Review Pings Dumpling Kitchen - Preston

Tommy Keating
Very fast service, nice staff and the food was awesome! We had the spring onion pancake, best we’ve ever had! So delicious and crunchy! The beef noodle stir fry and the pork dumplings were really good, the dumplings were massive! Large serves for a good price! We will be back.
STP
Their dumplings are pretty good most of the time 👍 but fried rice has been hit-and-miss. We always order the Shanghai Stir-Fried Noodles but this time we skipped it and tried Special Chilli Sliced Lamb which was too salty for my liking. Meal was served super fast and they are in decent portions too 😁

Don’t let Ping’s Dumpling Kitchen fool you, they have 10/10 dishes of all varieties! Didn’t even take a picture of the food until halfway through since it was all so delicious! Have been many times since I moved to Melbourne and I’m always blown away by their generous serving sizes, which for me is very impressive. I remember the second time I went, I looked at the notes on my phone and all it said was “portions massive only order one plate”. I would give 6 stars if I could!

Have you ever just happened upon a place, totally unplanned and discover some really amazing food? Ping’s is my favourite dumpling place in Preston! Their prices are really great, and the food is super tasty. I would totally recommend the cucumber cold dish to start. There are so many flavours that I couldn’t begin to even describe. Oh, and free flowing tea at your table! To be honest, I was so ready to dig in to the food that I didn’t get the chance to take a proper picture of the food. Would definitely keep coming back here!

Food: to be honest, pretty average. Nothing special about it, just typical Asian food. The beef was chewy, not a fan. Wontons in chilli oil - smallest wontons I’ve ever had. On the plus, comes out quick, and freshly made. Venue: definitely needs an upgrade. Pretty old looking. Service was okay I guess. Not as attentive as you’d like. Overall, average.
Suthee Vatanopast
Great dumplings and reasonably priced. Quick service and tasty food. Cant ask for much more than that.
Thomas Lim
An institution of Preston, Ping’s Dumpling Kitchen never disappoints. Had the spring onion pancake, Shanghai fried noodles and fried pork buns. The spring onion pancakes, gah dayum, so crunchy and packed with flavour. The Shanghai fried noodles, as expected, hits the spot. And the fried pork buns, mayne, no words can describe it.

Great prices for great tasting dumplings. This place stays very busy and for good reason. We only eat out a maximum of once a week, but still we've chosen to eat here three times now and haven't been disappointed yet! Unfortunately though we've not tried much of the menu, just the dumplings.
Susie Stroud
Relaxed atmosphere good service and top food good variety cold beer too
Brooke Arnold
Amazing dumplings! Would definitely recommend. Cheap, easy and fast!
James Buchanan
Amazing boiled dumplings - best in Melbourne and great prices too !
Sonia Bolzan-Follacchio
Best vegetarian dumplings 🥟 in The northern burbs
Glenn Cooper
Very good food only problem being they brought out the main meals before the entree need to fix that up
Emily McIntosh
Amazing Dumplings! $5 beers! and that garlic cucumber salad....so yummy! one of my favourite places! :)

收钱那个。非常的不礼貌!! 我们站在柜台前说要结账。柜台里的服务员完全忽视我们!! 钱付了。找回给我们的钱。也不说。就那样丢在那边!! 我们是去受气的吗??
Alice Cordwell
The food was delicious ! Enjoyed the Asian greens; Dumplings - Yum ! Service - helpful, attentive & efficient
Daniel Bergbauer
great dumplings hit and miss service when the owner isn't in the business
Federico Gonnella
Food was good and well priced, but the staff need to take a long hard look ar themselves very average, but saying that ill be back just for the food..
Kenneth Geiberras
The food is outstanding and inexpensive. I love their hot and sour soup. I plan on having my 60th birthday party/meal at Pings early next month

Can not fault the service, food or atmosphere. A pleasurable dining experience without the cramped table arrangements of many restaurants.

