Review 18 Gram Espresso - Randwick

Mike R
Be aware that the coffee here isn’t good and all the good reviews were from before (other staffs who left already) The owner (Chinese lady) is very rude and always argues with customers. This morning I came and she was arguing and shouting to her staffs. She was harassing them! No wonder the cafe is quiet. They just survive because it’s in the Main Street in Randwick. Rude owner doesn’t deserve customers.

OMG one has to visit this happening little cafe! With a NEW OWNER..great coffee..pastries and exceptional service....don'the walk past without having a coffee and a snack. Maria brings her hardworking ethic and adds love and talent and sprinkles it with her Latin charm!!! You will not be disappointed!

I get a great once a week macchiato and it is very good. Yesterday even better when I left my wallet with a large cash sum in the café. I return today and my wallet is returned with all money! Very grateful! Good coffee and honest people.

You'll travel the world looking for coffee as good as at 18 grams. Currently trying to find a satisfactory substitute while in Auckland - no one even comes close. Coffee, service, efficiency - these guys have it all down to a fine art. The free mini biscuit is just an additional bonus!!!

This review is meant for the new one that has opened in Stanhope Gardens. We thought this would be a cute little place to have lunch but it definitely wasn’t. I had ordered a regular sized hot chocolate. At the counter they had 3 sizes of cups for take away but two sizes for the have here size. The two cups that were sitting in the have here sizes were small and regular and nothing but take away for the large. When I had received the hot cuocolate it was in a very small cup. I had asked if this was the regular size and the waitress stuttered a little and said yes - but it wasn’t. Other people around us had bigger ones... I was given a small but paid for a regular. In addition to the super small cup (which btw I had finished my hot chocolate within 1 sip no joke it was fkn small) we had waiting 35+ minutes for our lunch (proven by our commbank notificatkon). I had ordered the waffle whilst my two friends ordered a small bowl of chips each. As we were waiting for our food, other people we could hear complain about how long they had been waiting (mind you we had arrived before them too) and at one point the customers sitting on our right was given a food that was apparently not hers, to which they continued to then pass over to the customer to our left the same plate of food... after the person on the right had already started to eat it and she realised it wasn’t the food that she had ordered. What a joke of a place. And apparently unhygienic. Seems like we got our 18 grams worth of services. Thanks!

Probably one of the best coffee joints on Belmore road. Bit small so can be hard to get a seat but coffee is great. Food menu is limited but of good quality.

I get my macchiato here once a week and it is very good. Totally love the complimentary cookie too. Nice and thoughtful service. Always a good experience coming here.

Very good MULE Coffee! Small enough space to be quaint and well served! Friendly service and good music ( at least when I went in)

Came in for a coffee yesterday and it was really nice to sit down and enjoy the coffee. Came back today to have a good breakfast. We will definitely come back again next time we are in Sydney (from Brisbane).

Best coffee I've had. coupled with the passionfruit biscuit it's exactly what you need! Once or fifteen times a day. Well Done team ✌️

Coffee this morning is awesome. Great punch! Arigato^^

Very friendly team, quirky cafe and the BEST coffee in Sydney! Thank you.

This place is located in the food court of Westfields. 18 grams make one of the BEST taro/matcha lattes and French toast I’ve tried. The French toast is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, also made with the perfect amount of sweetness!

This little coffee shop/cafe has had a facelift with the new owners since I last visited. Cappuccino ($3.50) was well made using Colombian Connection Coffee with a good hit of flavour. Barista used to work at Brew Collective on Bridge St. Always nice to get a little biscuit treat with the coffee. I found some of the tables could do with a bit of levelling to make them less wobbly. Well located for a coffee run near Woolworths and Coles around Randwick Junction. Service friendly and little tables make for a cosy dine in coffee stop.

Not to be confused with the bigger and more-pretentious 22 Grams Roasters nearby, the smaller 18 Gram Espresso packs just as much punch with their coffee in a humble and tiny space.

The service is undoubtedly 10/10. No question. It’s a small place and the owner (?) appears to be at the helm every time I visit. She is extremely friendly, bubbly and very hospitable. This will be evident to you when you visit. Her staff are clearly trained by her, so are equally pleasant. I was running short on (Lurpak) butter with my Banana Bread ($4) and they noticed this, and asked whether I’d like more. This kind of service is few-and-far-between in greater Sydney; well done.

As far as the coffee goes, it’s good. It’s no craft-roast OTT single origin blend, but it’s good. They serve Columbian Connection Coffee; never heard of it but, it’s bold, strong and with nutty notes. Recommended. It tastes stronger than you’d expect from a single shot.

The ambiance is great; usually filled with a few regulars and good music.

The food is an unknown which I’m not game to try. You should try it, and tell me whether it’s good.

You should definitely try the coffee here, and see why the locals love it.

