Review Pilpel Restaurant - Redcliffe

Always impressive, friendly staff and excellent service. The food is cooked to perfection.. Only fault is dessert should be served after main meal not before.. But it was all delicious!

I don't know how I've never been here. Stepping into Pilpel reminds me of stepping into a Croatian beach club. The place is huge. The music is pumping. The service is incredible (thank you for your hospitality). The bar is fully stocked, the food is delicious and abundant, and you don't want to leave. We had the recommended share platter and thoroughly enjoyed all of it - the beef brisket, couscous and hummus were my favourites. It's a wonderfully inviting place for the whole family. I can't wait to go back again.

Amazing Israeli banquet dinner. So much food but impossible to stop grazing! Every dish better than the last. The only thing better than the food though, was the service. Our wait staff were cheery & introduced every single dish as it was served. My only criticism was that there wasn't much atmosphere. The venue itself is beautiful and you could spend ages just admiring the ornate Israeli hanging lights. But it could really use some upbeat Israeli music at a decent volume. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Beautiful, Fantastic and Superb! You must dine here! It isn't the cheapest place to eat - but for what you get it is truly worth EVERY cent. Some of the best, attentive and most friendly service I have had anywhere. Incredible, DELICIOUS and very generous servings of food... You will need to use the take home containers they give you. The restaurant itself is very well styled, spacious, comfortable and welcoming. Just a WONDERFUL experience! Thank you to Chris and ALL the staff, we will tell everyone about you and definitely be back.

Great place. Great atmosphere. The service was great and staff are so friendly. We got the set menu. The food was amazing and impossible to eat it all. A dinner for 2 was enough to feed my whole family if they were with us. Luckily we got to take it home to share with our children. We will be back to share this place with friends and family.

Celebrated a 70th birthday with family and it was great! Pilpel catered for the little ones who tucked into pizza, nuggets and chips and calamari and chips while the rest of us enjoyed beautifully and generously presented platters and sides. There was also a.play centre upstairs to help keep the kids occupied. Staff were all super friendly and accommodating.

We went for the first time today for lunch and were so impressed, the food was delicious and service was excellent. We will definitely be back!

Lovely decor, warm and welcoming service for a lovely weekend lunch. Looking at the menu, I was expecting greater range and more options, but later realised I had a singular identity for 'Middle Eastern' food, and not actually realised its distinct cuisines. Everyone in our group enjoyed our meals, which were fresh and very tasty. Portions were quite generous, which offset the cost, which is a little on the high end. Overall, the dining experience was positive.

Food was a tad bit too salty, however good portion sizes.

As much as I would love to leave positive feedback unfortunately after trying to contact management for constructive feedback they fail to respond to a message for confirming a chat they arranged. <br/><br/>We went here last week and stayed for about 10 minutes as staff weren’t sure what dishes had chilli or paprika in them nor could tell me what was in the set menu. I’m incredibly surprised by this and have no words. I thought knowing what’s in your product would be the first thing you should know. I have been to other restaurants offering the same cuisine (Mecca bah) and never had an issue. I do understand there are many dietary requirements and I’m not the only one. So we were about to spend over $100 on a Tuesday night and went somewhere else for half the amount. I’m very disappointed with this as I really wanted to go.<br/><br/>Hopefully things improve here as it’s a stunning site and is very unique.

I think Pilpel is a bit overrated, the food is extremely salty and left both of us feeling like the top layer of our tongue had been burnt off. The food kind of just tasted the same with every bite and had no real interesting flavour. We went for the $20 lunch deal and the best part was the lemonade. The Turkish coffee was very strong and bitter and the tea was just mint leaves and water and the baklava was a tiny piece that we had to share. Even for $20 I didn’t think it was worth it. Also the lounges as chairs is very hard to get in and out of. Also as we were waiting to pay the guy serving ice cream did the tiniest scoops of ice cream and 3 tiny scoops was $13.80! the only good thing was that the staff were very friendly - Save your money and head elsewhere

Grand opening was a success , food was delish and music was great, this place is huuuuge. Will definitely be back to enjoy the lamb chops and the pizzas were one of the best I have had , ticks a lot of boxes

Tapas quite ordinary, the fact it took an hour and a half for any food to appear does not make for a recommendation. Great location though and the staff were friendly.

Awesome service and food. An abundance of delicious food and wonderful service. Thank you!

Such a unique dining experience! The food and service was fantastic! Could not recommend it enough!

Middle Eastern at its best. My partner and I booked in for dinner this weekend. We had heard only exception things about this venueand we now know why! The vivid atmosphere, friendly and exceptional staff and most of all the food.. The food was to die for!! Do yourself a favour and visit this little hidden gem in margate. You won't be disappointed!

