Review The Sweet Spot Patisserie - Randwick

Oh my goodness!!! The variety of delicious sweet treats is amazing! The Cafe itself is clean and a comfortable place to visit. The staff are lovely and happy to help with any enquiries that you may have. Certainly worth a stop or pick up of some yummy deserts.

This lovely little gem in hidden in Randwick. You walk in and see this amazing display of cakes. I had a coffee here and the service was great.

Stopped for a takeaway coffee and a small "nibble", the macarons were lovely, will be a bit more adventurous next time!

Fantastic desserts and drinks! Grateful they have many gluten free options, and surprisingly the items containing dairy do not affect me at all, even though I'm lactose intolerant. The mango white chocolate torte, lemon meringue tarts and chai lattes are the best. Very kind staff.

Such a cute place to spot by and grab a coffee! There's a great variety of different desserts such as various types of Greek desserts, cheesecake and tarts. I ordered the red velvet cake and it was delicious even though I don't have the biggest sweet tooth. Even though some of cakes are small, they're perfect to share with a friend if you're not the biggest fan of sweets

Yummy cakes, sweets, ice-cream cakes and pies. The staff is always friendly and will serve you quick, friendly and efficient. This place can get busy on weekend afternoons and evenings, but you can of course always choose takeaway. Located in the spot in Randwick with plenty of entertainment options. Great place dor a coffee to catchup with friends before or after a cinema visit. We had an Apple strudel and a summer fruit cake today accompanied by coffees. The cakes where definitely fresh and tasted authentic. The coffees were excellent.

We headed here after hearing good things from family members. OMG - they weren't wrong. Both had flat whites with oat milk and had decided to try two of the most amazing looking cakes and share them. I chose the banoffee, and after one spoonful, there was no way I was going to share it. 😊 Oh, and the coffee was equally as good, and well presented. Definitely be returning here on a regular basis during my stay in Oz.

Wonderful patisserie in Randwick. I have picked up many a cake from here and have never been disappointed. Slections are great, and I love that they have individual, miniature versions cakes as well. Their cakes are light and not overly sweet, which is great. Service was helpful and friendly.

My go to for patisseries, the ambience is very warm and welcoming! The staff are very warm and welcoming as well

I tried the caprioska cake because I loved the colours and it was wonderfully citrusy and light! I will definitely be back!!

Had a cake brought home to me. They all look great and I would love to try all of them (if I could afford the calories) but I ended up trying a chocolate mousse one. I liked that the chocolate shell held well and provided more of a chocolate flavour to the mousse. The mousse itself was layered with vanilla or white chocolate on top and milk chocolate at the bottom. I found it a bit hard to distinguish between the flavours, I feel like it could've packed more of a punch! Overall would try more of their desserts.

Consistently providing a high quality of baked goods including many specialty bakes and treats. Love the mini size they do so I can get my sweet tooth fix whilst trying many of the things on offer.

I have a sweet tooth and I have been here only a few times but I always walk out slightly disappointed.
Interior is nice and their display is tempting for anyone who walks in. We tried a few of cakes and while they look amazing on display the taste isn’t as great as I was hoping to be. Banoffie tart was a bit too dry but my mum enjoyed their tiramisu. I also tried their red velvet but I have had better. My husband tried salted caramel ice cream and he said it was just okay.

Worth trying and since they have a great variety, maybe next time I’ll try something else.

Full of delicious sweets with an allergy friendly menu. There are options for nut free, gluten free, dairy free and vegan. The decor is pretty. It can get a little loud when it's crowded. I had the baked ricotta cheesecake which was very good and just the right amount of sweetness. I will definitely be going back.

Cakes here are pretty nice but a bit on the expensive side. Packaging was nice. A good place to try once but I'd much prefer to bake my own next time.

Friendly staff and always welcome for a chat! The coffee is nice and hot! Great place to just come for a nice sit and drink with a nice slice of cake or yum freshly made biscuits!

Nice patisserie/cafe to visit if you love dessert, sweet treat and coffee. They also have hot/savoury snacks like pies. The venue has calming and homey feeling kind of decor with light beige and baby blue dominant colours.
Coffee is pretty good and I enjoyed it with a petite caramel cheesecake.
Even though petite it’s enough for me because it’s rich and indulgent. A bit too sweet but it’s probably just me.

