held a function here on Saturday and could not praise the experience enough. The venue is classy and perfect for an outdoor afternoon soiree and our guests were even more impressed by the superb interior, the large selection of beautiful wines on display was a main feature for us! The staff are accommodating and friendly and made the day easy going and enjoyable for the organizers. We recommend The Alps for your next event and for your new local ! Thankyou again ✨
LOVED this wine bar. It is quaint & inviting with a great selection of wines to choose from coupled which th amazing food. It's definitely a gem. 😉👍🏼
Incredible wine selection, highest quality service and friendly staff and a great vibe. Also welcomed my puppy in the pretty back coutursrd coupled with firewood and lovely conifers.
Gorgeous wine bar. We happily sat outside until we discovered an open fire in the back room, perfect for winter!!
Great atmosphere. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Im a boomerang
Very knowledgeable obliging and great service will come back
Great ambience, wonderful wines and expert staff. Loved it !!
A great place to catch up with mates, share stories and just enjoy!
Best bar in Melbourne! Great, knowledgeable staff and a awesome venue all round!
We came to Alps wine bar for a few drinks an a perusal of art in a small exhibition they were hosting. A cozy venue with a few tables at the front and a long group share table down the centre that doubled as a bar. A couple of draft beets on tap and an absolutely huge range of interesting wines that I took the time to look at in between the tin tin styled artist. Nicely packed out on a Thursday night and full of atmosphere.

Far enough from the morass of Chapel Street to not be annoying, but yet still satisfyingly close to public transport, The Alps is in a small pocket of Commercial Road that has a bit going for it. A short wander up from Atlas Dining, this place is a beacon for those in need of unpretentious booze and al fresco good times. There's a small interior stacked with litres upon litres of the good stuff, which you can either purchase to drink then and there, or take it away. The times I've roistered here have been made of all those excellent feels: it's truly one of those feel-good neighbourhood wine venues where you feel like the staff actually care. Who knew there were rad places to drink in Prahran? Put this place on your to-do list.
The perfect place for a date, a cozy catch up or simply a good glass of wine with a great cheese board. We love the vibe, the produce is great quality and overall an epic wine bar
Charming little wine bar. A huge selection of wines fills one wall almost entirely. The place was just cranking up when I arrived. Nice R&B mix playing. One Makers Mark on ice. Lovely. There’s a big big communal table in the center of the place which would no doubt go off completely as the evening wears on. Service was lovely. Polite and very helpful. Nice spot. It has a really good feel. Recommended.
Great little wine bar in Prahran. Been here on several occasions and it never disappoints. The service is friendly and attentive and the bar snacks are just what you need on the side. Found out you can even order pizza from next door!
Would love them to include if the wine is vegan on the menu just to top it all off :)
Thanks for a lovely few nights, will definitely be back!
I went here with a friend on a session called 'An introduction to natural wines'. If you didnt know, which I didn't before going, natural wine is wine made with minimal chemical and technological intervention. The night was really informative and I learnt about how natural wines are made and what to look for in terms of taste and varieties. I really enjoyed the orange wines in particular.
The people who work here are really friendly and passionate about their wine.
I also enjoyed the Tintin paraphernalia throughout the bar. This is a cosy, intimate wine venue with wall to wall wines. A great place for an after work wine or somewhere you want to take to impress but still be able to have a proper conversation because it's quiet.
What an amazing spot! The perfect place to go for a catch up with friends or a date. Beautiful ambience and amazing wines. They have a huge range of natural wines that taste amazing. Can't wait to go back to try more of their Vinos
I was lucky enough to attend the “ Intro to natural wines” session hosted by The Alps wine bar the other night . These sessions are every Monday and Tuesday night and it has the aim of educating and introducing a new movement towards exploring the concept of natural wines .
