Review The Junction Hotel - Preston

Callum Lockrey
Put my pokie ticket into the cash machine and was returned no cash. Approached staff about this and they pointed me in the direction of the manager BIG CRAIG. Easily the worst customer service I have received from any pub I’m my entire life….. and I have been to a few. If your looking for a pub with good atmosphere good staff and good food, steer well clear of this place!

Today Tuesday, 31 May 2022 myself and 55 members of our elderly citizens club the Hellenic Club in Yann Street Preston we had The best lunch We ever ever had at the Junction hotel. We had 10 fish and chips with plenty of chips and plenty of salad. We also had 45 of the biggest Parmas that we’ve ever seen the plate was very very full, All cooked Well while we waited nice and hot. The beer from the tap VB was excellent, Julie and ashleigh and the other staff We’re always with a smile and very very friendly I would definitely take my members there again many times in future . For Julie and ashleigh the chef and all involved on an excellent service on behalf of everybody I sincerely thank you all very much see you soon.

Was one of my favorite venues on Wednesday nights watching there teams play darts, new management doesn't allow there darts to play there anymore, very disappointing cuts out the community involvement that the pub was all about. Trevor

Hadn't been here for a while & was not impressed at all tonight. Should have been obvious enough when we walked in as the place was empty & on a Saturday night! Only half of what the menu was before & half size meals to match, Pork was cheap quality & tough & tasteless & Parma was not even the size of a small plate. My Grandson commented the so called salad looked like the wilted weeds he had seen when he had mowed the lawn for me earlier in the day. Never had to be a member before to get the specials but said we could join but prices won't be effective until next visit, well guess what, there won't be a next visit!!

Your chef and your hotel should be ashamed of yourselves. The 'meal' I was served tonight was absolutely disgraceful. Braised pork belly with sticky soy glaze served with rice and fresh Asian greens - the pork was 1 lump of tasteless, driest piece of pork I have ever seen. There was no sticky glaze but there was half a bottle of runny soy sauce poured over the rice making it inedible. The "fresh" Asian greens was broccolini that was so old the florets were yellow. I will never be back and will spread the word.

Went with a Probus group for lunch. Very happy with the food and service.
Naomi
Unedible food, so much salt on everything, and don't get me started about it all dripping in oil. I think out of 20 meals, 15 of them went basically untouched
Jade
Really bad service, employees did nothing at all and It took more than 25 minutes to bring out a couple of Parmas despite the place being practically empty.

Rude rude rude manager.. they offer 2 for 1 meals on Monday but don't want to give one extra meal for free when we have brang 20+ people here. Will not be back - one free meal just lost you 20 customers.

Have been here a few times over the years now and usually order a pepper steak. Meals are generous serve and of good quality, the staff are very friendly too!

Came today with a group of work colleagues and all we received was rude service from start to finish.
One of the guys ordered the $22 fish and chips whilst 3 others ordered the $12 special and they gave the wrong person the $22 order and didn't even bother to ask. When the person who ordered the $22 plate asked where his meal was they were incredibly rude. The tall slim lady with an accent has zero customer service skills.
My satay chicken and rice had almost no satay sauce on it and I was left eating plain white rice.
Absolute crap.
First things first - This isn't a re-redo of the Moonee Ponds Junction, nor is it another visit to Newport's Junction Beer Hall (apparently Melbourne has a lot of Junctions). Junction #3 is located on the Preston/Thornbury border, nestled in the wedge between the junction of Plenty Road and High Street. It's a cool looking building, a little backwards as the back beer garden is at what I would consider the front of the pub (on the corner), but whatever works for them.

Steak sandwich was cold and the piece of steak was so thin, the roast was dry and everything on my plate made me feel ill even the lemon lime and bitters tasted bad not sure if that was caused by the food. At least the staff seem nice

Popped in for a drink and staff were really friendly. Great location and close to tram. They have a great little outside beer garden with tv and cute funky chairs. Have not tried the menu yet but it looks amazing.
Vivacious Lady
Had the lamb shanks which were on the specials board. They were ok but the meat was a bit dry and didn't really melt in the mouth like a good lamb shank should.
Soulman
The menu has a bit of everything but decided to go with the steak sandwich. Good quality rump and loved the special mayo they use. Good casual dinning.

