Review Prahran Hotel - Prahran

Big lovely venue and convenient location. We were given a large table inside the private dining room because the main room was quite full. House red wine is $6 for a small pour at happy hour, and I was offered a taste before buying, so that was nice. $22 rump steak was not so good, out of four people who ordered it, only one person was satisfied. Another person had to send hers back into the kitchen because it was too tough! The rump itself is a lean cut so it makes sense that it will be chewier than others, however at the price we paid it was not really good at all. Salad was good and enjoyed the bernaise sauce. Service was friendly and efficient. Apparently the $18 Parma was decent, said the people in our group who ordered it.

An interesting restaurant! Amazing design, good looking, butttttttt bad taste! Why??? The steak tastes like which from last century.

Great pub and food. Clever decor inside. Dining tables situated inside water pipes!! You gotta see it to understand

I hosted a 30th here and the event staff were a treat to deal with - very helpful and responsive! I highly recommend the Prahran Hotel for events. We also returned for dinner and had a great meal in the window booths - a cool place for a date night and night out with mates. Just off Chapel street, so it’s a bit quieter from the mania too.

Great atmosphere, great food and friendly helpful staff. A small group of friends and I spent a very relaxed and entertaining Saturday afternoon here. Started in one of the booths out the back near the courtyard (great spot), and then relocated to a table in front of a TV to watch the Tennis final. Nothing was an issue, and more than willing to accommodate us. This is place will become my new local. Highly recommend and I will definitely be back.

Staff were lovely, but the food took close to an hour to come because they forgot to put through our order (and pretended they hadn't). Would have respected if they told us the truth. Meals were average, salad was very poor- bit of iceberg lettuce mixed with some herbs and sauce. Don't recommend for a feed- left hungry

Hopefully by this side of Christmas when I stop chewing their steak I'll get over how much money I spent tonight.. btw this shouldn't be called mushroom sauce.. it's a paste... well I'm off now.. need to try and catch this movie.. we're watching Elvis tonight.. but were late because we literally waited 55min for the food to come out.

Ate here on a Wednesday evening to take advantage of the Steak and Parma night and was not disappointed. A great atmosphere, quick and easy service and a great value for money meal. Loved the tube dining seats we sat in - such a cool and edgy vibe. Staff were friendly and provided great service. Would recommend!

Went there for the Richmond Adelaide AFL Grand Final $80 function upstairs. Unobstructed view of screens, good atmosphere. Unlimited beer and wine included in price, no problem so far. Finger food was also included in price but the tiny morsels that arrived intermittently but not enough for everyone was frustrating and unnecessary. With open bar on beer and wine and given the event it would been have been much smarter to provide basic but regular finger food. Lets face it it doesn't cost much but maintains a positive responsible image. Many of the guests around me felt cheated and some even paid for bowls of chips to keep them going. I wouldn't mind dropping in there for a drink downstairs but wouldn't attend a catered event upstairs again. Too much competition out there that will deliver

We went on Steak and Parma night. Both the Steak and Parma were really nice with big servings for a specials night. Desserts were yummy, we highly recommend the lemon curd dessert and the pecan & pear tart. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Thank you to Nick & Lauren who looked after us for the night.

Thanks for making the end of our Easter Holiday and celebratory visit to Melbourne so memorable! We had wanted to visit the Prahran Hotel since seeing it in a design magazine two years ago (in New Zealand).... Last night we were completely blown away by the design and ambiance of the space. It was everything we were expecting and more! After making a reserreservation three months ago to ensure we got a tube seat the staff were so friendly and welcoming when we arrived. I failed to get their names, but please pass along our thanks to everyone who was wrking on Sunday night. At the end of the evening after a complementary glass of champagne to celebrate our engagement, great wine, delicious starters, mains and dessert (the apple crumble is to die for - or so I am told) we were left wishing that the Prahran was our local. Well be back next time we're in Melbourne. We can highly recommend the Prahran to anyone looking for a great place to have a drink or a delightful bite to eat. Thanks everyone at the Prahran - cheers - Donavin and Julia (PS .... She said yes!)

Great atmosphere and ok staff. Had dinner here last night, ordered a medium rare $38 grass fed steak with chips on the side. Boy Was I disappointed when it came out, steak was rare as hell with a hand full of chips and a baby cup of sauce. I complained to the Waitress who then took it back, they cooked it for a bit longer, still rare (pictures available if you believe I'm trash talking). Only ate 1/4 of the steak, thrashed the chips in 2 seconds. Was so disappointed I felt like I got robbed that night and felt like walking out without paying, but decided to just pay. Most likely will never come here again.

Great place to catch up with friends in gorgeous surroundings with great food. Loads of choice on the menu. Staff are friendly, and although you may have to ask for things a few times, it didn't take away from our experience. Definitely recommend, particularly a pipe-table!

I went for dinner last night and it was fantastic. Kingfish Ceviche was unbelievable!! Even the warmed olives were outstanding. My friends each had steak and ranked it in their top 3 steaks ever eaten and I had a classic parma which was perfect - chicken was moist and the perfect amount of napoli amd cheese. There was a mistake with our meal and Ben sorted it out very quickly and was very attentive. We will definitely be coming back! Oh and the oysters were also really good!

My friend accidentally knocked the table and my steak went all over me. The staff were absolute legends and replaced it at no charge. The stake is unreal and beer selection is great, will definitely come back again. Sorry for the mess and thank you for feeding me legends x

Nice place and was close by. (Just over the railway line) Food was great and quick to come. Nice decor.

We had two meals there whilst staying in Melbourne. The service was fantastic. Meals were of a high class. Keep up the great service Prahran Hotel.....would definitely recommend it!
Leanne Mountney
The meals were great. One of our party ordered the lasagne and it was big enough for two! It is a bit over priced but the food is good. The atmosphere is lovely and staff friendly. The duo there yesterday lunch time were very pleasant to listen to. We will be back!

Really sticky icky wicky slicky tricky non-shmicky tables. My girlfriend's arm hairs got stuck to the table, free arm hairwax but no good.

EDIT <br/><br/>I popped here over the weekend, it was fairly quiet being a Sunday afternoon.  It was a chilly winters day, the fire was roaring and it was so nice and cosy.  The bar inside is really nice and comfortable, my friend and I enjoyed a couple tap beers. <br/><br/>The bargirl was very friendly and offered to give us a couple samples to try to help us decide what to order.<br/><br/>A great pub to try.<br/><br/>ORIGINAL SCORE 3.5<br/><br/>Came here for a pre drink with a friend, haven't been here in years. The venue is very nice with different areas to sit which offer generous amounts of space. I ordered a wine which I asked the bartender to help with on a recommendation, it was a terrible cab sav. This is a nice place to come for a drink and would gladly come back but would definitely try some different wine.

As far as pubs go, Prahran Hotel is one of the best in terms of the interior design, space and menu.<br/>I really like the large booths against the windows that have a circular timber frame design.<br/>There are also a variety of levels and function rooms available with terraces. <br/><br/>I came here on a Saturday evening for an early dinner, and as expected, there were rowdy groups having drinks, but I took sanctuary at a dining booth upstairs.<br/><br/>• Salted Cod Croquettes – nice crumb and crispy, the taste reminded me of fish fingers, rather than a funky salted cod.<br/><br/>• Fish & Chips – a couple excellent pieces of fish with a crispy batter, the fish inside was firm, juicy, thick and flaky. Nice touch with the caramelised grilled lemon which just gushed juice. The chips just passed as crispy, but didn’t really make me go back for more. Love the hint of dill in the tartare sauce.<br/><br/>• Pork Chop – the large pork chop was nicely crumbed, but there were sections of the chop that were a little dry as it naturally is when lean pork is overcooked. Although the salsa verde and broadbeans really provide an extra kick of flavour.<br/><br/>The Prahran Hotel is still a great place to have drinks with a group of friends, purely due to the location, people and vibes.

Came to this local pub to support the Parma for a Farmer initiative, and boy am I glad I chose the Prahran Hotel because the Parma's here are on point! The crumbed chicken is so crunchy and went perfectly well with the delicious napoli sauce as well as the thick cut chips. I also appreciated that the side salad was not drowning in dressing as many pub salads are. In fact I don't think it was dressed at all, which is the way I like it. Great place for a local drink and pub meal!
Picky
Good food, great choices of craft beer. Terrible customer service as always. Tables are always dirty and sticky, staff doesn't clean the tables.
Good Food Good Mood
I’ve previously dined at the Prahran hotel of a Saturday night and love the sleek modern venue. What was once a typical pub has long ago been transformed into quite the stunning spot whilst maintaining classic pub fare at reasonable prices. Tonight we were invited to a private function in the upstairs space and enjoyed some crisp sauv blanc and boutique beers. I would thoroughly recommend this for an event as it has an excellent location, fabulous interior and great food and drink
Red Mind
I went here with my partner for dinner. We both asked for steaks, which were really good. The atmosphere is also great. The place design is beautiful and the service was kind and fast.

A birthday lunch with 3 ladies so our table was perfect- in a quiet area right in front of the fire. Started with $10 Aperol spritz, I had steak (with truthfully was a bit tough), friends had the parma & roast of the day. All good sizes & tasty. Then we had the sticky date pudding washed down with an espresso martini (both were bloody amazing!) We then a little after lunch drink of berry gin which is a lovely pink hue & very refreshing. Staff were friendly & helpful. All in all a fabulous "ladies who lunch" afternoon. We'll be back!

