Review Tokyo Sake - Ringwood North

Paul Smith
Great little Japanese restaurant. Refurbished since our last visit some time ago and looking very nice. Like all businesses at the moment looking for staff but service was responsive and attentive. Meals were very good. The establishment is licensed (wine selection limited but well priced), usual beers plus a few Japanese brands and saki of course. You can also byo ( I think that corkage was $2 per head). Will visit again.

Everything was great, very polite and professional staff. Outstanding food. Highly recommended

Pretty disappointed for the poor service last night. The servers were impatient with us and could not offer one small smile. They didn't offer any tea/coffee/desert, and couldn't clear our table away. We were offered a bottle of water! Food was strangely over salted? we have been there so many times, but last night was just the worst service and food was poor quality we have to say something! I couldn't believe the servers had that awful, impatient look when we were still discussing in our group. Would we recommend? not likely Would we return? no.

Our group of eight shared a tasty array of dishes and enjoyed our visit. When one of our party took suddenly ill, the staff was particularly helpful. We would visit again.

We paid around $130 (not including delivery) for a few dishes for a night in. All tasting like soy sauce, over cooked, cheap frozen vegetables and barely any meat. Definitely not worth the price. The miso soup and eggplant were OK, however still not worth the price. Would highly not recommend. Bento dishes were also full of cheap melon fruit, infact they had supplied more fruit than meat.

If you're looking for Japanese food, this is the right place for you. Good food, prices and costumer service. The staff is very friendly.

This place is a total gem! The decor is traditional and provides a great atmosphere. The food is fantastic and everytime takes me back to my visits to Japan. The staff are really friendly and go out of their way to help you if you ask. Highly recommend trying as hard as possible to come to this restaurant!

Great food! The Teppanyaki and Sushi are fantastic! Service was fast and friendly. Would recommend to my friends. Will be going again 👍

Would have been here close to 100 times. Definitely a favourite. Cheap night out with decent food. Don't expect fine dining but it is still quality - it's westernised Japanese food. Can get busy occasionally which can be noisy, and service sometimes struggles with a full house. But overall a great place to duck in and have a quick meal

It’s a little unfair to judge a place solely on takeaway, but the food we got was underwhelming. The curry katsu was average, whilst the curry was nice the pork katsu was close to inedible as it was so chewy. The gyoza and takoyaki were bland. Won’t be back

I was expecting something special of this restaurant because of the rating and the glowing reviews, however I was quite disappointed, especially at $45 per serve for a banquet. The udon soup was simply a broth, with some spring onions sliced into it, tasty but simplistic. The seafood salad was salmon mixed with mayo with a couple of slices of avocado on top. The tempura prawns were not served in tempura batter, but in a panko coating. The sushi was ok, but of no better quality than that you can find in a food court. Most disappointing was the keisen teppanyaki - the sauce was overly thick and sweet and tasted more like a Chinese sauce from a jar than anything a Japanese chef would create. Finally, the jasmine tea was provided in little cups with the teabag still in them - we were expecting an ever ending pot of loose leaves as you would receive in any good Japanese restaurant. Also, sadly, the service was slow and communication is clearly not a forte.

All in all, if you are looking for a family friendly environment and not too concerned about an authentic Japanese experience, this place will suit you. If however food excellence is important to you, I would travel a little further afield.
Good Food Good Mood
I got a sushi and sashimi bento and it was fresh, vibrant and delicious. Good value for money and very filling if made for an excellent take away option.

This is our go-to Friday night take-away. Really delicious food, friendly service and quick. The restaurant itself is welcoming and warm inside. I highly recommend!
Tish Piaser
From the outside I was a bit sceptical but inside its really quite pretty. Waitresses in traditional gowns, sake bottles and Japanese ornate fans. Food prices are great, service is efficient and the food itself was really really yum. Will be back.

Absolutely love this restaurant. The interior is beautiful. Not too bright or dark. I also love the staff’s adorable Japanese uniform. They are also incredibly attentive and friendly. Food is delicious. I highly recommend the bento boxes & the rainbow rolls. Food comes out fast and hot. Definitely worth your money.

We decided to try Tokyo Sake after looking in Zomato. Incredible! Great food, impeccable service. Really enjoyed the chicken wings! Oyako Don was great!

