An absolutely sensational performance by all at the Grand Hotel ,Richmond.
The meal was the best food I have ever had in Melbourne ! Plenty of it ,cooked to perfection and non-pretentious .The table also ended up with a plate of gnocchi which was outstanding. Comments made the 'best they had ever had'
The BELLAGIO room was classy with plenty of room for 8 guests.
The service by 'Dorek'? was outstanding . The food dishes explained and never an empty glass.He organised the time frame between starters and mains.A very friendly and efficient employee.

Hi team Grand! I am no stranger to the bar, I have eaten here plenty of times and it's always awesome, but tonight I had an experience I must share! My boyf ordered the parma (consistently amazing!) and I opted for the porterhouse steak. Given that I have my steak rare, ordering steak from bar menus can be hit or miss, but my meal tonight was an outstanding HIT! A perfect cut and perfectly cooked, every bite was like a slice of heaven. I couldn't fault it if I tried, it was perfect! Mad props to the chefs, they nailed it!
Outside of that, the Friday DJ is killing it with the tunes and the bar team are always on point with the love and homely vibes. You are all the best and I will definitely be back soon! Thanks xxx

I LOVE this place! It's a GREAT restaurant and pub. I've been quite a few times and have to say it just seems to get better every time. The brilliant Italian food in the Grand's dining room is AMAZING with an equally fine wine list. If your up for a pub meal the Lounge Bar has a GREAT pub menu. The Chicken Parma they serve in the Lounge Bar is the best I've had in Melbourne, I LOVE it! As for the staff VERY attentive and friendly. I highly recommend it.

If there were more than 5 stars then I would give it! Absolutely amazing effort from the functions staff that looked after us on my mums 60th last Saturday! The Nesso room that we were in was lovely. Shout out to Millie and Paul who catered for all 'demands' / requests and waited on us with the up most respect and with a smile! Lovely ppl. Food was outstanding. Your staff are unbelievable and we had the best night! Will certainly be back! ��
Everyone knows how much I LOVE yum cha....well now I also love ITALIAN yum cha! Complete with chopsticks and bamboo steamers for some items, this fantastic take on traditional yum cha is a must try!

We absolutely loved our dining experience here. Originally came here because of the entertainment book, and so glad we did. Our waitress was so incredibly helpful with wine matching, and the food was delicious! Their staple is the gnocchi, and it really was a melt in your mouth dish. My bf got the beef cheek which was tender and rich, and I ordered the mushroom pasta which id also highly recommend. A great fine dining option in a pub atmosphere.

This was my first visit to The Grand and I must say I was extremely satisfied with everything
We walked into an empty bar but I could see a busy dining room through a connecting door, which we entered and greeted by s friendly face. The table was well laid out with a folded cloth serviette and nice cutlery and glassware
The service was very polite and friendly and the food was exceptional. Primarily Italian cuisine, well presented and ever so tasty. You do need sides as the main meals lacked many accompaniments.
The wine menu is extensive with plenty of Italian offerings as well as Australian
We even had a lit candle on one desert as it was my wife’s birthday and all six diners really enjoyed their evening
You can register as a V I P diner and get preferential treatment in one of the private dining rooms, which are available.
When we asked about the VIP we were referred to the manager who sadly should not be the manager, but despite this cold individual we will be back again. Milan our waiter was awesome

We had my daughters 21st family Birthday lunch here - we were well looked after - food was fantastic - everyone happy - great selection of wines and the deserts were amazing - highly recommend private rooms upstairs and casual eating downstairs
The birthday degustation is the perfect gift for any foodie. The food is delicious and elegant. This is a great option to sample a wide range of dishes but you have allow for 2.5 hours for the 6 courses. We were told that the menu changes almost daily (save for some of the signature dishes) so we will definitely be returning soon! And to top it off, the host and wait staff were attentive and very polite.

