Simplistic Food taken to a new level by some very talented chefs. Highly recommended
We occasionally bike ride through Rhodes and grab some food on the way. I have been here twice on such occasion, the atmosphere and food are amazing, they have a huge place, it won't make you feel like your sharing the space with crowds of people.
All of the best sellers you have to try, I ordered the chicken and waffle, the juicy chicken and the fried bacon together they made a great tasting savoury waffle
You can order a glass of juice with these yummy food, their juice is very fresh and the price is acceptable as well.
It was our first visit here and we weren't disappointed!
The place itself is nice and open, plenty of room between tables.
Staff were friendly and always at hand looking to ensure we had everything we needed at all times.
The tea and coffees we had were both on point and tasty.
The food arrived quickly and was exceptional! You can tell the quality is there right away. The chef knows what he's doing.
We had a very enjoyable experience for our first visit and we are looking forward to the next.
I live down the road so I regularly use the facilities next door to study and write in.
But I always drop by here for coffee and food. I get takeout and I know that must be a pain sometimes because they need to rearrange the prepared food into a takeout box and give me the accompanying sauces etc in separate cartons.
But the staff are always friendly and the helpful, the food is lovely and beautifully prepared. And the french toast I ordered came with a little syringe of maple syrup. I've never 'injected' my food before :-)
Went to this new cafe twice for lunch. The food is amazing and very instagram-able, tasty and at reasonable price.
The cafe has a beautiful water view and surrounding by community learning centre, children playground and parks. It is definitely a very family friendly place to visit, enjoy food and relax.
We love this place, food is fabulous, decor and atmosphere is contemporary and relaxed and prices are reasonable. We'd love them to take bookings for larger parties though, it would be a great place for special events.
Had a really lovely dinner there tonight. Food was excellent and the service was really good. Have eaten breakfast here before but not dinner. I would definitely have dinner there again.
Breathe taking view.. good food, friendly service. Excellent choice for breakfast. I would never hesitate to go there again.
This place is located just right beside the lake in Rhodes. If you love water, then this is the place to brunch to! You can sit outside, overlooking the beautiful lake. However, it can be really packed especially during weekends. I would suggest you booking in before you come. Me and my husband ordered the chicken waffle and the eggs Benedict. Both dishes were really good, especially the chicken waffle, so yummy! Price was decent, staff were okay, this place is huge and can b really full of people so it can really be busy at times.
‼️⏰ We went in on a Saturday at around 11am and the wait to get a seat for 2 was about 25mins‼️(we didn't mind waiting as we wanted a seat for outside because we had our dog with us)
I suggest booking ahead or going in at a less busier time for better experience
We got:
🥑🍞OG avo w/ bacon and scrambled eggs 9/10
- eggs were cooked perfectly
- generous with the avocado and bacon
- well seasoned with spices
- lemon and cherry tomatoes were a great addition
- good serving size
🍔 Angus Burger 8.5/10
- meat juicy and seasoned nicely
- chips came fresh and crispy
🥤Mango strawberry 8/10
- bit thick for my liking but flavour was quite good and wasn't overly sweet
🥤Red juice 7/10
- weirdly sweet and tangy but also a little bland
The food and drinks came within an appropriate amount of time and we were quite happy with our experience despite it being extremely busy.
Defs a classic brunch location to stop by~
Came here for the first time with my friend- despite it being a rainy day, the lighting and ambience inside Bare Witness were warm and inviting. I especially enjoyed the Bare Witness Waffles due to the combination of textures and tastes, as well as unique presentation. Definitely coming back!
With such a large space, even in the kitchen, you can expect great service and a great variety of food. I highly recommend a risotto because I used to think of it a simply a mushy rice dish but now my perspective on risottos has changed for the better! There's also waterfront views and is great for coffee.
Great place with a great view! Had the buttercrumbs benedict with mushrooms and everything was amazing! Unexpectedly, the lightly buttered croissant made everything taste that much better, along with the sautéed mushrooms and poached eggs. The truffled chips were big and chunky, so order them if you are really hungry! Would definitely come back again.
Came here on a hot summers day. Ordered the buttercrumbs Benedict with fried chicken. The croissant had a nice “crunch” to it and the fried chicken still had its crispy texture. It was a nice pick me up meal. Only downside was its high price (but that is to be expected these days) and its small portion. Price aside, it was a great meal and experience.