* * some staff needs training! * * food is actually good, and service is great! i've patronised this place since their opening and I have but only good reviews, and they also catered to my special request which is simply adding 4pcs extra of wonton to all the noodle soups i ordered... i've never had problems with this and i was more than happy to pay extra, everytime, of which i always do... that is, UNTIL TODAY 03 June 2014 at around 6.30pm at the PRESTON OUTLET... I called to order for take away (1x #34 Fresh Beef & vegetable in noodle Soup and 1x #21 Braised belly pork in noodle soup.) Rachel answered the phone. already when she answered the phone there was no warmth nor welcome... there was no life in her voice, as if this was too much of a chore... nevertheless i placed my order, with my usual special request of extra wonton... outrightly she said she can't do, without offering any explanation, even when i have already mentioned that I was always accorded this special request... still she just kept on repeating "we can't do it" or "there is no way we can do it" (all in the Mandarin)... until i insisted and asked "why" and thats when the lightbuld moment for her clicked and she asked somebody there whether my request is doable... in the end when everything is now fine and settled she never said thank you on the phone, nor did she take my name nor my contact number for reference of this phone order... so my friend and i went and picked up our order... when we entered the venue she (when i found out later it was Rachel) kept on chatting to another staff while sitting at the cash register, without acknowledging me and my friend, until one of the staff acknowledged our presence... when i mentioned that we were there to pick up our called-in order, did she turn around to look at us and handed our order to me and said the total price in huff without looking at me, without even managing a smile... after paying, i didn't hear any "thank you" or "see you again"... i really felt that i was not welcome in this restaurant. this recent experience left me with a bad total experience with this place... it almost erased all the good experiences that I had before... I hope management could handle this Rachel girl and ensure that she is trained to welcome guest with a welcoming voice and a warm smile... The owners/management should realise that their FRONT LINE STAFF (whether answering phone calls or welcoming guests) are the ones responsible for making and breaking of the first and final impressions that customers have in their mind as part of their total experience with the venue... for now, i am giving this experience a 2 star... i am more than happy to change it when i see an improvement in their staff (especially Rachel) with customer services and relationship.

Food is tasty.... but service is not very up to par. Would recommend their fried dumplings. Will be coming back when I miss their dumplings
Jasmine Wendt
Its so good I love it

I use to love this place. Cheap good food. However, my last few visits were not great. The food is no where near as nice. Not too sure what happened :(.
Ken KOO
Always be good to eat at this restaurant, you can choose a lot different style food.

Good food, good prices, good dumplings, good rice & good noodles.

Pan fried pork dumplings on point.
Shanghai fried noodles with pork on point.
Chilli beef on rice on point.
Beef brisket noodles on point.
Coco cola refreshment on point.
Chinese lady at the counter on point.
Yea pings great

Lamb ribs were great

It's always busy at this restaurant and they do really good dumpling in this suburbs. Price is very reasonable and the serving is very generous as well.
Linda
Pros: the pan fried dumplings are delectable! Perfect flavouring, authentic and juicy. One of the best! Meat fillings for all dumplings are great and seasoning. Good value for money, will definitely be back for the dumplings!

Cons: the wonton soup was bland.
Andrea Porcaro
Dive. Holes in the walls, sticky tables and dirty cutlery. 🤮 would not recommend anyone to come here. You can find much better Chinese food in better environment
Eatenbymae
Their dumplings are really good. Handmade and well done with great textures and flavours. The pan fried pork buns are the best. Nicely crisp on the bottom yet fluffy on the top and filled with delicious tasty pork. If you don't know what to have, go for that and you can't go wrong.
TU NGUYEN
Super cheap, great for groups! Come here for the dumplings and DanDan noodles! 👌👌 I would give 5/5 but the service lacks a bit! Other than that the food is great!
Mr MM Smith
Delicious dumplings and other assorted Asian favourites on offer at excellent prices. Place is spotless and staff are super friendly. Free tea and eftpos available too. I love the pan fried dumplings but be warned, it's very filling.
Saady
Foods ok, won’t be in a hurry to go back, dumplings were a little bland and not enough flavour. Soup was ok. Will give it another go next time I’m in the area.
Nicholas Alexander
Great place. No fuss and good Chinese food including dumplings. Always quick service and nice food. Ticks all the boxes at a great price. This is our regular for dumplings.
Piggyeatalot
3.5 stars Burp. We may have overordered. Ordering four dishes between to two of us is rather too much. You have been warned.

