Review The Ambassador - Redcliffe

Paul Boyd
Excellent location for a value for money pub dinner. Massive meal which all us struggled to get through. They have sidewalk tables which offered a cool sea breeze & was generally a great place to watch the world go by. Great staff also made for a great night out. Recommended.

Had their special for lunch the Barramundi, chips & salad. My husband had a 200g steak, chips & salad which he thought was good too. The food was good & worth the price. The staff were friendly and will return again when in Redcliffe next.

We went out for a beautiful day out at Redcliffe and we're recommend the Ambassador. I order the surf and turf and my boyfriend ordered the Angus burger. The surf and turf was amazing three prawns on top of the most delicious well cook steak with chip and salad. The mushroom sauce was to die for. It finger-licking goodness. Best steak I've ever had. The burger was delicious. With a coke and a Corona. Paper towel in bathroom winner winner. Best lunch. Highly recommend to anyone.

Love this place. We go here for lunch quite often. Food is excellent. Cooked just right. Highly recommend the steak, so juicy and tasty. Staff are so lovely, service is quick. Nice clean place with a lovely breeze from the sea just over the road.

Tanya in the gaming room was nice, hope to see her here again. Very professional and lovely to speak to compared to some of the other female staff here. Food was delicious and well cooked. Wait time for food was minimal even during peak times. Minimal and difficult parking so expect to walk to this restaurant from down or up the road. Value for money and food portion size was above standard in regard to other local restaurants. Very clean and neat restaurant, I will be returning. Better than the Belvedere and better than the Redcliffe RSL.

Went today and took our kids. This was my daughters burger and the meat patty is still raw and bacon not cooked Gravy was like a paste and steak over cooked, snitzel burnt Showed the manager on duty and all he said was thanks for that No apology or compassion Would never go back here and definately do not recommend!!

Went down for the par-my specials. It is hands down the best chicken par-my I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, no dryness and the pesto - handmade like an Italian Grandma. Got a tall iced latte as well - fantastic coffee.

This place is surprisingly underrated. We have been here a few times and have enjoyed our food everytime. Really good value rump and their Thai salad was great! Great atmosphere as well.

The wine was cold, so 2 stars for that. The bruschetta was the worst I have ever had. It was garlic bread with tomato and onion dumped on top. The garlic bread is already soggy, then when you add the tomato, it just makes it soggier. The "Hand cut, panko crumbed calamari salad", was frozen calamari (average at best) & the salad was 95% lettuce, with a few pieces of paper thin cucumber, a sprinkle of carrot and a few pieces of onion, with a little bit of dressing in the middle. I will not be rushing back there, anytime soon.

Stopped in for dinner last night, ordered our meals, apparently they were out of mac & cheese so had to order our child’s second choice. Meals came to the table quickly and looked good......until part way into my chicken I discovered it was raw! Completely repulsed I had to hunt down a staff member to tell them. Admittedly I was given a full refund for my meal but the shoulder shrug and limp apology did not make up for serving raw chicken! Such a shame, used to be our favourite spot for dinner.

Great spot for a catch up meal. I had the surf and turf special. Steak done how I asked and beautifully presented. Chips crispy...salad not too much...great job!

Went there Sunday for dinner and found that the one I was seriously looking forward to was on the lunch menu. It was my birthday and a quick request with the boss who yhen spoke with the chef and voila, there was my favourite dinner...Thank you so much...you made an old lady very happy...xxx

Stopped in for lunch yesterday Meals were great & we didnt have to wait long at all. Was just a bit more expensive to any other pub we have eaten at, that was the only negative but thankfully we left happy & not disappointed with the food

If you want to sit down to dinner at a sticky tabletop ...you’ve found the Holy Grail! Barra was dry and tasteless Herb and Cheese Flat Bread was overcome with horrible olives Service was great

We have been going there for ages, still totally disappointed that they still haven't put prawns back on there menu. It states it because of white spot, but the manager on Sunday night said it was because prawns were too expensive. They are going to do a new menu soon. On a positive my Pork chop was pretty good.

Good price lunch quick service but the steaks 🥩 could have been a little bit better thanks

I have enjoyed a lot of meals here however the last few times have been disappointing. Ordered the reef and beef special last night for 15.95 and got charged 22.95. Salads taste old and past there best. Staff ripped me off and weren't very friendly. I won't be back

I love this place best pub feed in Redcliffe, staff are always friendly and they cater for kids

This is pub has seen several renovations over the years. It has long been one of the top watering holes in the area and serves up a typical coastal pub menu.