This cafe on the corner of Perouse Road opens to late and is the perfect spot to order a coffee and cake to relax. We ordered the pistachio and coffee mousse cake. The cakes weren't too sweet and had a beautiful consistency to accompany our coffee πŸ€“

Asked the cashier which she preferred - the chocolate eclair or the rice pudding. She told me the rice pudding and noted that it was more filling too. To me, the rice pudding was well below average. It tasted like it was just rice floating in milk with a dash of cinnamon on top. Hence, I do not have high hopes for their eclair either.

Delicious cakes, colourful and appealing!
Pricey for what you get, but worth it for a treat now and then. (Don't drink coffee, so can't comment on their hot drinks).

A lovely cake shop! There were lots of wonderful cakes displayed in the cabinets luring us in. Wanted some sweet treats for afternoon tea, there was a large range of beautifully presented cakes and so hard to decide on what we wanted. Narrowed it down to the Monsoon, Japonaise, Toffee Profiterole, and Galaktoboureko. All the cakes were delicious especially the profiterole!

This place in randwick is great for a coffee and sweet! They have beautiful patisserie goods, ice cream desserts, macarons and greek desserts. I got a mocha to go and a caprioska - short bread biscuit with lime mousse, lychee and vanilla sponge. Great place and cheap too. They also do freak shakes which i'll have to try

Today is the Chinese Moon Festival. My social network(yes, the Chinese do use social network) was bombarded with images of beautiful moon cakes. This is a holiday to celebrate family reunion. Everybody watch the full moon on the same evening from different parts of the world and even if you are not together you feel that you are somehow connected to each other. On this day, people send super sweet moon cakes to each other just to make sure that our sweet tooth will fall off at the right age in time.

Not being able to join them and having to suffer from the pretty pictures of the moon cakes, I decided to revenge my friends by dropping by this shop and shoot close up pictures of their cakes and post them. It worked! The look of these cakes are great!

I am not a big fun of sweet things though. But there are other things to choose from. I ordered some biscuits and a croissant this time. The croissant was great. Crispy outside and tender inside. The size was quite big, which doubled my sweet guilt. For today as I will taste the biscuits in the afternoon.

Beautiful cakes on offer here. All so beautifully presented and each tasting as delicious as each other. Lovely family run business. Coffee is top notch and very pretty decor.

There aren't many dessert places in Randwick so there's not much to choose from. Wanted something sweet so came here. We got the caramel cheesecake and the baklava. The baklava pastry itself had the texture of dry paper but the filling was nice. The cheesecake was good, nothing spectacular. I would have liked to have tried the pavlova, that looked great but I guess all of it looks great but it's not mind blowing as tasty treats can be! The lady serving us was lovely though.

Quite a lot of pretty cakes are on display at The Sweet Spot Patisserie in Randwick. However, our personal favourite is the ugliest of them all, Banoffee Pie!

Despite its appearance, their banoffee is one of the best that we’ve ever tasted!
Those Who Love To Eat
Really lovely place for a sweet and savoury indulgence, their coffee, quite good as well. If you are anything of a sweet tooth, this place is paradise. I've been here a few times and the quality of goodies they serve is always fresh and tantalising on the taste bud.
The cafe has been renovated, nice to come and just chill with a coffee in hand and a book to read or catch some ray just outside the cafe. The only down side is, you are constantly competing with the sound of traffic which doesn't seem rather enticing at times, especially if you want to hold a conversation, only having to pause everytime a bus drives pass. Probably best to sit inside and enjoy their comfy cushioned seatings.
I came here for a coffee and chicken and leek pie. Just what the doctor ordered. Though I could have easily over indulged in this place.
{ _anne_with_an_e // review }
I had long been wanting to visit this place, but when I finally got the chance, it left me a little underwhelmed. We came here as a large group of 11 people for an afternoon sweet fix, after our lunch at Coogee Pavilion rooftop. There’s an array of sweets on display to choose from, as well as some traditional greek sweets.

