Review Pho Hung - Preston

Edward Hore
Totally enjoyed the meal. Amazing that they were ready to serve at the time we went. Grateful that they had table service. They check your vaccine certificate at the door, shot you down and in no time once you have ordered the food is ready to eat. Staff are very friendly, easy going, know their regulars, and are good communicators. Be aware, they like cash, but do take card so don't panic. The meal was fantastic, filling and worth the price.

I went to Pho Hung Preston today have lunch with my family. It was very bad experience and I feel disappointed about they food and service. We order two different types of the spring rolls(total is 16 pieces ) they only give us 4 pieces of the lettuce. I ask the staff to get more. However he said the owner only allow give two pieces lettuce for one dishes of the spring rolls. I am the regular customer for this restaurant. I knew the standard, and I also knew that they increase the price on their menu. Moreover, one of the staff she gave us th wrong meal as we didn’t order it. I try to ask her to double confirm with the kitchen, but she suddenly get angry and didn’t want to help us. After today, I won’t go this restaurant anymore.

A humble place for pho. They serve a big bowl of pho here. There are some special pho as well - I ordered grilled pork pho and it was good. Phos were usually tasty. Prawn toasts were yum as well. They provide free hot tea.

We used to like dining at pho hung in Melbourne CBD, so we thought of giving a try of their branch in preston. The pho broth in here is okay, for us it lacks complexity and the meat portions are rather much smaller than some other pho places we have been to. Regardless it still tastes good but can be better.

Great food. Great service. I’ve been to this place at least 4 times within a couple of weeks since I first ate there. It is has been a pleasant experience every single time! Salted fish and chicken fried rice is a must try! Was recommended by the Roy the chef and absolutely did not disappoint!!

A very large bowl of Pho with beef, very tasty, restaurant that you must try in Melbourne Preston!

More expensive than the menu online and beef in black pepper sauce was mostly onion with chunks or beef rather than slices.
Beef chewy in the combination and no pork included 😔

This place has been in Preston forever and it’s a favourite haunt of many locals. I’ve been going to this restaurant since I was 10 years old. The food is cheap, varied and so comforting. There’re known for their “Pho” which is the name for the well known Vietnamese style soups. If you’re feeling unwell these soups are so restorative and healing. Try them and you’ll see what I mean. My other favourite menu item is the “Vietnamese Broken Rice” which is essentially a rice salad with a fried egg and some sweetly spiced pork. I don’t know what magic they put on the pork but it’s always so sweet and tender. If you’re feeling adventurous you must also try the Jackfruit smoothie which tastes similar to a mango smoothie or the “3 colour drink” which is made with coconut milk, red beans, ice and some sort of green chewy jelly for texture.

The food here is great. Pho is definitely one of the best I've had outside of St Albans. I make a trip here once a week and it has never disapointed.

Depending on the dish you order it was good. The service depends on how busy it is but generally it's okay. The pho bo and com tam (broken rice) were delicious and the salt and pepper squid was okay but had a strong lingering taste of msg. Wouldn't necessarily recommend this place.
Happy Little Pantry
The pho is always very comforting here. The restaurant is a little crowded though.

Rude staff, couldn’t get through saying “thank you “ before she walked away. Self serve tea, pho is $13.50 not $10 as advertised. Never returning. Was given dirty looks because I am “white” and my husband is Asian. Dirty tissues on the floor, and generally unclean.
Quinn Tran
The quality of food here is alright, nothing really exceptional. The broth is quite nice but just feel like it’s missing something. Big portion tho, lots of meat and noodles and it’s cheap. The service here is quite nice, not like professional way but it feels really warm n welcomed.
BD Food Adventures
The best pho we’ve found in the Northside, hence why we’re regulars. The portions are great and they are fairly generous with the meat, noodles and toppings. Downsides are that there is a card minimum of $25 and that takeaway containers cost 50c, which can be inconvenient at times

An oldie but definitely a goodie. No frills just amazing vietnamese food, we usually have the pho and it never disappoints. Will need to return to try their dishes as they look amazing

Zomato tells me to be polite and friendly which ironically enough was the complete opposite of how the staff treated their customers.

Been a returning customer for a while but I've just about had enough with this trash customer service - rude mutterings under their breath about customers, staff arguing to each other about wrong orders and so soo much attitude.

