Review Mister Fox - Ringwood

A fantastic place to have a nice morning brekky, with a picturesque view of the golf course. The morning feeds are pretty decent. I am a fan of the pastrami rye sandwich. Today however, I tried the beef brisket sandwich. To me it is slightly on the dry side, but tasty nonetheless. We also had the tandoori chicken wrap.

nice service,looking out at the golf course is good view,comfortable place,but standard cafe foods.

Great little cafe overlooking the 10th hole at the Ringwood Golf Course. Food is really good with a great variety. Service is amazing and attentive and nothing seems too hard for the crew there. Sitting inside was a little loud with other people talking, but don't let that out you off, there is undercover seating outside and on a nice day that would definitely be the best option.

Really happy with the cheerful welcome from the young staff. Service was more than attentive and we enjoyed our veggie breakfast very much. Ask to sit in the conservatory if you want to be just that little bit quieter...

Great coffees and chai. Love their brunch options too for vegetarians. The staff are very friendly and the views of the golf course are amazing from here. Both indoor and outdoor dining options.

Nice! Chicken salad. Nice cafe with good view of the golf course.

First time to visit Ringwood Golf Club. What a beautiful place.

I went on recommendations from friends, but I have to say the food was very disappointing. My friend ordered the salmon and asked for it without the potato and was told there was no changing to the specials, when it arrived the potato was on the side of the plate anyway, could have easily slipped it off and put more salad on! My ravioli tasted very bland, was supposed to have a mushroom cream sauce. What came was very thin soup like sauce, it just looked and tasted cheap. I would not recommend this place unless you were only after chips and a beer.

Absolutely fantastic cafe. Have been going there for a while and have always been impressed, but even more so recently after we have had a baby. They are so incredibly accommodating of prams and little ones with high chairs. The food is delicious and the staff are amazing and lovely. Highly recommend!

We had our wedding reception at Mister Fox on Saturday and everything was amazing. The service was impeccable, the staff were extraordinary, the food was delicious and the venue in general created the most prefect atmosphere for our wedding. We are beyond pleased and grateful for everything you did to give us an unforgettable day - I would recommend anyone have their functions at Mister Fox!

Thank you to Mister Fox and all of the wonderful staff for making our Engagement Party on Saturday 24th of February a night to remember! We received so many compliments on the food, not only the taste but also how much there was - it was very important to us that our friends and family didn't go home feeling like they needed to stop at Maccas on the way.. So again, thank you. A special thanks to David for making sure that everything on the night ran smoothly! Apologies for the confetti at the end of the night, silly boys! You will be happy to hear that I have already recommend that friends of ours have their engagement party also at Mister Fox.

Hi Matt and the staff at Mister Fox, Eddie and I cannot thank you enough for helping us celebrate our Engagement Party on Sunday afternoon. Everything was perfect and it ran so smoothly. All of our guests loved the food and the view. The staff were very attentive and friendly!!! We will be back for breakfast and lunch soon. Sarah and Eddie :)

Thank you so much Matt and the team for helping to make my 40th birthday one of the best nights ever! The space was just perfect, it looked beautiful at nighttime, and the staff were fantastic. Friends are still commenting on the food. You're doing a great job Matt, well done.

We organized my mums 60th birthday here going off reviews and pictures. It was the best decision we made! The staff were all incredibly helpful allowing us in early to set up and get things sorted, the food was excellent and kept circulating the whole night - couldn’t have asked for anything more. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending mister fox for functions, it’s a great place and will certainly look at having more in the future. Thanks very much for all of your help!

Awesome breakfast at Mister Fox today best big brekkie ever, such friendly staff and beautiful wall garden. Freshest ingredients cooked to perfection. Loved it, can't recommend highly enough.
Annette Degenhardt
Hired the venue for a joint 30th and could not have asked for a more pleasant experience. So easy to plan and organise prior to the event and the staff were great on the night. The food was also top notch

I've been twice now and it's fast become my favorite local cafe. The food is great, coffee is awesome and the staff friendly and attentive. No foxing around it's excellent!

I attended an event here last night and found out about this hidden gem. Great food, great beers from Victoria and worldwide, fantastic prices and a really good atmosphere. The staff are really friendly and make you feel very welcome. Highly recommend for any event or even just a meal or snack during the day.