Highly recommended are the pan fried buns.

Their fish ball soup has plenty of veggies with a nice warming gingery soup base which is fantastic for winter.

Their dumplings in chilli oil wasn’t as great. I thought it’s just in chilli oil and not a whole lot of soup! The beef dumplings are a bit too soy saucey IMO.

The pork and spinach wontons were good.

The tea wasn’t the best and the coconut water (canned) is so-so. Will be back for more dumplings, but I might have to BYO water bottle.
Matthew Ryan Pearce
Amazing dumplings, great value for money and efficient service. Recommend the #1 item on the menu, 15 pork dumplings. More than enough by itself to fill you up
ALICE ⚡️
the dumplings are SO GOOD HERE 🥟
I’ve been here over a handful of times the shanghai pan fried mini buns are soooo juicy
the prices are also reasonable 😁
The Biker Foodie
Stumbled across this little gem after refusing to eat at a sub standard Asian place across the road.
Well... Great meal, lively atmosphere, efficient staff and cold beer.
Had the dumplings in chilli oil, pan fried chicken and prawn dumplings, stir fried chilli beef and steamed rice. Tsing Tao beer.
Well cooked, well presented and worth the visit.
Happy to return one day.
TiffanyTzimas2
Stumbled upon this place and grateful I did. Atmosphere and set out of the place wasn’t that extraordinary but the food was mouth watering and such a good price for what you get. Had the vegetarian dumplings and they were so good. They were a reasonable size and could tell they were cooked fresh.
A good place for a cheap eat for sure.
Julian James
Best restaurant in all of Australia. Very good price. I eat the same thing every time which is beef dumplings because I am a beef dumpling. Fried rice is good. Can’t go wrong here
David
Decent place. Nothing to set it apart from the many dozens of dumpling places in the city. You get a good feed for an average price. I had the fried dumplings and they were ok
Lole Lole Lole
The Shanghai stir fried noodles was the bomb!! So good. The dumplings, though, I don't know. Felt a little rubbery. Good flavours but need to improve.
Danielle Wilson
Really enjoyed lunch here. The dumpling filling was nice and the cucumber with garlic and chilli was great. Overall very salty and I’m quite full.
Stelly
Decided to drop by here for dinner on a Friday night with the family. Arrived at around 6pm and this place was already quite busy (seemed to be the busiest store along High St!)

We ordered a variety of dumplings and other small dishes. The main highlights would have to be the Shanghai Pan Fried Mini Buns (super tender and juicy meat and heaps of soup inside), the Red Bean Fried Pancake (a crispy and sweet delight) , and the Shanghai Stir-Fried Noodles (so much flavour and the sauce was delicious!). The Xiao Long Bao and the Steamed Pork & Sticky Rice Dim Sim were also not bad!

The dumplings here are probably some of the best I’ve had in Melbourne, and they come at such an affordable price too! I will definitely be coming back as a regular!
Ioy Joy
This is my local Chinese restaurante. I am used to go forrnightly. Its dumplings are excellent and cheap but be careful, they came always super hot! Big quantities of food and friendly staff. Totally recommended

Nai ho? You like ping ping dumpling ? Yes please. Dumplings were good here. Good flavours and cooked well. People should try this for themselves. Zaijan
Previously Urban Spoon
Quick, tasty and easy low-key dinner. Very busy around dinnertime. If you went to Camy Shanghai Dumpling House in Chinatown in your 20s, you'll appreciate this place in your 30s.
Lena Nguyen
Had great juicy steamed dumplings and big meals for really cheap!! service was good and food came out pretty quick. Ambiance in the store is not bad they have plenty of seats.
Hannah & Meilisa
Awesome dumplings for an awesome price. Loved the steamed pork dumplings which had lots of flavour. The chicken and prawn dumplings were less flavoursome. Unbeatable value overall
Caffiend
PING'S for juicy, cheap dumplings and noodles and stuff served with a smile. The lil parcels of pork et al are really filling because the pastry is more home-style rather than the fancy, delicate and thin dumpling pastry we expect from other dumpling houses but who cares coz i've got a separate dumpling stomach like others have a separate dessert stomach, y'know?
Kevy K
If a restaurant is reasonably busy, then you know it’s not going to be terrible. Especially if it’s full of locals.

