Had a delicious meal with the family here. All the staff were happy, welcoming and helpful and the place had a great feel. The food is not expensive. It's quality, delicious food for reasonable prices, for god's sake. We all loved it and will be back again. Keep up the top effort, People.
Authentic and flavoursome American BBQ. Great beer selection and local wines on point friendly smiles all around from the staff. 5 stars . You are on to something special and the huge effort of making quality BBQ is shown. I'll be back
Had a table of 8 booked plus a two year old child for a birthday dinner on a Friday, everyone of us loved it and will be back again. My wife and I shared the brisket and pork ribs with a side, it was some of the best bbq we have had even my little boy was getting stuck into the ribs. The staff where all friendly and the kids play area is great for those with young ones. Thanks for a great night Redgum bbq.
Ahhhhhhhmazing! Everything was delicious, would recommend to all the BBQ meat lovers out there!!!! My fave, pulled pork & mac n cheese!
Greeted warmly from the first moment we stepped in. Food was absolutely delicious especially the brisket and pulled pork combo. Sitting area was casual and relaxed with full view of the smoker. Price is on the high side but otherwise well worth the trip.
I had been eager to come to Red Gum BBQ for quite some time but it has always been booked out... and I now know why! Wow! What an awesome, authentic, family style low and slow BBQ joint! There is nothing around the peninsula that does this style of cooking and I was impressed.
We had the pulled pork, chicken wings, brisket, beef ribs, broccoli salad, colesaw, fries, fried pickle & chocolate brownie. Everything was delicious and I thought it was well priced considering everything is locally sourced and free range! You can appreciate the cost knowing that they are supporting animal rights and local farmers And, all with local wines and beers!
Fantastic afternoon and will be back/a regular!
We had some friends come visit from Geelong and when their down we try to do something different each time. My hubby suggested your bbq for lunch and at first I was undecided however we got there and all loved it. The atmosphere was great the delicious smells coming from inside were to die for. Ordering was challenging because there was lots to choose from so we settle on a few bits and pieces to share. Once the food came out we were ready to start it looked so yummy. It was great, cooked perfect . Yes it was a little pricey but you get what you pay for I think. We will definitely be back.
Ps:- the bean chilli was a hit loved it 10/10
ALLERGY FRIENDLY!
The food is amazing, very relaxed and there’s a play area for kids.
When we went to order I advised staff of our son’s nut allergy. The staff then presented us with a laminated, coloured table. All menu items were listed against all the common allergies. It was so simple to read and was very reassuring. It’s the first time I’ve seen it and can’t understand why more places don’t do it.
I highly recommend red gum bbq!
That was a special feed and what an awesome setup. Have been wanting to come for ever but just never got round to it. Food came out so quickly and service was great. Chicken wings, brisket, pork shoulder ribs, mac and cheese, pulled pork... all unbelievable. I’ll be back
Red Gum is the only place that does decent tasty barbecue on the Mornington Peninsula. They use high quality ingredients such as free range meat and standout by making a lot of their ingredients by scratch (I.e mayonnaise). GF, dairy free and vegetarian options available.
🍽 St. Louis Pork Ribs - juicy ribs with a delightful Smokey char on the outside. Cape Grim Beef Brisket - meat falls apart and melts in the mouth. Has a Texas style rub on the outside which gives it a really nice flavour. Coleslaw - a classic but a favourite. The mayonnaise makes a difference.
If you’re after a rustic and delicious meal look no further than Red Gum.
Forgot to take a photo. Me and my dad went here last year and we loved it! I’d say it’s decently priced. Pork ribs, pulled beef, chips, a beer, 2 coffees and a dessert were about 100 bucks. The pork ribs were my favourite ribs I’ve ever had, the pulled beef was average. My dad had a beer and I had a coke. The beer was large and INCREDIBLY strong. It was about 3.2 average drinks so we ended up getting coffees and dessert. Absolutely amazing. Staff was polite.
EVERYONE... YOU MUST VISIT THIS RESTAURANT!!!
Absolutely fantastic! It’s definitely a 10/10!
The place itself is super cool, I loved it!
Food is delicious, great to share. Drinks are fantastic and staff is friendly, attentive and efficient.