I love this place. Great food, and really nice staff. I always feel welcome at Tokyo Sake. I would like to see a few more vegan options however as well as a vegan bento box. I do also find the teriyaki sauce a bit sweet for my liking, just a stir fry option would be nice. Just little things for an awesome restaurant.

Weve been to this place a number of times and liked it. The food is nice and the staff are generally courteous . On our last visit though we had a poor experience with a young waitress we hadnt seen before. Everything was fine until we had finished our meal; my wife had at the start ordered some take away for our son and daughter who were not with us. When it was time to leave and the take away arrived my wife informed the girl that it wasnt complete and only one meal was provided and that she had ordered two . The waitress then proceeded to tell my wife that she had only ordered the one meal. I corrected her politely and informed her that I clearly heard my wife ordering 2 separate take away meals. At this point we could see that she was irritated and clearly not believing us.
No matter, my wife didnt argue but shrugged it off and ordered the second meal and we decided to wait as we weren't in a hurry . After the girl had gone the senior waitress (who was no doubt informed by the junior , appeared and enquired what the matter was. My wife explained what had happened; the older waitress seemed a little haughty and not too interested , advised that it will be ready in about 5 minutes and walked off. No apology.
About 30 minutes later the rest of the order arrived and we paid and left. I generally leave a decent tip but not this time . We left this place feeling annoyed. We didnt complain, raise our voices, belittle the young waitress or her older off sider, make a scene or any of that. Yet my wife was made to feel as if she had got it wrong . Neither of the two staff apologised or at least , in the interest of good customer service , suggest that it was an unfortunate misunderstanding. We are in two minds whether to go back . The food is nice and you cant blame the Chef or other staff for the actions of one or two . However, it showed me how poor staff can help wreck a good business. We will go back but any more hiccups like that and we wont be going back, good food or not.

Went here for dinner last night for my birthday.
The venue was filled with beautiful Japanese culture, water fountains and giant fans and greenery. Very welcoming.
The staff and management were absolutely lovely! Very kind, sweet, polite and non-invasive.
The food was nothing short of outstanding! Every plate that came out of the kitchen turned heads! We ordered 5 courses and all came out very fast, the presentation and authenticity was a knock out!
We were so very impressed! We will definitely be back! Thank you Tokyo Sake!!! 10/10!!!
Service was great! Food was ok. The sushimi was amazing, definitely the best I've had in the area. The tempura prawns were ok, but have had better. The teppanyaki plate was good, the lamb was great, however the squid in the seafood one wasn't that great. Overall good food, but wouldn't come again.

Went here for my partners birthday last night and it was absolutely wonderful. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food was beautifully prepared and very fresh. It was definitely one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time and we'll be back for sure!
Gina
Sashimi is great, pan fried gyoza a bit salty so are the tepanyaki seafood and gluten free port meal. A bit of wait for dish to come out despite not seems too busy in the restaurant.
CCC
Really friendly staff, fresh food, and beautiful atmosphere with burning wood fire, decorations and scented candles. I also really enjoyed the complimentary salad it was delicious! The spicy chicken bento was very spicy but delicious. The sashimi bento was fantastic but probably needed to be a bit larger as contained a lot of garnish. But prefer quality over quantity so it was great. But loved it and will definitely return.

What's great: Friendly service, food's up quickly, fireplace. Some of the food is really appealing too. Two of us started with soup, the Miso was good, though I expected some veg such as either spinach or seaweed and there was only the tofu and spring onion, flavour was as you'd hope. The Udon Soup was a surprise, as we expected noodles, and there were none, it was a broth - a good broth - just unexpected.

Adored the quirky plates.

Highlight was the Tebesaki - chicken wings, sweet and umami, crunchy and moist.

The dumplings (gyoza, mize gyoza) were textually very soft, but nice enough. The Okonomiyaki were also soft, within and quite delicious. Sashimi was exquisite, sushi was good. The Spicy Pork Bento was very generous, and well-spiced. Lovely Plum Wine (I like a sweet wine), Mango Ice-Cream went down quickly with my youngest dining companion.