Bookings advised. Not because you have to. But if you even ring 30 minutes before, they’ll put a reserved sign on your table.

It’s your unpretentious, Chinese (Shanghai) food. The waitstaff are young, mandarin speaking and will come to attention with eye contact or a wave. Otherwise they leave you alone.

Serving sizes are generous.

Our bowl of beef rice noodles were scrumptious. The stock, chicken, salty but simple with seasoning and perhaps MSG. Beef thrown in pink, cooking in the hot soup. Noodles were simple, round rice noodles that slurped to satisfaction with a generous serving of Chinese vegetables. Enough to share between three.

Dumplings, were ok. Not memorable. But tasty enough. The dumplings here are home made and taste as such. Not the most consistent with seasoning or thickness of the skins. Pork Peking dumplings were a very generous plate of thick dumpling skin, steamed with a pork, chive interior.

A little too salty. This isn’t one of those “boiled pork bone broth for 48 hours” type of places. It’s just simple, home cooked style Chinese cuisine you can have on a quick, easy cheap night out.

A solid 6/10

Me
This restaurant is your classic traditional dumpling place. Located on high street in Preston there’s nothing flashy inside in respect to decor but really friendly staff. And most importantly really tasty dumplings!

We started with the green vegetables with garlic sauce which were absolutely amazing! Tick tick!

We then ordered more dumplings than you can poke a stick at. I just love heaping that chili oil with the chili seeds all over the dumplings. It may cause some discomfort the next day but it’s totally worth it! The beef dumplings in chili oil soup were great as were the vegetable and the pork pan fried dumplings.

I will definitely be coming back.
Seby Cond
Great little Chinese spot in Preston, prices are very well thought and the dinner experience is what you would experience at any of the other competitors around the area, with careful consideration to the customer, service is lightning fast and make no mistake, the dumplings are hand made and high quality. My personal favorite is the vegetarian dumplings, fried rice and of course pumpkin cakes and steamed custard buns. Yummo
Just Your Average Foodie
Worth the buck if you're after some juicy dumplings in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. Like come on, $10 for 15 boiled pork dumplings or add 50c to get them pan fried? On top of that they taste absolutely delicious. Pan friend/boiled dumplings at a restaurant is a must when visiting! However, the steamed shanghai pork mini buns are pretty average, not that great so don't expect too much when ordering that. Also food doesn't take too long to come out.
Deniz
I tried the pan fried vegetarian dumplings and fried rice. I preferred the rice a lot more than the dumplings. The rice was really spicy and flavourful. The dumplings were nothing out of the ordinary. They were pretty doughy and the filling was bland and lacking flavour. The portions are very generous considering how low the prices are. It’s a nice and homey Chinese place. It was fairly crowded and noisy when I went there. Service is friendly but could be more attentive (but they’re serving a lot of people and doing a good job regardless).
Life=Food
Came here after church, it was very quiet when we walked in. But this place got filled within 30 minutes of our arrival. Lucky that we came in early. The portion was very generous. Staff were attentive as well. Affordable price! Will be back for sure.
Pancakes
Great, well priced dumplings and food. Highly recommend the "Chicken and Prawn Dumplings", "Vegetarian Dumplings" and the "Noodles with Pork Sauce"
Jellybeans
Simply great and delicious, some items aren't in good takeaway packaging and get a bit soggy though. The staff are friendly and it's busy yet they manage to get food to you on time
Ken Leung
Went to this dumpling place after food shopping. Didn't expect much. But they did surprise me a little with their pork pan pried dumpling crispy outside and juicy inside. Amazing well done ping I would go back again
Rohan Flack
I went here recently to grab some takeaway for dinner. Half way through ordering, the emergency services gods did their thing and we had to rush out the door.
The staff were really understanding, and when we called back an hour later to let them know we were returning and to place an additional order; our food was waiting for us on the counter when we arrived.
The pan-fried pork dumplings were excellent, juicy, and full of flavour. My other ‘go to’ at dumpling restaurants is generally a spring onion pancake, and this was no exception. Crispy, sweet, and just the way I like them.
What can I say, I’ll be going back for sure. Fantastic food at good prices, keep it up guys.
Bak Kwa
Very good dumplings and Shanghai fried noodle. My family loves this place. Quick service as well. Been regular for years. Never disappointed with their food. Must try if you in the area.
Sarah Flemmington
I have a go to dish here, their chilli oil dumplings are brilliant. The food is very authentic, so if you don't like chicken bones in your chicken etc, maybe don't order those dishes... the atmosphere is more of a busy food hall and when its cold, sitting by the door is a bit uncomfortable when the door opens. But I love this place :)
K K
They have delicious dumplings that are reasonably priced. Good for a cold winter day. Generous portions also. Convenient locationin High Street Preston.
Will be back again :)

