The Bridge Hotel is by far my favourite pub in Melbourne. Since it's re opening and re launch more than a few years back now, it has set the bench mark for a perfect night out in Melbourne any night of the week.
You can head down for a delicious mid week dinner with family or friends, a pre match day drink and nibble or a smashing night out of dancing and sipping cocktails.
The staff go above and beyond to look after you and make you feel like The Bridge is your home. From the door staff checking ID's and keeping the peace, to the bar staff mixing your favourite drinks, to the wait staff in the bistro filling your hungry tummies, to pub management who are always professional and friendly in their dealings, The Bridge really is Melbourne's premier destination.
I take all my friends and family alike, of all ages, to The Bridge when they are visiting Melbourne and the reviews are always the same. Everyone loves the place!
Did i mention the laneway? Wow. Enough said.
Thank you Bridge Hotel staff and management for always delivering a quality experience!
Great place both food and staff were awesome. Meet a group of lovely people and we found a great space to chat, eat and drink in. Amazing night.
As soon as we walked in, this place had atmosphere. So many little spaces, and excellent staff. The food was fantastic. We will definitely be back, what a cool, cute pub.
Was at the Bridge for a 40th Birthday. Had a fantastic time, the food was great and a special mention to our waiter Benjamin, such a nice guy and remembering so many meals without writing them down was amazing.
We were in the birdcage area, apart from really loud guys above us shouting and swearing, they left eventually, we had a really great time.
Dropped in for an on spec dinner last Friday on my visit from Sydney. Great ambiance and the food and service was excellent!
We booked a private area for a Hens Party where we had an 8 course banquet. The food was absolutely AMAZING and catered for allergies. Everyone loved it. Thank you!
We just held our reunion in the Loft Bar. The venue was perfect for our group of nearly 50.
The function food package was very reasonable, great choice, catered well for special dietaries and there was plenty of it! Staff were great and really helpful. Well done!!
Fantastic venue - fabulous food, brilliant staff, great vibe The Bridge...
Another great richmond pub which is a staple to locals. Really good steak & parma's. Lots of little areas to sit in. Cool venue.
The bridge Hotel I had never been. Such a nice open bar setting with a great variety of beers on tap. The service was fast and efficient and footy was on.
The Bridge Hotel is a bit of an institution in these parts, and not a bad pub to pop in to for a drink and something to eat. I like that it's divided up into various sections, with several bars, a dining room and a rooftop section. We like to sit in the outdoor corridor when the weather is great, as it has a European feel and you feel like you can see everything. It gets pretty crowded at night and on weekends, but it's pretty good for a mid week lunch too.
The staff are great, the bars are well stocked, and they make a great cocktail. They often have lovely cocktail promotions which also help to draw the crowds in. We haven't been for dinner for a while, but had some lovely grazing plates and a few drinks on this occasion. The perfect snacky type food for a lazy afternoon. Overall, we had a lovely time on our latest visit.
Went there for Friday lunch with colleagues. Great atmosphere, nice selection of drinks and very nice pork belly. It didn’t look large but oh man after finishing it, you realise that it was a massive rich belly. Will visit again .
Today we were invited into The Bridge Hotel to try the food and sample the cocktails that form part of their Illuminate Cocktail menu... think pinks and red and plenty of visualisations with Chambord being a feature ingredient.
We started off our Cocktails pornstar martini, served with a shot of sparking wine. You can sip at both of these or add the sparkling wine to the martini and drink as one drink, I added the combination of flavours was my preference!
Next up we had Princess sour. Imagine a French Martini with lemon rather than pineapple, not too sour, chambord balances this out making it really easy to drink.
Raspberry three ways was the tall glass cocktail and with lily water sweet like an adult raspberry soda!
Seeing as it was $18 Steak & $16 Parma night (every Tuesday and Wednesday) it would have been rude not to partake.