The moment you walk into this place, and you get greeted by the waiters here, you know you’ve come to somewhere special. The wait staff seem to really care for their diners. The complimentary focaccia and olives was a delightful way to kick off the meal. We had some scallops (which although good was a relatively small dish) , the duck liver parfait (super rich, delectable and textural with the brioche), and probably one of the best gnocchi’s I have had anywhere. The gnocchi was well balanced, light and fluffy and the burned butter sauce and sage was delicious. We also had the swordfish (this was on the salty side tonight), and the pork belly (well balanced with the pear sauce and well cooked) for mains. And finally, we rounded things off with the Bombolina which was good (although we did expect more of it given the price). Overall, it was a great dining experience. Service was exceptional, food was good to great. Prices are towards the fine dining end. They were lots of locals enjoying their meals and you can see why. Will definitely come back to try out some of the other dishes.
Italian yum Cha at the grand, well worth a visit. The gnocchi with burnt butter which is apparently there signature dish was absolutely 100/10 one of the best. All the pasta was beautiful, lamb skewers, bruschetta, pork croquettes some of the highlights. A few dishes were just ok but overall a really good feed. Nice bar out the back as well.

Wow I was so full by the end. They were all so good except the risotto which was too sour and donut I didn’t like. Everything else was amazing, standout was definitely lasagna and pork belly.
Waiters were very polite and friendly and happy to help with whatever we needed. The food was amazing. I couldn’t recommend the gnocchi in butter and sage dish enough - amazing.
Not too pricey depending on what you order but you pay for quality.
Ate here recently for the first time in about 10 years. Don't know why I left it so long between visits.
This is one restaurant that seems to be unaffected by the rapid progression of Melbourne's hospo scene. They are still just doing their thing and cooking good quality food very well, and providing attentive and non-obnoxious service.

A touch on the pricey side (if you’re dining in the restaurant side of the pub) but worth it for at least one visit.
Food is excellent and portion sizes are generous. Overall the pub is a lot more refine and quiet than you typical Richmond locals however this may not be everyone's cup of tea. It is mine though, lovely staff providing excellent service. I was in the dining room so next time I'll be back to try the bar menu.
What a gem of a place. We had my dads 80th in the upstairs dining room. We had an absolutely delightful French hostess who gave us wonderful service and always made sure we had our glasses topped up, she was a credit to your establishment. The food was to die for, I can’t believe how much food there was, I was stuffed by the time entree was finished. The antipasto and calamari was just beautiful, I nearly fell off my chair when the meat and sides came out. There was such a generous amount, I loved the spiced apple and roasted onions with the pork, just delicious. The tiramisu and semi Freddo were perfect. Overall just a really quality dining experience and the food was nothing like I have ever tasted before. Thank you so much to our lovely French hostess again. I will be definitely recommending the Grand to all of my friends, kudos to the chefs, you know how to make beautiful food
Came here with my partner and had the 6 course degustation menu with matching wines which was incredible! Lots of interesting, well executed flavours and the meats and gnocchi were cooked to perfection. The service was also very warm and welcoming. I can't get over what a great experience we had, we will definitely be returning to this restaurant in the future!
The food is excellent and the food is wonderful. I’ve been to The Grand a few times and it’s been excellent each time. There’s a small casual pub bistro, a formal dining room and private function/dining rooms up stairs. The food has an Italian influence and is delicious from start to end. There’s often good special deals so the night won’t break the bank either
Came here for Christmas function last year. We had suckling pig, what a meal! Excellent service. The bombolini donut dessert was also delicious. Hope to come back!

Decided to try this place via the entertainment book. What a surprise it was! The food was amazing. All dishes were generously portioned and my favourite was the prawn spaghetti. The sauce was complex and rich whilst the pasta was cooked to perfection. We also had the antipasto plate which was delicious and larger in size than we had expected - a nice surprise! Service was great; informative and friendly staff who gave us a run through on this traditional pubs history. Definitely more than meets the eye to this one; a corner pub in Richmond with delicious fine dining Italian food!
Came here on my husband’s birthday and the birthday boy got to enjoy his 6-course degustation dinner for free!
From the reservation right to the end of the night, service was immaculate from Kirsty, the restaurant manager, who accommodated my request for us to try zucchini flowers, to the very dedicated and experienced waiter who served us with old fashioned humour.
A lot of care has been taken in the preparation and presentation of the dishes. Every item was beautifully cooked and balance in flavour. You cannot fault anything,really.
What a great end to the night. We look forward to returning in the near future. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