Jane
Dumplings good not great. Ordered chili oil dumplings and ma po tofu. The dumplings weren't fantastic- just acceptable. Couldn't taste chili at all. Ma po tofu came out with heaps of tofu and a HUGE plate of rice. Staff very nice and always smiling. Gave me a takeaway container. For lunch time on market day they didn't have much trade. Says everything. The food is cheap and you get what you paid for comes to find.
PS: Wear several jumpers the place is freezing.
フイル
Dine in twice and their steam dumplings were very nice. And then take away experience was just so so - ordered pan fried dumplings and buns. Not as crispy and crunchy as they should be, the pastry were too thick.
Vic Liang
Was not good. The pork dumplings had the crunchiest cabbage chunks and very little meat. The Xiao long baos tasted watered down. And the noodles... Ours 鱼香肉丝面 was basically a full dish of bamboo shoots. Granted there were about 3 slices of bicarb-inflated pork bits, and 2 slices of capsicum, but I'm not impressed by how the chef is robbing all pandas of their food source with our order. Oh, also the noodles themselves came about half an hour after the toppings/bamboo slop.
Kateness
Love this place. Deeeelicious, fresh, homemade dumplings, the kind where you can see the ginger and herbs inside. Impossibly cheap. The atmosphere is nothing special, it's overly brightly lit with tacky decorations but it's great for what it is. Cheap, yummy, and a fun place to take a couple of bottles of wine and a bunch of mates.
Denise
Pings dumplings is definitely one of my favourites. The service is not the best but the taste of these dumplings are too good! I’m also very big on the dumpling sauce and pings is my favourite. If you love your dumplings I do recommend Pings
Thomas Argyropoulos
Love this place. Best dumplings in town for the best prices. Perfect for lunch outing with work mates. Would chose this any day over Rooster Bar.
Age'n'Tise
Amazing dumplings — so flavoursome. Friendly staff, fast service and well priced. Can’t go wrong with satisfying your dumpling 🥟 craving here!
Yumyumfoodyum
Cheap and tasty food which arrived quickly with no fuss service, don’t expect conversation and you won’t be disappointed. Went in with a friend when we were starving and ordered waaay too much food but I get to eat leftovers for lunch, WIN!

Ordered the pork fried dumplings which were flavoursome and juicy, the vegetarian pan fried dumplings which were SUPER flavoursome, there was some sneaky black fungus in there which elevated the texture of the filling and flavour beyond any other veg dumpling I have tried.

Also ordered a spring onion pancake which was yummo, the crispy chicken wings which were super crunchy but still juicy and the Shanghai fried noodles with pork which were oily and gorgeous, but I like my noodles a bit firmer in texture.