We ordered the steak (sirloin) medium rare with mushroom sauce and the Parma minus the ham and cheese and tomato sauce! Otherwise known as a schnitzel (and it was even served it with some gravy). The schnitzel was delicious, nice and thick, crispy on the outside and plenty of meat on the inside and a generous serving.
For dessert we ordered the warm chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and vanilla bean ice-cream, this was a good brownie, rich slightly gooey but great crust paired perfectly with the chocolate sauce and vanilla ice-cream.
Thanks so much for having us in.
This is a super interesting pub. A cobblestone path runs down the middle acting as a natural separation between the restaurant and bar. It's very cool and unique. The food is very good. I've had the beetroot and goats cheese salad and the wagyu beef burger. Both very tasty. Good service. Very casual but helpful. There are different seating areas. Groovy curved booths and normal tables. Also some funky decorations. See photos for more insight into the different areas. My only objection is how they handle their ban on straws. I understand it's for the environment but there are other options. Paper straws are awful but at least to give the option would be good. Or offer metal straws. Or even a swizzle stick. For mixed drinks I don't like to stir my drink with my finger. Better to have a plan B if you ban straws. Other than that it's a good place for a meal. Might not go for a big night drinking though unless I plan to stick with wine.
Fantastic space for a quick meal by the fireplace or bring a group and enjoy the massive round tables and laneway seating. The set up in Bridge Hotel is fantastic and very unique. The service is excellent and food is perfect! Both my visits were perfect!
This is one of the local pubs to my home but I’d never been here before. So glad I finally made it here, the service was really good, the food was a good pub meal and good portions, will definitely return.
All of my visits to The Bridge Hotel have been a positive experience.
One of my favourite snacks I've had there is the polenta chips with ricotta (unfortunately they are no longer on the menu). They make a lovely espresso martini too.
On my most recent visit I had the Veal Osso Bucco Ragout - the serving size was generous, it was very flavorsome and there was lots of veal.
My Mum had the Pumpkin & Almond Agnolotti - she said it was very nice, however the serving size was quite small for a main and should have 6 pieces of agnolotti instead of 3.
My Dad was pleased with his steak, chips & salad - great value for money as we went on $18 steak night.
Staff were very attentive and friendly.
Would highly recommend anyone to check out The Bridge - whether you're after a couple of casual drinks or a meal with friends.
Bultarra (saltbush) lamb is outstanding and paired with a superb peperonata. Thankfully the capsicums were not overcooked and still held their form but burst with flavour and worked perfectly with the fried capers. Ever so slightly vinegary for my taste and needs some textured carbs on the side. Simple bowl of fries does the trick.
Great atmosphere, though take care not to squeeze many people into the round booths. Gets a bit uncomfortable and you'll end up playing unintentional footsies. Pricing fair, but not a 'value' choice.
Interior is fantastic and food and drinks were great! Great place for after work drinks. Only downside was we never got to use their dance floor!
You honestly wouldn't think you could find an amazing space like this on the back end of Bridge road. This hotel has a laneway running right through it. It's all very "Melbourne". While the menu is not exhaustive, don't let that fool you into thinking the food will not be good enough!
Had some very tasty small dishes and the staff were fantastic at answering our many questions (as we are indecisive) and recommending us dishes. Not the cheapest on the block but no way the most expensive. Will be back to soak up more of this wonderful establishment - the decor will amaze you.
Excellent service, quality pub grub and good selection of drinks.
Have the traditional options (steaks, parmas etc) as well as some fancier dishes...
I got the Lamb shoulder... obviously.. which came with roast fennel and ricotta; while Codalicious got the mushroom and truffle pasta. We shared a side of broccolini (clearly a top 5 vegetable) as we are health nuts!
Lamb was excellent. Only negative was the pasta dish wasn't piping hot when it arrived, so by the time the notoriously slow eating Codalicious was nearly done, it had got cold. If the plate was heated, wouldn't have been a problem. So nothing to mark a place down on.

Great and prompt service .
The warm tart of wild mushroom was a bit salty .
Husk baked calamari was good sweet corn a bit burned .
