Review C-culture - Preston

STP
We enjoyed the XO Pipis with Chinese Doughnut. The Pork Belly & Kung Pao Chicken were ok. The servers were attentive 😊

Easily the best Chinese in the Preston area. My go to for those take out nights. Their only downfall (in my opinion) is they close early (8:45pm) every night. Highly recommend!

It was quick services. 1/2 duck to take away :) yum yum

Average Chinese restaurants with a good selection of rice, noodles and meat dishes, including Chinese roast pork, duck etc. Portion sizes are pretty big, perfect for sharing. Gives free soup and tea. Service could be better as dishes were slammed onto the table.

My partner and I went here mainly for the roast duck and it didn't disappoint. Half duck for about $18. The skin was crispy and there was quite a bit of duck meat on it which I know some Chinese restaurants can produce. I wish I had tried the roast pork though! It's a basic Chinese menu that has all the standard. I didn't really try anything else except for Chinese Broccoli with Oyster sauce (a staple!) and a vegetarian stir fry with rice. The service was quick and friendly. I think this restaurant is popular for its roast duck and pork, freshly roasted and cut. đŸ‘ŒđŸ»

One of the primary Chinese restaurant choices here on high street Preston. Pretty quick service and quality food. Slightly salty for my liking but would suit most locals. The good thing about this place is that it’s consist which I think is quite appealing.

Im lebanese and i have been eating asian food all my life but this place is full of rude staff they treated me with disrespect and they were swearing in chinese to each other without realising that i understood every word, i paid $20 for extra duck with rice cuisine and the portion was smaller than the regular size and the duck had no meat it was mostly bones so i will not come back here ever again and i will contact the health department and the council due to having disgusting hygiene
Daniel Tan
Very delicious Chinese cuisine. The Stuffed Tofu with Prawn Meat is delicious. The Crocodile Meat is also good (tastes like chicken). The Sweet & Sour Pork is also very good.

Food 4/5
Venue 3/5
Staff 3-4/5

Food is consistently fresh and made to a good standard. The venue feels very dated but is clean.

I don’t know why but they always decline to give me a certain type of chilly even though I say I’ll pay extra for it. I order the whole cooked fish which comes with fresh chopped chilly but when I ask for it on the side they say they don’t have it and give me pickled chilly instead. Stops me from coming more bc it’s one of my favourite combinations in the soy sauce
Was craving goat stew and headed to a Chinese restaurant hoping they would have some. Between three of us we had goat stew and xo pipies. The goat stew has rich in flavour, fall apart in your mouth meat, and great ratio of ingredients. I highly recommend it for those cold winter nights.

Only greens in the chicken, veg and cashew was celery, and over-bulked out with mushroom and bamboo shoot - it was almost as though they'd forgotten to go shopping...

The skinny man ordered the wrong thing twice, his attitude was really bad, and he charged me extra fees.
HungryMonkey
Amazing food with sub par service.
The food here is to die for, crispy pork belly on rice is my all time favourite here. The only bad thing I’d say is the attitude from the staff who treat you like they are doing you a favour. But even with that I go there consistently which says how good the food is.

Interesting little place out in Preston. The food was nice, although I can’t say it was amazing. I ordered the pork neck which was quite tasty and light as well as house combination rice noodles. The latter was a little gluggy although I did mis-order and should’ve expected this. My family’s dishes were well enjoyed thankfully. We went late on a Monday evening so it’s difficult to rate the service and ambiance, but it’s worth a suss. Would rate this 3.5 stars if possible, so because I can’t go half way I’ve gone with a flat 3.0 as I need to compare it to other restaurants I’ve rated similar

I live in Preston and every-time I pass-by used to think how this place will be. So thought of going in one day just by myself. It’s just like a typical Chinese restaurant 2/5 ambiance. But the service was good. After placing order the food was quickly served. A bit expensive but alright for first try.

Yum! One of my favourite places for Chinese food in Preston. Special fried rice and lemon chicken done well here. I’m always on the lookout for better but I keep coming back here.

Booked a table this afternoon. Met by a grumpy and probably overworked staff member who decided to give us a table at the front door next to the pay counter where everyone was standing and shoving their asses in our faces. When requested a better table we were refused and told that is it.
Yes, the place was busy and must be popular, but tired decor, spare tables and surly staff prompted us to find a meal elsewhere. Not overly impressed.
Hungry Hippo
Well priced great food always friendly and welcoming. Love coming here. Never had an issue. Recommend must try. Lunch packs are awesome aswell.

