Review Ria Sari - Randwick

Fitri Handayani
The price of Nasi campur is the cheapest in Sydney, i think، the steam rice is quite a lot. The best menu is nasi lemak، best fragrance, taste, and big portion. My girl loves it.

Ria Sari is hit or miss to me. It's delicious Indonesian food, but sometimes the buffet (i.e. the food from the hot bar) can taste a bit old. If you get it on the day that it's freshly made, it's A+++. Only caveat is rarely you can also get short diarrhoea (some of the spices probably did not agree with me), but the food is so good that it's worth it. The decor needs a bit of updating though!

Do not order the laksa. The rest of the food is cheap but pretty ordinary too.

Very reasonable pricing. Family run restaurant. Beef rendang was amazing.

This is a very nice authentic Indonesian food. Not sure about the hygiene part because I took 2 oz friends here and they had stomach ache afterwards, however it never happens to the Indonesians. They never overcharge me and instead give me a very generous portion. Food is very nice, tasty and cheap too.

the food here is delicious & nutritious, and in this time of lockdown they could use our support. pop in and give em a try. the eggplant or the liver & beans is great.

Decent. . Opens very early or before 11. There is a menu but most people eat the curries etc in the bain Marie / warmer....Padang style 3 dishes for $11. Not too spicy or strong flavour but pretty nice. Restaurant itself is non descript and a bit old.

This grungy place with a small nasi campur selection looks straight out of Indonesia. No rendang so I got some fish, which was overcooked but ok with an impressive sambal, and a couple of veg dishes with little flavour or interest - there seemed a good veg selection but I think at least one of my veg dishes had some random pieces of meat, which is common in Indonesia but can fool the vegetarians. It's cheaper ($10) than the good places around Kensington but I think it should be even cheaper, basically the equivalent of the $1 warungs that it resembles.

Knew this place for a long time but never had a chance to give a try. Since my hubby must stay at Prince of Wales hospital so i could manage to go to this place which located just walking distance from hospital. Even it’s said “Padang food” but i thought the food not really Padang, it’s typical home cooking food. Price very cheap considering the place is in city! I had combination rice (rice+3 dishes) for dine in cost only $8.5 and bought nasi tim home for only $9. Food taste was okay but not overwhelming and mostly are sweet (even my telur balado was sweet). Nasi tim taste good it’s quite different than nasi tim i found in Indonesia, it’s dry (without extra soup as a side) and the egg was fried. The nasi tim had generous mushroom and chicken, the nasi was well-cooked with balanced sweet&savoury.

I know the owners who were my customers. They came to the store I worked in my previous job. My uncle and auntie said that the food was yum, however the restaurant sold Singapore food at that time in 1986. I went to buy take away from them since I left my previous job. I felt comfortable to eat there as it had casual environment.

I love how simple and tasty their food is. The stand out for me are ayam sambel, opor ayam, and their giblets and beans. It's a great home-cooked style food that will make you miss home!

I did not think this place still exist in 2017!!! I regret for NOT visiting this place during our last trip here...i think the last time we came in around mid 2000s the owner still recognize me... Well i used to go to university in Wollongong so when i am in need of descent Indonesian food i have to take the 1 hour or so drive to Sydney... and even though there are many Indonesian food in the Maroubra/Randwick area at the time (mid 90s) this is the place that i chose most of the time... the rice with 3 dishes was always there to satisfy me...

This restaurant has been around for years. It is one of our to-go restaurant and we have been happy with their food. I tried their 3-choices meal with rice. Love it especially the corn fritters. If corn fritters are finished, it seems something is "missing" from my 3-choice meal. I also have tried their food as per the menu on the restaurant wall such as Bihun Goreng, Nasi Uduk, Nasi Tim, Gado-Gado, Kwetiauw Siram. Highly recommended ones to try when you are at Ria Sari. Don't forget to try their Avocado Juice as well. This is a family business and you will find the restaurant owners are normally sitting behind the hot bar food and they are very friendly.

Ria Sari is one of Sydney's last great ye olde hole-in-the-wall joints. We've watched with sadness as many of Sydney's old style restaurants were closed or renovated over the past few years. These older style places are the ones that give us that travelling feeling, the sense of another place and country, offering a style of food that is made in a homely way. Sighting Ria Sari made our hearts leap and our stomachs dance with anticipation. Old tables? Yep. Sad looking storefront? Yep. Owners sitting around having a friendly chat? Yep. Home made menu board? Yep. We were in heaven. Several readers have mentioned Ria Sari over the years. We didn't know exactly where it to find it, so we went on an exploratory mission up Barker Street one Saturday. Just as well we were in a car as the hill up from UNSW is super steep, and Ria Sari is some way from the main Randwick drag as well. Turns out it is in a small group of shops just down from the hospital. Ria Sari is Chinese-Indonesian, a variatio

Uncooked drumstick chicken curry on Buffett. Bad service, unfriendly face, uncooked drumstick chicken curry, Bakmi ayam not yummy, too oily- I can make better myself at home - price not worth the food value- didn't change the price on photo with current menu price . I won't recommend this to anyone. <br/>Won't come back.

This place is amazing, not a fancy restaurant by any means. It's more of an indo eatery. The tastes are superb and the couple that own and run the place are lovely. Definitely a place worthwhile trying