I understand the stress of working in a busy restaurant but being sympathetic and apologetic about my 1 bowl of pho coming out in 40 minutes and how the spring rolls never came, would have been nice, GREAT even.

Idk why I'm wasting my time writing a review, seeing as how they probably don't even read these/care or else they would have cleaned their act up a long time ago. If you couldn't care less about how you're treated and just want Viet food, pop by I guess but let me know if they smile at you :)))))

Despicable customer service - long time customer who has put up with their terrible service for too long . I strongly suggest you look else where for your Vietnamese food fix
Kat
Quick delicious pho fix. Nothing fancy, expect to serve your own tea, with very brisk service. Flavors in the coleslaw were yum, it was cold out of the fridge, but cant complain about the prices. Also has the vegetarian pho, lighter broth but generous w the vegies! Will return.

It's a local favourite because it was one of the first dedicated pho restaurants that opened many moons ago. I think people still go out of habit but I can appreciate that there are more options for Vietnamese cuisine in Preston.

Service was slow for us on a Wednesday night even though it wasn't busy. Three floor staff were more focused on topping up the satay chilli jars and drying cutlery then to take our order. We had to try desperately to make eye contact and the elderly lady and man avoided looking at us lol. Finally a younger waiter came by after they told him to take our order and the food came out fairly quickly.

The pho broth has flavour but lacks depth from the bones, star anise and cloves. It tasted diluted and perhaps topped up with salt (?). We now come here for their salt and pepper calamari as honestly, still the best one in Melbourne.

It's a no frills restaurant and if you know what you want, they will deliver it quickly but don't expect smiles.
Collette Eva Arnheim
Food and servings were nice, not as nice as some of the other vietnamese places. However they have a trolley in which they put all the dirty dishes and left over food on and parked it right in front of our table so we couldn’t get out or receive our food. No one wants to look at dirty scraps the whole meal!

I used to come here every week until I was put on a diet the broth makes you feel warm and toasty like a cinnamon bun don’t expect good service but the love is expressed all in the food so A PLUS FOR THAT. AM I RIGHT PEOPLE
Andrei Ungureanu
Extremely poor customer service and the staff and the owner are extremely rude, impossible to deal with. The worst food I’ve ever had in a Vietnamese restaurant, I wouldn’t go back there not even if my life depended on that. Not recommended, gross food, filthy place, rude staff.
When I complained to the owner she said “don’t come again”. Hell NOOO
Danielle Wilson
This place was just what I wanted. fast, cheap, yum. I had egg noodle soup with wontons for $11. Was delicious. Very hot. The chillis on the side were also very hot, I actually had to poick them back out of my soup haha. Really enjoyed it.
Forox924
Basic pho, nothing special but if you really want pho then it will do. I went with another person and we ordered chicken pho.

Service 2
Busy and they rush you, once you finish they tell you to go to the counter to pay, this is understandable i guess as they have a cash goal to reach.

Environment 2
Was not very clean and the chairs are back to back so they can get the maximum capacity.

Flavour 2
I was disappointed as the soup was very weak and the noodles very hard and starchy.

Value for money 2
I know cheaper or same price pho places that have much better flavours.

I will not be returning sorry, too many of their competitors offer cheaper and nicer food.
Derek
Love this place, has been a local favourite. Ordered the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy noodle soup) and it was just the right amount of spiciness, not too hot whilst still having a little punch. Portion size is good too and the restaurant is most of the time busy.
Darcy Storm
This place used to be a quick easy decision for tasty well priced fare.....sadly old faithful has been well over taken for flavour and price by the surrounding restaurants
Steven Yuniansyah Suyanto
Taste on point. Place is crowded and the service is pretty good. I would like to suggest that the owner put more light so the restaurant looks better. Moreover, price is pretty affordable.

A small place with traditional pho. Very good and probably the best pho and BBH alone high street in Preston. Highly recommended. Ambience could be better but no doubt about the food taste
Steven Micallef
Not traditional, cant taste the five spice and very bad hygiene , yukky , bland , and service is bad , alot of people dont know real pho , its just a fad that pho hung are taking advantage of.
Janet @ Perth
Love their pho, very authentic. Also tried their drop noodle soup with crab which is amazing, very rich crab flavour. We also tried the fried calamari & roasted quail which are super delicious.
The City Lane
Pho Hung is located on a little sliver of High Street in Preston, just around the corner from Preston Market, that’s become somewhat of a hub for Vietnamese restaurants. There’s a lot of competition in this area, but Pho Hung is considered by many to be the best of the bunch, and for good reason.

