Review A Man And His Monkey - Randwick

Have been here a few times and the coffee is starting to grow on me. They use little marionette beans which has a nice strong flavour. Busy local cafe with lots of regulars. Nice option in the area.

Beautiful coffee, as well as delicious food (shakshuka and labneh🥰), and friendly, attentive staff. Love this place!

My happy place!!!! A coffee oasis! The first thing I think about when I wake up is their coffee and the lovely warm greeting I always get !!!! The staff are extremely friendly!!! The food is super fresh, full of flavour and the servings are generous! I like that they have lots of tasty, healthy options. I’m impressed by their delicious vegetarian, gluten free and vegan choices. By far the best hummus in Sydney!!!! Must tries…….The Coffee!!!!!!!! Just the way I like it….. Sufficiently strong, creamy, perfect temperature……!!! I also love the banana and date smoothie (which is vegan) … the Shakshouka, (vegetarian) the hummus shouka (vegan), the avocado smash….. (vegetarian)…. if you want the world’s best choc chip cookie they are on the counter!!! Enjoy it all

We had some seriously delicious food! The staff here is really amazing! They accidentally forgot our food and apart apologising they got us a bottle of sparkling water and a choc cookie, which I found to be a lovely gesture and expression of care for their customers!

Super cute, eclectic little cafe. The staff are so welcoming and lovely and the food is just great. The pistachio croissants are quite the treat too! :)

Delightful service! One of the nicest coffees in the area. Food was divine and they were very accomodating to ensuring the food was gluten free for 2 coeliacs. Will definitely be back!!

This place is in my neighbourhood so easy to get to. It’s not a big space but tables turn over quickly enough so you never have to wait long even during busy times. Good choices on the menu with a Lebanese Mediterranean twist. Great coffee too and nice people behind the counter. You can’t go wrong here.

Service was delightful everyone so well-mannered and polite. Had the israeli shakshuka and it was amazing best I've in a long time. Would highly recommend this place to come and enjoy breakfast.

My favourite local cafe, the guys that run this place are all so nice and friendly, they make you feel really welcome and nothing's too much trouble. I'm a shakshuka lover and these guys do it extremely well with great coffee and juices to match!

Visited for the first time on Thursday 7 August 2014 and enjoyed fantastic service and a quaint window seat. I enjoyed the coffee that much I had to return for a second serving and followed that up with another the next day. Great work guys excellent cafe and the decor is befitting.

I always find Clovelly a little suburban to the home 'hood, but that only makes A Man and His Monkey a perfect fit. There's a sleepy, quiet and low key vibe, if you manage to visit without the nippers joining mum and dad for weekend breakfast. A tiny little shopfront on Clovelly road, it's hard to find a park. There's a cosy, homely feel from the warmth of the service and the eclectic mix of vintage and mostly timber furniture. What I love most, is that there is a middle eastern influence here, featuring heavily, my favourite Sydney breakfast food - shakshuka. There is something so deeply satisfying about rich, spicy hot tomatoes baked with eggs and any variation on the accompaniments. If you've had one or two good ones in this city, you'll be familiar with the heartbreak for a half-attempt at making such a simple, easy and satisfying dish.

This place is now the go-to. Forget Shenkin, their waits and their deep fried halloumi - I did mention the parking but the shakshuka here is insanely satisfying and not to mention, they have nailed the art of making a messy dish look divine. I try the Labnushka - Shakshuka with Labne. Its a beautiful bowl of red and eggs, with labne circling it in nearly a wave-like fashion, quite fitting for a cafe near the ocean, not? Its a generous serve so much-welcomed from those who usually pay extra for quality dairy goods yet often disappointed at the serve. Not here. Topped with greens, coriander and spices, Its not heavy, and honestly quite light. The coffee is strong and delicious and its far too easy to order another.

Really cosy and comfortable, I felt instantly at home. We had the hummus, and banana and pear bread with ricotta and honey. Yum! Really great flavours. Coffee was good too.

Great little place, with excellent service. The food was reasonably priced and delicious and the coffee was excellent. Always love these small cafes as you guaranteed a good experience 😊

Got the Avocado & Feta smash on sourdough and a green juice. Very tasty food and prompt efficient service too. Will definitely be back in the future. Cool name doesn't hurt either.

Good range of breakfasts (my personal favourite is the acai bowl), and the coffee is consistently good. Lots of cakes, home made muffins and pastries, some gluten free options, many made in house. Lots of teas and cold pressed juices, specialty sandwiches and Israeli dishes. Kind of Central European meets Israeli, reflecting the owners. I love the vintage interior. The only think I would like is a salad option.

This cafe was such a pleasant surprise. Having not been able to get a park at other cafe's in the area that I knew of, I ventured up the hill and stumbled across this little cafe. I am so glad I did. I have been back living in Sydney for a bit over a month and this has been my favourite brunch to date. As a "Melbourne Coffee Snob" this is some of the best coffee going around and the food was delicious. I am not a huge hummus fan but I was licking the bowl with the hummus shakshuka! I will be back and will be telling all of my friends!

