Review Eggshellent - Randwick

I ordered a massive breakfast and I would like to say I can’t complain about anything at all as it has exceeded my expectations. If you are two at least you can share it as it’s really a well-served portion. Their coffee is also excellent. 10 out of 10 if I had to choose at any competition.

Got the Avo Nice Day and it is one of the better avo toasts that I've had! The Vietnamese iced coffee was also really good, strong coffee flavour. Great cafe overall I would totally come back.

visited this cute cafe and ordered a 'spider benedict' 🕷 soft shell crab, poached egg, squid ink hollandaise & caviar seated upon soft brioche... absolute heaven in a bite 🤤 the crab was fried n crispy, super generous with servings and loved how they presented the crab fairly whole instead of just random chunks of mystery meat 🦀 the egg was perfectly poached, runny & smooth, and squid ink hollandaise was such a unique touch! all tied together with a bountiful amount of popping caviar and warm bun 🥰 just so so good!! i also ordered a taro latte on soy which i loved as well! the taro flavour could be a little stronger for my tastes, but it was sweet and soothing, and the addition of soy milk didn't thin it out either! 🍵 eggshellent cafe has vintage antique vibes, and fast, friendly service. all 10/10 from me! ☺ check out my food insta @erinxeats for more!

The Veggie Paradise was truly excellent. Wilted spinach, grilled halloumi, poached eggs and other elements cooked to perfection. Happy breakfast for me 😀

I never knew this place is this good 👍 The best cafe in Randwick. The food was excellent, and the staff members are so friendly. Definitely visit over and over again. (The soft shell crab burger! Yum! highly recommended 🤯🚀😘)

Really good coffee and friendly service. The food is amazing with reasonable price.

OK but not fabulous. When we went they didn't have any tea! They had "Berry tea" which they said was black tea but...... Perhaps they were just changing hands? The food was good. The staff nice.

Our dinner at Eggshellent was great. We had a couple of pizzas with a Miso base rather than the usual tomato. Both the mushroom and the teriyaki chicken pizzas were really tasty and the seaweed on the chicken pizza was an excellent topping. I also loved my white chocolate drink which was creamy. The chai latte was also very tasty with a foamy top.

We've had dinner here 3 times now and they never disappoint. Great variety of pizzas and pastas to choose from, lovely and friendly staff and being vegetarian, always willing to whip something up that might not be on the menu .

Having brunch and dinner here all the time and it is never disappointed us. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The food is absolutely fresh and amazing. Love the vibe of such a busy local coffee during the day and for cosy dinner at night time. Highly recommended for a lovely spot to spend time with friends and family.

The owner is super hot. But the food and decor is out of this world. Great chef and hostess Phebie. Mr Lee has brought together a little gem in Randwick! !

I tried their breakfast fare and I was honestly not that impressed. However, when I tried their miso-based pizza, it was absolutely AMAZING. I highly recommend coming here for dinner.

We were looking for something special and found it. Beautiful food and great service, the smoked salmon fettacini will keep me coming back every time I am in the area, and having pesto homemade pasta on the kids menu was a major winner with my girls, thanks guys xx

First brunch and first reunion with Mr Yu since the lock-down. The soft shell crab is very unique. Avo toast w/ falafel is classic and flavorful!

The sign outside their shop says “Randwick’s best coffee, money back guarantee” I truly agree with that. 🤓 Their full body coffee is rich & aromatic, esp when you order a black coffee without adding sugar & milk, you can really tell the difference. Love their coffee and even the little cookie that comes with it.

Food was tasty in good portion size. There’s a extensive menu with Italian inspired dishes as well as Asian fusion mains. Poached eggs were all cooked perfectly & presentation was also egg-cellent for IG. 😃

Egg-cellent food, coffee & service. They are definitely in my list of favourite cafes. 😍

Are you kidding me??!
I purchased a bacon and egg roll this morning and ate some on my way to work. I thought the bread tasted a bit sour but after biting in the bread the bbq sauce took over so I couldn't taste the bread much. When the meal was starting to taste gross again I took the bread out of the bag to notice THIS! Overgrown mould.
I'm sure you guys wouldn't serve this on a plate for someone dining in, so why wrap it up in brown serviettes and in a brown paper bag for takeaway? Did you think you could get away with it??
There is NO WAY the chefs making this would not have realised.
I'm extremely disappointed and angry, 100% never going back and I'll make sure all my friends and family in the area never go there again

Four of us lunched on a sunny Sun afternoon in late April. I was a tad disappointed though, expecting more cafe-type food, such as plain or toasted sandwiches, wraps, light meals etc and not really expecting such high prices. They did have some rather dated looking sandwiches in a glass display case under the counter, but they didn’t look appealing.

