Good night for the ponies and great food

Had a table at the restaurant booked for eight people. When we arrived we were informed that a punter had insisted on sitting at the table reserved for us. We were given the option to share the table with the punter. We chose to go to the Redcliffe RSL which put on an excellent meal.

I attend a business breakfast meeting each week at the Redcliffe Paceway. The newly renovated restaurant is great, and the meal provided by Grahame each week hits the spot! #visitredcliffeqld #iloveredcliffe

We went for their Melbourne Cup function under Covid rules so not too crowded. The building itself probably can be described as "seen better days" but every thing you want is there. Great view of the track, a bookie & TAB, friendly staff and good selection of cold bar drinks at reasonable prices. To top off the terrific day, everyone in our group all agreed that the meal was the best they have eaten in ages.

Hardly anyone goes to the "red hots" now. Except participants mainly. They have lost the public for good. Even when Covid restrictions were at their strictest, it made no difference because hardly anyone goes regardless. Victoria does it so much better with marketing and PR. The problem in Queensland is there are too many people with their own agendas and they they think the industry revolves around them. Spectators are a huge advantage to any event, as they pass on their experiences to others, which in turn attracts new people. It is plainly obvious that Queensland clubs could not care less about attracting anyone.