Lovely place to brunch at. Amazing views of the water and it does get packed on the weekends. It’s standard if not a little more expensive for brunch but it’s well worth it. The large coffee size is LARGE. The only thing that I would appreciate is more sweeter options for brunch as there’s only one (French toast with seasonal fruit).
A great venue with an decent menu and exceptional service. We had several lunch dishes all of which were good, nothing notably remarkable despite the higher price point on some dishes. Overall a good cafe experience, very popular venue with a high customer turnover; that said, given the amount of people they seat there is no need for a 1.5% surcharge for Visa/MasterCard. Glad I visited but won't go back.
The newly developed waterfront area in Rhodes has brought with it a new cafe for the locals to enjoy. I was really excited for another cafe near my area, and one that had a nice view also. Our journey to check out Bare Witness was a big family affair to celebrate a birthday, and it was such a wonderful one. One thing I will note here is that on the weekends it does get really very busy so it’s best for you to either call ahead, or be prepared to wait in line - but it’s worth it! Trust me!
Perfect place for a nice sunny day if you enjoy beautiful views over the sunset.
I’ve been here a few times and each time I am blown away by the presentation, quality in taste and their great service.
I love coming here for the magnificent views just as much as how they are super dog friendly here, also as a bonus - I can bring my dog with me to enjoy brunch outside together on nice days.
Tip: Don’t sit outside when it is windy because it can’t be as enjoyable, check the weather beforehand if you want to enjoy eating outdoors with a nice view :)
Also, if you are a cheese lover.. order the croissant w/ Mac & Cheese!

The venue is pretty cool, right near the water and the staff were friendly. The food came out quick and the food was very delicious, the French Toast was amazing and highly recommend.
Beautiful looking cafe situated right by the river side. Very busy on the weekends will have to be on waiting list during lunch time. The butter crumbs benedict with chicken was quite average more less with the chicken seems to be lightly deep fried with not much flavour, but to each of his own. On the other hand the french toast is nice and delicious not to sweet, just right.
Perfect brunch spot by the water in Rhodes. Bare Witness has a lovely atmosphere, although busy we got a seat almost immediately and staff were very punctual with taking our orders.
3 dishes were ordered to share including the Crumbed Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, the lobster risotto and the chicken and waffles.
Personal favourite would be the risotto since the lobster was cooked perfectly and the flavour of the risotto fused perfectly, not too salty and just delicious! The chicken and waffles were nice when drizzled with the sweet maple but nothing too special. I did expect more from the 'crumbed' eggs benny. For some reason, I was expecting the egg to be crumbed in some breading and fried with a runny middle? It just came out on a crossaint, still enjoyable but misleading title.
Brunch was close to $100 for two people including drinks, on the pricier side but I guess you're also paying for the view.
The overall atmosphere of the cafe was welcoming and amazing. Was greeted by friendly staff upon arrival whom immediately sat us down. She helped us order our drinks and gave us time to chat and think before ordering our lunch.
The hot chocolate tasted like every other powder hot chocolate. It was slightly cold and I wish it was a bit hotter for a Winter’s day.
The Buttercrumbs Benedict is something I would come back for over and over again. The overall dish was presented well and tasted amazing. The only critique for this dish is that the chicken was slightly overcook and burnt.

Although I haven’t dined here yet, I did enjoy a Soy Taro which was incredible. I’m excited to pop back and try the food as the menu looks amazing. The space is bright and airy with views of the river.
good view
good outdoor area when its not too windy
family/baby/pet friendly
good food!
polite and friendly staff
most food on the menu are very tasty!
This is a perfect instagram worthy place for coffee and croissant for sure!
The place was packed and there was crazy waiting for brunch!
Croissant was super awesome- just right crispy, buttery and almondy. Definitely coming back to try more.
Good food and tasty. Busy day but I have to say the staff can handle it and the food presentation still look great!!! Good vibe. Recommended everyone 😍😍😍

Nestled in the heart of Rhodes, this spectacular restaraunt/cafe offers an amazing waterview with a large indoor & outdoor dining area.
We arrived early in the afternoon and enjoyed the breakfast/lunch menu.
Highlight of the day was the buttermilk croissant - which offered a variety of fillings - I chose the smoked salmon and it did not disappoint!! Will be back to enjoy the dinner menu in the future.

Oriential seafood pasta was banging, while the eggs benny was danging. Eggs benny had lacking flavs and da benny wad lacking seasoning however preso was nice. Overall good first experience
Have been wanting to visit this café in Rhodes for the longest time and finally made it!