Best crispy pork in Melbourne in my opinion. Been coming here for as long as I remember and it has always been high quality, delicious meals!
Sylvia Da Silva
Came here with my family because they said this is one of the good Chinese restaurants around this area and was not disappointed, foods came out very quickly and tasty however just a lil salty for my liking. The roasted duck was crispy and yummy. Definitely will come back
MelbourneMiss
The best roast duck on rice I've ever had. Wonderful flavour, you can taste the star anise, just great. Tender meat and crispy skin. Extremely generous serve of duck, truly enough for 2 people. Noisy and plastic inside, don't come for the ambience, come for the food.

It is a best Chinese restaurant in Preston. It is also great to eat in or take away. It is my regular pace to have a meal. The food is great here with reasonable price. My favorite dishes are Lobster with egg noodles which is tasty and Duck roast roll which is juicy and yummy with sauces.
ăƒ•ă‚€ăƒ«
Beautiful food! My regular place for take away. Love their congee, honey steak with black bean source and also spiced tofu! Also their roasted duck, crispy skin pork are nice too! But dinning environment on a Saturday night can be very noisy. Not recommend for dine in.
KC
Their lunch price is really good, but noodle soups are very bland, I didn’t like their sauce for crispy pork either. I felt full afterwards but was very unsatisfying!

I normally go to Gold Lief in Preston, but I thought I would try C-Culture. I ordered a basic chicken curry. It was unedible, the chicken tasted like slime and was under cooked and the sauce looked like it was ten days old, the fat had congealed on the plate. The dish was sent back to the kitchen hardly touched. When I told them it was not edible, they just shrugged their shoulders and I was still charged for it. It may be cheap, but never again. Why pay for food you cannot eat.

My husband really felt like Chinese food for dinner and what a treat we had at c culture. The wait staff were friendly and prompt considering there was only four of them in the floor to serve a full restaurant.
The recommendations by our waiter were spot on and we saw other asians eating the dishes we had been recommended, which was good.
We order three main meals (only needed two as the serving were quite generous) but we wanted to try more than two dishes.
The salt and pepper prawns perfection, Cantonese beef, delicious as was the stay chicken. The satay was a bit hotter than most satay we have had and slightly different in taste, but I still loved it. Will definitely be back.
Greg Host
Great to find a place that has reasonable quality at a reasonable price with reasonable service. Quite rare along that strip and a place worth going back to.
Sandra Vouch
The salt and chill prawns were delicious, as were the stir fry vegetables. The service was great and we enjoyed the BYO and green tea. We are a family of five, kids ten to four, every one left full and happy.
Always enjoyed their roasts as they are always so good, especially when I get my occasional pregnancy cravings for their roast duck and crispy pork on rice. Generous portions for $12, I have half and take the other half for lunch the next day. Food to me is a 4 rating.

Service is pretty bad though. No smile, always in a hurry, the guy that is mostly at the counter, with glasses and usually takes the take away order is quite rude. Today, I ordered a "two roasted meat on rice", and because it was pretty noisy, the guy that served me thought I said "2 mixed roast on rice". He said $24 And when I clarified,he shook his head, smirked and said: "You said 2 mixed roast on rice" I said to him I wanted 2 roasted meat" and he blamed me again to say I was wrong.

Needless to say, that left a bitter taste in my mouth, as he tried to blame me. His attitude was as if he didn't really want to be working there. Maybe some customer service training is needed and smile and be friendly will be helpful.
Tina Tran
This is definitely my go to local for Chinese food.
The roast meats here are down so well every time!
I've had a lot of different menu items here over the years. My favourites are probably the seafood combination on fried noodles, scallops on tofu with bean curd, clay pot dishes are great and Peking duck! Honestly majority of dishes I order are done quite well.
Great price as well!
The staff are super friendly and helpful with the menu when needed.

Had the Spicy pork belly with schezwan sauce, the portion was plentiful and it tasted great. It was a Saturday night and was pretty busy there so the service was a little slow. Complimentary prawn crackers on the table and pretty good value for money.
Megan M
Delicious juicy duck, tasty roast pork, free prawn crackers, and leftovers come home with us 😋 Ticks all the boxes, a solid local in Preston.

I basically visit C-Culture at least once or twice a month.

They always start you off by giving you a bowl of soup, that's my fav cos all Hong Kong people love to drink Soup! Their soup is not too bad! not sure if it's becos of the MSG thou..

Their Canto dishes are good! I love their BBQ park and crispy pork. All of their roasting dishes are nice. You have to go there early to order them thou otherwise it's gonna be all gone!

I like their deep fried salty egg with Prawn/Chicken, it reminds me of Home (Hong Kong)!