The Grand. Always on my list. Came for my free 6 course birthday degustation... still it’s not that cheap by the time you add alcohol (which, admittedly, is purely self inflicted). The bill came to $175, that was with one free degustation (worth $95). We did have 2 glasses of prosecco, 3 glasses of wine and a latte! I thought the alcohol was marked up quite a bit (it's around $15 a glass) and a little pricey. Anyway, onto the good stuff...
Service - excellent. The front of house staff have been there forever; and were extremely friendly and helpful. Gave us a table for 4 (for two people) as we would like to be seated next to each other, not opposite. Explained every dish, water kept topped up. The dishes came just at the right pace, and they seemed to know when not to disturb us.
Food...
Prosciutto with black fig and balsamic - very nice. Prosciutto was delightful and not overwhelmed by the balsamic.
Calamari - good flavours; the capers weren't very strong, but a nice olive oil lemon with a nice tasty char.
Gnocchi - yum. Great texture. Chewy.
Snapper - fish was great. The accompanying side salad was actually a highlight too. The heirloom tomatoes were fantastic, fresh, and what a tomato should really taste like. Wonderful contrasting texture with the toasted focaccia.
Spatchcock - maybe a little too balsamic, very well cooked and the meat itself tasted fantastic
Lemon tart - yum!! Wasn't too sweet.
I left feeling very very full and extremely satisfied. It's a pity I live a bit further away now.. Highly recommended. Thank you!
Food is always consistent at this venue and still packs a mighty punch.
Staffing is always friendly and attentive to the service of patrons. Went there in the week and was booked into the main dining room (which is a treat) however opted for the more informal bar area given that my interstate guests were so impressed at its colour, vibe and feel.
Menu is simple but offers enough choice for those wishing to venture into variety that is not generally offered at home.
Meals ordered were :
1. Parma (look great, large and amazingly delicious);
2. fish and chips - came out as you would expect and it looked super;
3. fish of the day - this was grilled and was cooked perfectly. great choice and well flavoured with fantastic garnish.
Beer was the drink of the day and as usual, you can never go wrong with a fresh tap brew.
I have eaten at the dining room a number of times and that is quite exceptional.
Decided to take advantage of the free degustation menu on your birthday deal. I am so glad I did as the food was amazing, the waiter was incredible and overall the night made my Birthday perfecto.
I could not finish all the courses but lucky my partner eats a lot and ate both plates.
Favourites of the night was the snapper and the gnocchi. I can’t wait to go back for more gnocchi it was delicious.

Very good Italian dishes! Finally tried this place after drooling over their Instagram account for months! Loved the zucchini flowers, the pork lasagne and the pumpkin tortellini. My pans cotta dessert was my least favourite dish probably because it didn’t match my expectations. I wanted a whole wobbly one on my plate! The small blobs of it I did enjoy though. Staff were excellent as was the wine list!
Held a special event here, and can confidently say everybody enjoyed it! Staff were all very helpful with constant good service and on the spot suggestions as to what to order. Food was also very high quality, to the point where everybody overindulged. We'll definitely be looking to come here again soon!
I have been here twice in 2 months and the food here is excellent overall....high end italian....ravioli gnocchi and lasagne are to die for!
Why we wont be coming back is both times we had this waitress who made you feel very uncomfortable.Not helpful, almost like she looks down her nose at you....Service good but she should leave the attitude at tbe door....even my husband didnt want to stay for dessert because of her. I thought the first time she was having a bad night but to cop it the second time forget it...Cafe Distasio is far better with attitude. Shame as the food is so good but living in Melbourne we are spoilt for choice.

Holy Moly, I knew as soon as I was greeted by the AMAZING bartender and front of house staff that we were in for a real treat. My partner and I had a pre drink out the front whilst waiting to be joined by Tm.E, Barerabbit and partners. Service from front of house was fantastic - THANK YOU!
Once all parties arrived we sat at the back dining area, now we were served by the waiters who were also fantastic and they did their best to accomodate our needs given how run of their feet they were.
Mamma Mia.. the food! The food just kept on coming and we just kept on eating lol
Pure genius, who would of thought - yum cha Italian!! What a perfect way to sample such goodness, honestly I am surprised this little chestnut hasn't made it's way into more Italian restaurants.
I preferred some dishes over others, the clear winners for me was the kingfish crudo, pork cheek lasagne, char grilled quail, ricotta ravioli with rabbit ragu and the lemon tart. I highly recommend a visit here but make sure you book so you don't miss out.

