The corn fritters were something else! Long black on point. And a beautiful space. I like it a lot.
The coffee was on point and the corn fritters were phenomenal
Fabulous girl power cafe. Great coffee and service. Love there commitment to sustainability. BYO your own coffee cup and get a 30c discount on your coffee as well!
Winkel did not disappoint ! Corn fritters and chilli scrambled eggs were delicious. Great coffee and great service!
The best scrambled eggs I've ever hadand fantastic friendly service!
Amazing food. Great coffee. And just around the corner which is perfect (but some cushions on the wire chairs wouldn't go astray)
My new local. Love this new addition to the Richmond cafe-scene. It's unpretentious, with great coffee, and the corn fritters are ridick.
The corn fritters are perfect! Great cafe with amazing staff. Loved it!
We really enjoyed our lunches today - it was busy but quick. The felafel and haloumi salad was excellent- really fresh and tasty, with lots of little flavour spikes. Halfway through I swapped with my companion and also really enjoyed the smashed avocado with Meredith and an egg - very moist and again so tasty. We’ll be back!
Great coffee and food, good vibe and friendly staff!
Just had my first Winkel coffee! Bloody perfect! Will be back!
Great food and coffee! Excellent service!
Soy cap 💯 % - great coffee beans - looking forward to my new local!
I haven’t been here for a long time and it looks like there is new owners snow.
The service was really friendly and welcoming. I ordered a strong skinny latte and a chocolate chip muffin.
The coffee was excellent, it was really well made and it had a lot of milk froth which was nice. The coffee had good flavour and I really enjoyed it overall.
The chocolate chip muffin was brought unintentionally as it was a deal w the coffee lol. But it was very nice too.
Overall I really enjoyed this cafe.
August 2018
I had brunch at this new cafe today. The service was nice and friendly from the waitress.
For brunch I ordered the corn fritters. I was expecting flat corn fritters so I was a bit surprised when my food hit the table and they fritters were deep fried balls.
The flavour of the corn fritters was good, w some nice spice but they were too heavy and oily in texture and taste for me.
The rest of the dish was alright though.
After having my morning coffee already I didn’t order one w brunch but I saw someone being served a coffee and it looked good.
Food is great, with a very nice variety of options. Coffee is good, however the takeaway large flat white needs another espresso shot. Essentially coffee-flavoured milk.
Well-lit and comfortable cafe. A nice place for a casual meal or coffee.
I had the pumpkin salad (one of the specials) which was delicious and full of flavour and a variety of vegetables.
The coffee was average.
Amazing Roasted Beef Sandwich. Coffee is quality too. Had the baked eggs before christmas last year and oh my, best baked eggs I've had so far, the beans were so amazing, and Chorizo not too salty. Please bring it back soon during the cooler months! I will be back!
Winkel is located on Church Street in Richmond. I had a bit of time between meetings last week so decided to pop in. The interior is gorgeous, filled with plants & greenery & a very tranquil place.
I ordered an iced latte & headed out to the courtyard out the back. Such a pretty space, very relaxed & light filled. As a gardener I especially appreciated the herb garden along with tomatoes growing as well. Also a basket containing free worm tea, one of the best organic fertilisers for the garden & a fantastic way of recycling coffee grounds as well, an impressive initiative.
My iced latte was divine, plenty of ice & a large serve. I also liked the reusable straw, very fitting to the green feels of this cafe. The staff were lovely & friendly and I absolutely loved the interior & courtyard. A great little cafe, I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area.
On a beautiful and sunny Saturday morning we visited this lovely cafe just a short walk from Bridge road. This is a stunning cafe with a beautiful interior and exterior is worth visiting for not only its lovely environment but the delicious and well thought out menu!
We ordered the blueberry stack pancakes. These were absolutely delicious, full of flavour but not overly sweet (which I like). We also got the salmon bagel which was so good! I love the wasabi cream cheese which added that little punch and difference to this item (you can ask for it without the wasabi cream cheese). And finally just a simple avo on toast, the classics are always a good option.
We highly recommend you find your way into the beautiful suburb of Richmond! It’s super easy to get there by train, tram or car.

This place has been steadily expanding since they opened, and it's not hard to see why. The service is always spot on, the coffee is great, and I finally got around to trying the food on the weekend which was exceptional. The corn fritters are without peer. Crunchy, tasty and utterly perfect. My only gripe was that the chilli scrambled eggs sounded just as fantastic but I guess that just gives me a reason to return, and soon. They also have a gorgeous courtyard, which happily accommodates your fur friend. Eleven stars out of ten.
Winkel is easy to miss as you drive by it but it was such a great find!
There is a courtyard out the back of the cafe that catches the sun and makes it such a beautiful place to have a coffee and catch up.
I had a baked eggs style dish and I often find that the yolks are fully cooked, not here! It was delish!
Coffee is also worth a mention and the service was great!
Good lunchtime stop at this airy and open corner cafe.
Limited menu with a couple of additional daily specials however they are good dishes.
Friendly and accommodating staff.
Beautiful, ambient & airy cafe. Lovely Axil coffee. Always have a soup & a winter curry on (which I have not yet tried, but looked delicious). Yummiest baked eggs ever, & they were happy to make vegetarian version with beautiful thyme mushrooms. Lots of reading - New Yorker, the age.. Great addition to the area :)
Great friendly service. Excellent coffee and food. Small but interesting menu. After a quiet start, it has really picked up - it was humming on a recent (late) Saturday morning.
It’s our second time visiting this place, everything is just so good in this cafe, good food, good cafe, good service, and lovely environment. Only one complaint is the portion of the scrambled eggs was too small. And the corn fitters was the best we have ever had.
This cafe has only recently opened up in Richmond and is a real winner! The owner and staff who work here are all so lovely and accomodating. This cafe has a fabulous outdoor courtyard to enjoy when the weather is nice and a cosy indoor seating area when it is a little colder. We enjoyed the breakfast board for two which had a little bit of everything on it. It was super delicious and the house made relishes were super yummy. We would certainly go back here again :)
Fantastic customer service. Very friendly staff! Nice creamy coffee. Delicious food. Welcoming vibe. Love this place. See you again soon. Thank you for a great experience.
Cute and chic small cafe in Richmond with excellent food and coffee and very friendly service. We took the fritters and the greens which were both delicious.
Winkel offer 5 star food and have such a lovely team of staff.
I have been searching for my regular coffee/brunch spot for 8 months (since moving to the area) and I’m glad to have finally found it.
Really good coffee and delicious food. The corn fritters are the business.
Great, relaxing outdoor area and the service is spot on. Recommend.