Use to frequent this pub and loved the food and service. Hadn't been in a while and thought we would try it out again. I had the roasted pumpkin risotto and it was absolutely horrible...gluggy, needed salt, the pumpkin was steamed and not roasted, sundried tomatoes tasted like they were from a jar and the chicken was dry. The serving size was absolutely ridiculous and overly large so much so that you couldn't even tell I had made a dent in it. Won't be dining here again!

We left half way dinner to another place. An overcooked rubber texture processed calamari and a glorified Sirloin steak believe is chewy rump with a funny taste chemical sauce. Enough is enough.

Roasted Vegetable. The dishes was carefully cooked with appealing colour, served with sweet potato, turnip, mushroom, pumpkin, zuccine, beetroot and a bed of spinach with fetta. The master piece was the truss tomato with excellent flavour overall (18/20). The waiter were friendly and capable. The food was far far better than last time.

Why did we wait so long. We go out most Saturday nights and have never thought about coming here. Tonight's meal was one of the best we've had for a while. The service and staff were great. The prices were more than reasonable and the food was very good. Thai beef salad was great. The cha grilled chicken had so many flavours and the kievs were huge. The restaurant ambience was very friendly. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for another place to eat. Well done . We will definately be back soon.

Good.... ish. Great food and staff. Shame about the pokies next door and the advertising in your face while you eat. Ugly and tacky signs in the eating area. Time to lose the advertising people. Otherwise worth a visit.

I went to the junction with my family for dinner on the weekend. The meals were tasty and well priced, staff were friendly and well presented. I'd recommend the junction for a great meal with friendly atmosphere.

Had a great night out at The Junction Hotel. Went witha few friends for dinner & was impressed withthe quality of food & service.
Started with the salt & pepper calamari - cooked justright. Nice and tender a the flavourwas spot on.
For main had the Prime Rib-Eye. WOW what a great qualitycut of meat. They certainly know how to cook a steak - medium rare to my liking and it was cooked perfectly.
After dinner we all went throughtothe sports bar. Friendly warm atmosphere andplenty of tap beers for selection.
Highly recommend anyone tries this venue. Great food, awesome atmoshereand fantastic service. It has surely become my regular as the value is gret as well!

All around great venue.. I have recently moved into the area, and I have visited this venue on several occasions. Every time I have eaten here it has been a pleasure - The meals are great quality, and range from traditional pub food to something a bit fancier if you are that way inclined. The service is great, I am always greeted with a smile by the staff and they are very friendly. The atmosphere is great - All in all this is a great venue and I definitely recommend visiting!

Standards sliding. We've always been pretty happy with the food at the Junction - generally above your standard pub food in both quality and preparation. Our last 2 visits however have been disappointing. Last time I ordered chicken kiev with vegetables. A couple of mouthfuls in, it was obvious that it was undercooked. Clearly, being chicken, I sent it back. A new one came out, cooked through this time but with salad not veggies. Notwithstanding that I ordered veggies because well, I wanted veggies not salad ... I had paid $3 extra for the veggies. Couldn't be bothered raising it because by this time I was starving and over it. Last night ordered a porterhouse with veggies. Veggies ok. Chips meh. 'Porterhouse' was rump. Mentioned this to waitress who checked and said it was definitely porterhouse. There is no way it was porterhouse. Partner had roast port which was meh and had something on the plate which was the colour of a papadum but was actually the crackle. Inedible. Looked like it had fallen down the back of the couch and been retrieved a couple of years later. Waiting staff were lovely but there's a decided lack of care in the kitchen. Will be exploring other options in the area - would prefer to drive a couple of k's further than be disappointed a third time running.