When Timinmelbourne suggested Italian Yum Cha, I had an inkling that we were going to be rolling out of the door at the end of the meal, and I was not wrong. The food just did not stop coming, thanks in part to Tim who ordered two each of everything under the "Caldo" section. Not that I'm complaining because my partner and I had a most fantastic meal with Tim and his partner, and Simmyeats.Melb and her partner.
So much food to the point that my tummy couldn't even keep up. Some were good, some were great, but some were seriously outstanding such as the suckling pig croquette, porcini suppli with truffle mayo, smoked duck breast bruschetta, pork cheek lasagna and the fried pepper calamari. What a wonderful journey of flavours and textures.
I must also mention the dessert. The lemon tart and the bombolini with passion fruit curd were out of this world.
Service was as expected of a hatted restaurant; attentive and charming, yet without the stiffness you would sometimes associate with fine-dining.
I cant believe I haven't reviewed this place sooner! I have been coming here for so many years now its not even funny, I've not once gone home anything but happy. If just for a drink its a great vibe, bar food is exactly what you would expect, restaurant food is to die for. Sunday afternoons with the kids out the back in perfect too. A favourite!
I often drive pass this hotel but it never got my attention because I think the building looks a bit old fashioned, however the inside restaurant atmosphere is very classy which impressed me . Now comes to the food , my friend ordered truffle risotto & he thinks the rice taste a bit hard , but I personally like it because this is risotto suppose to taste like .The service also very good & efficient.highly recommended.

I've had this on my list to try for a long time. Just never got round to it. Finally, on a Friday night, I booked via online.
When you go through the main doors, you need to then turn right to the restaurant doors. We had gone straight and ended up what looked like a pub.... which it was, a pretty dead pub too. In my mind, I figured, since no one was greeting us, we should just do a runner. They looked like they were closing soon anyway. As we went back towards the main door, I saw a side door, with "The Grand" sign and opened it --- it was a totally different world. It was buzzing with people. Some were still just starting on their bread. I'm thinking, this is gonna be great. Late eaters here.
We were first placed on a table in the middle of the restaurant and then they suggested to move us to the corner table. The restaurant is a small area with lots of tables, so it can get quite noisy. If you want a bit of privacy, I would suggest requesting for a corner table at booking time.
First up, we were given the wine list and notified on the entree specials. Both specials sounded great. So, even before the food menu was handed to us, we had already ordered the specials.
We had a lovely wait staff who spoke with hubby on the wines. They don't have moscato, but had suggested a sweet wine for me. Unfortunately, too sweet for me, so I just decided to stick to my water.
Somewhere along the line, our wait staff told us about the main special which was a duck. Sold to hubby straight away. He hasn't even looked at the menu. I even told our wait staff he must be a goods sales man cos hubby hardly eats duck.
As for me, I actually hadn't moved much from reading the entree. I loved each one. So, I decided to order two entrees as my main.
All the dishes were wonderful. Fresh, full of flavour, good size. We had a beautiful three hour journey there. It was almost mid night before we left, but not once did I feel like we needed to go. They didn't even start packing up yet (or they did it very discretely that I never felt it was end of service).
I've gotten to know they make their pastas there, so really keen to be back soon.
The Grand Richmond is definitely an innovative eatery, serving up delicious Italian cuisine in a modern and engaging fashion. One weekend a month, this one chef hat kitchen serves up Italian specialities in a traditional yumcha style. As you are seated, you get handed your yumcha order sheet. Order as much or as little as you want because as the sheet gets taken away, they give you a fresh one to continue the feast. Its much more fun to order little bits at a time so you can adjust to your appetite.
Was such an exciting place to eat! The food was simply amazing, the staff were amazing, and I even had my first Vodka Martini here !!!
Would definitely recommend the risotto - with xtra cheese if you love cheese like me!
Great place inside but doesnt look that outside. Building is old and pub types but inside dining room is good. Food options are quite nice. The only thing is they don't mention on menu that degustation needs 2.. only when you order 1..you are said you cant have that as its for 2 only. Food serving is nice. Bit pricey for its food definitely.
I had the 6 course degustation for a birthday. The atmosphere was warm and classy. We were greeted warmly by staff who were very nice and attentive throughout the whole night. Each course was a surprise and delicious on their own right. I really liked the first course of the confit duck egg. The flavours married in my mouth and offered the perfect balance. The gnocchi was simplistic, but was soft and flavorful. The mains were quite delectable but I was definitely feeling quite full by then (maybe because I atea fair amount during the day already). Of course I couldn't say no to dessert! The house made lemon tart with mascarpone was refreshing and was a nice end to the evening. One woe I have though, is that the waits between each course felt quiet long. I was definitely satisfied with my meal and will return in the future!
Such a novel idea to have 'Italian Yum Cha'! The decorations were all Chinese and chopsticks accompanied the knives and forks. The food parcels were delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were kind and very helpful. All round a very cool experience!
I invited 12 of my friends to join me for my birthday dinner at The Grand.Hotel. We were given the The Bellagio room and had the 3 COURSE - Antipasti / Secondi / Dolci selection.
We had a wonderful night! The service was impeccable, the food amazing and the ambiance was ten out of ten. The food all comes out as share meals so you get to try everything and they serve good quantities so everyone has enough to eat.
It was so good that the girls are talking about coming back again soon, I would recommend The Grand Hotel for any important occasion.
i've heard good things about the grand and i wasn't disapointed! i came with my husband for a romantic dinner and it was delicious! we had a fantastic waiter who suggested that we try to degustation menu with matching wines. all i can say is 'wow'! the food was fantastic and the wines were sublime. service was attentive but not intrusive. we will definitely be back! A very Grand night indeed!