Eggshellent don’t have their own website with a menu, so in choosing it as a venue to take interstate visitors, I had relied on the menu on “TheFork’s” website, but that’s obviously an out-of-date one. The only current accurate online menu, as far as I can see, is on this website, but it’s difficult to read.

I found the real menu at the restaurant, a bit difficult to get to grips with, as it didn’t seem to follow any particular order, and similar dishes were not grouped. It looked more like a dinner menu than a cafe menu.

But having already booked and made the journey from Vaucluse and picked up our guests, we pushed on.We ordered two chicken burgers ($16 each), a chicken curry ($18) and a vegan bowl ($17) plus a couple of coffees. After our 25% Ent Bk discount (up to max $30) that all came to $64. Without the discount it would have been a hefty $85, which i would consider too expensive for a light lunch with coffees on a Sun afternoon.

Food was generally enjoyable, but without being spectacular. It was all well presented, fresh and tasty. My chicken curry came was matched with sweet potato chips, which was a bit of an odd combo. The burgers all came with a serve of crunchy chips in a little basket. The vegan bowl had a nice chewy piece of halloumi in it, plus a dollop of seaweed salad, mushrooms, cabbage, avocado and two middle eastern style dipping sauces. It was probably the best dish of the afternoon, healthful, nutritious and neatly arranged in a colourful bowl.

Service was polite and friendly and the food came out quickly, which was a big plus.

Ambience is casual and laid back, in a warm and homely environment, although a tad noisy with a family of two adults and two kids sitting at the table next to ours and making a bit of a racket. It’s all wood, steel and glass, which doesn’t help the acoustics, but luckily for us though, it wasn’t overly full, so once said family left, it became quieter and more relaxed.

There’s a single unisex toilet out the back, sharing a small space with the untidy and messy store room, as you can see from the pic I’ve posted. It’s not a great look, and makes me wonder about how this place is managed. Still, I was grateful that they had a toilet at all. It was clearly signposted and well provisioned.

Eggshellent is on busy Belmore Road, not far from the intersection of Alison Road. Parking is always a challenge around here, I didn’t even bother looking, heading straight for the nearby Royal Randwick Shopping Centre, about 10 minutes walk, and where you can get two hours free parking.

Overall, we had a pleasant lunch and it all ran smoothly without any hitches. The coffees were decent enough, but the food choices were not really to my liking, so I’m not sure that I’ll be rushing back for another meal.

Friendly staff, great food. The juice is very fresh and tasty! Loved it! I ordered the veggie bowl and it came with so much food!! It was excellent!

A little cosy cafe in Randwick area! Defo gives you home sweet home feelings, it is never too busy but a lot of locals do visit here for their great coffee and food.

I like how their coffees are served with a small sweet biscuit, it pairs well with the coffee itself! There is also a creme brulee latte which is quite interesting. Very sweet but very different!

About the foods, I can definitely say their homemade pastas are the best! The texture is out of this world, you can't find anything like that anywhere.

Overall, a very nice cafe with good foods and drinks and welcoming staffs! Just if their food can be a tat cheaper (the food can go up to $18-22 currently) to a $12-15 range for most of the food, that would be great!

(Also, moved away from Randwick makes me miss Eggshellent a lot!! Will try and go back and have some of their brunch and pastas in the future!)

Loving the ambience of this place! Their coffee was okay but I like the biscuits that came with it. But, The vietnamese iced coffee is amazing. I had the spider’s benedict for breakfast once - which was alright. I also tried their prawn linguine - it was quite delicious!

Cute little Randwick cafe!
The coffee wasn't outstanding but I loved the food. Simple and delicious.
The ambience was great - good atmosphere without being too busy.

We tried this restaurant and they had a good review. The dish of the night was the prawn spaghetti. Very nice sauce and I think they make their own pasta. My husband ordered chicken parmigiana but the mashed potatoes was so bland, not creamy as expected and no seasoned so it was a bit let down. However, the chicken parmigiana was divine and so moist.
Next time we might have to request the mashed potatoes to be creamy. Will we be back again? The answer is definitely !!!!

How eggshellent is this?

Visit by invite.

