Review Chew Burger - Preston

Nadine Y.
Giving it 5 stars for the French fries alone! Very addictive. The burgers were good too!

Good fresh burger. I had ordered here to eat at a bar nearby. The meat patty had a great grilled flavour however to me the quality of the meat could be improved slightly. The chicken burger we had was the standout. Good flavour. A choice of bun would also add to the experience. Overall I would go back and happy to have again if in the area.

Chew Burgers.. hmm, where do I start? Chew Burgers appears to be a great Burger Place and sounds good when readingthe menu but when I arrived to pick up my Burger and pay for it I was a little surprised when I was told my Burger is $19... I ordered a Plenty Burger which costs $17 I asked if I could have it without Lettuce or Tomato and with extra Pickles, There was only five slices of Pickle on my Burger so with the extra Pickles being $2 it would appear I paid $1 for each extra slice of Pickle? I'm sure if I looked on the menu properly it would say the price of extras but I didn't and nothing was said over the phone about it either, the vibe when I walked in was uninviting and a tad depressing, I was the only customer in Chew Burgers at the time and didn't even get a hello.. I won't be going back to Chew Burgers as first impressions last a lifetime, I was severely disappointed and underwhelmed by the over priced over cooked dry Burger, I have to say as a first and last time customer I felt very unappreciated and treated with zero customer service, as I said earlier in my review there was no Hello when my food was handed to me there was no thank you, considering I just paid $19 for a Hamburger I would say the overall experience was absolutely terrible! Unfortunately I don't Recommend Chew Burger to anybody at all... I hope things change at Chew Burgers as they have a lot of potential to be a great Burger Restaurant, I think the main issue is management and there lack customer relations, obviously there are other issues but you get the picture.

A hidden delight in Preston. Honestly the best burger I have had in years. The burger was not greasy and the bun was perfection! The chips had a perfect balance with the chicken salt a hidden gem that needs to be known.

Most delicious burgers! I always get the cammando burger and onion rings. Every time it's so delicious can't reccomend highly enough 👍👍👍
Lazaros Minas
Highly recommended! Ordered the cheeseburger with a side of onion rings that tasted absolutely amazing! The beef was tender and juicy with a slight pink middle! DELICIOUS!
Martin
I had the Chew Burger and onion rings, with a Hawkers Pale Ale. Tasted good and our table was served promptly. I’d eat here again.
Chris Stantis
Some of the best burgers I've had in a long time, with some of the best prices in Melbourne! The veggie options are flavorful (veg patch photo posted here) and the onion rings are fantastic.

What happened Chew? You had a good thing going! Now the patties are cooked to a crisp, nothing tastes fresh and the flavour is lacking. Couldn't eat our burgers, most went straight in the bin and we made two-minute noodles instead - that's not good when you've spent $40 on dinner. Parmesan chips were the only redeeming feature.

Thankyou for making a low FODMAP burger that tastes like real food! Tonights burger was the yummiest meal I have eaten since having to change to a low FODMAP diet. After 6 weeks of not being able to find a burger that didn't taste like cardboard it was safe to say my tastebuds were slightly in awe of what had been made! The staff member who took my order answered my questions really well and was so patient when I asked to remove most items from my burger. She even read it back to me to make sure it was right! I will most certainly be back! Where do the gluten free buns come from? They are amazing!!!!!

Best tasting burgers in town , my favourite is the Plenty, double patty wagyu beef! also the sweet potato fries with shredded bacon is a must 👍

We walked in and weren't greeted. When ordering there was no customer service that is expected when ordering such as "what would you like to order today?" Or a "hello" We then waited 30 minutes before we had to approach the counter to ask how long it will be? Keep in mind we were the only people left in the shop... waiting. We ended up having to wait 40mins before we got our order. Firstly, it was cold... how is this possible when it's just made... ? The meat had more red meat rather cooked meat. The simple requests of no tomato couldn't be met, and the wrong flavour drinks were handed over. I expect this sort of service from peak hour McDonalds drive through but not a burger shop that only had a few customers in the store.

Used to be good and had so much potential... Well. Plenty of other burger places that would shit this place into oblivion. Sorry for the harsh words though so true. Your quality has been flushed down the toilet and your service also lets you down. Minus 5 stars...

