Review Misty's Diner - Reservoir

Brigitte Cox
Just exactly what we were looking for. I just walked into grease the musical. Love the place. Misty is just an amazing character. Do not eat before you come and do not expect to walk out hungry because wow. :) best burger advice ive ever had. Leave the wrapper and lean forward.

First time and too be honest, expected it to be better. Daughter ordered cheese burgers and fries. The cardboard car they came in was cute but the burgers boring with patty and not much cheese. Her vanilla milkshake, looked amazing but was very vanilla tasting and small and fit $5.95, over priced Meat platter was good. Had pork ribs, sliders, sausage, meatballs, chicken wings and garlic bread. Sliders were boring and meatballs cold. Mac and cheese had a bit of spice to it which ruined it for me. Was going to order pie but at $13.90 for a tiny slice; decided against it. Glad I tried it but won't go back.

Great food and service. Great way to spend fathers day. Very happy with food and Misty so a great host. Will come back!! 5 star pace.

Disgusting food. Tastes like a deep fryer. Barely any taste. Flys everywhere, cashier kept over charging us. My wife threw up after eating some nachos. Luckily they refunded us for that. Will never go back.

I was quite excited to see Misty’s Diner (Reservoir) on Menulog. On this occasion I ordered the ‘Mac Tastic (American Style Cheesy Macaroni) & ‘Trailer Park Trash’ (Fried Chicken on Mash w/white gravy). Firstly, this food is not for the faint hearted (literally)… But that is the whole point right! If you’re going to do something, do it properly, and they certainly don’t do things by halves. The Mac n Cheese was exactly what I was hoping for, pure gluttonous heaven. I felt a pang of guilt with each mouthful and uttered a quiet apology to my heart and arteries… The ‘Fried Chicken on Mash w/white gravy’ was a real surprise to be honest… Actually what surprised me the most was the white gravy…. When I first saw it on the menu I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it, I mean really, white gravy? What is that? Let me tell you, it is the mother of all gravies!! Dear god, the flavour!! I don’t know what the heck they put in it, in fact I don’t think I want to know, but either way, it tasted amazing! The fried chicken was delicious and a decent serving size, I appreciated that they only used chicken breast. The seasoning was delightful and better than KFC (and surprisingly less fatty).. The mash was the perfect companion. The only criticism I have is that the pink dye from the paper seeped through on to my mash, to be fair, this was after taking it out of the fridge the next morning… Overall, a fantastic eating experience, delicious in every way …. I will order again.

Cute and relaxed little diner tucked away amongst the other touristy shops here. The juices were great and the food was delicious, piping hot, and creatively plated. Will definitely be coming back again.

The atmosphere was good, but $30 for a hamburger and chips cmon!

What a disgusting place! Firstly we arrived and seated at 7pm 40minutes later we finally had our drinks order taken The place was either understaffed or had a zero carefactor as the place was a mess! Dirty plates and glasses on every table The place look very dirty and unclean. The staff were constantly hiding behind the bar drinking and talking instead of running the floor for peak service. 1 hour later we finally had our meal order taken, which I was recommended the most expensive dish the pork ribs. Which I gladly ordered. Too my shock they were presenting in a beer bucket which I seen the staff use a bin several times. This issue with the ribs where disgusting, over cooked basically un eatable!!! Burnt garlic bread and corn on cob that smelt like rotten water! Overpriced rubbish for $40! I brought this issue to the attention of the young waiter who said "let me see what the chef says about it first" 10 minutes late the waiter said the chef reckons its cooked to perfection! Please!! If you're chef is saying that maybe you need to hire a fully training chef! I then asked for a refund which was replied with "our owner doesn't allow that" Cmon are you serious? What happen to customer service and customer satisfaction? We spent over $200 between the 5 of us And everyone had something bad too say about the food! And no one finish their dishes Everything was disgusting!!!! That's saying something. Maybe the owners should work the business instead of leaving poor helpless 16yo waiters to defend this crappy place! Maybe check last time the toilets where cleaned 16th feb 2017! Stay away at all costs! Overpriced slop!

An experience in a 50s American Diner. True American style/decor from the number plates to the vinyl records scattered throughout the diner, a duke box at every booth with classic 50's and 60's music sets the vibe and great food. We had a combination of Chili dogs, Corn dogs & American grilled Cheese with bacon. ** Disclosure** when planning your visit go with an empty stomach as the servings are of a generous size and the customer service is fantastic. The menu is diverse and caters for all, with starters, mains desserts, shared plates and a reasonable bar. There is also a great selection of American candy, gum, drinks and nibbles to purchase. We would definitely come back again to sample some of the other foods on offer.

My boyfriend and I have been going to Misty's for 2 years! It's one of our favourites. Tried the deep fried mac and cheese balls on Misty's recommendation and they did not disappoint! Best mac and cheese I've ever had. The burgers are always sensational and can't forget our favourite curly fries. Love coming here!

We went to Misty's prahran on Sunday, it was a wonderful experience with very full bellies! Food was good & good value. Our waitress Ginger was awesome as we needed help to navigate the huge menu & she was only too happy to oblige. Great atmosphere & well presented store. Thanks, we'll be back Only criticism would be the potato skins, they were delicious but I think overpriced compared to the rest of the menu

Silly and kitchen bit so fun and Misty is the best, yum food too

Thanks for a stellar 4th of July feast Misty! Stuarkt and I doubt we'll ever be hungry again! Big hats off to you and your staff for dealing so well with all the weather nonsense too. You were all so friendly and welcoming under that added pressure. Thanks again and Happy 4th of July!

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! It's dirty and the food isn't nice!

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Food was absolutely delicious and the gluten free options were awesome! 10/10 would dine again

Visited Misty's diner in Prahran on Saturday for lunch, as always the burgers are the best! However I can't say the same about the waitress working. She spent so much time out the back, while customers walked in, waited and walked out after no one greeting them. I was very surprised to see only 4 people dining in on a Saturday lunchtime. I now know why. Such a shame as it looks like this great place is going downhill very quickly :(

Overpriced and overcooked
BumblebeeDisco
Staff were nice, I enjoyed the food and dining experience here

The price is on the higher side, as the burgers range from about $12 for the cheeseburger with no fries, and up

The food came out pretty quickly, about 10 minutes after I placed the order
Michael Stephenson
The food was quite bland and meat quite dry on the platter which we ordered. Unfortunately the price didn’t match the quality we received.