It’s a really unique place that needs to be visited!
We loved red gum bbq!the meat was amazing-could have been a little hotter but nevertheless it was still the best tasting meat!pulled pork was my favourite!
Yes yes yes. Very good bbq food. The brisket was as soft as u will ever see and tasty, Mac cheese great and the pulled pork and buffalo wings all smoked to perfection
LOVED:
🔸Great ribs! Super tasty! Really loved the sauce ❤️ Our group devoured this in minutes
🔸Big menu with a wide range of meats and sides, could really get a variety
🔸Great space and lovely decor, the place was HUGE and there was still a line to get in.
🔸Very generous amount served in the beer paddle
🔸The brownie was super yum, very chocolatey and slightly fudgey, wish there was more ice cream for perfect brownie to ice cream ratio, but that's just my personal opinion
🔸Can cater to large groups, we had 12 people to our table, but DEFINITELY call up first
LIKED:
🔸I really liked the brisket but felt like it needed a little more flavour? I dipped it in the sauce from the ribs
TIP/FEEDBACK:
🔹A lot of items on the menu were sold out or last serving
🔹Didn't offer the group feed me option to us over the booking, so we didn't realise it had to be pre-booked
🔹The food took a little long to come out, especially my dessert, the brownie
🔹The southern fried chicken was on the dry side
🔹Some serving sizes were a little hard to gauge how big it'd be, especially the fried chicken and buffalo wings, the serving was heaps smaller than expected
We had a lovely time here. Service was on point and food was delicious! We had a group booking of 10 - My family walked away with happy tummies and we can’t wait to go back again. The beef brisket was tender, succulent and melt in your mouth soft. Sweet cornbread with honey butter was absolute perfection! Mac and cheese was creamy and the house made sausage was delicious with a mild spice. Everything we ordered, we enjoyed.
A little play area for the kids helped keep the kids entertained, which is always a plus! Highly recommend this place for bbq lovers, families or groups.
We liked it. It’s a very good place. Nice big open space with some deft touches. I can’t tell you how much I love the wood and creepers on the back wall. The meats were lovely, particularly the sausage and pulled pork. Beans were good, the corn was excellent too. Service was lovely and the price well within expectations too. We had a great time and will return for sure.
Came here a couple of times already and the food was great. This time we wanted to try again on a cold night, wonderful! As usual, there were some specials on the menu that were sold out, but luckily my favourite beef brisket was still available. Ordered a few serves and did not disappoint. The sausage was spicy but very tasty and the pork ribs were not bad. The corn bread with the butter was just yummy and the crunch broccoli salad a must try! Overall, the good was great and the cider was just nice to cut the fatty taste away!
The smoked meat restaurant market is saturated in Melbourne, but not on the Mornington Peninsula, so its a nice point of difference to the vast number of wineries you can dine at. Definitely tricky to find as you have to drive into the service station and out the back. Essentially its a giant shed, but doesnt feel cold or uninviting. There are picnic style tables spread out, a cosy couch area and a nice section for younger kids. I had the beef brisket, fries, Philli cheese steak sandwich (a special) and potato salad. All of which were great. The meat was tender, servings generous and I found the prices reasonable. I would compare them to similar places Ive been to (Le Bon Ton, Fancy Hanks, Meatmaiden etc). Just about every table had families with babies or toddlers, yet it wasnt noisy and the kids had somewhere to play. Nice to see more places welcoming families with play areas, making you feel like you can take your kids out and eat a great meal at the same time. I think they could probably squeeze some more tables in, as it is quite popular and they had to turn people away when I was there. They are also super strict with their timings, you basically get 1.5hrs to order and eat and then they start hurrying you up, so just be aware of that in case you or you mates are latecomers.

We really enjoyed our experience dining at Red Gum BBQ. My meat craving was fulfilled with their amazing beef and pork ribs. Nothing else to say about the meat, just delicious, they really know what they are doing. We also had the brisket chilli cheese fries to go with the meat. Another tasty dish!
The overall vibe of the place is really nice as well, there's a play area for kids and hangout spots of beer lovers.
LOVE THIS PLACE!