For just a small non franchise takeaway restaurant I was surprised at the overpriced burgers, $15 for just a chicken burger in a basket is expensive to pay especially being that one doesn't get a proper customer service dining. The bun was not cooked and the chicken came out warm, and became cold really quick Same as the chew burger my friend ordered was warm as well as the chips Burger was nice but would it been better hot! Felt like i wasted $20 on just a takeaway place

What has happened?! We used to swear by Chew Burgers - it was hands down our favourite burger place. But recently we went, for the first time in a while, and it's a pale imitation of what it once was. The quality's not there. A real shame!
Andrea Garg
Food is great but I don't care how great the food is, waiting 30 mins for food... when there are literally 10 people in restaurant is beyond poor!
Frank Ganino
Awesome place, awesome crew but best of all absolutely awesome burger, best burger I have ever had by a long way, keep up the great work and see ya soon

Finally a burger place with a delicious GF bun! Hallelujah. Great burgers, I'll be back for "the Chew" with bacon on a GF bun. Thx
John Pannuzzo
The burgers were nice and tasty, fries were well cooked, my daughter loved the parmesan fries. Liked the onion rings, well worth the visit.
Kerryn Cutting
Were do I start we waited 30 minutes for our food, in that time we watched them cook & prepare mmmmmm!! No gloves and every pair of hands behind the counter touched the food be it placing the lettuce & tomato on the roll to picking up the bacon that fell as assembling to taking the money & credit cards, what more can I say
Lauren Yuen
When I walked in to Chew I was the only person there. After waiting 40mins (we were told 25min wait) I asked when my burgers would be ready & was the told 5 mins. 10 mins later I received my cold burger & left. Customer service is appalling & the burgers really are not that great... especially when you consider the local competition.
Erin Gibson
Their food would taste amazing if only it was warm!

Best burger I've had whilst living down here. Staff are incredible. Just witnessed a customer have a whinge and a go at you guys about having to wait at what is arguably the busiest time of the evening. I am embarrassed for him. Patience is a virtue and you guys do a dammed good job. Keep it up (and keep me fed ).
Billie Talevska
1 hour and 15 min wait via UberEATS....burgers and fries delivered cold and minus sauce. Extremely disappointing.
Nalia
3.5. Loved the Chew burger, it had everything I wanted in a burger with a juicy pattie, fresh lettuce and very tasty! Strangely the pattie in the Cheeseburger wasn't quite as good and didn't quite hit the note for us. The Buttermilk fried chicken burger was ok, although we would've liked a thicker chicken fillet as it felt like the crumb took most of the space. The vegetable fries were initially very nice, although it became soggy after a while so needs to be eaten fresh/quickly. Onion rings were nice.
Jake Unsworth
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/><br/>Chicken strips were delicious, the burgers were pretty good and hefty sized, all for a good price. Vegan options and the gluten free bun was yum!
Stephanie Salvatore
Such tasty wagyu!!’ Omg and the parmasen fries! Like nothing I’ve ever tasted before <br/>

Chew burger has one of the best vegetarian burgers I’ve had, never lets me down when I’m craving something delicious. Always busy but never wait to long, nice staff and a cute little eat in space, one of Prestons best.
Dimmy Georgiadis
Decent burgers. These guys have some serious competition for burgers in the area but do a fantastic job. The patties are nice a medium cooked. Juicy and fresh. Staff are very kind. Wait time was a little extensive for 2 burgers and fries but it was busy at the time. Drink also took a while but not the end of the world
BruceClark
Confused menu was unhelpful...and sadly the food was a reflection of this. Tasteless and unappetising food - was a real disappointment. They seem more interested in trying to sell as much grog as possible. Not a place for fine dining that is for sure and we will be dining elsewhere next week so many other good places if you go just a bit further south.... <br/><br/>Was very disappointing and not cheap either so overall ... no stars really as the atmosphere was not great either ...very noisy echoey room made you hear every clatter and made it difficult to talk to each other - even though there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant. So sadly we did not enjoy the evening at all ... we don’t have an option for no stars.
Jesmindah
Love the vegetarian options at this place usually get it from Uber eats but is obviously better in store service is great and lovely shop fit out. Will continue to return. Thanks guys

