I missed you.
My compliments to the chef(s?) But also to the person who served us, whoever owns the place, whoever delivers all your stuff and anyone else who helped in some way to make that weiner.
From the moment I put that 6 inch wiener into my mouth I felt the tension ease around a hole in both my stomach and in my soul.
The fries were only a touch too salty but this was entirely due to the cascading tears of joy.
Thank you for the experience. Never leave me again.
Unpretentious joint with friendly & helpful staff plus delish dogs & disco fries
I love this place. Great vego hotdogs and incredible disco fries. Definitely been holding out for them ro reopen!
Where do yoy get your vego weiners from?
This was one of my favorite memories in Oz. Such a fun place to challenge friends to eat one massive wiener.
The only food I've found this side of the world that makes me as happy as the food from home. Frickin delicious.
Boing!!!!!
Friendly staff and yummie food. Good prices as well!
Hot dogs were great. And the chilli fries - unreal. Will be back to have a go at the challenge....
Best everything ever. Really good service, really good price, GREAT food. Everything is just so good here.
Had a massive chilli cheese weiner and I must say it was the best weiner Ive ever had and Im hooked. Well done. Will def come back.
Could have been more massive... i'm talking 70's porn star massive...
Best hotdog joint in Melbourne!
Go for the disco fries, they’re PERFECT every time
Can’t go past massive wieners for a late night feast
Good place to have a late night eat out. Really like their gravy fries
There isn’t a lot of places in Melbourne that do hotdogs unless you go to Donut King, so when my Husband surprised me with dinner here, I was really looking forward to what was in store! A small shop with the walls filled with people who’ve finished the “massive wiener” and their time was quite interesting and something to look at while eating your meal. The section where you pay is made to look like the 20’s with an old cash register and signage of food and costs. The food was delicious but ordering the food if you haven’t been here before is quite confusing.. and took us atleast a good 5 minutes before we understood what exactly we ordered. Even the person working on the register was confused and we still aren’t sure whether we were charged properly. Situated on the busy Chapel Street, we were lucky to find a park and didn’t mind the walk to get there having a look at all the different bars and restaurants. The hotdog was nice but average and the loaded fries were nice with onion, cheese and gravy.
The massive wiener is really quite big 😅 it wasn’t the best sausage I’ve ever had, but you get a lot. The vanilla shake and disco fries were yummy. The staff was very friendly and nice.
I am a sucker for a veggie hot dog even though I hated real ones as a meat eater. I especially love the fact that Massive Wieners has a variety of vegan dogs rather than just one boring option. The chilli dog with vegan cheese is a game changer. I don't know anywhere else in Melbourne to get this American delicacy. But I prefer the classic combo of sauerkraut and mustard for that briny one-two-punch. There's also a vegan corn dog I'm very keen to try. I'm not a huge chip person but the ones here aren't bad either.
Service was excellent and over all the wieners and fries were good. Bread was fresh and the wieners come packed with sauce and blanched onions. The loaded fries were a stand out. I’ll be back again
Cool retro vibes and no frills dogs that imitate a NY style dog which is no bad thing IMO. Get them loaded with Kraut, or my fave the chilli. Also gotta say the poutine and chilli loaded fries are both delicous!
I had wanted to try this for months and finally got my wish! Definitely didn’t disappoint! I got the 12” classic and it was definitely that. The hours this place is open is remarkable too! Recommend this!!!
Simple straight forward menu loved the 2 massive wieners we had!! Full of flavour, great options for toppings. We also had the massive fries with cheese and gravy what a flavour explosion all round. Loved it and will be back for more.
This place is simply Delicious! Everything is made in house from the wieners to the chilli, even the buns. It is easily the best hot dogs in town. There is no better... and I love my hotdogs.. a lot! Don't come here if you want anything other than really good hotdogs and fries.
My wife and I always have the chill cheese dog and disco fries (gravy with onion and cheese). The wiener is skinless but still has that pop when you bite into it and has a really good depth of flavour. The chilli is flavourful but not spicy, and the bun is soft and fluffy.
The fries are crunchy with a delicious gravy. There is no Amercian cheese here, just a good cheddar, and the onions are soaked so they aren't overpowering.
They also do milkshakes and have a great selection of organic and imported sodas.
I love this place!
As the name suggests, they do really serve massive wieners, up to 12 inch long that is. Menu is simple and focused on just simple basic hot dogs, so don't be expecting fancy premium toppings ;)
Had the 12 inch beef chilli dog, massive wiener style, with fries and drink. Fries came in very very generous portion, they really do load it up. Looked and felt very similar to Macca's fries, personally enjoyed it.