Best Pho in Melbourne! Been here multiple times and I'm never disappointed, prices are amazing for what you get! Absolute go to whenever I'm in the area.
Hanh Hong Le
I'm here probably almost every month, sometimes a couples of times in a week. The food is always consistently yummy and fresh. My favourite dishes are the bun bo hue, vermicelli with lemon grass beef and the salt and pepper calamari! I will be your customer forever! thanks for the great food. Service though is ok, but you know you're here for food not for the hustle and bustle.
Doodiethefoodieblogger
some of the best pho I've had and definitely the best in the north. there are a few but this tops them all. great fine in preston! a must if you're in the area
Eating.Dancing.Dreaming
I have been a loyal customer, have been going to pho hung for over 10 years. Serving used to be large, now is still acceptable. I like their pho. You don't compare them to Vietnamese food you get from Footscray, Richmond or Springvale. But this is defintely the best pho in Preston.
Willtravelforfood17
Love the pho with rare beef and beef balls here. The pho soup has depth and complexity and the beef is tender. The chilli oil has fantastic flavour and the herbs are plenty. Delicious food at a great price.
Vivian
One of the busiest Vietnamese places in Preston and I can see why . The pho here is one of the better ones in Melbourne with a clear and tasty broth with a lot of meat and condiments. The spring rolls were abit underwhelming and also the rice paper rolls which did not have enough filling. Would only come back if I only wanted pho
Sylvia Da Silva
Nice local place for a quick dinner, foods just average not so impressed. We Ordered special beef Pho and beef on sizzling plate . The pho broth quite clean and tasty however the sizzling beef with Mongolian sauce is under seasoning and quite oily. Service was alright, staffs should smile abit more.
Mish 🍔❤️
Service was mediocre. Main meals are decently priced. I had the beef pho, prawn spring rolls and the fried wontons. I’d say the worst dish I had was the fried wontons, it was severely lacking meat. All other meals tasted great. The venue was quite loud and the speakers for the music in the restaurant kept playing up. Rated 3.5 out if 5

I decided to give this place another chance, the food was terrible. I only took a few bites after not eating most of that day. I would not return here
Ari.H
Really nice, lively ambience, great service, and darn good pho. I get the veggie pho with beef broth and it was full of flavour and they were generous with the amount of veg. Definitely going back. Might even frequent this place over Victoria Street.

This place is a busy tasty mainstay of Preston. Vietnamese classics done so well as well as Chinese food that would make any Australian feel at home. I love the pho and the rice noodle salad. The ice coffee is spot on. You can't go wrong going here. It's cheap and really great.

Can’t go past this local gem in preston! Have been going here for over 10 years and the quality has remained consistent. Service is not 100% but what can you expect for the price you pay! Simple and delicious pho.. best place to come to for a quick pho fix
Our Foodie Finds
Needing a Pho fix and because we were around the Preston area, wanted to know where we could go and naturally Zomato showed us the way. An order of our usual special beef pho which has all the goodies included $10.0 and a regular beef and chicken $10.0 both medium as it's more than plenty along with a couple of coconut drinks to wash it down. We can't forget the prawn spring rolls $9.0 too to complete the Vietnamese experience. Fast service, clean and delicious food here at Pho Hung in Preston. The decor wasnt too bad and wasnt totally stuck in the early 2000's but could do with an update although. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!

Well having rather daftly reviewed this place mistakenly (I had meant to review Pho Huong Viet) I visited here on June 26 due to said other place being closed temporarily. Anyhoo twas my first visit to Pho Hung and it certainly won’t be the last. This is by a long chalk now my favourite pho restaurant in Melbourne. The ingredients are a cut above and the pho, as any good pho should be, was something far greater than the sum of its parts.
Embarrassment arrived with the bill however when I was told cash was preferred. To which end please change your listing to reflect as such to save the blushes of future first time visitors. :)
Good Food, Good Mood
This used to be a family favourite but both staff and food quality have dropped significantly over the years. Staff don’t look or act happy to be there and cleanliness doesn’t seem to be apparent anymore.