Our total came to less than $60 including 2 beers! Such value for money, I will definitely return.
April Clifford
The beef brisket was amazingly good. The Shanghai noodles were delicious. I can not put how good the dumplings were into words. We waited 15 minutes to get seats but it was worth it. It was really good service, better than a lot of places I have been to in the past.
Bobby
I had the steamed vegetarian dumplings and some fried vegetable noodles.

Not bad, definitely nothing special. A bit expensive for what you get. The decor needs a refresh and the place needs a bit of a clean. The servers barely speak English so it's difficult if you have questions about a menu item.

They charge a surcharge on c/card payments, which annoys me. Meh, won't go back.
The Official Food Hunters
Have only tried the pan fried pro dumplings from here and they are amazing! Wouldn’t try anything else since they are renowned for their dumplings. So juicy and flavorful (msg me up) but definitely my go to place for a quick dumpling fix
Fehraz Lateef
Had a plate of pan fried pork dumplings. Was greasier than I expected but tasty. Afterwards however my stomach swelled up / became bloated and uncomfortable which is very unusual for me. I will be listening to my stomach and won’t be back.
Anna Kate
yum. local dumpling kitchen, i always order the same thing (my girls are also obsessed!) always fast, always tasty. i have been to dine in once, service was okay, dumplings were awesome.
Oj_always_eating
Tried Pings for the first time last week after being told by several people how tasty it was.. and we LOVED IT! I am fussy with dumplings, and we ordered the pan fried pork dumplings and I loved them - couldn’t complain. Veggie fried rice was delish as was the Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce. My only feedback would be that it would be great if you could do half/half serves of the dumplings, as one serve is 15 dumplings and to get 2 flavours would be 30 dumplings - pushing it a bit for two people 😂! Will definitely be back ASAP!!
Greg Host
Dumplings, soups and starters are good but the total disdain for the customer by some of the disaffected young staff totally ruins the experience. If you hate your job and hate people, please work somewhere else. Throwing menus at customers without even a 'hello' or eye contact, dragging chairs noisily, making people wait while you use your phone and rolling eyes when people take too long to order is not good for business.
Josephine
You MUST TRY the Shanghai pan fried mini pork buns. You won't regret it! Don't be fooled by the word mini because it is nowhere near mini (check pics for reference). These are probably the best pan fried mini pork buns I have ever had. They're light and fluffy with a light sesame crusted bottom. I always have to order a serving whenever I visit Pings. Other dumplings are really good also that aren't drenched in oil. Everything is good value for money
Justin
We always love pings! Consistently good value for money, and always delicious. Make sure you get in early as this place always gets pretty busy!
Natasha Rinaldi
Quick service and fabulous dumplings. We had the boiled pork, pan fried beef and boiled vege. My friend also made me try the pumpkin cakes and I've never tasted anything quite like them - definitely belonged on the desert menu and you couldn't eat too many of them but i loved them. Will definitely be coming back!
David Food Leasing
DO: The dumplings duh, the pan Fried and steam pork ones are the best.

DON'T: Forget the special fried rice or Shanhainese noodle.