Let's get to the hot dog, comes with a skinless basic steamed frank, not too bad for a basic sausage to keep the price low as well.
The bun had great texture for a simple bun. It's sturdy, holds its structure well and doesn't break apart at the bottom throughout the meal. It's lightly toasted to warm it up.
The beef chilli is with the bean variant. It's seasoned well and had a thick almost creamy texture that comes from the beans. It's not wet and messy, towards the dry side, wasn't smothered by it but was adequate enough to taste the presence of the chilli.
From observation, it's a simple, no fuss, and easy to eat hot dog, proven with the careful placement of the toppings to provide a clean meal, and careful diameter of the hot dog when you take a bite, don't need to stretch your mouth to have a full bite. Because ingredients are cooked in advance, service is very quick with just a quick toast of the bun and assembly of toppings and sauce.
If there's something I can suggest or add to the menu, without altering the style of their offerings, is an option for natural casing sausage. A sheep casing wouldn't compromise the diameter of the sausage for an easy bite. A grilled option would also provide a nice char and flavour to the skin but will prolong service if cooked to order. The curved body will also be tricker when placing toppings. I would pay more for the "snap" of the natural casing option.
Staff service is also very friendly and one of the best I've come across.
My boyfriend brought me home one of the mini wieners after he’d been out one night so I didn’t have it until the next day but damnn it was tasty! Texture is spot on, still has a bit of a fake meat taste but was pretty good!
A local fast food favourite! The Disco fries here are hearty and delicious with the perfect texture and amount of salt in the gravy.
I'd also highly recommend the chilli hot dog with all the sauces and trimmings. I like how there are various sizes of hot dogs to choose from.
My advice would be to definitely get the fries!
Massive Wieners (let’s just get all the giggles out of the way early), doesn’t try to do anything too extravagant or fancy. Instead they do casual fare, with a minimal menu, and they do it damn well.
Recently reopened after a several month renovation (I won’t lie, craving levels went through the roof), this little gem in Prahran serves up hotdogs and loaded fries through all hours of the day and night. Why limit your post Chapel Street binge drinking session options to just Maccas and kebabs?
This quaint little restaurant has a lot of charm, from the classic diner style staff uniforms, to all the glass soda bottles in the fridge.
There are three main options for both the hotdogs and fries, all of which can also be made vegan (even including the cheese, vegan friends rejoice!). For those that are up for the challenge, let’s just say there’s a reason they’re named ‘Massive’ Wieners. A challenge hotdog is also on the cards.
This time around I went with my default pick, Classic Hotdog with pickle relish, and a serving of Disco Fries.
The formula is quite simple, perfectly cooked hotdogs that have a great ‘snap’ biting into them, fresh and fluffy bread rolls, with the right amount of sauce and onion to top it all off.
You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who didn’t love the Disco Fries. Fresh out of the fryer, the crispy golden French fries are then topped off with a generous coating of gravy, cheese and white onion. It’s essentially a poutine with onion, need I say more?
Whether you’re out painting the town red, or just craving a bit of comfort food, Massive Wieners is an easy choice. While the menu is limited, there’s still enough variety to keep everyone happy. Be sure to do yourself a favour and try the Disco Fries while you’re there!
Amazing experience! Friendly service and awesome food. Loved being able to make it vegan and gluten free so easily! The gluten free bread was honestly the best I’d ever had, wouldn’t have even believed it if my partner wasn’t sitting next to me with a normal one. Disco fries were also amazing! Will definitely be back!
This place is fantastic! Great service and delicious hot dogs, fries and shakes! Not too pricey either. I would make use of the meal deal option available. Generous toppings and great dogs and buns.
The vegan hot dog from here was spectacular. Better than Lord of the Fries. Not by much. But pretty damn good. The decor and aesthetic of the restaurant is pretty damn cool too. Worth checking out if you like that 50’s diner feel and hotdogs!
Best Wieners, Fries and shakes ever! there’s nothing like that in South America, if I could I will be more than happy to eat my massive wiener every day!
I did the big one (25”) in 13 min, but I will definitely come back (again) to do it under 5 min and get it for free! 💪🏾
If you know me, you would know I LOOVEEE a hot dog, and massive wieners delivers! Vegan options for the hot dogs as well as for some of the loaded fries. So cheap and so bloody tasty. The staff are legends and the decor is so trendy and cute!
General feel and deco
- Minimalistic retro style
- Bit chilly as it was during winter, but there was a heater under one of the tables which was good
Service
- The girl serving us was friendly, attentive, and provided great service
- Orders were made reasonably fast
Food
- Food portions were decent
- Food presentation was nice
- I had a vegan strawberry shake and my golly it was superb!