Atmosphere: relaxed pub venue, fairly clean with nice ocean views in certain positions throughout.

Service: ok, nothing special. Food came out in reasonable time.

Food: not too bad. The fried fish appeared to be store bought.

Verdict: go here for the view.

My review is for the bar mainly. Nice cold beer on the waterfront served by friendly staff. The food can be a bit hit and miss which is a shame as the pricing reflects it should be a hit every time ;-) My favourite watering hole on the pennisular with so much "potential".
Tastes Like Regret
Typical pub meal, fair service. Spacious as it was not crowded which we liked, especially on Sunday morning. Food arrived at an acceptable time. Ordered the eggs Benedict for breakfast, the poached egg was defs overcooked and hollandaise a bit boring. Partner ordered the big breakfast and it was filling, something you'd get from a hotel buffet or a diner. The coffee was good and prices were reasonable. Overall, a simple no-thrills, non-hipster nonsense breakfast. Not too shabby, but food not outstanding either. I would give this 3 stars if my eggs were not hard-boiled. Regret: My eggs!!

Breakfast - my Husband & I stopped in here for breakfast on Valentine's Day. The service was pleasant but that's where it ends sadly. After waiting for over half an hour for our breakfast my bacon & eggs arrived & there was NO BACON on my plate. After that was fixed up we discover my husbands poached eggs were hard boiled, my fried eggs were stuck together, the top one was ok but the one underneath was also cooked solid. All I can think is they put our meals in the warmer to wait for the bacon for my plate & forgot about us. It was horrid! They weren't even all that busy so there's was no excuse for it. Needless to say we didn't eat our eggs & we will never go back there for a meal again. It's a real shame too because the venue itself is quite nice.

Have been a few times mainly on cheap steak night. Is fairly standard for a pub pricing is moderate, the steak night deals however are fantastic and each time we have been the steak has been cooked fantasticly! I enjoy a medium rare steak and often it is a struggle to find one that is not over cooked. Prawn toppers are also nicely done. Service is not bad again fairly standard pub service nothinf exceptional you line up order and are given a number. All in all great on the specials nights but I probably wouldn't go any other time.

Good old basic pub food. Really reasonably priced with decent portion and daily specials.

Typical pub lunch had pork ribs could have been nice if they were hot. They were doing brisk trade being Australia day but still didn't see the value in the prices.

Not a bad spot for a cheap lunch....dissapointed that i wasnt able to buy a drink at the bar with my efpos card...i was on my own and barman said i had to spend $10...suggested i pay for 2 drinks and come back and get the the other when i had drank the first so i went without... the last few times i have been i found the steak to be very poor quality and very fatty...the last time a third of my steak i ended up putting in a napkin and taking home for my dog...should trime it off a bit...i really hate fatty meat

Worst Experience. Recently my partner and I along with 4 other friends decided to pop down to the Amabassador for lunch. It was very busy but bar staff was one person. No-one was coming to assist at the bar and the queue was growing, after 10 minutes I went in to see what was going on and I could see and hear a number of people complaining. My partner approached the manager and said that he needed more bar staff and was told he would not be served. My partner came out side he was followed by the Manager who proceeded to get up in my partner's face when he sat down and was told he wouldn't be served and to leave. At no time did my partner threaten this man, in fact a couple sitting close by called the waitress over and said they were disgusted by the managers behaviour and would never come back, they got up and left. Another couple near us complained to our table of how appalled they were and that they would never be coming back either.
The manager offended 10 people including our group in the small space of 10 minutes and lost our business for good. Not sure how the owner can survive with management who treats patrons in this manner.
My partner and I live in Redcliffe and eat out approximately 3-4 times a week including lunch and dinners, we have never come across the behaviour anywhere else. Not sure of his agenda but I know 10 people who will never step foot in there again.

Worst service evet. My partner and I along with a group of 4 friends lunched at the ambassador rrcently, food was typical pub food and enjoyable unfortunstely the service was the worst we've come across. If you don't mind waiting 20 minutes for a drink because they won't put on bar staff then you might like it.
