Review Gipi's Pizza House - Preston

Stefan Fabbian
Was really excited to try Gipi's given their high rating on Google. Called 15 minutes prior to pick up. Arrived to store to find out my order had been forgotten. I ordered a small Meat Lovers with BBQ sauce. The pizza had little taste and was not satisfying (despite the pizza being made fresh in front of me). I personally believe there are better pizza options down High Street, Preston. 3 stars.

Probably the best pizza I’ve ever had, and the gnocchi was amazing as well. We all had 2 courses and were so full when we left. The value for money here is so good and the service was great, will be back often

Big plates, delicious food, vibe is awesome, staff are friendly! I’ll definitely regular this place when I can!

We love coming here for the food, the friendly staff and great atmosphere! The menu is a collection of Italian staples mixed with Nonna's classics. Their pizzas are delicious with a vast array of choices. You won't be disappointed!

FINALLY found some good pizza in Preston (despite the ridiculous number of pizza joints in the suburb!). Thin base, just the right amount of fresh toppings (i.e. not an inch thick) and cooked to perfection - which you will NEVER get with the majority of other pizza shops in the area loading the pizza up so much that half the ingredients can't cook because they're buried. Seriously good pizza made by Italians, cant believe I've driven by for so many years and not thought to give Gipi's a try. A great sign to see a few old Nonna's coming in for their pizza fix. *For the record, we ordered: Family Pepperoni with capsicum and onion, Large Vegetarian and a Small Mushroom. Papa Bear, Mama Bear and four-year old Bear ALL really happy

Such wonderful tasting pastas we had a Tuscan chicken and cabenara. chips where delicious so was bruichetta. garlic bread was very rustic looked great but just a hint too much garlic. Will definitely be ordering again. It's hard to find a good old fashioned pasta that is full of flavour and tastes bloody amazing... Customer service was lovely too thanks heaps

Mixed bag..kids loved the pizzas, wife's meal was good(prawns) but my veal snitz was a shocker.was 1mm thick tops tasted like cardboard. Chips that came with meal and extra bowl was average.we were close to the kitchen we could smell the cigarette smoke from our table.Next time sticking to pizza.service was good.

Great friendly service, very kids friendly restaurant. The pasta is fantastic (had the staple spaghetti carbonara) and the pizza isn’t bad either. The crepe isn’t too overly sweet which I really enjoyed. A nice homely/cosy pizza joint which I will return again. Thx for the great hearty meal :)

We’ve ordered from Gipi’s through Uber eats a few times now and my boyfriend is in love with the spaghetti Bolognese and gets it every time. I’ve had the chicken salad and Margherita pizza both of which are good however the salad is rather pricey especially for a salad. Over all good quality food though and fast delivery time!

Ordered take away and was pleasantly surprised! Pizza has a chewy base with a good ratio of toppings. Tried the gnocchi Napoletana and smashed it, the portion of pasta was a little on the small side, but still yummo.

Been here twice already. I love how convenient it is that they're open when everyone else is closed already. Ordered the gipi's pizza special the first time(not sure of the name, but the one with anchovies and capers), it's A-mazing!!! I liked it very much and I normally don't like capers. The second time, I ordered pasta bolognese and it was also good but lacked cheese, and I just found out after I was done eating that the cheese was served separately, lol. My bad. Anyway, staff was very nice and friendly and serving time was quite reasonable. There was a bit of bad smell the first time we went, but quite understandable because I think they just finished painting then. The smell was gone the second time. Will definitely be back. :)

This place is amazing . If you feel like a proper pizza that is not thin base and you want to feel like you had a proper filling pizza with actual toppings than come here .

The base was perfect ! I had the volcano
It was hot & cooked to perfection the dough was awesome !
The pasta was also so nice and fresh
I can’t wait to go back !!!!!

Gipis recently changed owners and it already shows with the new pizza oven and pizza dough- yum. There are plans for a new menu and renovations for the new year. We are Friday lunch regulars and enjoy this institution in Preston as the food has been great.

Gipi’s is a bit of a hard one. A few girlfriend’s and I walked past some lovely smells on our way to the food truck park. But the food trucks turned out to be a bit of a disappointment and so we went back to gipi’s as thoroughly enjoyed our meal. However, I did go back some months later but the pizzas just were as fresh. The resto does have a warm ambience and a homey feel to it.