Mud crab with noodle, always the best dishes. I love eating crabs and the sauce soak with the noodle ~~yummmmmm.

Having recently moved to the area, we were looking for a good Chinese restaurant. The reviews for this restaurant were fantastic, and it did not disappoint!

Food was so good in fact, we visited twice in a week.

The roast duck was a stand out dish and full of flavour but order early as they do sell out!

The crocodile with ginger was tender and beautiful.

Loved the food, will definitely be back!

Hoping to try their whole fish, fresh from the tanks. Another table ordered this and it looked amazing!
Jolene Lim
I've been to C-Culture a couple of times mainly for their roast meat. I ordered a small mixed roast crispy pork and BBQ pork (char Siew) to take away with the spring onion dipping sauce add on for extra $1. The meat came with 2 complimentary dipping sauce ( sweet and savoury). For a small box takeaway, it was a generous serving of meat for 2 people for the price of $13.60. Good value but I won't say it's the best BBQ pork in town.

No one will greet you or smile. They can't even string together a cohesive sentence in English. If you don't want something in your dish, you better specify it several times, or you will be sorely disappointed.

Service (or lack thereof) 0/5 - I felt unwelcome. Was served by 4 staff members. No smile, greeting, etc. They either can't speak English or don't speak to you.
Food - 4/5 - serving size is a little on the small side.
Overall 2/5
Mike C
This is my traditional go to spot for snow crab with noodles, my friends and I order 2 crabs and spilt it between us, tried the crab with the sweet sauce and it is delicious.
Stephanie Jade
We loved the roasted pork, roasted duck, fried chicken ribs and the live caught and cooked to order barramundi. Apart from the place being quite noisy and the food taking a little longer than it should have, everything was great and the staff actually speak english đŸ‘đŸ»

3 roast meal lunch deal was $13
Ordered the BBQ pork (boneless) , roast duck (bones) and roast pork (boneless) with rice and very over cooked, slightly slimey stringy Bok Choy

The roast meats were delicious ! Especially the roast pork , was juicy and still had the crunchy crackle
Will return for the meats
Watched the employee chop the meats then serve on the plate and microwave to reheat

We entered via the back door facing Preston markets where they stored all the garbage bins , noted a few big bags of onions and carrots stacked on bottom shelves near the bins ... hopefully they don't use them ones in cooking

The restaurant appearance is outdated and appeared to need a good scrub and sanitise . Service was alright , they served the right order
Noted the mud crab was popular amongst the other tables
Krystal
We go to this Chinese place all the time for take-away. We decided to eat in and had mud crab with noodles! It was delicious! Full of flavor! Service is always good and friendly!
Katherine Martinez
So good! Fast service and lovely food. Have been coming to C Culture for many years and will continue to do so. Friendly staff too! Price is good for what you get.
Rita
We were lucky to get a table without a reservation. You need to book this place on a Saturday night. The service was quick and efficient.
Loved the beef with black bean and the wok fried rice noodles with beef. The prawn dish with vegetables and cashews was good but could improve by frying the cashews and adding some more interesting vegetables. Overall, we enjoyed the food. Clearly the roasts were indeed popular with the primarily Asian crowd, which is always a good sign.
Would come back to this place if I am in the area wanting Chinese/Vietnamese

Also, beware of Reviewers, who are one timers, giving this restaurant a 1 - very suspicious

UPDATE 07/10/2017.

$1.00 for a take away Chili sauce, are you serious?

BBQ Pork and Roast Duck are average ......
PREVIOUS
Chinese Vietnamese is always an interesting proposition.

This place is no different, classic, quite busy, seems a lot of regulars here, clean, neat and enjoyable space.

Food-wise, their Holy Chinese Roast Trinity is worth the $11.50 that they are charging for 2 roast combo on rice. Crispy Pork Belly is fantastic, you can taste the five Chinese spice lingering between the layers.