You wouldn't know it to look at but the Grand Hotel is cooking some amazing things. I have been here for drinks before but earlier this year decided to take up a Entertainment Book Seafood Feast offer that came through to us in an email. It was very reasonably priced for 5 courses and matched wines. I had never been to one of these Entertainment events before and didn't really know what to expect.
We started by waiting downstairs until all our fellow diners had arrived and these proceeded upstairs where we were greeted with canapés and Taittinger champagne. From there there was some level of annoyance when I learned we were dining on three long share tables and not our own table. Making polite small talk with strangers isn't something I enjoy. We sat on quite a lively table with an interesting bunch of people including two Entertainment book representatives and I got over my annoyance fairly quickly. The food started coming out with a clam salad , and this was followed with a delicious tasting saffron prawn risotto. Although tasty this risotto looked a little like not quite cooked scrambled eggs (garnished nicely). Our final savoury meal was Spanish mackerel with zucchini flowers & tomatoes. I expected this fish to be much more oily but was pleasantly surprised how fresh it tasted. I would say the Grand was very generous with the pours and top ups so we were all quite jolly at the end of the evening.
The staff were very attentive and well trained in fine dining service. I would definitely do one of these events at the Grand Hotel again and am now on their events email list. Incidentally these events aren't only open to Entertainment cardholders but are run regularly throughout the year and anyone can came along at slightly higher prices.
One footnote annoyance was there was a slight stuff up with the payment. They accidentally charged my credit card twice so I had to ring up and have this fixed. They were super apologetic and reversed this a few days later.

Ate in the casual dining area, serves are generous and service from staff is great. Chicken Parma is fantastic, with the piece of chicken being unbelievably soft. Italian menu with swordfish pasta and affogatto for dessert were both perfect. Highly recommended. Never been upstairs, but downstairs is well above average and great value.

I had a really enjoyable special birthday celebrations with friends in the beautiful Bellagio room. The atmosphere was wonderful. We were all most impressed with the venue, food and staff. The favourites were the Jerusalem artichokes and the desserts! It was just lovely touch for the staff to add a candle to my dessert!
We would certainly like to return to dine another time.
Booked this place for a group of 8 in March 2017 and met at the bar followed by dinner in the dining room. Love this place. It never disappoints. Service was impeccable, food so delicious, amazing desserts. A fun night. Will definitely go back.