Went today for lunch. Nothing special. When you go to a burger joint on your lunch break you don't really want to wait 35 minutes for your burger. Particular when there is say only 6-7 other people in the place. The chips were good, the burger itself was a bit dry and the Bun was disappointing. Service was okay. But it's pretty pricey for a burger and chips and after today's meal probably won't rush back.
We Know This Place
My BFC burger was packed with buttermilk fried chicken, jalapenos and some kind of jalapeno aioli, plus the usual salads. It sounds perfect on paper. And truth be told, it’s pretty hard to mess up a burger with this ingredient list. But honestly there wasn’t much that was special about the burger: the batter was thin and not crispy and the jalapenos didn’t do anything to complement the chicken. It just tasted like an average burger – nothing wrong with it, but nothing that would make me crave it again the following week.
Foodadventureswithliv
not a bad place, but i got a gluten free burger and it absolutely fell apart, way too overfilled and bread crumbled in my hands.. disappointing but i liked the place and nice staff!
Shaun Jeggin's Superstaah
Not a fan....not terrible, but definitely below average - had buttermilk chicken burger, bun was dry and tasteless, definitely not sweet delicious brioche - very underwhelming
Steve George
Been here 3 times now. Service has been good. Burgers are pretty good - Wouldn't complain, yet wouldn't say they are my go-to mouth watering juicy burger. Loaded chips were a bit of a shame, messy and not much on them at all.
Robgac
Not even close to how good the burgers were when first opened! My burger was cold, tasteless, dry and with very little meat! I wanted the old burger Hot, juicy, fresh and filling that would fill you up!
Kristina
The vegan burger is alright, it’s got a gluten free bun which I don’t like as it’s way too dense! I have tried the onion rings which have this really cool seasoning and nice and crispy and their shoestring fries are good, moist, nice amount of salt not too dry and oily!
FlyBird747
Nice enough but for $15 a burger you'd hope so!<br/>Nothing special - very similar to what you'd make at home.<br/>The long wait for our order didn't help but I think we probably won't bother again.
Jessica Nawisielski
Was told wait time of half hour, was ok with that. Ended up waiting an hour only to be given the wrong burger and wrong fries with a shrug and a “yeah, sorry about that”. Clearly servicing the uber orders before all else. Definitely not worth the money especially given it’s pretty pricey for a burger joint. <br/><br/>When we left they were still telling people half an hour despite being 10-15 orders behind
Chris Lewis
I thought the rating for chew would be higher. Clean, fresh burger that does not fall apart when you eat it. Good option for a burger and a beer next door with friends. Always a favourite. <br/>Parmesan salted fries are delicious
Fussy Zuz
Went in for the first time and told wait was 30 minutes for food. They had a about 8 orders. Walked straight out. Seriously, if you can’t serve burgers in less than 30 you need to rethink your service model.
Jessica K
Great burgers and always friendly service from the staff. I've been here a lot and the quality is consistent. Waiting is no issue cause there's an excellent bar next door and you can pick up your burger when it's ready. I especially enjoy the 3072 burger 👍
Have Hunger, Will Travel
Where shall I start? Perhaps with the 45+ minute wait on burgers? Or maybe the unique sogginess they manage to impart on said burgers? How about the below average fries, or the horrendous 'service' from their 'too cool for work' staff. If being s__t was an art form, these guys would've nailed it.
Ramp It Up
Wheel chair accessible. No toilets. But the bar next door had an accessible toilet. <br/><br/>This place serves loads of burgers so if you're a knife and fork person that may be an issue. Although the bar next door works with this burger place... so they let you take in your burgers to eat while you enjoy a drink. <br/>This shop gives a quieter environment to the bar next door if you're a softer speaker but again limited space for groups with multiple chairs.
Got_2_lunch
Just didn't blow me away. Grabbed some take aways a few months back after reading a few recent write up's from locals about this place. With so many burger joints, it just didn't stand out to me either way. Burger was mediocre and the Parmasen fries (which i was recommended) tasty like that nasty powder-like stuff my mum used to give us that doesn't need to be refrigerated. Not cute. I just think there are better places in the area, sorry Chew!
CM
Was told it would be a half an hour wait. Was almost 50 minutes. Both the burger and chips were slightly warm at best when the bag was handed to me. Burger was average, meat was dry. Chips were ok. Everything would have been better warm/hot. Would only go back if I knew it wasn't going to be busy. Even then I think I'd choose to eat somewhere else. Very disappointing.