These wines are made with very minimal intervention chemically and technologically leaving the wine unfiltered and thus also untamed. The difficulty of doing this however is the unpredictability of the wine as it is still technical “alive” , it can either taste like liquid heaven or vinegar or some yeasty mess. Natural wines are also more cloudy in appearance and can be quite wild in flavour , they are also more prone to tasting like the notes you would detect when initially smelling the wine
We started the night off with some white wines, then moved onto some orange wines which were probably my favorite tasting of the night and then red wines . It was interesting to taste each glass and really thinking about the different layers of flavours. What was most exciting to me was how the taste of each glass evolved during the night as the wine is left to breathe
A cheese and meat board was also provided during the night to pair nicely with all the wine we had, brownie points for this as I LOVE CHEESE
All in all the information/ educational session was very interesting and fun , the host of the night was also very passionate and really knew his stuff ! It was great to learn so much about a drink I thought I already knew.
I would be happy to come back and try the rest of the food on offer whilst enjoying a few wines !
Thanks for having us!
Love grabbing a bottle here and chatting to the guys who know their stuff and are very friendly/approachable. Never fail to take home a good drop
This place is fantastic! came here to the Indian restaurant next door with work mates and came over to buy some wine- Yuri was fantastic, we ended up getting 6 bottles through the night and each matched the food perfectly. This place has an amazing ambience and the staff is fantastic. Highly recommended
Great selection of wines. Staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Had a charcuterie plate and a Jaffle. Awesome cosy atmosphere. Perfect spot for an after work drinks. Recommend it.
Great wine bar with knowledgable staff who clearly know their stuff. I love the fit out inside and the outside courtyard is a great space for groups especially if it's a warm night in winter or a balmy summers night. The wine wall is impressive and I especially like the central communal table which is the main feature of the wine bar. The only confusing element of this is that when we first walked in I couldn't tell the customers and the staff apart so we had to help ourselves to a table outside which was warm enough under the heater. We ordered wine and a cheese plate which were both excellent. Good amount of cheese which ample variety- soft and hard with a variety of crackers and bread. My only complaint is there should have been a bigger serve of quince paste! I'll definitely come back with friends as this is a great spot.
Extremely knowledgable staff, huge selection of wine and beer, delicious food, Beautiful venue, great court yard! Couldn't ask for anything else!
Lovely little wine bar. I really love the little room at the back, it's cosy and has a Scandinavian feel about it. Great little courtyard too. Beers on tap are a nice addition to their extensive wine selection.
Love this place. I've been a couple times now. The first time, I found the service to be lacking and the server to be borderline rude. The second time totally made up for the first. The terrine and pâté are soooooo good! We also got a cheese board (both times) and loved all of the different cheeses. Wine was very good. It can be a bit pricey (especially, if like us, you were making it into a dinner), but the quality is great and everything was very tasty. Also, by the second time I went they were offering gluten free crackers (brought my own just in case).
Amazing wine selection! And French Pinot Noirs too. We had our cheese with some extra wine there last night. Just warm, cosy and perfect. Very highly recommended. We'll be back very soon.
I went to this bar for a night cap fairly soon after opening. The wine selection is incredible with service to match. The staff are very knowledgable and helpful. The one downside for me was the volume inside the venue. With so many hard surfaces and a full room of people it gets very noisy. It also isn't particularly intimate sitting around one large table in the centre of the room.
Loved this place! Just popped in for a sneaky Sunday wine in the sun and we were really impressed with everything the Alps had to offer. Really comprehensive and interesting wine list and staff who know how to talk about it. The best bit was how incredibly well priced it is, to take away and also to drink there. Decor is stunning and it has a really great vibe (the music was a highlight).
I've been to sister venues Milton and Toorak Cellars but this is by far my favourite.
Can't wait to come back for a bottle of wine and to sample some of the food on offer.
As locals in Toorak my fave place has always been the Toorak Wine Cellars as they've got the best selection of boutique wine in town teamed with excellent staff with knowledge of the wines on offer.
So great they've opened their sister venue in Prahran - what a gorgeous fit out and more importantly the staff are fabulous as well. Lots of space! Inside, communal table, at the back a little cosy room and then out back for summer in the garden. Well priced and perfect to start and finish your night at. 5/5