They arent super gourmet and dont try to be. Well priced, decent atmosphere and yummy pizza. love the capricciosa! the new owners are slowly turning this place around.. especially with the new italian dough being used

Takeaway pizza and chips from here tonight, have been meaning to try this for ages and as soon as I heard there were new owners we decided to give it a go. Pretty decent pizza with a good base that wasnt all doughy like most other shops around here. Wished for more anchovies tho! Chips were yum. Lovely staff, will visit again! Cheers, Gipis

The pizza base was really floppy, and the toppings were all very central, with a lot of space between the last fillings and the crust. I always pick pizza up but I had to use a knife and fork.
The garlic bread was a sliced baguette with a tiny amount of butter smeared on the outside and toasted. Wasn't very moist inside or garlicky. Just like toasted dry bread.
They overcharged us by a few dollars and we didn't realise til we'd left, and the bill was high already- beers too expensive. Definitely won't be back.

We got a takeaway chicken parmigiana and a seafood pasta, the chicken "parmigiana" was a dry chicken breast covered in bolognese sauce and the pasta had almost no sauce on it. Very disappointing and overpriced for what we received. Would not reccommend or return.

Love it! Love the Roma pizza! The pastas are awesome too.

I had heard decent things about Gipi's, but damn these people need a wake up call. The staff were INCREDIBLY rude and condescending, particularly the owner, to the point that I nearly walked out (if not that I hadn't already paid for my food). I will never be back here again, lucky Preston has an abundance of pizza shops.

Service was poor and shoved into a dark corner with no space. Food was overpriced for what it is but is ok. Been a there four times and after the last time, I know there is much better Italian options in the area

Cute. Nice little place.

Pizza is very expensive but ingredients are all good.

Pasta servings are large and good value.

Not being open Sunday/Monday is a pain.

Pizza was fine - not the best but not the worst either. In any case the quality of any Pizza is a very subjective matter. Personally, I'd much rather have fish and chips - although, since Harrys on Plenty left (years ago now) there isn't much choice in Preston. Anyway, to my fellow reviewers all I can say is back off Gipis - the pizza is fine. For those who are too lazy to venture across Dundas into Thornbury, Gippis is as good as it gets.

Went there a few months back. the setting is cramped up but the food isl nice. staff are great. one of them has a little trouble with English though. mains are slightly small for the price you pay but its so nice. you have to go for their gnocchi, parmas and a steak with red wine sauce .there the best three dishes. its a family run pizza shop but i class it as a quality restaurant to eat in. the only sour note is that there beers aren't as cold as what they should be.
Mla Sahib
Emanuelgipis. You pay for the quality sir..we used fresh a grade stuff...and we do make best pizza in town
Pho
Yes I like your pizzas but the prices are ridiculous.
SCORPIO
Rip off. Overpriced pizzas,I paid $60 for 3 large pizzas that were average,at that price i would expect a lot better and there not even woodfired !Try la Salita in University Hill ,Bundoora..or Condotti in Ivanhoe...Take note GIPIs of how a pizza is made. These places sell 3 large gourmet WOOD FIRED pizzas for under $50.I dont mind paying for quality but GIPI's is not quality ! Oh also when I rang Gipis for price on pizzas they couldnt tell me !(What do you want and I will tell you how much ??? WTF ??) apparently they make prices on the run....very average decor matched by their very average pizzas....sorry Emilio, you have lost me and quite a few others
Mark Stracey
So so. Service was great, pizza ok, worth another crack.
Christine
My family have been going to gipis for 40years,he maynot be the cheapest pizza you can buy,but you get what you pay for .We love his Americana and pasta is delicious .So if you don't like it go somewhere else more room for us.
Paul
Gipi refused to do a half/half pizza because, quote "I'm too busy to do half/half for you". $21 for a large capricciosa take away with under 10 mushroom pieces on it? No thanks.
Mick
Disappointment. Have had the pizza here twice now and what a disappointment, even though they are above the normal poor standard of pizzas in the preston area. Although the pizza bases have more of a traditional look and taste than others in the area the pizzas are dry and flavorless. The Ortolana had sparse toppings of grated vegetables and little sauce. The processed ham on the Capriciossa was burnt to charcoal in places. Perhaps if the prices were a little lower i could excuse some of the flaws.