- I had the fries with gravy and onion which I would also recommend
- Hot dogs were really delicious too (but I would of preferred the bun to be slightly softer)
- They even had vintage drinks which went well with the overall retro feel
Overall I loved eating at this place and would definitely come back.
Late night food specialists. Strangest take away place I have been too, weird barber shop floor, mug shots on the wall and the uniforms make me feel like I'm in black mirror. However this all works and has made this place an iconic spot on Chapel street. Love the disco fries in particularly and the hotdogs are always the same goodness. Bang one out after a late night (or morning) revs sesh, it's straight across the road. Go treat yourself.
From little peckers to massive wieners, no matter what you got, this place has you covered for any sized hot dog.
Before coming here I'd definitely never eaten 25 inches of hot dog, I must say I'm proud of myself. Honestly though, the massive wieners challenge was super fun and would recommend it to anyone wanting a lunch that'll keep you going into the night. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to eat it all in the 5 minutes but finished it instead in 14:03 so I'm therefore on the 'Wall of Shame'. I must say it's all worth it for the funky competition rag and fun staff vibe here.
The hot dogs itself was quite nice, I can't comment as much on the food since I haven't really tried out things from the main menu but everything certainly looked tasty. I'll definitely come for more.
Great food, awesome vibe, and superb service! If you're looking for an old-fashioned, ambient, funky place to eat on Chapel St, go no further. Love it lots!
I've been to massive wieners multiple times. Love the disco fries and thick chocolate shakes. The wieners were alright but the hotdog buns were really soft and kind of chewy at the same time. The only suggestion I could give to them will be that they need a renovation sooo badly. The place is really run down which can make the place looks less hygienic. But don't get me wrong, I love the food there.
Delicious. Unpretentious. Simple. Traditional. Friendly. Love. This. Place :)
I would highly recommend this place to anyone especially if you're looking for a good time 😉
................................................................
In and out type shop, great selection of drinks in the fridge and pretty decent Weiner's :)
They seem to have something up and coming on the walls. And the atmosphere seems quite chill if your sticking around.
Any hotdog can be made vegan and they have the good melty vegan cheese, heaven! The service is so friendly and they take it to the next level by just coming over and having really genuine chats with you if they're not too busy, and I'm really into the slightly run down diner style vibe they've got going on inside. Next time I'm down that way I'll be calling in to see if they can do vegan cheese and gravy fries.
Best late night snack ever. I had the most wonderful experience here on a Sunday around midnight! The staff were ridiculously friendly and accommodating and the service was super speedy. If you love rich gravy then the disco fries are for you! I was pleasantly surprised with the vegan cheese option. I will definitely be coming back here. My new go to late night feed on Chapel St!
Love their hot dogs and fries here.
Love how they have all the contestants that did the hot dog challenge.
Staff are fine day and helpful.
Take your lover or friends here so they can do the hot dog challenge!
The Hungry Moustache
+3.5
[LUNCH CRAWL] The amount of sexual innuendos that is revolving inside my mind is more than enough to fill a book devoted entirely to the classic American processed meat stick. It's 37 degrees celsius and the tarmac is smoldering from the Australian Sun. An increasingly common occurrence in a city that is infamous for bi-polar weather.. yes, we do have 4 seasons in one day (#proud). Our original destination wasn't filling our bodies up with protruding meat poles with steamy buns but battling the hot weather with ramen (We're the modern day Evel Knievals, I know).
Call it a stroke of luck or perhaps a higher being was guiding us down towards the righteous path of skin tight wienies with squirts of tomato sauce and mustard? As popular as the burger craze is right now, I still have love for the alluring smell of sausage sizzles outside my local Bunnings or those artery clogging cheese Kransky's at Laverton market. When a place is called, 'Massive Wieners' - how does one simply walk past and not sit down for a dog?
Maybe the coolest hotdog joint in Australia.
Loved the cheesy chips. Will be crushing more wieners next time im in the hood. Great staff.
Unique and good vibes
Only had a 6" and it was delish! Juicy and perfect amount of toppings. The plain chips were moreish and were a good choice of side to have along with the sausage. Friendly staff.
Massive Wieners (yes, get the name) is handily located to Revs for when you’re up at a weird hour and need something in your stomach. Not that I indulged in that kind of an establishment, but I headed here with a few friends for a bite after a few drinks. It’s the point in the evening where your options are the 7-Eleven snacks or worse, but fortunately Massive Wieners is open ’til 4am on Fridays and Saturdays (and pretty late most of the time) which is of credit. The layout of the restaurant is minimalistic with a few sought after tables and a single counter with the kitchen mysteriously hidden behind the door. You ring a bell if there’s no-one visible in the store and they’ll pop up to help you out. The store is brightly lit so do ensure your party is adequately drunk or keep eyes closed for cosiness.