Thanks so much to Matt and the staff at Mister Fox for making our engagement party such a great night, the atmosphere and venue and food were all amazing and an awesome night had by all! :)

A breakfast brownie whilst we are stuck in our 5km bubble, not a bad brownie (I’m very partial to a nut free brownie and whilst this wasn’t the best I’ve had it was still yummy) and I love the cheeky bag it came in

I was working out of another site nearby recently and with Mister Fox the only option other than the in house cafeteria my choice was clear. I went for a chicken sandwich from the cabinet but there were plenty of made to order options available too. An overall pleasing lunch

Original review
Living ridiculously close to Mister Fox I am partial to a casual hang overlooking the putting green across a plate of housemade dips, dukkha and sourdough. Their breakfast is pretty good too and unsurprisingly it's not just popular amongst those playing golf. The view sets this apart from other local suburban cafes as it's so beautiful and lush. The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed too. A hole in one

Mister Fox was the first cafe we had coffee sitting in after 1st June opening up of cafes. Please to report that coffee was much improved on our last visit in 2018 and had a real oomph.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Previous Review
Mister Fox is within the golf club at Ringwood and has a lovely outlook over the greens. I'm not a golfer but I do appreciate a nice outlook. I ordered the big breakfast known as 'bigger than a fox, almost wolffish' which was very hearty indeed with eggs, hash browns, bacon, beans, sausages all on sourdough. The menu mentions they don't change breakfasts on the weekends when they are at their busiest but our waitress happily let me swap out the fried eggs for poached. I do enjoy a good poached egg. Others in our group where a little less ambitious than me opting for the build your own breakfast with nearly everyone choosing the 'McDonald's' hash browns which were a delight. I always order a strong coffee unless I know the place well and I needed to here as I wouldn't have liked the standard brew.
Appetizing menu, great quality food and choice. Substantial size dishes.Great Genovese coffee. Friendly and attentive staff. excellent value.
Came here so many times still so enjoyable. Spend a good time with my family on Sunday.
My favour is the big breakfast for fox sake. Good portions and delicious.👌👍
A noisy cafe for a get together with friends. Luckily we were seated in a side area which was not busy at the start but got busier as the morning progressed. We went for breakfast and the food was standard cafe food. The names of the dishes are inventive, I ordered the "Fox in the Veggie Patch" which was OK except for the corn fritter which was dense and did not taste of corn. This cafe is at a golf course so the parking was plentiful. Service was attentive but a bit intrusive. Nothing was that bad but also nothing was that outstanding to make it memorable.
The staff couldn't be more helpful or more helpful when I brought my 90 year old mother here for lunch. Even changed her wine glass to one easier for her to hold.
Salmon was delicious and our coffees and cake lovely.
The view over the golf course are pretty good too.
I’ve been holding business events here for over 12 months and the standard of service is brilliant. Whether it’s a group of 5 or 50, the staff make sure we have everything we need and go above and beyond to make our clients feel welcome.
The finger food is delicious with last night mini burgers and vegetarian arachini balls. The waiter is discreet as he takes drink orders during the presentation.
If I have an IT issue, there is always someone to help.
Lucky Setunga who rubs the evens is an absolute star. Can’t talk highly enough of how she’s assisted in the success of our events.
Note there is good underground parking which you have to pay for but also off street parking with one hour limits during business hours.
If our clients want to chill out before or after the lounge with large screen and bar and pool table is a good place to start.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly.
A must visit for events.
Staff were inattentive and blatantly rude.
One waitress in particular looked at me with pure hostility as I was carrying a bottle of coke with me and said rather crudely, “You won’t be having that in here.” This being said with no signs or implications in the cafe that outside food/drinks were not allowed.
On the way out it was quite clear the waitress was talking about me behind the counter and was glaring at me on the way out.
Entirely impudent and disgusting behaviour.
Arukuhito
Absolutely disgusted with the way the female manager speaks to her younger staff.
The young waitresses are lovely and feel sorry that they don't have someone nicer in charge of overseeing their duties.