What's less great: The Red Bean Pancake arrived without Red Beans - when my dining partner mentioned the absence of the beans the waitress explained they had run out. It would be preferable surely to notify the diner beforehand in case they might have preferred a different dish. As it was, the lack of beans meant the dessert was described as being overly sweet.

The Katsu or Tonkatsu sauce that went so well with the Okonomiyaki turned up on a sushi roll, and that didn't work for me.

Seaweed Salad, often a fave of mine, wasn't appealing here - though two others at my table found it good enough.

Japanese Tea was served in cute little cups with lids - and a teabag. Top ups were offered, though not all that frequently, and the water, was unfortunately lukewarm.

Prices are reasonable.
Jess
Always delicious - freshest sushi in town - never disappoints! Decor a tad dated, but food is not to be complained about. Always a happy customer!

I can't believe I've lived right around the corner from this restaurant for seven years and never been there! I corrected this oversight with my partner tonight and we thought it was great! For me, Japanese food is an art, it's either great, or it's terrible. I'm happy to report that Tokyo Sake gets it right! In looking at some of the other reviews of this restaurant, I can't believe people are rating it lower because of the interior decor (it's in an old bank building). For me a restaurant review needs to be about three things, food, service and price (providing the place isn't so bad its a heath hazard!) Tokyo Sake met all my expectations in these three areas tonight.
The food was simply mouth watering. We had difficulty picking entrees between us and ended up selecting three entree's between the two of us, expecting them to be small. We were surprised to see they were quite generous. We tried the Gyoza (pan fried dumplings), Yakitori (chicken skewers with teriyaki sauce) and vege spring rolls. All were good, with the dumplings and skewers a real standout.
For main course I selected the Sukiyaki Beef Teppanyaki and my partner selected the Spicy Chicken Teppanyaki. Both were served on sizzling hot plates, and both were delicious!
Service was fast (perhaps too fast at the start, but after mains were served we were left to relax and enjoy) everyone was friendly, and the food came out fresh and hot.
I also think the restaurant was reasonably priced for the quality of food, certainly no more expensive than others in the area.
Overall we had a very positive experience at Tokyo Sake and I can't wait to go back!
LJ
Have eaten here twice and overall it has been delightful. The service was friendly, the food came out relatively quickly. The quality of the food was great. We tried a few dishes are weren't disappointed. Overall some of the entrees do seem overpriced the edamame particularly.

This is a nice unaffected little Japanese restaurant. Contrary to what a few reviewers say below, I've never had food here that wasn't fresh and well-prepared (I will pause to point out that a number of the reviewers who've given very low scores have never posted reviews elsewhere on Zomato, and in one case the reviewer has just one other review in their profile and that one effusively praises a different local Japanese - make of that what you will).

My partner and I eat here from time to time, and frequently have takeaway. We mostly order the sushi, or the sushi/sashimi combinations and the fish is always good. Gyoza is tasty and the one time I had tempura it was nicely prepared and fresh.