Disappointed. We have been to this restaurant twice and the first time was great and wrier eager to return and so we did for a second time, let me just say we will not be going back!

Love this place! Great atmosphere, excellent food and plenty of it, and the staff cannot do enough to serve you. And now a nice selection of Israeli beer and wine. I have never been disappointed with my Pilpel experience. A definite plus for the peninsula.

Great food, plenty of it and fantastic service. All the staff are lovely. The decor in the back room is a great place to sit and enjoy your meal. A hidden gem.

Great place to catch up with friends. Not a place you would expect to find in suburban Margate but a great place to catch up with friends over some wonderful food.

Terrific tapas tanterlisingly thoughtfully presented

First time having tapas and it was amazing. If you're looking for something yummy to eat head down to Pilpel for Sunday Tapas, you won't be disappointed! Make sure you don't forget to have one of the fruity cocktails made by Aaron, I recommend the Vodka Illusion
__charlotte
Tasty Tapas. Tapas Sundays will have to become my weekly routine because this place was better than any experience I had in Spain. The garlic prawns, eye fillet and salmon would have to be my personal favourites but make sure you wash it down with a vodka illusion from our main boy Aaron.

Been before, will come again. Another fantastic experience at PilPel. Great food with outstanding service, once again. Always love dining out at PilPel. One of our friends is Jewish and she was very impressed at the authenticity of the food. Too much food to finish - don't eat all day prior to coming here!

Scrumptious. If you want an awesome night out for two or a group of friends or that special occasion this is the place to go . The service is excellent friendly and spot on. The food ..don't eat before you go as even the starters will fill you up and there are mains and deserts to go.Not only yummy but you will be asking for more and recomending your friends. <br/>We will be back .☺

Great food and service. Had a great meal here, great service and array of dishes. Was pleasantly surprised with the food that it wasnt just all olives and tomatoes, there was something for everyone, and it was all fantastic!

A bitter Pilpel to swallow.... What can I say about Pilpel? From the moment we walked in and we're asked to sit next to the drafty front door this experience was less than average. From the gratuitous plate of nondescript shredded vegetables to the meagre main course servings of what seemed like reheated leftovers, I struggle to find a single positive opinion about the food. The lamb was lukewarm, the chicken wings left a bizzare aftertaste and the two small pizza slices appeared as if they had been leftover from a previous patrons dinner. We decided at that point to cut out loses and forego the rest of the meal.. I will note that the staff on the other hand were friendly and courteous throughout the entire culinary ordeal. What has happened to you Pilpel, you used to be my favourite restaurant.

Pilpel Restaurant - Christmas Party. Our Christmas Party was held at Pilpel Restaurant last night. I cannot say enough about how good everything was. The food, the price, the staff and service was exceptional. We had 106 people attend and everyone was amazed at the variety and quality of the food. This has been the best Christmas Party that Tom's Law has had and I would recommend you try Pilpel. Thanks to hosts Adiel, Beth and their fantastic staff.

Pilpel Tapas YES PLEASE!!. WOW! We have been to Pilpel at Margate on numerous occasions - <br/>TAPAS SUNDAYS! Entrance for the Tapas section is off Wighton St Margate.<br/><br/>It was an amazing experience and I guarantee will be my favourite haunt now on a Sunday!! <br/>They open from 11am through to evening - with live entertainment.<br/><br/>The menu is tantalising and delicious!!! Everything only $7 a serve including Drinks and Cocktails.<br/>Be prepared - we are planning on really settling in one evening REAL soon!! <br/>The decor and ambience is 11 out of 10!!! I cannot praise enough - this place WILL GO OFFF Sunday Nights!!<br/>The staff are as always just so accomodating friendly and inviting! Also making sure all guests are having fun including little ones - emphasising the importance of family/child friendly environments. <br/><br/>The delicacies we tried today - oh YESSSSSS Right up my alley all the way!! <br/>With this exciting array of Tapas - can really try different and exotic items. <br/>My favourite today? hmmmm Really loved the Figs filled with lamb mince and pine nuts in a cinnamon red wine sauce. <br/>Not for everyone's palate - but definitely took me to Middle Eastern Spice Markets with aroma and taste. <br/><br/>I have not been this excited about a venue for a longgggg time!! PILPEL! What an amazing achievment!! <br/>Do yourselves a favour - CHECK IT OUT NOW!!! <br/>https://www.facebook.com/PilpelCatering?fref=ts

Pilpel Tapas on Sunday. I really like the way that Tapas is served in smaller dishes and you can monitor how much you eat over a short of longer period. Pilpel Tapas this Sunday was a big success. I loved the Cocktails and my favourite dish was the fig arrangement. Well done to all the team. Margaret and I enjoyed it and will be back.

