Funky little hippy feeling place that makes good coffee and serves nice food to boot! Service was great and the staff were extremely helpful. Was there for a lunch and found the menu limited but good choices with portion sizes reasonable. Had crumpets here a year ago and very nice. This time went with something for my sweet tooth which was equally as good. Kids welcome. Food for those with dietaries is easily catered for. Wheelchair and disability friendly. Parking isn't too bad, just watch those signs as the inspectors are pretty quick here.
If it wasn’t for Google, I would never have found this cute little cafe hidden down a back alley in North Richmond. Walking in, you’re immediately greeted with a clean, calm and cozy atmosphere. It also helps that the food tasted delicious and fresh while the service was great.
Always a great experience. Great coffee, delicious food and just generally a nice place to chill out for a while :) the addition of the hoops outside is just a bonus.
Wanna play basketball while waiting for your coffee? We call this cafe "The Hoops" for Long Street Cafe.
It's very hidden cafe in North Richmond area, we will have no idea whether there is a cafe or not if we don't see a very small sign in the little hoddle street. The place from outside looks like industrial design but when you come inside, the interior design was very modern and minimalist.
The vibe was wonderful, clean, calm, cosy with the slow / relax music; Definitely, it's hard to move your feet as soon as you take a seat in this cafe.I ordered a mocha for $4.00 (*standard price); I had a good feeling about the coffee from this cafe right before I stepped in and it was right.The taste was fantastic, I enjoyed every single sip from my take away cup.It had a balance taste between coffee and chocolate;
Definitely come back to try the brunch menu.
Yay : The taste was good, play basketball

Who can say to have a basketball 🏀 playground right in front of their cafe? Long Street can.
Yes, order a coffee and play ball. The venue is fantastic and the food offering is super!
Amazing. Such a fabulous space to unwind and enjoy a meal from their carefully curated menu. Best coffee in Richmond. Can't go past their hotcakes or their eggs Benny.
Great coffee! Lovely service! Our meals were brought out immaculately presented and tasted delicious! Will definitely be recommending this place to everyone. The interior is beautiful too!
Excellent coffee. Excellent food. Nice people. Great vibe. Melbourne laneway cafe sans pretension. The pancakes are great. Menu always changing with the seasons
Love this hidden café in North Richmond. In an area with no shortage of good coffee, this one is worth the extra little walk down the curious lane way. The reason we rate this place so highly is because of it's stunning seasonal menu. The goods is not just delicious- is also locally sourced and well thought out.
Good whole-food menu. Not particularly large portion sizes, but adequate unless you're a super sized eater. Asked for extra hot latte and got an extra hot latte which is always encouraging these days. Free wifi up to 50Mb cap - select the iiNet Free hotspot.
Brunched at Long Street Coffee on Saturday and was blown away. Hidden down a back alley in North Richmond this cafe is a total gem. Not only is the cafe itself calm and relaxing but its not overrun by mobs of people so you can easily score a table. On top of that the food is super tasty and the coffee is top notch too. I ordered the zucchini, mint and halloumi fritters with smoked salmon, poached eggs and lemon aioli and was really impressed. The egg was perfectly runny and I loved the generous addition of the grilled halloumi. The wholemeal pancakes with double maple, fresh mixed berries and mascarpone also looked stunning. Will have to return ASAP to try those!
Excellent coffee! You can tell it has been made by a professional and passionate barista. I find it hard to get a good coffee with soy as I am lactose intolerant but this was done well! Accompanied by a little sour cherry and lemon cake... It was a perfect autumn afternoon.
Lovely abstract little place in a hidden alleyway of Richmond / Abbotsford. Good coffee, chill atmosphere. Perfect for catching up on creativity 💕🎈💭
I liked the hot chocolate but I don't think it was very sweet and probably needed a bit more fluff!
otherwise it was great the waiters were nice and the cafe itself was cute!😀☕️

Stumbled across this gem whilst wandering the streets of Melbourne, then realised it’s been on my to-do list for a while! I love their whole angle of helping asylum seekers, they’re doing such a positive thing for the community and their staff is so lovely! Super friendly, smiley and efficient. Unfortunately the dog aspect isn’t so well catered for thanks to City of Yarra and their ridiculous rules (seriously, worst council ever) but they’re on the case and hopefully some al fresco dining isn’t far off. The coffee was poured to perfection, and my staple of scrambled eggs and bacon was superb. Not sure if my friend didn’t read the menu correctly, but he wasn’t overly enthused about the dill in his sandwich (I’d have loved to take it off his hands, but trout ain’t my thang). Overall a lovely café with a genuine, warm heart. Love it.
We stopped by for a coffee yesterday and it was great. I would say better than hard pressed (or other local)We live down the road and for some reason we have never been here.
The menu sounded super interesting so we will be back for some organic grub!
Love the basketball hoop outside ;-)
Owners super friendly and the fit out is fresh and sleek.