When I arrived, the café was already buzzing with life and packed to the brim with hungry customers. Staff were friendly, loved the vibe and short service time.
I went out on a limb and ordered the chicken and waffles ($21) on recommendation from another food blogger. Though an odd combination, the sweet and savoury coupling seems to be gaining traction in a lot of Sydney cafés.
When served, I was immediately impressed with the presentation. The bacon and chicken looked golden and crispy, the coleslaw cutting through the browns with some colour and the waffle looked enormous beneath the whole stack on top.
In terms of flavour, a tasty dish which is super filling. Personally, I am yet to be converted on this odd coupling. From the dish that I tasted that day, I would have liked more coleslaw, either in the burger, or served as a larger side. I also could have done without the espresso butter as I personally did not see how it was supposed to complement the other flavours. In addition, a little less salt would have been appreciated.

Bare Witness is a good place to bring the entire family and when I say entire... I mean it. They have ample amounts of tables and space, however you cannot pre-book.
Suggestion to them: pre-book for bookings over 10 pax?
I am yet to come here for the lunch menu yet, but the breakfast menu is very nice and the portions won't disappoint.
Service: Friendly and attentive.
Ambience: Lovely looking over the water. Can get busy during weekends.
Recommend: French toast and add bacon - the sweet and savoury gets me every time!
Set within the suburb of Rhodes, Bare Witness stands by the tranquil foreshore of Homebush Bay. The area has been redeveloped in recent years and various cafes and eateries have popped up to feed the hungry masses living in the multitudes of high-rises. Bare Witness serves as one such cafe, offering prime waterfront views with its floor-to-ceiling windows. To start off our meal, we began with some drinks to quench our thirst on this warm and sunny autumn day.
Rating: 3.5
Lovely food, lovely place, lovely view! Such an excellent place for brunch. I loved the whole experience. Will definitely come back! The pictures don’t give justice to how good the food was! :)
We went there for diner! The staff was nice and cared about the customer service. Not many dishes on the menu which I really like, it means that food is fresh. Wine menu is really good as well, with different wines from different countries. Recommend +
Came here for lunch and wow what a location. I was seated outside and the weather was lovely. The interior and exterior of bare witness is already a selling point for me. To start I ordered a taro latte which was a bit too milky- not enough taro. The food made up for this though. I ordered the eggs benedict with bacon mac and cheese and my friend ordered the chicken and waffles. The food was absolutely to die for. Will definitely come back.

Going on a Sunday at lunch time meant a 15 min wait however the food was served promptly. Both dishes we got, sweet potato fritters and magic mushroom were good but a bit pricy for the portion size. But I guess the prices are average cafe prices. My only complaint is the matcha pancakes aren't served past 11.30am.
We got the seafood oriental linguine and the chicken & waffle. Delicious! Food was tasty and flavourful, will definitely come back to try the breakfast menu.
I love the location of the place.. it’s so chill and showcases the beautiful lake. I like what me and my friend ordered. I ordered the poke bowl and mango juice. The portion was quite generous and I kinda like the taste of it
For a Saturday afternoon they definitely fill up fast.
We sat outside under the shade since we had a dog with us.
Waiters were all friendly and nice, even gave our dog bowls of water to drink.
We wanted to try their matcha pancakes but came too late since they stop serving that one item after 11:30am. Our waiter didn't know the reason behind it...
My French toast was light, sweet and the fruit was fresh. Maybe next I'll ask for the syrup on the side but otherwise a lovely dish.
The mushrooms were pretty tasty, poached egg could have been a little more runny but otherwise the dish as a whole was pretty hearty.
Cold brew coffee was easy to drink, fragrant and refreshing. Even bought one for the road.
Great Saturday brunch spot. Good food and a beautiful view that over looks the water at Rhodes.
13/7/19 update: highly recommend the chicken and waffles! So good
- Cauliflower Salad (4/5): Hot damn this was good! The fried cauliflower was nicely crisped on the outside but soft on the inside with pops of crunchy chickpeas and kale. The tahini was a wonderful creamy dressing and I loved every bite.
- Zucchini Bowl (3/5): This one needed a little more seasoning but everything was cooked to a t.
- French Toast (4/5): Can’t really mess this one up! The French toast is delightful, creamy and they sure don’t skimp out on the fruit (loved the poached pear!)
Breakfast haven for us. Wonderful food, beautiful presentation, friendly staff, view of the water. What else do you need to start the day right? Can get a little noisy however, best to come earlier in the mornings but absolutely one of our favourite weekend brekky places.
