Review Dosa Plaza - Preston

omkar deshpande
The food is really good and quick service... They have verities of Dosa’s available. Even though we have only tried 4 verities till now all of them were really good. If you are missing Indo-Chinese this is the place you can enjoy the best.. Ambiance is good... Staff is good, May be some more training to the staff to help people choose the dish. (Not in negative way but I think specially for people who are trying Indian food for the first time they might need some help from the staff to choose the best) Overall very good experience.

Terrible service, and the worst food! Stay away and have dosas at any dosa joint but this. It all started with a bottle of water that already contained food particles. Then the Vada pau had stale bread. The mysore dosas were sliced to 4 pieces with watery filling so there was no crunch in the dosa which was served with a watered down sambar. The masala dosa had a runny filling too. Nothing like a good decent dosa served anywhere. Drinks came when food was almost finished. Masala soda is just black salt and pepper served in soda water for $5. The Pav bhaaji was out of stock and we weren't informed till the last minute. They replaced with a masala dosa and billed us incorrectly (only just noticed). The manager was just arguing with us trying to explain why the food and service was such. Overall a terrible experience. Stay away!

Good food, Good for vegetarian, lot of variety, nice and clean restaurant

Extensive veg menu, separate vegan menu. Great dosa. All Indian staff, authentic flavours, good quality. Many customers are from the sub-continent; a good indication of the authenticity and quality. When you eat in, the service is pretty efficient. When you order delivery...it takes the l-o-n-g-e-s-t time and is usually not hot enough.

Honestly Food is FANTASTIC. Food is absolutely Beautiful especially as a Vegetarian Food ONLY option. I am always mouth watering going past the store. Even the venue is Clean and Tidy. However, The presentation of the food is absolutely cheap and not looked after. The staff is NOT trained properly as required in a Service industry. The manager needs to look after training and presentation of food. Rest all is Beautiful and good....... Must visit and eat fabulous food!

I have been coming to this place since 3 yrs because I use to love what they cooked. But since last couple of times I had to send dishes back . This time their Hakka noodles had literally had no veges and so do the soup. After getting back the noodles it had lot of salt in it. Quality has really gone down. Very disheartening to see...

The staff really made us feel welcome and the place is well laid out and clean. The menu is extensive, catering for vegetarians and vegans. Being a carnivore, I was a bit worried I wouldn't find much that I would like but I was pleasantly surprised to find a few things even I could enjoy. Naturally I missed having meat but not that much and I would certainly come again to try some other dishes. I enjoyed my coffee after the meal and my vegan sister and brother in law that I was with had chai tea with soy milk. I forgot to take pictures of the place and the food but it was all very nice and the food looked great. I believe the dishes are mainly Indian style.

Great options for vegetarians and vegans. Jain options also available. I have been going there since 2015. Food is good but they need to improve their service standards. Drinking glasses, plates, cutlery are not clean pretty average.

I wish i had read some of the reviews here before visiting. The place has some great potential but needs more attention to the basics from the owners. We has to wait atleast 25-30 mins when there were only 2 other tables occupied and one of them had alright finished eating. The service here is just ridiculously inefficient & unprofessional. On more than one occasion we found the cook just gazing out at the customers rather than trying to get the food out quickly. We also saw him eating food in plain view of all the clients. I don’t know about others but if you have to eat, you do it away from your customers view. Also when the waitress outside asked for the food, they just ignored her completely. There seems to be a lot of hierarchical bullshit going on in the place. Finally, we had put an order for eat in and some of the items as takeaway and guess what; even before anything had reached our table all the takeaway food was packed and ready. That is just so ridiculous. The only reason I gave an extra star is because i saw some potential in the food. Items like Chole Bhaturey, Idli Chilli Garlic and the fried rice were pretty good. Rest of the items were a bit cold and not up to the mark unfortunately. They accept card payments and there is a shopping centre parking a short walk away.

The restaurant is in a good location.<br/>They have real huge menu with quite a variety of options.<br/>Staff and Service is unbearable and irresponsive.<br/>Food isn't really great either.