On the upside, the staff were friendly and accommodating.
Melbourne Food Wanderer
whenever i see pork/beef ribs on a menu, the inside of me does a little dance of excitement 💃 down here they don't hold back on the portion. These were some BIG ribs! full of meat and a great rub 😍 cause no one wants more bones than meat 😊 9/10 for taste, size and price with the ribs themselves 👌☑

I was really looking forward to eating here, as I had previously dined at the Prahan restaurant and loved it. This time was an absolute disappointment and a huge rip off. While the restaurant itself appeared cute and a novelty, the reality was awful. Bad service from the beginning to end - a waitress who ignored me while I was waiting to order. There were two tables of people in the restaurant and I was the only one ordering, but had to wait as she tapped away on the computer screen, without greeting me. Trying to place an order with her was a huge effort as she couldn’t answer most questions I asked, I had to say ‘don’t worry about it’ and move on. The set of 4 serving plates were dumped on our table, still wet. Our food started to arrive - an onion ring tower that was decorated with 3 ‘leaves’ of lettuce on the bottom of the plate - absolutely no care whatsoever. A random plate of fried chicken arrived and we were told that it goes with one of the meals. We had ordered fried chicken and waffles and it didn’t turn up. I had to go and ask for it while asking for cutlery to eat with and the waitress brought out a waffle with cream and ice cream and said ‘here you can put that chicken on it’. another waiter came over to say he had brought the chicken out too early, before it was ready, yet no one offered to take the dish back and make it properly . Our one milkshake we ordered turned up almost at the end of our main. Food was awful - cold, obviously microwaved, dry and tasteless. We thought we’d get a brownie dessert to share and yet at 6pm they had ‘run out’. All this for $150!!!! what a joke and a rip off. To top it off the dumpster in the middle of the car park reeked and it’s really poor form to see the mountain of broken chairs and furniture dumped behind it for all to see. will never come back here.

five stars is not enough! delicious food and Misty is amazing! she made the time to sit down and have a drink and a chat with us. wonderful experience :)

Ahhhh!!! This place is a gem especially coz it so close to home. Never realised reservoir had such an amazing place like this. The curly fries are kind of my favourite and their burgers are so juicyyyy and droll worthy.
The staff are pretty chill so that makes the place even more cool.
P.S. the food take a good 15-20mins to come to your table after your order, make sure you don’t end up staring at the other peoples food (its creepy) 👻👻
And did i mention the Nutella pie they have, its best served hot with a side of whipped cream and vanilla ice cream for the ultimate goodness, so much that we ended up ordering two
Mic.tom
Cute local diner. Retro atmosphere is like a little slice of America. I had the Trailer Trash chicken which was well-cooked. Nice gravy. The garlic bread was a bit tasteless. But a decent and generous-sized feed overall and Misty herself is charismatic and wears her heart on her sleeve.

COULD RATE THIS SO-CALLED RESTAURANT A ZERO IF I COULD!!!!!!!!

Walked in with high hopes after looking at some photos on Instagram thinking it would be a decent place to dine at. After ordering our food, we waited OVER AN HOUR. We observed as other customers who were there after us, receiving their food before us. We also saw MISTY (the owner/manager) herself and two workers sitting down and EATING WHILE WE WERE WAITING FOR OUR FOOD!!!!!!!!!
This instantly ruined our moods even further.
FINALLY when our starter arrived, we were handed two serving plates- one with oily finger marks and gravy smudges, and the other wet.
Mozzarella sticks tasted like they were heated up from the freezer. $17.99 for five mozzarella sticks? I think not.

After finally receiving our mains, we were SO disappointed to see that we waited so long for food that didn’t even taste partially decent. It was cold, soggy and just plain horrible.

Misty frequently scolded at the workers for small mistakes, and spoke rudely about a trainee whilst standing behind me.

There was an instance where she came over and asked if we were using the sauces for the buffalo wings. She didn’t recognise one sauce, asking an employee what it was, then picking it up and smelling it and putting it back down.

We payed $95 for the most ridiculous experience ever.
It was the most overpriced restaurant in an area such as Reservoir.
We are never ones to complain or be rude customers, but something just had to be said. We asked for at least a partial refund, however she suggested a voucher for our next visit. Hunny, there will be no next visit.

Fun ambience, I really like the retro diner look and feel, obviously on point for the style of food being served here.

The food I can’t complaint about, portion sizes are huge, it comes out reasonably quickly and tastes good. I don’t think we’ve had a bad meal here. Some other reviews have complained about the meals being full of grease, I can’t really agree, they are somewhat greasy/fatty but that’s just the style of food being served here, who goes to an American diner for health conscious options?

The service was pretty good, with the exception of the owner who at one point came out and started berating the other stuff about not cleaning tables quickly enough. Fair enough, but perhaps do this behind closed doors, I don’t want to hear you having a crack at your staff. It would have been a 4/5 if not for this
Jenny
The staff were friendly. Lots of varieties to choose from and good food. Nice to see all the American branded food and drinks available. Very retro diner

We have been here a million times and the food never disappoints!
Don't like the way you need to go up and order. I miss the way the staff would come to you, gets way to confusing with a large group...
Has always been a tight squeeze but adds to the atmosphere.
AJ
Food was classic American, I love the menu it is literally just like a classic American diner. The northern suburbs. You can buy hot Cheetos from this place it makes it legendary!

Came to Misty's on a Friday night with a group of 5, for the first time and had a terrible experience. Food took an hour and 15 mins to come out. After about an hour we inquired about the food, at which point the manager seemed to become annoyed at staff - appeared that they forgot our order. Had other tables who had arrived and ordered their food much after us, getting their food first. When the food finally arrived it was sloppy and luke warm. Not worth the wait or the money, as we had spent $200. When we voiced our disappointment, we were offered some free fries - not offered apology from manager or a very good compensation. Instead the waitress told us that they were meant to have a group of 18 that night who had canceled, wasn't clear at all what bearing that had on our food taking over an hour. Will never come back.