Is there a dish more pointless and nutrition-less than a hot dog aka Weiners? Probably not. But is there a dish and venue as FUN? Nope. Come and enjoy this place for what it is. I am here tonight on Halloween with the place themed out and the staff are just having a ball. The shakes are great, the chilli fries ridiculously sinful and the sausages just fun to eat with your mates on a late night after you had a few.
After watching a couple seasons of 'Man V. Food', we decided to look up if Melbourne had any food challenges. We stumbled across Massive Wieners 25 inch hotdog challenge - so we went to give it a go!
The venue is easily accessible via public transport, with tram stops and Prahran train station nearby. It is a cute venue set up like an old American-style hotdog place. We found it entertaining to browse around at all the photos of people that have tried the challenge on the walls. Both staff members we dealt with on were extremely friendly, particularly the owner. He was very sociable and made the whole experience better. They also have vegetarian/vegan options so everyone can have a try!
The hotdog really was HUGE! We thought it was pretty great value, as it was only $15.00 - with the allowance of two condiments and unlimited water. The hotdog was really tasty, and had a really nice flavour. There was a very generous amount of sauce, which is definitely needed to complete the challenge successfully! The bun was nice too, but unfortunately both of us succumb to the sheer size of the hotdog - meaning we landed a spot on the 'Did not finish' wall.
It was a fun experience despite the serious feeling of fullness for the rest of the day. We look forward to going back to Massive Wieners and trying some of their delicious sides. Check them out!
Exciting little place with a bit of personality! I know that this wasn't their original store but a friend mentioned that they've replicated the charm of the old place perfectly.
I've eaten at this place.. maybe 3 times in the span of two weeks. Will be returning very soon to do the massive challenge!!
Staff are super friendly and their dogs are freshly made to order. I highly recommend the pickle and sauerkraut (delish). Fries wise, just get the normal fries, you don't need anything more.
I had a Massive Wiener and I liked it!! Well I had a small wiener but it was still very tasty!! Massive Wieners making everyone laugh since…. well a while! It’s a very simple and effective proposition – a slightly bigger than a hole in the wall hot dog diner. The counter is small and you often ring to get the guy to pop out from the kitchen, the walls are covered in faded pictures of Massive Wiener challengers and their hot or not so hot times. I thought 5 minutes was impressive until I realised there was a less than 5 minutes ‘wiener winners’ on the wall behind me.
I love massive wieners they are the best and the only place to go when you want a large moist wiener that expel some delicious tastes in your mouth
Never fails to impress on a late night! Classic hotdogs and those delicious disco fries with gravy and cheese...satisfies all my cravings! Thank you! ;)
After the hockey on Friday night told my partner I was gunna give her a massive wiener she commented that I must have had an operation that she didn't know about We ordered an average Joe , Massive Kraut with double bacon and cheese and a serve of Disco fries dogs are really good fries fantastic
Massive Wieners is a small, vintage style eatery serving super-sized American hot dogs and sodas in the heart of Melbourne's Prahran. With a great location and great atmosphere it is easy to see why Massive Wieners is popular.
5/5 - Can't fault the snack we just had!
Such a cool and calm way to order a hot dog. A polite well spoken waitress behind the counter, we opted for a "Massive Weiner" to snack between two with added bacon and a side of fries.
Fries were perfect. Not too salty and way better than most chips you get in fast food. Hot dog was really fresh, bun was soft and lots of onion, bacon and mustard. So good!!!
With a fancy root beer it was $17. Pretty good for 2 as a snack after a big hike!
So hot dogs are hot dogs right? Well maybe unless they're all tricked-up and served with every condiment under the sun - or if they're an old school dog served with a huge side of Chapel St Prahran personality. Yeah the dogs are great, but as much as anything this place is just good for the soul.
What it lacks in interior visual appeal it makes up for in goddamn tasty hotdogs. I urge you to get the chilli cheese dog, just trust me.
One day I'll have the guts to try the massive weiner challenge - and I think I'll end up on the wall of shame, rather than the wall of fame. Great dogs, i will be back!
Chili cheese fries!! A medium serve was massive and at a great price! They were delicious and left us satisfied but not feeling gross or over fed. Would love to try more of the menu!
If you like hot dogs than this place is where you need to be. Its a small 'hole in the wall' type place but worth the trek to chapel. Loved the malted shake and my husbsnd wants to attempt their 25inch dog challenge! Good eats
I come here almost weekly with my boyfriend, all the way from frankston!! The store itself is really weird (in a good way) & quirky. It feels like you've stepped back in time (or are in the game fallout)
The vegetarian hotdogs are almost always amazing (i had one last monday that wasnt the same as usual and tasted a bit weird but i will come back in hope that the old one is back)
The fries are good and so are the gravy fries.