Would give it a lower rating if i could - went there for dinner a few days ago and was greeted by flies everywhere..At least they gave us some attention which is more than could be said about the staff<br/>We asked the staff to do something about the flies but the staff didnt seem to care and said it happens in summer.<br/>We were there at 6pm and the only ones there & were still told one of the items had "sold out" <br/>Ordered the chole & dosa and my wife had finished her chole 5 minutes before the dosa came out.. When we asked about the delay the waitress scoffed and said its the kitchen's fault and not her problem<br/>Food was mediocre at best and not the freshest - never ever going back there and definitely not recommending it to anyone - except the flies maybe!

Indo Chinese is good here, Manchurian, Hakka noodles ect, good place to bring family if they don’t eat non veg<br/>As everything is 100% veg <br/>Not such a good place for a date ect as the feel of the place is very utilitarian <br/>But awesome quality for the price point for family’s

We used groupon to try this restaurant. <br/>Ordered 2 different dosas 1-Spring Roll Dosa & 1-Mexican Dosa with a mango lassi. If you read the menu the fillings are completely different & what I’d expect trying 2 different items. However - <br/>1) It took 1hr 20 min for the food to be delivered to our table (dosa’s take 5-10min!). I don’t mind 30-45 min but If I had to wait that long then I’d have chosen else where on empty stomach. <br/>2) After asking three times we finally got given the lassi, my wife had 3 sips & had to let go off the rest because the yoghurt used was well past the due date. <br/>3) Have a look at the pic & please let me know which one is which dosa? Their elaborate menu spoke about grilled vegetable-cheese-mayonaise-etc in one & some other fillings for the spring roll. What we got were two dosas with the same filling & that too of nothing else but cabbage! In both! <br/><br/>The two servers running around were good & genuine. The manager refused to acknowledge there may be an error. He did ask us if we’d like to order something else instead but we didn’t have the patience to wait another hour on empty stomach. <br/><br/>Not sure whether the bad experience was because we used groupon or because the chef was in a rush but we’re never stepping foot in there again & I wish I’d seen their rating prior to going there. Rated low for a reason.

We went there for dinner and ordered masala dosa, paneer dosa and idli.<br/><br/>The potato(dosa filling) was slightly sweet and sambhar was lacking vegetables i can just see only carrots in there and even the taste was not upto the expectation.<br/><br/>Not sure if we are going back again to this place.

Our favourite hangout joint in northern suburbs..if you would want to have South Indian food, this is the place.. staff is polite and accommodating. Items are reasonably priced as well..
Divya
Our food took over an hour to arrive despite us being the only people in the restaurant. Our coffees arrived towards the end of the meal and were so milky we had to return them. The waitress was completely clueless and had no idea what was going on. Overall a very frustrating experience!

Came here the other day and absolutely loved it!! So many vegan options! The masala dosa was amaaaaazing and MASSIVE probably the best I've had so far. The staff are extremely helpful and attentive. The place is clean. The prices are really good. Will definitely return.

Food is average! Haven’t tried everything on the menu but whatever we tried was pretty good except for the Pav Bhaji..<br/><br/>The Vada Pav was exceptionally great blew me out ..

Indian food fusioned with many others ......?????<br/><br/>I was hoping for a simple Indian meal .... Dosa Masala & Mango Lassi, until when I saw the Menu .... they have Italian Indian, Chinese Indian, Mexico Indian .... and so on ....<br/><br/>I was happy with my $10.50 Vegetarian Dosa Masala, why make it so complicated? Today I visited this place as I was craving South Indian food, the first impression was that it was a clean place at a good location with a nice view of the streets. <br/>From all that I ordered here only the masala dosa was value for money. It was delicious with a crunchy exterior and a tasty potato filling. The disappointment came with the Mexican dosa , it only had a filling of cashews, lettuce and some sauce. Is that even Mexican by any sound of it I wonder.<br/>The two biggest disappointment however came from the Papri chat and the kulfi falooda. Firstly I have tasted better Papri chat in India, there was maybe a small pint of yogurt with zero sweetness. Further it was smothered in some yucky garlic chutney sev and onion. Anyone eating it would have their mouth full of garlic odour. It was unbelievable. <br/>Secondly the kulfi falooda came in a martini glass and was a repulsive combination of too much vermicelli basil seeds and a tiny amount of liquid. So full of candied fruits and nutes that it was simply disgusting to say the least and had to abandon it Midway. It would be better to throw your 10.50 dollar somewhere. <br/>This was the first time in my entire life that I complained and I was told that I should have tried Royal falooda which I did not even find on the menu.<br/>
Bijal Parmar
One of our favourite vegetarian place. Great menu and great dosas. Their Indo Chinese is to die for. Great presentation of all dishes. I'm still yet to try all my favourite items from their menu. The desert is great too, so leave some room for the outstanding falooda.
Bhavya.kaur47
Ordered the pista kulfi and it was so icy i could hear the ice when i crushed it. Food took extra long to come and it lost my patience especially because i was super hungry....the food was delicious though however don't order the icecreams they aren't fresh

