Review Maki-mix - Prahran

Food was good BUT... The service and ambiance was well below average. For starters, they served us in takeaway containers although we were dine-in. This is acceptable for street food, not a place like this. I’m sure this was far more convenient than having to wash up plates and cutlery. The place also reeked of cooking oil, some people may not find this an issue but to us it was not pleasant at all. Overall, the staff were very unbothered and couldn’t care less. We didn’t even have water on the table. The tuna poke bowl was very good and so was the salmon roll. There was not much to desire from the beef curry bowl. Stick to their best sellers, skip their specials. If we ever want to have their food again we would just go for takeout, dining in was a disappointment and mistake.

Order some take away dinner last night for the first time ,and it was great !😀😀😀❤️ The moment you walks in ,you can smell the delicious food from their semi open kitchen Staff were all so nice and smiles, even I was 10 mins early to pick up my food, and it's ready, seriously not playing around lol🙆 I ordered prawn curry rice and katsu curry rice and some dumplings And there's 5 PRAWNS 🍤🍤🍤🍤🍤 IN IT 🤯🤯🤯 katsu was a very decent size as well 😲 Anyway, was a very beautiful food experience 🥰🥰🥰

Ordered 5x sushi rolls for $62 for a work lunch, after waiting a whole hour the order arrived with only 2/5 items. Called the restaurant to ask if the Uber driver left them behind as I was close by and could collect them but turns out they were never made. Was told they are now sold out of the missing items and “there’s nothing we can do now can we give you a credit for those items for next time”. Completely unacceptable customer service, if the items weren’t available I should have been notified when I ordered an hour earlier, but they weren’t they were just missed. I have had consistent issues with missing items from this restaurant when ordering delivery. Nice food but consistently unreliable service and won’t be back

Very nice !!! Got takeaway via DoorDash this evening and was very impressed with everything. Vibrant, fresh, tasty and innovative dishes. Will definitely eat here again soon.

Been here twice and both times were equally lovely. Service was warm and speedy. Food was just simply delicious. Had the taco-makis on the first occasion and the poke bowl on the second occasion. Particularly loved the poke bowl as I could customise it based on what I like. Highly highly recommended Maki-Mix and I am so gonna be a regular!

The good: gyoza were tasty and hot. The bad: prawn curry was rather bland and cold, and the rice was cold. Sushi was just average. The ugly: a long wait. Food came out inconsistently (I had to ask the waiter twice!). Also had to ask twice for water. This place needs to lift its service and quality of food. I won’t be back otherwise.

First time around was brilliant, some of the best nori tacos and bao buns I've ever had. But second time I got nori tacos everything was cold and the nori was overdone or something and actually difficult to bite through. Staff didn't seem to notice I was waiting for service for a while either. Hope it's a one off.

Love it!! Love It!!!! LOVE IT!!!

Doordashed couple of times and the quality has always been consistent. They are so good...And it's value for money.

Especially love their Pecking Duck Bowl and Katsu Chicken Curry

This is a fairly good option for poke bowls if you live around Windsor. i loved that they have a range of healthy and less healthy options. Purple rice was cooked perfectly and went well with the other ingredients. They added kewpie throughout the dish so you would easily finish the rice. The salmon was good too. Not the most value for money dish at $12.9 but it’s healthy and delicious!

Soft shell crab roll was delicious. Pricy but they make it fresh. The various texture, flavour blend so well.

Points for: nothing particularly bad or outstanding, wysiwyg.
Poke bowls have arrived on Chapel St, and I’m not surprised given the accessibility of the dish.

The bed of purple rice is a good alternative to white or brown rice, and the rest of the veggies (shredded carrot, cucumber, cabbage, etc) are all very fresh.

Little bit of a small serving of cubed tuna.

It is what is is, deviated quite a bit of ways from the original Hawaiian dish, but this is what Melbourne has now accepted as poke.

Friendly and attentive service.
