Jai Ho fulfilled my Indian craving on a cold, wet winters night!
There are so many great options on the menu. I decided to keep it simple with butter chicken, basmati rice and garlic naan.
The rice was cooked to perfection. The butter chicken was really good, a nice combination of sweet and smokey flavours, although it wasn’t as rich in flavour as I expected it to be. The garlic naan was great and quite big.
I gave Jai Ho 4 stars instead of 5 because it is a bit pricey. However I will return to try other meals in the future.
Jai Ho Indian Restaurant is no doubt, my go to place when I need to feel like home. I don’t know where do I start from, because there were so many things; that made a little space in my heart forever.
The food was very very delicious and apart from that, the most pleasing thing was the fact that the authenticity of Indian style cooking using the real homemade spices; wasn’t tempered at all.
The chef sure knows the key to customer’s heart, I must say that.
The staff was very helpful, the services were very quick and the ambience made me feel like I was actually in India.
All in all, everything was so good that I can’t describe in words.
Big thumbs up for the food and the services.💫👍
The best butter chicken we have had in Melbourne.
The owners mothers recipe really made us feel like we were having our meal back home.
Amazing service.
Would recommend everyone to come and have food here.
Great food, equally good service..
One point to note that they do not accept zomato gold even though it is mentioned and the zomato service people are not very helpful in resolving it..
The best Indian food I have ever had in Melbourne is from Jai Ho. I am so glad we stumbled upon it on ubereats. Planning to take my parents there - they're from the UK and pine for a good Indian in Australia! Jai Ho is all I need in my life!
We had such a great time here. They have 3-4 banquet menu's, which give you a bit of everything and priced at different options. Otherwise theres also a full menu. I love the banquet idea as we tried foods I wouldn't normally order and we loved it. The chicken tandoori was AMAZING and the meat was fall off the bone tasty. Samosa's very yummy. The butter chicken was so tasty and full of flavour. This truly is one of Melbourne's best indian restaurants. Banquet was also very well priced at between $32-37 per person depending on which one you went with.
Best Indian restaurant in Melbourne .. everything on menu is so traditionally cooked .. we tried buter chicken and lamb rogan josh last night was excellent
Jai Ho, especially Saurabh Abbot did a great job in catering for our daughter's Sangeet function. Saurabh helped us in several aspects of the wedding function personally without expecting anything in return.
More importantly, the food at the Sangeet was fabulous and praised by one and all. The spread ranged from chats, golgappa, South Indian (Dosas especially) to North Indian to their signature dish of Biriyani (both veg and chicken).
Great food and great service!!
Best Indian food we've had in yonks. Service here was friendly, and the garlic naan and eggplant (aloo baigan) was some of the best we've had. Will definitely be returning.
Jai Ho Indian Restaurant hosted a dinner for us and catered a wonderful array of indian dishes. Overall it was a very friendly and professional service. The food was delicious and had attention to detail. Would recommend them any day. 5 Stars
First of all we would like to thank the whole team of Jai Ho Richmond for their professional and disciplined approach for organising my wife’s baby shower. Mr Abbott in particular for his precise sight in everything that was made available.
We were actually confused about the venue and to be honest did only book it by reading the reviews and I must say, we took a wise decision to go with Jai Ho Richmond. From drinks to food and desserts everything was scrumptious and not to mention perfectly prepared. Can’t thank you enough Mr Abbott. Would definitely give 7 stars if there was an option. Once again thank you for the amazing hospitality and memories to cherish forever.
Has a great selection for vegetarian (kinda wish they could do vegan too).
Aloo Bhangare Baigan was amazing, very flavourful and tasty - would def come again for it. Pumpkin Masala was not as great but delish still.
Service was prompt and friendly.
I had the Matar Paneer here recently for the first time trying the dish and it was fantastic, probably not my preference over Palak Paneer but still very tasty. Clean and piping hot. Worth a shot!
Great food and amazing service.
Would love to visit again...
The staff was very friendly. Kadai paneer was amazing.. Dal makhani was nice...
Miss indian taste...this is the best place..
👌my favt dish is garlic naan it gives me the real taste of indian tandoor and fav curry is paneer malai methi ...staff is curtious and very friendly as well.
Great food , friendly staff and nice atmosphere at jai ho Indian restaurant...I went with my friends to have dinner on Saturday night...great welcomed by front staff... well detailed menu explaining everything about the dishes...will certainly be back.