super great place for vegan vegetarian varieties.... loved crispy dosa and fried rice...=))<br/><br/>beautiful clean ambience. nice staff. too many to choose but staff made easy to start with simple and most famous item.. fall in love with it.<br/><br/>must try sizzlers.

LAST NIGHT visited and amazed by varieties. $10 deal options were very tempting.<br/>street style Chinese food is highlight. <br/><br/>BEST JAIN FOOD for my parents.....wowowwww<br/><br/>loved the place. so clean and refreshing.

This place has lost my patronage. Whilst the food is pretty average, the service sucks on every conceivable level. Delivery times when ordering a take away is absolutely appalling. If it was possible to score a zero, that's what I'd be doing.
Andy Loves Food
I didn't like the place, location is convenient but food is not up to the expectation. I ordered Pao Bhaji and spring role dosa both the items were below average. Pao Bhaji didn't taste a bit like Pao Bhaji and dosa was too oily. It's a no no for me.
Sunil Goel
Went there atabout 5pm for a meal. Restaurant was quite as expected at this time of the day. The service delay was atrocious. Staff does not know that cottage cheese and paneer is same thing. We have to wait for 15 minutes for an extra serve of sambhar. We also had to remind them three times. <br/><br/>Service level... Very poor.
Tracy Francis
Absolutely loved it. 3 meals all delicious. I ordered the Veg Hakka Noodle plus mushrooms 🍄 really wonderful. Friendly helpful staff, and they offer a delivery service as well. Perfect. Thank you!

Visited the restaurant yesterday. We ordered masala dosa which was soaked in oil and haldi. There was hair in the white coconut chutney. Next was mushroom chowmein which was cooked in stinky oil and it tasted yakk. This place have deteriorated badly. Worst indian food in preston!!!! If you love urself, your health and want something good for your money then strictly avoid this place!!!
JJ
Nice and crispy dosas. The masala filing was a bit gooey (hope you didnt blend the potatoes) but otherwise tasty. Bharata was ok but the dosa much better.
Prashanth Sam Nallathamby
Great Dosa and all around good food. The chef is great. Authentic as it gets. Sambhar and the white chutney that accompanies the dosa is perfect. Service is a little rough around the edges . But, good place to go to if you find yourself in Preston and get the munchies for dosa.

I visited this place today and  ordered a masala dosa. It was not cooked properly and was utterly  tasteless .When i complained about it to the  girl/manager at  their service counter, she started arguing and tried to make me believe that it was properly done and alright while anyone could see that whatever I had on my plate was not Dosa but a hastily warmed batter which was still loose.   her coercive behavior made me agitated and her denial of my valid complaint forced me to walk out angrily . For a place that has DOSA in its name, I wonder how can they get away with serving un-cooked batter and unreasonable staff. please avoid this place.

I love the Dal Fry, Manchurian sauce veg dumplings and potato stuffed paratha!! All vegan!! All great, love the taste of the food. It is really yum. <br/><br/>PS one of the vegan meals says 'cottage cheese' so that's a bit confusing, might need to update :)<br/><br/>Surly coming back...