After deciding on a 90 minute drive to try this place we were not disappointed at all.
The location is behind a Service Station but it seems to be set in an old mechanics or workshop that has been brilliantly converted. This is a place for atmosphere and taste, and sets up hopes for amazing food.
The brisket and most meats are slow cooked in a smoker and the wait is most certainly worth it.
The ales and local produce that are paired together are very nicely done and the seating was fun and best use of space.
The food.....amazing. We ordered 5 mains for 4 adults and really thought we may have over ordered but the portions are a bit too small (a credit to the taste maybe?). The brisket sausage with cheese and jalapeño was a standout, until we tried the brisket sandwich which was just stunning. The pulled pork was prefect, the only let down was the Chicken. We overdid it with the fries that we loaded with chilli, cheese and brisket, but we were full and well refreshed and finished with a great coffee.
It’s quirky it’s fun it’s amazing food, and sets up a nice day in The Mornington Peninsula.
Will be back with a big group!!..
Nice set up guys.
Great experience! You can smell the delicious waft of barbecuey goodness from the carpark. The beef ribs were juicy. The buffalo wings tasted great with the blue cheese dressing. The loaded fries were full of flavour but a little soggy. The only dish that could be improved is the pork ribs. The barbecue sauce was a bit too sweet. Overall- fantastic.
Great food! The meat we had was so tender and delicious. Great craft beer selection and a great atmosphere overall. I will be be back no doubt about it.
Red Rum, Red Rum, RED GUM.
The Dear Luncher did indeed get some well-produced meats at what could be described as one of the finest eateries on the Mornington Peninsula. From the moment you park the car and start walking towards this vast enclosure, wafts of BBQ starting penetrating the nostrils. Once you’re inside, it’s difficult to not be blown away by the way this space has been arranged. The high roof and cavernous space immediately instills a sense of wonder as you get ushered to your table. There was an amazing private dining room area that caught The Dear Luncher’s eye on the way to the dunnies. This would be an incredible spot to bring a bunch of lads for a big fat feed.
A lot of brisket was ordered (300 grams). It was dry in some parts, so a bit of the sauce on hand was applied (the classic ‘rich and sweet’ was the pick of the bunch). For the most part the brisket was luscious and soft; just how it should be when cooked low and slow. The wings (special) were a little disappointing. Not very fleshy and a very tame buffalo-style baste... just a small portion of wingettes, not the full wings as described by the staff. This is an important distinction that often isn’t made. However, the blue cheese sauce that accompanied these wings was sensational. Chunks of the cheese were still lodged in the bottom of the little bucket it was provided in.
Also sampled was the brisket chili cheese fries. Quite a hefty serving of fries loaded with brisket, chili, jalapeños, sour cream and a bit of Spanish onion. There was not actually much cheese on these fries, sadly. However, it was still a good example of well executed loaded fries. The brisket meshed throughout these fries really tied it together nicely.
The beer selections on offer were absolutely first rate. A very good spread of local (Bayside & Peninsula) craft beers. Reg Gum BBQ is an absolute must-visit eatery if you’re in the vicinity.
4.5/5.
Loved this place! Really nice outdoor area, attentive staff and the best loaded fries we've ever had. Brisket and pulled pork were both delicious. We will come back here for sure.
We went with a big group and had to wait for a while past our booking time to get the table ready.. lucky that they have the kids area and the adults happily wait on the bar.. the ambience is good.. the foods are good, what you expect from american bbq joint.. but my highlight is the brisket chilli cheese fries.. sooo goood..
The Beef brisket here is absolutely amazing! The bbq sauces are delicious and the service was fantastic! The venue is clean, vibrant and welcoming
FAST Food Review
Meat, meat and more meat! If this describes your diet, Red Gum is the place for you. Beef Ribs, Beef Brisket and Pulled Pork are all staple and scrumptious. Nice side dishes to accompany your mains and beware of the American sized portions of desserts. Unique ambience with a very well considered kids play area which is very family friendly. I’ll be back!

Great place , great food ! Please try grits from the menu,it’s yum! Brisket and beef ribs are awesome !