Quick, no nonsense and friendly service.
Steven Liang
Services getting bad to worse. Stepped in this restaurant afternoon, the counter guy the attitude look like you owe him five hundred bucks never pay back, asked customer look for the seat for oneself and didn't bother to take order at counter.
When servicing the dishes , he just put the food on the other seat, not place in front of me.
Wondering if more this type of restaurants setup a long the street, how long this outlet can survive ?
Time to patronize another restaurant nearby more frequent. People should avoid this restaurant for such the poor services provided.
Gf Queen
C-culture is a staple dinner or lunch for me and my partner. We go too often and it never disappoints. The staff are friendly, and the food is always up to standard. Personal favourite is always the BBQ pork with rice, simple, yet compared to others, the pork is always soft and juicy and never dry for me.
Dean Davison
Walked out. The sort of place that has such bad service they wouldn't even add wontons to a combination noodle soup, even though I was willing to pay whatever was necessary.
Won't be back.
GV
The fried pork dumplings here are fantastic as well as the fried egg noodles with bbq pork, the only let down for this business is sometimes the guy taking your order at the front counter can be rude and push when taking your order and it's a little over priced.
Jess Carey
Next up, to satisfy my duck craving, we got a serve of Peking duck pancakes. Amazing. The duck was delicious, with lashings of hoi sin sauce and super soft pancakes. They were more like thinner tortillas almost than other pancakes I’ve had with Peking duck before, but that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, they were delicious!
Skellie
Delicious food, good service!
So glad I found this place! I'd been missing great Chinese since I left Brisbane (seems to be more/better there).
The food was great- flavourful, veges not overcooked, awesome vegetarian san choy bow.
Service is fast and the guy that served us was accommodating and professional. :)
Thank you.
Pradeep Rajkumar
Expensive and unworthy place.

The front prestation is the dirtiest ever couple of days ago.

The menu is not planned properly.Avoid the Peking duck and presentation on plates were terrible...

I wasted 30 dollars for spending a dish which is not even made properly.

None of the people except the chef are professionals.

Just give a try mates....
Jimmy V-Rod.
The food is good. The service is like asking a mate to borrow money, except the mate doesn't speak English very well... Last time I asked to pay with a card, I thought I had done something wrong and was being yelled at! Plenty of choices on High St. I doubt they would care what customers think either way...
Josephine
A typical Chinese restaurant is all hustle & bustle which is loud, noisy & quite lively. C-culture is that. If you've been to China or Hong Kong you'll know what it's like to be in a typical Chinese restaurant. Service is quite mediocre which needs improvement. However, I loveee their roast meats. They're much better than the ones in St. Albans & Footscray. The other dishes are quite tasty & priced well.
TMing
I saw some of the review saying this restaurant is racist I would like to say they are not racist but they are rude like a animal. I am a Chinese as well even can't adopt the rudeness of this restaurant . RATHER GO EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE INSTEAD OF GOING THERE.

Staff and boss both have the rubbish attitude making shame and kill the whole entire Chinese reputation in Melbourne
PEKISH
If I had walked past this place I would have kept walking, but was meeting some friends there that regularly visit & they love the food. Surprisingly the food was pretty good! Salt & pepper prawns were the best I have had! Fresh seafood, crispy & succulent. Pork was good, spring rolls was a good starter. We shared a few different dishes & for what you get it's pretty generous & cheap. Not for a special occasion restaurant as the surroundings are not that great, but if you want good Chinese take away this is the place for you.
Ckalstn2
If you are not Chinese, Please do not go to this place.

It sounds racist, but this experience in C-Culture gave me a lesson why some Chinese do not deserve respect.

I went this restaurant with my family. I ordered Deep Fried Chicken. A waitress brought out the dish which was Roasted Chicken not Deep Fried Chicken. It was very obvious. There was no batter or oil anywhere as it was Roasted. I said that I have ordered Deep Fried Chicken NOT Roasted Chicken.

The waitress said that the dish that she brought out is Roasted Chicken NOT Deep Fried Chicken.

The waitress said that the waiter who took out order (Very rude and Arrogant) made a wrong order.

She said that the dish is NOT DEEP FRIED CHICKEN.

Guess what happened next... Unbelievable.

Suddenly, all staff started to discuss in Chinese and said this dish is Deep Fried Chicken NOT Roasted Chicken. It was totally lie as the chicken did not have any batter or oil anywhere.

It was exactly look like roasted chicken that they put on the wall for the advertising.
I said to the manager that I am going to take a photo of this dish that they insist it's Deep Fried Chicken. The manager hurried to take the dish out from the table before I take a photo.

And they said apparently Chinese Deep Fried Chicken does not look like KFC chicken. It looks like Roasted Chicken.

I said I work in the restaurant too and sell the exactly same thing but this is not Deep Fried Chicken.

My boyfriend who were there is a Chef. He also said that NO WAY this can be Deep Fried Chicken.

I said the waitress said that it is wrong order. This dish is not Deep Fried Chicken. Other staff and manger said the waitress who I spoke to does not speak any English (She spoke fluent English with me 1 minute ago when she brought the food out). I said to her about this and she started to pretend she does not speak any English and started to speak Chinese to me.

I have been working in the restaurant and I know how to read the item name which they put the order through. When I went to pay the bill I saw the system had wrong chicken item NOT Crispy Chicken.

