We ordered a cake for my daughter's 1st birthday and it was simply incredible!!! I was amazed with the flavour. Matilda was so nice to communicate with. The whole experience was perfect. Cannot wait to try more of their cakes šš

I'm a big home baker myself, so I can appreciate the love and effort that goes into small artisnal bakeries and cake houses. It takes passion and patience to get up every day and produce delicious baked goods that are also appealing to the eye. Proof Bakehouse on busy Bridge Road is the perfect example of a little bakery cafe full of heart. The light space has several comfortable places to sit and enjoy a coffee and cake. The ambience is relaxed and the staff are chatty and friendly; and it's obvious they are passionate about their baked goods.
With so many gorgeous treats on offer it was a difficult choice, but I finally settled on my favourite carrot cake, and a crack pie. The cake was beautiful and moist, filled with the aromatic spices that I love so much in carrot cake. The cream cheese frosting was light and fluffy, and we enjoyed this cake so much.
The crack pie had a fabulous pastry crust, and that beautiful sweet filling that makes these pies so addictive. With a delicious caramel flavour, I could eat this all day long. Proof Bakehouse may be small, but it's so worth a visit, especially if you are fond of homemade cakes, tarts and cookies.
Pretty amazing cakes which surprised me š° I donāt recall them having much varieties (as opposed to the famous Brunetti) Itās tiny lil shop with is not ideal to accommodate large numbers.

Popped in for a coffee (and a sneaky piece of cake) while waiting for a friend. I was greeted in such a warm manner and ended up having a lovely chat with the front of house staff member (possibly owner). My soy cappuccino was lovely, and my raw Nutella slice soooo good! It was massive too, I couldnāt eat it all! Such a beautiful space to pop in with friends!
The cakes were very moist and the frosting was not overly sweet, fantastic that you can order this late in the evening to satisfy those cake cravings. The portions are generous and justifies the cost. Personally the flavours were just ok, I felt the red velvet could take on richer flavours and the banoffee chocolate cake could have a thin layer of dulce de leche instead of a little drizzle at the top to give it more oomph. Again that is personal preference... Overall decent cakes.
I ordered through Ubereats last night as I was craving a delicious cake. I ordered a slice of Tim tam cheesecake and a brownie. When I received my order they forgot the cheesecake! I was super disappointed as I was really looking forward to it-however it may have been Uberās fault. Nevertheless, the brownie was delicious.
Update: Iāve since ordered more times and the cake has been consistently delicious-sometimes you get a little extra something too. The giant cookie and carrot cake are my favourites.
What a gem! This is the perfect place to order a cake for a special occasion. The Tim Tam Mudcake was excellent and the Nutella/Kit Kat toppings were sublime. Thanks Isabelle for the cake and thanks for your great communication! Will come back again!
Ordered a tim tam baked cheesecake for a birthday at work and it was incredible! The whole experience was great. Isabelle is so lovely, helpful and quick to reply to messages. The cheesecake it self was amazing! Everyone loved it and it was nice and light (so good for morning tea). We had it delivered as well which made everything so easy for us. Canāt wait to order more and go into the actual shop to try more things!

I only tried a slice of salted caramel macadamia cheesecake and it took me to another level. It was velvet in my mouth, w a creamy texture but silky smooth.
Iāve never tasted anything like it before... why have I been missing out?? Well I wonāt be anymore as we are going to order a cheesecake for Xmas ... Yay!! Hahahaha

Delicious cakes!! I had the almond ganache torte! It was delicious š! I got to try the cakes that my friend ordered too, and they were delicious! :)
Loved this place.
It was grand final day and I was going out to a meeting and left the Man and children at home and got the recovery pack.
It came with a brownie, popcorn (yum) cheese sandwich, soda and a little banana bread.
For $35 they were all happy.
Lost half a point on the sausage roll. Had so many chunks of fat but I guess that's how people like it (I'm more a lean meat girl!)
Overall happy with the cakes, cookies, cheese toast and the croque monsieur, everything were yummy.
Service by the pastry chef was friendly and you can tell that shes very passionate about it.
Owner/manager couldāve been more friendly.

I had heard great things about Proof is in the Pudding so I was rather excited as I was heading down for weekend treat. And what a treat it was - not just the sweets but getting to meet the lovely Isabelle who bakes all the amazing desserts on offer.
The flourless pistachio friand was light despite the heaviness of the almond meal and was super moist. I loved that the bright green colour of the friand translated into strong flavours of pistachio and that the pieces of pistachio gave it additional texture. The dollop of dark chocolate fudge on top added another dimension and the bitterness of the chocolate cut through the richness of the friand. I was especially excited to try the famous honey pistachio cheesecake($9) as cheesecake is one of my favourite desserts and I was not let down. The cheesecake was so light and creamy while the base was buttery and crunchy - I haven't had such a great cheesecake in a while! The notes of honey and abundance of pistachio only added to the delightful experience of the cheesecake. Although towards the end I did find the desserts were a tad on the oily side, I enjoyed both of them so much and cannot wait to try the rest of what Isabelle has to offer.
Although the desserts are exceptional, it wouldn't be a trip down to Proof is in the Pudding if Isabelle weren't there. I had come in with a groupon voucher and although I was unable to redeem it as the scanner wasn't working, Isabelle was kind enough to offer me a pistachio friand so as to not let me go home empty-handed. She also cut me a massive slice when I bought the cheesecake and also gave me her number to let her know how everything was. She is so lovely and made the whole experience a hundred times better. Can't wait to be back!