First and last time I'll be eating at this restaurant....if you can call it a restaurant. Extremely long waiting time for some burgers, roughly over an hour and a half. Staff stated gluten free buns with burgers and ended up with small slices of bread. Didn't receive an apology or discount from the manager, very disappointed and would not recommend due to the lack of service and poor food quality.
Billy A
The wait to be seated, ordering and the food coming out is terrible!!!! My partner waited 15 mins to order a beer.

If you don’t mind a minimum of an hour wait for food, then definitely come here.
FoodingAroundMelbourne
Ergh. Not a fan. Food it too big and looks like slops on a plate. I know it's the style of food but all the ordered food is covered in gross American watery cheese and none of the food is of any actual quality. I am convinced people like it here because of the quantity over quality.
Amant De La Nourriture
A very deceiving restaurant. As you walk in, you’re amazed at the decor and interior. Everything surrounding you is 50s and 60s galore. Black and white checkered floors, tables filled with 60s news articles, working and flashing mini jukeboxes at every booth. That’s where it ends.

Food takes ages, it’s sloppy and horrible. Sent back the waffles twice, each time raw.

Nachos were average, there was no heat in the chilli. None at all, not even a slight taste.

Took forever to get our desserts after we finished our mains and they took a long time to come out. Mine was raw, sent it back. It took almost an hour to return with the next one. Cooked exactly them diner wasn’t busy. Two tables of two besides us.

Menu needs a look over, chefs need to be aware of the food they’re sending out. Waitresses need to be retrained.

Will not return.

Misty's Diner is a restaurant I made a reservation at, and walked out 20 minutes into arrival.
Upon entry, my family and I were left waiting at the stand longer than we should've considering there were available staff members. The staff did not want to be there in general.
The night we visited, the restaurant was very busy due to a walk-in group of approximately 20-25 patrons. The lineup to order went around the counter and close to the bathroom. In the 20 minutes we were there, the line had moved about 4 patrons.
The staff were inexperienced, and certainly the worst visit I have had at Misty's (I have been here before with lengthy waits, but no where near as bad as what it would have been if my family and I had stayed).
Unfortunately turned off from this place as I once enjoyed dining here when visiting Melbourne.
YUM
Visited Misty's in Reservoir for the first time on Saturday night. I had the Philly Cheese Steak with a side serve of 'wet fries', which was good. The others went for burgers and 'Trailer Park Trash' (buttermilk fried chicken). I noticed that staff at Misty's seemed slightly disinterested. The atmosphere was also quite chaotic, most likely due to the ordering system (once seated you need to line up, order and pay for meal at the counter, this took over 20 minutes to do), I think that a better system could be put in place.
Arty
After slow service, and an incorrect drinks order we were sorely disappointed with the fatty, bland and shabbily presented food. We wondered why our daughter ordered the chicken & waffles and when she recieved a deep fried chicken snitzel next to a waffle covered in icecream & cream, she wondered why too. The Taco fries were fatty and yuk. The big bucket which boasts 750g of ribs contained only 2 huge, tough ribs and 6 undercooked buffalo wings. The pork sliders were the only decent meal but the droopy lettuce that accompanied the sliderss was somewhat off putting. All in all a disappointing experience, we won't be back.
Francesca Carolillo
The food was so yummy, the portions are huge and honestly the staff are so friendly they make you feel as if you are part of the family. This place has become one of my favourite places to eat. Honestly not a bad word to say about this place :)
Michael Nguyen
Friendly staff. Food was extra fatty however tasted average. Ordered the chilli dog. Broke upon eating straight away due to the fact that the bread was sliced all the way through. Very messy hot dog and needed more flavour. Might try the gerkin hotdog next time.
Jpad
Portion sizing is huge. Definitely American sized. Food is nice service is great but would be carful when ordering as the portion sizes are huge. Can be pricey for the area.
Chris Cappola
One of the worst food experiences dining out in a long time.
The service was awful (servers had attitude issues) but that wasn't the biggest problem- the food was badly cooked (cold, sloppy, burnt, smelt funny... you name it we had it). 2 of us got very sick that night, the other felt off but didn't spend the night in the toilet. We left so much food and paid a fortune for it. All for an experience but this place is cheap and a MUST AVOID

We attended last night with a large group of 14 people and sat near the window. We were a bit squashed with people trying to get past to order and maybe we should have been sat up the back. I think you need a welcoming staff member to approach the table to explain how it works as we were left to work it out ourselves. Our meals took a while to arrive and as some finished other meals were just arriving. Most enjoyed their meals but the presentation needs to be ramped up. Plates and dishes were not removed and we had to ask for them to be removed. The atmosphere is great and it can be a fun place but the staff were young and inexperienced and need a bit of guidance. A bit of effort and you would have people lining up to get in. Also the staff did not know the price of the tee shirts etc. That is not a good sign. Overall we enjoyed it but it was memorable for the wrong reasons. By the way the ribs were great.

Came here with my partner for dinner, it was quite the drive but we were really craving some proper American food. The restaurant was great, good atmosphere and appropriate theming to an American diner. Our food took 45 mins to come out and being pretty quiet we weren't too pleased. The food was mediocre and very average. The portions are big but for the price it wasn't worth it. The Mac and cheese balls and animal fries were my favourites, the burger and chicken wings was very disappointing, the burger was dry and lacked sauce. Glad I tried it. Would I go again? Probably not.
TwoFatWogs
🤚Let's start off with the waitress she obviously didn't want to be there ,horrible greeting skills couldn't understand a word of what she said . Spilt sauce all over the table never cleaned it up... and I'm still waiting on that jug of water ,lol as well as that my order was wrong.
But there was another lovely girl that was working that you could tell she wanted to work and left her negativity at home .🤚
🌭let's talk about the food🌭
Mac n cheese balls are definitely a must when you are coming here👌👌
🌭🍔🍟hot dogs are like the size of 2 hamburgers 🍔🍟🌭
And Chips were super delicious 😋 Crispy and very fresh🍟🍟
The atmosphere was awesome I really enjoyed it something that you don't see everyday 🇺🇸
Overall food was good 👍🏽 but the waitresses attitude needs to go🤚🤚