Don't let the unassuming exterior deter you! This hotel has great food, and the interior is very cool (the only complaint would be that the lighting is too dark and can be a little cold in some places).<br/><br/>I ordered the Spiced Cauliflower dish and would happily eat it again. The cauliflower was roasted just nicely (crunchy on the outside but firm yet soft on the inside), and the cous cous salad with walnuts underneath was divine. Coupled with the yoghurt sauce as the base, it was an extremely flavourful dish.<br/><br/>Our table also ordered the green beans with chilli and parmesan; and was a lovely addition. It's a good size as a side dish and just added that extra veggie accompaniment to the table.<br/><br/>One friend ordered the burger with chips and said it was nice, while the other friend had the gravlax salad. She said the salad was nice, and it certainly looked pretty; however I don't think she was enamoured with it overall.<br/><br/>The staff are happy and polite, so I would definitely recommend and return here.

After a 75 minute wait our food finally arrived. My $23 burger was meagre and poorly seasoned, the fries were limp and under salted. The highlight was when the waiter listened to my assessment of the meal, refunded my money and gave me a free drink. <br/>Unfortunately my 3 companions all ordered fish and chips, the fish portions were tiny and overcooked, accompanied with limp fries and a quartered cos lettuce. Terrible value at $26 per person.
Sam Watson
Pleasantly surprised with the food here. All your typical pub fare with a few nice additions.<br/><br/>We had<br/>• Chicken Parma<br/>• Cauliflower with Couscous<br/><br/>The food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. Very fast service which was nice. The chicken parma was pretty good. About as good as a parma can be really. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was still quite juicy. The fries were likewise perfectly cooked. Only thing I would say is the salad was a little bland. The cauliflower was also rather pleasant. The yoghurt sauce was especially good. The couscous were really big though. Never seen couscous like that before but they ended up being a little bit dry.<br/><br/>The interior is quite nice, especially for a pub. Very enjoyable atmosphere.<br/><br/>Come here if you’re in the area or if it’s a cheap parma night.
Melbourne To Mouth
Came recently for an event for Good Beer Week and definitely wasn’t disappointed! So many amazing food options and definitely better than regular pub grub.<br/>The upstairs function area is a great spot and doesn’t miss out of any of the ambience from downstairs with the open set up.<br/>Definitely coming back for more of a meal next time!

The Prahran Hotel is one of my favourite pubs in Melbourne! The food and set out is amazing. Its such a great pub for winter as it is super cosy, I always ask for the table by the fire! Would definitely recommend the parma or the half chicken, they are my favourite dishes. Also the squid and chorizo for entree are delicious. Definitely recommend checking it out!
Foodserra
I had a private function here and couldn’t fault it! The food was cooked perfectly and was full of flavour. Lamb shoulder was so tender that you didn’t need your knife, it just fell off the bone. <br/>Staff were friendly and helpful and were accomodating to some last minute changes.<br/>Would recommend and would come back!

Went there for a team lunch and service was exceptionally bad today. We have been a few times and the decor is nice, modern and generally has a good atmosphere, hence we don't mind going there.<br/><br/>However, service can be a hit and miss at times and today they were just rude. If you're sitting in the courtyard area, sometimes you can order food at the courtyard bar there but most times you order at the main bar inside. When we went to order at the courtyard bar, we were told to order at the main bar instead. There were two staff there just standing there doing nothing except taking drink orders once in a while. That was fine, the 8 of us went to the inside bar to order. But when we came back from ordering and sat back at the table, we saw the staff taking food orders from the courtyard bar from other people after telling us that we can't order there? Double standards!<br/><br/>Then there was the issue of food. I ordered the 300g Porterhouse steak with mushroom sauce, medium rare, was the 1st to order and the last to get my food. The rest of the group ordered Chicken Parma and Burgers. My colleagues all received their food orders within 10 mins and after 20 mins of waiting, finally got a waitress to ask where my steak was. By then, most of the group had already finished their food. She went to the kitchen and came back and advised that the steak would be out shortly. They basically forgotten my order, since other tables that ordered after us had their parmas, fried fish etc before my steak! 30mins since I ordered, my steak finally arrived! It does not take 30mins to cook a medium rare steak and it came out medium-well done! When I voiced my unhappiness that it took so long for my steak and we had a meeting to go to, she just gave a lame excuse and said there were other orders in front of mine (like 20 other food were served before mine) and basically just had a "don't care" attitude and walked off. Would have appreciated it more if she was honest and sincere and said they forget my order than a rude excuse.<br/>In addition to that, the steak was bland, no taste at all, even with the mushroom sauce all over it. Don't order the steak!<br/>We've had chicken parma and the burgers before and they were good, so stick to that.<br/><br/>After I had to gulp down my meal and as we were leaving, I was walking up to the guy at the main bar inside who took my order to ask what the issue was with my steak order and he saw me coming and quickly took off out the bar to walk into the kitchen to avoid me! What a coward, don't even dare to  take accountability.<br/><br/>After this kind of service and average food, we definitely won't be coming back again. There are many other better pubs and restaurants in Prahran area for the same price and better service. Try the College Lawn around the corner, it's much better and real pub food and nicer staff.

Went to the Prahran for my friends going away - the venue was beautiful, we sat in awesome circular pipes. Our waitress, zoe was wonderful! Very smiley and loved a laugh, gave great advice on the food and explained and gave great insight of the menu. Made our experience very memorable. Definitely back again and recommending to our friends.

Booked a table of 6 for the Bottomless Mimosa Sunday deal they had last month.Loved the set up on the inside, pretty and sun filled.<br/>Snacked on dips and chips throughout our two hours there.<br/>Service was pleasant, ambience was amazing.<br/>Will go back :)

I can’t believe the chef doesn’t think he needs to provide more than one vegetarian option. So it’s a salad or vegetable sides. So disappointing because this restaurant would be awesome but now limits me and my friends. Staff amazing.

We enjoyed a lovely meal of oysters followed by sharing a char grilled rib eye on the bone with sides of potatoes and baby dutch carrots. Simply put the meal was sensational. We enjoyed the relaxed and warm ambience of the dinning area. Our waiter Lauchie gave great advice regarding the menu and beverages. The service was outstanding!<br/>#finedinning<br/>#steakinmelbourne<br/>#outstandingservice

New menu with their new Columbian chef. As a vegetarian I was pleasantly surprised how fantastic the vego options were! We had the potted lentils with fried eggplant which was so tender I've been dreaming of it ever since. The potatoes were to die for and the zucchini with some kind of corn relish was really refreshing to balance it all out. Will be back again! Also a big fan of the cocktail menu - I had a passionfruit one which was by far the best cocktail I've had in ages!

I must say I was totally surprised, I have to confess I've never been and I made the number one mistake of rating based on name / others feedback. I accidentally had a drink there and proceeded to have something to eat, from the ambiance, to the warmth of the waitress that greeted me, I felt very much at home, the food was also way above expectation and quantity erred on the side of "pub meal" which was pleading to see, I could only not give it a five as for the price of my few smaller dishes I would expect the taste to be incredible and lasting. Well done Prahran Hotel.

My partner and I came for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. Our waitress was lovely, attentive and very helpful. The food was fantastic, but rated it 4 out of 5 due to portion size being a bit small for the price.
Fanny Foodie
Beautiful place, had dinner in the bubble and loved it. Service was so so. Waiters were forcing us to take more dish as the main take long time to be served. But no thanks. Had the large steak which was good but the sides potatoe rosti were underbaked so a bit crispy.
Eating Sushi
Food (7/10): got the steak special on Wednesday for lunch and it was pretty good. The steak looked dry and burnt when I received the meal but definitely didn't taste like it. For $18, I enjoyed this dish for the value. <br/><br/>Service (8/10): service was great as staff is friendly and attentive <br/><br/>Ambience (8/10): the interior looked very nice and fancy but wouldn't come here for a date as the price of the food doesn't match the quality or value.
Stelyios
Parmigiana was very nice. Tasty and actually was proper chicken! Chips were very nice. <br/><br/>Went on a non-Parma night which meant that prices were $24. Still fairly reasonable for an inner city location. Service was terrific and everyone from bar tender to waiter were certain talkative. <br/><br/>There's a reason it's rated as a great Parma. <br/><br/>Tip: get in early and sit on the second level for a beautiful view onto High Street.
Nick X Thomson
Very average food indeed. I imagine they rely heavily on the punters being intoxicated to actually think that this food was worth parting with any money at all for. And it wasn't cheap either!<br/><br/>Portions were also pretty stingy. The fries: flavourless. Honestly; McDonald's fries are better. The aioli that accompanied them? Mediocre.<br/><br/>Our other menu items included a soggy mess of a chicken burger and some utterly disappointing chorizo croquettes. How awesome do they sound?! Something like that should taste amazing and full of flavour. They were as bland as Clag.

16$ Parmas on wednesday, YES✔️ !! The parmas were delicious, both my boyfriend and I loved it! The service was good and friendly & the place look amazing!

Recently attended birthday dinner on wednesday night. Food was great. We all had steakes with salad. The dressing in the salad was so good that we asked for chefs recipe. Lovely place to have a nice dinner. We will be coming back soon. Thanks again for great food!!
Jean
I have been here a few times for their steak or Parma special. The food is not always consistent, even if you are with how you ask for your meat to be cooked but at the price they charge on special, not really worth making a fuss over. The windows look fantastic here so if you can get a seat at the window, it is awesome. I gets very busy and loud at times though so if this is a bother, avoid!
Luke Strehle
Very unique layout with a very cool industrial setting. Service is good and the food is fairly nice and well portioned. Only letdown is the absence of cooling on a hot day but regardless a great place to eat. Certainly would return 😊
More Food And Wine
Wow, this place oozes niceness with cozy booths and great service from a pretty switched-on bunch of (mainly) young things.  With a great range of tap beers and a decent wine list we thought we were in for a great Friday night birthday dinner, then the music (a duo) started.  We are a family bunch and the ages and interests vary quite a lot but we all agreed that the background music shouldn't compete with our conversation, it should be in the background.  On the flipside, the food didn't cause a lot of noise on the table.  The menu is smallish and probably more suited to the bar than the restaurant.  Three of us had the papardelle  which read like a dream but wasn't matched by flavour.  After promising ourselves to dine here for quite some time, the reality didn't meet the expectation.