Good food ... lovely ambience... perfect place for fine dine or any celebration...we did our son’s birthday in Jai Ho and it was an awesome experience...
Jai Ho is one of my family’s favourite Indian places to go. They are so authentic with there food and the quality is great. It takes a while for the food to come but that means they are really cooking it properly. Would highly recommend.
Melbourne has quite a broad choice of restaurants when it comes down to Indian cuisine, with many well established restaurants already in place. However, with the shift in trend towards a more South-East Asian influenced fusion and hawker style experience, there has been a decline in new Indian restaurants opening in Melbourne. Jai Ho is one of these aforementioned established names in the Indian dining scene, with three locations, including Hoppers Crossing, Berwick and Richmond.
Delicious food. Onion bhaji reminded me of indian onion rings, as they weren’t in the usual fritter shape. Kashmiri chicken and lamb dopiyaza were both tasty and came with ample amounts of meat. The naan and cheese naan were soft and fluffy. Would come back.
I’ve been going to this restaurant for a few years now and the quality has always been very good. Owners are lovely and friendly and they’ll make sure your experience at their restaurant is one to remember. Definitely will recommend anyone who wants to go and try their food out because I can assure you, you won’t be disappointed. All dishes have a unique flavour which you won’t be able to find elsewhere. The ambience and service are also very good. Overall this is one of my favourite restaurants and will recommend anyone who wants to try.
Ordered food from here. It was probably the best Indian food I’ve had in a long time. I ordered a samosa chat and a butter chicken, both were delicious.
Amazing food with amazing services. I have literally tried all the Indian restaurants of Melbourne and this is the best place where I got full satisfaction on typical Indian dishes. No one will leave without a smile on their face for sure.
Tried this out as we walked in at 9:30 for a late dinner. We ordered the Jai Ho Veg Mix Platter which was good. The quantity was really good for a starter. We also got the Jai Ho Non-Veg Platter which again was really good. The highlight was the tandoori chicken in the nonveg platter. Really really good. Would surely try new dishes on the menu soon.
We have gone here a couple of times now and have always loved the food. The mocktails are very different and worth a try. There are a number of vegetarian options which are good.
Amazing experience along with tasty food and good customer service.I visited last night with my friends and we ordered mix veg platter with mango lassi and two dishes in mains(Punjabi channa ,daal balti ) all of the dishes were fully fresh and good quantity along with amazing flavor and ingredients .overall, i can say that one of the best Indian restaurant in Melbourne(CBD) .highly recommended by me especially mix veg platter and Punjabi channa .
I selected Jai Ho Restaurant for my daughter's first birthday celebration - and I would say my selection is good :-) For a party with around 50 guests the place was spacious and it was close to all public transports. Staff member's suggestions on menu selection was really helpful. I like the ambiance of the restaurant. With feed backs from my guests the food was really good (No starters were left for me and wife ;) ). I was happy that the friendly staff members were taking care of the guests with the choice of their food and beverages (veg & non veg) without making any confusion. Overall I'm really happy with Jai Ho Restaurant and their staff members. I would love to associate with them again in future for any party.
Been there for many times, always mine favourite place to dine with good music and environment also food is something that pulls you back to resturant again and again:)
Best place for family dinning, also it had small bar but good drinks, talking about foods it made me remember my mom, .gonna come there again:)
Had one of the best indian food so far in melbourne. overall exprience with food and staff serivce was really good. Surely going to visit this place again and going to be one of my fav place for indian food cravings.
Was being there for my friends birthday party for the first time and had really great experience in terms of food and service. One of the best indian restaurant in Melbourne. I would definitely recommend this place for sure to any food lover.
They have great vegetarian options which is what my wife and I are. The food tasted good. The ambienc was nice as it was not too crowded during the week night we were there. Reasonable prices.
One of the best Indian restaurants in Melbourne. The food was mouth watering and the staff was very friendly and provided good service.
Their quote 'Curry without Hurry' perfectly suits them.
Thank you Jai Ho for the beautiful dining experience, I have been coming to this restaurant since 5 years and would love to keep coming more and more.