I love this place so much the foods a good price and im always full afterwards! Service is always quick and friendly. One day ill attempt the weiner challenge!
We came back again for their famous milkshake! Last time we tried the chocolate milkshake with added malt and it was top of the range in Melbourne. The milkshakes here are just plain classic shakes with no funky flavours or toppings. This time we tried their vanilla shake and it did not dissapoint as well, the shake was thick and creamy, with malt added for extra interesting texture. Unfortunately, we were too full to have a hotdog but we saving it for our next return to this place.
Ordered a 12" pickle hot dog and a 12" chilli con carne hot dog with a small side of disco fries. The disco fries were fresh and delicious. For a small serving it was a very generous amount. The 12" pickle hot dog was well balanced as they put just the right amount of pickles. The bread roll was fresh and soft. The 12" chilli con carne hot dog was okay. The chilli con carne was not as fresh as I would have liked it and the onions were raw - would have liked them to be caramelised.
Regular go to for late night snack! Love that they cater for vegetarians!! Good food, friendly staff and the atmosphere is good too.
I promise this post is PG rated, although I do admit that one of the reasons I frequent Massive Wieners is that this hot dog stand’s name is such a deliciously amusing double entendre; almost as delicious as it’s hot dogs!. Massive Wieners is an old timey American style hot doggery on Chapel st in Prahran with a simple menu of Hot Dogs, Fries and Shakes. We are massive wiener fans here at Casa My Poppet, you’ll occasionally find us here on a Saturday evening grabbing an early dinner at this little diner.
Massive wieners.... Massive flavour at massively impressive prices. I had the chilli fries and 12" dog with all the trimmings. It really hits the spot as a cheap eat. Also the shakes are some of the best around.
Quality dawgs. I went here to make it onto the wall of fame (complete) I left wanting the title. The delicious 25 incher was a worthy advisory
Besides being well known for their hot dogs and fries, get their milkshakes (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry) with extra mocha!! You won't regret it.
Personally being a huge fan of hot dogs (wieners) i would say that a really liked this place.
Firstly the wieners come in 3 different sizes little (3"), average (6"), and massive which is 12". We ordered 2 massives, a little pecker and small portion of chilli cheese fries and yes they were delightful to have them. The pickle relish that they used was just amazing. They have the veggie option too.
The ambience was really simple old songs being played in the background, stools with chest high tables attached to the wall thats it simple yet effective.
Noticeable were the walls, the wall of fame and the wall of shame having photos of people who took the challenge to eat the big daddy of them all a 25"er under 5 mins whosoever completed it had his/her pik on the wall of fame and the others go to the wall of shame.
Would really like to visit you guys once again and try the 25"er, keep rocking 👍🏻
We got 2 vegetarian wieners, awesome that they cater for us :D the disco fries are excellent and the staff are always so well mannered and attentive. Keep up the excellent work 👌🏽
We ordered chips and gravy plus a couple of the standard Weiners.
Chips and gravy were out of this world plus you can't forget the classic Weiner!! DELISH! I had a 10" but easily could have up sized.
Service was quick and staff are lovely :)
Dined here at 2am on a Friday night after work. I ordered a vegetarian chilli cheese and my friend ordered the normal chilli cheese 12". The staff were super friendly. My friend enjoyed his hotdog and finished quite quickly, the vege hotdog was good, the taste reminds me of a falafel but it was kinda dry towards the end. Wished I had ordered the fries after reading the other reviews.
I love this place. Great when you need to throw down some food. Awesome. Always delicious wieners. Friendly staff. Chilli dog and Disco fries are my staple. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Great place for after clubbing and a late night feed. Really cheap to get full off aswell. Got here at 10:00pm on a Thursday night and ordered a classic 12" Massive Weiner, Chilli Cheese Fries and a Chocolate Milkshake. We were a little let down that the sausages were more boiled than grilled but still tasted good, we were also let down that the onions were fresh chopped rather than caramelised. The fries were the most filling part of the meal, a tad too much mustard flavour for my liking but nonetheless good. The interior has snaps of challengers for the restaurant's challenge, which helps pass time. The cashier was dressed themed and was very friendly.
When I feel like a guilty pleasure, the shakes, fries and dogs here absolutely hit the spot. Service is very friendly with a retro-hipster feel. Minor complaint: the tables and chairs feel like a bit of an afterthought. Highly recommended!