I love that this place looks like a regular pub from the outside - but inside there's a beautiful fine dining room that is elegant and intimate. The waiters are also attentive.
We ordered the six-course degustation - I took the friend for her birthday (because I signed her up as a grand hotel VIP member, she dined for free!!), which was incredible. And a fun experience because each course was a surprise.
Got a selection of different things - fish/meat/pasta and included dessert
Only criticism was that the service was a little slow.
I came here for the duck and Pinot night ($30 for 1/2 duck and a glass of their house Pinot noir) and I wasn't disappointed. I'm not a huge gnocchi fan so I didn't eat my semolina gnocchi (oddly triangle shaped) but my friend did and she found it tasty, but prefers the traditional potato pillows. I also asked the juniper berry sauce on the side as I like to taste my meat on its own merit, and the Grand's twice roasted duck was cooked perfectly! Abide the fact that i think it needs to be season a bit more! Overall a fantastic deal on Wednesday nights!
This place is awesome. Very worthy of their consistent one hat rating and the perfect mix between high end dining fused with comfort food. The quality of the food is only matched by the professionalism and quality of the service. I come here perhaps 3 times a year every year and it has never disappointed. Massive kudos to the kitchen and floor staff for always welcoming me and giving me phenomenal dining experiences every time.
The minute we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome and lots of laughter from the wait staff. We had the antipasto to start which was nothing short of amazing. The charred capsicum paired with the dried wagyu beef was an absolute masterpiece. I had the gnocchi with brown butter and sage as a main. The gnocchi was pillow-y soft and smooth, absolutely delicious. The brown butter gets a bit sweet after a few bits so I would recommend getting it as an entre size! It was a fantastic night and I can't wait to go again!
The service was excellent and the pasta was amazing. I really enjoyed the wild rabbit pappardelle was so well flavoured and the pasta was chewy and perfectly cooked, the olive mixed in the pasta gave the dish a twist and every bite was enjoyable. However, I found the oven roast potatoes a bit over cooked was not crunchy but tough and the barramundi was a bit disappointing as well in term of flavour and portion size. Overall it's a good place for a nice dinner out!
The Melbourne Food and Wine festival is in full swing, with The Grand Richmond hosting Italian Yum Cha. Imagine small plates of delectable Italian dishes served in Yum Cha portions. Promise, there will be no unusual fusion dishes, aka bolognese dumplings. Instead of asian ladies pushing around trolleys, diners will select their desired dishes, on a ‘tick-box’ style menu. 10 courses of small-plates are made-to-order, served with matching cocktails and/or teas. Originally planned for two weekends, by popular demand – the unique experience has been expanded to all weekends for the month of April. It sounds like a crazy idea, but it makes perfect sense. Smaller portions = more food to try. All aboard the Italian Yum Cha train!
One of my favorite places to get some great Italian food. Laid back but feels like a nice restaurant. The pasta is consistently good and lovely with some wine.
Good Italian food with good service in a comfortable setting. Dessert would have to be the highlight and I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to take a photo of the desert because we snorted it 😂
Absolutely divine food. Shared the antipasto to start followed by lamb rump and pork belly. While both dishes were excellent the pork belly was a masterpiece so beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. From the entrée to the dessert my partner and I were blown away with the pure yet intense flavour of every dish that touched down on our table!
Between the Venue Manager Johnny and the knowledgeable waiters and waitresses, we were looked after and felt at home with no request being too large or too hard!
Top quality food, romantic atmosphere, brilliant personnel and a venue that offers something for everyone!

Stunning food in ( yet another) gentrified pub.
A Boys lunch at what, from the outside, looks unremarkable. But inside, on a stinking hot day, is a cool and elegant space. Serving a limited Italian menu. But first, a few cold beers in the front bar. A remnant of the days when it might have been the haunt of factory workers.
Food is top class. A Caprése salad to start. Burata, heirloom tomatoes, zucchini flowers. And a delightful lemony dressing. Worth ordering several times over. Main of tagliatelle with a ragu of veal, pork, lamb and duck. The best pasta dish I've tasted in years. The pasta was silken, perfectly cooked and topped with a generous ragu. Again, worth ordering many times over.
An extensive wine list. Italian, Australian and NZ. The mark up is modest by Melbourne standards. A bottle of Mt Difficulty Pinot at $93 vs Dan Murphy price of $50.
Service is professional and friendly.
Strongly recommended for lunch. And a welcome oasis on a hot day.