If nothing else, Misty's Diner in Reservoir gives you the opportunity to experience the most expensive worst tasting burger that you can find. I paid $20 for a burger that miraculously was bereft of any flavour whatsoever, seriously it was the most bland thing ever. Such a rip off.
Urban Avenger
Whole reason I ordered from here (via UberEats) in the first place was for the vegan cheese in the chilli cheese fries.
After accepting my order I received a call notifying me that they were out of vegan cheese and that I'd have to contact UberEats for the $3 refund that I paid for it.
After telling them that I didn't want to have to deal with UberEats over the phone and to simply give me anything to the value of $3, I ended up receiving $3 in gold coins along with my food, which was surprising but not unwelcome.
Overall the food itself was okay, definitely does not travel well and is better enjoyed in-store.
Definitely need to work on the communication between UberEats and the restaurant, as I know there is a way to mark items as unavailable on the UberEats menu.
Not great. Waited over 45 mins for food when the restaurant wasn't busy at all. Staff seemed like they didn't want to be there. Food was bland, greasy and made us feel a bit ill afterwards. Portion sizes were large, but the quality of the food is not great at all. It's expensive for what you get. The only positive was that the basket of skinny french fries we ordered were actually good.
Linda
It was hot and dry day today and we decided to go for a quick bite here. Everything that we ordered was below average. The burgers were bland and dry making me regret not ordering drinks. The brownie dessert took a while to come but we kept our patience and positivity and thought to ourselves that dessert must be really bomb and worth the wait. But we were wrong and our high expectations shattered despite the decent presentation. The brownie was again dry (sensing a theme going on here haha) and we were told the guy lost track of time and what he was doing and forgot about it but oh well people make mistakes! Overall service and the place was good.

After seeing a few tables dining inside I thought maybe it was going to be good. Hmm. I liked the idea of the place- cool American diner... Jukeboxes.. but it just doesn't do it well enough. The burgers aren't TASTY or decadently greasy or caramelised or anything.. They're very average bread buns with a few ingredients whacked inside and they lack pow and that gross American greasy soul that you would come here to quench the craving of. And they're a total rip off! $$$.
Service is not great. Seems like they hire inexperienced staff who learn on the job. Friendly but forgetful and a bit ditzy- but hey, you have to start somewhere.
Won't be back..
Micky
After being recommended for years NOT to bother with this place, I decided to ignore all naysayers and give it a crack.

I ordered the Double Whammy burger, which cost $25.00 (I repeat...$25.00), without any sides or drink. Chips cost an extra $6.00 + $4.00 drink, so you're looking at a $35.00 meal.

The verdict ? You would expect 'a level' of quality given the price, however the burger was a real disappointment. Meat pattys were tough, dry, and had no real taste. You're better off going to your local fish'n'chip shop.

Also ordered the 'mactastic', which included garlic bread, mac'n'cheese' and mozarella sticks, all of which were of real poor quality. The cheese tasted like plastic-sliced-cheese, and i couldn't even finish the garlic bread.

Burgers should not cost $25.00 in Reservoir! Not worth the trip !
Nathan
Portions are fairly large, as expected being an American style diner. However, food quality doesn't match its price. Extremely overpriced for the quality of the food you're getting. Poor interior design and uncomfortable seating. Not worth going back at it's current price-point.
JP.
Ordered the big breakfast and the 24hour pulled pork sandwich and little more. I say it's average meal for those two with an arm and a leg your paying for. The Mac and cheese balls in the other hand, tasted unpleasant and the long black coffee was pretty diluted. Service was nice though.
Clare Bear
Food is good, not wonderful, but better than, say TGIF, as far as American food goes. Prices are a bit OTT given the kind of food, although portions are generous. Everything is greasy and fried (as it should be in an American diner) so great for the rare indulgence. Service is inconsistent, sometimes friendly, sometimes downright rude.
Anar Mir
The Western & Bacon burger was the choice of the day with a beef patty, American bacon, sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, mayo, 3 onion rings, and topped off smokey BBQ sauce truly left us Westernised!

No small portions to be met here with a hearty and greasy meal that will leave you lad-satisfied. If its a smokey BBQ burger you're after, then it's a smokey BBQ burger you'll get!
Zara Osca
AMAZING. The food was outstanding and so filling, plus so cheap! The Mac and cheese was out of this world. Would highly recommend, with an authentic American feel and hospitality .
Sean
If you want great American food this is the place to go. The double whammy burger is a big burger full of flavour and the animal cheesey fries are absolutely superb. Awesome service not one complaint. The only place I buy a burger.

I'm a Gumtree addict. I love the thrill of the chase and hunting down great secondhand items at low, low prices. Plus, more often than not, the quality of properly-made, old-school furniture is infinitely better than the mass produced stuff that's manufactured in an overseas factory with less than stellar workplace safety and environmental credentials. This time, the hunt for a bargain led me to Reservoir for a gorgeous baker's stand.

Had previously left a good review for this place but as time went on, the review became less deserving of praise and more warranted as disappointment. The food quality began to lack and the service was pathetic at best.
More than once I had a waitress forget half the order.

If I wanted stupidity and sub-par food, I could have stayed at home and cooked for myself.

It's good at what it wants to be: a classic American diner. You can get better food elsewhere, but if you want Americana this has it in spades. Fun.
Sharna
Had lunch here today, the resteraunt was quite busy and the waitress kindly let us know there'd be a wait on our food. Food was all yumm unfortunately it seemed our chips had been cooked too early before being sent out as they were cold and the cheese had gone abit hard and plasticy.
Chich
wow not sure why everyone is flaming over the price, I understand money's not always in abundance but menus and prices are posted online, this is a 'boutique' venue, if the cost is too high then don't whinge, just eat elsewhere... in saying that, probs are really decent for what they cost!