The waiter obviously made a wrong order. Manager and staff fooled around us all the sudden by pretending they do not speak any English and saying how Chinese Deep Fried Chicken looks like.

Have been here numerous times over the last 5 years. I always enjoy it. It's noisy, bustling and full of atmosphere. Favourite dishes are the BBQ Pork and Roast Duck. The Singapore Noodles are wonderful. A must try.
Tracey Wiseman
We've been to this place a few times for lunch and dinner - both just as busy and noisy as each other in that buzzing Chinese culture kind of way. The service is pretty quick here, I highly rated the roasted duck and pork they have displayed on their window sill reminiscent of true Hong Kong style cafe's. Dinners not bad but wasn't as authentic as I would have liked, still a very fast service but being from Hong Kong originally I expected a bit more fragrance from garlic in their garlic pork ribs (instead only a few sprinkles of instant garlic granules in thick batter) and their Sichuan chicken to have a bit more Chilli and less sweet. So that was a bit of a let down in terms of being a bit too westernised. Overall I would try other dishes and return for sure!
Been-there
Territble place. Food is ok but definitely not worth the rude stuff and bad service. The waitresses were pretty much throwing plates on our table without even asking who ordered what. they were rrogant and very unfriendly. Every single plate was broken, maybe you should buy new ones. Not coming back
HungryHippo
Been coming here for over 10 years. If you want fine dining Chinese don't come. If you want value for money tasty well cooked food with friendly staff must visit. Never had an issue with the food. Roast counter is A+
Paul Kington
I am not a huge Chinese food fan but this place does a decent job of it. I think you get a lot of mixed reviews here because if you go at lunch time you will be given a very different sub-par menu (1$ equiv). The best food is on the big fold out menu which you can order from any time of the day (just ask). As with all chinese restaurants with such a massive menu selection there can be some average dishes. The banquet B is really good value and I thought they did all dishes on it quite well. The duck and seafood are very good for what you pay. Good service too.

Not sure about C-Culture. They were very busy for a Thursday night, which is usually a good sign. However, the complimentary tea was served in a filthy, cracked tea-pot. The wall next to our table was also visibly dirty. I'm not usually very precious but in this case, I began wondering about the hygiene of the kitchen. We ordered the seafood special, peking duck pancakes and some beef noodles with a side of boiled rice. The duck was excellent but the seafood special was ironically, nothing special. The noodles were reminiscent to food-court fare. Looking around the crowded restaurant I wondered if we had just ordered badly. More than one table had gorgeous looking platters of ruby red crab. Not sure if I will come back, it is cheap but so are all of the restaurants along this strip of High Street. If they make an effort to thoroughly scrub everything down and replace all their broken, chipped crockery I may be tempted to try out some crab but until that happens I may give C-Culture a miss.
Jaysful
The food is slightly better than the smaller take away restaurants, but still very not up to par. The style seems to be just about throwing as much oil as they can at a dish. If you're well versed in Asian cuisine you can tell the oil they used in the noodle and rice dishes were stale and have been repeatedly used in the past (i.e they recycle the oil from cooking other people's food). Staff friendliness is not their strong suit either. The food took very long time to get to the table.
Jess Carey
Finally, the piĂšce de rĂ©sistance. Crispy skin pork belly. Would you believe this was apparently the entree serving, which cost all of $9.00?! It was a mountain of pork, and it was perfect. Holy wow. We both agreed that we’d go back JUST for the pork, it was THAT good! Super soft and tender meat, beautifully rendered fat, golden crispy tops. It’s the stuff dreams are made of. I can’t overstate the deliciousness of this pork enough.
ThePrestonProwler
This place is gooood. It's a rough and ready Chinese. Things are a bit basic and chaotic. Fish is pulled out of the tank and shown to you while flipping around in a plastic tub before being cooked. Rice is served in a little esky with a ladle.. Best.
Charlie Kang
Service can be a bit rude at times but food quality is satisfactory. Roast meats are alright. Not as good as Pacific seafood house in Richmond.
Mike Hunt
Roast Duck and Pork A+. I like C-culture for what it is to me - and that is dependable.
The Roast Duck and Pork is excellent and the lunch special is as well priced as you would find elsewhere in the area.
As other reviewers have mentioned, it is probably not in the leagues of many similar restaurants found in say, Richmond, but hey its Preston not Richmond!
High on my list of eateries to visit when in the area.
Julie Anne Carey
Overpriced. I have not eaten here as the prices are too high.
Jimmy
Bland and boring food except from ottoman beef(?) -or something like this- which was very salty but tasted nicer than the other dishes we had!
Duck was like my death! No taste at all.
Rice was cold as my ass! It could be better... at least!
The "lemon sauce", a totally industrial and artificially -colored, -flavored light yellow liquid!
Of course, not impressive restaurant at all, but clean dishes (no hair, no rotten veggies, no scraps).
Shanton
This place serves the usual south Chinese fare (mainly Cantonese). To be fair they are no worse than many of the Cantonese barbeque houses around town. Their roast meats (char siew, crispy pork, soy chicken) are all good.
Stephen G
Everything here is good and tasty
Classic Aussie – Chinese Food.. Service is ok but for the price you can’t complain
A must try if your’e in that side of town
Dishes to try
Diced Chicken Hot Pot
Roast Duck

