Review Silom Thai Melbourne - Prahran

The place has a nice atmosphere. The waiter was very helpful and recommended traditional dishes. The food was nice and. Good flavour. The position size is adequate . A nice place to grab Thai food.

Ordered some takeaway to pick up last Saturday night. Although the restaurant was empty our order took close to 45 minutes as opposed to the 20 minutes they said on the phone. The Yellow Curry was nice, the Rice was very cluggy, Chicken Satay sticks were dry and the Roti bread was hard and seemed stale. I must say the girl in the restaurant was lovely however I could hear an Australian man (I think the owner) yelling and swearing at the staff out the back. I don't recommend this restaurant.

Ordered via Menulog. Waited for a long time and food was below average. One of the worst satay chicken I've had and couldn't finish my Tom Yum soup, which also had chewy prawns. The roti with tofu was okay, but was filled with the bad satay sauce.

Ordered fried rice and prawn Tom yum soup via Menulog. Fried rice Asked for it to be spicy but wasn't. Peas and corn were stale and tasted like cardboard. Very stingy with the BBQ pork and they were chopped so small they were almost mince. The rice itself was oily, grainy, tasteless and bland. Tom yum soup 3 miserable prawns, 2 mushrooms and a few pieces of chopped carrots, ingredients to make a miserable soup. It was more sweet than sweet and spicy as it should be. Obviously not taking pride in what they cook. 1 star rating is being very generous. Would never recommend it or order again. Utter waste of $25.

Ordered off menulog and it was the worst pad Thai I have ever had! It smelt like fish and it was vegetarian, was sour and soggy smelt and and looked like some had already chewed it and spat it back out. Was very disappointed I couldn't even eat it. WASTE OF MONEY

Nasi Goreng was enjoyable, but they managed to stuff up my partners Pad Thai. Waitress was flustered and rude despite there being only two other tables in the restaurant. This would be a two star rating if the prices weren't so high!

We ordered via eat now, waited over an hour for our delivery and they got it wrong. We called the restaurant, they didn't want to hear it, the manager hung up on us. We called back but the manager was now 'busy'. We ended up having to go down there ourselves to pick up what they forgot; conveniently, the manager was still 'busy' and unable to talk to us. They were not in any way willing to cooperate and fix their errors; they were incompetent, disrespectful and have absolutely no standards when it comes to customer service.

Fish cakes were delicious 10/10 - Pad Thai was different to what I usually find in Sydney although was not unpleasant and was still enjoyable to eat.

Ordered a vegetarian curry to pick up which once I got all the way home realised was actually full of chicken. My friend who wasn’t vegetarian ate some of it but after a few bites found a rubber band in there. We called to let them know and they offered to sort us out next time we came in but I don’t think I’ll be eating there again.

The Food overall was quite good, and who can complain about free delivery. I recommend the pad see ew with prawns, and red curry with chicken . We also ordered a eggplant and tofu dish.... but it wasn’t something that I’d reorder again.....

I ordered fried rice with pineapple. I literally got fried rice with pineapple, no other vegetables no egg but I did get a nice piece of egg shell... For $12.90 it is a complete rip off. The roti bread was cold and I couldn't pull it apart with my hands. Wouldn't recommend it.

Went here for dinner tonight with my girlfriend, ordered a Green Vegetable Curry and some fried rice, was delicious and food arrived in a timely manner. The restaurant was empty and the one waitress serving us was super friendly despite speaking very little English. It had a nice atmosphere and I'd go again! Worth a look!

This restaurant is also operating under the name 'Siam Oriental Thai and Asian Restaurant', and I called to check on my order placed through eatnow.com but they answered 'Silom Thai', so obviously they had to rebrand due to how badly they run their business.<br/>My order was supposed to arrive in an hour and 10 minutes, a long time but whatever.<br/>After an hour and a half, I call and they tell me the delivery driver had already left a while back. Another 20 minutes later, I call again and they tell me the same thing, however I live 5-8 minutes drive from this restaurant, and the lady on the phone confirmed that he was dropping off several other deliveries first. When the delivery guy drops off my cold, gluey pad Thai and my overcooked, hard pork Penang curry, with cold solid coconut rice, I was understandably pretty pissed off.<br/>In summation, this restaurant seems to be disorganized and poorly run, and whilst I'm sure they mean well they need I seriously reassess how they do things and make thorough improvements or 'Silom Thai' will also end up needing to be rebranded and left a failure of the past.

So disappointed as I was really looking forward to having Prawn Pad Thai but couldn't even force my self to eat it. Such a shame!!

Yum yum. Called in after work and they had a pork belly special....so good with lots of veggies. Ate way too much but it was so good!!! Picking up a takeaway menu for next time!!!!

We ordered at the counter and waited to take away ... It took about 45 mins for a simple order ( there was only 2 tables in restaurant and a handful of collections in this time ) food was below average ... Would not recommend and will not return

I have never actually written a review before, good or bad - but this was so terrible I unfortunately had to. It didn't even taste like Thai - no flavour, very bland. The Pad Thai was quite bizarre? Very tangy... And the Beef with Oyster sauce tasted more like a stew. Won't be going here again.