Ordered takeaway pho and there was more meat than bean shoots. Definitely would’ve complained if I was in store. The banh canh tasted like MSG central, I generally like sipping the broth but not on this occasion. Plenty of other good places in Preston to try.
Hello. Imnikki
Pho Hung was packed on a Sunday night, and not only that, we were unlucky enough to order right after a table of around 8 did. The Bun Bo Hue arrived about 25 minutes later, and the beef pho shortly after, but the Bun Rieu took way much longer. It didn't help that the staff only came to tell us that they were out of rice noodle for the Bun Rieu when they brought out the pho, and asked us what replacement noodles we would like. Right away we knew that we were in for a long wait as that meant that they haven't started on the Bun Rieu.

Other than the above hiccup, we were quite impressed with the service. We were first seated at a table at the entrance, and the waiter was nice enough to let us know of an empty table further back without us asking for it.

For the most part, the food was decent. The noodles all were cooked to a wonderful consistency - firm yet slightly soft and chewy.

The broth are what set the 3 dishes apart. The Bun Bo Hue was rather salty, but undeniably full-flavoured. My friend commented that the beef pho was bland, and I half agree with her. It was lacking a savoury flavour and leaned heavily towards the sweet spectrum.

The best of the bunch was the Bun Rieu. The broth was rich, tangy and exude the sweetness of the crab. Good things do come to those who wait.

Good pho in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, always busy, be prepared to wait for a table. However, had the manager tell me, "the last time you came your card didn't go through," I said "excuse me?".. quite confused as I didn't know what she was referring to, she proceeded to tell me my paypass didn't go through last time, (she did not take my payment the time she was referring to) I was like, well then your employee should've made sure that the transaction went through, they would've given me the okay, I wouldn't just walk away, what do you want me to do? Pay for it again ? She said I'm just telling you. I was like what... I didn't appreciate that approach whatsoever.
Bluecat
Not the happiest looking bunch. We took up two tables of 8 and it was a cold day so we went thru the tea (which was half empty to start with). I had to get up and check the tea flask on other tables and they were as empty. After going thru 4 empty flasks.....I gave up as the other tables were occupied. How hard is it to refill the tea flask? The broken rice was average in taste and serving portion can be bigger. Very very stingy with the sauce too! This outlet is not doing their other outlets justice. Disappointed!

Good Pho and noodles. Good flavor with the broth and the beef wasn't tough.
Haven't tried the stir fried mains though. Wife liked the prawn coleslaw salad. "My Tho" across the road would give them a run for their money. Very close in terms of quality.

Came here at 8pm on a Monday night, and there was still a small crowd at the restaurant surprisingly. We were so hungry we ordered a bunch of food and gobbled them down the moment they arrived. We didn’t have to wait for long at all.
Classic beef pho was delicious with a broth that was full of spice and flavours. Homemade prawn spring rolls were small but packed with the right tastes that paired well with the sauces. My father and brother ordered pork rib broken rice and pork rice vermicelli. I didn’t try them but they demolished them both within minutes.
And DAMN, I just had the BEST tom yum soup in town!!! Luckily we ordered the big family size to share, and we were left sweating and downing tea after a few sips. It was very spicy so order with care, but they were so good and addicting we went back for more.

This place is clean, tidy and the staff were efficient and friendly. For what you pay, this place should be the top of your list when you don’t feel like cooking!!
Simon Lord
Cheap, cheerful, and fresh. The beef in the pho was good quality, and the soup base delicious. Prompt service. Close to Preston Market also.

Went there after reading all the positive reviews...but sorry to say was disappointed...broth was ok ....but I asked the waiter “in the blue shirt” a question....he just walked on me...totally ignored me then he did that to another customer ...restaurant is a mix of customer service and taste...but didn’t get any ...

Fast and reasonably friendly service. Mains are well priced but some of the entrees were pricey. With a group of 7, I would have expected some plates would be given to us to share the entrees. I had the pho, which I found bland and with very little meat. The soup was also a little too oily for my liking. A disappointment personally as I compared it to where I would normally eat pho - Pho Hung Vuong in Springvale. I have yet to find somewhere as good as Springvale. I’ll happily travel the hour again before I find anything out in the north-east suburbs.

