One of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. The food is absolutely beautiful, and the staff are always really nice.
This is our favourite place to eat out.Even my young daughters love it.The staff are lovely and the food is always amazing.
This place is consistently good. Fab food, friendly service and reasonable prices. Our family and friends love it here
Much nicer than the other popular restaurant down the road good tasty generous servings nice relaxing environment
A real favourite of ours for years now. Scrumptious food, always consistent.
I love the food in this restaurant. The staff are always friendly too.
Had an amazing dinner there last night and service was excellent too!!
One of my favorite places to go to when I am in Preston. Everyone is so friendly and approachable. The Mongolian beef and the roast duck is by far the best that I’ve had. Would definitely come back here with my friends and family.
Absolutely love this restaurant as there is such a good range on the menu and they do have roast meat.
I would usually order the roast pork with rice and the crackling is always on point. The prices are reasonable and is perfect for a cheap eats. Would want to come back to try their crab noodles the next time i visit.
Meals are wonderfully made! Love the xo shrimp and the sweet sour pork. Truly an authentic Cantonese dinner and friendly service.
I have been coming here for years! Ever since I was little my dad would always come here and get their crispy bbq pork and peking duck for dinner or special occasions. The meat is absolutely mouth watering and cooked perfectly just the way I like it. The pork is always crispy, salty and has a good amount of fattiness, as for the duck, it’s meaty and juicy, definitely not dry at all unlike a lot of other places I’ve tried.
Also the staff are fast and very friendly.
Highly recommend this place! Never disappoints.
Had the lobster noodle with ginger it was absolutely delicious. Peking duck was delicious also, a little pricey but the food was worth it. Definitely recommend this place for lobster lovers.
I'm sad to be leaving the area and moving a little further north as this awesome place will no longer be in walking distance to my house! I ALWAYS go for the crispy roast pork and it NEVER disappoints. tender, salty, fatty and delish. Comes on a bed of rice with bok choy or pickled veg and is very well priced at around $10 for 1 meat. I have also tried to duck, which has crisp skin and juicy meat, but the pork usually wins out. You can also upgrade any of the 'with rice' dishes to friend rice for only a small amount. Complimentary Chinese tea when eating in is great too :D
Extra note, man who is head waiter/maybe owner can seem a little pushy, but trust his judgement and you will have a tasty meal
Nice spot for a quick lunch with their lunch specials. You get served complimentary Chinese tea as well as a daily soup.
The roast duck and crispy pork was really yum. The pork had crispy skin but was slightly fatty. I preferred that than to have dry pork. The duck was also really good and not dry at all like a lot of other roast ducks you get. The Cantonese fried kway teow tasted authentic with that special wok flavour and the chef was generous with the beef. Will definitely return for lunch if we are in the area again.
Our experience was positive, quick service and they replenished our tea regularly. We ordered crispy pork and soya chicken, both were delicious! At the end of our meal, we received a complimentary dessert so that was a pleasant surprise!

loved the foods. I tried more than 10 dishes and usually I am satisfied. The people who serve the dishes were all helpful. There is a friendly guy I believe he is the owner. They turned a happy birthday song for us. it was impressive! I appreciated!
The most delicious food was lobster with noodles and crab with noodle. Yum! Also when I order fish, they caught the fish from aquarium and showed me. very fresh!
Glad I came across this gem. Actually passed another Chinese BBQ joint first but this one was full of content looking customers. The venue looks like it hasn't been updated since the 80s but I found that quite charming. As long as the tables aren't sticky! The lady who served me came across as genuinely friendly. First came a free bowl of soup which I wasn't expecting, as many places don't bother anymore. The flavours were pretty intense, you can tell that it's been boiled for a long time, not "quick boiled". For my meal I had ordered fried noodles with combination meats and this was served in an adorable mini wok. It was absolutely delicious! Noodles were crispy, the sauce was spot on and the right viscosity, toppings were generous. Definitely coming back in the future when I'm in the area.
Quick goodness .... Vietnamese-Chinese or Chinese -Vietnamese food?
Not pretentious, you'll get what you see.
The Chinese Trinity of Roast by the Window, classic Chinese 80's early 90's set up inside, complete with waiters & waitresses in White shirt and Black vest. They are great, friendly and full of smiles, quick and no-nonsense service, even speaks Cantonese.