Interesting. Such an interesting restaurant. I would most certainly recommend giving it a try, very unique on the peninsula.

Fabulous Food!. Pilpel recently hosted a business function for our school and produced a sumptuous repast with very original presentation. The service was excellent and the staff did everything possible to ensure that the timing was right and all guests were catered for. I highly recommend, not just the food, but also the venue and service for a function. Lisa

Really good food. Genuine Mediterranean. Engaging chef/owner. Guaranteed not to go hungry. Well worth trying

Basic food - Overcharge not honored. We were disappointed in the meal, very basic and run of the mill. certainly nothing to write home about. A drinks overcharge of $30 for three drinks definitely not consumed at my table, was the next disappointment. I didn't notice the overcharge until the next morning (restaurant very dark so impossible to check receipt until outside but spent an hour after the meal locating a patron as I had found her phone on the ground). Noticed overcharge in morning(Sunday) and after making several phone calls and leaving messages during the week no one from Pilpel had the courtesy to contact me. After going back to restaurant with receipt in which Aaron said he remembered me, I was provided with an email to provide my bank details for refund. Again, no response and finally after leaving several unanswered messages and sending another email I was advised by email that as I hadn't addressed the overcharge on the Saturday night I would be provided with a $30 credit for the bar or restaurant. That was July, still no credit, and I will definitely never step foot in that place again, and nor will the 9 others who were members of my party. Disappointing and poor customer service. Unfortunately cannot recommend on any account.

My New Favourite Restaurant. I have not stopped talking about my visit to Pilpel since I went here for dinner last week. It was a truly unique and satisfying experience thanks to wonderful staff and scrumptious food. I especially enjoyed the surprise of not knowing what was on the menu, giving us the opportunity to try new dishes that we would not ordinarily order. Everything....and I mean EVERYTHING brought to our table was truly delicious, fresh and full of fantastic flavours. This brings me to how much is brought to your table. It's probably best to skip lunch if going here for dinner as the quantity of food is above anything I have experienced. We simply couldn't eat it all, despite trying our very best :) If I can give you any advice....save some room for desert and loosen your belt!

Amazing Catering!. I recently went to a 21st celebration where Pilpel was catering for the night. All i can say was that the food was absolutely amazing. It was fresh the entire night, tasted amazing, and was an absolute hit with everyone there. <br/>The staff member was incredibly friendly the entire time and worked hard to impress us, which he did! <br/>I definitely recommend Pilpel as a catering option for any event, you won't be disappointed. <br/>Great food, friendly staff, what more could you ask for?
Sarah
Outstanding in all aspects! Great friendly service<br/>, beautiful atmosphere and food to perfection. Chef takes great interest in how food is received and will come out to both restaurant and bar - very approachable. Manager also very involved and happy to answer questions and introduce dishes. Overall an excellent venue - definitely going again - make sure you're hungry before you go.

Awesome Restaurant, Chef and Staff. I can't believe the 'Very Disappointed' review!! This restaurant is totally amazing! The food is excellent and there is so much choice for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian! I was also at Pilpel on the night of the stray dog and how this is the staffs fault or problem mystifies belief. The staff are friendly, efficient and professional. The Head chef greets all patrons and is very generous with the amount of food he serves! It is fantastic value for money, beautiful food and a great atmosphere. Thank you again, Pilpel. We will be back!!

Very disappointed. Was told they catered for vegetarians, however I was served the same item for both my entree and main- AND they charged me the same as those eating meat. <br/><br/>Also - a lost dog was hanging outside the restaurant for over 2 hours and the staff did nothing. A couple at the restaurant stopped their meal to call the council and then waited for them to arrive. While its not a food review, we felt that it said a lot about the staff that worked there.

A favourite!. Pilpel never disappoints! Both the service and the food are always magnificent. The staff go out of their way to ensure you feel relaxed, it's like enjoying a banquet at an old friend's house!

What a surprise gem hidden in the most unlikely spot! Cancel all your bookings in the city, valley & south brisbane and get in your car & head to Pilpel. For only $40 a head you are taken on a journey of courses & flavours that I can only describe as like getting a big warm hug! The night begins with a 15 plate entree which I would class as middle eastern. Followed by the main which should just be called the meat course. Yum! Just when you think you can't fit anything else- bam! Home make mint & rose water icecream. The chef visits every table and his love of food oozes around the restaurant. The waiter was beyond exceptional and shared the chefs genuine love for his job. The night finished with the discovery of treasure. Hidden literally thru the kitchen is a tranquil back bar, perfect for a night cap. You won't find better staff, value for money along with constant surprise. The chef just cooking what he feels like based on seasonality & quality. If I can just give the team one thoughy- the name & being listed as Mediterranean doesn't describe the blissful dinner we experienced.