The wiener challenge (and wall of photos) is fun. The service is fast food but fine. The hot dogs are just standard hot dog meat, the rolls used are just soft white bread, the chilli is nothing special. I don't go here for the hot dogs. The fries are absolutely where its at!! The fries are the bomb! If you like your fries shoestring with great toppings to almost make it a meal you must have the fries!! Milkshakes are good too although took a while to come out. And whereas can you get your food fix at 2am on Chapel St that is so good??
Oh my god, the food here is incredible.
True, I only ever tasted it after partaking in a few wines, but the hot dogs and fries they have here are fantastic.
The servers wearing bow ties and in such a minimalistic setting is a funny touch, but for a late night feed, it can not be beat!
Awesome place with cool vintage vibe, really feels like the place has been there for decades! Yummy favourite is disco fries slathered in gravy to warm up on a winters day but also the chilli dogs are great and very filling, can't go past a malted shake too. Rolls baked fressh every day and hotdogs always juicy.
The disco fries are to die for! Especially after a substantial amount of beers. I am a big fan of their opening hours, being one of the latest to close on Chapel St.
Disco fries-omg. Not anywh.... Disco fries-omg.
Not anywhere to sit really, but staff were nice, even offered us a free Weiner.
Food is simple but goooood
...It's not gourmet or innovative, but they've found their niche and they do it well. The hot dogs are generously topped, the buns are soft with a tender chewiness and the fries are crisp. Serving sizes are adequate and the prices are fair. Not to mention I garner quite a bit of delight in ordering a "Little Pecker"....
It's this super cute new hot dog place on Greville Street in Prahran. It's super cute. More importantly, it's super delicious. I ordered the hot dog with pickles and my boyfriend added 'sauerkraut' to my order. I frowned and said I didn't want it but he convinced me and the lovely employee said I could go halvies at least.
No complaints here about this wiener experience, it definitely delivered more than a one time fling. In fact, I sense the beginning of a promising casual relationship.
Massive Wieners is a hot dog eatery located at 113 Greville Street, Prahran. They’re a fun little spot to get your wiener on, and offer a nice variety of options to try out. First option is how much wiener you can handle, with their sizes being a 3 inch “Little Pecker”, the 6 inch “Average Joe” and the 12 inch “Massive Wiener”. Slightly intimidated by the brown 12 inch wiener, I opted for the average joe and mumbled something about the motion of the ocean. Next you chose what you’re going to cover your wiener with (and it’s always important to cover your wiener). You can go for the Classic, Kraut, Pickle, Vegetarian (a meatless wiener sounds like an oxymoron) and Chilli Cheese. I wanted to add some spice to my wiener so went with the chilli cheese, which also included onion, beans and diced tomato. You can’t beat $5 for a stacked wiener like that, and while the wiener itself isn’t gourmet the toppings make up for it. They were the perfect walking entree as we wandered around Prahran l
Great Food, Great Service!. I've been here a couple times now- first for milkshakes, the second time for food. Every time I've been the owner has been there and he's super friendly! He's very passionate about his job and you can tell he loves his business!
Good vibes and of course the weiners and chilli fries were delicious. The milkshakes are also really nice! Definitely worth checking out.
Best I've had.. Cannot fault a thing, the wieners and chips were excellent and good quality, as was the service. Would definitely be happy to come back again! perhaps the only criticism is that I hate eating at bar stools as I find it uncomfortable, and a couple more proper tables would be sweet.
Cute little snack. But not for meals. I went there a few times since I have a sausage dog (literally lol) And they are welcome there so it's no brainer for us to check it out.
Everything was ok. Nothing to really rant over. For the price you get I don't really know what to really say. It's a hot dog lol. But the last time we went it was on 4th July and one dog was for free! So that was nice.
Service always good :)
Really good. It is such a cute place, simple and great food.
Nice service, the sauces are great and the french fries.. I am still to try all of the combos.
Trippers make great dogs. These guys are a little quirky and i was slightly apprahensive upon waling in but after ordering and eating the Massive Pickle I was astounded. Best Hot dog ive ever had. All while having a picture of a horse sitting right in front of me. Hilariuous
YUM! What a great spot in the heart of Chapel St. Very good quality AND quantity of food for the price. Well done, MW!
Great little place, chilli dogs and disco fries are great
Great dogs and chilly fries, great value for money. Try out for the 25' challenge
Awesome footlong hotdog. Not much you can say about that. Had the footlong with sauces and sourkraut and loved it. Service area is strange... quite odd, but the servers are really good at what they do.
Need to call the day before sometime so I can try the 25" challenge. That's like more than 2 footlongs, but I reckon I can do it.