Main we ordered the roasted Flinders island lamb shoulder which was amazing as well as the 48 he beef short ribs which was above it class . For desert the warm apple strudel was very well made , crispy and every tasty to top it off .
The theme and environment is simply classic with a touch of pub class.
Excellent selection of beers and wine .
DO: The pasta, beef rib, chicken wings, brocollini, mozzarella, croquettes and chips.
DON'T: Forget about dessert, the sticky date pudding was delish.
TIP: Sit in front of the fireplace. The staff were real friendly and incredibly accommodating to the kids.
Slow cooked lamb is delicious, so we ordered a second lamb, just want more of it. Why do I need to write 140 characters for a review? It is not English test website, isn't it?
Trying all the parmas in the local area - so far this is the best Parma we've come across in Richmond. Would definitely recommend and the steak is great too. Perfect size, good quality and sides were spot on too.

Came to this place with colleagues for lunch. We ordered the set menu at $45 per person. This included three shared entrees, being calamari, an Asian salad with pork belly and croquettes, as well as a main. The entrees were all very well executed, and particularly nice were the croquettes which were crunchy and came with both a mayonnaise based sauce as well as a creamy pesto. The main, which in my case was the lamb shoulder, was tasty but could have done with a little more slow cooking for additional tenderness. Nonetheless, the experience here was quite enjoyable, and fairly good value for money, given the quality of the food, the hip surroundings reminiscent of a trendy Melbourne CBD laneway and the good service.
The Bridge is a great place for a catch up with the lads over a few beers. Great fitout and lots little nooks and crannies to chill out. The food is very good for pub fare. Yes, it's a little pricey, but it's becoming the norm these days in the 'gastropub' for a $20-25 main such as a parma or a burger, you just hope the quality matches the pricepoint. At The Bridge, it certainly does. The fish n chips is usually my standard washed down with a steam ale, but yesterday I went to the old faithful, the Parma. It didn't disappoint. Great piece of meat, good sauce and love the chips. Will keep crossing the river and pretend this is my local.
never fails to disappoint.. above average pub food. and they stock pretty good beers from local micro breweries. Tried the pork belly and fush n chups... both were very good. Chips served on the side were veeeery addictive!! crisp !! the sour salad served with the pork belly was a good touch otherwise got think could've finished.... well okok I would have devoured it regardless... :)
Don't be fooled by the facade, inside it is a whole different world, funky, eccentric, vibrant...food was great too. The whole compound is divided into several sections, each of which has different style and decoration. We managed to find a table without too much waiting and the food was good as far as pub food was concerned. We were going to check out other places in Richmond but ended up spending the whole night here before heading back to the hotel across the street. See you next time when we are in Richmond.
This was one of the best chicken burgers that I have had! The bread soft, chicken crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. The chips were great as well
We went over for the $15 lunch special. The staff were extremely friendly and were rushing our meals as she knew we were in a rush. I would definitely recommend this place next time I'm back in Melbourne.

Reviews weren't that good so I was skeptical, but my expectations were blown. The pie floater was absolutely delicious - it was a homemade beef and mushroom pie with a crusty pastry, on top of yummy mashed potato. I just couldn't get enough. The chips were perfectly salted and fried and went well with creamy sauce. I've been talking nonstop about the pie floaters since. The chicken burger my boyfriend had was average, I would recommend the pie floater only and will definitely be back!
6 May 2016
My second time at Bridge hotel, this time I brought a group of friends and I was looking forward to having another pie floater. Unfortunately the pie was nowhere near as good as last time - they ran out of the chicken and veg filling and gave us the beef and red wine. The pie was way too dry - the filling had no sauce whatsoever, the pastry itself wasn't as crispy and thick as last time, and portions seemed to have shrunk while prices remained just as high. Very few of us left feeling full, although most people felt satisfied with the taste of their food (except for the pie people). On a positive note, service was great, the waitresses were friendly, attentive and absolutely lovely. Even the bouncers seemed polite. Unfortunately for me the food was a disappointment, and I've reduced my rating from 4.5 to 3.5. I wouldn't recommend the pie floater anymore or feel it's worth paying $26 for, when there are better tasting pies for $6 in bakeries.