Came here as a last minute decision for Father’s Day lunch, we were lucky to secure a table and the staff was very accommodating. The food came out fast despite the whole place was fully packed due to Father’s Day. All I can say is delicious with Beautiful views next to the river that over looks to Wentworth point
To make a short story shorter, it’s much better than Left of Field and almost as good as Auvers...but if you factor in the bigger seating space (less waiting time) and you want a bit of a view...or impress you “study date” - there’s a library nearby so you can “study”...and not take semi long romantic walks along what used to be a waste dump...Bare Witness is your place!
The Salmon is recommended, it was well cooked with a crispy skin as well as delectable accompaniments of fried Brussels and gem potatoes with pancetta...or bacon - both as good right? But hold off the peas....frying peas, not the best idea....
The “oriental” seafood pasta, look oriental is in the name so we can’t say we hated on it cause - well it delivered what was promised, an Asian fusion pasta, kinda Tom Yum tasting bisque. Anyhow the seafood is cooked nicely and it is a really rich bisque so begrudgingly though we don’t like our pastas fusion confusion...we couldn’t fault you for what we got served - do try it if your adventurous....
Oh and the chips...damn don’t bother going to another place for ridiculously overhyped truffle chips...just come
here for something half the price that does the job...yes you don’t get real truffle and yes truffle oil isn’t real truffle but the “truffle oil” mayo you get along with the ample amount of sharp Parmesan...is what your stomach and tastes buds actually want - don’t act all pretentious, you wouldn’t even know what real truffle tasted like even if you choked on it; this part may or may not be directed at some unlearned friend, that just fawns over anything expensive and thinks it must be a culinary marvel....
Overall an awesome location with a great view. Food was prepared quick and was tasty and overall there was a nice quantity. We ordered the bulgogi beef bowl as well as the poke bowl. Both dishes were fine but nothing 'amazing'.
I would simply come mainly for the view and the ambience. It's perfect for a weekend visit with friends or even with a partner. Service was alright but could be better!
Tldr:
Service: Average
Quality: A bit above average - food wasn't amazing but still good
Quantity: good serving size
4.5/5
Pretty close to perfection :)
We were very happy with not only all day breakfast, but all day lunch!
Coffee was good, subtly sour and aromatic. Food is well thought out.
Loved the buttery croissant and mac and cheese. Chicken waffles were crunchy, sweet and chicken is flavourful.
The baked eggs were saucy, which appeals to some (only), mum didnt enjoy it that much. Lamb ribs were tender and fall off the bone, but slightly greasy.
Tried this place around Sunday lunch time and it was great! It was busy but we chose the option to sit outside and was able to get a table straight away (recommend sitting outside as the view of the river is amazing). I had the baked eggs which were very good, a little spicy and the pork was soft, with eggs cooked perfectly. Partner had the poke bowl and it was fresh with a nice hint of wasabi. They serve specialty coffees which were good.
I would give it 5 stars however it took a little long for us to have our order taken after being seated, in fact a couple who were seated well after us were served first. Coffees also came out after the food so that was a little unusual. The place was busy though so I understand somewhat.
All in all, will definitely be coming back in the near future!
Picked Friday to come for a brunch~ this place is amazing~ lovely staff, tasty food.
Magic mushroom 🍄: very tasty~ quite large in portion and very original dish. Highly recommend.
Poke bowl: I think miss a bit of taste.. add a drop of ponzu will be better~
View was wonderful, near parking, easy access. No app required but might be quite full during the weekends~
Good food and decent coffee. Personal favourite is the french toast and new seafood pasta. Amazing view around sunset so would recommend people to go around sunset to go in for coffee and enjoy the view.
I went to Bare Witness last week to see how good the food was, to my taste it was really strange. I had the croissant Benedict with mac and cheese with bacon. It was different to try but I don't think I'll try it again I'll definitely try something else on the menu. My friends had the backed eggs and wagyu burger. The burger was apparently really delicious and filling, however the baked eggs was a miss. We all ordered mochas which were really good and would totally go there again for a "pick-me-up" coffee.
The venue was nice and calming, great place to hang.
Tasty dishes but overall not a huge menu. Great staff, coffee and a selection of treats available to view once you enter. Great quote location by the foreshore and friendly staff. I highly recommend ordering the baked eggs with pulled pork & dukkah!
Combination of atmosphere, staff and food&beverage was perfect for us!
I had corn fritters with soya latte and there were just great. My husband had Croissant with prochutto and it was excellent too!