This is my Mum and Sis fave local cafe so I came along for a visit last Sunday. I didn't order food however my sis got the Israeli breakfast plate which looked amaze and she absolutely loved it. Hubs and Mum got poached eggs and salmon and loved it. I got two piccolos which were very nice. Using Little Marionette beans which I am partial too.

After walking past this place numerous times on my daily runs, I decided to give this ago one morning. Must say for a cool little spot it does a good breakfast. Orders the smashed avocado with danish feta and two eggs. Big helping which is always great but my only gripe with the meal was the use of mint in the smash. Wasn't sure if it went well but other than that loved it. Coffee was decent but I'm pretty picky with my coffee. Vibe was relaxed and the help was friendly and polite. The fact they had the daily news papers was a good touch too.

This cafe in Clovelly has a few outside tables and spacious inside. It's styled with vintage furniture and a chalkboard for the menu. They use bread fresh from the bread and butter project which I like. They have items freshly baked daily; toasted sourdough, croissants etc. From the alacarte menu; there's chia pudding, acai bowl, farmer jo's muesli, salmon bowls, labne bowls, salmon bowls, hummus plates and israeli baked eggs. I got farmer Jo's muesli that was topped with fruit; kiwi fruit, banana and stewed berries. It had yoghurt at the bottom which was a bit plain and needed some flavour. But that's just my personal opinion. I wasn't a huge fan of the coffee, a bit bitter. Atmosphere of the cafe was relaxing, playing some chilled out tunes. Error / I ate before the picture!!

Another little treasure. Coffee here is very good and consistently good. Fresh muffins are amazing. Breakfast options are great. Halloumi breakie yum. Akai bowl is super good.

Wow wow wow wow. The coffee here is AMAZING. Probably the best coffee I've ever had and decently priced too. Will make this my local coffee place from now on. Awesome!

Anywhere we moved in Sydney we would always make our way to this superb cafe, as we got addicted to their beautiful food and excellent coffee and never got bored. The staff is super friendly and always trying to meet my complicated dietary needs. What I really like is the coziness and very chilled vibe. Labne plate and the best Avocado smash with danish feta I have ever had is a must, hazelnut bread with ricotta and honey always makes my taste buds thrilled. It's pretty diverse too as along delicious sandwiches you can get awesome raw sweet treats. One of the best breakfasts in Sydney!

I love, love, love this cafe. The staff are so ridiculously friendly all the time, treating everyone as truly valued customers. On my first visit here I was on a very restrictive diet but was easily and thoughtfully accommodated and given a delicious tailor-made lunch! Since then I have spent many a time meeting with friends, or studying, or grabbing takeaway here, and each time is such a treat. Coffee is excellent, sandwiches are excellent and the carrot cake is incredible!

Went here on a quiet Thursday morning expecting an easy breakfast before heading to the beach. I honestly do not think I've been served by a more rude waiter in Sydney. This French guy told us off for sitting down at a dirty table, didn't take our orders and after waiting 20 minutes I walked in and asked where we order to be replied with "yeah what do you want" looked so unimpressed and angry the whole time and gave us so much attitude. Food literally took 40 minutes to come out when there were only 4 other people there. Average everything - avoid if possible.

The best food (including the delicious carrot cake) and service in the East. Everything is unfairly tasty and servings are generous. The coffee couldn't be smoother. A Man and His Monkey beats local favourites like Three Blue Ducks and Bake Bar with ease. Do not overlook it because of its size; what it lacks in tables it makes up for in heart.

We're Clovelly locals and almost without fail we come to this cafe every Sunday. One of the best coffees in the area - as good as TopHat cafe closer to the beach. The food is brilliant here. Sandwiches you'd expect at an NYC deli. Don't miss The Cuban. Another unheard of thing you get here is ice water. How's that for a nice change instead of the usual warm tap water other cafes serve up in Sydney? The food is very well priced and worth every cent. Fantastic friendly staff top it all off. Don't miss it.

Incredible!. This new cafe has to be my favourite. I am quite fussy when it comes to coffee, and their coffee definitely is the best! It certainly doesn't end there however.... the other drinks and food on offer are all incredible. Being a regular, I've tried a lot them!
I would definitely recommend the iced coffee, particularly on a hotter day! (absolutely amazing - and without ice-cream, which i prefer).
The banana and date smoothie is absolutely phenomenal. So is the hazelnut milkshake.
Possibly my favourite food item I've had there is the Satay Chicken Sandwhich - I have developed a bit of an addiction. Second best is probably haloumi and poached egg or the pulled pork (they're all so amazing that it's difficult to pick!)
Also the muffins... which change on a daily basis... I get one everyday and I am yet to have one I haven't enjoyed.
The egg and bacon panini is to die for. And the muesli bowl!!!
Safe to say that everything is incredible there, along with the owners, Tom and Eli! (seeing them makes my day).
Wifi is free and really fast as well - which is an added bonus.