The restaurant is simple and unpretentious and the staff are always polite and helpful. It's not the most fancy place in the restaurant world, but it provides reliable and very decent cuisine.
Steph Eddy
The salmon bento box is delicious! It was the perfect size and everything in it was yummy! The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant!
Sarah
Extremely disappointing experience. Prices are waaaaay too high for the quality of food you are served. Beef tataki was tough and not fresh at all, huge turn off. Ordered the vege okonomiyaki and it was dry and tough as a boot, could hardly cut it with a knife and fork. Bento boxes were unappetizing and couldn't even finish it.
Nicole Fang
We were very disappointed about our dinner. The service was good but the food was absolutely never to go back to! The sashimi was not fresh at all. $14 for 7 thin slices of fish and yet they weren't even fresh. Beef Tataki was partially discoloured and clearly not fresh either. Chicken Katsu was obviously bulk buy chicken schnitzels and most of all, their chicken Katsu don was very salty/sweet at the same time! I don't get how they get high reviews but we will definitely not go back ever.
Loulou
Quick customer service and food was packed with flavour. Although food was on the expensive side it was of good quality with a range of dishes to choose from including classic Japanese desserts.
Samantha Ayton
Amazing food, lovely staff & very quick service. Very much looking forward to the next time I go back. (Which is in 2 days time) Highly recommend.
Barley And Hops
I was hoping to have found another good Japanese restaurant to add to the list with this one but unfortunately it was not to be. Right from the first impressions of a derelict building from the outside through to the fairly pricey bill at the end it was a let down. The interior atmosphere is only a bit better than the outside, very tacky decorations everywhere with bad lighting whilst being very noisy. The food was hit and miss, some items were quite good but others like the Tuna tasted like it was straight out of Costcos freezer and their beer selection is terrible. However the staff were very friendly and helpful which kept me from rating it lower. It was by no means an unpleasant night but there was nothing particularly good either, leaving no urge to return.
Marissa Parkhurst
This restaurant was a little overpriced for an outer suburb Japanese restaurant. However the service was attentive and had a great atmosphere. The food was a little disappointing as the sushi rice was dry, however the presentation was beautiful. Probably won't be back.
Laura Seymour
We dined here last night and were very impressed and happy. Service was very friendly and attentive. We loved the decor of the resturant. Our bentobox were flavour some and very reasonably priced. Couldn't ask for me! Will be back!
Snowflower
Unfortunately, we weren't impressed by the food quality. The udon soup was really quite salty. The rice in the sushi rolls were too dry. The mango ice cream tasted like bubble gum? The tempura tasted like it's been cooked in "old" oil. And the gyozas were simply too soggy. However, we liked the ambience and food presentation. Top marks for those.
Uqui
Saturday night, suburban restaurant, should be able to just walk in, I thought... Oh how little I knew. We did get a table but we had to wait a few mins for it to be ready. The restaurant was full! After eating there I can see why! We had vegetable tempura and gyoza for starters. The tempura was crisp and very delicious with the vegetables being soft and fully cooked inside. The gyoza was a bit oddly shaped - long and pointy but tasted great. For mains, I had a bento - sashimi - and my guest had the Japanese curry. Having recently traveled to Japan and tried curry there I can safely say that the curry served here was very authentic. The spices were gentle, the vegetables inside soft and well cooked, exactly how they are meant to be. And the 'katsu' - fried crumbled chicken - was delicious and quite flavorful. The umashu - plum wine - was a direct import from Japan and served on the rocks - as I prefer it so I was happy!

The staff were attentive without being over bearing which added to a lovely, if someone casual dining experience. One I would highly recommend.

When I went into work the next day, let's just say that some of the people who live near there weren't surprised at my experience. The place is well known in the area for being great!
Miss Sage Sugar
I was a little concerned to find that they only had chopsticks on offer as I have always been completely useless when it comes to mastering them. However, today it was like I was possessed by a Japanese spirit and I was picking up even the hardest of objects with them!

Very lovely food as always! Great waiting service.
Prices on the expensive side but the lamb was beautiful, and the pork dumplings. Will be back!
Nicole Murphy
Perfect. My family and I had dinner here last night.
We have two young toddlers and ordered the seaweed salad, mize dumplings, beef tataki, sushi and sashimi combination and stir fried soba with tofu.

The staff were warm and friendly. Food was beautiful and fresh, presented beautifuly and delicious.

We will go again

Family Favourite. First went to here last year for my brother's sixteen birthday. Have been back a few times since, and have loved it every time. The staff are incredibly friendly, the service is prompt and the food is always delicious. Definitely the best Japanese restaurant in the area, with plenty of options that my family can eat (We're a family of vegetarians). I'm intending to go there in a few days for my 19th birthday.
Norat
Nice little local. Food has always been beautiful whenever we go, service is fast and well priced.
Some Like It Hot
Yum. Our first time here. Excellent quality food that came out fast, and great service. We moved from the city a few months ago and its nice to find a restaurant out in the burbs that is on par with what we were used to in the CBD. Will definitely be back.

Some of the pretentious reviews here are laughable! This is a cheap eat in the suburbs not high end fine Japanese dining. Great for when you don't feel like up the dishes
Harry.trevillyan
Terrible. Worst japanese I have ever had. The tempura - prawns had panko crumbs and not a tempura batter and everything was greasy. The sashimi was a mix of frozen (?) and fresh fish - salmon was ok but the tuna was clearly not fresh and had the taste of a defrosted / waterlogged fish .. Better sushi at can be obtained at a shopping centre. Very disappointing, not cheap and I will not be visiting again.