Nice convenient pho place locally in Preston without having to travel far. Customer service is adequate and quick service. Affordable prices. Will recommend
Charlie And Ko Reviews
This typical Vietnamese restaurant does the job really well. Very accommodating no matter what size your group is, they will always find a table for you! The spring rolls and satay sticks are delicious entrees, the Pho is definitely the icing on the cake. You can absolutely tell how loved this place is by the amount of people always dining here. The only reason I didn't give this place a 5 is the MSG overload in the food. If you're intolerant to MSG be mindful.
Girl From The Burbs
I’ve been coming here for a number of years, it’s been my go-to for Pho and Vietnamese dishes.

Tonight’s dish however was one of the worst meals I’ve eaten, the noodles were as bland as a packet of 2 minute noodles and the pork was as tough as my shoe. When I mentioned I wasn’t happy with the dish (of which I had ordered several times before) to the waitress, the dish was taken from me without a word.

When I went up to pay, the dish was presented to me, to which I explained the pork was dry and tough and the noodles lacked any flavouring. It was then picked apart in front of me with comments of ‘it’s not tough’.

I refused to pay for the dish on the basis that it was taken from me the moment I mentioned it, I’d hardly eaten it and worse, that they tried to argued against my opinion.

I won’t be back, I’ve put up with their rude service long enough.

Mark D'Orazio
Ordered a pho, Bean shoots were not fresh. What I expect from Viet food is fresh herbs and veg! When I questioned the waiter he said that they were cooked!
Jason Chu
Would normally rate their pho a 4/5, but my last visit has dropped this place by far. Ordered their rare beef pho, which a staple and favourite of many. I have to say that their broth is one of the top ones i’ve had. Sadly thats where the positive ends. When you order pho you are given bean shoots, lemon, chilli and basil. They told me that they ran out of bean shoots, which id say is ok, given they may have been busy or ran out of stock. however the customer behind me was given bean shoots, poor customer service in my opinion.

Great potential, but low service.
Overall 2.5/5

EDIT:
Given this has been my go to pho place in the past couple years, i decided to give this place another go. Went in for lunch during the week, where it generally busy. I’d say the restaurant was 3/4 full. Went for my usual rare beef pho (where bean shoots were supplied..thank god!), also added a 3 colour drink to go with. Service was unusually slow, with my meal taking over 30mins to arrive.