I remember really enjoying Chew Burger in the past. Now, burgers are good, but nothing special. Biggest downside is the ridiculously long wait times. On a Friday or Saturday night you are looking at well over an hour to get a burger. They also don't take phone orders or Uber orders during peak periods. So unless you are having a night out at the Racoon bar next door or it is an odd hour during the day, I would give it a miss.
Sarah May
Great service, Extremely delicious burgers, even better fries. Had the Parmesan fries they were perfection. Highly recommend to burger lovers out there.<br/>Dining in had a really nice atmosphere and suffice seating area.
Danielle Payne
Ordered chew burger with extra bacon and fries with Uber eats.<br/>Fries were cold and chewy rather than crunchy, bacon was just cooked not even a tiny bit crispy and cold. Burger patty also cold and flavourless. Burger bun was burnt and stale. <br/>Oh yeah, and there was a LONG BLACK HAIR between the bun and the foil it was wrapped in - idk maybe that was meant as an added layer of insulation.?<br/><br/>You're better off with Maccas.
Jude D'Souza
Went during the day, so the service was quick unlike other reviews on this joint. I ordered the Plenty while my girlfriend ordered the Chew. We were both very disappointed. Everything was cooked and made well, however the ingredients are of poor quality, didn't enjoy at all. I don't recommend eating here if you are a fan of burgers.
Michaela
So disappointed. Not only did I wait almost 45 minutes for my burger and chips but it was served cold!! <br/>When I asked one of the staff if there was heating outside (which was next door) she replied with 'I don't know, we're two different places'. Shortly after and throughout the 45 minutes of waiting I counted a number of people walking in and out to take their meals next door???? Other than waiting so long and being fed a cold burger I was a little disgusted with the way they operated and handled the food. If you're handling food you should not be handling the till, which is what they kept doing!!! Argh. 😫😡
Nomafoodic Chipineats
Burgers not bad at all.. super yummy and like the wagyu beef patty. However, a little too slow to fix up 2 burgers during busy hours.. 45 minutes.. that's beyond pleasant waiting.. thank goodness there's a lovely bar right next door to help numb the hunger .. you guys need to make burgers quicker ;)
Sharon Oh
Look, these people could do the best burgers around for all I care. It doesn't matter because the sour taste you have in your mouth from the unfriendly, scowling, surly staff just makes everything taste awful. We had two quite respectable burgers here - dumped in front of us by a 20-something guy with a sweaty body and an I-Hate-Everybody invisible stamp above his head. Mr I-Hate-Everybody was also cooking which made me wonder if he spat in the patties just for a bit of light relief. His male side-kick had all the personality of a tinned ham and Ms Cook just glared back angrily at all the customers as she fried away behind the counter. The one menu (yes, ONE) they have high up on the wall is soooooo minimalist super hipster that it tells you nothing and doesn't explain anything; if you can see it. Basically we had to have the sauces, buns, etc verbally explained to us by Mr I-Hate-Everybody because none of it was written on the menu. Not great marketing design guys and also - the less you let Mr I-Hate-Everybody interact with adult humans, the better. Honestly guys, you could be good it you stopped the hatred of humanity oozing out of your pores and off every surface in the place.

Over an hour and a half wait for a burger and chips on a Wednesday night. Very dissapointed in the service and the burgers better be worth the wait! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Petal Loves Food
Yummy burgers.. the wagyu beef patties are well made! Love the sauces too and the simplicity of the burgers. Only letdown was that we had to wait 50 mins for 2 burgers to be made.. that's a little too long. With so many members of staff during the time we were there, it could have been way quicker than this. The fries also leave a lot to be desired for.. Will be back again to have some more burgers! Hope it's quicker the next time!
Must Be Hungry
The 'Plenty' burger from Chew Burger is Preston. The stand out with this burger was the 'smoke n fire' sauce, which can make or break a burger in my opinion... in this case it made it 😊<br/><br/>For the area this is definitely a must visit especially if you are after a juicy and greasy burger, so get yourself in here and smash some burgers🍔
Lina
Staff were friendly and food came fast. Ordered the chew burger and Parmesan salted fries. Burger was good but extremely messy to eat, the bun was already soggy. Wouldn't recommend the Parmesan salt fries, might try the regular fries next time. Not bad.

Ordered tonight via Uber eats, expected delivery time 35-40 minutes. Waited well over an hour before calling Uber eats support (very helpful I might add). Meal finally came about 1 hr 10 mins!! Burger warm ok, sides; fries and onion rings were terrible. Won't be ordering here again.
Gf Queen
I had the vegan burger and it was great! The gf bun was good and the mushroom in the burger was delicious, it blew my mind how much flavour was in the burger.

I was with some mates who were locals and they decided to pop by for a burger, being a burger fan i was definitely excited. I ordered the Commando, however the excitement died after waiting almost 30 minutes for our burgers (3 of us, we were probably the 3rd customer during that time and they had 3 workers) which was a buzzkill. When the burgers arrived the top bun was too much too my liking, beef was a bit dry but the sauce helped it. Orders fries as well which were over cooked and a bit stale. I wouldn't say I'll never come back but it wouldn't be the best I've had.
S.M
<br/>Ordered tonight via uber eats and after an hour of waiting the food came completely cold, soggy and was unfortunately kind of inedible. I work at a restaurant that uses UberEATS so totally understand it can be challenging, but you guys need to strive harder for some quality control.

Amazing choice of burgers. One of the best joints in Melbourne for that insatiable burger crave. Sides can be ordered with a ghost chilli rub, though it's a bit of a let down as it's not hot enough for ghost chilli, Which is supposed to be one of the hottest. All the ingredients feel fresh, the veggies in the burger have the perfect crunch. Exposed brick walls and its location in a quieter (compared to high street) part of Preston gives you enough of the run down feel without actually being run down and depressing. <br/>To sum up, good ingredients, good burger, good environment and you can have the burger as you chug some fresh brews at racoon next door and watch the world pass by on plenty road. A tad bit pricey on the Wallet but worth it.

Came back here again because first time it went down good, thought I'd try a different burger. This time round wasn't the best. Lacked a little flavour. I'll go back again but this time thought the hot one.