Bean salad so so , broccoli salad nice and refreshing, loaded chips are yum ! Probably not a place for a hot summer day because it’s in a shed !
Give it a go you will love it !
In the middle of Red Hill green farms, behind a service station, there is a BBQ Gem for meet lovers. It means, if you are a vegetarian and you decide to convert, start it from here.
If you visit Red Gum, definitely try the chicken and the sausage and the beef brisket and the corn and the pulled pork (even though I didn't eat it, but saw it). You know what, just try every thing, because certainly those guys standing in the kitchen, they know exactly what they are doing.
What's our no. 1 tip for the best experience at Redgum BBQ? Before we get to that, what a find! Redgum BBQ is tucked behind a service station at 87 Arthurs Seat Road, Red Hill. You’d be forgiven for driving past it despite looking closely for it. Once inside the shed, you’ll discover that Redgum BBQ is a glorious, well-thought out space. There is
This spot is enclosed in a large shed (it can get cold in Winter) and it is apparent that it's a family centric venue with kid's play areas. They've got a great variety of beers on tap from local Melbourne breweries some of the locals just come down to wet their whistle.
We ordered a large selection of meats and sides, all of which arrived at once and quickly I may add. Not usually a pulled pork fan as it is sometimes dry but this was not the case, tender and enough seasoning to keep it moist. The beef brisket was okay, it was also tender but I felt that not enough smoke had imparted onto the meat. The beef rib however was the star of the show, falling apart and gushing with juices. It retained a lot of its natural flavours and the sauces on the table complimented the meat, my favourite was their own blend of sweet and mustardy of course!
Pork ribs not sure I'm going to make a fair assessment on these (I had a couple) but they didn't have much meat on them. They were finished off with their own glazing so if you love your dry rubs this might not be for you. Lamb ribs on the other hand I don't think I got to sample as they may have very well landed on another platter down the table. I never order chicken at American BBQ but we ended up with some. My neice didn't finish hers so I just stole her chicken skin, it was pretty darn tasty with all that seasoning they piled on there. Also had some buffalo wings, never been a fan of them but yet again I am tasked to clean out the food.
Sides were solid. Mac and cheese was basic but executed well and didn't feel sickly, very morish. The brussel sprouts were sold out but we ended up with some broccoli salad and coleslaw, sweet and creamy. Chips were standard.
Awesome spot on the Mornington Peninsula, better in the Summer with the outdoor setting. Save some room for dessert, we only saw the signs on the way out.
Loved our lunch here. It’s obviously all about the meat but surprisingly I had the BEST brownie of my life here. Staff were helpful, informative, checked in to make sure our meal was going okay and didn’t force any extra food or drinks on us which I liked. Meat was pretty tasty- not mind blowing but definitely delicious and well worth coming.
Ok first of all, such a cute place! It was a bit hard to find from outside since we can't see a proper signage, but if you see a gas station, the place is behind it. Inside, it is so gorgeous, it is very homey, looks really warm, such a good place for a family to hangout. Food-wise, I think it was okay. The pork ribs was a big NO for me. They were really thin and small. The waitress said, "The ribs were a bit small today so we gave you extra." Which is by the way, a total of 5 piece of ribs that's 90% bones and hard meat. It is really hard to chew.. The beef ribs on the other hand was lovely. It was well marinated, and so juicy. It doesn't look as good outside (see my photo- it's the big black chunk in the middle😂) but don't judge a book by its cover💁🏻♀️ Pulled pork was quite good, my friends said it was excellent though! (I am a hard critique). Chips were fine, the smoked portabellas was superb, but the mac and cheese was a let down. Overall, this was a good experience ☺️
Absolutely delicious! The beef brisket was melt-in-your-mouth amazing!
The chicken was okay, but the beef was soft and tender!
We were also able to watch them prepare the meat in the smoker's as we dined, but just be prepared to get your clothes smelling like smoke the rest of the day.
We didn't mind though.
The large tables made it a great place for big groups and families too.
Fantastic place to get the family and/or friends together and order everything there is on the menu and try a bit of everything. Make sure you book, and don't forget to get a paddle or two and try some of the fine beers available. Atmosphere is great, (although slightly chilly) but it is expected. It is "rustic" themed after all.