Upon tryin it, the broth tasted a lot more diluted than usual, which was dissapointing as that is the reason everyone gets pho?! In addition, my 3 colour drink never arrived, even when we asked a waiter who said ‘ok i check’ and never came back to tell us anything. My friend’s order also got mixed up with the table behind us, where the waiter was trying to convince us that it was our order, only for the disgruntled customer behind to tell her it was theirs. I must say this place has fallen largely due to its service. You’ve lost a long time customer. Back to footscray and springvale i go.
Overall 2/5 ☹️
Bec C
Beautiful flavoursome pho, i had the crispy chicken and adored it. Absolutely massive menu in this place which i look forward to working my way through!
Fehraz Lateef
Had the egg noodle and dumpling soup with barbecue pork. Noodles and dumplings were enjoyable but barbecue pork was extremely dry and tough, not the way they're meant to be at all. Staff don't smile or check on you to follow up, any interaction with staff felt like a cold transaction. No effort was made to remedy the stale pork. If you must have Vietnamese in Preston this is an okay place, but if there is a problem with your meal these guys aren't going to do anything to fix it. If customer service matters to you then I would look else where.
Cynthia Giang
Pretty delicious pho, with those pocket friendly prices that will leave your tummy thanking you. The balance between that sweetness, cleanness and homeliness, it's a feel good kind of food. Add together the basil and chilli for a freshening. Can't compare to Springvale though I feel, although the atmosphere is somewhat the same.
Steven Gu
Pho Hung. Best Vietnamese beef noodle restaurant in Preston area. Like the special beef noodle. So good. Highly recommended to have a try. Also the iced coffee.
Jimmy Chew Food
No idea if this place is related to the numerous other restaurants in Melbourne bearing the same name. Out of the several Vietnamese places in central Preston, Pho Hung had the highest rating, so it was my first point of call when I was craving for bun bo hue. Sadly, it was pretty poor. The meat was a bit less than generous, but the noodles in particular were lacking in amount. The broth was quite bland--like pho broth with some chili oil added. Very disappointing and I left not feeling satisfied.
I came back to try the pho, as this is what pho hung is supposed to be famous for. I was much happier this time around. I ordered the sliced beef and beef brisket option, and the amount of meat was generous, and the noodles came in an acceptable amount. The only things that needed improvement were that the broth needed more depth and there was little pickled onion added. It was still a hearty meal that hit the spot
North East Vic Foodie
I love this place and have been frequenting it for over 10 years. Whilst I no longer live in Melbourne anymore, practically every time I go to Melbourne, I end up here! The best pho, salt and pepper calamari, fried rice, spring rolls, Vietnamese coleslaw, sang Choi bow, omelettes, you name it! Service is friendly, attentive and fast!
Jude D'Souza
Pho Hung seems like a very quick and traditional pho place, but delivers on quality. Friendly staff and has an authentic run of the mill Vietnamese decor. The food is tasty and what you'd expect when you eat Vietnamese. Great little joint to visit if you enjoy pho or Vietnamese cuisine.
Mr MM Smith
Loses out on 5 because they make you go to the ATM if it's less than $25, but you'll only know it's a $25 limit when you go to pay. Otherwise, best beef Pho in Melbourne, perfect.
Joe Cool
Friendly greeting upon entry and directed to take away counter. Order taken prompty and collected in 15min. Great so far. Take it home. No spills in the car. What... containers sealed properly. Amazing. Well, all food tasted fresh and delicious to the pallet. Ordered combination fried noodles, beef and black bean & chicken and vegetables. Plenty of ingredients of all types. Beef cut thin and juicy to eat. Chicked correctly cooked. Vegetables aplenty and various. No bad reviews here. Well done. Will definately be back... this time to eat in with the family.
Peter Evans
The pho is very good here, it's usually busy but you always get a table. Food comes quite quickly.
The secret to good pho I think is the stock which is really good and fresh ingredients. Very reasonable price.
Tina Tran
I have been going to this place since I was little. It is an alright local place when you're in the mood for Vietnamese and can't be bothered travelling to Richmond or Footscray haha.

They can pull off off some Viet dishes such as pho and bun bo hue. The bun bo hue especially, I'm not mind blown but satisfied every time I get it.

The service needs a bit more organisation, it really stresses me out sometimes watching the staff run around frantically 😖

But hey can't complain when it's super local and cheap!
KateC
The pho is always great! Fresh ingredients and amazing flavours. Spring rolls, wanton soup, Vietnamese coleslaw, broken rice, etc, all delicious. High hairs for kids. Standard Vietnamese restaurant fit out with mirrored walls and green everything! Service can be a bit hit and miss, but the price is right and the food makes up for that.

We tend to go back to this place again and again specially for their pho.
In winters its the perfect thing to warm you up and fill your belly. This place is mostly busy during the evenings but you would not end up waiting for long. I have tried many things here, but the must recimmended is the pho- grilled chicken soup and wonton soup are the ones we usually go for. Along with some entree mostly spring rolls or rice paper rolls.
The food does not take very long to reach your table and in which time you can enjoy the hot tea placed on each table. The prices are reasonable and portions are quite generous.

We came here for dinner on a cold winter night after craving for a warm bowl of pho. The food were delicious although our entree spring rolls were not served until we reminded them after finishing our noodles. Can't expect any good customer service as their staff seem to lack training (if any!) in this aspect. We asked for a tax invoice, and rudely got told that the customer copy of the credit card payment receipt is the same thing! The restaurant doesn't have the most comfortable seating with sticky tables and food scraps on their chairs. But for their cheap prices and good food what more could you expect? Lastly, I didn't feel thirsty after eating their pho!
Grace Liu
Super nice pho, their food just make u get addicted to them!
I basically would go there once a week!
I like their rice 🍚 with chicken so much!