TIP: Popular with the students so you know it's good and cheap. Cash only.
Facebook User
By far the yummiest dumpling in Preston, friendly staff and owner. The food always comes out freshly cooked and delicious. Best to make a reservation as this place is always full house.
Mike C
Ping's has very nice dumplings on offer, the dry noodle dishes are also nice but I tend to stay away from mains and the noodle soups from here, there are better more flavourful options out there; but for dumplings pings is the clear winner for taste and value.
Thomas Halliday
If you are looking for staple Chinese in the North, you can't beat Pings in Preston. They have great vegan options including the vege dumplings, veg fried rice and veg fried noodles.
Nicklaus Schmidt
We we're sitting in bed craving some dumplings, and so i looked up what was in the area, and found pings. i thought to myself, i might try this.We order the vegetarian and pork dumplings and man they were tasty. They were large and flavoursome. best dumpling i have discovered in the northern suburbs, little compares.
KC
When we come to Preston, we normally go to our usual restaurant, but today we decided to try somewhere different. I ordered grazed pork belly on rice $11 and my partner- spiced chicken noodle soup. When my dish arrived, I couldn't help but to say"oh no...." It looked like a turd on rice. The pork actually tasted ok although it was a bit chewy. My partner's dish was looking good, but it was terribly bland. It was more like boiled chicken broth without anything else added. Today I came to a conclusion that every Chinese restaurant we have tried, their noodle soup sucks. We tried Tina's as well which is a few doors down from this restaurant and they weren't good. I just don't like Chinese noodle soup. I tried noodle kingdom as well and they are bad as well. It took me long time, but from now on I will only order noodle soup if they're Japanese or vietnamese restaurant!
Good Food, Good Mood
First heard about the Ping's in Clayton so was pretty stoked it opened in the North. Tried the pan fried chicken & prawn dumplings and dumpling in hot & sour soup (we picked pork). Glad to see it's a local favourite as we noticed a lot of people picking up takeaway. Easy to see why, dumplings were good value for money and weren't drenched in oils.
Miss Laura
Better than Clayton as no rocks were found in the dumplings. (Check other review if you don't get my reference) The waitresses kept looking at our food really closely and eventually asked what else we were waiting for. The table next to us got the wrong order and instead got the dumplings we ordered. Mistakes like this happen but instead of sending three different people to stare at our dumplings closely just ask what we are waiting for at the start. The Singapore noodles were good except they contained this weird sweet cured meat which was disgusting. Dumplings were great and a generous size. I also really like the spring onion pancake. Would come back but I'm not in a hurry to.
Sylvia's POV
We had dinner at Ping's on a Monday night.

It was relatively busy, yet service was still quite quick.

We ordered 4 dishes. 1x Dan-dan noodles, 1x seafood noodle soup, 1x rice cakes with pork and Chinese cabbage, & 1x Peking style dumplings.

Portion sizes were slightly small, but all reasonably priced.

Fiery Sensation
Well this my first time here on a recommendation. First impressions are average the specials blue tacked to the wall and Chinese waitresses giggling waiting for customers I was iffy of staying. We ordered friend rice, crispy chicken, pork noodle soup and Peking dumplings. Total cost $41.30 the meals were good especially the dumplings . The service was good. I'd go back.
Foodman
Hello friendPing seel dumpalings! I eat them! When I put dumpling in my mout, it like I in happy place.Oh, what great yummy taste for me!My suggest to you, please eat dumalungs at Ping! You will not regrettable. Good bye ok now!

I have been frequenting Pings pretty much since it opened.
My favorites are the pork, chicken & prawn and the beef dumplings. They are great fried or boiled.
I got take away this time but as always the dumplings were delicious and fresh. The skins are quite thin with generous fillings. This is my go to place for dumplings and I have recommended to friends who have all enjoyed them too.

Very reasonably priced but don't expect any customer service you pretty much get what you pay for...nice food.
"JT" Jeffrie Trika
UPDATE
Stick with their dumplings ...

Had their $9.80 Beef Brisket noodles, it wasn't as god as their dumplings. Missing those tender meats, broth was not tasty, too much salt and those noodles were overcooked.

Good value for money ... I shall go back for their dumplings. JT-DEC 2017
PREVIOUS
Can't go wrong with 15 pieces of pan-fried Pork dumplings for $10.50 .....

I'm sure no one is expecting Flower Drum kinda service and opulent set up.

Good value for money, just not everyday okay.
Trenise
Dumplings were great and didn't make me feel sick or bloated afterwards which seems to be quite common after eating at many cheap dumping places! Service was quick and it was BYO beer as well which was a bonus. Only downside was cash only.
TigerHuski11
Great food, good service more than fair size shares fresh good food the only place I go for dumplings or any other asian food, drive from heidelberg to preston to get dumplings... highly recommended!
Lauren Savolainen
Dumplings are amazing ! Tried the pan fried pork and will definitely be back
Don don noodles are tasty is well ......................................................