Met a bunch of the girls here on a Friday after work, I like this place. Roomy enough that it isn't crowded but still with atmosphere. Food was good, lamb cutlets and John Dory were highlights... although think the fish was a touch over priced for what it was. But that's just nit picking really. service was friendly and would recommend it for casual dinner/drinks if in the area
Sensaikai
Having had three parmas in the last seven days already, the Wednesday Parma special here was a pleasant surprise. The crust was a bit too thick, but the meat was succulent and the sauce was rich. Chips were good too but salad needed a bit more love.

Tasting plater is the worst ive ever had. 1/10 Overpriced and the taste of what was there was subpar. Recommend one of the many other local establishments
JB
It had been and long time between drinks at the Prahran, the venue looks great. Unfortunately the food has dropped off. I had the porterhouse, which was cooked perfectly yet it hit the table cold not sure if this sits with the floor staff or kitchen? Back in the day the place pumped, Saturday night there was my booking plus another 30ish and a few in the bar. The people are speaking with their feet. Had a fun night regardless. Next time we'll eat elsewhere and go there for a bevy.
Hungry Ronin
Gorgez interior design; but you'd be remiss to only bask in PH's looks. The food here is excellent. When you think about "gastro pub" this place should come to mind. I've been here before for the steaks and wasn't disappointed. This time I tried the meatballs and bread&butter pudding...both executed well albeit the sauce on the former was a tad sweet for my liking. The chips we had were also crisp and tasty. Would not mind at all to have this place as my local.
Sesel
Really one of the best places to catch up with a group of friends. You will always find a group of spare seats and the live music is quite good. Share some chips or grab a chicken parma, nice place.
Harrykarakinos
Food and service never disappoints, the place probably needs a slight renovation however the food is better than the average pub fare. Live music and great location.

Details: the venue in this place is just gorgeous and super creative! When I came with my family we sat in one of the private booths down the stairs (it's not even private but it feels like it is because you have your own little steps and seclusion, so cute!) The drinks here are always good 😍 and great vibes! <br/><br/>What to order: I am not giving a higher rating because I honestly was not happy with my chicken sandwich (I purely did not choose correctly).... the bread was like McDonald's bread and it just looked effortless and not very tasty. HOWEVER, my sister in law got the chicken Parma which she loved and my Mum loved her pasta as well! Therefore... I just chose incorrectly! I want to come back and try another meal!<br/><br/>Service: received our meals quite promptly!
JZY
I have to say this, the best chips always come from a bar. The beer battered chips made me grateful for living around. They were unbelievable crunchy outside but light and soft inside. Don't forget the Taiwanese chicken burger, there's barely any chicken burgers could be better. Please forgive me knowing nothing about beers, couldn't leave any comments on them.
The City Lane
When The Prahran Hotel was purchased by Sand Hill Group, they embarked on a project to update the venue and in the process, ended up with one of Melbourne’s most architecturally striking pubs.

Interesting place and groundbreaking design. Ordered a market fish dish. Friend said was bit bland, but I actually quite liked it, herbed butter was nicely blended with grilled lemon juice, some cooked green leaves under were finely soaked with the sauce. The fish skin was crispy tho the actually meat was little bit too light ( yeh I know). Staff were attentive and services were great
Joe
I came here once and had a relatively good burger but tonight: my food orders were rejected twice when they came around to ask for my order. "Oh sorry we don't have any burgers left," etc. I ordered a Parma and have been waiting around 50 minutes (and counting) and it's hella quiet in here. My weird housemate has only ordered a salad too. I mean, what's the maximum wait time for a plate of lettuce? Will update on my progress.<br/><br/>Update: Yeah, Parma was massive and pretty good. I get the impression that the wait isn't usually this long, so I'm sympathetic. Mistakes happen. The massive booths by the window are real cool too if you're lucky enough to score one.
Ihoward
Came here on a busy Saturday night for dinner and some drinks. Service was friendly. Ordered some share plates, unfortunately they were very small and couldn't be shared between more than two people. The bread and dip was nice, bread was fresh but there was a spoonful dip at most. It didn't go far between 4 people. Calamari was delicious and by far my favourite. The broccolini was over cooked and plain. The chips were burnt and had to be sent back. The roast vegetable salad with chicken was nice but tiny for $22. It was an interesting atmosphere, with the dining area and bar area very close. We had a very drunk man intrude on our dinner at one point. Overall, meals were small and overpriced. I would come back for drinks but not food.
Ryan Hearps
I love the this place, since the renovations have been done it's really opened up the area. It's light and airy inside, whilst being so large inside there are still plenty of seperate areas for you to sit back relax and enjoy a wine and a great meal. <br/><br/>My personal favourite at the moment is the Terrine which is full of flavour, fluffy and matched with a great relish. The bartenders are always great and make a mean cocktail. <br/><br/>If you can I'd recommend eating in the funky cylinder booth seats and definitely try their negroni's!
Chef Samy
Ambiance pub mais ambiance romantique au coin du feu en buvant un verre de vin et une bonne assiette de parma. Staff souriant et serviable. Super belle etablissement. See u soon...

I think prahran hotel needs to step it up a bit.<br/>I have gone there quite a few times: with my gf and my mates. We all agree on one thing everytime: the food is 'ok'. No real signature dishes - burgers ok, Parma ok and steak ok.<br/>I had the steak last week and it was quite poor when compared to Wolf and I: who do it on Monday for $20.<br/>Great settings and good for a group. I think if the food improves this place would be quite popular.
Steve Levon
Great food with an awesome atmosphere for a pub. It's such a cool little place with some really good quality food in a place that makes you feel at home. Will definitely go back 👍

The new and improved Prahran Hotel is fab. Great atmosphere. Good Parma night specials and a nice little internal beer garden that makes for a great meeting place on a balmy night.
Chloe Bao
Came here on a Wednesday and had the steak and parma special, both meals were $15 and came with chips & salad. Steak was cooked to perfection and the pepper sauce was delish. The parma was crispy and thick, with the perfect sauce to cheese to chicken ratio
Jason Olive
Salads are alright but the classics are great.<br/><br/>We go here a lot for work lunches and the staff are great. Food comes out nice and quickly and there's some great tables for large groups. I've had the salads here but the classics and my go to, the Parma, burgers etc.<br/>Their hot chips are addictive 🙌
Themkc
Beautiful setting, private dining, and overall a very nice atmosphere but food leaves something to be desired. The main issue is that the prices are above average for pub food and it really doesn't hold up.<br/><br/>Some dishes are good. Friend got slow cooked beef rib and it was by all accounts delicious. Some dishes are pretty bad. Mine was a $24 slow cooked lamb salad. Lamb was dry as bone and the dressing lacked any punch. For the price you pay, you'd expect more.<br/><br/>I'd come here again for drinks and chips I suppose, but I can't imagine coming here again for a meal.
The New Fave
With its iconic round windows, dining table come dance floor and gorgeous outdoor courtyard, Prahan Hotel is a favourite among Melbournites - but would you ever eat there?  Well we certainly did and, in a word, it was 'nice'. . After finding ourselves a seat (please book if you want to eat there!) I decided to opt for the more traditional pub fare and went for the chicken schnitzel burger with cheese, slaw and hot sauce ($23). The chicken was cooked well but could have done with more seasoning, and the burger itself was sparse on the spicy sauce, making it lack in the necessary zing to liven up the dish.  However, the chips that accompanied the burger were well seasoned and delicious and the overall meal definitely filled me up.

Our local pub. It's very trendy, have a great atmosphere and crowd. Their food are great too especially the wagyu burger and steak sandwich. <br/>

Really unimpressed when I tried the Prahran Hotel..the food was terrible though I really do love the interior and tubular design of booths! Its a shame. Definitely a 'drinks only' place.

A1 Parma<br/><br/>- Chicken 4.25/5<br/>- Cheese 4/5 Good but needs more<br/>- Tomato 3/5 Cheese was better<br/>- Chips 2/3 nice n salty<br/>- Salad 2/3 onion was a nice touch, dressed well
I Like Good Food...
Really nice feed! <br/>We had the calamari & chicken tenders to kick things off, delicious!! I went with the seafood linguini for my main, was just a tiny bit dry but that didn't stop me from devouring it, really lovely flavor. The other half went with the rump steak, said it was a little tough to cut (cooked medium) but tasty to eat....will be back again for sure!!

Wednesday nite steak nite... Great value!! Steak was beaut. Opted for veges and mash for an extra few $ but was worth every cent. Will definitely be back

Amazing food and fantastic service. First time visitor and definitely will return. Food was delicious and one.of the best burgers I have ever had.<br/>Table service was amazing, thank you to Georgie. See you soon

Good place for a drink, but expensive food.. Have been here a couple of times for drinks with friends, and it's generally a nice night - drinks tend on the pricey side, but they do good value specials. And the chips/wedges from the bar menu are brilliant.<br/>Aside from the chips, any of the other food I've had here has been on the anti-climactic side - the portions are small, and the food is just a bit lack-lustre. To ad to that, the last time I sat in the restaurant area we were whisked out of our seats bang on 8pm, which aside from being pre-warned about the 8pm table sitting, our meals had taken a very long time to be delivered and not all of our party had finished our meals when we were asked to leave... <br/>I certainly wouldn't be going back for dinner, but the lemon meringue cocktail is an absolute must on a girl's night out.