There are a few Vietnamese restaurants in this area and this is one of the best ones. The food is excellent, fresh and good size servings. Staff are friendly and the service was great. If you want romantic ambience then probably not the place to go. but for good Vietnamese food this is certainly worth a visit. I ate here on a Tuesday night and had to wait for a free table. you will be seated with others in the same table if it is busy. If you are up for meeting new people then this is great. I have no problem with shoring food with strangers. I will be going back to this place. great value for money $50 for two people with entrees.
David Smith
Worthless place. Horrible dancing tables and

Filthy ambiance and do not clean the table on time.

Rates not charged according to the menu ,whatever added in the bill. They do not have a professional bill template..
Always a confusion... You cannot pay for the dish before sitting in a table ,when they have a rush..

Owners talk about their rules and advice customers very sarcastic...

Cheap oil used and not authentic...

Crowd management and communication problem.

Except PHO most of the dishes are crap in this place.

Highly Avoidable..

if you don't know what's for your early breakfast then Pho is the best option. For $10 you can get a medium bowl of Pho which is pretty full for me
Urban Chef
I'm going to say a few words here;
Fresh produce, lotta flavours, great service and quick meal times makes this place one of my favourite places to eat in Melbourne!!!
Hint: Get in early and avoid the queues but be sure to check out the beef Pho 🍲!

Food is delicious. Wait staff are extremely friendly and polite. Service is great.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys vietnamese food

FOOD TRIP
Pho Hung is another chain store serving up some great Vietnamese food. The food here is good and service is fast. Perfect for when those noodle cravings hit!. Four Colour Drink $3.50. Same price as the three colour drink, but I figured you get an extra colour = better value right? Nope, the red beans were hard and the green jellies were of the thin variety. Would recommend the usual next time. 6.5/10

When I go to Preston I make a point of going to Pho Hung for their Bun Rieu. Look I am not sure if it's authentic but it does have a good dose of innards for those uninitiated! I love the tomatoey soup and the bits and pieces that is in the bun rieu.

We ordered the grilled pork with bundles of vermicelli to share as well and that was sensational.

Restaurant: Cleans restaurant with plenty of tables to choose from.

Food: plenty of variety to choose from and he food has always been great the three time see have been there.

Staff/Service: the majority of staff are fantastic and helpful with nothing too much trouble. One staff member is not very kid friendly on two of the times we have been there

Price: well priced and the two of us with three kids we always walk our full and have paid a reasonable amount.

The pho was some of the best in the area. Filled with flavor. Service was also very good. Ordered a side of spring rolls as well which were not the best. But the place clearly specializes in pho and soups.
Not satisfied with the profession and attitude of some staff here. I could say the waiter and cashier
Staff are lack of basic knowledge in serving customers.
Cashier should be trained to ask guests whether or not they require bills or invoices ( it is obvious without question), and the most important thing you forget is giving thanks after payment.

Moving from Abbotsford to Preston we were so sad to no longer have our all time fav pho place, I love Pho 264 around the corner. We were so happy to discover that Pho Hung in Preston makes a great bowl, with delicious broth and fast service! 👌🏼
Sylvia's POV
Located on busy High Street, Preston amongst the string of scrumptious food establishments, Pho Hung have been serving a substantial bowl of Pho for years now.
Tonight we arrived around 8.45 PM (on a Thursday night) with the restaurant filled with a good handful of customers and still plenty of empty tables. We were given a nice large jug of icy water upon request while waiting for our food.
The service seemed slow and the food took longer than expected for a relatively quiet time of the night.
Nevertheless, the Pho was satisfactory.

We've been living in Coburg for over a year and I have no idea why we haven't explored Preston more. A fine example of Pho here only 8 mins from home, coming back soon!

Nothing special, with many dishes below average. The beef salad consists of julienned cucumber and carrot and limp rags of colourless, tasteless beef, with everything dripping with a thin, sweet dressing. The woman in charge of the dining room seems unable to smile and after asking for a glass of water four times I just gave up.

burnt sesame prawn toast tough beef and had to ask 5 times for water and 2 cans of coke.Chicken slimey seafood awesome. Poor service all round too rushed trying to sqeeze too many in at one time.

"What do you mean? Of course we are, we are open every day darling!" - said the lady in the phone when we called to check if they were open a few days in to the new year. That sure put a smile on my face.
Attentive service, meals served quick, great value for money, and of course the food is great! Hard to fault Pho Hung. They seem to have figured out a good formula for business that obviously works.

