Will come back for:
+ O’Skool Ramen
Came here before lock down and grabbed a quick lunch and went with their lunch special. The ramen was light, flavourful and delicious. The space was homely, prices very reasonable for what you get and the service was friendly and quick. Couldn’t really ask for much more for a quick, healthy and delicious lunch.
I haven’t been here for a while so my partner and I called in for dinner. The service was friendly and welcoming, in a Japanese way, just lovely.
We ordered a number of dishes from chicken karaage to pork w rice which was AMAZING, to my glutinous thick ramen which was very good to the black garlic ramen that my partner ordered which was AMAZING too.
With a couple of bevvies this was the most delicious meal. Everything was soo tasty, the pork dish is one that I’m going back for soon and the black garlic ramen was the most delicious ramen I’ve ever had!
Enough said. Thai place is definitely worth a visit.
Discovered this ramen shop a while back and have been going back many times since! The broth is perfect- not too oily. It can get a little busy during dinner time but the turn over is pretty quick.
Delicious Ramen, very tasty soup. They have Konjac noodle option, perfect for keto diet or if you are on diet.
The okonomiyaki was ok, better then a lot of places in Melbourne still.
Visiting a friend who swore by this $15 Ramen deal. Tried it out, and I agree! It’s such great value with the addition of a great tasting, big serve of Ramen. Quick and lovely service, easy to pay and a very nicely designed restaurant.
Can't understand why this place wasn't more full on a Saturday night! The menu has just about every Japanese dish you could want. I had the teriyaki salmon. It was very nice but the cut of salmon probably wasn't the best (it was the flatter part rather than a nice juicy middle bit). My partner had the ol' skool ramen and loved it. The Japanese curry and other ramens ordered by the rest of the table also smelt really good! I will be back to try other things if I am ever in the area. Also the $5 pints of Orion are ridiculously good value! The prices overall are so cheap as well.
Came here on a Sunday evening really nice relaxed vibe inside and ramen is very decent for Melbourne. Also $5 dollar 500ml Orion’s beers is a bargain. Staff were also very friendly.
Nice little ramen shop, good atmosphere, authentic tasty ramen and great service. Unfortunately ramen we wanted was sold out but that's definitely a good reason to go back there. Good value for money! :)
My go to place for ramen. I’ve been here so many times and absolutely love it. The broth is made to perfection and the way they present it is absolutely astonishing! I definitely recommend this place to everyone.
I like to come for some good ramen! Great broth coupled with noodles and meat. I just wished the portion was a little bigger… Service is fast and staff are friendly. **NOTE: Eftpos minimum $15.
I honestly don't know why this place only has 3.7 stars as I had a fabulous time here. The staff were lovely, the atmosphere was cute and cozy (albeit the lighting is a bit dark), and the food was phenomenal!
I came with a large group of friends and all of us ordered ramen except one (who got the chicken karaage curry). I ordered the Miso n Possible ramen with tofu, and couldn't have been happier with the choice. The broth was hearty and delightful, the noddles had a good bite to them, and the tofu was out of this world; nicely fried on the outside but so soft and silky on the inside.
Everyone really loved their ramen dishes too. They all said the flavours were delicious and were quite filling. My Japanese friends also said that this was relatively close to what they would get back home.
I have no problems in recommending this place, and would love to return for more ramen and try some sake too.
Love going to this place. Consistently good. I'm vegetarian so can only comment on vegie dishes but have never had a bad meal here, no matter what I order. Must of visited 25 times already.
Friendly staff and tasty ramen. The noodles had good consistency and the chicken and fish broth had good salty flavours. We had the ol skool with duck and the dragon ramen. Both really yum! And the food came out quickly too!
Classic ramen and takoyaki are a MUST! Very polite staff and reasonable price for great Japanese food. Always very busy for a good reason, yum yum yum!
One of absolute favourite ramen spots in melbourne. They don’t have too many ramen options available but the ones they do have are spot on! Can’t wait to go here again.
Legit Ramen. The spicy one is next level good. Been to Japan and this is as good as any I have had. Will be back many times over. $1.80 beers on the 18th of each month also.
I liked mine. The hells oil and pepper gave it some bite but my daughter really didn't like her ol skool ramen. She said it was sweet. The meat was sweet and so was the broth. I tried it. Yeah it was
The gyoza was ok. Yes. Just ok
We decided I'll come back as I was happy with my meal but I'll be back alone. My daughter isn't keen to give it another go even when I suggested she try another ramen dish
Points for: excellent tasty broths, medium thickness noodles
Dine Time: weekday dinner
No 18 is growing to be my favourite ramen-ya in Melbourne.
Their thick chicken & pork broth Ohako is a signature, well worth coming for.
This time I tried the "Devil's Ramen", with charred garlic and a pork/fish/chicken broth. Strangely it comes with nothing else but mussels, which are nicely presented, but once you get over this, there is also a layer of the delicious garlic oil on top. Be warned though because the garlic oil traps the searing heat of the broth underneath! It's a pleasure pain sensation.
The Miso N' Possible also has a nice mellow hit of miso, probably leaning more towards a white miso being used. Still, a tasty broth and goes well with the corn.
I really like the noodles used at No 18 as well, as it has a medium thickness and a good bite/texture/chewiness to it.
Went here because Madaeya was full - and actually love it. Simple - but all the dishes I like to get at a Japanese place are nice and don't make me feel bloated. There's vegetarian ramen, curry, don, and you can get smaller servings of curry which is cool because you can try more different things without over-ordering. Kind of glad it's not busy but I'm surprised at the low rating given how I think the quality of the actual food is pretty right-on.