The Prahran Hotel is like a bag of mixed lollies; it’s a bit of a surprise bag. Not only does it have a great bar, dance floor and footy-watching atmosphere, the food is better than you’d expect too (although not Michelin-stared either, and not the best in the area. Hello The Smith). While they serve up your standard pub fare of burgers and beer battered fish, there are a few dishes on the menu that you wouldn’t expect to find in a pub.
Two Sheds
Saw the middling scores and ate here with a little trepidation. Needn't have worried. Had the swordfish on a bed of rice with scallops. New on the menu apparently. It was a wonderful dish. Very generous serves of swordfish (two fillets) and rice was lovely and seemingly well doused with seafood stock. About four other people at the table has the same dish and loved it as I did. Well done. Really good dining. Service was very good too. Our young blonde waitress was very efficient and friendly and quite the wag. On the basis of this dish and the good service I would happily return.

The WORST steaks ever! I never write these reviews but this place was absolutely woeful. Went there for steak night and our steaks tasted like charcoal, the mushroom sauce was barely a watered down gravy, and they came to us almost immediately after ordering. If I can go to an RSL in Brunswick and get the best steak I've ever had, why can't I get the same at your establishment? Shameful.
Liam Isaac Ward
Steak night at the Prahran Hotel. Never again. Steak over done, came way too quickly, so-called mushroom sauce was just water and brown. People need to know.
Stuck In Transit
Since we were only here for a quick drink and some nibbles, I ordered a few sharing dishes for the 3 of us. The style of food is definitely your typical pub fare with a variety of different items to choose from. We decided to go with the ‘Buffalo chicken wings’ coated in Franks Hot Sauce, ‘Salt and pepper squid’ with herb salad and citrus aioli, ‘Pulled Pork Sliders’ , and the ‘Arancini Balls’ with tomato sauce and rocket. By far my favourite was the arancini.
Parma Daze
For $21 it didn’t sting too badly for what we got, If I was at The Prahran again I’d consider having it again, but wouldn’t go out of my way to get it. They run a $13 Tuesday & Wednesday parma night which would definitely be worth checking out, even if just to see the great renovations.

Japanese pancakes with prawns and a glass of Pinot Grigio, thank you

An anazing exoerience fior lunch. We had a wonderful lunch with friendly and genuinely helpful staff topped by the wonderful sounds of Tom and Jay

Food was the worst thing I've ever put in my face. Ever. Give up.

More Fitzroy Street than Greville Street. The menu on line looks good. So does the wine list.<br/>The staff are nice, but seemed surprised when I gave a 10% tip.<br/>That tells you something about the clientele.<br/>The decor is weird — still trying to work out what the designer was trying to achieve.<br/>Food is tres ordinaire. Wine is good but all these guys have to do is choose that.<br/>How do they survive when the standards of food throughout Australia currently are so high?
Andrew.freeth
Spot for parma. We had to get a chicken parma in while we were in Melbourne given the popularity of them over there and their relative absence in New Zealand. $14 Tuesday and Wednesday's which is great value and it was a good one, moist chicken, nice Neapolitan sauce. There are also some cool design elements to the pub especially the stacked concrete cylinders on the side of the building which form booths.
Lucid
$14 Parma/steak tuesdays. .... $14 Parma/steak tuesdays.<br/><br/>Great place - very friendly staff, no big delays in food orders, and the $14 chicken parmagiana was bigger than I thought it would be. <br/><br/>No complaints.
Melbourne Eater
Bad service. Given there is so much competition in prahran, the service needs to improve. The wine is expensive and when under poured below the wine glass line and questioned, the response was "you are scraping the bottle of the barrel". Very rude response when paying $11 for a glass of wine and where there are many options to drink in. Will choose many of the prahran options next time.

We are a group of friends were at PH last night, we had meals in the restaurant which were pretty good, but stuff were a bit slow; the venue were really busty so that's probably why. We liked the renovation a lot; looks awesome. Enjoyed the music. By the end of the night a group of drunk people were loud and aggressive, but security guards got them out really quick and professional, all of us liked to watch that :)<br/>Thanks PH!

Great design, but staff are unfriendly and food leaves a lot to be desired!
Deanricho_1999
Festivus - Better than ok. Enjoyed my meal no doubt about it and the service and ambience good<br/>I would call it a safe PUB<br/>Try the Parma ;)<br/>Many other options too
Carissa Palmrose
Great pub meals, lovely waitress and nice atmosphere! Had dinner here with friends on Tuesday night and were lucky to get a table. The $14 porterhouse or parma special is great value. I think all the bad reviews about this place are because of the security guards because we couldn't fault it.
Mel
Ill give you the positives...well...the positive..lovely waitress. <br/><br/>After dining and drinking at the Prahran...I would never again. <br/><br/>Ganged up by 4 male security gaurds to us 3 girls and forced to leave our pints we were stupidly sold 5 minutes before closing was not the way we intended the evening to finish. <br/><br/>Your security needs to learn tact, manners and hospitality.... Hunting in packs of 4 or 5 and bullying female patrons certainly makes you wonder what they are like when the "security tags" come off. Pathetic power-trippers

American bouncer is horrible, avoid this place.. Don't bother going here until they've fixed the staff. This guy on the door should not be in a people services industry, I think jail would be a better fit. He racially abused my wife. Not worth the bother for an average pub with below average food.
R
Horrible. The guys on the door (one with an American accent) was abusive and rude. I was abused at the door, treated like a second-class citizen and physically intimidated. I would never go there again. Disgusting, threatening staff and extremely poor service. Do not go there.

Beatiful Renovation, Poor service. I visited the Prahran hotel a few months after it's opening. I had an early dinner reservation for 6-8 people Myself and partner arrived on time but most of the guests where running late due to finishing up from work the waiter kept approaching the table and asking us when the other guests where coming. We were made to feel like we had to keep ordering things to stay on the table so we did. After a short while the waiter became more harassing to the extent of asking me to call them and see where they were. I found this behavior disgusting and moved the expected posy down to another pub on chapel street.
Christopher Paul
Great venue with good quality pub food. I took my wife and mother in-law here for dinner and got some good service. We ended up stayed on to watch the footy. Thanks to the Prahran crew for a great night.
M
Needs better service. I really wanted to like it despite reading the reviews. The interior was so modern and really great atmosphere for drinks. We had a booking for 8 but our table was taken so we were set on a table that had us divided. The service was crap and food was tasty but overpriced for pub food. Our waiter was rude and clearly had some attitude problems. No apologies for a item they had run out, just told us we couldn't have it. Expected more from a pub that charged so much.
Lior.harel
Clowns. Dined at the Prahran Hotel last night. Had a booking but was seated 45 mins late.<br/><br/>We both ordered steaks - cooked medium. Both came cooked 'well-done'. Staff were friendly and offered to have new steaks cooked for us 'medium'. 2nd round of steaks came back cooked more 'well-done' than the first round! <br/><br/>Staff apologetic but received no attention from Manager, nor even an offer of a complimentary drink. Staff reluctantly agreed with my suggestion that we not be charged for the meal (which we didnt eat!). <br/><br/>Wouldn't go back.
Brendan Quinn
Currently waiting for the waiter to finish his dinner so he can take our order. At 7.30pm.

Prahran... Home of the modern day hipster, where guys can where girls clothes and girls can wear a suit with no one asking a question. We were escorted to a seat in one of the round bubbles, a great surprise to a more private dinning area... We had a steak and Parma. Parma was great and steak was fresh,... This was accompanied by a bowl of chips with pepper sauce. All in all it's very good, not overly cheap.. 110 for two of us with a bottle of wine and no desert. Our waiter suggested mixing strawberry and apple cider.... A true hipster suggestion. Definitely would come back... Ill Make sure I'm wearing chinos though.

Average food. I have been here a few times and each time I give it a second chance but tonight was the last straw.<br/><br/>burnt rock hard $10 slab of microwave-packet-mix brownie with a scoop of ice cream. <br/><br/>go there for a drink but have dinner first :)
Mike Culnane
Great atmosphere, food was excellent & the service brilliant - thanks Stacey
Bb82
Mediocre. A great place to go for drinks with friends. Venue is well presented and welcoming with a lovely beer garden to drink in. Staff have always been friendly and had great service. Wouldn't bother going for food. Average steaks and way way too overpriced for typical pub food which is a shame as more people would use it as there local pub.
Brad
Fun Venue with great food and service. After reading all the bad reviews I wasn't that excited to learn we had a booking for 8 here last Saturday. I was therefore more than pleasantly surprised to have a brilliant night. I arrived early and had a drink in the bar and then when everyone arrived we moved into an 8 seat booth downstairs. Service was attentive, food was fantastic and both the wine and meal prices were very reasonable. Would definitely recommend it if you're after a fun night out with family and friends. Only minor fault would be that the music was so loud you had to shout to hear each other talk (but I am 43, so maybe its not designed for people that old).
Shaz LovesFood
Went there for family lunch last Thursday & found the pub pleasant in every way. Service was friendly, if a little slow but we were in no rush. <br/>I had the stuffed chicken breast & loved it, almost licked my plate! <br/>Interior design of hotel was magnificent. I would go back again. Don't know what all the bad reviews are about. I'm your friend prahran hotel. Big hugs