Run by wife and husband team, this gorgeous cafe has a super welcoming and relaxing vibe - bursting with natural light and chill-out tunes filling the air, it's like sipping lattes in a yoga retreat (FYI the coffee is on point).
Nikki and her team have really hit the ground running with a tantalising menu of well priced brekkie faves plus some interesting new dishes with the chef incorporating elements from her Indian heritage. There is also a kiddies menu, and the opening of their sunny (puppy friendly) courtyard is just days away.
On our recent visit we sampled the Smashed avo $12 / the corn fritters (speciality of the house, $15) / Stuffed French toast $15
Avocado Smash -yes, $12 bucks!
Nikki is passionate about offering an affordable smashed avo as a menu staple. Sprinkled with seeds and served with a side of fresh lemon; poached eggs and Meredith's goat's cheese can be added for a few extra bucks. The avo serve is very generous and has a gorgeous creamy texture that left us feeling extremely satisfied. This dish also comes with a very pretty side of house made beetroot and aniseed relish which gave the avo a nice kick.
Corn Fritters
The house speciality Corn Fritters - made with spring onion and chilli, served with free range bacon, avo & tomato salsa. These fritters were so good! Perfectly cooked to be crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Perfect balance of robust earthy spice flavours, juicy free range bacon, and a subtle kick from the home made chilli jam. The freshness and quality of the ingredients was obvious. We also added poached eggs to this already generously portioned dish. If you're a fritter lover (or even if you're not) we totally recommend you give this one a go.
Stuffed French Toast
The French toast stuffed with apple and cinnamon and served with fruit and OMG it was glorious!! Beautifully presented with crumble all the way around the crust and piled high with fruit and compote on top - ice cream and maple on the side so you can add to taste.
The crumbled crust of the sweet brioche held it's structure and crunchiness the entire time, despite my drowning it in syrup! The dish was super sweet and had the perfect amount of moisture. The unblemished white of the vanilla ice cream looked perfect against the dark fruit and was so creamy and luxurious. As for the filling.... just, wow! The most gorgeous combination of apple and cinnamon - I swear they've stuffed this toast with magic! Quite possibly the best French Toast I've ever had!
This Richmond gem was a cafe in a previous life, and is about to become a hit with locals and Melbourne foodies alike. Next visit we really need to try the Lazy Susan breakfast platter for two - looks amazing!
Bonus points for offering a coffee discount if you byo cup

The newly open cafe is very lovely, we really like the vibe of this place so cozy and relaxing.
We had th breakfast board that allowed us to try everything on the menu! The board is not like normal board it can spin! And its kinda fun! The tomato paste was really yummy we loved it !
The staff is really friendly and nice
Totally recommend and we are going back to this place!
This place is lovely with such friendly owners. We had an amazing brunch here. We just randomly found it. But what a good luck, ey!! I think it is a family owned business (at least it looks like that). The lady and gentleman working there were so lovely and obviously the food was so delicious as well. I highly recommend them. Please go and support this business.
2 coffees and a bacon and egg roll completely turned my day around from awful to a little bit better. The smiling workers/(I assume) owners, make you feel very welcome and can see they are very appreciative of the business support after the difficult 2 years we have had. I can't reccomend this cafe highly enough, my only regret is that I didn't find it sooner! I would recommend coming here for both a quiet coffee with breakfast and in a group, as whilst the shop is not huge, it is not small by any means and would be able to cater to different people. Just now I also noticed a dog water bowl outside, and a random person walking past allowing their dogs to take a drink while moving on... It's the small things
Edit: it's now day 2 and I have come back. Google won't let me write a second review.... Absolutely perfect!! After writing the review yesterday I realiyI had forgotten my wallet and they were very understanding and patient for me to go and retrieve it, I offered to leave my phone as collateral. I am really overwhelmed by this place, it really is top notch!!
Staff are absolutely lovely, the food here is ALWAYS delicious. And the coffee is always perfect.
I come here with my assistance dog frequently and we are always welcomed.
Great little coffee shop highly recommend!
Nice 😊 and friendly staff but the heater not turn on. It is frozen 🥶 the place.
Situated on Church St in Richmond this is a lovely cafe. The food is excellent.
Great coffee and great prices with wonderfully lovely staff. If you're looking for value they have a large coffee that is ACTUALLY LARGE and won't cost you a small fortune, I've also tried they're chocolate cookies and their brownies which I absolutely enjoyed.
Kind and welcoming. Excellent breakfasts, I recommend trying shokshouka - phenomenal.