This is a different kind of review - I have never actually eaten in this restaurant, but I feel I have a good insight into the way they run their business. My mother is 92 years old and a resident in an Aged Care facility. She is almost bed ridden and unable to go anywhere, but we visit twice a week. About a month ago I noticed some outrageously fantastic decorations at the nursing home. There were flowers, brightly coloured fabric, sparkly things and even a life sized elephant! Everywhere I looked was another amazing detail and it made me so happy as nursing homes are such bland, neutral places, and my mother has always loved bright colours. I was told it was so the residents could experience an Indian feast, and considering many have never left Australia, this was a wonderful opportunity. I discovered it was Dosa Plaza and I wanted to say thank you for doing such a wonderful thing for our older loved ones. There are still decorations up and it continues to delight me to find new things every time I visit. My mother has been there 5 years and this is the best thing they have done. <br/>I was also heartened to learn you are a vegetarian restaurant as two of my three children are vegan. <br/>You are obviously very compassionate, caring and creative people so I will be bringing my family there for a meal soon. Here is my mum with the elephant, thanks again.

Ok, so I have been to this place like 10 times and the indo Chinese here is worth the wait and crampy space. The South Indian and the related fusion is also good to try. The quantity is decent and price is definitely cheap. The only thing they really need to look into is - service. Sometimes they take forever for dishes like sizzler. A must visit if you want to try a fusion South Indian and indo Chinese
Moni | Thoughts Of A Moni
Dosa Plaza tries too hard to do fusion food, rather than focus on their forte, which is traditional South Indian dosas. We had a mexican dosa and a chinese dosa, both of which were nice, but the real highlight was the sambar (which was surprisingly served with these international dosas, and didn't really match!). It made me think that perhaps I should have stuck with the traditional masala dosa...

Not recommend <br/><br/>Extremely slow and poor service :(<br/>I have there 5 times and have noticed no improvement at all<br/><br/>I hope they seriously do something about this

Beautiful food, reminds me of India! I go to this place every time I visit Melbourne. Don't expect great service. The food is delivered as its prepared so order in a way that everyone at the table can share. Amazing desserts too!

I am a regular to this place from past one year now. The quality of food has dropped drastically. Sweet curries, cold dosas, rude waiters, bland food this place is definitely not the same which was an year ago. Have been there a couple of days ago for Brunch and got a takeaway dessert. When opened later it smelled all curry. Looks like the container used to pack the dessert was used earlier. I called immediately and reported that to the manager. I was promised a callback which I never got. When I called back later I was told that it's been discussed with the chef and asked me to bring it back for them to check. I can't be bothered to drive 8k's oneway for a $6 dessert. Poor show Dosa plaza. You surely have lost a very regular customer.

Very poor service. We order jain food but still we got a food with onion garlic. We have to wait for half an hour for each item. Taste was good but management was very poor. No one was responsible for customers. Never go there in future

I agree with the others. The taste is very inconsistent and we go to this place nearly once a fortnight. <br/><br/>This is more a fast food style restaurant rather than a sit down fine dining one. The nature of South Indian food is that it is hard to bring it in course by course - but is still possible, not quite impossible.<br/><br/>The wait staff is not very experienced and not very intuitive as well - need more training.<br/><br/>Some what disappointing, but for Indian-Australians starved of South Indian fare, one has to put up with what is available!

Never stepping my foot in this place ever again. The main reason is here the chef decides what you're having for the day. Out of 5 times, 3 times I was told there is no dosa available out of the "trillion patented dosas" on the menu. So I called for Chinese food. They charge you full but the quantity is a rip off, I literally had to go back home and cook food. The staff there seems drunk, they look at you with surprise when you ask them to give plates for you to eat ( Like you need to even ask for plates). <br/>But the fun begins now, I am not a complaint guy usually but given my frustration, I wrote a complain on their facebook visitor page. The team never replied back, instead they deleted my post. To be honest, they hardly care about people giving negative reviews. They just simply thank people who write good reviews. Great Job Dosa Plaza, at least one restaurant out of my list which is a total rip off. <br/><br/>A good review - For people going to visit there, just have the Masala Dosa (Only thing good). :)