One of the best dumpling restaurants I went to in melbourne.
I have tried more than 15 dishes, any didn't disappointed me so far.
Reception lady is so kind too
Cassie Wong
This is the best pan-fried dumping I've ever had, crispy outside and juicy inside. The restaurateur is Shanghainese. Authentic Shanghai cuisine to cure my homesick... Recommend: Fried Beef Dumping (tastes a little sweeter than the pork one) and Fried Sliced Rice Cake.
KevinTheHungryFoodie
Pings dumpling kitchen is a place where you're able to afford cheap and authentic Chinese food, the food especially the dumplings are really cheap for what you pay for. For example there popular menu item would be 15 pork dumplings (pan fried) for $10. This menu item is also one of my favourites.

The quality isn't bad and they're obviously known for their dumplings, however they also provide you a wide variety of Chinese cuisine that includes noodle, rice, soup and dessert dishes.

As for the customer service, it is not a fancy restaurant, however the waiters and staff are usually nice. Don't expect first rate waiting here at this restaurant.

I highly suggest this place for those who want to experience Chinese cuisine without breaking a hole in your pocket. (Yumchas)
May Tan
A little oilier and a little saltier - though it sure does makes the food tastier. 5 stars for taste, taking away .5 due to heart attack inducing properties.. but we only live once. Customer service is adequate. Definitely one of my favourite places in Preston.
Miss E
You pay for what you get, it isn't anything fancy but the food is always hot and delicious and the service is speedy. Never been disappointed with their dumplings.

Ping's dumplings is a typical, cheap dumpling house, and a great option in the Northern suburbs when you have that dumpling craving. Dumplings and buns (both steamed and pan fried options) are the winners here. Other dishes are below average though, so I would stick to the restaurants namesake when here. Quick, cheap, no fuss. Great place for a quick bite.
Hello. Imnikki
Business is always bustling with people coming to get their fix for dumplings. Dumplings are meaty and juicy and should be anyone's go-to dish here. The dumplings in chilli oil, boiled signature dumplings and the pan-fried options are the clear winners here. The rest of the dishes are pretty sub-standard but are good options if you want a quick satisfying meal that does not break the bank. Service is pretty non-existent but that's not what we come here for anyway.

I love ping's dumplings. Grab a six pack of beers and a few friends, drop ten dollars on dumplings each and you're set. More food than you know what to do with.

Typical cheap Asian restaurant. Service is always bad but food is tasty and cheap. Highly recommend shanghai fried noodles and chicken+prawn dumplings. Do not recommend spring rolls or clear chicken soup. Oily and flavourless.

Been here 3 times and I keep coming back as it is my family's favourite! They have top quality dumplings at very reasonable prices. The portions of the dishes are huge so it's great for sharing.

Nothing too special about this place, everything was average but still not bad. Felt like the rice and noodles we ordered were slightly on the saltier side, everyone was so thirsty after our meal. The best thing about this place were the handmade dumplings which was really good, could never go wrong with dumplings :')

We have been eating here almost every Friday night as a family for over a year now. Thoroughly enjoying the food however two Fridays ago there was so much MSG in the food that it effected us all.
Don't know if they have a new cook or what but we are now reluctant to go back.
It's a pity because it is really hard to find a Asian restaurant in Preston that doesn't over do the MSG content.
Very disappointing.

Yummy yummy. This place is always busy and bustling and well worth the wait. Dumplings are always fresh and the best value for money. The only thing they could improve on is having eftpos facilities.

This place is no fuss, no frills, but delicious dumplings. The perfect dinner when you want something quick and fulfilling. The pork dumplings are my favourite!

Always fantastic! Love this place!! For a cheap and cheerful dumpling experience this place rocks. We love the boiled dumplings and the beef ones are a complete sensation. The veggie dishes are crunchy and flavoursome, beer is super cheap and service is fast. I'm a dumpling addict and am a bit fussy so this is our local when Hu Tong in the city is not an option. Don't know what that reviewer Ravi Raja is talking about, not that I could really understand his review - he must own one of the nearby restaurants and his nose is out of joint!