Great spot for a casual meet up with friends for tasty eats! The brisket was amazing! I also enjoyed the corn cob, chilli sausage, fried pickles and fries. Needless to say I rolled out of there with a smile on my face! Staff were friendly and service was fast. Highly recommended :D
We had a great experience at Red Gum. Great service, friendly staff and really good food. We had the pork ribs, beef brisket, pork sausage (specials), buffalo wings (specials), brisket chilli cheese fries (must have in our opinion!) and coleslaw. For dessert, we had the chocolate brownie (also another must have!). Will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu.
Fortunately we booked so were seated immediately even though almost all the tables full on a cold winters night. We were welcomed, given a run down of how to order and the specials. After a quick glance of the menu we ordered and literally less than 10 minutes later our drinks and meal was served. We shared a serve of corn, 2 serves of pickles, rib eye and 200grams of pork ribs. All were exceptional so we decided to try the buffelo wings and some fries. Again they came out within minutes and didn't disappoint. We left very full and very content with our choice of dinner. Loved the atmosphere and will definitely be back!
🍖 What's on my plate?
Literally every meat on the menu! 😅
- Pulled Pork
- Jalapeno Sausages
- Smoked Brisket
- Beef Rib
- Beef Brisket Chilli Cheese Fries
- Mac n Cheese
- Coleslaw
- Cornbread
And some amazing Raspberry Cider to wash it all down 👌🏾
.
This joint was absolutely phenomenal! Set up in a massive warehouse, where on one side of the place all the cooking/smoking of the meats happens and literally on the other side is where the communal tables are where you eat it!
.
The food itself was mind-blowingly delicious, like seriously, everything including the sides were just ridiculously delicious. Let me put it to you this way, This was the best BBQ I've ever eaten in my life and I've eaten Real Texas BBQ, honest to god, it's better than that. Oh and make sure to get the cornbread, it's what I imagine heaven tastes like 🤤.
.
So do yourself and your tastebuds a favour and get on down to @redgumbbq, you won't regret it 👊🏾.

Beef brisket and beef rib was 🙌. Love it. The pulled pork i probably wouldnt get again. It was dry and had that bad pork smell. Just didnt match up to the beef.
Everyrhing else including our sides were very good.
Also like the beer/cider tasting
4.5/5
Where's the 4.5 when I need one? Red Gum BBQ is definitely so much more better than just a 4, but unfortunately it does not meet the requirements for a perfect score. Why you ask? The chips, that's why. It was not hot, nor was it crunchy and while the beef brisket and sour cream were fantastic with the chips, the limp chips just didn't impressed me much.
Save and except for the issue with the chips, everything was excellent. The beef ribs and pork ribs just fell of the bone and into our mouth. Full of flavour and wonderfully tender. You know what else was tender and moist? The cornbread. One of the best I ever had. Just the right amount of grittiness from the cornmeal, with a crispy top and buttery texture.
The mushrooms were a surprise favourite - meaty, juicy and well-seasoned. It was a pleasant departure from all those meats in front of us.
The place was packed during the lunch service. We arrived just before 1pm and had to wait for an hour and a half for a table, and by the time we finished our meal, the place was still buzzing. Reservation is a must!
Food was really good, well cooked and marinated, the size of the portions were just right although someone might say they were slightly smaller than standard. Menu is straight forward but a bit too simple with only pork, beef and chicken to choose from and all the food is served in trays to share. Found a bit weird that all items except for mains are priced in the menu, for prices for mains look at the board wall. Also, dislike the order at the counter approach. Good and quick service and small kids play area with toys is useful.
Came here for lunch after a recommendation from a friend and aren't we glad we came.
It's a little bit hidden as it is behind a petrol station, but gives the whole place a little bit of an "exclusive" feel. The ambience is great, big warehouse building with the bar on one and the American BBQ's on the other with large communal tables in the middle.
The food is absolutely fantastic and the service prompt. Do yourself a favor and get a quarter chicken, it is so tender!!!
Come and have a look for yourself you will not be disappointed.