Croissant Benedict w/ Mac n Cheese: 😍 Amazing
Magic Mushrooms : 😍 Amazing
Avocado Bruschetta : 😍 Amazing
Baked Eggs : 😍 Amazing
Chicken & Waffles : 😍 Amazing
Coffee : 😍 Amazing
Honeycomb Milkshake : 😍 Amazing
Service : 😍 Amazing
When it’s a 5/5 rating you just know that everything was flawless. The waiters were so friendly and welcoming but not too in your face. The wait for food wasn’t long and the quality of each dish was beyond expectation. My favourites were the Chicken & Waffles and the Croissant Benedict w/ Mac n Cheese. Serving sizes are very generous. Coffee was strong and smooth. If we had space for dessert, believe you me we would of had some.
We made a reservation for dinner at Bare witness. A good decision no major complains. We ordered egg cosa as sides, lamb ribs from small share and pork knuckle as mains. The side was pretty disappointing and dint justify the price at all. Bunch of lettuces, bit of corn and half of a boiled egg. The egg was slightly runny, the way I like. That did cheer me up. The lamb ribs and pork was pretty good and quantity also was fair. We ordered the green juice served in a thin plastic bottle, tasted good but felt that it finished before I could even enjoy it.
Have to mention 'Bare witness', is definitely on the higher range of the spectrum when it's comes to the cost. If not the food, you will fall in love with the view.
Set in such a lovely area in Rhodes not far off the water, this place did shine! Ample of space, it’s perfect for a family gathering! The food was excellent. Everything came out looking delicious and fresh!! I would definitely recommend this place!
This place is worth the hype! The food is different and delicious, the staff are extremely friendly and the atmosphere was lovely. Would definitely go back for more! Also very reasonably priced with a beautiful view.
Nothing beats beautiful ambience, amazing service and delicious food ! First off the house blend coffee was comforting but unfortunately not very fragrant... The food however I cannot fault! The magic mushrooms are delicious with a weird combinations of flavours that surprisingly work really well together😂. The backed eggs was mouthwatering with a little spice and plenty of flavour. I will definitely be back to try other food on the menu.. maybe even stay for dinner 🤔🤤

Update 17/06/18. Refer to Bryan’s review posted a few days ago. Unclean mussels dumped into pasta. When queried, the answer was: our supplier pre-washed them therefore our kitchen did not see the need to check before cooking. Gosh.. your supplier do not serve to your customers ffs.. it is your responsibility to ensure what comes out of YOUR kitchen meets your own standard of taste, presentation n cleanliness. Keeping my rating as is for now.
Prev rev: Not resting on its laurels despite having no direct comp in the area with its unique location on the riverbank.
Summer mushroom w miso asparagus crumbed egg zucchini flower peas hazelnut crumbs pecorino prosciutto n brioche 3.5/5. Sounds too complicated but somehow works well as a dish.
Waffles n chicken w smoked bacon granny apples n pecan 3/5. I am never a fan of waffles jaffles crumpets pancakes, this aint bad as is. My missus enjoyed it.
As this is a huge venue, hailing floor staff can be the arm waving variety. We were there early but the place was almost full when we left.
Bare Witness is my absolute favourite for breakfast. I have had the best breakfast here so far. What an amazing restaurant with a view! I highly recommend it❤️
Great brunch experience in a well designed venue. One of the best coffee in the Rhodes area. Great walk for going into this venue makes you feel refreshed.
The sunny summer weather is perfect for cafés but when the mercury hits 40 and above, sitting outdoors or anywhere without air conditioning doesn’t make for the most enjoyable experience. This is where cafés like Bare Witness are perfect- it’s indoors yes, but the big open space with glass floor to ceiling windows facing the water means it feels like you’re still making the most of the great weather without constantly sweating.
Food was amazing here!! Awesome brunch spot and always buzzing. One of the best corn fritters I’ve EVER had and the black bun burger looks scary but was surprisingly delicious! Definitely a place I’d go back to over and over!!
Spacious venue by the water with outdoor and indoor seating available, Bare Witness offers a multitude of breakfast, lunch and dinner options. We ordered the french toast, chicken & waffle and the summer mushrooms. The food tasted great, portion + pricing were standard cafe type. The only downside was that the wait for food was a bit long.
Good location & great coffee. Casual Atmosphere. Not a huge menu to select from. Food was about average. We had the beef ribs, spicy chicken roll & croissant benedict.