I used to love this place, for the coffee in particular... when I went recently I was pretty appalled with the service and what I got for breakfast... the description sounded good but it was so simple. Anyways I did read that their are new owners and explains why they've gone downhill
Muse-to-Dine
i have been going to this place only because of the previous owners. Now that its changed hands- service has gone down dramatically. I had on 2 occasions had to up and leave due to poor table service and wait time..im not going back. better off trying Jamaica Blue.

It has been a very long time since I ordered food at a cafe in Sydney that I simply could not eat, even though I was extremely hungry.

The egg spinach and bean wrap tasted of absolutely nothing, which is an achievement, since ordinarily each of those ingredients when eaten separately do possess a distinct flavour. I made my friend try some to check if it was just me, but he agreed that it was mysteriously devoid of flavour.

My friend had a flat white coffee, which was apparently perfectly okay. So if you are just having a drink, this place could be okay. But avoid the food!!

For me it's standard stuff but the pluses is the food comes out quick and the big breakfast I feel has a little bit more like haloumi in it than other big breakfasts

Located on the Randwick shopping strip, 18 Gram Espresso is a grungy little cafe decked out with hessian sacks, graffitied walls and crates and little wooden tables. They offer Ona coffee which I didn't particularly enjoy, as I found it quite bitter. Served with a complimentary cookie which is a nice touch.

Popped in here for the morning coffee - got a cappuccino and an english breakfast tea. Both were good and they gave us little cookies to go with it. They serve food like eggs and also protein balls, croissants, muffins etc. Staff were nice and service was fast.
This is 1 of 2 places where the coffee is half-decent in Randwick. They kind of have the monopoly which might explain the rather bland service. Quaint little cafe though with nice wood theme.

Definitely one of the better coffees in Randwick is found here. The berry and white chocolate muffin is amazing! I've only ever ordered takeaway (worth a note: you receive a yummy little biscuit on top!) since the cafe itself is pretty hot and cramped.

Adrift in Randwick and thirsting for a coffee at the uncool hour of 4pm, 18 gram espresso came to our rescue after everyone else had closed. Good coffee, friendly staff and a fun vibe saw this little cafe ticking all the right boxes.

This place is now our favourite for great coffee. Consistently excellent and the staff are always friendly and attentive. Well done guys! The decor is inviting and the food options are small but what i saw coming out looked very appetizing.

Cute place. Was in a rush and had to grab something quick before taking the train. The place looked very aesthetically pleasing and the service was friendly. I didn't get a coffee but I quickly bought a fruit salad. Was only $4.90 and fairly large. Loves it. Definitely gonna get a coffee next time, since I hear they're good at it.

Attentive service and great wall art were what captured my imagination as I stepped into this venue.

However, while well sized the coffee wasn't much to write home about.

Being the avid muffin taste tester in my family, I would definitely give the 18 Grams Raspberry and White Chocolate muffin my big tick of muffin approval! It had a balanced sweetness and was not overly buttery or heavy in texture, which I find to be the problem with some unloved muffins. This was a great ‘dessert’ choice for our breakfast.

Nice place to chill. Tucked away in the craziness of Hurstville is a nice tiny little cafe which wouldn't look out of place in your funky inner west suburbs. It's a nice quiet place to just take a breather, read a book or just catch up with friends without feeling you need to scream to be heard.

Environment aside, the coffee is also of high standard and there's even an serving size for less milk (which I'm particularly fond of).

18 Grams is located in Hurstville Central, the shopping complex above the train station. This cafe is a refreshing addition to Hurstville as the owners take great care in their service and product. Each coffee poured is done so with a lot of care to detail as well as passion by the young owners. The cafe serves a limited selection of breakfast items including sandwiches, baked goods (from sweet poison and various other patisserie houses), and each coffee is served with a welcomed cookie. The bean blend is unique with notes of chocolate, creamy caramel tones. A coffee from 18grams is written in my daily routine after a gym session.

Best Coffee in Randwick/Coogee Hands Down. I love coffee. I love trying variataions of coffee but also enjoy going back to my old favorites. Having tried just about every coffee shop in Randwick and Coogee 18 Grams wins by a country mile.

Reasonably priced and fast and great service. Only place that comes close is 22 Grams around the corner however the last two times I have tried there 18 Grams has left them in the dust.

So good that whilst writing this review I have decided I need to go get a coffee :)

Great little coffee spot.. Probably the best coffee in Randwick.
Bean has a beautiful, strong smokey flavour. Staff are friendly. Coffee comes with a cute cookie. Milk is textured [almost] perfectly. Prices are decent.
For coffee I`d give a 8.5/10
As for atmosphere, the seats are tiny but the shop outfit is nice; 7/10
In terms of food, for the dollar value 9/10, but for quality it'd be 6/10.
Highly recommend for a brew.

I love coffee there, and the little cookie always makes my day!!!

Good coffee. Great little hole in the wall cafe on the high street in Randwick. Coffee is fab but the chai lattes could be better (probably due to the mix they use). There is an option to sit down and enjoy your coffee and meal but it is small and can get busy (especially on Sat and Sun morning) so I recommend take away.
Belle
Consistently great coffee every time!

Really great soy lattes!