Nina
Good but not great. The crispy roast pork and roast duck were both underseasoned. Good for the area, but no competitor to richmonds 'pacific seafood bbq house'.
Nixz Kerr
A reminder to myself not to eat there again. Ordered banquet A.
Sweet corn soup. Beyond bland so added a heap of soy sauce. Still only ate two spoonfuls. Normally I love this soup. Sad face

Most of the other dishes were either bland, burnt or lucky me. BOTH

sweet sour pork was nice and the extra peking duck we ordered was nice. Other three dishes as above

staff nice, cleared table promptly. Food just too boring and bland
Chuan Liu
Must have a new chief because all the dishes tasted strangely different. Management was chaos, dishes came in different and unconventional order. Waiters swearing at each other with loud voice
Toms520
Delicious roast pork and duck.. My family has been coming here for years. We love the bbq pork, crispy skin pork and roast duck. Also we often order spinach with garlic ( it's not on the menu ). Great food , great atmosphere.
Happy_dod185
Not the best experience. Was there for a family banquet and was not impressed by the service. I wasn't expecting the best service and I can deal with staff who don't smile, but the service at this place was just sub-par. During the banquet the crab was served, but with no crab claw cracker. I've been to numerous Chinese restaurants and this is the first time I've ever had to ask a waitress for one. Did they expect us to crack the crab with our teeth and hands? Also, with many Chinese restaurants, when you eat the crab or lobster dish, they will provide you with a bowl of warm water to wash your fingers in. This place does not and when you ask them for it, they pour boiling tea into a bowl and pop it onto your table. Beware, the boiling tea may burn your fingers.

Additionally, when we were served the dishes to go with the rice, we had no rice bowls. It took so long for the rice bowls to come that we assumed we had to reuse our soup bowls and started filling those with rice. Last came the dessert. It took them so long to provide plates and utensils that we started to use our hands and toothpicks as well. Not the best place to go for a chinese banquet meal.

Returning Customer. My girlfriends and I have been going to C-culture for our catch ups for the last 12 months. They now know us by name and the food is always delicious. They have noted that we order the same thing all the time and next time we visit insist on picking a dish for us.
The first visit the waiter was lovely, since then they are less chatty however professional and the food comes out in a timely manner.
I would recommend C-Culture to anyone who wants tasty food but doesn't whine if the waiters don't have enough time to pay you extra special attention. This place gets really busy and it's always advised to book or you can wait for a while for a table.

Overpriced Food and Incredibly Rude Male Waiter. PROS:
1. Dishes consisting of only protein and vegetables in sauce are flavorful.

CONS:
1. Be warned: Read over your bill carefully before paying. From my personal experience, and on nearly every occasion, the price for each meal charged to my bill was often inexplicably and significantly higher than the price stated on the menu!!!
2. I was often overcharged. For example, when I ordered a serve of sliced fish with mixed vegetables priced at $16.80 (as stated on the menu), they instead charged me $23.00!
3. The portion size of their soups is stingy and served in very small bowls. It's also overpriced.
4. A serve of mixed Chinese vegetables – charged to my bill for nearly $16.00, when the menu states $11.80 – was presented as an ungenerous dish consisting of almost all bok choy (inexpensive to buy) and a few carrot off-cuts, and no other appetising vegetables. Also, be careful about requesting extras. When I asked the waiter to add a few snow peas to the mixed vegetables, I counted only 6 snow pea pods and they charged me an additional $4.00!!!
5. The female waiting staff are very friendly. However, there is one arrogant MALE waiter, in particular, who is so incredibly rude, disdainful and unobliging, that you feel as though you are inconveniencing him to do his job. Most unprofessional and he completely ruined our night.
6. This restaurant does not deliver value for money and the food is overpriced. Also, I often found I was overcharged on the final bill amount.