Liz Armstrong
Went here for lunch and ordered the lamb salad special. Found it really disappointing. It came with about 2 cups of cold lentils and a handful of rocket and barely noticeable lamb. Was so disappointed as I came here about a year ago and had a delicious breakfast.
Worst thing was...when the waitress asked how our meal was, I told her I was not very happy with it and she said "oh ok" and walked off. Felt jibbed and not heard.
It's so simple to be friendly and offer a refund or something else in return because now I feel disgruntled and don't want to return. I was also starving hungry!
Eat at this restaurant regularly. Best coffee in Eastern suburbs. Enjoyed breakfast today I had Mr Fox Vegie Patch which was corn fritter on the top 2 beautifully poached eggs and on the side smashed avacado, one large mushroom, half a roma tomato and spinach all cooked to perfection. My husband had Not quite Benedict which was two poached eggs on a bed of pulled pork underneath two slices of sour dough and topped with bacon bits and hollandaise sauce..... both beautiful meals and thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend.
Great setting amongst the golf course with lots of great breakfast and lunch options... especially the daily specials! Beware of the pesty wasps if dining outside ;)
Awesome coffee and delicious brunch. It is always very busy on weekends. I usually order the 'quick brown fox'. Hubby loves their steak sandwich.
We rolled up on a Sunday morning, around 9.00am ish, and the main dining area was abuzz. Thankfully there is an overflow area known as the 'Sunroom', which was at that point empty - perfect for those who find lots of background noise a challenge. We were very happy being in this space as the only table, and in the end one of just three tables. We still had a great view, and in spite of being slightly out the way, were not neglected.
Started with drinks, the coffee was 'good' - with eyebrows raised - which I think translates to being very good. Iced chocolate - really more dessert than drink was also deemed one of the better ones by our resident iced-chocolate expert. The strong-coffee mocha was equally well-received, the hot chocolate 'really good' and I enjoyed my chai latte at perfect drinking temperature.
I am not a golfer, I was fascinated by the preparation some golfers go through to get out on the course - it looked fun though not quite fun enough for me to want to get out there, but The Lovely Man and kidlets all decided they would come back for a round.
Meanwhile breakfast awaited. Knocking off the negatives first, The Lovely Man chose 'Bigger than a fox, almost wolfish' breakfast, which consisted of fried eggs, bacon, ‘mister fox’ baked beans, chipolata sausages (2), McDonalds hash brown, chili jam, toasted sourdough. His chipolata's were cold, though otherwise had good flavour, and for his taste the sauce for the baked beans, while delightfully smokey were a bit too tomatoey. My 'Fox in the veggie patch' was great, perfectly poached eggs, a good avocado and feta (though unfortunately a couple of large chunks of too-hard [under-ripe?] bits of avocado), great spinach, wilted well and with great seasoning, a just-right mushroom, would have loved two, and a corn fritter that's almost too sweet. I am told the smoked salmon was delicious, and the lemon 'cheek' was a welcome addition. Hash browns were well-cooked and as well-seasoned.
Overall, a pleasing breakfast - I felt very satisfied with my choice - it's always nice to think you chose well, though there were a couple of other temptations for future reference.
Service was friendly, the main dining area gets pretty loud when full.
Hit and miss. The food and staff are lovely, but the coffee on the other hand is terrible. If a cafe can't make a good coffee something is wrong. Given it numerous tries but won't be returning again.
Simon
Nice golf club view ! However coffee not up to average , food is on average.Too busy at Sunday, I believe they are short staffs , i stood in front of the front door more than 5 min , but no on served. But staffs is friendly, i appreciate that.
Lovely atmosphere looking over Ringwood golf course, large menu with several gluten free options. The staff are lovely and the coffee is good too.
Loz Arthur
Nice cafe overlooking the golf course and buzzing with mostly golfers. The staff were absolutely lovely and the decor was great but the food sadly underwhelming. I ordered a chai latte and the veggie patch without the egg. The chai latte was nice enough and whilst the veggie patch tasted ok it was missing that something special. The presentation of the dish should be the first improvement. All the selections were just piled onto the plate with no garnish and even a hint of effort. The corn fritters were nice and mixed well with the smashed avocado but the mushroom and wilted spinach were out of place. Overall the food was fine but at the prices they are charging they need to up their game. The menu does look good though so I'll be heading back to try them again, hopefully with better results.