The best red velvet cookies I've ever tried. It has a gooey Nutella centre that just makes my tastebuds dance even more! And this is coming from someone who isn't the biggest fans of anything red velvet because it can easily taste artificial, in my opinion, but not these though! The milk complements the cookies well, I felt like a kid again. It's a fancier way of eating your milk and cookies I guess š And can we talk about that presentation for a second? That adorable milk bottle and that pink & gold tea cup? š The hot chocolate was amazing as well! Not to sweet, just the way I like it šš»
The owner, Isabelle, is a genuinely sweet person and cares very much about her customers. I can see that she is very passionate in what she does, baking and serving customers! She actually converses with her customers and gives them the time of day, which sadly is something rare these days and therefore I appreciate so much more! āŗļø
Overall, this is such a hidden gem and so much worth your money and time! 10/10 would definitely recommend! šš»

I can't emphasize enough of how much I love Proof is in the Pudding; the service is exceptional, never had I been served by someone who is as genuine and sweet as Isabelle. And it's not just the service, I fell in love with the cookies. It was milk and cookies from the menu. The cookies are different daily, and I had the galaxy cookie from today's options. It melted in my mouth, so gooey and soft, just perfect for my liking in terms of texture and sweetness. Honestly it's the best cookie I've ever tasted and I must say that it lives up to its nameā so good it makes you feel like out of this world, like in galaxy š
Their coffee is another thing that I'll come back for, and I have yet to try their hot chocolate too.
Wish I had known about Proof is in the Pudding long time ago. I highly recommend this for all sweet tooth out there (the cookies especially) ā¤

You can't help but fall in love with this place. The service is friendly and the cakes are clearly made with love. Sometimes, you just want a cake that's unpretentiously soul-satisfying and made for stuffing in your face because they taste too good to slow down. My favourites out of the cakes I've tried so far are the Devil's Breakfast Cake and Honey Pistachio Cheesecake.
I can't wait to order a birthday cake from here!

AMAZING sweet treats, we loved everything. Isabelle's service is the best in the biz, you can tell she is passionate and a natural at what she does. We had the gluten free chocolate cake, orange and almond cake and ferrero rocher bliss balls and it was all so delicious. We have been telling everyone about this place and will be back soon!
Living in South Yarra so many years, and I've never really had my favorite cake store, until Isabelle opened her store nearby. An elegant, beautiful yet humble stop for all the sugar addicts. There are so many great choices, you just need to ask her what you prefer, light, heavy, creamy, romantic, gluten freeĀ etc.. Her dessert is truly world class, there is not a single day that its the same.
Wow is all I have to say, The Red Velvet Cake was so amazing, and my wife LOVED the Carrot Nut. It had so many nuts in it. We had them take away but I'm definitely going to go back when I have time to dine in as the decor is great!
I really liked the cheesecake (very creamy) and also Ā that they have drinks which aren't mainstream, the staff were really passionate and helpful :) I'll definitely be back for more!

A bit of backstory. I love sweets, especially cookies and eat them as main meals. My partner says if the zombie apocalypse ever occurs, I can survive on cookies alone, literally speaking but not nutritionally speaking. I already knew I was definitely going to order the milk and cookies here and enjoy it tremendously, just because I love cookies and I have tasted many of Isabelle's treats. End of backstory.
Well, Isabelle never disappoints. I was presented with hot out of the oven thick, fudgy and chewy chocolate cookies and perfectly spiced, crispy on the edges and soft in the centre gingerbread cookies. If that wasn't enough to send me into a frenzy, the lusciously creamy honey pistachio cheesecake with the thick cookie crust definitely did the job. And you know it's mouth-wateringly delicious when your carnivore partner who proclaims that he can't live without meat starts snatching the plate away from you. Same goes for the almond ganache torte. I think Isabelle has uncovered his hidden love for cakes, and I thank her for that. I sense a cake party happening soon! No points for guessing where the cakes will be coming from.
NB: If you have never tried Isabelle's creation before, The Baker's Bench is an excellent opportunity for you to try individual slices and test the water. If you have, then it's just another reason for you to indulge. Not only is Isabelle a talented baker, she is one of the sweetest human being ever. Keep up the great work, Isabelle!
Isabelle never fails to surprise, and the launch of her new store in South Yarra is of no exception. I was simply awestruck by her amazing shortbread biscuits, and just how moist and well balanced all her other cakes were.
With a retail store now officially open, I can now feel a little less guilty when Iām treating myself to Isabelleās creations, as I can indulge in just one, as opposed to half a dozen, of her beautiful cakes all by myself. Of course, you can still order a bakerās dozen to share with all your friends!