Its nice how they left a little note on the ubereats bag for me. I never expected it and it was pleasant to see. Kind of says something positive about the service of the place. Also, we had some requests on ubereats and the waitress called to verify our additional requests.
We ordered a japanese tofu and vegetable curry rice. It came relatively quickly. Personally, I felt like the curry was a little too thick for my liking but in terms of taste, it was good. Would come back to try the ramen.
Charming and cosy place to enjoy well cooked tasty ramen. All the dishes were great. Gyoza, potato salad was lovely. The thick broth soup ramen was exceptionally good. Attentive polite waiting staff. Lovely experience
all the starters are so yummy, especially the okonomiyaki and the ramen is good too!! so yummy and authentic, will definitely come back for more!!
Came for lunch with some friends. We ordered the lunch special which came with your choice of ramen and 2 side dishes for $20. My ramen came with 2 sushi hand rolls. Meals came out pretty quickly after ordering, and were very big serving sizes... to big to finish. Ramen was pretty tasty, but the broth was very rich.
was curious why this place has a low rate and we came here when they do 1.8dollar Sapporo on tap day. Surprisingly their food and service were pretty good, doesn't deserve 2.8 rate on Zomato.
i came to here with friends. every 18 of month in here, sapporo beer 1.8doller.
really nice and food quality also good. i like tori curry. defenetly come back here
This place definitely deserves a better rating. Food was excellent. We got the Devil's Amen (black broth from char-grilled garlic) with mussels (IMO amazing - particularly when fresh hot, eat it fast!), and the Duck/Seafood broth (with powerup of duck slices and onsen egg) ramen (forget their name for it).
Both were freaking delicious (indeed - excellent to sample next to each other for the taste contrast) and something a bit special that you'll not find elsewhere.
Ambience was great - convivial, good energy without being harsh or intrusive.
Staff were super friendly, service was on point, would recommend.
After a trip to Japan getting completely addicted to Ichiran Ramen - we have been on the hunt for something even close to how good it was. We found it tonight. The Ohako Ramen is about as close you can get . The spicy edamame are also amazing.
I dug this place. I admit, I'm no Matt Preston when it comes to Ramen. I ordered a hearty broth with duck n noodles, it was huge, the ingredients were clearly fresh, and I loved it. Was it priced well? I don't know, we are talking about Bridge Rd here, not Victoria Street... I even had a serve of gyoza, and in the end I had change from a $20. The staff were a little OTT, like something out of a manga cartoon, but again I ask, are we now living in a place where being friendly to customers is wrong!?!
Comfortable modern Australian cafe feel to the place, but that suit of Japanese armour reminds you that yes, it's not the typical cafe after all. Food wasn't overly expensive, service was good and I didn't have to wait too long for the food. Certainly not the best ramen I've had, but it makes an impression. You notice the artfully placed name on the seaweed (food photographers, go forth and promote) and having duck in the ramen is a first to be honest. The soup isn't too rich, but fills you up nicely. Would likely visit again for lunch.
Tried vegetable gyoza and chicken curry. It was really yummy! Surprised as it was nicer than I had expected. The only issue was the chicken was a bit dried and hard to chew. Apart from that, nice overall:) next time I will try their Ramen!
Modern cafe feel, yet serves authentic ramen. This whole place seems out of synch and a contradiction. But it delivers! Nevermind the questionable, overly huge spoon. Or why theres a samurai mannequin dressed in full armour sitting in one of the chairs. Or even why my karaage is served with egg salad. Heck, my broth was amazing and the noodle had full bite. The gyoza was also delicious. Service was friendly and gracious. No 18 is able to package modern kawaii feel and quality food.
Codalicious is a ramen addict, so a visit to this new joint was always on the card. The menu was a bit different to other ramen places we had been and the broth was quite thick and rich. The duck was beautiful, as were the fermented bamboo shoots. The service was quick and the fit out was cool. The nori with the name of the venue on it was very cool.
Ramen with rich broth, which I love, but just slightly too salty. The noodles were great, they are not too soft/hard, good texture, and no vinegary smell that some shops have. The agedashi tofu is also quite tasty.
Service was great and staff was friendly.
Will return to try other stuff on their menu.
One of the best broths in Melbourne, not too watery and very flavoursome, perfect meal to have in the colder months. Very good value as well had the $19 combo, which includes one bowl of ramen, one rice with duck mince and a drink, hard to find a better tasting and filling meal in Richmond for that price. Restaurant is cosy and service was friendly and attentive.
Authentic Japanese restaurant on Bridge Road, Richmond. Food is delicious and the service is great. 10% discount if you make a cash payment. That's a very generous offer by the establishment. Highly recommended.
Great good. Serving size a little small but great quality. The curry was super flavor some and chicken super juicy. You can tell a great restaurant by the Japanese rice they use (you can literally taste each rice grain separately). The service was friendly (as expected with real Japanese culture) and food came out quick. Will definitely return :)
This place is so good!! The charsiu rice was amazing, definitely my personal favourite! The lotus chips were unique and yummy, the ramen and curry rice was good too!
Highly recommend this place. Cute little restaurant with a very authentic and chilled vibe. The two ladies who served me were incredibly sweet and make my order to perfection. The food itself was delicious, she did not skimp on the seafood and all made fresh. Love this place!
Enjoy an authentic Ramen. I liked the Miso ippatsu. Slightly spicy. Full flavoured but miso broth. Japanese staff. (Osusume wa nandesuka). Buy a snowboard over the road at “Twelve Board store” and then go to Japan skiing.
Awesome ramen! Mostly chicken and fish based broth but the spicy miso is also amazing 😋😋 The staff are super happy and kind too! Definitely recommend!