-----09 Jun, 2014-----

Terrible. Food was Delicious!! The tempura prawn is actually fried freshly. rainbow roll and yakitori are fabulous. And the service is quite good. Love to come again.

Fantastic restaurant. We just love going to Tokyo Sake, the food is beautiful, fresh and hot every time! The owner and staff are all great, so attentive!!

This place was ok, old building didn't have that Japanese restaurant feel like others do. Non Japanese waitresses, no kimonos, was just lacking. Food was ok but over priced
Matt Moran
Wow 35 mins to make and serve a banana fritter in a 30% capacity restaurant. Too slow. I had already digested my main by the time the dessert was served. Unacceptable given the pricy asking. Service was poor.
Lauren M
Love it. Visited for a birthday in 2013 and had a Banquet for 5 people. All the food was absolutely delicious, tasted fresh and we all felt was great value for money. We had warm sake with our meal, too. My only complaint would be that the green tea ice cream wasn't that great - but I think that was just my tastebuds and nothing wrong with the actual ice cream.
Logan H
Below than average quality food as well as overpriced. Fish is not even remotely fresh and the rice is probably cooked early morning and served throughout the day for sushi. Some dishes like Salmon teppanyaki are actually Thai(!) style. Its not too bad in general however any random sushi franchisee will serve better quality dishes with much cheaper price.
Tess
A dinner a day. Tokyo Sake..... Where do I begin? We always seem to go there if we can't be bothered making dinner. I mostly have the rainbow roll and miso soup and every now and then would have a bento box, while my mum, dad and two brothers would always have the bento box. They are always delicious and there's no point where I get sick of what I'm eating or find anything under cook or gross. They always say hi to us because we've been there so many times and they are so friendly and serve us with a complimentary entree. I would defiantly recommend it to everyone and would defiantly recommend the bento box and rainbow roll.

This has been one of our most favourite local Japanese restaurants of which our families and friends often eat. Last Friday night 15 of us all (all women)ate there - food and food service was superb as usual- however at 9.30pm we asked for more drinks and were refused as the kitchen was closed - we had never been offered dessert or coffee - at 9.45 one of our group went to use the amenities only to be told the toilets were locked as they were closed - we pointed out that their promoted closing time on a Friday night was 10.30pm and that we had paid in excess of a $400 account - they insisted that they wanted us to leave- admittedly we were the only table remaining, however were a large group having our end of Xmas celebration, a group of well behaved women in the 40-70 year old age bracket and it was only 9.50pm. Additionally we had booked well in advance for this event. We are so upset at the way we all treated and vow never to return. The next evening I popped back in as I had left a jacket behind. At 7.45 on a Saturday night 2 weeks before Xmas I noted just 4 small table of patrons in this large space, one of which has often been difficult to obtain last minute bookings- perhaps there has been a change of good management and this is a reflection of ongoing disgraceful customer treatment. We will miss the beautiful food but can't possibly return - they have lost the custom of many good locals through this event!
Kerry.butler62
Slightly disappointed. We enjoyed the food however do not order the Tempura Curry Don.
This consisted of ONE tempura battered prawn and two tempura battered vegetables. And I mean ONE prawn in a main meal!!
Chilifan
Sad and sorry. It is somewhat unbelievable that anyone would consider this a Japanese restaurant. A fan of Japanese food for over 30 years a visitor to their country and a fish market fiend. This food is poor quality rubbish . I am completely astounded by the reviews clearly to each and everyone that has "enjoyed" this slop you have absolutely no idea about food. Don't waste your money!! Koreans and Chinese really have no idea about Japanese food . This restaurant is only for hill folk

My Fav Place To Eat!!!!. We have dined at Tokyo Sake many times

Prompt service and yummy food! Great for a family.