Overall I can say that the food was certainly tasty at Jai Ho but unfortunately the service was a a bit off target. With regard to service our group of 4 found it was quite challenging to get the attention of staff to in the first instance get a menu, secondly order drinks, and then lastly our meals took over an hour to come out post ordering (it was mid-week and not full at all in the restaurant). Despite this, the staff were friendly and in terms of ambience there is a traditional Indian vibe in the decor. In terms of food I recommend ordering the chilli & garlic nann (delicious) and I also enjoyed the mixed meat platter for entrees. You won't be blown away by the food here, the menu comprises of what you'd see at any other Indian restaurant, but prices are reasonable for a Swan St restaurant and you won't be leaving hungry!
So far the best indian food i ever had in melbourne after India. Tried couple of indian restaurant around in Melbourne but no one beats this one. Friendly staff and great service is the addition to your exprience. Always recommending people who are after an authentic indian flavours.
I am a regular here and Jai Ho is one my go go list almost each week. I usually enjoy a medium to hot Punjabi Goat curry with Chilli and garlic naan also enjoy the biryanis here. Everything is made to order. Top class food. Can taste the freshness in their food. Service is really hospitable and with a smile.nice ambience.
Lovely indian. A bit on the more expensive side, with curries at about $19 + $3.50 corkage pp for boy wine. The Lamb Rahara is like nothing I've ever tried - delicious!! The goat curry has lovely flavors, although we asked for it to be spicy, & we found it to be quite mild. The main good thing was, the curries were not oily, which is a pet hate of mine.
This was my first Indian restaurant in Melbourne. We were with my parents so chose to try this out.
We got there early, so things were just being set up by this lovely waitress.
Everyone had a round of mango lassi but i decided to see how LIIT is different here from India. Well it was a tad bit light, lil bit more whisky would make it damn good.
We moved to a few chicken starters and a samosa chat. Delicious! The highlight here was the biryani. I'm not sure but I believe they added saffron. That blew my mind and I loved the biryani. If you are thinking of ordering the biryani, I'd recommend ask them if they add saffron, if they do then nothing like it.
You will have a good time here. Not bad for a first Indian experience in Melbourne.
Ordered the Paneer Butter Masala and garlic naan via uber eats. They give you a generous amount of paneer which tastes amazing but not enough gravy! Garlic Naan was also good. Overall great experience and would definitely try it again.

Jai Ho is a family run restaurant that has been sharing their recipes through their hospitality since 2011. The family has other restaurants under the Jai Ho name, in Hoppers Crossing and Berwick, and they also provide Indian wedding banquets for Peter Rowland’s catering services. Jai Ho aims to serve both traditional Indian dishes as well as some with a modern twist. The restaurant itself, full of Indian artwork and hand-crafted furniture, has a nice ambience to it. Although the curries and stews are tasty, don’t skip the entrees or you’ll be missing out!
We recently received a paper flyer from this restaurant in our mailbox outlining the menu and giving us a Menulog delivery discount code saving us $5 on the cost of the delivered meal. Being hungry and in the mood for Indian, we decided to give this a shot.
There have been many high-standard experiences with Indian delivery restaurants in the Inner South, so our expectations were high.
This is just a huge menu so it was difficult to decide what to order. There is certainly going to be something to your taste here, there is such a broad range of all Indian dishes on the menu!
In then end, my order was:
- Paneer Tikka (4 pcs) with homemade mint and yogurt chutney
- Lamb Vindaloo
- Beef Rogan Josh
- Tadka Dal (vegetarian and I believe a vegan option)
- Pappadams (4 pcs)
- Basmati Rice
- Naan (just a plain one this time, but there is a "bread basket" section on the menu and there are so many varieties of Naan here, like Chilli, Cheese, even a Chicken Tikka Naan!)
This is my classic go to order when I'm in the mood for Indian food and it did not let me down this time. I was impressed by the tenderness of the Lamb curry, the Naan was soft and steamy even upon delivery, the rice was cooked to perfection (it's the little things) and my favourite was the Tadka Dal (always do love a lentil-based dish so I am biased here).
Delivery was prompt and, as I hinted above, everything delivery in a great condition. Unlike some other restaurants, they've put thought into how their food is going to deliver and it certainly is appreciated on my end (and it's a good move seeing as they are dropping delivery flyers around the area! I am sure my neighbourhood won't be let down).