Easy Menu to navigate .... Food wise;
$12 Two Roast on Rice; great taste and value, can't go wrong - BBQ & Crispy Pork Belly, zapped in the Microwave before serving :-)
$15.50 Crispy Egg Noodles Seafood combination; served in a mini stainless steel wok, another great value for money and taste fantastic too. Lots of reminiscence to the Cantonese style of cooking.
Thank you for that quick enjoyable goodness, I'm inclining more of Chinese food Vietnamese style/experience.
Love the efficiency of the staff, the pricing of the food and the roasted duck.
One of the better roasted ducks I've tried in melbourne.
Will definitely be back for more if I'm ever around the area.
No frills Vietnamese food. I usually stick to the chicken and rice, it might sound boring but I really like it. I can see why it's not for everyone but it has a certain type of charm.
Was recommended this place by a friend, and it didn't disappoint! Our waiter Vince was a champion, and recommended us dishes that he thought we would like. We had half a crispy roast duck, pork chop with spicy salt, and snow pea shoots with garlic.
The duck was crispy and juicy, with a lovely sweet soy sauce. The pork chop was a dish that Vince recommended, and it was beautiful - tender, more-ish pork bits, with heaps of spicy salt. The snow pea shoots were a nice change from Chinese broccoli, and the serving was HUGE!
I can't wait to go here again. The service was so friendly, and I love recommendations! I've found my new favourite restaurant for sure.

Having a late lunch over at Hung Sanh.
Old school Vietnamese Chinese restaurant. Efficient and friendly people, my partner ordered a Pepper Cha shiu with Cantonese barbecue Sausage rice.
Nothing fancy or glam but the glossy looking meat will make you drool.
Comes with a complimentary soup (老火湯).
What a wonderful casual quiet way to enjoy lunch watching grand finale.
Few Chinese bbq places on this Asian strip but this would have to be the best bbq joint. Absolutely delicious bbq pork and duck on rice!! Simply the best!! Could eat this meal everyday! Will be back thanks!
There are three Chinese restaurants on the same block on High Street and when we need to get takeaway roast meats, this is our default pick, not just because their roast meats are the best among the three but also due to the fact that they have
紅腸 (chinese BBQ sausage). Dining in is also much more comfortable, the tables are spaced out much more generously and you feel less cramped. Their generosity also applies to their portion sizes too. Great for a quick cheep feed in the area. Service is pretty straight-forward, you obviously are not coming here for chit-chat with the staffs.
One of my regular take away shops on High Street. Barbecue or crispy skin pork on rice are part of my weekly ritual and at $9.50 it's a bargain. Why would you bother to cook after a hard day at work?
This time, I thought that I would try a sit down meal and splash out on something special. I went for the fresh barramundi, straight out of the fish tank. It was steamed in classic Chinese style with ginger, soy and coriander. Excellent! As requested, I was also presented with some Szechuan sauce on the side and a bowl of clear beef broth (to shake off those winter chills). Mandy, the manager, kept me entertained while I waited for my meal and the staff were friendly and attentive, just like a 5 star resort. This is why I love Preston!
I am in pursuit of the perfect crispy pork on fried egg noodle. This place is the closest to date. Each time i go here and place my special request i change my description a little bit but i am sure version 3 will be right on the money.
I come here for the stir fry and roast meats on rice. Nothing disappointing so far Tasty food reasonably priced attentive and prompt service!
We love eating here. The food is always great, well priced and well it is only a 5 minute walk from home. It's always packed so come for an earlier dinner to get a seat. I love the Pipi's in XO sauce and always have the donuts. They are delicious for soaking up the sauce. The Snake beans are also good as are their BBQ'd meats hanging in the window. Staff a friendly and attentive.
Just got home from eating at Hung Sanh and I tell you what, that was a great meal with great service.
The portion size was great with bowl our meals and the taste was really good, will definitely be going back and referring to family and friends.
Good old school Chinese food. Food portions were very generous. Great menu with something for everyone.
The restaurant is very clean. Staff very attentive and friendly.
Won't bother going to Victoria street anymore.
Textbook perfect casual Cantonese food. Never had a bad meal here. Consistently , the loveliest staff I've ever come across in an Asian restaurant (that's including higher end joints).