For these reasons, my family and I – who used to be regulars – have stopped going back, and will never return again.
Justin
I used to eat here.... The BBQ meat is quite good, the service always rude. I'm sad to say I've never been offered the free bowl of soup, and didn't realise it was because I am white. Racism is unacceptable, they've lost a customer.
AdL
Single meals. I work around the area and like C - culture because of the variety of meals for one. For the average price of $9, it's pretty reasonable with good portions. Food is tasty too and I like that they serve a bowl of delicious clear soup once you're seated.
I will bring more people to try the dishes.
Kell787
Vegetable dishes. The Vegetables were nice but it were too oily of it, so yeah.
Daniel Brown
Nothing Special. The food was average. Dishes of previous dishes weren't cleared when they were clearly empty. At the end of the meal (had a Banquet) a male staff would loom over the table until we left.

We've been here a few times for family dinners, to be honest it is hit and miss. Sometimes it's great, other times not. Everything is as you can expect from an average Cantonese Chinese restaurant - busy, loud, disinterested waiters, menu on the wall and roasted meat by the window etc. The latest visit was quite disappointing. The waiters were fast and attentive, but the food was just poor, to the point where I question if the chef was in at all. Everything was so salty my tongue felt abused and I had to wash things in tea to get rid of the unbearable bitterness. Surprising as I'm usually very tolerant of salty food. Then the BBQ pork we ordered was the worst I've had in ages, it was drowned in salty gravy to cover up the under flavoured and under roasted pork. Not your traditional char siu pork at all. The only dish that saved the night was the taro filled crispy duck. It was very fatty as they removed the meat and left the skin and fat, but that helped with the flavours. The only thing I could not figure out was why it tasted like there's zero salt added to this particular dish. It could've been perfect. Not coming back in a hurry.

Food is always good here. Menu options aplenty. Lots to scare anglo-westerners! Pretty noisy place though so be prepared to talk up - especially to the staff. Be loud and clear and get them to repeat the order back.

We'll come back.

Great Quality. On par or marginally below Pho Hung's and Gold Leaf, C-Culture is a very good, clean and high quality asian cuisine.

I recommend the sizzling (literally, it's loud) plumb sauce beef or pork.

This was the worst restaurant experience my partner and i have ever had! Didn't start well with the waitress failing to understand us when we were trying to order even pointing to the dish with a chop stick was proofing unsuccessful . Finally we got our order recorded and proceeded to wait for over 25 minutes for our drinks and entree. The table next to us ordered 10 minutes after us and had finished eating when we finally got our main without rice, which we then had to wait another 5 minutes for while our prawns were going cold! Still no sign of entree or drinks by the way! The drink even asking requesting a second time, never came and entree came when we had finished out tasteless prawn meal. My partner told me the home made dim sims were awful and he didn't finish them . We asked for the bill of which drinks were on and spent 5 minutes explaining they never came. We paid and put change was slammed on a plate on the counter even though I had my hand out. We left hungry , disappointed and in shock that on top of all the terrible food and all BAD experience . Do yourself a favour and walk right by this one , there are other choices on this strip !

Poor Services, Overpricing. Service and counter staff very rude. Dishes are overpricing. The foods average, nothing special. For better value, either go to Hung Sanh Seafood, or Oriental Seafood next door!

The worst place I've ever been. Terrible service. I ordered a roast duck and pork on egg noodle dish. The guy who took my order couldn't even crack a smile when he took my order. Just took my money and handed me my table number (only because I told him it was to have here, not because he asked). My meal arrived first (there was 6 of us who ordered) and it came out with rice. I told them that I ordered the dish with egg noodles not rice. He took it back without apologising. I waited for them to come back with my proper meal.. Nothing.. Everyone else got their meal and I had to go to the counter to enquire about my order. The lady behind the counter asked me what I ordered. When I told her she just ignored me. Continuing to serve out other dishes. Talking in Chinese and didn't even acknowledge my order. Eventually after waiting 40 minutes for my lunch I asked for a refund. No apologies. Nothing. This was the second time I went here after they stuffed an order the first time. All staff and rude and obnoxious. I'd petition to have this place closed down if I could!

Love this place, food comes out quick and its always tasty. Big menu so lots of different combinations to be had. Floor can be really slippery so be careful.

Good Value. Have been here many times and I have found the food good and reasonably priced when compared to others in the area. Their duck and crispy pork is worthwhile trying as is their wok friend beans. It can be noisy at times, but this is only because it is a busy and popular establishment.