Definitely worth considering this place if you are in the market for delivery. I am sure their $5 off promotion for delivery-eaters will make this a popular choice in the busy period coming up to Christmas.
Consistently good quality food, speedy service. Home delivery tends to take a little longer than one would typically expect, but it's worth the wait.

Let Victory Be Yours. That's what Jai Ho roughly translates to, well, at least that what Google told me! And if you - like us - equate 'victory' with a tummy full of yummy food, then add Jai Ho to your 'to do' list. Click the ↓↓ link below ↓↓ to read about how we ordered too much food....
Had an early dinner.. chilli cheese is a must try.. so is the aloo chat.. we had ordered butter chicken with chilli and garlic naan as main course.. and it didnt disappoint..it was delicious.. best place in melbourne to have authentic indian food.. happy and satisfied.. btw, u ll love the menu.. huge variety of curries and bread..
Great food, great service! A must try when in RICHMOND, SWAN STREET. It's only open for dinner. I've tried their biriyani and it was better than I expected!
For our mains, we were served three curries – a robustly smoky ChickenTikka Masala ($17), a rich Lamb Rahara ($17) boasting fork-tender chunks of spring lamb in a spicy sauce, and a creamy, buttery Tadka Dahl ($13.5). Served with sides of Garlic Naan ($3.5) and fluffy Matar Pulao ($5), this was an expansive feast of colours, textures, and flavours.
Delicious food and great service. We had two vegetarians with us who were thoroughly impressed with the good selection of tasty starters and mains. We also shared and enjoyed the vegetarian meals. The naan breads were the best we have had anywhere. It was the first time we have been here. It certainly won't be the last.
A nice little indian restaurant in Richmond. A very large menu and caters for every dietry need. Most impressive was the banquet menu which included a great variety of foods and unlimited naan bread and rice. The mains were solid but did they were a little on the bland side. Nevertheless with the banquets for $35-39 the value is excellent. I would recommend this restaurant as a great family eat.

Me and a mate went in quite late but the food and service was par excellence! The food arrived quickly and the quality was great! I would happily recommend Jai Ho to anyone!
This is a fantastic Indian restaurant conveniently located near East Richmond station. We dined on a Sunday evening.
Food: Aloo tikka chat entree is tasty, slightly colder than expected, but large enough for 2 to share. Paneer butter masala was highly rated, great spicy flavour, thick consistency and well cooked cheese. Kashmiri beef was soft, fell apart beautifully, with a rich curry sauce. Naan bread and coconut rice were lovely additions and very well priced.
Drink: Its a BYO - score! The cocktails were OK, but perhaps not the standout.
We cant wait to return!
We ordered via Menulog - the food was excellent! Lamb Rogan Josh and Aloo Parantha were delicious.. Tadka Dal was also tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. We'll continue to order from Jai Ho.
This has become our favourite Indian! Highly recommend - the beef rogan josh, kadhai paneer, coconut rice, and naan. Beautiful food, and delivery always comes early or on time!
Order takeaway tonight with Delivery Hero. This got to be the best Indian food around. It is truly amazing. Oh the service is also exceptional! They gave me a call about something that is not on the menu anymore and offered a different item (Mind you, that's like 2 minutes after I submitted and paid for the order), then a call again to let me know that driver reckoned it will take him about 20 min to get here and letting me food is on its way. The person I spoke to on the phone are very friendly and polite. I am sure I will come back again. Thank you Jai Ho for the amazing food.
Good Indian food. Very nice setting and clean. As a trade off it's a little more expensive than your other Indian choice in the area. Prefer to eat in as it's quite nice inside.
Very delicious, we loved the garlic naan in particular. The curries were very nice and service was fast. We will most likely dine there again
Amazing food they have their own recipes and it tastes awesome, I will definitely visit here again cool ambiance and nice staff , the best part is they are open till 11.
Delicious! As I ordered takeaway, I cant talk to the service. However, the food was delicious, and the serving sizes were more than generous.
Absolutely divine. We always go here if we're looking for some indulgent Indian food. The chef's recommended lamb shank and chicken curry are amazing. Never fails to deliver on impressing us. You'll be missing out if you don't come here!