Onto the food, before anything you need, not want, NEED; to order the Oreo white chocolate thickshake. Simply amazing! The rest of the food was really good too, sure some things weren't to our particular tastes (I get the feeling Americans really like their grilled cheese with a side and topping of more cheese) but that doesn't mean the food was bad by any means. Bucket of wings were really great, burgers and hot dogs were full of meat and the menu was plentiful for those that don't know what they want.

Were here on a Saturday night, the staff were absolutely amazing (even had one poor guy stop eating his food whilst on lunch break to explain every single item on the menu to us!) and the place literally packed out in 20 minutes and had literally no more room to sit anyone. Reviews on here are majorly underrated, this place is definitely worth checking out!

A firm favourite, my experience did not disappoint. The staff had myself and 20 friends to serve today and they were friendly and great fun. The food as always was fantastic. Great place for a gathering of the clan.
Ginny
Over priced crap food.
I love burgers, Fries and all that good stuff and I wasn't excepting anything gourmet from Mistys but geeze it's like they're not even trying. The burger was horrid, I forced myself to eat half of it and that was only because I had to take out a second mortgage just to afford the thing! The roll was like one you buy pre packaged at the supermarket and the whole thing fell apart when eating it. It was bland and not worth the money.
The waitress clearly didn't want to be there and whole place just gave off a 'We don't care so we'll just do everything half arsed' vibe.
Never going back.
Simona C.
As requested by the waitress who sarcastically stated she was expecting a bad review, here it is:
I was hoping to spend a nice Saturday night yesterday and the waitress almost succeeded in ruining it.
I was welcomed by a this girl who looked like she didn't want to be there..when it was time to order I was being served by the same person. I asked about the size of the bowl of chilli con carne and the answer I got was: 'it's a bowl, so..' . How can I not know how big a bowl is? I've only got about 5 different sizes at home, but anyway. We later asked for dessert, we had to change 4 times and each time I was rudely told they didn't have it. In the end I gave up. There would be a lot more to mention, rudeness, arrogant attitude. Always from the same girl at the counter. To finish off, at the end of the night sarcastic comments were made about the whole 'dessert and waitress issue'.
It's a shame because the food was actually nice and the other waitresses were friendly. This is how one girl can ruin a restaurant's reputation.
Not recommending it, at least not on Saturday night
Bri
I ordered a bucket of wings and it was very yummy ! We also ordered gravy chips they were Devine. The service was friendly and they made you feel like you were in America.

Definitely going back there soon :)

I stupidly looked up the reviews here after I had already ordered. Yet again another place that supposedly specialises in burgers. I ordered the signature burger what a mistake. A dry half stale bun with a dry tasteless meat patty, extra special bland sauce etc. How is this place in business? People would only come once and never again. $15.90 for a huge disappointment.

Nice idea…terrible execution. This is the kind of place TV restaurant makeover scouts look for as a fixer upper. Way overpriced. We sat down and our coffee arrived 20 minutes later - it was burnt, over frothed and watery, undrinkable. The wedges were not wedges, they were curly fries. The chicken wings were dumped onto a celery and carrot that looked to have been barely cut in half and then drowned in balsamic. My burger contained a rubbery omelette which was entertaining. It was topped with a small whole chorizo - not what I had in mind when I saw 'chorizo' with the burger. They took 30 minutes to produce this burger so I'd have expected more effort. Tasteless and fatty. The music was great but the sound system was offensive. The waitress was fine but she was alone. I think the furniture predates Melbourne. In summary, we came away feeling we had abused our bodies and our wallets. Never going there again! Sad part? There was plenty of foot traffic going by, they should be pumping, I sat there planning a takeover!

Misty’s is absolutely killing it when it comes to the American food. The entree was enjoyable, the desserts were amazing, some of the shakes and burgers I saw coming out of the kitchen looked absolutely insane …

We ordered a variety of food for the family and almost drained my life savings to pay for it... But wow everything was sloppy and not even tasty. They gave us the wrong sliders too but fixed that up free of charge but both versions of the sliders were horrible. The wet cheese fries were the worst I've ever had.. friendly service but not worth the money.. but if you go late on a friday night you might be lucky to see some pissed locals fighting over the 7-11 carpark. Bring back Red Rooster..

Very greasy, overpriced food. Love the idea of an American diner but this place has a lack of any sort of inviting vibe and/or decor! Try Huxtaburger instead :)

Rang before going to see if they had Key Lime Pie, yes they said all good. Had a good meal giving my hubby half of mine to fit in the pie, order it waiting.... To be told they don't have any! Not happy went here just for this. Staff good & friendly. Music great decor nice. But very disappointed with no Key Lime Pie especially as I called before going.

Not a bad eat. My husband and i enjoyed our meals. Food is very greasy but thats what we experienced at diners in American anyway. Will go again.

Been here a couple of times and the food is really good! Customer service is great as well, friendly staff!! Will definitely recommend to friends and family!

I'm giving this place a 2.5 out of 5 because when we arrived we were hungry and when we left we weren't. Food was pretty much as expected, with portions and healthiness as expected from a faux American diner. What let this place down were it's staff. There was one waitress on and maybe 3 or 4 tables of diners, not busy by any means however she kept on apologising saying she was rushed off her feet. In truth she just couldn't be arsed. Tables were still covered in plates from previous diners, took maybe half an hour to get water, in fact I didn't get my drink I first ordered until I got up to purchase another drink for my husband. I wanted to purchase another beer which came to $8, handed over my card and was told there was a $10 minimum purchase on card, never mind that we'd just ordered $90 worth 20 minutes ago. I was told I could buy some candy or a drink to round it up, ironic as I was still waiting for my first drink. I don't understand places that have these so called minimum spends on cards, if they are charged some sort of minimal fee surely it's not worth missing out on the sale of a drink? But then the killer... the baby change facility. It's not in one of the bathrooms, it's just outside the bathroom door. Now, my 7 month old son is pretty cute and I don't mind showing him off, I feel more for the diners sitting less than 2 metres away from a baby having his shitty nappy changed as he hollers and squeazes his junk. That's enough to put anyone off their animal fries.