Hi guys......<br/>We went in dosa plaza today!!! And its was so good, very nice food( like taste of india) very good nd fast service.everything need and clean!!!! I really like very much!!!LOVE IT❤️❤️❤️❤️
NK
Great veggie food - vegetarian and vegan options. They also deliver ! I get take away all the time - never too long of a wait and so many options to choose from. I have even tricked a meat eater into getting the sweet corn soup ! They didn't even realise there wasn't any chicken it was so tasty. Keep up the delicious work 😁😁
Sammy
The menu is immense . We tried 2 different dosas and 2 noodles . Only 1 dosa was ok . Rest of the items were dissapointing. The restaurant looks nice though .
Nikhil
Excet the menu everything else is really really bad. Putting million things on the menu is not the job well done. You also need to know how to cook. <br/><br/>punjabi thali had only flavour of garlic, masala dosa was too thin and sambar literally had no vegetables, sev dhai puri was bland and only tasted like plain yogurt. Really disappointing.
Kay Pee
Horrible onion Uttapam. . & dosa was like pappadam never going back I guess they need to change their chef otherwise no one who likes south indian food will be going there anymore
Butters Stotch
Good food but average service. The waiters could learn a thing or two about service etiquette. I tried the dosa here and it was good. But friends tell me that other than dosas nothing else stands out, haven't tried other dishes but would go back for the dosa.<br/><br/>Not a bad place to eat at if you don't mind average service.
Courtney Skinner
We ordered a delivery from here tonight. The food was delicious!!! The only negative I have was the fact that the food was completely cold by the time it got here, we would consider eating in next time.

A new branch of Dosa Plaza opened recently in Preston, right on the junction, just near the Aldi supermarket. Dosa Plaza is a franchise with a handful of stores around Australia and New Zealand as well as over fifty in India.  I wouldn’t normally give a franchised restaurant a second look, but I had been watching the store being built over the last few weeks. What caught my eye was the fact that they were entirely vegetarian. A quick look at the website and I found that they had a large number of vegan menu items as well. So I decided I wouldn’t be a snob and give them a try.

Fantastic attentive service and heaps of vegan options!!!!

Worst food n worst staff..! <br/>We ordered Pani puri snd it was disaster. The items are spoiled and foul smell when they served to us.! We reported the same with staff n he changed the mint sauce pretending that it was fresh. Its a total crap.! N the owner/manager she don't have any idea how to deal with people n charged for all items. LOL.! Other than panipuri we ordered mexican dosa, spring roll dosa n fried rice.! Full waste of money. Seriously bad experience.

"Indian VEG Plaza". Our selection of dishes were mainly varieties from the Tandoor & Curries (Butter Naan, Bhature, Paneer Tikka Masala) / Indo-Chinese (Hakka Noodles, Veg Manchurian Gravy), We thoroughly enjoyed the food (preparation was fresh), the taste was excellent, service was good (delivery of dishes were prompt given the nature of preparation involved).<br/><br/>Being a Saturday evening, we were quite skeptical (having read the reviews) but we should be honest enough to say that our expectations were exceeded although the restaurant was quite busy. We definitely recommend this restaurant and will be going there again (of course with an open mind) to try their menu which is quite extensive.

Worst dosa ever. Went there with my partner, waited 30 minutes for my order, they served one dosa first so my partner keep waiting for his dosa to come.cold sambher which was tasteless ,spread cheese of top of dosa which is not melted at all(it should be in the filling if u r mentioning it in the name of dosa)not in garnish .<br/>paneer dosa got cabbage instead of paneer, they put cabbage on both dosa as garnish.they put cabbage as garnish on fried rice.<br/>must be getting cabbage for free ,still they say every dish is unique..<br/>chilli paneer dosa was sweet by taste.cold coffee ordered was not cold at alll.now i can say worst tasted food was from this restaurant!!! n i meant it.<br/>poor customer service.people u like quality food should not go there.<br/>i m writing this my first review because i read reviews before trying some new restaurant to help everyone to save their money...
Ashley
The food is good but the service is very poor. We were 8 people dining in, and all of our orders kept coming in slowly, with some orders being partly completed. The gravy was served but the rice was served almost 15 minutes later, by when the gravy was cold. Since it was an indo-Chinese dish, the cold gravy wasn't very palatable. One of our friends' order wasn't delivered until the rest of us had finished eating. On complaining, we were all given complimentary lassi, even though some of us didn't want it. <br/><br/>They need to organise their kitchen and increase their level of service. Even cutlery and Serviettes have to be asked for, which I think can be dealt with easily by having them on the table. Lots of room to improve if they expect better patronage.
B.kiranjot
Went there and was really disappointed... Had nothing... Paneer panchurian had no paneer... No dessert... Nothing... Big waste of money... Big no...:(