The burgers are fine , but if you want items left out of the burger, MAKE sure you check before you leave. That time iwent back and got a refund and went straight to Dannys in Fitzroy.<br/>Tonight's 3 burger order included plain fries.<br/>I requested for them to taste fresh and be crispy , not limp soggy fries as in the past, iwas told by the person taking the order that he couldn't guarantee that. <br/>I mean how hard is it to cook them right.<br/>Putting them in lined paper bags doesn't help either, holds the steam and heat in, I tried them before I crossed the road to the car, and they were soggy limp fries ,shithouse considering I asked for them to non soggy, AVOID THE FRIES unless your fine with shit fries, that's strike 3 on the fries , lesson learnt, they don't know how to cook them , avoid the fries<br/>

I was once a huge fan of and very loyal to the Chew Burgers experience. The burgers were awesome and so were their fries and onion rings. While more and more burger joints appeared, I continued to return to Chew Burgers. No longer. Or at least no longer as frequently. Over time, consistency has let them down until today I received a 'Blast' that did not go off. Aside from being bland, the one meat patty was half it's normal size and every bite felt like more bun than burger. I'm sure I'll return but the days of Chew Burgers being my temple of great burgers is now well gone. I seek another.

We were the only customers Sunday lunchtime, so the order came super fast. Staff were decent but could be friendlier - it's really daunting when servers don't smile/greet you. The burgers looked very appealing and tasted okay but weren't so practical to eat. Both were stacked excessively high and ended up being extremely messy to eat. Had to take the salad out of the Scnitznel burger and the extra patty out of the Plenty burger. By the end, the Plenty burger ended up in a giant puddle of at least a quarter cup of its own juices and sauce. Parmesan salt fries were disappointing: under-fried and couldn't taste salt or parmesan.

What an absolute Gem in the northern suburbs. Great burgers and great value for money, their burgers are much bigger than most burgers served up! Also the parmesan chips - FANTASTIC. Excellent service too. Highly recommend!

Really nice little place to grab a burger. I got the Chew and it was really nice. Everything was fresh and full of taste.<br/><br/>The meat seems like a higher grade of meat than most other burgers I have had. It still have a good level of fat to give the burger a great taste. I added the frieds with the roasted ghost salt also very nice. Not over powering. <br/><br/>Looking forward to going back. I will get the 3072.<br/><br/>If your a big eater than I would order an extra patty on the single patty burgers
SJG
Second time eating at Chew burgers, unfortunately it didn't deliver again. I ordered a 3072 and the oversized, dry, tasteless bun ruined the burger, along with gristle in the patty completed the disappointment. On a positive the onion rings weren't too bad hence the score of 2.0 (luckily)... sorry but won't be returning.
Box
Chew burgers was amazing when it first opened but it seems that they have slipped up. The bread was changed to a "healthier" French style bread which is too big for the bun and lets be honest, people don't go out and get a burger to eat healthy.<br/>Service was always slow but I could excuse it when their burgers were good.<br/>And finally their meat doesn't seem at the quality 5+ marble score Waygu that was getting promoted at the beginning. <br/>I hope they go back to making burgers as they did when it first opened or they sadly will loose a lot of customers.

This place is just around the corner from my house. Have been there a number of times, but doubt I will go again. On Fri night my partner and I ordered some burgers to pickup. Upon arriving home we realised they had only given us one. I sent the following e-mail and have still received no acknowledgement or reply. An apology would have been enough, luckily Kustom Burger are just down the road...<br/><br/>Hi,<br/><br/>We phone ordered some dinner for pickup from you guys tonight at around 8pm.<br/>We ordered;<br/>2 x veggie patch burgers<br/>1 x ghost salt fries<br/>1 x onion rings<br/>1 x lava dipping sauce<br/>Under the name Daniel.<br/>You said 20 mins, we arrived just over 20 mins later. You guys were slammed.<br/>Waited in line for 5 mins, order wasn't ready, waited another 5 mins. No problem it's Friday night, I get it.<br/>We get home, pyjamas on, sit on the couch, pour wine, fire the movie up (it's been an epic week for us both) and get ready to tuck into our tasty burgers. One burger, only one burger in the bag... Got to be kidding. No, god no.... The humanity!!!<br/>My fiancé convinces me to let it go, we can halve the burger, we over-ordered deep-fried goods anyway. I decide to call all the same as despite not getting a receipt I am sure I have been charged for two burgers as the girl at the counter recounted my order '2 x veggie patch burgers, ghost fries, onion rings and lava dipping sauce' I recall with pain. So it rings out, of course, you guys were slammed, of course you're not answering the phone. There is no way I'm driving back there to wait in line, explain the story, wait for the burger to be cooked, come home and find my partner to have already finished her dinner or be sitting with cold burger and deep-fried goods. So I try again three or four times until I admit defeat and leave a message stating my case, leaving my phone number at the end in the vague hope that someone might call later and apologise for messing up an otherwise perfectly planned, well-earned lazy Friday night on the couch. Now 11pm, feeling hungry (almost like I only had half a dinner) and clearly no apology call, I check the transaction on my account... Definitely been charged for two burgers. Totally sucks, an honest mistake I know, but totally sucks.<br/>I have to bite my tongue to avoid saying 'I told you we should have gone to Kustom Burger' to my future-wife as I think this might just be the thing that tips her shitty week over the edge. But in my head over and over I am saying 'should have gone to Kustom Burger, their chips are better' and considering that's pretty much all I've had to eat tonight it seems important...<br/>

