One of the best ramen in the city. Authentic Japanese ramen cooked on order to perfection. The chicken karagae is excellent and the eggplant is delicious. This is a great place if you are looking for a get away to enjoy Japanese meal in a relaxed environment and friendly Japanese chef.

I’ve been meaning to try @future.future , modern Japanese in Richmond. I would definitely describe the venue, music and atmosphere as very cool. The vibe they’ve created is perfect for this trendy part of Richmond. We had a fun selection of tapas to rice bowls. I was super impressed by their eggplant dishes and would have to say they were my favourite. So perfectly soft and flavours were not necessarily traditionally Japanese but 100% delicious! Great place for good vibes with friends! 💖

I was impressed with the vegan options! I tried the TEMPURA ASPARAGUS, AGEDASHU TOFU and EGGPLANT DONBURI. Would highly recommend all dishes - so delicious.

I’m glad they open a decent jap restaurant in this site of Richmond. First of all this place is such a good place to catch up.relax ambient , not too noisy . The food are perfect , highly was the okonomiyaki, and gyoza. Def gonna come back for more and bring different friends here.
Future Future fan right here 🙌. The group went for the Chef's menu ichi ban ($59pp) last night, which had a lovely variety of dishes and the servings were just right. The menu included a fresh cucumber starter, pumpkin agedashi tofu, raw kingfish (pictured), fried eggplant in chilli oil and dashi, fried chicken karaage (best I've had so far & I'm not a fried chicken person), meatball katsu-sando (pictured), salmon donburi and dashi green tea broth, a side of japanese greens, and a light matcha & sake tiramisu to end the night.
A bottle of the Quealy MP Pinot Grigio matched beautifully with the food. The Fuji Sour cocktail was also delicious with it's fuji apple whisky. Definitely check it out, lovely vibes for a catchup or a date. 😉

Visited Future Future for a birthday dinner! Everything was soo delish!
A great place for Sat night meal. We were seated at the bar and I enjoyed watching the chefs worked their magic. Menu is straight forward and delicious. Pumpkin agedashi and chirashi bowl were excellent. The okonomiyaki i thought was average. Drinks list is exciting. There are a numbers of alcoholic beverages from Japan that I never heard before and turned out to be really good.
One of the best restaurants in Melbourne and by far my favourite Japanese. The pumpkin agedashi tofu, karaaage, all of the raw dishes are magnificent. Staff are super friendly and the music is on point.
I love the aesthetics of the restaurant, the mood and music is great, and the staff are friendly. I had been excited to try this place by having seen the website and photos on instagram.The food here was a great experience, some of my favourite dishes were the chicken karaage, the okonomiyaki and the matcha tiramisu which is a must try. A great place to dine for a lover of Japanese food.
The relaxed ambience and music made for a great backdrop for the amazing food. And, the staff were all so very friendly and attentive.
Every dish was beautifully presented and were all delicious. I don’t normally like tofu but the pumpkin agedashi tofu was yum! And the kingfish with pickled daikon and also the fried chicken are definitely not to be missed.
Thanks again for a great night. Can’t wait to come back to try more dishes!
Been there twice, keep getting surprised. Some of the reviews here say it is not the kind of Japanese food they expacted. Well I would say it is not the traditional Japanese food but Western inspired and creative. The fried chicken is a must have. The pumpkin agedashi tofu is really surprising as I'm not a big fan of the traditional agedashi tofu. I guess you can't go wrong with any dish on the menu. This place definitely worth a try.
This place is great! Been twice now. First experience was at the beginning of dinner service, with not that many people around.
The service I got was so welcoming, even being able to casually chat with the head chef and his team. Their Food was Yum! Their Tea was Yum! The wine that the Lady recommended was Yum! Not only was it too match the food, but actually for me to enjoy cause i'm no "Sommelier".
Second time around it was packed! And yes! they where "Under the Pump" but still they still managed to dish out good food and caring service! FYI The fit-outs pretty architecturally snazzy if your into that sorta thing.