Fantastic little restaurant. Gorgeous inside. The staff are friendly and attentive. Meals are presented beautifully and are really tasty. I will definitely be back. :)
Pooja
Best Japanese restaurant ever:-))
Therese
DISAPPOINTED. Saw the reviews but nothing like it. Foods & service average, if you are after just a Japanese meal then it's below average because we dined at many Japanese restaurants & this is no way near them, it's more like Chinese mix with Korean food. Definitely not Japanese. Not worth paying for something that's not.
Kobi S
After reading so many good reviews I was disappointed. The seafood was extremely rubbery. I will give it another go but wouldn't order seafood. Sushi was average.
John
Best prawn tempura!. Get to tokyo sake for the best tempura prawn! To die for! always good quick service here too! give it a try!
John Boxall
Excellent. Four of us visited for a full Saturday night. All the food was well cooked, authentic and of generous serves. The bento box sets are highly recommended - you get a "bit of everything" - plus your main choice of the feature. The staff were all happy and obliging. Fully licensed with reasonable prices, and BYO wine. Wise to make a reservation for Saturday nights. Will be our new suburban Japanese restaurant.
Andrew Whiting
Simply awesome. My family and I ate here today and the meal was beautiful

We ate gyoza, tempura and yakatori for entree, every one of the entree's was fresh, quick and tasted fantastic. The stand out was the tempura I would have been happy to just eat this all night as it was light, golden and crunchy

For main we ate sukiyaki beef teppanyaki with rice, this arrived to the table sizzling on the hot plate which our kids loved the excitement. The beef was tender thin sliced with vegetables and beautiful sukiyaki sauce. We also ate a serve of rainbow California rolls that arrives perfectly presented with prawn, salmon, avocado and mango.

All in all this was a great experience and we will be back for sure

We went last night and absolutely loved it. The service was great and the food was excellent.
I Love Food
Everyone and anyone who appreciates good authentic Japanese will love this place. I honestly could not fault Tokyo Sake. It has been a faveourite for 2 years now. Must try the sweet Californian Suchi Rolls- DELISH!! And the bento box is amazing- we always share as I couldn't eat one on my own.
And the staff are beautiful- always smiling & very attentive. Enjoy :-)
Xiong_rose
Food's good. Can't believe.... Food's good.
Can't believe they use tea bag! Even the taste probably same, but the feeling is like: Wow, are we in the food court or what?
Kathy
Always great. Have been to Tokyo Sake many times and always had a great meal. The Udon soup is delcious and much nicer than the usual miso soup you only seem to be able to get at other Japanese restaurants.
Banquets are what we usually have and all courses are of the highest quality. Bento box is good too.
Staff are always welcoming and friendly (much better than staff at Suishaya Inn) and great value for money.
Never disappointed.
Felic
Yummy. We have been here multiple times and i have loved it each time. In fact, might head there tonight as well...
Nic
Needs to lift its game. After reading the excellent reviews for Tokyo Sake we decided to try it for dinner. First impressions were poor as staff took their time to greet us upon entering. As entree, we ordered Okinomiyaki only to find it was dry, overcooked and tasteless. We opted for the bento boxes as mains, only to find the grilled salmon was drowning in sauce and the tempura was soggy and heavy. Dessert was also unpleasant; the mango ice-cream had a texture that seemed to have been defrosted and re-frosted. We were very disappointed with the quality of food here, especially after our recent visit to Japan and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone after something authentic.
Mishy73
Outstanding All Round!. My partner and I took my son out for his 9th birthday tonight to Tokyo Sake for dinner.

The service was friendly and most attentive. Loved the lemon wedge in the water, something you just don't see with any sort of frequency these days, a very nice touch.

We were served a house salad almost immediately after ordering and it was truly delicious. Light and fresh on the palate with a tangy carrot dressing.

As we tend to do with Japanese, we ordered an array of entree meals and shared them. The Gyoza was gorgeous. My partner and I have tried to put our finger on what was different about it, but simply can't work out what it is, however, what ever it is, it makes the dish a stand out.

My son had an entree Tempura which he loved, especially the water chestnut. My partner and I shared a main Yasi Tempura (Vegetarian) and the Chinese Daisy (we thought it parsley and realised upon tasting it wasn't, so asked it's name) was beyond delicious.

The main Sashimi my partner and I shared was fresh and lovely and extremely generous in portion.

The Harumaki was gorgeous and my son thought it beyond fabulous, he was mad about the Gyoza too.

The Miso soup was flavoursome and warm and just what we needed on this cold night. While often I find Miso can be a little on the salty side, this soup I can only call perfect.