Great tasting food and lovely people ! Ordered take away and wasn't a long wait. Their little son (around 3) keeps you entertained while you wait. Happy times x

One of the most popular Vietnamese restaurants on High Street always bursting from the seams and at times lining up outside for a seat.

Ordered take away and went in to pick up traditional broken rice the pork was tender and had the delicious lemon grass flavour and the Rice Vermicelli with spring roles (a favourite of mine) yumm. For two very generous servings for $20 this was bargain.

Hit and miss really. Been here a few times and the pho is usually very good or straight up bad.
Today was bad. Overcooked noodles, just warmed through broth, quite oily and bland.
Herbs etc were sad and definitely not the freshest, the chillies had no kick them at all.
The beef wrapped vine leaves were also missing that big ginger & garlic punch they normally have.
The restaurant itself needs a bloody good clean from top to bottom, today everything was much dirtier and it felt more unhygienic than usual.
I'm sticking to my favourite Vietnamese restaurants on Victoria Street for my pho from now on!

If you want good Vietnamese food, this is the place to get it.
Usually quite busy so if you can deal with waiting and getting your orders ignored by rude staff, not a bad place.
Want a good true bowl of pho? Thus is the place! Its not fancy or anything so don't expect too much but theres plenty of table and the service is pronto! Not to mention a bowl of pho only cost about $10-15!! (Med or large). The medium in my eyes is huggeee! Lols... If you want everything order the dac biet - special with beef balls as extra. This includes brisket, rare beef, tendons.. Mmm.. Add some salad, sauce and squeeze of lime and off you go!

Absolutely disgusting. Biggest OH&S HAZARD. Hallway is slippery and oily. Trolleys blocking access so if a fire were to happen customers would have no way exiting from the back. Min eftpos now $30 so had to go bank in pouring rain to take money out. Then get back in had to wait another 10 mins to pay at counter. Never going back again. Dirty, grimey.and disgusting all over the whole place. Soup may taste nice but the place is filthy. Council and health department definately need to see for themselves.

A traditional Vietnamese restaurant, been coming here for years. Food is nice, and served quickly.
I always have Rare Beef & Brisket Pho, and Prawn Spring Rolls. Crispy Calamari and Broken Rice are delicious too.
Sometimes the rice noodles are a bit soft, but it's still the best pho place in north suburbs.

I know the pho was one of the best in the shop. But how often can you find a menu with more than 300 items in a restaurant?

We had dishes on the chef suggestion, roast duck with plum sauce and pipi with xo sauce.

The duck was nice. It was meaty but not fat at all.

We were not impressed with the pipi, which was full of sand and tasted not fresh. At one point, i regretted i ate it as i worried i would get stomachache next day.

I think the worst thing was the rice as you know it was a cheap place for cheap eat. We were not served with Thai jasmine rice that we are so accustomed to.

This is still an amazing place. I just blamed myself ordering the wrong food instead of vietnamese dishes.

This is my go to pho place.
A little salty but very yummy and it's super cheap. Generous in size, one pho is enough for my son and I to share for $10.50.
UPDATE 11/04/2017
Pho Beef & Tripe, definitely tasty full of MSG? .... good or bad .... the place still full of patrons.

Hard to go anywhere else ....

It has changed its name from the Pho Dzung group while keeping its logo, please correct if I'm wrong.

The soup broth is just right, not sweet, just right, fresh, tantalizingly delicious, then just add your Lemon, Thai Basil and Bean shoots, maybe a bit of Pepper and Fish sauce too .... For extra sweat, fresh cut chilies, yeah.

Never a bad Pho there, not sure about the 199 other things in the Menu.

Came into the shop at 9:30pm. Ran out of pho noodles and beef even though they're a pho shop. I guess the pho is bomb for this to happen. Asked the little boi at the register to lick my left nut. Called it a night and ordered chicken pho.

It's always very busy but the staff are very efficient and excellent at clearing tables quickly and getting your order and food out. The Pho is always amazing and the sizzling Mongolian beef is delicious.

The beef pho here is amazing!!! It's flavoursome and does not contain msg. The servings are gigantic, even for a medium bowl, so go there with a hungry tummy! The service is decent, but not the best.