What a gorgeous place to spend your Sunday amongst the golf fields with a delicious feed & good company.
A friend recommended Mister Fox to me & I couldn't be more thrilled that I visited this local gem. The menu had a lot of options to suit everyone's taste buds (especially one fussy boyfriend). I went for the breakfast bowl and oh boy, was it good. It came with thick chunks of bacon, avocado, a poachie, corn, quinoa and other goodies. I loved every bite of it & I also give them so much credit for such a unique breakfast option. Also, the coffee was beautiful!
Definitely give this cafe a go- even if it's just for a coffee and the scenery :)
The food is great value and there is a great breakfast menu and a great variety of wraps and sandwiches to choose from. The "For Fox Sake" salad pictured below is definitely recommend. Alcohol is available, probably more to cater for those having one of two after a round of golf. The cafe would otherwise be more than capable of standing on its own without with great coffee and a good range of dessert cakes to sample too.
This lovely cafe is hidden inside a golf course. It is really nicely decorated and the food is really yummy. The only downside is they over toast their rolls and sandwiches, making them really burnt, however the fillings are really yummy, especially the mozzarella kale sandwich melt in the mouth. Hopefully when I visit next time, they can go gentle with their toaster!
Hungry Polar
Who wouldn't love a nice cafe overlooking a golf course. The greens of the lawns just bring peace to your eyes during lunchtime. Hubs had the big breakkie and I had the Vegie patch. Both were delightful and coffees were great. Will definitely come back here again!
Very disappointing
Food and coffee were okay.
No atmosphere and decor is very sad just looks like a temporary add on that no one cares about.
It's ok for the golfers etc but not teally a cafe as such.
Staff to busy standing talking behind the counter to each other or about customers to do the job properly. We ordered a second coffee which never turned up.
Won't be going back there are plenty of better places to go around the area
Mrs.Mielcz
Dear Mister Fox, your Fox in the veggie patch( which has a corn fritter that looks like a pancake but taste like nothing ) was very disappointing. I looked at it and welcomed it in my tummy but cried in tears when I realised that my white pages in my book tasted better.
The staff were friendly and the view from the large window give a beautiful feel to the place.
Barley And Hops
Came here for brunch. The staff were friendly but slow with long waits between visits and then nothing once you've been served. The food was good, the beer list is good but the atmosphere is pretty terrible. The floor and tables were dirty and it's ambience is more like a cafeteria than a nice cafe which is a shame as they have so much potential with their views. Won't be back anytime soon. On a side note that's not really relevant everyone in the cafe was really weird , not sure if that's a golf person thing or not?
Mister Fox is an average dining experience. It's all day breakfast menu may sound appetising, but the dishes just seem to lack the feeling that they were made FOR you, but instead just simply put together and served.
The "almost wolfish" meal was filling, yes, but basic to say the least. The best part about the dish is the chilli jam, which was actually quite amazing. I'd buy it by the jar, in fact.
My partner had the porridge, which came with chai powder and frothed milk to add, however the porridge was already overly watery, which just didn't work.
The cappuccino was 2.5/5 and the chai latte was a 3/5. Both dishes and drinks cost just under $40, which is reasonable, but I won't be raving about nor going back to Mister Fox anytime soon.
My partner and one of our good friends dropped into to Mister Fox for a late brunch last Sunday. Mister Fox is situated only minutes from our house, so the convenience in addition to the favorable reviews persuaded us to try it out.
We arrived at approximately 12:30pm, and were greeted immediately by a waitress that informed us that we may sit wherever we liked, but had to vacate the premises before 2pm as they had a private function booked. We were not fussed by this, however for the guests that followed an hour after us wanting to casually enjoy their food, I did feel sorry for the sudden rush put upon them.