I ordered a Nasu Dengaku (Eggplant with a sweet Miso sauce) and it was just magnificent.

We eat a fair bit of Japanses, whenever we can really and I have to say, Tokyo Sake is a local restaurant that we will be frequenting from here on in, whenever we have the inclination for Japanese.

The only drawback of the evening is that we bought our own Sake with us, unaware that BYO was for wine only and not Sake as well. This was no major deal as Sake is sold, quite reasonably by the carafe and the bottom one on the wine list is nothing short of sensational.

If you live in the Ringwood area or are heading out that way for a meal and have the inclination for Japanese, you simply CANNOT go past this restaurant. it is reasonably priced and them meals are generous, prepared to perfection, the service is friendly and attentive without being overbearing in any way and the atmosphere is warm and cosy.

We all walked away VERY, VERY IMPRESSED. My son even walked up to the front counter and thanked the staff for his delicious birthday dinner and told them it's the best Japanese he's ever had and he reiterated it to us on the way to the car, in the car and once in bed.

Give this restaurant a try and you will not be disappointed.
Emily Black
Yummy dinner. Entrees full of flavour so to mains lovely place close to home for a filter dinner.
Daniel Mark Kew
First like!. Awesome food, awesome ambiance, awesome service. Will definitely come back here!
The Rainbow rolls were amazing! We had so much to eat and the bill was very very reasonable.
Chris Fraser
Tasty Japanese in good ol ringwood. Fantastic there is a local option for enjoying decent Japanese, flavours are nice and ingredients fresh. If you're up for some Japanese but not the travel then recommend for sure. Bento Bix takeaway looked good too
Amie Briggs
Nice food at a very reasonable price. Fast and friendly service.

Service was quick and friendly, atmosphere was lovely. The set menu banquet was delicious and filling. Great value for your dollar. Will be back soon.

One of the best around. My wife and I have been going here for two years since our daughter was born. From the first visit the staff have been amazing to the point that now as soon as we walk in they have a bowl of noodles (noo noo's) ready for our daughter. They also play with our daughter when it's quiet so we can actually finish our dinner. Great food and fantastic staff. Can't recommend highly enough
SJMelbgirl
Great local Japanese. This restaurant is great! My friend and I ended up here on a whim (we attempted to get into Suishaya Inn but they were fully booked out) and what a great accident it turned out to be! The eggplant with miso glaze was textbook perfection - steamed well with the right amount of bite, not drowning in oil like other places I've been.

The rainbow roll clean and fresh, and my vege bento box was so enormous I couldn't even get through half of it! Highlights were the creamy salad and the amazing tempura - again there was no oily residue, it was so light and crisp. My friend's spicy pork certainly lived up to its name, she was breaking a sweat towards the end.

Service was very friendly and attentive, and it was the little extras that really counted (lemon in the water glasses, drinks poured at the table.) To top it off, the joint is BYO - we will be back, and with a much larger group next time!

High quality. Went with a group of 6. We all enjoyed the food. 3 of us had the sizzlingTeriyaki Seafood which was more than ample and very tasty. The food was beautifully presented,
great flavours and well priced. The place was fairly well patronised on the night, but the time it took for our orders to be taken was a bit too long. Much better
food than the Suishaya Inn in Ringwood.

Small servings. Nice food, small servings. $25 sushi and sashimi Could do with a few more pieces

Tempura was cooked to perfection; all dishes were tasty. The "curry" Bento Box was to die for. If you are looking for traditional decor go to Japan. The staff were friendly and attentive - good value overall.

Terrible. I knew that from the moment I walked in, it was not going to be great. Service is friendly but not proactive. The food is quite frankly embarrassing when you compare it to Suishaya Inn, which is 5 mins drive from this restaurant. Should the chef try the tempura that I was served, he would do the honorable act of falling on his samurai sword. This not tempura. The batter was soggy and the prawns were in fact coated in panko breadcrumbs, not tempura batter. The rat of the dishes did not fare much better. I will not return and urge others to visit Suishaya inn instead.

Sensational Irban Secret. Wow! Great little urban secret. Excellent and helpful service. Very traditional japanese meals. The deep fried prawns are amazing! Terriyaki's just as devine.
Highly recommend. Very reasonably priced too!