Service very disappointing. I had been really looking forward to trying Pilpels for ages so organised to go with a group of friends on a Saturday night. <br/><br/>We were seated in the newer area out the back & although noisy, it had a nice ambience. There seemed to be plenty of staff but unfortunately the service through the evening was abysmal.<br/><br/>After sitting down, it took us quite some time to get someone to take our drinks order & we were only given one bottle of water for the table of 10 & had to ask for more. I ordered one of their cocktails. They are only $10 which is a great price but I swear that the vodka bottle must have only been waved over the top. I believe there was hardly any alcohol in it so my recommendation would be if you want an alcoholic drink, stick with the wine or beer as at least you know what you're getting.<br/><br/>The entrees came out. They really were delicious & there were so many of them. The fried cauliflower was divine. Tried to get someone's attention at this stage for another drinks order & it was quite difficult. Eventually we got someone to get another order for us but that was basically it for the evening. Unless you got up from the table yourself to get someone's attention, you weren't going to get another drinks order in. They lost a lot of revenue that evening just from this lack of service.<br/><br/>The mains came out & it was basically a platter of lamb & beef & prawns on large skewers which had to be shared amongst the table with some calamari & a side of chips. No vegetables or salads. There was plenty of meat but most of the table commented that a salad of some sort would have been nice to go with the meat - not just chips. (However, it is only fair to add that the chips were delicious). <br/><br/>The dessert was vanilla & rose water ice cream with maple syrup served in small glasses. It was delicious but a slightly larger serving would have been nice.<br/><br/>The restaurant was emptying out at this stage & some of the staff were just tidying up (it wasn't late - about 9pm) & I had to again try to get someone's attention to get tea & coffee which is also included in the $40 price. They certainly had no intention of offering it. You only have a choice of peppermint tea or Turkish coffee which is served in small glasses, so a bit of a novelty.<br/><br/>We were told that each couple could pay separately which was great. Two of the couples paid & left about half an hour before the rest of us. When we came to pay, the staff tried to tell us that the others hadn't paid, & had to ask each staff member if they had taken the payment. Eventually it was sorted out but it is not a nice way to end an evening & they should be better organised when settling bills. <br/><br/>The owner did come out during the evening to ask if everything was ok which was nice & I must admit, we just said it was fine as I don't like to complain in the middle of the meal & ruin the evening - probably something a lot of other people do too as you don't want to cause a fuss. We're pretty easygoing when it comes to restaurants & I think we had all been looking forward to Pilpels due to the great write-ups it has received but the service really did let this venue down, big time. Small things like a lack of salad etc. will normally be overlooked if backed up by good staff. Maybe they should go back to being BYO instead of only licenced as they can't seem to handle the extra work it involves. Sorry Pilpels, we were all a little disappointed.

Seb P. Wow! What an experience great food, Atmosphere, service.............. To tell you the truth I loved the whole set up was second to none.

We chosen this venue for a 6.... We chose this venue for a 60th birthday surprise dinner for my husband <br/>The staff could not have been more accommodating the food outstanding as was the service and the ambience of the whole night<br/>Have since spoken to all our guests and they were really impressed as well <br/>Congratulations to all for such a great venue and food with a difference

Best for a Friday night date, had an amazing experience, environment was excellent created by the staff. Food was incredible!!! Definitely recommend!
Rogerk
Not that great as advertised. It was not worth at all to pay $39 per person. Food was not that great, salads stale, taste average.
Timirish01
Meditteranean Gem. Visited this hidden local restaurant for the first time last night.<br/>Service, Food and Staff was of extremely high calibre!<br/>A beautifully presented new section and deck is about to open up that will further entice diners and fans of unique and exotic tastes to become frequent visitors - Just like I am about to become. Great work Pilpel - one of the finest restaurants on the Peninsula. Looking forward to coming back.
Fred Flintstone
Quite a disappointing night given the good reviews. <br/>they are not sure if they are Mediterranean or Middle Eastern.??!! <br/>$40/head does not represent good value as meals came out luke-warm, our entree was a mish-mash of random plates with no real cohesion then when our mains arrived we were greeted with chewy lamb kebabs and dry beef and chicken, having to ask for sauce of some kind (chips @$40/head is not an acceptable offering). <br/>I will not be back while the "set menu" remains, it was a confused meal at best.