The cafe is located right by the water and it's spacious, bright and clean. These days we really appreciate places where we can wheel the pram in and around without having to try too hard to avoid hitting chairs and tables, and this was definitely one of them. The decor was simple and modern and they have a big menu, they had a good selection of drinks and something for the little one's too. Even though they were full house, the food and drinks didn't take long to come out and everything was great, will definitely be back another time.
These guys do beautiful and delicious food!!! Great spot too. Coffee is a bit average....However the fruit salad and the Açai bowl are on point!
Situated alongside the water, Bare Witness provided lovely views and a unique menu. One of the stand out dishes being the black alaskan benedict - although, the flavour was only half as interesting as it's appearance. In terms of the variety of beverages, the cafe offered a range of coffees, teas, smoothies and fresh juices. During my experience, I was barely impressed by their version of a "frappe", as it was more like a watery milkshake.
We usually walk across the bridge from our place to Rhodes, we were excited when Bare Witness opened about 7 months ago. It is an absolutely huge venue right on the water at Rhodes. So big infact i never really see the whole restaurant utilised. We sit outside with @minniethefoodiepup and all the staff are really lovely and welcoming to her, we always order her a puppycino which contains whipped cream and a sprinkle of doggy kibble on top.
Great atmosphere and food! I tried the Seafood Pasta and it was so delicious. The portion was perfect and lemon is used as the base instead of the traditional tomato which was a nice change. My partner had the smashed avocado and liked it, with the exception of the cold sourdough that came with it. The service was a tad slow although admittedly they were also very busy. Our cappuccinos were on point. Overall it was really enjoyable and we will definitely be back to try their dinner menu!
This place is sooooo good. The coffee is define and there was this drink called an iced strawberry mango which was devine. For breakfast I had the Black Alaskan Benedict was amazing. Everything was great about it. The crab, eggs, black brioche, black hollandaise. It was just fabulous.
Bare Witness is always full packed! Love the location and atmosphere of the cafe. Full view of the waterside, what a way to share a good meal with friends.
Got to have my açai fix on this day and it was one of the best I’ve had so far! Most of the staff are great, but the specific one we called around was extremely silent and gave us a bit of a dull moment and want to leave.
The waitstaff were a bit slow to take our order but then our food and drinks arrived quickly. They were accommodating with our order and allowed us to omit undesired ingredients from our dishes. The French toast was delicious. And the coffee was good too.
Love the location, decor and atmosphere of this cafe! Located in front of the water, the view is amazing.
I ordered the smash avo - they are super generous with the avocado, flavours worked well together. Wouldn't have minded some extra feta and some lemon. I also got bacon and poach egg on the side which was perfectly cooked. The coffee was also good! Service is attentive, friendly and smiley.
There are a lot of options on the menu making it difficult to decide what to order! We really enjoyed our brunch there! Would recommend.
The first and the most impressive part of the cafe is the view and also it's beautiful inside. We had a short wait but got the waterside table so didn't matter much. Tried their truffled mushroom and it was yumm. Enjoyed every bit if it. The service was friendly and prompt. Highly recommended.
The vibe was good, the food was even better and service was extremely warm. The French toast was absolutely beautiful! They are so generous with their portion size, we enjoyed every bite. Defiantly will be back here again!
Came here for dinner. Thought the interior was really nice and the staff were friendly. The food came out promptly and was good. I liked the green tea deserts. I would love to come again during the day to enjoy the views but the ambience was still really nice .
When we got there, there was a line, approx 20 minute wait. We were fine with that since the scenery was great, there were heaps of dogs and things to look at so that the wait didn't seem long. The staff was really friendly but however got out food mixed up with another tables twice. I got the smoked salmon benedict, which was standard, very basic. Simon got chicken and waffles which tasted great. We also got milkshakes which were also standard.
Food: 3.5
Service: 3.5
We occasionally bike ride through Rhodes and grab some food on the way. I have been here twice on such occasion, the atmosphere and food are amazing, they have a huge place, it won't make you feel like your sharing the space with crowds of people.
All of the best sellers you have to try, I ordered the chicken and waffle, the juicy chicken and the fried bacon together they made a great tasting savoury waffle
You can order a glass of juice with these yummy food, their juice is very fresh and the price is acceptable as well.
Huge brunch place with great view. The placed was packed but service was very quick and nice. Ordered the parpadelle pasta and the truffle mushroom. Love both dishes, the parpadelle was cooked perfectly, the spicyness added a nice heat to it. The truffle mushroom was also delicious, and I personally like the bread they used here rather than sourdough bread.