I came here for some American burgers and wasn't disappointed on that front! I wish I could've fit in more items on the menu but my burger and fries with bacon, cheese and spring onion filled me to the brim! When I finally had space for dessert the pumpkin pie was a let down, I guess nothing beats home made! If you're after a novel experience and some good burgers Misty's is the place.

I don't know what people expect when they go to places like Misty's. I certainly don't think I will be served meals that require a fine palate to ascertain the complex array of ingredients. I do expect to receive hot sloppy food with some salt and sauces and this is what I got. I was under the impression I ordered taco fries but sadly my docket said "no". The chilli fries I did end up with was a respectable bean mix with some cheese sauce slopped on some chips, good stuff. I then went on to the footlong chilli dog. I didn't really want another serving of the bean mix but what could I do. This was also sloppily indulgent. There were no wow factors in what I had but it wasn't disastrous. Although my daughter had the sliders and all I can say is don't. Tiny dry buns with McDonald's style patters slathered in cheese sauce I think are blasphemy to the slider name. To finish off I thought I'd go the extra glutton mile and order a brownie mocha thick shake. I like rich desserts but even this was too much for me. Chocolate shake withe chunks of brownie. I swear I had a chunk come up in every sip I had. This would have been ok if I could have tasted some coffee flavour but all it seemed I could taste was some sweet coffee flavouring. A shot of espresso would have probably balanced the chocolate chocolate overload I got. As for service I thought the crew were all adequately friendly and helpful in their Halloween outfits even after the order mix up(I think they muffed it up but I can't prove it). All in all I would go back to Misty's because I don't have high expectations.

Excellent customer service, very friendly and proficient. Great food - the servings are huge! I'm vegetarian and enjoyed my veggie burger and curly fries :)

About 10 of us had dinner here one Wednesday night. I shared the meat platter with my boyfriend. We both found the meatballs soggy, chicken wings burnt, pork ribs FULL of fat and burgers as a patty in a bun (no sauces or other ingredients). I also had a side of curly fries and corndog which was delicious, but then again, not that difficult to get that right. Also had a thickshake and shared a texas brownie. Would of been so much better had the brownie been warm, not cold and hard as if it had been sitting in a display cabinet for 2 days. Food and 2 drinks came to a whopping $95. Will definitely not be back here for dinner, only for the thickshakes. Shame, because I had been here before about 2-3 years ago. They must've changed the menu as it was nowhere near as good as it once was.

Food was disgusting
Chips where dry, cold, tasted like a basket of spiders legs
The burger bun was stale the meat flavourless
The milkshake was very standard and highly over priced

Overall what your paying for is very overpriced considering the small portion size
And when you include the fact it does not even meet the basic standards of a hot food, you should not tolerate a business like this, needs to go the way of the dinosaur/titanic
Stay away srs

Appalling!!! I am still regurgitating!! I went for dinner to Misty's tonight and ordered the Chorizo burger, Mac n cheese and fried chicken. I took one bite of the burger and it was disgusting, I have never had a worse burger than this...the bun crumbled as I picked it up, the patty was not fresh- the smell and taste resembled dog food. My husband is an easy eater and even he couldn't finish a mouthful of it. On top of this it was accompanied by cold curly fries. The other two dishes weren't quite as bad but for the price definitely not worth it. This is the first time in my life I have asked for a refund on a meal!! I have been here a few times and had good experiences but when I told the waitress we weren't happy she came back from speaking to her manager and offered us some hot chips or a dessert. I am not one to complain and I hate confrontation but it just didn't sit right having spent $70 so I asked to speak to the manager, who mind you I saw in the kitchen dishing up...I waited as the waitress spoke to her and was then told she would be out soon...I waited for a bit and two other waitresses asked if they could help and I told them I was waiting for the manager, then one of them comes back and says that the manager has gone home sick!! Hmm... So I told her I just saw the manager dishing up in the kitchen literally a minute ago and the waitress insisted she just right at that moment went home sick...then the other girl says she is in the bathroom vomiting and I blatantly said I didn't believe either of them but they continued to insist. I was probably the most pleasant unhappy customer to deal with as I was not angry, I just wanted to make a point in hope that they would take the feedback and work on it so that in the future if any of my family or friends wanted to go there I wouldn't say "No" due to this terrible experience. Unfortunately I think that might have to be the case now because no, the manager did not come out to speak to me and I honestly dont know how someone like that can be hired in that role!! Please re-train your chefs and staff Misty!!

I just ate at misty's reservoir for the first time in about a year it was the most disgusting food i have every eaten and i dont normally complain it was bad. We were starving and couldnt eat more than one bite each. We told the waiter and she offer us a sunday for compensation. I would not recommend mistys to my dog. DONT GO

Great tasting food of an America standard.
Went there on a Saturday night. Fairly busy.
Only down side was the price coming in at $145 for two adults and three kids. We had few entrees and kids had some shakes in addition to their kids meal.
Beccy's Adventures
Our second time at Misty's and again, it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere itself makes you feel like you're at an American diner in the '50's. Great vibe.
Service was efficient and helpful. We weren't waiting any longer than 10 minutes for our drinks and meal.
As the photos suggest, we ordered the 'Brownie' and the 'Captain Crunch and Peanut Butter' shakes, along with the Pig Out Platter. It's more than enough to feed two people so be sure to bring your appetite with you.
Chocolate lovers will love the Brownie shake, like a chocolatey milkshake with pieces of real brownie inside.
The Captain Crunch shake will appeal to any peanut butter lover. With pieces of Captain Crunch cereal throughout, this creamy shake is a big explosion of peanut butter and whipped cream.
The Pig Out Platter as mentioned above is more than enough to feed two hungry people. It comes with array of bite sized pieces, from meatballs, chicken wings, chicken pieces, and pork ribs, it'll suit any meat lover's palate. Along with a side of wedges, onion rings and french fries with dipping sauces (BBQ, Ranch, Sour Cream and Buffalo) it's the complete 'American' platter and a way to get a taste for a variety of things on the menu.
You will leave feeling very satisfied. A highly recommended eating spot.
All in all, another great Misty's experience. I'll be back soon!