I went for the sour cherry & ricotta strudel, but I also got to taste the pistachio & panna cotta cake and baklava icecream sandwich. All were fairly average in flavour and the texture of the strudel and cake were hard and didn’t seem fresh.

The service was fine, and I liked how we didn’t feel rushed or pushed to leave, as our big group sat around chatting for a while.

Pros // lots of variety, eye-catching desserts
Cons // average tasting, didn’t seem fresh

Food: 3/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5

The first time I went was a while ago, but it's nice to come back and see those cakes still for sale and roughly the same price. We got drawn by the macaron ice cream sandwiches in their display fridge, and decided to get them as a substitute for a friend's birthday cake. Baklava ice cream, salted caramel, cookies and cream, Tim Tam, Orange and Chocolate (Jaffa), Mint-~$6.50 each (I think)

Definitely one of the busiest dessert cafe in Randwick. The shop is displayed with lots of cakes, endless variety. Overall, it is good, nothing jumps out though, a bit too sweet to my liking. Just need to go back and try other selections. Lemon meringue was nice if you are a fan

never had a bad cake from here.. the greek galaktoboureko is my favourite. there's a reason why it's so popular as it's such a lovely spot to sit and have afternoon tea.

Worth a visit after dinner in the Spot!Β
Open late to accommodate the late night movies just around the corner at the RITZ.Β
The coffee is good and there is always a huge variety of desserts including some Greek specialities.Β
Never disappoints, worth a visit.

Tried their Banoffie Pie and Pear Ricotta Tart. Both were awesome (esp. the banoffie! Oh I'm in love). I didn't find the service terrible at all, staffs are lovely and polite.

Situated in the heart of Randwick is what many UNSW students, as well as the locals, might call their second home – The Sweet Spot Patisserie. As soon as you step in, you instantly feel the need to stay for a while, with or without the company of your fri

I immediately took a liking to the interiors of this quaint little cafe! Everything looked so vintage and it was definitely classified as pretty. We couldn't stop ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the cake display and it took us too long to decide which cakes we wanted. The lady working behind the counter was extremely patient though and answered any questions we had to ask. After paying and taking our seats, the cakes were delivered almost immediately and we eagerly tucked into them at once.
Overall, my trip to The Sweet Spot was quite enjoyable. I got what I was looking for (not being disturbed) and my macaroons were delicious. I was, however, a bit disappointed in the quality of the tea. If I was served a more gourmet brand, or loose leaf tea, my experience would have been perfect

Terrible Terrible. I ordered a cake for my bday and she. I went to pick it up they said they had sold the cake never order a cake from this place . Very unprofessional !!!!!!

Juice combo's. Tastes healthy, fresh and nice.

Mixed feelings about this place - it's so close to home I pop over to grab a ham, cheese, fresh tomato croissant occasionally at $5 it's a bargain - 9/10 times the french counter girl has gotten the order wrong and I've received sundried tomato, no tomato, no ham...

Skip your dessert and head here!. Popped in here after finding some of the desserts on offer nearby a little disappointing. And what a choice that was!

This place is a charming little spot with a homely style interior. Reasonably priced and absolutely gorgeous sweet foods. Shared a trio of Baklava, Coconut Cake and something else but all three were amazing.

A great spot for families or couples. Will be back and very very happy with this find.

I've been going to the randwick shop for years and never had an issue with them especially with the sweets . The owners seem to have a lot of passion for what they do . I think a new venture always has its small problems they need to fixed . One Sunday I went to both shops and noticed the owner Peter at both . I've seen this guy in action and can tell he's a perfectionist . Trust me you won't be disappointed .

I have no idea what all these people are talking about complaining about this place. I drive over an hour to get to their shop in Randwick around once a month and every single time I go I receive amazing deserts and warm service. I do not know what people expect from a patisserie. If it is busy of course you need to wait, if it is busy of course the employees are going to find it hard to greet you with a smile and cater to your every whim. The prices are very reasonable in my opinion and the deserts always fresh. Absolutely love this place.