Very cool atmosphere! A good mix between a pub, and a place to go to for live music, dancing, drinks etc. The food was average. I had a steak sandwich (picture below). It was very nice, but $22 and not a huge portion. We also tried some eggplant chips which were delicious (bit expensive), and some eggplant dip and bread which was okay. I've come here before and had the Chicken Parmigiana which was also fairly average. I think if they had bigger portion sizes, it'd go a long way to making this a fantastic place to eat.
This is a public service annoucement. There is a Saturday afternoon meat raffle. Enter it. You may just win it. My friend and I did. And it was delicious.
Good overall atmosphere for drinking and a very cool fit-out.The fried chicken was average but the sauce was good, the parma was good but again nothing special.
Great decor and atmosphere, however the crowd on weekend nights leaves a lot to be desired and the people on the door are even worse. I haven't eaten here and so can't comment on that. It would be much nicer to go to if the demographic was different. I know this is not the owner's fault however it still ruins the experience so should be mentioned. If you are 18-21 and love pretentious, pushy people of that age group who will do anything to get in front of you at the bar, then go for it. If not, avoid.
...These days the place looks fantastic, I love the outdoor laneway entrance as you walk in, and all the little nooks and private areas – it’s a great place to catch up with friends. Wednesday nights are $14 parma and steak nights. Unfortunaltely they had a burger on the menu so I had no choice but to give it a go. Katie opted for the steak, although I h
There is a wow factor the first time you come across the fitout at The Bridge Hotel. Architecturally one of the coolest pubs you can imagine, though impossible to find your friends in one of the several nooks and crannies! It’s now a few years old and is established and busy, but not quite as crazy as the months after opening. The owners did the right thing. You need to have a point of difference and excitement on this part of Bridge Road that is not geographically endowed.
...it is a more than serviceable side-kick to what is a stellar venue. It is certainly the type of place where an afternoon burger could easily become beers into the late evening. A great venue for a beer and a solid burger.
Always good to see an old favourite back open and looking better than ever! The Bridge is back and it is Beaut! We dropped by for lunch and were really impressed with the fit out, the central 'laneway' is really cool and the restaurant off to the right is several segments each with their own personalities. The menu is a good mix of sharing plates, salads, bar meals and mains. Choose from calamari, tuna salad, eggplant parmagiana or porterhouse. I was all set for the parmagiana when we were told the chicken parmi and the porterhouse were on special for lunch at $13! Show me the meat!! The steak was cooked perfectly ......... read more at my blog
Great place! Awesome parma and steak night Tuesdays! $14 great value
Bouncers are flirters, bar service was good, food service was average I got given my food without cutlery and the waitress was unfriendly . Parma was ok and are we in the shire? Looks like a scene out of lotr with a random bathtub.
Was on TimeOut's list of best 50 bars in Melbourne so we checked it out. Clearly a favourite watering hole on Friday nights after work. Go there early if you don't want to wrestle with a fellow customer for a seat. Or make a reservation esp if you want dinner. Interesting atmosphere. Like the different sections/bars within a bar. Since the middle is open to the elements not sure what happens in the rain. But it provides for balcony seating which is cool. There seems to be no place for smokers so they opt to smoke under the no smoking signs. There are a good amount of draft beers. They have a drink called the Jar which is a ?rum and ginger beer concoction, with mint, limes and comes in a canning jar. It is only $10 and very refreshing. You can't get every drink in every section so if you want a Jar, you must be downstairs. They had a guitarist who was good and not too loud. The chips were fresh and hot and crisp. The aioli was boring but it usually is (not so at Black Pearl). Seems like a good Bridge rd choice.
Solid and dependable. Surprised at the harsh score the Bridge Hotel has on here.