Disco Stu.... Even if I have just had lunch or dinner somewhere else on Chapel street I'm compelled to come in for a 'traveller' on my way home. A snack sized disco fries get's me every time! In Canada they call the heavenly combo of melted cheese with gravy and fries 'Poutine'. Here they add onions and you have 'Disco Fries'. Throw in an organic creamy soda from NZ and you have the perfect second lunch and or dinner. ; )
Delicious dogs and damn good milkshakes... Try the disco fries for a unique gravy treat. Have to come back for the 25" challenge!
Afternoon Delight. I never eat hot dogs but everyone seems to be heading to Massive Wieners so I thought I'd try it out. SO much better than I thought and the disco fries are AMAZING!
I'm a converted hot dog lover!
Best Dogs in Town. I haven't had a hotdog from Massive Wieners in ages because I moved to another area of town but on Friday night I had the pleasure of walking past their marvellous new Chapel St location. As such, I decided to treat myself to a Veggie Hot Dog and as soon as I took a bite into it I remembered why I used to love them so much in the first place. Definitely the best Hot Dogs in town.
All my friends rave about the fries there too and so I'm going to make sure I get the fries next time as well.
As usual, the service and the atmosphere within the Massive Wieners store was fantastic! Everyone seemed to be having a good time!
I'm converted! I love wieners. My boyfriend dragged me and my hangover here. Glad we made the visit! I haven't eaten a hot dog in ages, and can't believe I waited so long! The guys at massive wieners are hilarious and serve up a great authentic dog, with a range of toppings. Great comfort food but all prepared fresh to order. Took a couple of minutes to get our food, as fries were cooked fresh. Where else can you get an authentic hot dog, fries with gravy and an old school chocolate shake! I'm so sick of experimental new wanna be gourmet food, when the old favourites done well, with humorous service is so much better!
A new late night (and day after) favourite!
I used to like the old shop but LOVE the new chapel store!! Keep up the great work! Best dogs in town!!
Great experience. Hilarious couple of guys with a genius marketing plan.
Had a regular hotdog and some chili cheese fries. Both were pretty good! Will be going back for sure.
They're really massive wieners. It's tasty and will fill you up nicely. The guys running this place are also friendly.
I loved that they had a vegetarian hotdog! Quite dry for my taste but out was passable... But what made the meal for me was the bread... I love that it's got a texture like none I've had before... Chewy bread that is unusual in a good way! Been to this place about three times and I plan on coming back again and again...
Yeyyy these fellas were at southland today and I got to try the pickle wiener!! I'm a massive fan of a good ol' hotdog so I was in my element! Definitely a delicious and filling snack- next time ill go the whole hog and have the sauerkraut too!
Jovial. Great little spot for a snack on the way to somewhere or back from somewhere, thats assuming that its open. This is processed meat in bread done right.
The selection of dogs is many and sure to please.
The service is friendly with a love of staff referencing the name. Staff presentation reminds of a time when tailors, bootshines and radio used to exist.
Thanks for the memories boys, just don't ask when the hotdog water was last changed.
Would i go there again? Yes.
7/10
Great Hotdogs. Just had an Average Joe Chili Dog with Jalapenos. Fantastic! Will be back soon.
Friendly staff, Great service. First time being there, it was located near prahran station. Lots of vintage clothing shops and small cafes/restaurants around. The wiener was nice. But top up for the friendly staff who tries to talk to every single customer. very nice and helpful.
This is a takeaway place, only few chairs no table provided. Great hotdog for quick grab. They have vegetarian hotdog too.
you could also up for a massive wiener challenge, is $15, if you can finish within 5 minutes, its FREE!!
Super Size Me. Have been following the Massive Wiener boys’ antics since they set up shop in Prahran late last year, however only managed to sample one of their hot dogs recently whilst they were undertaking a promotion at Westfield Southland.
Massive Wieners Dave & Liam are a couple of very humorous chaps and I quite admire the way they’ve managed to build such a booming business with such a simple product.
On the day I met the guys they were flogging wieners of all dimensions. There was the three inch Little Pecker, the six inch Average Joe, the twelve inch Massive Wiener and an unbelievable twenty five inch monster geared towards the competitive eaters wanting a challenge.
Their hot dogs may not be particularly remarkable, however their marketing skills are undoubtedly brilliant.
Cool and quirky little place with great service. The wieners were very satisfying, but it was pretty much a normal hot dog with a couple of toppings.
Overall, I would go back and I'd recommend to friends as a novelty.
Cheeky service by some dapper lads. Wieners were tasty and well decorated with toppings, and only 7 dollars for 12 inches. Thanks fellas! We'll be back to satisfy for our weekly wiener wantings.