We were looking for an Indian restaurant in Richmond and the Internet has pretty bad reviews with this being the best of the lot. Needless to say we had a great night out, the food was really nice and wait staff were the best and soo accomodating with high chaires and our generally disorganised group arriving at all times and not knowing how many people will turn up in the end. We had the pumpkin masala and paneer saag which were nice. Went nicely with the chicken naan. Popcorn chicken was huge pieces of chicken drumstick!
Perfect for Date Night. Lovely set out Indian Restaurant. Staff were very friendly, attentive but not overbearing, We started with the Aloo Tikka Chat which was to die for. For main we had the Lamb Biryani to share and a kasmiri chicken curry, we chose the family naan to share. This was plenty of food for 2 people and we were suitably stuffed, although not so much as to pass on dessert, I had Gulab Jamon which was hot sweet, sticky and delicious served with icecream, where my partner had the Pistachio Kulfi.
Great service and quality Indian food/perfect for functions. Jai Ho Richmond hosted my fathers 60th Birthday lunch with 27 guests on Saturday. We were lucky enough to have the entire restaurant to ourselves as it was a special function. The staff were fantastic and very attentive. The food was excellent and plenty of it! We started off with a number of different entrees and did a banquet of mains with breads, salad, rice and yoghurt followed by sweets. Jai Ho even catered for those with special dietary requirements. From my initial enquiry until the day of everything ran smoothly and nothing was too much to ask for. This is a great venue for family functions/gatherings/parties or simply for a good meal!
Best yet in Melbourne. My wife and I recently visited Jai Ho with some Indian friends. Jai Ho is their favourite for indian food in Melbourne.
While I have eaten more authentic Indian food elsewhere in Asian countries, particularly India, I would say that it is the best we have yet found in Melbourne. If you live in the inner suburbs, it is worth a visit.
However, I am looking forward to eating at an Indian restaurant in Melbourne that is packed with Indians enjoying their food. Any suggestions please?
Great Indian food friendly staff, will come back again. Best Indian food in Richmond area
First timers tonight and absolutely loved it! This is our definitely our new regular Indian! Butter chicken and Rogan Josh is melt in your mouth and the service is awesome.
Best Indian in Melbourne !! We were back again Sunday night & greeted by the friendly staff as always. Food is divine & never disappoints. Great menu options & affordable wines.
Can't wait to go back.
Good butter chicken. We had take away butter chicken and Nan.when we arrived to pick up order was On time and delicious.
Great place for party. We recently had a party at Jai ho. We had a great experience in customer service and food. The arrangement was perfect in term of sitting. The team was fantastic and very cooperative. The food was yummy. Everyone liked the food. Everyone on the party was very impressed with the quality and quantity of the food. Congratulation to the Jai Ho team.
We got catering for food for a birthday party at home .. The food was really nice .. The delivery was on time and the person who delivered gave clear instructions on how to heat the food and garnishing .. Everyone loved the food !!
Good Service, Good Food. This is our local Indian, and it continues to deliver, I must say. The service is good, and the currys are genuinely consistently good.
Coffee was below par, but I dont expect it to be amazing for a night focused restaurant like this.
Make sure you get the garlic Naan, it was amazing - probably the best I've ever had.
Great service.... Awesome food... Good ambience.... What else one wants from restaurant....
Excellent ambiance and service. Went there for Dinner and a recently a birthday party.
One of the best/classic Indian restaurents in Melbourne.
Great ambiance, good food and great service. will be going there again for sure. :)
Best Indian. It takes a lot to rate an Indian Restaurant number ONE out of the hundred's that exist in Melbourne. After a lot of trials in many indian restaurants, I can say my dining experience at Jai Ho has been the BEST so far. We went to Jai Ho, yet again, for a birthday celebration and we were delighted. Food was fresh, tasty and served in generous quantity. The staff and ambiance were extremely pleasant and welcoming. I am also in love with their cocktails, very reasonable and comes with a serious kick! :) Perfect location for birthdays and functions. Thank you Jai Ho for having us.
Excellent food & Ambience. I traveled to Melbourne from India and was craving for nice Indian food. One of my friends told me about JAI HO Chain, I have to say this is the best Indian Restaurant I have ever visited in Melbourne. Best Food , Best Ambiance, Extremely friendly staff and yet quiet reasonable. Hats off to Jai Ho
Will Be Back Soon to have your wonderful Delicious food Jai Ho
Thanks for your excellent service JAI HO
WOW What an amazing Indian restaurant. This is a true gem. It has a warm and welcoming decor. You can smell the wonderful food and flavours as soon as you walk in. Our waitress was sensational. She was also very warm, welcoming and friendly. She went through the menu and explained the dishes to us. The food was beautiful. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks Emilly for your fantastic customer service! I highly recommend this restaurant.