Despite having made a rushed decision from the menu we were all quite pleased with our meals. Both my partner and his friend ordered the 'Bigger Than a Fox, Almost Wolfish' which proved to be enough to satisfy any man's hunger. The dish consisted of Fried Eggs, Bacon, Baked Beans, Chipolata Sausages, a Hash Brown and Chilli Jam on Sourdough Toast. Not feeling like breakfast, I went for one of the Specials of the Day, an Angus Beef Burger on a Brioche Bun served with Thick Cut Chips. I enjoyed every morsel of my dish, especially the beef patty which tasted very country-style, just like my mother used to make. A very comforting dish in both carbs and homey-ness.
On a warm afternoon Mister Fox is perfectly situated overlooking the green golf course, however seating is limited so bookings may be preferred.
The Brunch Club
The first time I came here the meal was awesome. The second time i went it was quite average. Same dish though?. Stingy on the fetta and avo..coffee is good. Vibe is good. Staff were lovely.
Disastrous meal unfortunately. We ordered the Fox in a veggie patch with bacon and the wet behind the ears with hash browns and our poached eggs came out pretty much hard boiled and they forgot the polenta and zucchini cakes on the other dish. My partner sent his eggs back, of course, but they took at least 15mins before we got the dish back so I was almost half done with mine. Flavors were ok, but not special enough to compensate for these mistakes, the smashed avocados tasted really odd and the corn fritters were far too thick and soggy. At least the polenta cakes were quick to come out otherwise they wouldn't have been worth a wait.
UPDATE: We were a party of three came in for brunch again today and a bit dissapointed with the service. As soon as we came in, the blonde waitress told us there were no table available except the edge of the big table near the entrance, where the wind breezed every time the door was opened. I was about to leave (considering it was raining and 19C outside, I'm 39wks preggo and I've got a toddler).
There was a table next to the window with no reserved note on it so I asked the waitress if she could check if we could have that table. The waitress immediately said no. I was quite grumpy by now and hungry so we just had to take the whatever spot they gave us.
A minute later, another party of three (also with no reservation placed) got in and immediately seated on THAT table that I requested! I really don't know what's going on but I am seriously offended and dissapointed! Food is still yummy though.
---------------------------
Yummy yummy brunch food here. Very kids friendly - I think babycino is only $1 so a great place to meet other mums. Great coffee too. Afterwards the kids can borrow toy golf and play golf at the front lawn. I ordered ooh foxy lady - the poached egg was just perfect paired with the tanginess of the lemon. it had the crunch element from the almond; it was yum! They also provide a throw for those sitting outside.
What a lovely place. Have twice had a large group lunch here and have been happy with food (freshness, varied options, pricing), the unobtrusive but friendly service, the encouragement to stay as long as you like, and the view and spectacle of locals teeing off. A good place for a weekend lunch.
Luke And Hannah
An average brunch place with a great view of the golf course. We're ordered the big breakfast, salmon and egg, wedges, and caramel milkshake. The big breakfast was good but none of the ingredients was memorable. Same with the salmon dish. The wedges were okay with a few of them being undercook. The camarel milkshake tasted nothing like caramel but rather vanilla. Highlight of the place was the great view of the golf course.
I'm sort of sitting in the middle of 2.5 and 3....
ANYWHO, THE VIEW IS AMAZING AS IT IS ON A GOLF COURSE, PROBABLY THE BIGGEST REASON I CAME BACK.
Customer service is a big thing for me, and maybe for many out there. It was a bit under average at this cafe though. It wasn't because the staff were rude, but they weren't the most polite and seemed as they didn't care about us at all and this was when there weren't many people dining in.
First time I came here was for valentines day and I tried the prettiest thing on the menu from what I've seen on instagram HAHAHHA it was just a smoothie though, no unique presentation, just simple. I reckon the colour stood out for me though, a nice purple from the berries. The cronut was the first one I've ever tried, though it didn't satisfy. But that's probably because I somehow had high expectations for all cronuts... The wedges were on point, nice and crispy and the only down side was that there probably wasn't enough sauce served with the big serving. Then again, we couldn't even finish it heheh. The milkshake on the other hand was apparently really good as my boyfriend got 2.