Oct 2015
Value for money meal, very big portion and often I can take away half of the meal for next meal. Rarely can find a Chinese restaurant can cook well in stir fried noodle, tried few different fried noodles at this place, very satisfied, so I know where to go next time when I want to eat stir fried noodle.

Tried their lunch and dinner menu several times, very big portion for the price you pay. Like their roast duck too. Today order Fried Beef Noodle dry, taste the "wok" fried, flat noodle very smooth, quite satisfied. Partner ordered roast pork rice, good as per usual, very big portion.
DIning in & Take Away. The fried rice is to die for. The red roast pork is always fresh & tender. The size of the serve for an eat in meal is very generous. You are also given a free bowl of vegetable soup as a free entree. The staff are always pleasant & the service is prompt. This is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Preston & the prices are quite cheap.
Always great food with good service for this type of casual Chinese restaurant. Heaps and heaps of choice and very good value for money.
Our favourite place in the Preston area!. We take my mother-in-law here whenever we go to Preston and they never disappoint. You really go here for the meats - they are awesome! Crispy skin pork with just the right amount of salt, roast duck that melts in your mouth, perfectly cooked soya sauce chicken. The other dishes we've tried here are of a decent standard too, particularly the vegetable dishes. Definitely worth the trip for the meats alone, though.
Excellent cuisine and nothing in the menu disappointed. We had a large group and chose about 10 mains with some entrees and the overall a positive tasty meal. Service was good but not great. 8.5/10
Great food, great service.... This restaurant is must dine. when in Preston drop in and have a great meal.
Great banquet. We had the banquet dinner for 10 people was fantastic. The price was cheap and we even had abalone, and lobster on noodles. We have been there for many years cause I love the Peking duck, you can't go wrong with their BBQ combinations. I think it's a new owner taking over and they are so friendly and good customer service .
Beautiful foods and best service. Last week my family and I we have dinner at hung Sanh and we're very surprise they have new management. The food was still very delicious as always and the customer service has improve a lot. I was curious so I ask one of the staff and was told even though new management but the head chef is still the same. No wonder the food is still very nice plus the improvement of customer service and the best price in town I 'm certainly coming back and strongly recommend .
Can't go wrong w the roast duck and roast
Great Sunday Brunch. Wonderful service, excellent food and good experience once again.
We've been going for years, tried most of the restaurants along High St, but Hung Sanh wins every time. Huge menu, and yes the atmosphere is very Asian and sometimes hard to understand, but the food is traditional, damn hot and spicy, but filling and tasty.
Don't listen to the morons (specially the I should know I am Asian wankers) and the ones who expect mud crab for $18, take your time, order well and you will love it too!
A local gem offering delicious Chinese dishes without fail. My partner and I have been dining here for over five years and despite two different owners, always greeted with warm and fast service.
Without fail, the dishes on the menu also hits the right flavours and texture. We have tried almost item on the menu (Peking duck, soya chicken, roast pork, black pepper steak, eggplant and pork, egg noodles and prawn, special fried rice, hot and sour soup... list goes one) and have not come across any item that we didn't like for lunch or dinner.
They have renovated the restaurant significantly from what it use to be and despite the busy nights, we can always still have a conversation over our meals.
They also do takeaway with their crackling roast BBQ meats such as duck, port and chicken. We have ordered their roast BBQ meats several times and always left satisfied.
Better quality and priced than C-Culture in terms of their menu and they run circles around C-Culture in terms of customer service.
Highly rated and recommended.
Best style food in the areas.
Most beautifull BBQ pork & 3 choice of meat with rice as well as an amazing combination fried egg noodle, always fresh & extremely friendly & well priced, would deffiantly reccomend.
Great roast meats, hit and miss on politeness but overall really good food
Absolute Favourite. I've been coming to this place for over 6 years, in that time it's had three different owners and it's still amazing every time go. The Roast Pork, Duck and Soya Chicken is what this place is all about. I really love the 'salty onion oil sauce' that comes with it. Highly recommended.
Fantastic. This is a great lunch time restaurant. Free soup and tea is usually given and for @ $10 you can enjoy a fantastic meal. I LOVE their mixed vegetables.
Best this side of town. Hung Sanh still remains one of my absolute favourites. Beautiful duck, crisp roast pork, awesome chicken - great bbq and roast meats.
Best BBQ pork in the area!