The Pilpel Experience. My partner Iain and I took my son Brett and his wife Sarah out for a surprise dinner last night at Margate. It was their 1st Pilpel experience and they were absolutely impressed with the ambience, service and culinary delights. The many and varied starters were amazing and the homemade lemonade just beautiful. We look forward to sharing the joy again soon.
Suzanne
A wonderful evening!. We dined here on Friday night & really enjoyed ourselves. The food is wonderful, lots of little starters followed by the shared main of different meats, prawns & chips, then finished off perfectly with a small serving (thankfully, as we were stuffed!) of this incredible ice-cream. The lemonade was delicious also. All the staff were friendly & the owner, Adiel, is genial & a fantastic host. All around, a wonderful evening & we'll be back very soon.

OH MY GOD... DELICIOUS!!!. What a lovely evening. Mum had seen this restaurant on Great South East and recommended we go with her friend that lives in Redcliffe. The food was amazing, the staff wonderful (the owner/chef even came out several times to chat with us, and personally brought me a bandaid as I had cut my finger in my car). There was sooooo much food and it was all extremely fresh and very tasty. The homemade lemonade, well, lets just say I've never tasted anything like it... I wanted the recipe, but it was secret and changes according to which fresh herbs are available that day! And the dessert was the perfect finish to a lovely evening. BYO too, which is a bonus. Entree, main, dessert & coffee (& a jug of fresh homemade lemonade) all for $39 per person!!!! There is even She-sha available. The only thing I could suggest is perhaps some mediteranian type music, just to top it off. What a great evening. We are going to go at least once a month now as our special treat!! If they are not booked out, as I have a sneeking suspision that soon you will have to book well in advance!<br/>Thank you Pilpel, see you soon, very soon! Madonna

Unexpectedly great. We were a bit worried about going to a restaurant way out in Redcliffe with a set menu because my kids are fussy eaters, and also because it is Middle Eastern food which we have had some bad experiences with. I'm very glad we did go because the food and service was great, and at $39 a head it worked out less for a family of five than what we would normally pay. <br/>Despite what the website says, you don't go out the back to choose anything. First up they bring out about a dozen different dips and mostly raw or pickled vegetable dishes along with a dish of pita bread. These were beautiful and fresh flavours and quite a lot of food.<br/>Next came the main, which was chicken in a dish and lamb and beef on skewers, served on a bed of chips. I don't know how traditional the chips are, but we agreed they were the best fries we'd ever had. The owner said they were triple cooked, but whatever it was they were worth going there just to try. Golden and crunchy and absolutely delicious. The sheer amount of food defeated us, but the waitress packaged it up to take home<br/>Finally desert was a small iced cup of a delicious rosewater icecream.<br/>They serve lemon drink by the jug, and also sell really good gourmet soft drinks which they keep out the back. Its BYO no corkage, and you serve yourself. Access to the toilets is through the kitchen which is a bit unusual. They do have outside tables with a heater in winter, and as it can get deafeningly noisy inside this could be a good option.<br/>I recommend going here as it was a memorable experience.

An experience like no other. Pilpel exceeds expectations like you will not believe. <br/>After venturing to try a new restaurant on the peninsula, Pilpel was our place of choice.<br/>We were greeted and waited on by friendly staff who went beyond expectations to keep our table satisfied.<br/>The idea of no set menu leads to an even more exciting experience that leaves you wanting to come back for more just so you can experience every little thing they have to offer! <br/>The homemade lemonade with a dash of mint is simply divine! Entrees are without a doubt fulfilling enough on their own. The mains are beyond mouth watering. The rose water and mint ice cream is heavenly. <br/>The idea of presenting the food and sharing with your table makes you feel more involved with the culture. <br/>The hookah pipe will definitely be something we try next time! <br/>Pilpel is almost a secret you don't want to share because you just want to keep it all for yourself!!<br/>The service is exceptional, the atmosphere is authentic and the food is beyond amazing. It truly is an experience like no other. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. <br/>Pilpel top tip: Come hungry!

AMAZING. Pilpel is easily my favourite restaurant. My fiance and I are here nearly every week. The staff are great, very welcoming and cant do enough for you.<br/> I could live off the pita bread and fresh tapas and love how its unlimited! The mains are always cooked to perfection! I like the concept of not having to decide what to order.<br/> Last but not least, dessert. The rosewater ice cream is always a winner, I just wish it served in a mug and not a shot glass ;) <br/>Highly, highly highly recommended!!!

A meal at Pilpel is ALWAYS a wonderful experience, whether with a group of plenty or as a couple. The food is fresh, vibrant and very tasty. The atmosphere is warm, lively and takes you away from surburbia and off to far away places. Don't forget to bring your wine. Love eating at Pilpel.