If u want value for money, ask for the with rice menu. Unknowingly they will try to hand out the expensive menu. I was so happy with the peking duck wraps! Will definetly come again

Best duck in Preston. The best roasted duck and roasted pork. The best in Melbourne. Don't understand why Hung Sung claimed their roasted duck is the Number One in Melbourne.

My initial impressions of this place were spacious and conveniently located especially after a morning spent at the market. So suffice to say we were hungry. The service was executed with the usual asian expediency minus the personal engagement; this is expected and being a traveller from far and wide this is OK when the stomach is grumbling. What is not OK is the blatant inconsistency of providing the bowl of soup prior to meals. All asian patrons received soup except the non asian (me) and my asian lunch partner, She also thought it was weird and upon receiving feedback from other friends: it is not the 1st. time. To top off both of our dishes were very bland without a large dose of chilli oil so suffice to say we wont be going back. There are too many great Restaurants with asian cuisine to sample and this definately isnt one of them.

Hit & miss sort of place. Service is very average, and depending on how busy it is & how the staff feel will depend on the food you receive. Last experience was just that, the last given how poor the food & service was. Didn't seem to phase the person in charge. Would most definatly suggest going elsewhere

C-culture eatery. Went there today for dinner, ordered chaw siew from the menu which i remmbered was 9 dollars. when the bill came, they charged me 16.90. after clarification, they told me i ordered the large plate. and i said i didnt even know it came in a small or large. so i went to check the menu again. and i saw on the other page, it had char siew( with peanuts) 16.90. but mine didnt even come with peanuts. the rude waiter just said. sometimes the chef gives peanuts sometimes they dont. and if i wanted peanuts they can give it to me now. none of them actually put any effort in trying to clarify this matter. one waitress thought they she should give another plate of fruits which i felt rather please, as they made the effort to serve their customers. but suddenly another waiter came and took the fruits away as we already' had them'.
this was the last time i;ll come into this eatery. really very bad service.

Where are the manners?. We found the service to be very poor and rude, almost as though we were invisible as they go about their banter. As for the food, it is slightly overpriced and the quality is sub-standard.

We were disappointed as many years ago this was a great place to come with family and friends. Then again times do change.

Terrible service. Waiters n.... Terrible service.
Waiters not caring or serving you, forgetting orders and/or not even communicating your order.
We were forced to wait for our next plate of food >30mins.

Food was bad to average.

Will never return again.

Haphazard and rude.. We made reservations at this restaurant for 5 people. They put us on a 8 person table which made it hard for our group to talk to one another. We ordered 8 dishes and we only got 6. We waited for over 20 minutes for the last two dishes only to discover that despite talking to 3 waiters about it, it was never put on the menu! The dishes that we did get was horribly MSG-filled and rubbery. Yes it is cheap - but you get what you pay for - cheap food, cheap service, unapologetic rudeness. Ruined our night. Never again.

Guide Dog refused!. Went to dine here on 13th January with my partner and her blind mother. Upon entry we were quickly stopped at the door as we had a guide dog. We tried explaining it was legal and we had a disability card but the guy didn't want to hear it. Have never been treated this way before at any restaurant and it was completely humiliating and disgraceful. Never again!

C culture is a highly affordable satisfying Chinese experience. The portion sizes are fair and the food is consistently to a good standard. Highly recommend for a quick dinner.

Oil..Msg..Bad attitude...sick = Never again. Even though I am not a big fan of chinese and had to attend due to a Special family event, I went in with an open mind. We orderd for 8 people and got 3 Fried Rices dises and a mix of Beef & Black bean, Satay Chicken, Honey Prawns, Cantonese Steak & Some entrees of Spring rolls and Home mad dimsims. According to the Staff, They couldnt provide my uncle with anything without msg because "All Chinese foods have MSG" and that they could only serve him steamed rice with boiled vegies. Apart from this, I did feel quick sick after on. The Foods didnt taste awful, but I am Generally not a fan of food that a Restaurant here that Claims to Represent any reigon of China (Besides Dumplings), due to the Exceptional amount of MSG, oil & Salt on EVERYTHING, and this Restaurant just Re-iterated this. I m looking foward to the Chinese restaurant that has Great flavours without making me feel sick... hmmm.. Spice temle? Flower Drum?

Rude and overpriced. Saw the crisy skin pork and roast duck hanging in the window, so ignored the expensive Cantonese-style menu and asked for that on rice. It was good, not standout, but I've been here before and would recommend the BBQ meats, if not for the rude service. It was a busy night, and our order was greeted with "is that all?", then the bill arrived halfway through our meal, the message being eat up and get out, you're not spending enough. Popularity breeds contempt it seems, along with hefty price rises.