First time to order from here and will definitely order again. Just have the yummiest chicken laksa and duck spring rolls delivered for 24bucks. Yum!

Never again.. You could easily do a better job at home. If your drunk and not going to remember eating this then it's probably passable otherwise I'd steer well clear, there are way better places locally.

I rarely do this but the food I just received from Silom Thai is so inedible I feel the need to write something to prevent someone else having the same terrible experience.<br/><br/>The lemon chicken was so dry, even the sauce couldn't make it edible. The satay chicken was burnt and also dry and the tom yum soup serving was tiny.<br/><br/>I'm completely disgusted and disappointed I just wasted $35 on getting this delivered to my house.

Horrible food. Don't bother wasting your money. The food was dreadful. Stir fried vegetables were boiled in salted water, chicken fatty and poor quality. We spent $90 on takeaway from here and threw 2/3 of it away. We also had to wait an hour for this disgusting food.<br/>The place is dirty and no surprise had no one in it.<br/>Much better Thai takeaway places in the area.

Worst Thai experience ever!. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE! This was my worst Thai food experience I have ever had. Started off bad and went to worse. Firstly, we order on a Thursday night and are told that it will be maximum 1 hour. After an hour and still no food I call them to be told it will be 15 minutes. 20 minutes later still no food so I call them and ask to cancel but they say it will be 2 more minutes. 10 more minutes the food arrives. 1 and a half hours to deliver on a Thursday night! For being late they offer us a free can of soft drink to compensate.<br/><br/>Second, they forget part of our meal.<br/><br/>Third, we ordered our meals to be mild and when we start eating, the food is so hot we are both dripping in sweat.<br/><br/>Finally, the food is terrible! Tastes so bad it is like the ingredients are months old and the chefs are 2 years olds.<br/><br/>If you want to ruin your evening then order from this place. Otherwise avoid it.

Wasn't expecting much but pleasantly surprised. Ordered take away to be collected in an hour and their timing was spot on. Tasted fresh and good flavours

Good selection, value and tasty food. Reliable local take away.... if they answer the phone cos they're so busy. A good sign I guess.

AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. One of the worst delivery experiences to date.<br/><br/>We have ordered from Silom Thai twice.<br/><br/>The first time they took over an hour to deliver our food. On top of this, they had completely failed to give us the right dishes. <br/><br/>Our second experience (this evening) was even worse with delivery taking nearly two hours. After waiting for eternity, we received a call from the delivery person, who could neither speak nor understand english. He was completely incapable of following the simple directions to our apartment that we provided on menulog. After wasting 15 minutes of our time trying to explain directions, we ended up having to leave our apartment and walk around Chapel street looking for him. <br/><br/>Hardly the definition of home delivery...<br/><br/>On top of this, food was completely cold / soggy.<br/><br/>Terrible service and extremely average food. Avoid.

Terrible. First didn't get what we ordered, rung up, was unapologetic and blamed the website. Was then delivered the rest to add to the meal.... once this arrived my food was cold as well as the sauce and tofu that they sent (tofu was horribly dry and disgusting). Not to mention the food wasn't cooked properly to start with. Ended up chucking the food away after two spoonfuls and ordering from another place. <br/><br/>Stay clear of this place, can't imagine much worse.

Best Thai I have had in a long time. Massaman Lamb was cooked perfectly, as was the prawn and lemongrass stir fry. Had it delivered and it arrived on-time. Would recommend it to anyone, despite some of the reviews on here.

PRETTY BAD! I ordered on menulog, 2 meals came to $24, min delivery order $25... Ok so I ordered a roti bread to make it $27.50. Didn't want the bread but I needed to reach minimum. That's ok with me. Gets delivered..... $30. Guy said the website prices were old. Pissed me off to start as i didn't even want bread. Strike 1... Then I get to my hotel room, no cutlery included. Strike 2... Lastly I open my meal and it's not what I ordered. I wanted PHAT THAI which is rice, they sent PAD THAI which is noodles. I checked my net order to confirm I asked for the right meal. I was correct.... Strike 3. Overall the meals were bland and tasteless. 2 prawns in my pad Thai. Delivery was longer than quoted. Pretty bad restaurant guys. You need alot of improvement to start seeing repeat customers.

Worst Thai in Melbourne.. Food - could improve. Service ok

Poor Service. I ordered at 6pm, was told it would be delivered by 7pm. At 7:30 I called to see if there was an issue, they said they were getting ready to leave and it wouldn't be far away. At 8pm I get a call from them saying they couldn't deliver it anymore. They were unapologetic, made excuses and did nothing to make me want to order from them ever again. As a first time customer of Silom Thai I'm actually glad in a way that the order didn't get delivered, as I'm now reading that the food isn't very good.

Bad delivery. Got delivery on fri night, was pretty ordinary. Wouldn't recommend.

Nice local Thai. This is another one of my favourite locals. It's not the best Thai around, but it's still very good and fairly priced. Service is always pleasant and we'll keep going back.

The waitress recommened Redang Beef... It was fantastic!!