I feel in love with this restaurant from the moment we opened the door. The warmth of the welcome from Emily complimented the ambiance and decor.
There is a great selection on the menuand Emily was extremely helpful when it came time to planning our choice. We haven't finished our meal . yet and so far it has been delightful. I can't wait for the rest.
Strongly suggest giving this restaurant a go
Ho ho ho. We went to Jai Ho for dinner. Fantastic taste and flavours in the curry - their paneer is amazing!
Very attentive service and decently priced - especially with the Entertainment Book voucher. Will be back!
Very Great Experience! Went.... Very Great Experience!
Went for dinner with my partner for his birthday!! The food was simply amazing. It was real indian taste! Service was also classic. Highly recommended! Will definately go there again.
Great night out - Highly Recommend. Went to Jai Ho tonight for the first time. A place that id always seen but not yet ventured into in my local neighborhood. Ambiance was great for a casual Saturday night meal for two. Our waitress was exceptional having some casual chats about what Indian people eat for breakfast (interesting for me). Food was also delicious (Biryani and Lamb Rogan Josh). Everything was hot, spice level appropriate. Overall a really enjoyable dining experience. Thanks to the team that looked after us tonight. I enjoyed the Indian beer as well!
Good quality Indian food with good flavours and the feeling you are eating something above average. they only had two waitresses who just managed to cope.
Great food, great service and an awesome restaurant...very friendly staff..i rate this restaurant as one of best in melbourne.
Excellent food & service! We have ordered numerous times and its always great. Would highly recommend.
Best Indian restaurant in the town. Love their palak paneer and mixed platter. Very good and friendly staff and obviously food too
Was very satisfied with the food here, and great service helped out as we changed a few menu items. I'd come back. Gulab Jamun was great for dessert.
Very good indian food ..loved fish curry lot
Great service-best food. Yummiest butter chicken and goat in Melbourne. Staff was lovely. Special thanks to Manesha for the excellent service. Will surely return.
Best place to celebrate special occasions. I am truly impressed by the Jai Ho Indian Restaurant Team at Richmond in hosting my son's first birthday party.
Amazing food selection (esp vegetarian),great ambience, lighting, background music, ...list goes on...
Even though we had selected Jai Ho for the birthday party in the very last hour, Sunil & Sourav from the Jai Ho team helped in selecting the food till organising the restaurant for 60 guests was truly amazing.
I would always recommend this restaurant to anyone who not only want to have a sumptuous Indian meal and a great party atmosphere ..We enjoyed every bit of time spent there and thanking the Jai Ho Team for helping in making our son's birthday even more special for us.
Amazing butter chicken and korma! One of the best
Great Food... Yet takes forever!. I love the food here... always delicious, always hot and everything is always cooked so well. The only gripe I have here is the food always takes forever and a day to come out... we usually sit here for 45 minutes before food comes out, which is slow for any restaurant.
We love... the Chicken Tikka Naan, Garlic Naan, Chicken Korma (yet sometimes you get 3 bits of chicken... sometimes 20 bits of chicken so no consistency) the lamb cutlets are divine as are the flavours in the Butter Chicken.
Drinks... well the Mango Lassi we had tasted terrible so not highly recommended... tasted more sour than usual. Lots of Indian beers which are great and soft drinks are well priced. For an entree, 2 breads a few drinks and 2 mains is around $77.00 for us consistently... ok value, great food yet really slow to come out.
Birthday party Review. Recommend this resaurant highly......Jai Ho Indian Restaurant is amazing- their intense and distinct flavour really hits the spot.I organised my son's first birthday party in Jai ho.Food is really awesome with great service.Butter chicken was beautifully cooked and presentation of meals was great..The breads are soft & cooked to perfection.I must say staff is very accomodating, without their co-operation, celebration could not have been a "Big One".
Good food, good service. Came here using a voucher tonight. the restaurant was quite busy, apart from a few larger tables. Beautiful decorations & clean. The offer included any 2 entree, 2 mains, 2 dessert, naan & choice of rice. there was a lot of food, the service was exceptional. the beef eggplant dish was a little tough, but overall the food was food.