Amazing location. The views on the water and the rustic interior were amazing!
The service was super quick and really friendly even though we went at peak brunch time.
I got the chicken and waffles. DELICIOUS! However, the chicken to waffle ratio was slightly off. There was a tower of chicken and bacon with a tiny waffle at the bottom. To be honest, that is a flaw only if you are being super picky. I would also recommend their pressed juices. I had the Strawberry and watermelon and it was beautifully refreshing.
Overall a solid experience.
Such a pretty place! I can imagine it would be really busy on the weekends.
The cafe itself is quite spacious and has indoor and outdoor seating. Would be so nice sitting outside on a warm day overlooking the water.
Bf got the chicken & waffles and I didn't think it looked all that appetising, and I think he wasn't blown away either. He said it was just okay.
I got the acai bowl which came out looking beautiful and it tasted delightful too! The house-made acai sorbet was really something. Perhaps a little too cold for the weather now, but it would be like healthy and delicious ice cream in the warmer months. 😍
Also ordered a side of toast, tomatoes, and mushrooms, because knowing me I would not be full with an acai bowl. Fresh produce so it was tasty also.
I have no idea what they do to their almond green tea lattes but it was heavenly. So smooth with the perfect amount of sweetness. Really wishing I could wake up early enough so I could stop by every morning just to get this.
We were given the window seat which had a lovely view of the water and blue skies. I ordered the truffle mushrooms which came with a variety of mushrooms on brioche toast and truffle mayo. Each element was delicious, my first few bites were amazing. However, it get very rich, very fast. There was a lot of butter on the mushrooms, the mayo was heavy, the toast was sweet etc... So there was no relief from all that richness. My matcha frappe was a bit strange as well, I felt they added some strange sweetener which left the drink with a perplexing taste. My partner ordered scrambled eggs which were lovely but his side of chorizo was very overcooked. Service could've been more attentive as well but I understand they are still getting used to the demand of a large and busy cafe. The concept and set up of the cafe seems great, they just need to work on the execution of food and service. I say it is still worth a try as it is a little gem for Rhodes.
Rhodes has another beautiful cafe! This newly opened cafe sits right next to Wentworth point bridge. They have a huge seating space and are busy during the weekends. The have a really good French Toast, it's got so much happening in there but the taste is fabulous. I believe this place needs to add some more vegan and vegetarian options in their lunch menu.
Another great new cafe in Rhodes! The breakfast menu consisted of some special dishes, we ordered the Chicken and Waffles (yum!) and something totally left field, the Black Alaskan Benedict (crab with a black hollandaise sauce). Quite different dishes for breakfast! Both tasted great.
Coffee was really good so we ordered a second round with some desserts, the lemon tart and apple crumble. The lemon tart was not as fresh as expected.
Service was awesome, friendly and polite staff. They also have a number of portable heaters scattered around the cafe, a major plus in this cold weather. Blankets are offered to patrons as well. Will return again for another meal!
Beautiful new restaurant in Rhodes. Menu is interesting & food is delicious! Try & get in early they fill up really quickly. We will be back :)
I've been to bare witness for dinner twice the first time I went I got the bw burger which was delicious and then the second time I got the barramundy which blew my socks off!!! It was the best meal I've ever had! Definitely going to go back soon.
The venue it’s amazing, the menu interesting and broad. The food we ordered (Clam Chowder, green bowl, bw burger) were really delicious. Prices are reasonable. However, even if service was friendly, waitresses were elusive, ordering took a long time, longer yet delivery of food and items were forgotten.
Overall good; If you have time and patience.
Service/delivery should improve.
Bianca: In the space of two years, Rhodes has gone from a virtual cafe no-mans land, to a cafe foodie destination. Thanks in part to my boys, Matt & Coco at Left of Field. Auvers Cafe was next to join the fold and now, Bare Witness. I’ve developed a ridiculous obsession with pancakes and will travel far and wide for them but…some days, I will settle for French Toast and waffles. A catch up with ‘Angular’ from The Girls Who Ate the World saw us at Bare Witness for a mid-morning Friday brekky. The space is massive and a little on the cavernous side, overlooking the Parramatta River and the newly built Bennelong Bridge, the outlook is sunny and picturesque.
We had heard about this cafe from some friends and had to try it out. When we arrived at lunch time they were packed. So we had to wait to get a table witch went really fast. They seemed little bit under staffed but they were really professional.