Nice flavour, but the burgers were cold, so was a disappointing affair. The really bummer was asking how long, being told 30min and waiting 55min. Very uncool. Give an accurate estimate if you want return patronage
Phuong Phan
Average burger joint. The bun was way to big and the patties had a lot of juice coming out of it when you hold the burger. Personally I felt like it was just an average burger you could potentially make at home and for the prices you're paying for it.. I dunno. Probably wouldn't go back
Miss C
Pregnancy cravings have been calling for burgers lately so after some research on where to get a good burger close to home I was excited to try chew. Good atmosphere and quite busy on a Friday night - menu states that burgers are cooked 'medium' unless requested otherwise, order d well done and expected a wait. The food arrived after a while and the husband was v happy with his 'plenty' however both burgers were 'rare'. I took it back and asked for a new one - after waiting about 15 mins it came back medium - by this stage I'd had enough - well done means no pink. I know it's 'better' medium but that's how I like it. At least hubby enjoyed his - and my whopper junior on he way home hit he spot!

Last night started my burger weekend off to a absolute ripper. <br/><br/>I took my mum out for a burger dinner, after hearing about some of the places she been for a burger. I thought I need to show her what a proper burger taste like. <br/><br/>I have been to this place a couple of years ago with the boys for lunch, still taste as good as it did before. <br/><br/>I ordered the "Plenty Burger" which was the biggest and most expensive one at 16 dollars. Worth the price 100%. It comes with 160g double wagyu patty, smokey bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, mustard and topped off with there smoke and fire sauce. ( wish i took some photos ). Very nice burger and the bun was perfect to hold it all together as it was pretty big well as tasting nice. <br/><br/>My mum got the "Commando Burger" which was second most expensive at a good price of 14 dollars. It comes with 160g wagyu pattie, cheese, bacon, lettuce, onion rings, onions, bbq sauce and topped of with there lava Mayo sauce. Her response to the burger was that she loved it as well same bun as the other which held it all together. <br/><br/>We also ordered chips with the burger as well. They have plain shoe string fries for 4 dollars and shoe string fries with salt. The salt has two flavours which are "Roasted Ghost Salt" and "Parmesan Salt" for 4.50 dollars. We decided to get one of each for the salt flavoured ones. Both tasted yum, personality my favourite one was the ghost salt one. Had a little kick to it then had a nice sweet after taste to it. The portion size very very generous for the price. <br/><br/>We both finished our burgers but still had chips left over, but where so full. Tasted amazing. We had to wait about 20 mins for our food but that was peak time at 7.30 but worth every Minute. <br/><br/>The bonus thing about this place is right next door called "Raccoon Club" which is a bar with a nice little out door front with tables and heaters perfect for winter. You can order a burger from chew burgers and they bring it to you as you have a nice cold drink. Very good team work between both business. Very good for a social meet up and a feed. <br/><br/><br/>Very happy with the food, will be back soon for sure. Great friendly service, great prices, great portions to match the price. Would highly recommend this place to others.<br/><br/>Mums final words of the night was "best burger I have ever had".
Chardos
I got the 3072 burger, jalapeño, slaw, aoili and Sri Racha. The burger was good, if a little dry, and I was hoping for some more punchy flavours.<br/><br/>The ghost chili fries were good.
Taner Dalyan Cagin
Definitely a place to try for all burger lovers. The burger is worth every cent! I'm not a massive fan of onion rings, but these are some onion rings I could eat all day! Personally I reckon the chilli powder is much more satisfying than the Parmesan topping for the chips and onion rings. Not only do you get good food, but it's a great place to go with a large group mates to converse in the unique interior. Definitely worth going to go again.

Saw this burger place on Zomato and want to try it out. <br/><br/>I ordered the plenty burger with onion ring. I hate to say this, but I was disappointed. The meat patty was unseasoned, the taste is blend. The menu states the meat is wagyu, I didn't taste wagyu at all. For a $16 burger, it does not live up to expectation.