Came here on a quiet Arvo for drinks and a steak. First round the steak came out looking good, salad and all. However, we asked for medium rare and got a well done steak. Sent it back, second time round the salad looked older and the steak was still a medium well, plus the second steak tasted bland and seemed to be defrosted, hence the overcooking. For 30 bucks a potterhouse you would at lease expect a fresh piece of beef. How hard is it to cook a piece of meat medium rare?
Kane Dowsett
Nice venue. We had a group Christmas lunch with friends yesterday (10 people) but were left a little disappointed. The food was pretty sloppy, not warm, and service was friendly, but not the best - we were upstairs and kept sending someone down to ask for service. Before we ordered dessert we were told we had to leave for an incoming booking. Shame, as the venue is really nice.
Ally Marsh
Nice place food not great. Lovely venue, service was friendly and efficient!! Food was pretty bad, steak no good and barely any chips. Hope it gets better at the steaks
Tony Plunkett
You can stick your share plates up your ...., fantastic decor and layout let down by the worst presented and lack of value food I have encountered in years.
Brandi
Great......until the food arrives. Overpriced. Small plates. Disappointing.
Jonathan Ong
Overpriced very average food. steak was ok. pasta and risotto was bad. we booked a few days in advance and asked specifically to sit in the tube. when we got there, they didn't put us in the tube and upon asking they gave a lot of attitude. they eventually gave us the seat we had booked for but not without a "well someone else can't sit there now" to make us feel bad for requesting it. it's a cool space but other than that pretty bad
Gwen Wendy OToole
Spectacularly Average. We went in twice in one week for social events. Once was for a lunch and we received great service (the pub was empty as it was a week day) went back over the weekend to find they were "out" of almost everything on the menu and the staff couldn't be any less interested in the customers if they tried. <br/><br/>There's so many other places to go nearby, I doubt we'd ever go back.
StyleS
Please read the bad reviews they are there for a reason... Wish I had. This place should just stick to drinks because that's what they are good at. Food is very very ordinary for the price it is, our risotto was undercook, cold and slathered on a plate , seafood overpriced for what it is served with. How a place like this justifies there prices for such poor quality. Listen to your customers!!! The bad reviews on the food are there for a reason because the good is bad quality
Deserefranko
Annoyed and Confused. Came into the Prahran for a wine with a girlfriend. NOT IMPRESSED! Lipstick marks on my wine glass. They replaced it after a bit of huff. We decided to try some nibbles. Meatballs, tasteless balls of yuk. Soft shell crab, soggy watery blob. Quickly finished our wines and left. Revamp looks great but the staff and food need HELP!
Patrickjones
Pattjonesy. Came in for steak night. Thought $13 can't go wrong. Well wrong I was. The worst piece of chewey meat I have ever had the displeasure of ever had. Avoid this place.
Charlotte
Great Local. I really cannot understand the bad reviews this place has received. I live nearby and come once to twice a fortnight. Excellent spot for drinks, cannot fault it. I've eaten here fairly regularly and always enjoyed the food. Have brought friends along a few times and they also liked the food. I probably see the Prahran as a Watering Hole as opposed to somewhere I would purposely pick for dinner but I always pop along for the steak night and it is EXCELLENT. Steak is perfectly cooked, delicious sauce (I always have peppercorn), comes out quickly and the chips that come with it are great. Can't fault it for $13!!
Foodie Kate001
Just missed the mark. great for ambience and a relaxed drink but give the food a miss. The tuna salad rated as less than average. Take rocket, bean sprouts and throw in an over generous handful / fistful of unwashed gritty coriander, average grade seared tuna, chilli and a horrid soy style dressing and that's what you get. It could have been fabulous but was so far from it. pity as they could really have the place humming. The staff need training and dress code, hair out, gym shoes, handling rim of glass etc. Just not quite on the mark but with the potential to get there ...
VYN
Service was friendly. Steak & chips for $13 was good value.
Bobby The Cat
Used to come here years ago and loved it BUT we tried their $13 steak nite - thats 300 grams - four of us ordered the same medium rare and wr received the most tasteless (do they freeze them?) lumps of over cooked dog meat laced with fat and gristle. Will never be back!
29Bella
Give it a miss.. Very disappointed & never going back. Only good thing is the refurb.
MDmelb
Food is really REALLY bad!! <br/>Arrogant staff - with all Prahran has to offer don't stop here!
Hayley Fraser
Very disappointed with this place. First visit had a risotto which was missing half of the ingredients listed on the menu and was very average for the price. Second time around I had the seafood linguini, blandest meal I have ever eaten. My over application of salt and pepper (which my boyfriend had to queue at the bar to ask for) couldn't save this dish. Tasted of nothing, how is that even possible? Again the menu falsely advertised the dish stating that it contained chilli and garlic, neither were in this dish. Measly portion of pasta and a few frozen prawns for $26. Complete rip off! Bar staff are too cool to offer decent service. The girl who cleared our plates did not utter a word or smile, just took them away whilst chewing gum very loudly. I agree that the fit out is impressive and has a sleek Art Deco vibe but if the food and service does not improve they are going to have a decadent and empty venue. There are so many places in the area offering better food in this price range. Pick up your game prahran hotel!
Linda Polese
Food was good, but if you want to be treated like a 15 year old and don't have money to spend, then go. I won't ever be back. I'll take my money elsewhere!
James Hood
Love the design.. really cool pub, good fun place to hang out, rude staff and bar food was crap, ordered the meatballs - 3 tiny pieces of bread and a tonne cheese, not much meat, casadias - came with a mountain of rocket.. a were kind of like oily cardboard, trio of dips - hard one to f up.. but they did. However it was a busy night so will give them another shot.
Nicole Power
Amazing renovation, this place looks fantastic. Service was good and great beers on tap but only having one vegetarian option on the menu is poor. Eggplant Parma was tasty but having another option (veggie burger?) would help this place.
HeySP
The food was great - salt & pepper squid was like butter! Unfortunately the new area - which is really cool - also sits next to the smokers area so we choked our way through dinner and left stinking of smoke. Something that I haven't had for a very, very long time. Love the food, but don't want the lung cancer
Jackson Fletcher-Coon
Guaranteed good meal, need to book a week in advance but well worth the wait.
Alex Garuccio
Great pub for drink. But would not eat here again. Food was shocking!!
Dave
Worst pub food south of the river. Im not one to complain or write reviews but I just had to post something after being dished up complete rubbish last time I had this misfortune of dining here.<br/>As a Windsor local im spoilt for choice with pubs and restaurants and get around to as many as possible. Was a fan of the Prahran pre-reno, it was a decent pub, nice people, food was not bad and generally a good local.<br/>Post reno I have eaten here 3 times. <br/>1st time with friends it was passable, not great but we put that down to the staff finding their feet.<br/>Second time round with the missus we had lunch - burger, dips and calamari. Burger was OK, dips may as well been just named cream cheese - no flavour - and the bread was stale. told the staff and didn't get any fresh.. too busy looking cool and serving up attitude man. Calamari was sloppy, oily and inedible.<br/>Stupidly I decided to give em another go (basically cos I wanted to watch the footy one rainy Saturday). Veal schnitzel. Its not rocket science. They must teach it in week one of chef school. Where to start on how the chef massacred . Firstly the coleslaw was just a pile of dry cabbage with no dressing. Chips were so sloppy and wet with oil that there was actually a pool of oil in one of them. The schnitzel was coated in a cm of some kind of rubbish (like the schnitzels you get a safeway) and had the texture of a sponge that had just come out of a massive pool of oil. Even the oil tasted old, burnt and stale. Meat tasted like absolute pewtch.<br/>Now I eat like a pig.. I don't think ive ever not finished a meal - anywhere. But on that day - when I was hungover as a donkey and starving - I tried and tried to get this rubbish down and only managed half before upping stumps and going home. <br/>Rating: 2 out of 10... and that's generous<br/><br/>Reno looks great though, good job.
Lew M
Very disappointing. The staff were rude and of my group of 5, 3 of us had meals which were so burnt they were largely inedible. The waitress didn't even comment when she removed our plates of burnt remains. Overall very poor form.
Karlita
Went for dinner & to check out the new reno & weren't impressed at all. <br/>Rude, useless staff, didn't feel welcome from the moment we arrived. <br/>Waiting at the bar for 5 mins being ignored wasn't a great start! <br/>Tasteless food, won't be going back & don't recommend this place to anyone!
Ssagin
Not quite the friendliest staff, didnt feel welcomed to be able to feel good about being a customer there. Also communication skills are lacking among some of the staff, maybe less fulling around and treat it as a job that you want to do.
Regular Diner
Was looking foward to it but .... A friend booked us in for a table of 4 two weeks ago for 8pm this Saturday. Got the call yesterday that a bigger booking had come and would we like to come to dinner at 5:30pm ... What would you say? ... Ah no, not very convenient and not normally hungry at 5:30! Do we get happy meals with that? ... Well sorry that's all that's available ... Really? How about the table we had already reserved at 8pm! I eat out a lot and am normally positive but that is just bad and hence this review.
Tushar Dave
As pretentious as they come!. There's two Prahran hotels, Pre reno and post reno. <br/><br/>Pre reno Prahran Hotel used to be "A Local" typical pub food, reasonably priced and good value for money, delicious, friendly staff....the works! <br/><br/>Post reno Prahran Hotel has turned into a pretentious place where the only good thing I have to say about the place is - job well done on the renovations.<br/><br/>Booked a table for 8 last night. Got allocated two tables up the stairs that cannot be joined together. You'd think it's common sense to provide a table big enough so that 8 people can sit together and chat over dinner and not two seperate tables where you are constantly yelling across the floor to have a conversation. Whats worse is that this spot was right next to the speakers!! <br/><br/>Went downstairs to ask if they had made a mistake and allocated the wrong tables to us, the response from the staff "It's the best seat in the house mate" and oh the classic "It's as good as it gets". Really? How about you tone down your attitude a little bit "mate". <br/><br/>The waiter comes to take the order and we are told half the things on the menu weren't available as they had run out due to a busy weekend. Umm how about a polite/curteous apology that somethings on the menu aren't available. I understand it's a pub, things are casual, but FFS a little politeness and mannerism go a long way. And if you hate your job so much, find a new one!<br/><br/>Got charged a $1 extra for every order that was changed from chips and veggies to mash and veggies. If you are going to charge for such a change, please don't ask when you take our order "would you like that with chips or mash?" <br/><br/>Needless to say I won't be going there again!! There are tons of places in Melbourne that are "pretentious" but still deliver good food and service.
Cam
Very impressed. Had the veal schnitzel which was perfect. Finished with perfect chocolate brownie. Lovely!
Emily
SO Disappointed. Where do I start...<br/><br/>We usually went each week for steak/parma night as the Prahran used to be our local when some of us lived in Charles st before the reno's and the food was classic pub food, good value and good quality - great for $13 and when you went on normal nights the food was good quality and you were happy to pay the price. <br/><br/>Couldn't wait to check out the new reno's...booked a dinner on a Thursday night with friends from out of town - below par in every way - service/ food quality although, to their credit, the reno's looked great. Embarrassed to take people there after having raved about the place earlier. <br/><br/>Had a dinner booked for 8pm Sunday before a public holiday...was eventually shown our table at 9.30pm...received a menu at 9.50...food served at 10.45...enough said really.<br/><br/>Booked in a dinner with 6 girls on a Tuesday night for $13 steak/parma night - thought surely the creases would now be ironed out after a busy two months or so of opening... ordered the steak, was way overcooked, sitting on top of some hours old looking wet chips and a salad that looked like it was saved from the week before.<br/><br/>Reluctantly agreed to go again for dinner last night (again for the special steak/parma)...hoped to god something was different...placed our order and the service was fantastic...so fantastic in fact that all 4 meals we ordered were on our table 6 minutes after ordering them (no exaggeration - we were waiting for a 5th person and thought we'd order because it might take a while as the waiter had mentioned they were flat out) ! <br/>SO quick that it made you think what the hell is going on? Was everything ready, sitting waiting to reheat in the microwave as soon as an order came through?? The soggy chips and weeks old salad again made an appearance yet again which was almost comforting to see some old mates again.<br/><br/>What is going on Prahran Hotel???? <br/>Did you overspend in the renos and fire the chef???<br/>Yes the place looks great i'll give you that but we won't ever be coming back for a meal...I've got my own leftovers at home I can eat for free.
Boodiful69
Steak night. Ok so we did go on steak and Parma night so what were we to expect. Steak was overlooked, chips were cold. Thankful we only paid $13 for meals. Lack of originality with regular menu items, previous times I've been here I've chosen not to eat as nothing stands out and lack of items for people with food allergies. Just your below average expensive pub that had a flash upgrade
Lucy
Amazing Setting and Food!. What an amazing atmosphere! The owners have done a superb job with the renovations! We sat in the half pipe and I had the lamb salad which was also excellent, and planning on returning for $13 steak night on Wednesday! My only criticism would be that the waiter we had was rather rude!
Kate Allan
Worst meal ever!. Worst meal ever, chicken salad was worse than something from a food court, old lettuce, half a tomato and very little, tasteless chicken. Don't waste your money! Very disappointed
Frenchie
DONT BOTHER, SERVICE AND FOOD = APPALLING!. Decided to check out the newly renovated Prahran hotel. Regret that decision hugely. Yes those concrete tubular booths look amazing and the newly renovated section is lovely but the service and food was terrible!!! (you can get better quality food and service at McDonalds...YES THATS HOW BAD IT WAS). Menu wasn't marked with what was gluten free, when I told the waitress that I had a gluten intolerance and asked if some of the salads had gluten she rolled her eyes and was unhelpful, felt like I was inconviniencing her. Had to order steamed vegetables (probably from one of those steamfresh bags) as no options were suggested by the wait staff for me to eat that would be GF. And YES even the steamed vegetables weren't cooked properly (dont know how you get that wrong) Wont be going back there ever again. Get your act together PH!
Keith M
Disappointing. Food was okay but the service was rubbish. They sat us right next to the fire which they kept stoking with logs, wouldn't move us, cut short out sitting by 30 minutes and brought the bill before we had finished. They couldn't get rid of us fast enough.
Joie De Vivre
Went here last night for dinner and the food is very very ordinary. I thought the food will be similar to The Smith in Prahran but no where near it. I had Penne with Osso Buco and all it was us a cooked pasta and they put the sauce on top. They might had the renovation but the food remains pretty ORDINARY.<br/>What it's good for is Friday night drinks to catch up with friends.
Mark
Style over substance personified. Below average pub food in wow factor dining room. The owners' cash would have been better spent on menu design and quality produce/cooks. Trust me, eat before you go.
Brad
Went Friday July 26 to meet friends, was all good till I ordered dips, the bread was dry as though it was either going out of date or had been left out all day. Went upstairs to watch footy and the upstairs power went out and therefore we were all moved downstairs the power issue was a result of the new Reno I assume as downstairs power was fine. It became a madhouse trying to buy a beer so we all left. Great looking venue but the food was average.
Onewellfedlady
An amazing transformation. The Prahran renovation is a master piece and such a cleaver use of space with private rooms, mezzanine rooms and a bar top and ground. More importantly the food was great, we all had difficulty deciding as the menu options were perfectly chosen. Needless to say we will be back, <br/>The only thing worth mentioning that because it was so full of happy people if you want a quiet meal not for you.
Sassy Eater
VERY disappointed. Ate here for a celebration lunch and was SO disappointed with everything the Prahran Hotel has to offer.<br/>The service was so bad. Our waiter mucked up our order so many times that we lost count... incorrect drinks, wrong entrees, missed mains. We also had to yell out from our booth to get some attention.<br/><br/>We sat in one of the booths (there were 6 of us) which although look fabulous are inconvenient and FREEZING. The cold air comes off the windows and onto the concrete pipes- not to mention there was a hole in the glass window to let a pipe in- we asked if the heater could be turned up but nothing could be done. All 6 of us ate with our winter jackets on... it just ruined the whole lunch.<br/><br/>Food was terrible. For what we paid you'd have hoped for something from the likes of The Smith or Middle Park Hotel. It was tasteless and bland which was felt by everyone as all dishes went back to the kitchen half eaten.<br/><br/>Wine... we were looking to spend big on the wine as we were celebrating but the wine list was very boring and restricted.<br/><br/>All in all a VERY unpleasant experience. Won't be visiting the Prahran Hotel anytime soon, as well as the other 5 people in my party.
Mags
Unsure. The hotel has a fantastic atmosphere but service was pretty bad. <br/><br/>We decided to have a drink before dinner in the bar area. The bar attendant asked for one of my friends ID (22yr old girl), she showed her a Victorian proof of age card. The bar attendant said she didn't recognise the card (standard vic proof of age card...) so made us wait at the bar looking stupid for 5mins while she went and found her supervisor to check. <br/>So after we managed to get our drinks we decided to try out the restaurant for dinner. We waited for 10mins to be seated on a Monday night when the restaurant was clearly not very busy. <br/><br/>We ordered food with the bar attendant who couldn't give us any information on the menu items because 'she was just a bar attendant and didn't work in restaurant'. We also tried to order drinks from the menu which were listed on the menu but not stocked in the bar ... <br/>When our food arrived we weren't given any cutlery to eat with...after trying to get the waitresses attention for 10mins we went in search of cutlery ourselves but only managed to find one fork which we found on the corner of the bar. So after eating the majority of the food with our hand we gave us (I had a salad.. ) we also had the soft shell crab and it was horrible, all you could taste was oil. <br/><br/>Sour experience for something that was so highly recommended. <br/><br/>The worst part is that we decided on the Prahran Hotel because we had seen advertising on the internet for $13 local pasta night. That apparently does not exist.. update your advertising!