Came on a Sunday at 1pm. It wasn't very busy, however, that day there were some pretty severe roadworks happening which blocked off A LOT of public transport traffic, which may have explained the low numbers.

The cafe is small but cozy. Little trinkets and antiques sit by the windows and shelving that really give it a timely feel.

I enjoyed the food. We got the fritters and the Spider Benedict. The fritters were lovely, nothing to fault. The Spider Benedict was really nice too, however it lacked the "bitter" greens that would have really balanced the rich roe and squid ink aioli. The name also says Benedict, but it was more like a burger.

I had a Matcha latte with almond milk, but it was really sweet, so I believe they use the matcha powder with the added sugar. They use Vittoria dark roasted coffee, which was nice with milk.

Recommendation: Definitely go for coffee!! ANY COFFEE!

A nice modern style cafe with quite a thorough menu. We had the fish of the day and the slow cooked lamb. The barramundi was nicely cooked and a decent portion was served. The mash and veggies were decent. The lamb however was a total let down. It was dry and the shape of the piece was very unappetising. I thought it would come with some gravy or sauce, but it was just bland and reminded me of jerky rather than a nice moist piece of lamb. The whole dish was thus very eh and needed to be drowned in salt and pepper.

I feel like a rating of 2.5 is more accurate.

My husband and I came here for a drink and there was a nice buzz in the cafe with seating inside and out on the balcony.

Staff were friendly but they gave my drink to the table next to us and so my drink took ages to come out. My veggie juice had a good kick of ginger which is what I wanted and my husbands frappe was refreshing but he thought it was just too weak in flavour.

I’ll come back again to try their food as they seem to have pretty good reviews!
Anna
Wide variety on the menu for a cafe lunch menu. I had the okonomiyaki pizza which was was different and had good flavours. The brunch food (corn fritters and soft shell crab burger) were alright

I got the chance to win a competition on instagram and i won a brunch for 2 at this cafe in Randwick. They are serving breakfast, brunch and dinner.
It is a cute place. Not huge so not too noisy which is something i really appreciated. We grabed a seat on the stools near the windows where you can eat quietly looking outside.
So i had the chance to try one of their fruit juice with watermelon very refreshing, perfect for Summer. Their latte was also very good.
As main we took the beed burger which was good. Not the best beef patty i have tried si far but still a nice burger for a reasonable price. And i ate the salmon with roasted veggies and mash potatoes. And this was perfect. It is very hard to get a salmon perfectly cooked but here it was the case. Just tender and juicy as i like. The portions are huge ! Perfect for a late lunch.
I am looking forward to coming back there to try their pizza and their main dish with lamb.

A trendy little café, new to Randwick. Service was friendly and the food came out really fast. Coffee and chai latte was great. We ordered the chicken salad and corn fritters, both of which were really good. I'd happily go back and try some more options.

Brekky ninja !!

A small cafe in Randwick serving up stylish brekky and lunch dishes but at night they serve up carb loaded dinner with pasta and pizzas.

A must try are their corn fritters and the Asian inspired pizzas which i missed out on.

Until next time ... keep eating!!

Well located cafe with a good amount of seating. Friendly service and amazing food. So happy I got to try this fantastic cafe, the coffee was spot on and just what the doctor ordered. Highly recommend the corn fritters, I opted to have salmon with this dish and it was superb. Portions are massive. All in all this cafe was a winner 😉
Food Queens Of Sydney
This cafe is located in the heart of Randwick and the food was so delicious!
We highly recommend the Veggie Brekky and Haloumi and the Eggshellent Corn Fritters.
The portions here are also massive so make sure go hungry 😋

Relaxed atmosphere, though the chairs don't invite lunch brunches. Friendly staff, food is good. As the sign outside says: Tuly the best coffee in Randwick!

Really enjoyed the breakfast. Great coffee and service and well priced. I had smashed avo with poached egg and salmon, friend had steak sandwich. Both meals arrived quickly and were yummy. Small biscuits with the coffee were a nice touch. Will return.

First time in Randwick, the shop catched my attention with its beautiful design and atmosphere. Had coffee and a lemon tart only for I had an appointment. The best coffee that I've had for a long time. Staffs are also friendly. Will be back for proper foods later

This shop just simply amazing. Soft shell crab benedict is amazingly awesome. We came back for Friday night, the place was packed but service is quite fast, tried the oknomizaki pizza, that is unbelievably tasty. My partners has the fish of the day, just fresh and good portion