I would recommend Jai ho to my friends. The versatile menu being the limelight, is also backed by a very hospitable and amible staff. We choose Non-veg platter as starters and Lachcha parantha and Paneer methi in the mains. The platter was a tantalizing delight in itself ( do ask for the amritsari fish) and did call our (me and my partnrr) big appetite.
Lachcha parantha was crisp and flaky, and beautifully united with the smooth curry. Besides this, it has a grand ambience and beautifully decorated walls.
One must pay a visit.
Indian taste, nice decoration, good price.. Jai Ho Indian Restaurant is one of those such restaurant which offer truly authentic indian food. The decoration and the ambiance is very nice. We enjoyed the sunday night with its hot and sizzling tandoori chicken and Kashmiri beef. It is my feel that prices are very economic and anyone can afford the menu. Just love it!
Nice restaurant. Quite and decent place. Lovely and friendly staff.
From experience, the food is way better when eaten in the restaurant than when delivered. went again tonight and the service and food were great. the tandoori sizzler starter is necessary!
Sure! Why not, it's nearby.... We find outselves heading down here as best option for Indian we have found on Swan St. The BYO is always a good option and the food is pretty darn ok. Best part of the meal is always the staff (who are darling). I see no reason not to 'Like' this place.
Indian food with original indian taste!. I must admit that i am a great indian food lover. Although its been about 5 years that i have been away from India, but though my love and hunger for Indian food has never decreased, thanks to Jai Ho Indian restaurant for making me feel like i am eating food at my home :) Love you guys! Jai Ho!
Good food.. Great food, chicken biriani was very nice when we dined in. Had home delivery on a cold Melbourne night and it was sooo good! Beef Masala, chicken curry, potato naan. Very tasty. Will be back and use again for take away.
Best Indian ever. We tried this place on an Ourdeal deal, $49 for 2 people for sooo much food it was ridiculous.
The most outstanding part of the meal was surprisingly the traditional soups. The tomato soup was so good I'd insult my mother if I really told you what I though of it. The spicy and sour soup was a new experience for my tastebuds and so fresh!
Amazing curries! All of the usual and rice, but all with a little more to them. so brilliantly done.
Naan breads were great.
The desserts were ok but I would skip them next time considering all the other great stuff.
Excellent food and service. Me and my wife had the best time. Food and service both were good. Try their mocktails. It's amazing.
Yummm Can i have some more please.. I am a reqular at jai ho and just love the flavours of their food. I ingredients they use seems to be very fresh & full of taste.. I get soo full but still wana have some more...
Craig
Best Indian in melbourne yet, the waiter we had was very attentive , curries full of flavor, onion bhaji was to die for and it was awesome to see home made samosa instead if the deep fried crap every other resturant has presented me! Good value dinner worth every cent
Definitely a great place for a meal if you are with indecisive company. Swan St has many to offer, from Mexican to Greek, from Union Dinning to Spudbar. And I certainly don't have my inner Bollywood sentiment when it comes to food choices. Mostly to blame the ghastly gravy with lack of fresh ingredients and unattractive presentation compares to other cuisine. But being the picky one for a group Xmas Lunch is sure not the way to go if I ever want to be invited again!
Jai Ho had well accomodated 10 of us without banging our head on a set menu. Who doesn't want choices if there are! With a person intorlerent seafood, another person needs extra hot on everything, mixed Platter did all for us, and it looked mad hot. The tender pieces of chicken tikka were cooked in a lovely mint-based flavour that was enriched by the enticing combination of Indian spices. There were clear favourites emerging on our main, Badami Lamb, with saffron rice and naan…and a Papaadam… I love Papaadam. Home made indian ice cream with pistachio nuts is the one to go if you can't handle the sweetness of mango.
With exquisite and alluring spices, It was a satisfied meal and everyone seemed chilled. It was indeed heavy for a summer meal, but with wine specialist 'sommelier' on hand to make suggestions, it's clear the gurus know they are communing with something special. And who am I kidding, if they are going to have Cider on their menu soon.
Yum. We recently organised an end of year work bash here and we were really impressed! Food was great, service was professional, staff were very accommodating and flexible. It has that little bit extra over most other Indian restaurants in its class. Will definitely head back to taste more from the menu!