Not what I expected and not happy. Driving past this place it looks a million bucks but it is clear that the weekend is not the time to go for a quiet or even a good meal. To start a Parma needs to have cheese not melted rubber, this is a pub staple and any pub that can not get a staple item correct should not serve food. The best thing about the Parma was the chips. <br/><br/>The salad was mixed lettuce and nothing more. <br/><br/>The dessert was dry and stale a brownie that was not even warmed and could not be eaten it was rock hard.<br/><br/>Next onto the venue I do not know how they can pass smoking regulations with an indoor outdoor beer garden. The smoke if people did not close the door just came straight in. <br/><br/>I'd be interested to see what this place is like on a weeknight but won't be rushing back any time soon. The venue has so much potential that it could be classier but it was not

Great Reno/Bad Salads. Our first booking with the new renovation, looks fantastic!! Staff were great, particularly Henry who looked after us in our booth. <br/><br/>Share plates of calamari and quesedillas, really good. Bottle of wine, again Henry kept topping our glasses up when he went past, really great. <br/><br/>But then, the disappointment of the salads, Roast Chicken salad with Sweet potato and Lamb salad costing about $22-$24 each. We have could have got better in a food court. Extremely average. Prahran Hotel, lift your game. We would expect sitting in such a beautifully renovated place with great service that the main meal could have been up to standard.<br/><br/>In saying that, Tuesday nights $13 Steak and Parma night. Bloody beautiful!! Steak is always cooked to perfection (medium) and a good size. Great for the price.<br/><br/>The menu really needs an overhaul to fit with the décor.

Disappointing. Simple – If you have an answering machine – get back to people in a reasonable time. Same day please !!<br/><br/>How embarrassing is it to have guests arriving for a confirmed group booking, and there’s no space for them. Lift your game.<br/><br/>If your management invested a small fraction of the money that they spent on the renovation, (yes,it looks fabulous) into staff training (and indeed choice) maybe customer experiences might be somewhat up to the standard of others in the area. <br/><br/>ps top points to The Smith, where we went afterwards – great service (no, I don’t have shares in it)

Disappointing. Went there last night with my partner and was rather disappointed.<br/>We paid $38 for an eye-fillet steak and mash, and it was AVERAGE. Definitely not worth what we paid. $15 would have been worth it. Mash was lacking that creaminess, and was just bland.<br/>Service was also average. When we had to change tables and areas, we weren't escorted to our new table and were left standing there a minute or two wondering where we to go!? I had to ask to get mains menus. I had to ask for the dessert menu, which never came, and so had to get up and ask another waitress. Everything just seemed to take ages. So not worth the money, unfortunately.