Been to the Alexandria site a few times, food is great, beautiful and fresh. The service is less than engaging and probably doesn't live up to the back of house. Coffee is inconsistent. Menus have become gritty and need a freshen up. Could be great with a little more engagement with paying clients.
Phil
The service absolutely is pathetic! I avoid this place because of this. It's a shame as the food is great. It's as though the customer is privileged just to be there. With the cost of living in the eastern suburbs, wouldn't you capitalise on great food by faster service?? I must be crazy :)

A smile goes a long way.... .... A smile goes a long way....

The service at The Sweet Spot would have to be the slowest by far, however I could have easily excused that, if it meant that the staff were lovely.

Bottom line is the staff are awfully unwelcoming & overly arrogant...!!

Won't be returning due to that reason.

Really wanted to like it but .... I was really looking forward trying new The Sweet Spot at Alexandria - picked a sunny day and sat outside - it was 7.30 on a week day morning. No sooner had i ordered than the maintenance man for the building started his electric edge trimmer, then his electric lawnmower then his electric leaf blower. When we mentioned the noise to him, he got very aggressive - staff at the Sweet Spot were totally oblivious. Food and coffee seemed quite pleasant but the lack of thought for customers means we won't be back and have told our friends not to bother.
Amy
I had a great experience at the Sweet Spot. The service was fantastic, the product was exceptional and the atmosphere was vibrant and alluring. I will definitely be back!

Very disappinted. Was so looking forward to trying out the Sweet Spot for the first time. Had passed numerous times and eventually on Saturday made the time to visit. Ordered 2 Beef pies, 2 banoffi desserts, 2 coffees. To give credit the beef pies were lovely.
The banoffi desserts were just awful. Absolutely bland, pastry base so hard it was inedible. Very disappointed as this is one of my favourite desserts. The service was standoffish and superior. Not warm and welcoming. Its a real shame as I would like to have made it one of my regular dessert haunts but unfortunately wont be going back again and certainly wont be recommending to friends. Heres a tip.... be nicer to your paying customers, they might overlook a poor dessert and give you a second visit.
Rosa
LOve it!. OMG!!! I've never been to this place untill last week and now I can not have enough!!! It's just unreal. My favourite till now is the Tiramissu! I need to try all of them! It's how I feel like when I get there haha

Disappointing. The Sweet Spot used to be a favourite hangout, however in recent times it is the slowest service by any business in the spot,
If you want to wait around so long to take away coffee do not come on saturday or sundays....10 minutes for a coffee and the shop wasn't busy...
Mark Russell
Have been here a few times now and the cakes are fantastic. Favourite place for desserts in Sydney!!!!

The Sweet Spot in Randwick has been a favourite of mine to visit over the last few years. The desserts and cakes are delicious and the service is good. However I have sadly been watching the prices increase tenfold and it is just too expensive for what you are getting... A fabulous vibe, great desserts, just an expensive price tag.
Boon Yeo
The Sweet Spot used to be a favourite hangout, however in recent times the prices have been increased many times. The cakes and tarts are still delicious, however the prices are ridiculously expensive for what they are (not precious metal). I would rather buy a full lunch for $12 for a small fruit tart + coffee for $12.
Fefooz
Expensive!. I use to always look forward to indulging in some sweets from the Sweet Spot. I was appalled to go today to find that they have increased their prices significantly. $7.50 for a fruit tart? Cakes are around $6.90 and they are petit sizes slices. Truly dissapointed that they have increased their prices between 10-15% in the last 6 months. Sorry but $7.50 is too dear for a fruit tart. You would think they'd be more aware of the competition down the street!
Rachael B
Coffee is good, cakes and tarts are ok. Look better than they taste. They need to change up some of the items.

Simon Food Favourites review. Tried a few mini cakes and macarons brought over by friends for afternoon tea. Lemon meringue and profiterole quite nice. Would go nicely as a sugar hit with a coffee. Makes me want to check out the other cakes.
Liss
I go here for the fantastic gelato by Sugarplum, whose cafe closed a couple of years ago. I was so excited to find I could still buy it here! All the flavours are wonderful. Their vanilla is particularly good. Love the green tea, raspberry and chocolate chip too.
Rachael
Coffee's over priced but the cakes are amazing and fairly reasonably priced. Charming interior. A real treat.