Richmond’s long-time favourite Italian, The Grand Hotel, offers a birthday degustation menu, which we came to indulge in today. This isn’t the first time we’ve visited, and seeing as they make some pretty fine Italian food, we thought we’d see what their degustation menu was like.
Never judge the outside before experiencing the inside. It looks like a typical Victorian pub but it isn't. Both the pub area and the dining area are great. The food is great and nice selection of beers and wine. Service is also very friendly while knowledgeable and professional.
When friends from interstate and overseas drop by, a celebratory dinner has to be on the table. Its been awhile since I last had Italian and explored Richmond so why not kill two birds with one stone?;). Service is a little slow as this restaurant was quite busy when we arrived for dinner but when we were served, we did receive topnotch attention. After placing our orders, we slowly picked at the complimentary bread and olives served whilst continuing with our catch up chatter.
We went with a big group for a much overdue catch-up recently. We sat in the pub area and staff were very polite and attentive, accommodating our last minute request for extra seating space despite a full dining room. Meals were nice without being overly pretentious as some pub fare can be. Prices were fair and the food was very tasty. I ordered the fish and chips which was more chips than fish but still very tasty. The fish was very fresh and crispy batter. The chips were good, crunchy and not too salty. This was served with home made tartare sauce and mushy peas. Other dishes ordered included the sausage pizza which was well received by diners at the table, the calamari with squid ink aioli (maybe a salad would have helped with the meal). The schnitzels were also delicious and a very generous portion size. A popular place with my friends, we will be back.
Had a goodbye dinner here yesterday with a friend who was moving. Pasta was great and so was the waiter and staff. I had the rabbit tortellini and my friend had the butter gnocchi, both were delicious. Next time I think I'll try the veal :)
Grand = Grandiose.
The Dear Luncher arranged his 5th Wedding anniversary lunch at The Grand and they did not disappoint. First class service, terrific ambiance and flawless food. Could not fault a thing and we will be returning. The charcuterie/anti-pasto was probably the best I've ever had. The veal main was sublime as well.

Never would I expect such a good Italian fine dining place from the outlook of the premise. Although the table is bit too small for fine dining for two persons, the food is just gorgeous. From entree to wine to mains, all tastes classy Italian dining. I would love to know who the chef is!
The most underrated pub in richmond. I know this pub is on the outskirts of richmond but worth the trip. Sunny courtyard, clean and modern gentrified decor and amazing food both in the regular and gastropub
Very pleasantly suprised by our visit to the Grand. Enjoyed some pretty decent pasta (rabbit tortellini), while my partner had the risotto. Staff were very attentive and made for a very enjoyable evening. Will return.
We had a great experience last night at Grand Hotel. This is our first time and I'm pleased that everyone love it as I organised the event. The cosy atmosphere, delicious food with generous serves and great service

Perfect place for a romantic night out! I'm so impressed that the Grand Hotel has two different types of eateries - a bar and then a fancier restaurant. I've been to the Grand 3 times. Once to their bar, another time for a private function for a Christmas party (to this day remains the best place I've been to for a function) and finally on Monday night I went to their restaurant. I have never been disappointed with the Grand despite eating there in different settings.
For a starter we had the Antipasto platter. It looked so good that I actually forgot to take a photo straight away so this is why I only have a photo of the half eaten platter.... Haha! I really enjoyed the cheese the most, it was definitely a highlight. The selection of meats were well picked out as well.
For mains we had entree sized pasta dishes. Definitely some of the best pasta I've had for a while! I ordered the rabbit tortellini and it was amazing! My boyfriend had the gnocchi and he was quite happy with it.
The cocktails are really nice. If there's a certain cocktail you want to order you can request it and they can probably make it for you!! The cocktails are also quite strong!
Service was really professional.
The Grand Hotel also has a VIP members club. Just joined it and looks like they have some really good deals - such as a free 6 course birthday dinner and discounts on special events.
Here is a good place for date because of the beautiful and characteristic dining environment，delicious and unique Italian cates. However，dishes are little bit salty.
Strong recommend to couples. Very nice environment and service. I like oysters, although it is not cheap. My girlfriend likes the desert below.
Private function for 25 persons. Appears no need to add further good reviews but the team at the Grand do deserve a shout out. Rachel made the whole organisation seamless. Good advice on the menu and drinks. Our one vegetarian friend was well catered for and made to feel very special. Lots of amateur foodies in the group - all impressed with the quality. All night we had very attentive service by Sarah and Kevin. Kevin was always attentive without being too invasive. Lovely food and a great venue would highly recommend it for your next function.
DO: The pasta (any of them). I had the seafood pasta and the rabbit tortellini - both were very good. .
DON'T: Forget about dessert. The lemon tart was spot on and the Italian doughnuts also can't be missed.
TIP: Order entree sizes for everything so you can order more dishes to try.
We organised a surprise birthday and booked out the Bellagio room at the Grand. The event manager Rachel was an absolute pleasure to deal with and coordinated the surprise down to a tee, our host for the night Tove looked after our every need. Food and wine were both outstanding. We will definitely be back for our next event. Thanks!
My family and I decided to hold my mums 60th sit down dinner/ drinks on Saturday night, as we had such a lovely experience with my dad's birthday last year we just had to come back.
I loved dealing with Rachel last year so when I emailed her again regarding mums birthday I knew it was going to be easy as it was.
We had 48 people for a sit down 3-4 course dinner and nothing was out of place.
The food = 5/5 so good that my dad got the chef in to meet everyone as people were raving. ( didn't take photos but the gnocchi is standout the ribeye was delicious and so was pork, the dessert was great as well).
Service = 5/5 Rachel was amazing for organizing and helped coordinate the whole night. The girls on the night were incredible as well, sufficient, friendly and on the ball.
I honestly can't fault anything, and was blown away by the night- we were all receiving messages the next day with the same feedback. If you are planning an event I could not recommend enough! Thank you again.
Came here on a Monday night for their $30 Italian night dinner at the bistro, not the grand dining room. The menu changes every week, with 3 main choices that are very generous in size and very well executed. I ordered the risotto vongole with shaved bottarga and hubby had the sardines. Both very very good. Also with the deal you get a glass of ordinary wine or beer as well as olives and sourdough bread slices. Check the menu and if it tickles your fancy, it is worth checking out. Best of all, you can just walk in, no need to book.
These people really know what they're doing. The setting, atmosphere, service, cutlery, napery, and all the trappings and trimmings are very good or excellent. The service in particular was warm, professional and even memorable -- they're great people here!
And, to top it all off, the food is to die for.
And, to top that off as well, the coffee was really, really good!
The Grand Hotel ticked all of my eating out boxes, and then some. We'll definitely be back.