Excellent Food, Excellent Servics!!!! 10/10<br/><br/>I dined here tonight with 7 of my friends & all of us could not stop raving about the meal & the service!!!<br/><br/>First to arrive (within 10 mins of being seated) was a delicious assortment of entrees. Beautiful dips, delicious bread, crumbed mushrooms just to name a few of the 15. What was even better was they gave you unlimited entrees! Then came the main.. The meat was cooked perfectly & the sides were amazing. The meal was finished off with a light rose water & mint ice cream. The home made lemonade was very refreshing. <br/><br/>The chef came to our table several times to check on us & was just so attentive. All of this for $39 each!! <br/><br/>I will be telling all my friends & family about this place, it's my new favorite restaurant on the peninsula. <br/><br/>10/10

Amazing. A group of friends and I went to Pilpel last Saturday night, 23rd March and were blown away by the food and service.<br/><br/>So many things to choose from and as much as you could possible eat. Hummus like I've never tasted elsewhere, salads to die for and the falafel was delicious. <br/><br/>The grilled meats were amazingly cooked and what a great idea, not to have a menu, as this way you get to try so many things, that you otherwise wouldn't. <br/><br/>For $39 per person, you won't find better value anywhere else in Brisbane. <br/><br/>We asked our waitperson how many people were in the kitchen and she said just the one. We were surprised by this, as everything came out beautifully presented and without a wait. <br/><br/>I would definitely recommend Pilpel to anyone, as our whole table LOVED IT! We had bought a birthday cake with us to share but no-one could possible fit any in.<br/><br/>A great find and well worth a trip to the Redcliffe area to dine here.
RC
Very Disappointing. Left a lot to be desired, had been recommended this restaurant by family member so we decided to join them on their second visit. Total change since their first visit a month ago. The home made lemonade now tastes like cordial, lack of service, some wait staff don't know info about dishes, use to be able pick main from selection now has turned to set menu with no choice. You get what you are given. $40 per head, noticed a table of 2 received the same amount of food as our table of 3. Over heard a number of other guests comment about the change in restaurant lets just say they weren't positive comments.

Absolutely loved the food superb service .

Forget the rest - Pilpel is Best!. I went to see what the fuss was about - I wasnt dissapointed! The best attentive service, great music, the food was incredible - both delicious & presented beautifully. Highly recommend it!
Sue
Fabulous. Been twice now, love it, such a variety of excellent food, beautifully presented. Staff are welcoming.my favourite place to eat :-)
David Meek
Best place around!. I have visited this spot numerous times now, and I will keep going back! The food is super and the staff are some of the best that I have ever come across in Australia! Love the entree tapas and could eat until I dropped! Not having to select your meal is a great feature, and takes all the hassle out of ordering while with a group. You will not leave hungry!!!!
Melissa Missy Francis
Amazing food, wonderful service, such a lovely place to meet friends and eat great food!
Jo Williams
Highly recommend this restaurant. An abundance of interesting dishes for entree - bread, hommous, red slaw salad, tempura cauliflower, chargrilled capsicum, sweet potato, eggplant dip, Cous Cous - to name but a few, left us almost too full to appreciate the main course of a variety of chargrilled meats and haloumi. Dessert of mint and rose water icecream to finish was just enough. Friendly staff, good atmosphere. We will be back.
Shirli Guttman
Amazing food!!!. As a visitor to your wonderful restaurant this week I was amazed at the quality and variety of dishes. They were fresh and plentiful and as good as anything I have ever tasted. We especially loved the freshness and flavor of the dips and the lamb was probably the best I've eaten. Service was attentive and very friendly Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Ben
FIlling and amazing. Everything was pretty great!<br/><br/>The head chef is nice and friendly, came and talked with us for a while and made us feel at home.
Ian Garrioch
Wow!!. Not only did we get wowed when the substantial entrees came out but then again when the mains came out, excellent all round could not fault, we'll be back soon.
ELizabeth Scheu
We loved it. Any entree we liked was replenished as well as much bread as we liked. The chips with mains nay seem strange but they were delicious. Have recommended it to many friends.

I wasn't sure what to expect when my mum and I went to Pilpel....the reviews sounded great but I was thinking that they may have been a bit exaggerated...they weren't! Honestly one of the best eating experiences I've had! Food in abundance and it all tasted fabulous...our entrees would've been enough but then the main came and this just sealed the deal! Dessert and coffee was the perfect way to end our meal...<br/>What made our night even more perfect was the great service and chatting with the very nice chef and owner (who has the best choice in children's names :) ) Definitely be back and telling all my friends to eat there too!!