Wonderful Wieners. A very interesting tiny little shop -a short walk from Chapel St - with virtually no signage, decoration or shopfitting (talk about minimal). The guy manning the counter (dressed in a suit jacket, bow tie and thongs) was surprisingly friendly, helpful and very chatty - which was nice.
The food was exactly what was advertised: hot dogs ... large and well presented hot dogs, but hot dogs none the less (no other food on the menu yet). Freshly baked rolls, tasty condiments (Chilli Wiener for me and Pickle Wiener for her) and a 'tailor made pork wiener' combined well to make impressive hot dogs. If you're in the area, are in the mood for hot dogs, this place would be a very good lunch, afternoon or late night snack option.
This good, honest, simple food. Love it. It's not often these days you can walk into a food shop, order based on the menu, and receive food that exceeds your expectations. Im a graphic designer, and Massive Wieners have a great menu!
The food here really is top notch, its simple. its not trying to be this ultimate hot dog stand, its just bloody good food. Love the Chilli Dog, and bringing back SunnyBoys from the school yard. Nice one Liam!
Got myself a classic wiener a few weeks ago. It was really huge. Bit disappointed that they were out of onions. Still it tasted pretty good. My friend ha the vege option and was pleasantly surprised. You can't see how they make the weiners as they go to the back and then suddenly pull out a weiner in front of your nose! Good for a fast food eatery.
Best wiener I've ever tasted and I've had a lot of wieners. Gourmet and delicious
I thought I died and went to heaven - but alas, I landed at massive weiners and ate a huge one!
Awesome. Vegetarian wiener comes highly recommended. Wonderful hospitality. Get there this summer.
Chilli dogs mmm. Just had a large regular chilli dog with cheese and chilli sauce. Perfect way to start a Friday night (and I am sure a perfect way to end a night with too). Good value at $6 for a dog!

Mister Mode loved Massive Wieners Hotdog bar!. Mister Mode was invited to the soft launch of the Massive Weiner's Hotdog store in Prahran. The Ko-Op boys decided to keep everything hush hush until I walk through that door and to my surprise, the pun of a Massive Wiener shocked but excited me.
Initially, I thought a hot dog this size could go wrong.
But to my surprise, it was Fantastic! The buns were toasted, the CUSTOM MADE sausages were YUM!
And to top of it, tomato, mustard and cheese.
I was in hotdog heaven.
Best Wiener Ever. The most satisfying meal. Perfect size.
With such a simple and well-priced menu, I think Massive Wieners will be successful. They fit in well to their Greville St location, and their look is very smart, but as for my next veggie dog - I'll probably just grill it at home with some onions and green pepper and maybe some dijon mustard.

Massive Wieners is a fabulous hot dog purveyor in Prahran. It's hard to write anything about Massive Wieners without referring to the name - which obviously raises a smile. Nonetheless these guys are serious about hot dogs. There's a sense of fun and conviviality around Massive Wieners and this is mainly fuelled by fun loving guys Dave Brennan and Liam Magee. The boys fronted up to Melbourne Central in their pressed white shirts and bow ties looking like angels. They are prone to laughter and are prolific on social media.

As I stepped into the store, the Massive Wiener pun all came together. They had groovy chillax tunes, friendly welcomes, a rustic lounge, and a backyard bonfire – It was a great atmosphere of prolonged rarity.
You have one choice to make – 6”, 12” or 25”…….. That IS a Massive Wiener!! There are many pictures of successful 25” punters and their winning times to absorb a hotdog the size of your forearm!! I love that under the bench tops are those that failed!!! So there is no expensive fit out here, no flashy menus, no wine lists! The options are generally pretty simple – firstly select whether you want to be; Classic Veggie (nah!!) Chilli Kraut Pickle Self explanatory! I am a classic girl! I am sure I could be tempted to some chilli or Kraut slathering but today I want simply perfect! So size selections sorted, grab a soda from the fridge and if you need fries you can get some really good, salty shoe strings in equal sizing options! My 6” classic with cheese, ‘inoffensive’ onion, ketchup and mustard was not only a perfect lunch but was also the perfect size! I finally understand portion control! Hubby wolfed down a 12” no problem. Sitting in the window you can see everyone walking past thinki
Now let me say this right off that bat: this is not a gourmet hot dog, so don’t go in expecting one! The smoked frank and squishy white bun is a classic diner staple, the kind of thing that could be packed up into a cart and sold on the side of the street. It was lathered with sauce, including a bright pickle relish, and scattered with diced onions and cheese. Good food? Not really. Delicious? Absolutely.
Although the sausage isn’t as gourmet as say Snag Stand or Dognation, the prices are cheaper and hot dogs bigger. They also came with fantastic toppings which made them even more delicious.