My son (8yo) and I popped in for a meal on a “boys night out.” Went with the pork ribs (first time for the boy), mac n cheese, chilli and fries. It was delicious! The meat falls off the bone. Mac n cheese was, and I quote, “best ever.” But my favourite was the chilli, i could eat that all day long! Well worth a visit!!!
The food was delicious (albeit we order the bbq to be slightly more smoky). The meat was wonderfully tender, and they served some of the best Mac and cheese I’ve had.
The atmosphere was great too, lots of different people coexisting; uni students drinking beer out of jars, next to families with toddlers.
Very child friendly.
Hot damn! Came for a drive from Melbourne with my husband and baby, visited a winery cellar door and needed to find somewhere affordable, satisfying and casual to have lunch. Red Gum BBQ ticked those boxes x 100. It’s a large warehouse space, corrugated iron walls, rustic and industrial decor and picnic-style tables. The menu is succinct enough while offering plenty of choices, including some vegetarian options. The meats are great quality, their provenance labelled. I had brisket in a milk bun with slaw, husband had fried chicken sandwich with blue cheese sauce (was subtle) and slaw and we shared some rustic skin-on chips. All cooked to perfection, the meat succulent (well, the brisket was as succulent as brisket can be). We also bought a bottle of their golden, sweet and mustardy barbecue sauce, since it was like nothing we’ve tasted before.
We also appreciated the kids’ corner, change table in the loo and that this place was generally child/baby friendly. We’ll be back. Most Melbourne barbecue joints aren’t THIS good.
Fantastic spacious venue with relaxed atmosphere. Communal seating in places. Order at the bar - would prefer table service, but this is not a big deal. Pork ribs are to die for, super tasty options on the menu!
Came here very hungry after going hot springs! Hands down best bbq I’ve had in victoria!! Beautiful venue and delicious food, moist and flavoursome meats! They also have a specials lunch menu (all around $16, so plenty of options for everyone !
Only criticism is that there should be more information provided on if the meat quantity is enough or what a general portion size is. I was umming and ahhing if the food was enough. Maybe have a “feed one “ “feed two” pack for those who want to try small portions of everythin?!
Thank you and will definitely come back when I’m in the area
Delicious and a cool venue. Great for a weekend group lunch out of the city. Recommend getting the beef ribs - worth the extra cost. Mac & cheese also good.

A fabulous spot to enjoy Southern delicacies like pulled pork, smoked beef and pork ribs, chili etc... with some amazing local wines and beers. The barn style ambience is simply gorgeous..a must visit while out at Mornington.
Great venue, lots of tables, lovely decor, event space available. Even has child play area and couches for a food coma rest.
Many slow cooked bbq options and plenty of sides.
Pulled pork, $17, tender and moist. The 150g doesn't look like a lot but it is plenty.
Chili beef loaded fries, $17, this is a massive serving and highly addictive.
Plenty of beers and ciders on tap.
Very nice bathrooms, but their tank water ran out while wee were there which is annoying.
Food was fantastic and well priced. Went on a Saturday night and whilst busy we were served in a good time. We will be back with the family soon.
To start with the interior of this place is amazing. Simple rustic feel oozes relaxed vibes. We ordered the pulled pork, beef rib, chilli loaded fries and corn bread. They were all a real hit. The beef rib close to the bone was breathtaking, the outer of it was crusted in a mildly chilli seasoning. You really taste the smoked flavour in the meats. Will go again and recommend our choices.
This place was recommended to me earlier this year. I have been here 4 or 5 times since then. It is a good place to go if you are looking for BBQ and don’t want to break out your own Webber.
Can be noisy and there will always be plenty of kids kicking around to keep other diners amused.
Depending on what is popular or selling well on the day will determine if your choice is available. The sausage has been sold out the last few times I have been there. Good place to head to on a Saturday night if you are planning on sitting round and chilling with a few frothy’s
Long benches and mingling with carnivores alike make for an interesting time. Don’t order the spicy buffalo wings if you have had surgery on your tongue and stitches inserted. This was the highlight of my last visit. The person in question could have been mistaken for having a heart attack....
Everything about this place was 10/10! From the decor to the service to the food! Even the kids area was great. Not sure if it as planned to be like this but it was great that it was an area that kids could play in without running around screaming. Food was quick, fresh and well-priced. Will definitely be back!