WOW. My family and I have dined at Pilpel three times now and I cannot fault a thing. The entress come out, there are at least 15-20 of them and once you have eaten them, you can request your faves again and again, there is no limit! Then you choose the meat you would liked grilled from the cabinet, there are at least 6-8 choices. This comes out with vegetables and either wedges or chips, it's so filling. Throughout the meal, you are served bottomless jugs of their in house lemonade, which tastes amazing. At this point, you think you can't possibly eat another thing but they serve you a shot glass of ice cream that is prepared in house also. This is just enough to finish the meal off and leave your palate satisfied. The staff are amazing and the owner comes around to each table and checks you are enjoying your meal. This is also a great experience, as he explains that this is the way that people eat in Israel, so all in all it is very authentic. Do yourself a favour and dine at the hidden gem in Margate, you will not be disappointed.<br/><br/>I am absolutely baffled by a couple of poor reviews on this restaurant, obviously some people wouldn't be able to be pleased if they dined at a five star establishment. Ignore them and enjoy Pilpel!!!

Great food & service. It's about time Margate had a restaurant like this. We dined in on a Friday night and enjoyed sitting outside with our byo wine. The entrees were delicious and there were plenty of them. Our waitress was very nice and reminded us we could have as much as we like. After we finished the entrees we choose our mains from the selection behind the glass, deciding on the lamb skewer and the pork ribs. <br/><br/>The pork rib was huge and the lamb skewer was more than enough, both were served with perfectly cooked chips. After our mains we had homemade ice-cream (wonderful vanilla ice-cream with what I think was rose-water jelly) and coffee. All of this is included in the one price you pay for your main and I think it's great value. There is plenty of food and we left feeling very satisfied. The service is very good: friendly and professional. <br/><br/>We really enjoyed dining here and will certainly return. Highly recommended.

Get a table outside and eat before you go. We went on the week- end after reading the good reviews.<br/>disappointed. tables are severd with what seems like 10-<br/>or more tiny little saucers of onion, 1 dip etc, 10 chick peas in a tomatoe sauce 6 tiny little falafell etc,, and not enough bread to accompany it . rather have 4 things<br/>of a resonable size that will fill teh spot . the lemon drink with mint was very nice and would recommend it.<br/>out came the mains.1 chicken kebab undercooked on one end with no seasoning what so ever. with it came<br/>a small corn on the cob from the birds eye frozen range<br/>and chips.! if we were hungry after the entree , were we even more so after the kid size main. wouldnt a rice side dish, or a salad been more appropriate than chips??<br/>went o another cafe after for a paletful of dessert and coffee. <br/><br/>the noise in the place was overwhelming , that made it hard to talk to anyone orther than the person next to you .<br/>happy to give my ears a rest when we left.<br/><br/>pilpel need to address this with either soft furnishings or discourage large groups on tables. <br/>.

Yummy yummy yummy. A group of friends and I dined at Pilpel last Friday night and were wowed not only by the amazing food, but the fantastic service. The friendly staff were very attentive to all our dining needs. I was very impressed by the delicious homemade lemonade (something I have never had before) and couldn't get enough of the mouth watering entree's - my favorite were the mushrooms covered in aioli sauce! The well presented and tasty mains - I had the delicious lamb chops - more than satisfied my hungry tummy. And after two servings of the yummiest lemon sorbet I have ever tasted, I can say that I was happily full and had thoroughly enjoyed my evening. I will definitely be eating at Pilpel again and highly recommend it as fine dining!

A Mediterranean table of PLENTY!. Last Friday night , with a group of 4, I dined at Pilpel for the first time. I, as well as my guests, were all very impressed. Upon ariving at the quaint mediterranean resteraunt we were greeted by a wonderful waitress who sat us at our table with a HUGE jug of delicious home made lemonade. Minutes later she returned with a HUGE selection of authentic salads, dips, and breads (I was certainly a fan of the deep fried mushrooms! The waitress noticed that our table had eaten the whole plate ful and on her rounds dropped another at our table!!! Needless to say, my belly and I were very impressed!). By the time we had just finished our entre (very much a 'tapas' experience) we had our mains! At Pilpel - you are NEVER waiting to eat! The mains were delicious and a perfect size considering the HUGE entre.. There really was something for EVERYONE (my partner is quite a fussy eater and he was nothing short of impressed of the menu!). The night was finished with delicious home made lemon and mint sorbet (two rounds of this was enjoyed by our table - as I said, if more is wanted - MORE is delivered!) and a delicious latte! <br/>My favourite things about Pilpel were:<br/>*You are NEVER waiting to eat.<br/>*The tables truly are tables of plenty!!! The waitress is only too happy to bring more entres to the table or servings of dessert or fresh lemonade!<br/>*The resteraunt has such a cheery vibe - always filled with conversation and laughter of people enjoying a mediterranean feast with the people they love! <br/>*All you pay for is the main! Everything else is included (where else would you get a table full of mediterranean tapas, a delicious woodfire pizza, home made sorbet, a latte and a botomless jug of home made lemonade for $33?!!).<br/>*The resteraunt offers BYO! (Need I say more...)<br/>*And, lastly, the service! Like I said with the deep fried mushrooms - the waiter (Janna I believe her name was?) is always at the ready to assist you in whatever way she can to make your experience something to remember. Additionally, the owner Adiel makes you feel so welcome - greeting you throughout the night for a friendly chat. <br/><br/>I certainly recommend Pilpel's Mediterranean experience to everyone and anyone. From the fussy to the foodies! Do yourself a favour and book yourself a table (bookings are essential - this place is POPULAR)!