Went for dinner with a group mid week, service quick and staff were very friendly and willing to help. Cute atmosphere.
Food was...nothing special. Burger seemed to be thrown together, and the meat in the burger cooked all the way through giving it McDonald's vibe and taste. Cool if you're into that but with so many other burger options around...probably won't be back.

Went here for dinner a few months back and really wasn't to bad. Loved the American vibe and such a large variety of American style food on the menu! Food was nice, but took a very very long time to come out, and the space between entrée and main was quite literally 5 minutes... we were still eating entrée when the main was placed at the table. That was quite inconvenient.
Very very busy and loud atmosphere, perhaps better to go during lunch.
Hugkoala
not really bad, but nothing to rave about.

I ordered the Mac Daddy Dog, curly fries, drink
My friend ordered Misty's Burger, flat fries, drink

total bill: approx AUD$60.00. A bit too pricey for so-so meals.

Dinner. 2pax. 16July2015.
My Babes And I
My babes and I had wanted to try the original Misty's Diner in Reservoir for a while but we never found time to go as it was a little out of the way for us. It wasn't until (full disclosure) one of my family members mentioned that they were going to start cooking at Misty's that I thought I'd make an effort to go.
From the bright neon light sign, to the American memorabilia hanging on the walls and the classic 50's and 60's songs being played through the speakers, Misty's Diner looks and feels like a diner you'd see in any city in America. My babes, her sister and I were seated and served by American accented waiting staff which enhanced the feel that you were somewhere in the United States.
From the extensive menu, we decided to share the Misty's Pig Out Platter between the three of us and I wanted to try Misty's American Style Burger.
The first dish to be served was the platter, which came out about half an hour after we ordered. I expected it to take that long as the platter was huge and the diner was packed tonight. The stand out of the platter was the pork ribs and the chicken wings. Both were seasoned nicely and we got a lot of them. The meat balls were okay but everything else on the platter (chicken bites, onion rings, skinny fries and wedges) was unfortunately tasteless. I guess that's why it was served with four dipping sauces which gave it some flavour.
Misty's "signature" burger came out next; it was big and looked impressive! Unfortunately, the look was the only thing good about it. From the first bite, it was just bland. The bacon and pickles were nice, but the bun, lettuce, onion and tomatoes were tasteless, the cheddar cheese wasn't strong enough and the "special sauce" tastes like it was just mayonnaise and tomato sauce. Not special enough for my liking. The biggest disappointments were the beef patty and the egg. The patty tasted like it came from a Maccas burger and the egg was WAY undercooked with some of the egg white being raw! A homemade patty with herbs and spices would've done wonders for this burger.
Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad, but it was far from being great and a tad on the expensive side for the quality we received. A part from some highlights, like the pork ribs, everything else was mediocre at best. The friendly and helpful waiting staff made it a more enjoyable experience for us. Although I won't be wanting to come back to the Reservoir Misty's in a hurry, I wouldn't rule out trying the Misty's on Chapel Street.

Food is tasty here. Waited an extended period of time to be served, it also took a long time to get our food. Ordered a slice of cherry pie to take home and was given a small frozen slice that needed to be heated at home.

This is where you can get a greasy, filling burger. It's the American diner everyone should try. I personally enjoyed my visit to Misty's. The only thing that bothered me were the fries. They seemed a tad too sloppy and discoloured. Other than that, their milkshakes are also incredible.
Joe Cool
Food tastey and filling. Worth a try.
Friendly staff and inviting atmosphere.
Plays alot of old rock n roll. More variety here.
Overpriced for burgers and hotdogs for the quality. This could be the reason why there weren't alot of customers. Overall moderately satisfied but needs improving.

An old friend and I had decided to head down to Misty's Reservoir precinct. In my previous experience, the Misty's division in Prahran was a disappointment- not relative to the food as such, but moreover the customer service. Sarcastic remarks and forgetting to expediate orders diminished our desire for a wind back. Feeling somewhat skeptical, we requested the Mac Daddy Hot dog, and the (OMG) Reece's Pieces pie. The act of assistance this time was a pleasant one, and quite prompt considering the Sunday night hustle bustle of customers. I was slightly discouraged after inceptive mouthfuls of the hot dog. I conjectured the bun to be fresher, softer and saucier as the beefy counterparts challenged my ability to swallow and the cheesy macaroni although flavourful, still could not preserve the lubrication essentially to overcome the dryness of the bun. The desert pie was outstanding and per individual bite; deliberately introductively procrastinated my saluting palate until all evidence had been regrettably destroyed. Thick peanut-buttery techniques overlapping rich fudgy dense chocolate confectionery complimenting whipped cream and vanilla ice cream drizzling in chocolate syrup. "OMG!" is a feeble exclamation by comparison to the tongue-teasing superlative contrasts. There are a copious choice of availability on a primarily pink theme lateralized menu (And pink employee attire, cute!) so it's a definite remixing and matching back to the Reservoir plane for us. :)

Have been to Misty's a while back and it was a good American food experience. Went back this time and it was really disappointing to see the quality of the service and food had dropped significantly. Had chicken wings and they were over cooked and dry :( Friend had a burger and was plonked together. Tables were dirty and whole decor just needs a sprucing up! Sad times.
Anna
Unacceptably bad. Just because it's situated away from other restaurants does not mean it can get away with serving terrible food at these prices. Mainly salt and dirty fat. The same money will get you distinctive food in a well-kept restaurant with friendly wait staff at somewhere like Belle's hot chicken on Gertrude St. This was a truly appalling excuse for food, poorly managed and no attention to comfort or convenience for diners. Go somewhere else.
Alycec
Absolutely in love with animal fries, no different than America! Best cheese fries I have come across
Minston
Cool place but way overpriced, chilli cheese fries were disappointing( something you could whip up at home with ease) should be half the price.... The hotdogs look good though and heaps of American treats and drinks

I just don't understand. I really just don't understand why there are bad reviews here.
Every single time I come here they never disappoint. And I go to both diners.
Staff are polite and food is always on point.
And don't even get me started on misty herself.
She is amazing! Checks up on your food and service. And not only that Her attitude towards Her staff.
So amazing!
I love this place!!