They must had 150 guest or more at the time but service was really smooth. We ordered and coffee and food came really quick less than 20 min. Have to say we tried the caffee across the street not that long ago and they had worse service and at the time less busy.
We tried the black Alaskan Benedict and the new clam chowder and steak and egg. What a meal. The head chef David claesson from hilton and ananas really balance the menu and uses the freshest ingredients. We have a new favorite spot now and a new best cafe in Canada bay/Rhodes area by far. This busy and this customer service and food, they will
Just be amazing.
Loved this place! Pinky decor and a great water view! The coffee hit the spot for me and loved the french toast too. Will go back to try something else soon:)
fall in love with the view and the pinky decor!
We ordered Black Alaskan Benedict and Chicken Waffle(can't remember the exact name...)
Black Alaskan Benedict is something new I have never tried anywhere else before, the taste was good but the bun was a bit dry.
Chicken waffle is very meaty...my friend considered it was "too much" but I may want to try it next time just because it is all meat!
the best brunch ever!
lovely food, staff that care about the customer and very pleasant surroundings.
We've dined here 2 days and it's been fantastic every day, even when it was busy. Can't fault it.
The size of this cafe is huge!
Was there for brunch in Sunday, waited about 20' for a table for 5.
We did ordered French Toast, Baked Egg, Crab Benedict with squid ink hollandaise, harissa marinated spatchcock and fried chicken with eagle and gravy.
The most Delish dish was spatchcock, portion just tight, some seasonal salad, vegetables and fruit incorporated on the dish.
The crab was good too, but I found the French toast is a bit overrated, and the fried chicken is super yummy.
Minds you that waffle a little too sweet for my liking.
Bare Witness was a Lovely experience. With friendly workers and especially delicious foods + a gorgeous water view was so nice to have. I highly recommend Bare Witness and will definitely be going again!
Friendly staff and very good service. Specially the food. Chicken waffle and fish of the day was best. Relaxing view and amazing view. Really good experience.
It was wonderful cafe and staffs were so kind. Preparing small blanket was brilliant especially for cold morning. I went there with my dog and had burger & coffee. The staff gave a bowl of water to my dog.
I visited today and They do "surcharge 30c" and that's why I had reduced review from 5.0 to 4.0.
Amazing coffee and food! Lovely customer service! At here you can have great baristas providing wide range of coffees instead of just the normal things like cap, latte or flat white. The river view makes it the perfect place for relaxing!
I did my wedding reception at the Bare Witness.
I had wonderful experience. Venue was beautiful and all the staff were very supportive and were very kind. Food were absolutely amazing too.
I want to say thank everyone for making this day so special!!
We had our early Valentines Day celebration here, love the food (prawn & lobster roll - huge portion and yummy, chicken skewer was juicy, tender). Also, the water view and great weather was bonus. Everything was perfect.
An excellent place to eat or drink.
They have amazing coffee, the orange juice is fantastic.
Also the deserts look delicious.
There are place to sit in and outdoor.
The staff is friendly.
The location is wow factor, you can see the water and with amazing decorations.
The only drawback is the early closing time.
Went here with my family and some friends on the weekend. The time to wait for a table was half an hour and you can't book ahead. It's fairly easy to kill time while you wait because of the location and there is a kids park nearby. Parking could be difficult when it's very busy but we were lucky. Most spots nearby have a 2 hour time limit.
Once we were seated and had ordered at the counter, the food came out very quickly which was great; faster than average I would say, and the place was at capacity. I had the Reuben sandwich and a batch brew, both were very nice. Other dishes ordered included the baked eggs, and the eggs Benedict. I would happily return.
Yummy food and beautifully presented, friendly staff and nice ambience by the water. Definitely a come back place to try out more of their menu. Smart fusion dishes and evolving.
Ordered the prawn bisque pasta and french toast. French toast was delicious, however for a $30+ pasta dish, it was very average, not much flavour. The Earl Grey and Black sesame lattes are definitely a must try. Service was quite average.
The food is presented beautifully and it is also delicious! Their coffees are pretty good as well. I love their eggs benny on the croissant. Their Nutella croissant is delicious too! They warm it up for you which makes the Nutella ooze. The service is friendly and very efficient. They give discounts if you pay in cash.
We visited this place again on Saturday, tried Soft shell crab with yellow Thai curry… And boy oh boy the dish was amazing! The Thai curry base was super yum. The base elevated the experience of eating fried soft shell crab, it also went well with Roti bread. Probably the only change would be to reduce the number of potato bits.