Like being back in India. Great atmosphere with Indian music playing great menu really happy with the food , friendly staff, the did forget one thing we orderd but that was easily fixed.
West Preston Diner
Yum authentic Indian cafe. Reminded me of being in India. Great food, cheap prices, good atmosphere. Quality can be a little inconsistent. Will be back.

Poor Service Won't go back. Meal was arriving 1 by 1. took almost 30 mins to finish the order. Tables are very close to each other.

Tasty cheap takeaway. I ordered the combo pack for takeaway which included the dahl of the day, vegie curry of the day and paneer curry of the day, rice, naan, raita and a dessert all for $12.50. Crazy good value- could have fed 2 people (I didn't finish it). The food was delicious and service was fast.
Edita
Beautiful food variety but poor hygiene and customer service. I visited the place a couple of times, only because the food is beautiful and the variety of vegetarian options is impressive. <br/><br/>On the other hand, the trays in which they bring your plate are ALWAYS dirty (is it difficult to wash them?), <br/>- the staff most of the time is inattentive either chatting to each other or are pre-occupied with cleaning while customers are waiting around<br/>-it is also unacceptable that meals ordered by two people at the same table are brought in 20mins gap - learn some basics?<br/>-last time in my plate I found a slice of lemon that was cut maybe a week ago - dry and with black marks! Yucks<br/>-Dosa usually takes a long time to be served<br/><br/>To conclude I guess it's a good place for take aways, although I'm doubting the hygiene of the kitchen & the freshness of ingredients considering my experience...
Vani
Shocking staff. After 15 minutes, staff start pestering us to clean up the table though we were still eating just to make place for others. We paid for the food at least they could have let us eat in peace.
Rishi
I will never go back again. First and last time. We didn't finish the food kids were still eating. 4 different staff within 10minutes came n asked "have u finished" "can I clean up" "can I take the plates"..... Was talking to a friend while eating, didn't finish the dosa when looked back plate was gone. Isn't it shocking ? Unbelievable
Amitlive737
Best Family restaurant. With combo deals between 11am and 5pm – that alone is enough to draw the crowds. But add to that list an impressive vegetarian menu with loads of flavours and serious approach to dosa— Dosa Plaza Preston is now one of the hottest places in my list
Javaidmohd110
Horrible food and very poor service. I order for eat in masala dosa , chholy bhaturey and paw bhaji . Dosa took 40mints they say chef on break . And paw bhaji worst only potatoes no test. Over all bad experience no recommendation at all.
Swati3511
Poor Hospitality and Customer Service. NOT RECOMMENDED!!! 0/10 FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Nice Place which could improve.... Went there to have lunch on a weekday. Wasn't busy so we had quiet well customer service and food came in 10-15 minutes time. Loved the cheese dosa but I think maxi roll could improve a bit with taste. But nothing to complain. Food was delicious. So we took take away too. <br/>Ordered a chocholate shake can't say it is the best we had. <br/>Overall I think it is a good place to be and nice food. Was sooo full that I could not have the falooda shake. But next time for sure. Hope to visit you again. Good Luck guys!!!

Don't eat in here.. 1) the buffet on Tuesdays they constantly run out of everything and don't clearly tell you what is a single serve only. They put small amounts on plates forcing you to go up multiple times and you just hope they'll have naan. <br/><br/>2) don't be surprised to be seated right in the way of the door and for them to stand right by your table directing large groups around. Never mind the fact that there are tables free everywhere. Next time (if I'm crazy enough to come back) I'll demand a better spot.<br/><br/>3) buffet is confusing. They point and say 'this one is unlimited' this I am pointing out because I've just seen the cashier and waiter argue with two customers who thought they ordered buffet.<br/><br/>4) food is not real Indian. <br/><br/>They do have good naan at least.