Solid, dependable, amazing value and good pub food. If you fancy a parma or a burger and a pint, you're not going to go wrong here.
Enjoyable, tasty with good service. Had a long lunch with a large group (15) here last weekend. The menu was fantastic and catered for any dietary requirement without much need to alteration. The cocktails were awesome (if a little on the weak side) and the sweet potato wedges - HELLOO! The wine list was also great.
Special mention must go to the staff - they were fantastic, knew what they were talking about and attentive without being in the way. A really enjoyable afternoon.
I have had some very very poor dining experiences here but was going there again booked in by friends so didn't have a choice but was thankfully surprised. The food is much better now and up to an acceptable level. Calamari entree was nice even though a little too much garlic and all other meals looked ok. Not sure whether its a new chef but good to see the standard has been lifted
Food still good. I decided to try again, even though the last few times have been disappointing re service the food has been good and the Steak in particular cooked perfectly Med Rare, again the food was great and our guests really enjoyed their Lamb.
Sadly though they were so under staffed, we went searching in the bar and the restaurant for someone to show us to our table and finally found someone in the kitchen.
The poor waitress did her best to look after the whole restaurant on her own for the first hour due to a function upstairs. despite the bad wrap the staff have had on previous posts, I found them to be very friendly once we had their attention.
I wonder when the owners of a hotel/restaurant will get the message that in cutting costs on staff you lose the business you had tried so hard to build.
As part of my Richmond pub attack, we tried the bridge hotel recently, after the refurb.
It was a mid week mid winter lunch and was quiet, but the service from the male manager was informed, polite and he really made an effort to make one feel informed and welcome.
We ordered the steak, and it was absolutely spot on, thick juicy and cooked to order with lovely sides of chips, nice hot English mustard offered as a bonus and promptly plated with great cold tap beer of Carlton.
We sat on the window, enjoyed great steak, great service and great beer, in Richmond on comfortable tables in a historic yet modern ambiance.
The steak was 30 dollars or there abouts and was worth that. It was a very good steak, not excellent, yet not good. It was a very good meal. Well done to the bridge? Re the other service issues, I did not have the waitress wait on our table so we could not see if there were issues pertaining to rudeness etc but manager served us and he was excellent. But it begs the question, what were the waitresses doing. See other revies from other diners. I may advise more prudent hiring
Excellent old fashioned pub style food. What a great place for an evening meal. The decor was amazing and showed a variety of styles in each room.
The food was very tasty and a larger serve than expected - T-bone steak is highly recommended.
The waitress was prompt, friendly, and cheerful.
A great experience and would certainly recommend.
Give it a chance!. I've read all of the reviews on this place- and must say they contributed heavily to the reason i put off going for so long- but i'd strongly encourage these people to take a second look at The Bridge.
Despite not being overly impressed with the crushing crowd the first time i went (and having to wait in line for what is essentially just a pub), going back for dinner on a second outing changed my opinion dramatically. Once inside I found the atmosphere and the service- particularly of the wait staff- to be outstanding.
We had booked for 3 but brought along an extra person for dinner at the last minute and our designated table was too small. Even though the restaurant was booked out and the rest of the place was jam packed (it was a saturday night) the lovely brunette waitress went out of her way to find us a different space and served us all night (in what we later found out was an area where there wasn't meant to be table service). She was so friendly, professional and welcoming that i find it difficult to believe this place could ever be panned for service. GIVE THIS PLACE A CHANCE!
Amazing!. Love the atmosphere. Love how its a bar/restaurant hybrid. Food was great. Will comeback!
We wanted a relaxed Saturday lunch so decided to stop by the bridge for the first time since its reopening.
We were greeted at the door and promptly sat at a comfortable couch table, although it was busy and we had no booking.
Throughout our lunch we were served by a couple of personable waitresses who weren't shy in having a laugh with our group, which was very refreshing.
As we would expect from a pub, the meals(burger, Parma and our steak) were generous-sized and tasty.