Was absolutely stuffed and can't complain for the price and quality of food.
The only negative was that all the dishes were quite heavy besides the starters.

My friend and I visited the grand hotel on a Tuesday night and had the Italian degustation. They have a beautiful dining room, with nice music and even once it was full it wasn't too loud. The service was great. The highlights for me were the blue eye cod fillet with silverbeet, mussels and saffron broth. It's was delicious and the broth was amazing. A very nice looking dish. I also loved the lemon tart, the marscapone cream was really good! I didn't particularly like cotechino and ox tongue with lentils, it was such a big meal as well after already having 4 substantial courses. Overall a lovely and quite romantic dinner spot.
Six people...4 had the fish, delicious. 2 had steak. 250 grams???? came sliced with half a big marrow bone on the plate. My husband is still looking for the other 100 grams of steak. It was small and served cold. Went back to the kitchen, but just reheated and not a fresh piece cooked. Have been here many times but it may have been our last time. Waiter started off rude but warmed up after a while. Chocolate desert was delicious but not enough for 6 of us to have a little taste.
One hatted top notch modern Australian/Italian restaurant located at Burnley st Richmond. No fancy deco or surprises, but impeccable service, delicious, honest, generous and beautiful Italian dishes. A "must come" and highly recommended restaurant for Italian food lover. They serve the best quality risotto and pasta. Look at the pics, beautiful crafted 5 course degustation menu, will be back for more. I love their bread w olives & butter as a complimentary starter, yum!

Loved my first time dining at the Grand Hotel. The dining room is elegant and sophisticated and the menu offers a variety of refined Italian style meals. After receiving complimentary bread and olives (always a good start) I ordered the John Dory with muscles, spring vegetables and broth. The dish not only looked beautiful with so many vibrant colours but the flavours were excellent and fish was perfectly cooked. Will be back for sure.
I have visited the Grand many times over the years generally dining in the sunny courtyard with friends and have always found it to be above standard. We recently held our engagement party in the courtyard and the staff were FANTASTIC. The whole planning process was a breeze and the staff on the day made all the guests feel totally comfortable, drinks were kept topped up and they monitored the food to precision with no-one going hungry or no food to waste. Having come from an events background I understand the industry very well and the team at the Grand covered all bases, were flexible and tailored to our needs. Value for money is excellent and service impeccable - would HIGHLY recommend.
Very tasty steak and a great wine list. Yes, it's a little pricey but that's expected in Richmond. Nice staff and a busy atmosphere when we were there.
Went to the restaurant of the Grand and was blown away. The wait staff were friendly and knowledgable but the food was what makes this place. Amazing Italian food that leaves you wanting more. The serves are extremely substantial and absolutely delicious. High fives to Massimo and the rest of his team.