I used to LOVE Chew, but they have changed their buns (bye bye brioche on my Blast, hello new dry "French healthy" bun) and reduced their patty size from 190g to 160g but kept the prices the same. New patty was bland and had WAY too much pepper on it. I think it is time I find a new burger joint...

Best burger I've ever had!!! We buy chew weekly, the 3072 is my favourite of any burger anywhere!! The lettuce is a bit gritty sometimes, but other than that, I can't fault it. <br/>I order gluten free, they have a super yummy gluten free bun. <br/>So cool that you can take it to the pub next door too and have a beer.

Great little burger place, super clean, friendly, and the burgers are fresh and amazing, straight off the tree! I had TheChew, and the burger was cooked to perfection with homemade pickles and sauces. You can take out next door to Racoon Club and pair it with a beer - my idea of heaven!

Great little burger joint next to raccoon club in Preston. Perfect meal while have sowing beers at the local. The burgers have good flavour, simple ingredients and aren't too pricey. Biggest problem here is the service can be very slow at times, having to wait up to 10 minutes just to order, then up to another 45 mins just to get your burger. That being said, things are only that slow when the place is running at peak capacity on a Friday night. Other nights and times are much much quicker.
Stone Free
Is this burger worth the 45 minute wait? These guys need to look at improving efficiency and getting their orders correct. This place is only really worthwhile if you're able to hang out next door at Raccoon.

No complaints. Burger i ate was good. But not sure about best burgers in melbourne..... lol<br/>About average for me but i guess everyone has different tastes 😊<br/><br/>

Best burgers in Melbourne is a bit controversial, but there's no doubt that these are up there. Damn good burgers. And like everyone says, get the parmesan fries.

Found this awesome place in Preston a little gem. They have the most tastiest hamburgers juicy and flavoursome. A selection of hamburgers at very reasonable prices starting from $12 up to $16 and they're very large hamburger not for the faint hearted, specially the double meat , double cheese, bacon pickles caramelised onion's and tomato. You must try their fried onions they are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and seasoned with paprika and salt, absolutely divine. Their shoestring fries are very tasty and a large selection of dressings. The place has a small sitting area or you can go next door and eat your burger at the raccoon club. Will go again thoroughly recommended enjoy.👍

I'm going to say it...after eating far too many burgers to remember (or be comfortable admitting) Chew is amongst my favourite burgers. They are clean and flavour packed. The 3072 is my favourite as are the Parmesan fries (yep!). Love this place.

Definitely on a mission to find the best burger in Melbourne and I think I have found it! So much taste and juiciness in these burgers! AND the parmesan fries is also a MUST!!!!!

Seems as though the burgers have improved lately. Appeared to be tastier bread with larger patties and more generous fillings/salads etc.<br/><br/>The chips and onion rings are delicious as are the dipping sauces.

Delicious hamburger , delicious chips here, quick service. The portion of hamburger is quite big. I have been there many times. The price is reasonable. The shop looks simple and clean. It is a good place to deal with your meal.

Great burger guys but get your act together with your service. If you have to make people wait 30 minutes for a burger don't offer take away... And don't tell them 10minutes when asked.

Was looking forward to trying this place but kind of underwhelming on all accounts. Very weird and loud music, like an obscurer children's opera, couldn't talk it was so loud! Lots of staff milling around and slow service. Slightly overpriced for what it is $13-16 for a burger and my go to Grill'd tastes better! Dry white bread buns :( Meat and filling was okay. Chips again... okay. No cutlery or water offered. Lacklustre and a bit half arsed for boutique prices I reckon. Won't bother again.

You must grab a basket of those parmesan fries, they are crazy good. Chew into the chicken burger too - another great one! Great little place

The burgers here are generally great! I normally go for the Plenty burger and the Parmesan salted fries and its always a winner. My girlfriend had a steak burger last time we came and she could barely eat it though, due to it being a bit chewy. But that's the only bad experience i have had there. Highly recommend.

Delicious beef burger here! Delicious fries and u sure get a very generous serve for take out! Been back here many times and they just keep getting better!

Agree, this is our go-to local burgerie. Yummy burgers, brioche bun, perfectly salty shoestring fries. What else is there to say? <br/>Takeaway, not much point eating in there
Rob
The silent achiever of burger places in my view. Nothing to fancy, just a solid filling burger that hits the spot. Those parmesan chips were the most satisfying flavor I've had on chips since I was about 10 and tried maccas shacker fries for the first time.

Quality has declined rapidly since they opened, i guess when the dollars are rolling in the customer gets shoved to the side.. thanks for ruining what was once a good thing with your complacency..

The Plenty...Maaaate, 2x190gm patties of non burger juice oozing goodness! if your in the north and haven't hit this place up, we need to have a chat bout your burger priorities.