Exceptionally good American BBQ. Was seriously impressed by the food and fitout. Being food snobs from Melbourne, we give the peninsula a hard time, but this place really does it right ! Other peninsula venues should look at this and take a few tips. People complaining about prices below are massively out of touch, they've probably never ventured past Frankston maccas.
The meat fell off the bone, the corn bread was the best I've ever eaten. The servings were generous, and the bustling night time ambiance was great.
Yes your sitting in a repurposed factory, yes the heating could be tweaked a little bit, yes there is a kids play corner (better that than them running around), but seriously, overall this place is pretty damn good, and as a former peninsula resident it makes me smile to see places like Red Gum that have put in the effort and really stepped it up a notch. Definitely would return.
Loved this family friendly food shed. Loved the little kids corner as it kept the little ones busy while the adults ate. Unfortunately the peninsula prices are always way to much for what your getting. I had cheaper BBQ in the city and I'm sure there rent is more than a old shed. That being said the food was super tasty. Loved the rib tips! Service was also very friendly. Should of been a 5 but lost one for being far too expensive.
Loved this place. Very chilled out decor, huge shed but decked out in a trendy way. Really American BBQ - as in meat is cooked in a smoker. Massive hits were the pickle (Yep!), broccoli salad and Mac n cheese. Highlight was the chicken. Can't believe it was sooooo succulent, it was absolutely amazing. Chicken is normally boring but not this! Brisket was good, but a bit dry for me, chilli beans were good and so was the cornbread. Beer paddle and wine were good too! Loved this place but it's no bookings and you would drive right past it as its next door to a petrol station. So different to everything else in Red Hill, you gotta try this place!
Pleasant venue with friendly and helpful staff. I loved the rustic feel to the place. The food was very tasty. I'd definitely be returning until I've tried everything on the menu.
Best bloody meat sweat that I've ever got!
Pork ribs are sensational!
Quick service! Friendly staff! And basically all you want from a texan style Saturday bbq!
You guys rock!
For the price you pay, the portions aren’t actually that big. I was expecting more, however the food itself was delicious and there was an extensive drink menu. Had both platters to share between 3 and then had the brownie. The brownie was so good, highly recommend getting that 10/10
Great Texan barbecue joint situated in red hill. They serve really excellent American bbq classics such as smoked brisket, Mac n cheese and sausages. Everything we ordered were fantastic and full of flavour. There is a great selection of beers and cocktails to pair with their food and also decadent desserts to finish off your meal with.
This place is amazing! Have tried a few American bbq places in Melbourne and this place takes the cake. The best meats were the brisket and pulled pork - both perfectly done. The chicken was a tad bit dry, and all sides we had were delicious (Mac, cornbread, coleslaw).
Lastly, the service matched the quality of food! We had McKenzie wait on us, and she was super helpful and just provided amazing service in general!
We randomly found this place after looking on google when were in the area, so glad we found it!
We LOVE this place. We have visited a couple of times and each time we enjoy it that little bit more.
The food is delicious! You can’t go wrong with the wings 🤤
We grabbed a whole lot of meats and sides and shared between 6 of us. Plenty of food to go around!
We will continue to visit Red Gum BBQ and highly recommend for those who enjoy their BBQ meats!
Lunch was very good here after a wine tasting in the area. Definitely book ahead as, surprise surprise, this place does get busy!
The staff were friendly, warm and helpful, going as far as offering our group a quick overview of the menu and some recommendations for sharing platters from the 'Feed Me Menus' which are generously portioned - Not sure how people are complaining about cost/value considering the quality of the Aussie meat and preparation involved.
We ordered the 'Happy as a Pig' platters individually and shared between some of the group, with some additional sides like the Spicy Beans and Pickled Vegetables.
Pulled Pork and the Chicken stood out for me, combined with the moist, delicious and flavourful Cornbread. The Brisket, Mac 'n' Cheese and Coleslaw were also very good.
Some of the best American BBQ available. The brisket passed the flop test and the pulled pork was buttery! Really enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks and the amazing shared plate. Even has a play area too occupy the kids!