Great local Indian. Can get a bit busy on a Saturday so just order some beer a puppadoms and relax
Dear Jessica, First of all I again appologise for the bad experience you experienced that night. I had spoken to you and explained the situation and appologised that night it self. I agree that the time taken for your food to be delivered is un-acceptable by our and customer's standards. I did offer your partner a compensation over the phone. Please do not say that their was no appology when we did accept the delay and apologized. We deliver our food with in time and also we gurantree the quality of our food as it's cooked fresh and delivered ASAP. I hope we are given another opportunity to serve you an we will assure on time delivery with complimentary dessert to you and your family as a gesture of goodwill. Regards Sunil Director/ Manager Jai Ho Indian Restaurant
Delicious Food. I was a bit skeptical after reading some of the negative comments, but I was told by a few friends that the quality of the food has improved since the take over by a new management. I decided to give it a try.
The food was absolutely fantastic. It was authentic indian, I could taste the flavour. Being Indian and a food lover I could say the food tasted exactly like home. I was there on a friday night and was very happy with the service and ambience of the restaurant.
Great taste. I have been to the restaurant so many times with my friends and families, great food, good value, very friendly staffs, strongly recommended.
Best butter chicken I have ever had and one of the best dishes you can get along Swan St. Kitchen should be proud!
The food was good. They had a kids birthday party on when we were there and played happy birthday on repeat the whole time we were there! It was really annoying!
Good Food, Prices and Atmosphere. But why no water on the table?. We ordered the Samosa, Chicken Tandoori and the Beef Korma, all quite tasty. The cheese naan was great also, very different to normal naan, full of cheese and herbs.
The prices were reasonable and the decor and ambience were quite inviting, and bigger than it appears from the outside. Good place for large groups I would think. My only complaint was no water on the table, after I finished my one beer, it would have been nice to get some water. A little bit of proactivity by the staff, as to what the customer might want or need, makes the difference between OK service and great service.
Good curry. Richmond Swan Street has a lot going for it with some good bars, cafes and restaurants but it was missing a good Indian for us locals. No longer. Jai Ho is a genuinely good Indian restaurant with a nice selection of the normal vindaloos, kormas, rogan josh and tandoori but has a few surprises such as chili crab. They serve up the curries in the little metal bowls similar to curry houses in the UK and are BYO. Service is friendly and they show Bollywood music videos on two big screens to get you in the mood.
I don't know why it took me so long to try eating here. It was really good. It's a big restaurant with quite an extensive menu and reasonably good, attentive service (other than when it took them forever to clear away the dishes after walking past us multiple times and never looking at us). The food was delicious and I'd love to try it again. Everything we ate was really good and we were all happy with our meals. We will be back.
Heard a lot about this place and it was good to finally make it for dinner with a group of friends.. lot of options for both vegetarians and non vegetarians with a good mix of different drinks as well.. food was very good and tasty and well sized portions with decent pricing.. spacious place with ample dining capacity.. the vegetarian platter could have been a lot better with the choice of inclusions and wasn't as great as the non vegetarian platter... only area of improvement as such was the wait time to serve the food from the time of ordering, it took very long for our food to arrive and though it was worth the wait the wait time between our starters n main course killed our hunger! A good experience overall ...
Had been to Jai Ho restaurant 2-3 times, food and service was really appreciative.
Then we organised a big party for family and friends and it was also a hit with great food and happy guests. Great job done by the restaurant. Definitely a place to go.
Absolutely loved the food! Was quite surprised
Went here for a birthday dinner last night, absolutely amazing service and the food was to die for! We ordered a variety of different curries and they all were so rich and delicious in flavour, would definitely recommend giving this place a try if you love your curries!
Delicious Indian food! I eat mostly vegetarian and would recommend Malai kofta, eggplant curry and Rumali roti.. generally you have to hike to different for a best particular curry /bread. These guys are great at holding that bit well and I am sure I will be back many times..
The best Indian food ever had in Melbourne and there are different varieties in starters and specially the samosa chat is the best also the fast and good service.
A good choice for an authentic restaurant, I had an enjoyable experience. Only criticism I have is the food took a while to arrive, I had two beers in the time it took to arrive. The food was tasty, the garlic naan was powerful with garlic though. Friendly staff. I recommend dropping in if in the area.