Amazing food, amazing service and a social mission that is true to the Australian notion of a 'fair go'. If you're going to have a coffee today, do some good too! These guys are a true inspiration. The cafe is beautifully furnished and the vibe is chilled out and unassuming. Try the smashed avo on toast, it's to die for. Staff are lovely and the service can't be faulted. Get in quick, it won't be a 'secret' for much longer!
Such a beautiful tucked away cafe with excellent food and service. We sat for 2 hours and had the most wonderful time! Thank you to all the staff and chefs for an excellent birthday breakfast for my sister :)
This hidden gem is just the right place to go to hungover on a Sunday. The minimalist Swedish décor gives it a tranquil setting and the cold drip coffee is one of the best I've ever had. Oh and the food is spectacular!
This cafe is amazing! A beautifully decorated, warm and relaxing space. Little difficult to find but all part of its charm. The coffee was perfect. I had the eggs benny, perfectly cooked eggs amazing slow cooked ham hock and potato rosti. My friends had the smashed avo, which was incredible. All meals beautifully presented and delicious. Highly recommend!!
Delicious food, good coffee and friendly staff in this cafe determined to make a difference in so many ways . I enjoyed my poached chicken and coconut salad, a share of the wholemeal hotcakes and the strawberry custard special. Beautiful presentation with edible flower garnishes. My husband loved his lamb burger. A bit tricky to find down a side street, but worth it! Bought some Proud Mary coffee to take home. Shoot a couple of hoops before you head off!
Beautiful in it's simplicity. Genuinely lovely people doing it right. Beautiful space on a nice quiet street. I actually cannot fault Long Street at all. The meals are absolutely delicious as are the coffees and the homemade lemonade is a must! Nice selection of sweet treats in the cake display, too. Long street is such a nice environment to kick back and relax along with the best service. To top it all off, the prices are extremely reasonable. Will continue to return, over, and over.
Fantastic inner city cafe serving Proud Mary coffee and a small but delicious menu. Friendly owners who are warm and inviting employing and training young asylum seekers.
Awesome place! Coffee was excellent, and the menu is divine. Had the Apple Cider Eggs Benedict, and it was amazing. Wish I could have sampled everything on the menu.Atmosphere is great, and staff are friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning. I dont understand why this place only has 3.4 stars :\
Brilliant new little coffee shop and cafe. Amazing coffee and brunch menu with passionate staff and a great environment. I love that the owners have created this little gem to support new refugees to Australia. Highly recommended.
Went here on Sunday. Staff were very attentive and polite. Nice to be greeted with a smile. Coffee was great and the food was good too. Very quick service. Can't wait to come back and try the pancakes they look amazing
Amazing coffee! Had to go for seconds! :O
Cute little cafe full of heart. Great to catch up with friends for breakfast, brunch or lunch!
Definitely would try again ;)
Posted by Chasing a Plate in Richmond on 27/08/2015. If you want to feel good about spending pennies at a cafe (pleasure derived from consuming an excellent coffee and good food aside) then Long Street Coffee should be on your hit list. Baristas Francois and Jane Marx crowd funded and hustled to create their social enterprise cafe which employs young refugees to teach them the ropes in crafting the perfect brew. Having both volunteered within the Collingwood refugee community for a number of years, Long Street is borne from their vision to empower refugees and asylum seekers who are setting up new lives in Australia through up-skilling and employment.
Delicious coffee, wonderful space and some of the best eggs benny going around! Love what these guys are doing, and so happy the kitchen is up and running. This place needs to be added to your list!
Banging Music, Exceptional Service, and pipping hot Chai rivaling the best, drank streetside in India.
Exceptional Coffees and Brunch plates too.
Beautiful Melbourne Cafe inconspicuously hiding in a grafitti-filled laneway beside North Richmond Station
Great coffee! One of the best crossiants I have had in a while. In the most amazingly Melbourne location.
I will be back to explore the actual menu.
Great place for coffee and cake. Tried the banofee and pumpkin and it was bloody good.
Nice atmosphere and settings in an old warehouse like building!
Food and coffee are good. Certainly need to try more popular items to see how they go.
Lovely hidden gem! Coffee is amazing, employees are such a vibe and are so kind💗 basketball ring is always a plus
Service is genuine and the space is full of warmth. Went there two seperate days and the two long blacks were some of the best I've had. Great flavours with a nice balance of sweetness and acidity. Their food menu reads well and was well executed. The pumpkin hotcakes was well cooked, flavours were balanced and had great textures. The potato and halloumi hash brown was just an amazing dish. The hash brown was seasoned well and textures of all the elements complimented the flavours. The tomato relish was delicious and really paired well with the hash brown. Portion sizes are appropriate and good value for money. I would love to come back and more regularly too.
Incredible atmosphere and the staff are always so cheerful. It's the place to come if you want a relaxing start to the morning. Great for brunch and lunches great range of amazing food.
They take coffee seriously so come expecting a great cup