Delighted for $13. Mid week pub meal. Completely unexpected. Decor was funky but not pretentious. Love the storm water pipe on the exterior.<br/><br/>Porterhouse steak chips salad and pepper sauce. Steak was cooked well, chips fat and crunchy. Really enjoyed dinner.<br/><br/>Apple tarte tartin was INCREDIBLE. Yum yum yum. Ill be there weekly.

Went to the newly reno'd pub last night for dinner with 10 friends and loved it. We were looked after by a lovely attentive waitress who was also fun and cheeky and doted on us the entire time even though she was run off her feet looking after other tables. Did everything with a smile. The pub was absolutely packed so yes we had some drunk youngens in our surrounding areas but I guess at the end of the day- it's a pub. Salmon was delicious & chocolate brownie topped off a great night. Will be back for sure.

I love the new look of the prahran hotel <br/>We had the best brownie for desert and the most unbelievable afregatto , staff and service was awesone xx come again
Paul Leonard
Great looking renovation but the light that flickered above our table almost sent us into an epileptic fit. Very average and certainly not worth $25 - $30 per main. Also they have two sittings - very un-Melbourne and all about the money. We won't be back - sadly because it is stumbling distance from home.

Very disappointing

Good times, great place. Went over the weekend with some mates. Love the new design - cool yet unpretentious. Top atmosphere. Friendly staff. Simple pub food done bloody well. Best parma I've had in a while. Will definitely be heading back.
Dirk
Plentiful Pots & Parmas. Awesome renovation, good crowd and most importantly unpretentious pub food & solid hospitality. My new local! Another chapter in the "pots & parmas" recipe for success from the owners, who also have The Bridge and Richmond Club Hotels. Seems some urbanspooners think the Prahran is a gastropub and are expecting a hatted chef's dinner! No way! My advice is to head down the road to The Smith if that's what you're after. Me, i'm booking the half pipe for my birthday and will be a regular for cheap Tuesday & Wednesday steak and parma night! TOP PUB!

GREAT PUB!. Great pub food at reasonable prices, friendly staff and fantastic renovations!! Went to the Prahran Hotel Saturday night for dinner with a group of friends and LOVED it! Everyone enjoyed themselves! Footy was on and there was a great atmosphere! Will definitely be coming back!

Dinner and drinks. I have been in to the Prahran Hotel twice now, once prior to renovations and once after.<br/><br/>The first time I went was about 6-8 weeks ago on a Sunday. I had the chicken salad and a friend had the pasta, both absolutely delicious for pub food. The football was on, the place was uplifted atmosphere and smiley friendly staff.<br/> <br/>I went back to the Prahran Hotel on Queen's Birthday Eve. Despite the place being absolutely packed, we ordered a Parma, some wedges, dip & breads and other "share" plates. As routine, we took a table number with us and were sitting at a bar table with about 6 of us. The staff managed to track us down in amongst the crowd and brought the food out in a very timely manner. I was impressed considering the place appeared to be at capacity.<br/><br/>I look forward to going back to The Prahran Hotel again!

Below average food.. Went again on Saturday, thinking the amazing new fit out may be reflected in the quality of food.. NO no no.<br/>Turned up at 8pm for a dinner reservation to be greeted by rude door staff insisting my 'quota' of people had gone through. Even tho I was the first to arrive. I explained this, and I also asked a waitress to explain this. Didn't seem to work as when my three friends did arrive, they also tried to refuse them entry saying that too many people had gone through on my booking. Can barley be bothered re-living it for this review. <br/>As I arrived alone, I tried to find my table, the waitstaff at that stage were totally overwhelmed, and just stared into space when i tried to speak to them. It was general mayhem. I just went ahead and seated myself at an empty table.<br/>When my friends arrived we ordered, food came out quickly as was really really average. Cheap pub food, barley worth mentioning. Looked and tasted like defrosted factory produced items. We also ordered wine, the waitress bought over the bottle and glasses and just slammed them onto the table and walked off. It was all quite comedic. <br/>The renovation is amazing, but food is not worth it. People were queuing down the street to get in for a drink too. Fools really. To be treated like that and to have to pay? I don't think so.
Adam
New renovations look good however, rude male wait staff spoiled birthday dinner. Lots of patrons too drunk hence the excess security. Food was bad bar menu ie: a chicken BLT for dinner. Missed an opportunity to make the food match the new decor. Better off heading elsewhere not enjoyable at all!
Emma
Lunch, Dinner & Drinks. Love, love love the Prahran Hotel!<br/>GREAT pub food (some of the best "pub meals" I've had in South East Melbourne in ages.<br/>Great staff, nice and relaxed vibey atmosphere.<br/>You will be seeing me again, that's guaranteed.<br/>P.S. The new reno's look awesome
Paul
Came here before the footy last night-had some share plates with some mates. Awesome!!

Dinner Review. Went for dinner this past week and really enjoyed the porterhouse steak which was cooked to how I asked for it. My friend had the pie, also happy with that. Despite being busy, waiters did a good job. Renovations looked great as well, giving it a good casual feel. Will definitely go again.
Andrew Ball
Really bad food, bogan patrons and obnoxious staff. Avoid this one like the plague...
Sally
Great new Reno. Only had some share plates and they were good but 2 menu items had 'sold out' for lunch and it was only 1pm???
Michael
Just had a killer steak, Cooked exactly how I asked. Being a butcher myself, I was very impressed. Also a really nice atmosphere . Can defiantly see myself bringing the boys from work down here for a good feed and a few frothies very soon....
Claire
Staff were lovely and friendly. I had a risotto while my partner had a steak. Both meals were absolutely delicious. We had a great experience and will definitely be going back!
Valw06
Dinner. Great renovations, friendly staff, great food. Nothing was to much trouble
Jinny Bo
Wow! Came down with mates last night, great Parmas and my steak was spot on, excellent value for money, happy to call this my local!
Food..
Shut the kitchen down... Microwaved steak.. Forgot the veggies.. Chewy pasta.. The place looks great but dont bother having dinner there!

Lunch service on Sunday. Waiters good and fit out looks good. Unfortunately that's where it ends! The good is just terrible! Just like Bridge Hotel and RCH. Seriously something is missing in the kitchen at all three venues (flavours and perhaps a chef that takes pride in the food served). The Parma I had was just terrible, a flavourless bit of chicken with uncooked cheese, the chips were cold. My friends salad was incomplete, surprise surprise this happened to us at The bridge before. All the roasts looked sad. Take some pride in your food or just do a few things and do them well!
Jamie
Lovely renovations! Can tell the staff are trying and working very hard! Had a few mistakes on our table but all waitresses did their best to keep us happy and immediately correct the errors and were very apologetic. Working in hospitality I know what it's like to deal with huge crowds of people. Must be a big change for Prahran Hotel at the moment and difficult for some to keep up with. Will remain a loyal customer because I know everything will settle soon. Love you guys, party on!
Adam Rentsch
OKish food, terrible service.. Food was standard pub meal. Unfortunately the service was absolutely terrible. After sitting on our empty entrée dishes for roughly 40min, we had to ask for them to be removed. Meals came some time later, with one not even arriving until we asked after it half an hour later. Then the bill, grossly miscalculated against our favour, had to be negotiated back over a hundred dollars so that it no longer contained the many items we didn't order.<br/>Won't be back.
Birdman
Richmond club, bridge hotel and now prahran hotel, all the same owner and what horrible food. Plain calamari with no lemon, sweet potato and chicken salad with no sweet potato, one of the worst parmas I've seen and the driest Sunday roast.... All round disgraceful food
Casual Diner
Great fit out. Bar upstairs really lovely and downstairs still feels like a local pub. Had dinner here early before rugby and it was nice, not great. Lovely steak and mash. Ribs entree average. Parma ok. Staff welcoming. Would come back to the bar again definitely.
Mark
If you won't good customer service don't come here. I'm a local in the area and have been looking forward to coming here after the refurbishment. But from being sat in a hallway with the outside furniture, and then when our table was ready to go to be sat in the dinning room with a TV blearing, so much that you couldn't even talk to the person sitting two seats down from you. I personally don't want to pay good money to have a bad dinning experience, and if your like me you wouldn't either.
Joecas20
Disapointment. Even when we had a booking there were no tables for us, if felt like we were an afterthought, we were put into a back room with no atmosphere, we missed the entire refurb as we were in some random room. After ordering the food nearly came out instantly which i was question! my parma was cold. <br/><br/>for once an amazing and loved local i was disappointed with the service and food. <br/><br/>i hope if i give it anther go i am not as disappointed as i was last night.
Leanne
Fantastic fit out, staff friendly.. My new local however good is very Average. Parmas came out cold. All 4 of them. Menu needs to be revamped to a little past "pub food" simple salads and a soup maybe? Bit of a let down. Great fit out tho as I said :0)
Andrew Simmonds
Nice looking venue, horrible food. Renovation looks great, but the food is still unbelievably bad.
Mel
Overcrowded, under stocked!. We didn’t even get to see the newly refurbished area as we were squished into a back booth. <br/>The first three mains that I chose were no longer available and it wasn’t even 7pm at this stage. The salad I had was average at best, and the wait staff were too busy to care. <br/>Zero parking. Won’t be back.
Tanya Beyer
I ordered a trio of dips. 50minutes later they had still not arrived. I waited at the bar for 5 minutes to be served holding my table number in hand finally someone decided I was not invisible and asked what I would like. When I told her I am still waiting on a trio of dips she walked off came baj 5 mins later and said I am so sorry your dips went to another table and now the kitchen is closed so I can not make you another I can only give you a refund. I took my refund with no extra compensation and left with an empty stomach and disgust. If you are thinking of dining at the prahran hotel think twice I'd suggest you go elsewhere.
Jojo
Not kid friendly, there are no high chairs available and limited children's menu.

Wednesday night - busy fun vibe, great Palma as always and brilliant value.