Consistent Satistfaction. Have been going to both locations for like the last 3 years and each time it hasn't disappointed. Met the owner of whom is a down to earth, warm, charasmatic and optimistic in which she treats you like one of her own. Food is to die for. Will keep going back without hesitation. Keep up the good work.

Peace Out Ashley Rowe & Kyle Bardell -xoxo-

Food and Customer Service. Some of the best service I've ever received going to any restaurant, friendly faces and warm people. Food was amazing and reminded me a lot of america itself. Steph was very helpful and had outstanding customer service skills and so do the other workers. Highly recommend for great night out.

Has to be the worst food on melbourne you could get better food from 7/11 across the road

Heard rave reviews, was pleasantly surprsied!. I arrived at misty's feeling skeptical as I had been to American themed restaurants before.
As we entered, we were greeted by a chirpy young waitress with a great welcome and smile, so far a good first impression.
We took our seats and ordered nacho fries (amazing), chicken bits and fat fries (also amazing) and, what is now my favourite, the mozzarella cheese bites, they are to die for!

Our drinks arrived promptly and our food shortly after. So far I'm impressed, not having to wait forever for the actual meal like other similar type restaurants. As I said the food was amazing, lots of flavour, and for two of us there was more than enough.
For a little over $50 I was definitely coming back.

When Misty herself came out to check everything was ok, and had a chat. That was it, I was sold. I was definitely going to tell all my friends to come here.

Highly recommend to anyone.

Amazing food with a friendly, warm and inviting atmosphere.. When we arrived we were greeted with a smile and sat in the pleasant ambiance of the 1950's American diner. We chose Nacho fries, chicken bites with fat fries and mozzarella bites. The shakes are incredible and came to the table almost instantly. The Nacho fries were a delightful highlight smothered in cream and all the trimmings.
Sitting outside Misty herself came and had a great chin wag with us and even provided us with a citronella candle should any insects arrive.
Overall could not have had a better time, will definitely be back.
Andrew
...a reasonable burger, it hit the mark in terms of overall American feel, but was let down by the meat. This could be a really good burger, but in the end, it just comes across as on OK burger. It satisfies, but at the same time it leave you thinking if only… I’d recommend only if you were in the area.
Mon's Adventure
Another extra, is that they have various fries with topping. Delicious, but fills you with so much guilt after the meal. I ordered the Western & Bacon burger ($14.90, above), mushrooms, BBQ sauce, onion rings, bacon, mayo and Swiss cheese, with a side of wet fries (fries topped with meat gravy).
Champagne And Chips
Misty's Diner has exceptional novelty value. The prices are a little high but if the overall experience was good it wouldn't matter. Unfortunately this time left me a little cold- like my sandwich. I may have to drop in again for a thickshake though.

Soggy buns and freezer-burnt meat. Had an awful experience here. Misty has completely bastardised the whole concept of a diner. Where in The States you get very well-priced, low-maintenance meals, here she offers overpriced, microwaved crap. If you want a decent burger, you're better off going to McDonalds.
We asked for onion rings on the side of our sliders and were told very rudely and abruptly by Misty herself that we would have to pay $12 extra to get the 'onion ring tower' (a measly 12 onion rings). Not long before our sliders arrived we heard the beep of a microwave from the kitchen, and sure enough, our sliders arrived with moist, thawed bread and freezer-burnt meat. They were inedible.
Misty assured us that none of their meals were microwaved and that they would replace our sliders (which made us wonder what the microwave could have been doing if it wasn't heating up something). The second round of sliders came back slightly better than the last, though the 3 minute turnaround was suspicious considering they were allegedly 'freshly made'.
After we'd forced our way through the new and improved sliders we were offered a peace offering in the form of 4 plastic cups of passion pop, which it seemed like the waiter was all too familiar with handing out to unimpressed customers.
No one who has experienced a true American diner could take this seriously at all - it appears their main demographic is unadventurous suburbanites who are happy to fork out $12 for 12 onion rings if it means they don't have to spend too long in the car with their screeching children.

Happiest place on earth. The staff are great they are very welcoming. They know their stuff when it comes to the menu. Food is fantastic everything came out hot and not long after we had ordered. The serves are huge and well worth the price. Mistys also caters for kids. my neice who is 5 loves this place especially the pink cadillac her hot dog was served in. My friends and family love dining at mistys and we will surely continue on an unhealthy regular basis :) keep up the great work misty

Amazing, had so much fun at Misty's!. You will definitely leave this place with a full belly and a feeling of contentment!

I went to Misty's (Resevoir) for the first time tonight with my friends and had a superb time. It's a super-authentic American diner. You'll hear classics in the background (think: Elvis & The Ronnettes), you'll see the big names, Marilyn and James Dean plastered on the walls and tables, and you'll enjoy so much food (Think: mammoth burgers, chilli-curley fries and peanut butter milkshakes) that you MAY have a fighting chance of finishing... It's a total experience.

The diner has a 'playful' atmosphere and fun attitude that sets it apart from many other (mundane) dining restaurants. This, combined with their AMAZING- ('omg- I should have worn stretchy pants') food, and INCREDIBLY awesome staff, you'll be pleased!

We'll definitely be back. In the meantime, I'll dream about my next opportunity to get my hands on another rum milkshake...thats right...I said -RUM- milkshake. Excellent.

What a treat!. Great experience! Helpful, happy staff, very tasty meal, and the most amazing dessert!

Misty's Diner Reservoir. Without a doubt the worest dining experience we have ever had. Waited 40 mins for our food. The burger was sloppy and had more mayo than any other ingredient. Waited 30 mins for a glass of red wine which was ice cold. Children's meal was sized for a 2 year old. Don't waste your time or money.

Very Unpleasant Experience. I prepared myself for something Big & Fatty, and I got it. But unfortunately I also got a cold burger, a dish which was absolutely disgusting on presentation, AND we had to wait 40mins for our food. There were 3 of us, and we all left very disappointed. A terrible experience. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Staffing communication and food preperation sucks. Lack of communication resulted in loss of customers and money.
Will never go back.