Came here on a Saturday night with a girlfriend. Upon walking in we were greeted with such friendly staff, and the ambience of the place was calming. It was busy, but not overcrowded which was nice. We had the prawn buns, the agedashi tofu, the fried chicken and the okonomiyaki. It was all incredible! Can't wait to come back here!
Great ambience, friendly waitress and amazing food! There’s nothing that I can fault about this place. Do order the kingfish, salmon donburi and egg plant. I also enjoyed the tuna and avocado tofu but the portion size was quite small. Will definitely return to try the other dishes!
First timer last night. Absolutely loved every dish. So much love goes into the food and the staff are friendly. Highlights: King Fish sashimi, the pumpkin tofu, Wagyu beef melts in your mouth. Divine experience.
Our favorites were the okonomiyaki, Tiramisu and the Avo tofu. Their cocktails were nice too but I think can be improved. A nice cozy place for Japanese inspired tapas.
I cannot fault the service at Future future. The timing for serving the food was precise. We were never waiting or thinking there was too much food on our table. The food was well balanced, light and tasty. Only let down was the cocktails.We both had cocktails and felt like it lacked the sourness of Yuzu, which was disappointing as it could have been a perfect drink.
Had a great night with friends - dinning at this new fresh restaurant. Great dishes, delicious flavours and amazing variety on the menu, there was not one dish we didn’t love. This place gives you fresh, well paired ingredients and a cool vibe. The cocktails were really nice and the pumpkin tofu, okonomiyaki and mushroom donburi are definite winners! Service was prompt. Will be back for more
Went with a group of friends and it was amazing. The food was so fresh, tasty and beautifully presented and the service was great considering it was packed. The kingfish was awesome as well as the pumpkin agedashi. We also tried the chicken yakitori as well as the mushroom donburi and the wagyu beef. Have been a few times now and very consistent.
Future Future, thank you for a wonderful date night experience! We were early but they sat us down straight away. The bar stools can be a little uncomfortable over an extended period but I did enjoy being able to watch the chefs in action. I could have the kingfish sashimi every day and live quite happily ever after. The pumpkin agedashi tofu reminds me very much of gnocchi and honestly I can’t remember what else we had - but I do remember saying ‘mmm’ and ‘oishii’ to it all. Try the espresso martini and the Kyoto G&T.
As soon as I walked in I was excited about what I was about to experience! There were 5 of us and we ordered the feed me menu which did not disappoint! Each course was better than he last and was enough food for the five of us.
The staff were friendly and knowledgable which was great, they were attentive in the beginning by clearing out plates and topping up our wine glasses but that stopped as they got busier which was a shame as I would’ve liked to give them a 5 star rating, this let them down.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant for client lunches and a night out with friends. Delicious food, great variety, cool ambience and service is on point.

Dined here on Thursday night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The interiors, menu and food were on point and the service was attentive and welcoming.
On arrival we were given an amazing mandarin iced tea as a complimentary drink as well as sweet potato crisps with nori salt which were a yummy addition.
You MUST get the raw wagyu strip loin and the avocado tofu dish- both delicious.
Dishes are small (as mentioned by many) however, Japanese lends itself to lighter dining and it gives you a chance to try a few different foods.

We tried a number of the smaller dishes and a couple of mid sized dishes. The fish dishes were excellent but a pumpkin dish was disappointing
This is a noisy restaurant so get a table in the rear if you want to talk and be heard
The wine list is a bit limited but there is a good range of cocktails on offer
Great new addition to Swan street. Sophisticated and sleek vibe with an excellent menu. Between two we tried the black sesame rice crisps with salmon roe, the wagyu carpaccio, the kingfish sashimi, the agadashi tofu, the Pablo crusted barramundi skewers and the prawn mill buns. Everything was very tasty but standouts were the kingfish and the carpaccio. Also loved the little extras we were provided with. Wine list wasn’t bad. Not amazing though. Could possibly do with a broader selection.
Love this venue. Beautifully curated food and drinks list. Can't go past the wagyu, kingfish and pumpkin agedashi tofu dishes. They've nailed the vibe; super cool, not overdone.

Came with a friend, we both live locally and noticed the place being set up, so thought we'd give it a go. It was their second night too so any mistakes would be forgiven.
The guys did amazing. From the welcome to being seated. An awesome cocktail list and amazing menu. The food was absolutely brilliant. King fish with daikon... Karaage and Wagyu awesome. Tsukumen with raw egg and ponzu. Charred brussel sprouts!
All in all, strongly recommend. 5 stars well deserved. Keep up the good work!

NICE IDEA BUT A LITTLE IS LOST IN THE FUSION
Future Future is a very pleasant restaurant in chic Richmond East. It is just a few minutes away from Richmond East train station and has tram routes in front as well.
It is a slightly curious mix of Japanese and modern fusion which doesn't quite hit the mark for either cuisine.
The restaurant has two floors - a downstairs larger area which doubles as a bar and an upstairs dining room (via a lot of stairs that people with mobility issues wouldn't be able to negotiate) that has good views over the bustling street but feels a bit disconnected and isolated.
Our group of four felt that the wait staff were a bit patchy - our table waiter was chirpy and helpful but the others whop delivered our food were very perfunctory with no explanation of the dish or even eye contact!
The dishes are fairly small volume wise so you will probably need to order more than you think.
Sittings are restricted to 90 mins for a group of two so you need to be fairly organises from arrival.
There is a an omikase menu is you are in doubt about what to order.
Cannot fault the service. My group was running late, which would have been really annoying for them but they were so accommodating. We got the 9 course set menu and they had a vegetarian specific alternative for me. Very tasty food, the best first dining experience post lockdown!
My girlfriends and I enjoyed a selection of fresh cocktails outside. The dishes felt rich and flavourful in different ways. Could taste the high quality ingredients. Coupled with a relaxed vibe. Overall an excellent dining experience.

First time we've been back since feasting on their delicious meals during lockdown. Cannot recommend this place enough! The food is always exceptional, every single bite. We struggle to decide what to get so we get the omakase for a bit of everything. Wine list us great and service super friendly and warm.
Excellent service. The server was very welcoming and easy to interact with. We ordered the 9 course chefs menu. All round excellent food. The star was the sashimi and the rice and salmon broth.
Definitely coming back with a larger group.

Superb chefs course menu on Mothers day, all the dishes were delicous and we were all very full on leaving. Scampi nigiri and Salmon Donburi were the stand outs. Cant wait to try again and have a pretty cool little upstairs/outdoor bar too
Have been here a couple of times. The food is amazing! Service is great. We had the Ichi Ban set menu and were able to swap out the meat dishes with fish / veg no problems. Looking forward to coming back!