Worst place. This place is very disappointing with worst food and service

Pathetic service... Worst experience I ever had... It was worst experience I have ever had... Service is really worst.I would not recommend anyone to eat here.

Worst food terrible customer service Never ever will step into this crap place :(. Last evening we went there ordered about 5 dishes between 4 of us it took abt 45 mins to get the food, but the shocking news was there was glass piece in our food, when we informed the waitress she coolly asked what do want me do now ?? neither apologized nor replaced the food, not any of the dishes was close to dandedong branch , the manchurian was burnt outside and not cooked inside, No plates were served !!!Totally waste of time and money !!! I would recommend people to think twice before you step inside this crap place.
Christine Fox
A great vegan find. Good food. Great service. Ji was a very attentive waiter. I will go back for sure

Avoid!!!! unless in an Emergency. Me and my partner have been to this place atleast 5 -6 times and have tried variety of different items to give you a review and what to expect when you go there. <br/>Their Dosas (tried Mysore masala and Pav Bhaji) are decent taste and quality. Tried couple others turned out horrible. <br/>Service: Expect you or your partner to wait (which can be long enough) while others are enjoying their meal, you will be waiting. That is frustrating. Waiters only responsibility is to dump the food on the table. Any extra plates, dirty ones will not be picked up unless you (customer) collect it and hand it over or tell them to take it away.<br/>Food: I Ordered Chole Bhaturey (2 plates) and the bhaturey were ice cold. Not that they were busy, went late afternoon and there were only about 10 people in the restaurant. When I told the waiter that its cold and to take it back. He went back to the kitchen to tell the chef, came back with the response : Shall I microwave them for you? I was shocked. The bhaturey I was served looked ugly and deflated, looked like an old one had been reheated.<br/>Buffet: Never ever try their buffet. It is a waste of money, non appetising. The chef lacks the skill to cook any thing except few types of dosas. The buffet had paneer curry which had a sweet curry taste same as a cheap grade take away that sells butter chicken. The taste was exactly the same but had paneer in it. Asian dish was a gobi manchurian. Dear O dear, the chef does not know how to make manchurian. He literally went by the name gobi manchurian. Made manchurian gravy with soy sauce, boiled or microwaved gobi and added to the gravy. If you try normal manchurian, exactly same gravy with a ball in it that will leave you wondering what did it have, clearly not veggies, may be potatoes. The chef might know. There was naan. Roti is not allowed in buffet. And a dessert that you are only allowed to take only once. And when you taste it, it was disgusting, not even worth trying once.<br/>Overall horrible horrible experiences. <br/>You might be wondering what made me go there 5-6 times. My wife is a vegetarian and it is closer to home. So went there few times thought our experience might be different but it infact got worse.

Delicious. If you're veg*n and often have to choose between only a couple of items on a menu when you eat out, you'll be so overwhelmed here, which actually stresses me out, but normal people I'm sure would be delighted at the amount of amazingly delicious options. The portion sizes are huge so come on an empty stomach. Staff are very attentive, the establishment is clean and well run and the prices are decent. A must visit :)

A veggie wonder!. Following our friends' suggestions, we were at Dosa Plaza last Friday. We had our expectations pretty low after seeing a 65% rating in urbanspoon...but we were so pleasantly surprised! For starters, the menu was so welcoming and had an array of dosas and all well known South Indian food items. We started off with dosas, then moved on to Chole Batura; Then tried our hands on sabudana vada and finished off with pav baji! The taste was deliciously impressive and the customer service was equally good. Since the kitchen was about to close, we had to stop treating our taste buds to more food!!! But the next time we feel like some vegetarian food for dinner....Preston Dosa Plaza will surely be first in the list and we will be all set to try out a few fusion dosa varieties!

I am not a person who normally complains but yesterday I went to dosa plaza Preston and was completely disappointed. None of the dishes were anywhere close to what it is supposed to be. The paneer chilli was served in red sauce with no green chillies and we were told that's the authentic way of preparing paneer chilli. The Chinese bhel was under cooked and the manchurian was cold and undercooked. The dosas were cold and their schzwan dosa was filled with just onions in brown manchurian gravy which they again claimed was authentic. Their staff was really confused all the time and did not know what we'e the dishes being served. Also a couple of dishes that we had ordered did not even come to the table. These pple do not know how to cook or run their business. I suggest not to even try this place. Really really disappointed!!!