A group of 8 of us went with high expectations reading the reviews. The bread and dips were lovely but it was sooo loud in the restarsunt we could not hear eachother at all. The concept of then havibg to go upto the fridge and pick ur main meat is different but i think ordering off a menu is nicer than seeing all this raw meat in the fridge. When the maons came out we omly each got one kebab a bit of corn and chips. Chips i haveto question is this mediteranean?!? The meat was ok but hardly substantial for a main. We asked wat dessert was - a small shot glass of icecream turkish delight for us at thispoint we decided to leave and go somewhere else for dessert for around 39$ each dips a piece of meat with chips , homemade lemonade which was nice and dessert just did not do its justice i think they still need to work on a few thibgs at this restaraunt :(

An Impressive Affair. Awesome variety for those of us with tricky allergies. Was so full... and that was just after the starters! Very reasonable pricing and lots of thought put in to proportions - loved the Turkish Delight! Service always flawless and the head chef is super friendly and approachable if you have special dietary requirements. Venue is a cozy and atmospheric - worth going back a second, third or fourth time!

Give it a miss. A most anticipated visit ending in complete disappointment ! 7 of us just had dinner tonight and i can safely say it was one of the most disappointing experiences especially for the price , the restaurant was full which i took to be a good sign but is not always the case , so noisy we couldnt wait to get out and even opted out of the dessert which was included in the price , nothing to rave about a very small cup of icecream , as the acoustics were so bad that you just could not talk to the perswon beside you without shouting! the entrees were very ordinary and small and the mains , well I could have eaten twice the amount , i did give the waitress feed back re the acoustics which did not go down well ! all in all a very forgettable and expensive exercise .

Wonderful. Recently my boyfriend and I came across Pilpel. The Food was exceptional and what a great Mediterranean experience. Entree was fantastic and the options of mains where plentiful. We are going back for sure. The staff very pleasant and complements to the chef!<br/>This restaurant comes highly recommended by both of us!

Great experience and value. Huge selection of starters provided, delicious lemonade, fabulous attentive service. Couldn't fault it, don't take notice of the $$$$ in the pricing guideline as $35 is for EVERYTHING, starter, main, dessert, coffee and lemonade. A really nice way to try some flavours and share a meal with friends, we'll go back

A great find!!. Went to Pilpel on saturday night in a group of 8 and was really impressed. If you love to share great fresh mediterranean food with friends this is definitely the place. First course was about a dozen little dishes to share including dips and bread and other wonderful tempters (the deep fried mushrooms were to die for!). 2nd course is your choice of meat chicken or prawns cooked to order and finally the dessert was a light and refreshing vanilla bean icecream with mint. 3 courses are a set price between about $30- 35 per head. We left feeling full and satisfied after a fun night. Its great value for money, BYO and the chef and staff were terrific.

You must try it!. A unique concept, with friendly service and a great atmosphere. The food was fresh, and the variety of entrees will please everyone. If you are in the Redcliffe area make sure to bring an appetite. Our favorites were the hoummus, mushrooms, and the all you can drink lemonade. Yum.

Awesome. Went here for my sister's birthday with a table of 7....food was amazing, service was super efficient and friendly, the owner came out to chat regularly (but not annoyingly).<br/><br/>The idea of entrees + mains + dessert is great, I am already planning on going back with a group of friends.

Amazing Mediterranean / eastern style food. The restaurant has such an appealing concept by allowing you to order mains and providing a range of entrees to share at the table. Food is fantastic and well presented and best part is it is so affordable at $25 to $35! Great atmosphere and service too. Top notch restaurant. All should go :)
