Review Labbaik - Preston

Holly Arledge
The greatest haleem and biryani from Hyderabad in Melbourne. You must try, especially during Ramadan!
Gaurab Bhandari
Have been going to Labbaik since 2010 and still love the Biryani till date. Must visit if you love authentic Hyderabadi Biryani!

They have good food no doubt but need to improve(big time)their hygiene ASAP , and i git hair in my food second time, they only accept cash no efptos machine really disappointed, saving tax on big time from government which is not good because this is really busy.

Authentic and Best Hyderabadi Biryani and Haleem in Melbourne. A must try especially in Ramadan..

When I first stepped into this place after reading some of the reviews, I was a bit skeptical. There was nothing about this place that offered any promise but my perspective changed after eating their biryani. They say ‘authentic Hyderabadi cuisine’ on their sign board and I completely agree with it.

Real Indian tastey food. Mostly unavailable around this area. The chef Mr. Rasheed had wast experience in this field for a long time. If any one cross the area, better to visit and choose from many varieties. Best choice.
Sabee Kazmi
Great food, a little spicy. Although the best biryani you can find.

The food are prepared fresh and it's really delicious. High end food for average price. Portions are generous too.

This is no fine dining experience but is absolutely the best place for authentic Indian food. The lamb biryani is a standout dish, although the chicken biryani is good too. The entire tandoori menu is to die for and the info-chinese is very authentic too. This is a standing weekend take out for us. Never eaten in but usually quite packed.

One of the Best places in Melbourne you can visit for a real good Hyderabadi biryani. It doesn't have a super fancy ambience, but it is decent. They do have festival special foods like Haleem and Paya during festival season.
I suggest a takeaway if you have a large group.

The best place to have an authentic Hyderabadi Biryani here and it tastes amazing. The biryani is accompanied by Mirchi ka Salan and Raitha. Also the Hyderbadi Haleem is a must try here.
Mobasshera Jabbar
This has the best biryani in Melbourne. The flavours are perfectly balanced and cooked to perfection. This place is most underhyped ,we always order takeaway food and the money is really worth it because the food here is a treat.A must try for those who love good food.

The most awesome place for Indian cuisine especially if you like Biyani & Haleem. Highly recommend !! Few seatings available but could opt for take outs, they have Family pack options too !!
Friendly chef :-)
It lacks a good ambience but who cares if the food is yummmmmm!!
Often go here and never a regret :-)

I have been to north India and tasted authentic biryani and authentic Indian food. This place is as close as I have come to authentic in Melbourne.
But with pros comes some cons. In the beginning the food was served fresh, it was flavor full, it was priced well and the portion sizes were decent, but a few times going in, I have been served not so fresh food (maybe cooked the day before reheated then served) or, before I use to get 3-4 pieces of meat in the biryani, I will be lucky now to get 1 or two small pieces. The worst is the waiting do not be surprised if you are waiting over and hour to get your food. After we were seated we waited 20 min before even getting the Menu. The customer service is horrible, so bad you will be tempted to even walk out, even if you have paid. The owner/cook seriously needs to hire more workers (good ones) and he needs assistance in the kitchen since he works alone . It's a shame because this humble shop has so much potential, and the cook is very talented in his craft, if only the owner open his eyes a little. No eftpos too and no ATM close by.
My advice do not go if your in a rush or have no patients, you have to accept the good and he bad sometimes and its best to get takeaway rather then eat it. This way you can call ahead of time to reduce the wait.

Worth the wait. We ordered Tandoor chicken and Lamb Biriani, Roti and Raitha. Did a phone order to pick up the food. Best Tandoori chicken that I tasted. Rest of food was awesome. Highly recommended. Will definitely buy again.

I do not have words to describe the shitty quality of the food, overly spicy, not authentic, no air conditioning and the conditions inside the kitchen dont look that hygenic

A little backstory. This place is close to my home and I once decided to do a pickup and turned out they only accepted cash. I hate it when businesses don't accept cards for whatever reasons and vowed never to order here. Then a mate at work told me about the best biryani in Melbourne is available in Preston in some place called Labbaik and turned out this was it. The place looks nothing like best at anything though. Hesitant, I ordered chicken biryani takeout the same night for dinner and it was without a doubt, delicious. The flavour of the chicken and the spices was seeped throughout. Cant say its the best here as this was only the fourth place I was eating biryani from. But surely worth a try if you are around here. Deducting points for accepting only cash.

Best biriyani in Melbourne. I just can't get enough of biriyani here! Waiting hours are really long. I went there on new year's eve, had to wait for an hour to place the order, and another 40 minutes for food to be ready. Chef made tandoori chicken for us( he ran out of it), just because he made us wait, and we were the last ones that he served that day! Also got to have dessert made of bottle-gourd. Also had haleem. The food made was worth the wait.

Most authentic hyderabadi culinary experience downunder!!. Most authentic Hyderabadi culinary experience downunder!! Simply amazing indian food.
If you are in a hurry; go for the famous Hyderabadi Haleem and/or Biryani.
If you have patience (which surely will be tested) then go for charminar kebab, tandoori chicken, lamb chops from the Tandoor.. if you are into curries and stirfries try chilli chicken, palak paneer..n many more freshly made curries along side the finest Naans you could have in Melbourne.

The food is worth waiting for!. Before I review this jewel of Hyderabadi cuisine I'll start by saying this, don't go if you're in a rush, don't go if you're expecting waited service, table cloths and if you can call up and order your food at least 30 mins before you get there if you want takeaway. So now you are probably wondering what is so good about this place and the answer is the quality and price. Labbaik has a strong Indian following and you can see that by the clientele going in and out its doors every day. The owner has just renovated this place to cater for the dine in market. All the food he makes is from scratch, no Pataks here, just recipes handed down and refined over time. Labbaik has a wide range of menu items and some of the best naan bread this side of Telangana. When we were there we had a the Dahl Makhani, butter chicken and lamb korma all of which were full of flavour and a generous size with plenty of sauce. The owner also makes brilliant Hyderabadi biryani in either lamb or chicken which has an awesome kick to it. This probably his quickest dish for those who don't want to wait for quality. All in all a great place but be prepared to wait because in the end it is worth it.

Traditional Biryani. Labbaik is the only takeaway food i ever buy, this guy makes everything from scratch 100% authentic and specializing in traditional Biryani NO packet mixes to be seen, fresh clean and cooked on the spot with beautifully balanced natural flavours........This Indian chef is a Master of the art! BEST KEPT SECRET IN MELBOURNE!

The first time u go as new customer. You will be treated very well. After that everything gets worse... The guy who owns it is unhygienic and the place is dirty..plates dishes arent clean.. worst place ever seen.. wont recommend. ..

Overlooked secret. I think the caucasians in the neighbourhood largely overlook Laibbaik because the shop is old and dingy looking but man their loss =p! the food is nothing short of spectacular. Since my first meal here I've judged other indian cuisine by it and nothing I've tried so far has come close!! Everything is spot on but my personal favorite is the lamb korma. When I first started eating Indian most of the kormas were too sweet or tomatoey. This one is balanced perfection. Its got a velvety creamy texture and the flavour is not bland or overpoweringly sweet/spicey like pretty much almost all of them. Seriously I kind of hope it stays a secret because its already quite popular with south asians and gets kind of packed sometimes.

Best Indian in Melbourne. Looks are completely deceiving in this case... very humble shop front but seriously the best Indian food I've had in Australia. Don't go past the biryani!