Really Poor Customer Service and not so-great Food!!. My husband and I went for dinner last night and ordered 5 dishes (3 starters and 2 mains). The first dish that arrived after waiting 45 mins was one of the mains. We did not mind it as we were hungry and thought that the rest of the food must not be far behind. After finishing it took another 15 mins for the rest of the food to arrive. All this time the wait staff did not care to provide water, cutlery or napkins. When the rest of the food (3 starters) finally arrived I asked the wait staff if there was something wrong as the food took so long and one of the main dishes was served earlier to which the girl replied that the main dish we got was not supposed to be served at our table, their was another table who had ordered it before us. The wait staff did not apologise at all about the long wait and mix-up. When the remaining food arrived, it looked so different form the picture in the menu that I could hardly make out if it was the same dish that I had ordered. When I asked the waitress what the dish was she herself did not know what the dish was and said she will check with the kitchen and let me know. The Spring Onion Dosa had no spring onions, the Cheese Dosa had no cheese, the Paneer and Onion Uttapam tasted horrible and off. The coconut chutney that came with the dosas was off and tasteless. The stuffing's in the dosa were not fresh. By the time the last of the mains that we ordered arrived it was too late and I asked them to make it a takeaway. The staff did not apologise for the delay and provided me with containers to pack it myself after 10 mins. All in all we had a really bad experience and it was made worst by the indifference and unfriendliness of staff. Not coming back again for sure as the food and customer service is really not worth the money you pay for. I seriously hope that the manager realises it and checks this behaviour of staff.

Very impressed with the food. Very tasty, well prepared. Service was pretty good. Nice ambience. Some interesting dishes on the menu you won't find at many (or any) other Indian resturants in Melbourne.

Nice Dosa. We ordered Dosa and other items for take away, it was bit long waiting period but good taste.<br/>We can understand that the restaurant was busy so no complaints about delay.

As soon as I entered into the restaurant it was full house. I thought to take takeaway instead of waiting for table. I was told the waiting period would be 20 mins. I order Idli and Dosa, I waited for 1 hour 20 mins in the restaurant for my food. I checked with one of the waitresses and she said "yeah... I will check" and she didn't come back to me. To my surprise food was ready and ready to be delivered after 15 mins of my order, and staff at the counter didn't care about the take aways. I understand it was busy, if they can't handle the orders they shouldn't be accepting them. Well, about food, Dosa was not warm so obviously it's awful. Idli was okay.
Andrew I Love Food But It Makes Me Fat
I love dosa so was excited b.... I love Masala Dosa so I was excited by a cafe like this opening locally. However the reviews on their other franchise location in Dandenong are spot on. Service is woeful and the food is not much better. We ordered a Masala Dosa and Malai Kofta along with two breads. My dosa came over half an hour after we ordered and when we said we were waiting for the kofta etc the waitress just said "it's coming" as if this was perfectly normal. No bread came. I finished my very ordinary Masala Dosa and after another 15 minutes the rest arrived. The food was bland. The coconut chutney accompanying my dosa was pretty tasteless. This place is a franchise with many outlets in India and I think this explains a lot. They claim to have a huge number of dosa variations and included in these are Chinese and Mexican dosa and (easy stomach) American Chop Suey Dosa! The "Mexican" dishes on the menu have no guacamole, no beans, no salsa -nothing remotely Mexican. It seems that adding grated cheese qualifies it as Mexican. My guess is that in India not many customers know much about Mexican food so this gets by. And this goes for many of these other supposedly regional variations (Chinese, American etc). This is the McDonalds of Indian food but unlike McDonalds it's terminally slow. My advice for anyone wanting a good dosa is to hop on a train to Flinders Street station and pop across the road to the Indian Restaurant Flora. You'll get your dosa quicker and it's much much better.<br/><br/>Postscript. I notice that this Restaurant has a technique of countering poor reviews by organising lots of puff pieces. The reviews that say how wonderful the food is are usually written by people with only 1 or two reviews and always say how wonderful the place they review is. Many sound like they were written by friends.