The second time I came here, I was soooo upset. The food took so long to be served for average food and there weren't even many customers! Sure, it took a while for food to be served the first time I came, but I expected that since the cafe was 100% full. This time, the food was really greasy and lacked in flavour for ALL elements. The heap of smashed avo was just plain, the poached eggs was over cooked that no yolk leaked out (might as well have been a boiled egg with vinegar). And the corn fritters left a floury after taste on the tongue. Not at all pleasing.
Absolutely beautiful place!! We had the most lovely view of the golf course and were given blankets cos it was a bit cold. The service was wonderful and our food was delicious nothing to complain about! Loved it!
Rhiannon Huff
Best cafe out in the East. The breakfast salad and farro porridge are so hearty and scrumptious, so too is the chai latte. And the prices are so reasonable! The waitstaff are very attentive (I was even offered honey with my tea when I had a bit of a cold). Mister Fox is giving the inner suburbs venues a run for their money
කෑම ලෑස්තියි (Food Is Ready)
I ordered 'wet behind the ears' which was good, eggs perfectly poached and the beetroot pickle added nice flavour to salmon and humus. It's a lovely cafe but the staff was very unfriendly. The girl who took my order didn't even ask if I wanted anything to drink!! That's a basic question I think. I sat at a table which was not cleared off the previous guests' plates, and the girl who cleared the table didn't even smile or say anything. I felt it odd that staff were so unfriendly
Mister fox has a great location with great view of the golf course! Great spot for brunch, family friendly, loads of parking, lots of space for kids, great menu with reasonable prices. All in all this place is a great brunch local for the fam!! We have been here many times and will keep coming back. The only con is that coffee is average, wish they would use nicer beans and better milk (not Coles).
Mr Killer
Early tip. Get a table by the window. The views down through the golf course are superb. My only complaint is the breakfast was so substantial I could hardly finish it!! Saved me money on lunch at least. Superb coffee. Great service. Ticked all the boxes. Thank you Mr Fox.
Ali Moxham
Was pleasantly surprised at what this this golf course café provided. Great breakfast menu, beautiful views over the golf course and delicious food. Had the vegie patch with the addition of bacon and homemade baked beans. Only let down was the corn fitter was more scone like than fitter. Was a largish serving so took me through to mid afternoon before i was hungry again. Looking forward to going back again and trying out more of the menu.
Reiijoce
Am so glad I went for lunch at this unassuming wonderful spot.It gets a bit rowdy with all the golfers enjoying their cuppa but the food is excellent and service prompt.Good latte,fabulous For Fox Sake. Go try it and find out what I'm talking about.Will be back!
Food Expert Puru
We had a variety of dishes including the big breakfast with fried eggs on sour dough, bacon ,hash brown ,sausage and baked beans...i would rate this as average. Toasted Chicken sandwich was good but what stood out the most was crispy noodles salad. My only disappointment with this place was they dont serve egg benedict. Ambience of this cafe is enriched because of the green lawns. On a sunny day in winters to eat sitting by side of golf course this good food tastes better.
Mister Fox is nestled at the edge of the Ringwood Golf Club, with views looking out onto the expansive rolling greens.
Great local cafe that I've now finally been to! Delicious long mac and the beef burger was sensational. Pickle overload - just the way I like it. Patty was perfection. Lovely service too. Will definitely be back.
Cassiemurchie
Awesome cafe, great food. I went for a long lunch with a friend only fault I could pick was after we are lunch we were still there chatting for another few hours and not one staff member approached us and asked if we would like more drinks or anything else! Poor service!
Lily
We had a great breakfast here the portion is huge and tastes really nice. the staff are friendly and the location is cute ... see you very soon again
Quite Rare ....
I've been too many golf courses in Victoria, even the highly acclaimed nearly impossible to get in Capital Golf Course and I still can't think any other golf courses that has a cool, hip and delicious looking cafe like the Royal & Very Ancient Ringwood Gold Course, which has improved a LOT!
On the Cafe .... their Soy Latte and Pineapple Ginger Muffin is a true testament of that, especially at $7 for both, $3.50 for the coffee.
No wonder the Cafe was full with golfers and other patrons.
We shall come back for the Breakfast/Lunch Menu.
Well done!
PS. before I'll get in trouble with Lloyd Williams and the Manager Ishan, Capital Golf Course has a mean Steak Sandwich which I always order, great wines and 5 star super service :-)
GoodFood4Me