Overall we enjoyed our experience and although the waitresses were busy, service was outstanding, food was great pub-standard and atmosphere was ideal for what we were after on a Saturday afternoon.
We will definitely be back!
Decent pub at last. Re-furb is fantastic and staff really lovely. Would have happily sat here all Friday night had we not had other plans. Not sure that I would wait in line to get in though....get there early (before 5.30) if you want a seat and to get straight in. Did not try the food but looked good as far as pub food goes. Dodgy pub reveler lifted 200 bucks out of friends purse so watch your belongings!!!!
Its just fun!. Hands down the most fun, funky original. laid back pub ive ever seen. i know hundreds of people who love it . and about 17 who don't - and they're all on urbanspon. but everyones entitled to an opinion right. i reckon if you want a reataurant, go to a restaurant. and then complain when they don't give you restaurant food or service. if you want a pub, this one is as much fun as you can have standing up. or sitting down. or riding a giant plastic bull. see - what isn't fun about a giant plastic bull in a pub?
Intriguing fit out adds to ambience but average pub food. The interier design of this place is impressive and unique to Melbourne pubs. Be warned you may have to que to get inside. The glass I received my alcohol was dirty. I had the steak sandwich which in terms of taste and presentation was typical to pubs elsewhere.
New chef apparently.. And wow. My gf had their top steak and without a shadow of a doubt the nicest pin steak I've ever tasted. I had the veal special and it came deep fried which wasn't in the description, but it was really tender and tasty. 6 other people at our table raved about their meals. Parma and pork belly were another 2 standouts.
Nice eats. Jerk chicken wings, duck filo cigars and pork belly with apple and a lovely sweet pickle.
Filo's were awesome!
Nice with a local beer - I tried a cider which was great with the pork.
Great Chicken Burger. I haven't been here in ages, but when I used to go on Tuesday night trivia, they made the best chicken burger. If it's still on the menu, it's highly recommended. Otherwise, it's a nice, friendly pub.
I Live around the corner from this place, just changed hands and is HEAPS better now. Bit of a strange renovation but the foods pretty good and pretty cheap
Had a family outing here before an event in the city and what a great place to be. Staff are friendly - nothing is too much work - food is yummy (we had steak with peppercorn sauce, chips and salad as well as the chocolate brownie). Atmosphere is trendy, spacious and modern. To drink, we had beers, alcoholic ginger beer and a white wine - all delicious and mostly local. Busy place with functions happening upstairs too.
Thankyou so much for the great experience Bridge, we will be back.
We were pleasantly surprised. Ended up here for a quick meal after a gig and the food was really really nice. We got an assortment of entrees and hubby got the vegan parma which was very tasty. Calamari was super soft and the Olives and pita entree was just yum! . Will be back!!
Vibe and atmosphere is great. Good place to have a few drinks with mates.. my only thing is food isn't the best for what you pay. But it doesn't ruin the experience as it is a classic pub menu but with a great atmosphere
Need more of non alcoholic options, finger food was nice.
Not usually a fan of pumpkin but pumpkin croquettes were actually amazing.
Service was super quick. Will be back.
Bridge hotel is a great little spot for a feed and some drinks with friends it has a cool european vibe and has two levels with toilets on both levels. The food was great !! And plenty selection of beverages , probably don't want to spend your whole night here but good place to start off the night in Melbourne!
Greatest pub! I’ve been coming for years for all sorts of things…. Grabbing a feed, boozy nights dancing, a quick drink after work when I lived a 5 minute walk away. I recently had my engagement party in the private rooms upstairs and it was brilliant, all my guests loved the space, the drinks are good, food platters were good, staff were really attentive. Shout outs to Zac and Jac, thanks again for taking such good care of us and letting us collect our stuff the next day!
I really enjoy the Bridge - the vibe is immaculate. If you're looking for after work drinks on a Friday, this is the place to go. Take advantage of Happy Hour!
Just note - it is set up to look like an indoor street, both sides are the same place.