Quality gastropub food. Very high quality gastropub-style food for cheap to moderate prices at the new and improved Prahran Hotel. Service was absent at times but they let us enjoy our meals in privacy in one of the beautiful private dining rooms with fireplace. This pub has a feel-good vibe with upbeat tunes playing late into the night. Recommending this one to friends.
Les
Trendy. An impressive renovation where I plan on coming here more often this summer with some friends. The high table and chairs across from the private dining room are a very cool addition which help promote group eating & sharing yet there are still booth-like spots for smaller parties. I enjoyed a work lunch here, everything on the menu looked appetising. We started with the dips which were great, especially the beetroot relish as well as the chorizo and meatballs with generous amounts of chunky tomato sauce.<br/>The mains consisted of a delicious Thai beef salad cooked rare with cucumber, tomato, capsicum, chilli, basil & coriander for a very reasonable price. The chicken parma didnt look great but the salmon special and mushroom risotto were very highly regarded in our group. Their portions are on the larger size and well worth your buck.

Best in prahran. Great atmosphere. nice reno. good steak night , they also have nice choices of beer on tap.

Went here for my sisters birthday and<br/>Was disappointed my steak was cold and when I asked for another one it was also cold and I was made<br/>To feel so uncomfortable from the wait staff I didn't complain again until the end my partners pork cutlet was served with a thick rind of<br/>Fat not rendered or crispy absolutely horrible and a bad experience sorry PH<br/><br/>We came here a few years after this review and what a difference the food was wonderful service is a bit slow and rude but the food made up for it. Glad we tried it again with friend! That ricotta gnocchi is beautiful<br/>
The Russian
Went on saturday arvo. Not to busy at all and I dont know why. Great set up, fat yak on tap, and the steak sanga was the best I have had. Simply awsome if not to pricey at $19. Bar staff were nice to. I will b back.
Bax_ry
Great modern Aussie Pub. Pull up a seat and grab a pot and Parma

Great Place. Love your staff and the will love you back .Obiviously someone is doing something right. Everytime we come here the staff are always happy and very attentive!<br/>Drink prices a little to expensive though<br/>Always great serving sizes of food and delishious, with great value for money <br/>Just moved to the area, will be back
Andyroo
Good place for a beer and a chat but the food is average for the price. The Manager is a bit of a tool
Cathy Dean
Christmas celebration. What a disapointment went for a celebration with the work crew, some of the entrees were OK but I suspect the kitchen is full of premade dips and antipasto!!<br/>I had the steak which was OK but no writting home, the rest of the party reported their meals OK except those that had the preformed fake chicken parma...revolting!!<br/>ambience all good but the food needs to raise alot of notches before we venture back!!!

Went for dinner last night (wed 12th October). Apart from the two mains that we had being very average, we found them to be a step up from the extremely poor customer service delivered (or not delivered) by more than one staff member. Zero personality and the attention given did not go beyond the "dumping" of our meals on our table. The staff were not engaging in any way at all. And I failed to see any of the safe walk around (or stand around) without a look on their face as if someone had shoved a smelly gym sock under their nose. It was a quiet night it seemed and plenty of staff doing nothing. I'm sure the owner must be pleased to know that they are paying staff to not engage with clientele and deliver poor service without even a smile. At least we got a half smile when leaving from one of the members of staff as she was lighting up a cigarette on her break. It's a pity as the renovation far surpasses the quality of customer service. Deffinately will not be back again.
Elise
Just finished a fantastic lunch and the new and improved Prahran Hotel. Haven't been since the renovation and may I say - a job very well done! The food was incredible, the service was great, and boy can the guy behind the bar shake up a mean espresso martini!! Can't wait for my birthday so I can enjoy the private dining room. Can't falter the place - it's a must do!
RexP74
Can't beat the specials night. Been there twice in four weeks for the $15 steak night on Tuesdays and it's delivered both times. Quality steak (not some chewy, stringy junk), cooked as requested accompanied by good breadth and price on the wine list. I like the high chair tables and the open fire in the winter is a gem. Prices on the menu seem a little high for puub grub, but the nightly specials offer good value. Happy to become a frequent offender... might have to try the other specials night.
Laura Smart
Love it here!. Been in a few times since the reopening and it is always a good experience. good food specials during the week and a good place to go for drinks on the weekend. the staff are friendly and will actually make conversation unlike most of the people serving in bars around the prahran and chapel street area.
Nicker Bocker
Appalling! Have been to the good old p ran twice now nice they re opened, both with unpleasant outcomes.. Steak night on a Tuesday looked great for us locals, but we were shunned into the private dining room and then not served for ages, 45 mins later when we got out rare steaks they were drenched in pepper sauce.. Where does it say that They all come smothered! Too peppery! Next time we received the smartest attitude from the bar manager! Are we not good enough for a beer! I have also heard that some of our disabled friends were turned away from a private function! This of all things sickens me! I do not recommend this place!
Steven
Disappointing.... First time back after they re-opened and very disappointed. Went there with some people for lunch and had to wait an hour for food to arrive when the rest of the place was basically empty. <br/>We were told that we couldn't split the bill and there is no ATM here - annoying. <br/>Food is hit and miss but in general just average, overpriced pub-food. So called 'salad' was just a bit of lettuce with no dressing, and I don't really care what beer is used for the batter, how the chips are cut and how the fish is arranged on my plate, in the end it's still just fish and chips and it's about how it tastes - which wasn't that great.
Quickdrawmcgraw
Disappointing to say the least. Don't like the new reno...good on them for having a go...but there are so many other great pubs in Prahran that I doubt it will take off. Calamari was good ....and nice staff but service was very slow and this was on a quiet night. one more try....
Sean Salem
Terrible. Waited over an hour for very basic food (ie parma & burger) in a place which was not that busy. Salad consisted of lettuce only. The night we went was parma, burger and fish & chip night. They really should be expecting people to order these items, and serve them in a timely manner. With proper salad.
Sam
How do they get it so wrong. Two veggo options, one is a cold vegetable terrine (great in the winter) and the cheerful waitress also informs us they have a vegetable curry. I envisage a basic yet tasty curry loaded with cheaper veggies. What arrives is a bowl of liquid with a half cup side serve of rice. Fishing around in the curried liquid I find 6-8 pieces of carrot and thats about it. When I enquire if its a soup, or a curry I am told its a curry that has vegetables in it, but its pureed. I ask for some vegetables which then arrive, around a cup of over steamed veg, and some peeled tomato??? I dump this into the curry soup and try and salvage a dinner of sorts. Blurgh. To my horror I am not only charged for $18 for curry liquid, I am also charged $8 for 'seasonal' vegetables. Sloppy, thoughtless food prepared with no concern for the fact that some has to actually eat it at the other end. First time here, will not return, no way.
Bradster
Not the best first impression. Nice fitout and renovations. Booked a large table for 10. Received conflicting reports from wait staff, bar staff and managers as to whether we could pay separately, or as a whole table and were told that we could get cash out over the bar eftpos (there is no ATM in this pub) but were not able to do so when at the bar. What pub doesnt have an ATM these days? They need to sort that out.<br/><br/>Food was good and so was the service (arrived quickly, but it was a quiet day). Will give it another chance in a few months time when they have bedded down the operation of the place.

The old p-ran re opened, taken over by 4 guys with to much money, it shows with decore, not to say it's bad, the new upstairs looks great and the main bar is greatly improved, the service was good to start with, then dropped off, finished our drinks and not asked if we wanted another, meals were hit and miss, beetroot cured salmon was nice, under seasoned tho, mezze plate was boring with the canned peppers n all, duo of quail w lentils was really nice, for mains we had rabbit casserole and 400gm rib eye, rib eye cooked perfectly but the sauce on top killed a nice piece of meAt, and the celeriac gratin it came with had an overwhelming taste of thyme and curdled cream. rabbit was nice, parmas look dry and lifeless. Obviously new chef thinks he's too good for the humble Parma. I'd go upstairs on a fri/sat night for drinks, nice atmosphere up there.
Chrystal
Definitely love it. A pub which caters for all age groups and moods. Food was delicious, wide range of drinks and the service was efficient and friendly. Will definitely be back!
Ian
We love it. We waited years for someone to finally fix the place! Been back many times since it opened. Food great ever time. It's just a great pub. Public bar. Fires. Carlton and parmas. And staff who know how to smile!
Ching Ching
Do not like it, meals and even drinks are over priced, trying to become the new trend but remember
Prahran Local
Out with the new, In with the old!. The Prahran Hotel was once a local favourite as it is a good central meeting point for our friends. The meals were all a disappointment, excellent service however the 'private dining' room was very loud with another group of 15 people in the area. <br/>Prices are up and quality is down! <br/>Looking for our new local in Prahran as this is not it...
Mary
New owners hav really done the place up well with a fun and happy atmosphere.dining area ia fantastic with a private dining room also available.staff are fantastic and food is great!well worth a visit
Skujam
Not quite right, but ok. The newly renovated Prahran Hotel is a bit hit and miss, fantastic burger, terrible fish and chips, great wines and beers lists, but horrendous prices. I have no idea what was wrong with the old place, as far as I can tell the Reno was not needed, the old setup was great, big soft chesterfield lounges, a dark brooding gothic vibe and a few hidden nooks for a quiet beer. Clearly they have tried to make the prahran "the next big thing", mission failed. Prices are too high, and the whole "we are too cool for school vibe" gets old very, very quickly.
Jay Marios
Good sized meals, great service and excellent value. Good wine list and 12 beers on tap.
Andy Lim
I used to go there when this boy worked there... but not anymore.
Grace Patrick
Enjoy going to the Prahran hotel, great service, good chicken parmigiana, descent sized meals, and well priced. Live band is nice, however you may sit in the dining area where it is a little more intimate. Would recommend this as a good pub meal.