Good burgers, chips, and onion rings. I like their vegetarian burger. The portion were quite big. Price was reasonable service was pretty quick.
Kathfood
Love the burgers here, seriously one of my favorites in Melbourne! Decent serving, delicious buns and packed with flavor. Beef patties were spiced to perfection. Highly recommended!

Consistently great burgers! But a better take out joint as not family friendly with the high tables. Recommend for a quick bite! Average pricing too.
IRONMAN
Everything on the menu is tops. Chew burger would be my choice and possibly my favourite burger in Melbourne. The bar next door also welcomes you to eat chew burgers in there. Yew!
Foodandwinefan
The burgers here are next level yum! fresh buns, fresh ingredients and the sauces are bang on. amazing vegetarian options. new fav in the area!

just really great burgers, up there with the best in Melbs. Try the variations, try the sides. Bun: not quite brioche. Patty: admirable. Drippiness: positive. Sauce: quality, tasty, drippy. Mouth feel: 8/10.

Hardly surprising that a visit from the Blackwell’s had me thinking burgers. The pressure was on to produce the goods; to come up with a recommendation that would show I am a true burger connoisseur! Last time I went for burgers with the Turner’s at Laurie Dee’s it was a horrible experience, with a unanimous verdict that their burgers were scarcely better than Hungry Jack’s. OMG, what an indictment!

Located next to Preston's Raccoon Bar is a burger joint worthy of a visit. Chew Burger is hands down the best burger joint in Preston and the surrounding areas. The fact that you order yourself a burger whilst enjoying a beverage at the pub next door only adds to the establishments awesomeness.  <br/>I ordered myself the 3072 Burger and was absolutely blown away when it was brought out to my table: for the burgers are the size that you often see in an advertisement, and not the diminutive size your ordinarily end up with at other Fast Food joints.<br/><br/>I was also impressed that they offer gluten free buns, as my partner is gluten free and would have been tremendously sad to have missed out on burgers this good.

Had The Plenty burger and it's a winner! Up there with the best burgers in Melbourne, everything was perfect. The Racoon Bar next door compliments Chewed (even though they have questionable propaganda posters), as you can eat your burger in the bar. Just great!
The Official Food Hunters
Burgers are average not quite liven up to the hype. Onion rings were pretty pathetic and tasteless. However burger tasted fresh but will gladly go somewhere else for a better burger for a cheaper price.
TheEnforcer
Great burgers and service. Will be back when the opportunity presents. Conveniently located next to a bar that allows you to eat your burgers on site.
Justos
love this place. still find it hard to top. Just the right amount of everything and not too much cheese like everyone else seems to be doing atm.
Bigt
Had the chew burger- this thing is massive for an entry burger at $12. Really tasty burger but the wagyu was under seasoned, would of liked it with some salt and pepper. Maybe if I got the double patty the ratio to bun and veg would be more balance, I will try that next time.<br/><br/>The burger flavours remind me a HJ whooper lol.

Came here a couple of weeks ago to try out this burger joint the first and only problem that I encountered was that it was hard to find as the sign on top of the shop is small and easy to miss. I must say the burger was delicious and the new take on the chilli cheese fries was also very good indeed will be back again
Cedra
Best burgers I have ever eaten. This review needs to be 140 characters long, but what more can I say? Order the chicklette - it's fantastic.

Good burgers. We liked the atmospheric vibe. Chilli chip were more sweet than chilli. A burger will cost you any where between $12 and $18...

I used to live this place. Though I was here 3 weeks ago. Geez. It's quality has gone down a bit. A bit disappointed. When I first came here a year ago I would have rated this place a 4.5. I'm going to try Kustom Burgers around the corner.
Tim O'Rourke
Burgers at top notch! Patties are delicious, buns are great and the ingredients are great quality! <br/><br/>Cool fit out, reasonable pricing, one of the best burger joints in Melbourne!
Beccy's Adventures
Ooooooh yeah! Definitely a must try burger place in Melbourne. So juicy and flavoursome. This here is the chicklette. Chicken was very succulent, the garlic sauce and guacamole complemented each other perfectly - along with the bacon and salad fillings. Yuuuum. Will be telling my friends about this!
Julz Jankovic
Cool calm place, two lovely girls there to help during the day<br/><br/>Was just bored so went there with a friend<br/>Fell in love (with their food)<br/>Now I'm married<br/><br/>(To their beautiful food)<br/><br/>[YES CHEESY] 😍

I LOVE burgers, and these are my favourite. Every time I have gone to Chew the burgers are consistently delicious and fresh. I also love all of the sides including onion rings and parmesan chips! Its hard to find a place with on point burgers and great sides, but I have found it. The staff are also super great!!
Duala
Had a 'blast' and a 'plenty'. They absolutely hit the spot. Had the onion rings for a side but found them a bit sweet. The staff and the ambience are great, we will definitely be back.