Enjoyed my birthday lunch in Jan here with my family after my daughter recommended it. Although our first experience was great our return visit in early Feb was very disappointing. The Greek Lamb Salad returned to the kitchen and we both felt sick for over a day afterwards.
Lovely atmosphere overlooking the golf course though.
Loulou
Pretty view with enjoyable food.
The atmosphere and decor of the venue was cute and rustic, with views out onto the local golf course. I have come here many times and never been disappointed from enjoying a big breakfast with eggs cooked to perfection, to (as pictured) a breakfast smoothie), meal sizes are large and filling.
Will be back !
Sophie
Came here with friends and so glad I did. The burgers are amazing and the chips so crispy I ordered more. Staff are great will definitely make the efforts to come back
Mister Fox in Ringwood is perched atop the tenth at Ringwood Golf Course with fantastic full length windows to let you really enjoy what the view has to offer. So far as dining in Ringwood goes, this is a pretty sweet view.
Found Mister Fox whilst googling Ringwood lunch places and alas found this place! So their chips are crispy and delish, the burgers have a special sauce that is delish and the buns look like they are made with house with a golf put through it thought that was a cute way to tie in the golf course with the meal haha I ordered the parma which was GINORMOUS... it didn't look that appetising it tasted okay but nothing amazing it was wasn't frozen chicken so that was a plus but it was laid on top of my chips making the chips soggy not something customers will like... the other downside was the Kellys cider on the menu was out of stock.. not cool.. and the Monteith crush pear cider wasn't very nice at all tasted watery if anything.. otherwise watching the golfers as entertainment as you eat your meal was great for ambience i recommend eating outside :)
Yesterday, we hit up Mister Fox in Ringwood for brunch before going on a Costco run. It's not often that we travel north so I thought it was a good chance to try out some local cafés!. Twenty minutes or so in, we found the place nestled within the Ringwood golf course and my, even though it was gloomy and drizzling, I was excited at the thought of dining at a place with such a green and majestic view.
Nice place tohave a morning brunch date with my wife. Staff were attentive and professional. Food was nice. Price was reflective of surrounds, food and service. Not a budget option, however a nice place to try for a quiet time together in the mid morning.
I had the absolute pleasure of stumbling upon this location with a group of friends yesterday (27/09/15). Hidden away at the Ringwood Golf Club, this sublime cafe bar was absolutely fantastic. The decor of the venue was great. The signage, that looks like the work of a veteran craftsman, greets you warmly upon entry and creates a welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly and bubbly and are more than happy to accommodate your needs. The food is some of the best food I have had in recent times. Cooked and presented well. Simply a great location to go for a meal and a drink. Highly recommended for a relaxing time pre-golf, post-golf or even just for a day out! Well worth the trip! 5 stars!
Yesterday I have the wonderful pleasure of visiting Mister Fox which is located in Ringwood. I had not heard of Mister Fox before and that could be because it is hidden nestled alongside the Ringwood golf course. After reading other reviews on Zomato it seemed inevitable that I go and visit. Walking up to the Cafe I was greeted with the cheeky Mr Fox logo and the beautiful golf courses to the side. It felt very country and a little bit fancy. Inside the cafe the country golf lodge feel continued with it’s rustic interior, the effect of paint washed brick walls and warm colours with a pop of aqua made the place seem cozy and made me feel like I was on a holiday!
Absolutely loved Mr Fox. Just around the corner from home and very well priced. We were served very quickly and food dos not take long at all. I got the Nutella ice cream sandwich, which was AMAZING!!! I generally love sweet things and Nutella so this was definitely my style. I will be back again and again and I can't wait to try the cakes!
Have eaten lunch here twice in the last week. Loved the food and staff. It was noisy and 2 people left because they couldn't hear each other. That wouldn' t put me off. Lovely view of the golf course
Never noticed this place existed, it's near a golf course and the view's quite nice from where you eat. Offers a variety of breakfast, sandwiches and coffee, so your cafe style type food. Ordered the Crispy Bacon with avocado, feta and spinach on a baguette, pumpkin soup, wedges with sweet chilli and sour cream, a steak sandwich and a organic lemon lime and bitters, they've also got a specials menu which isn't shown in their regular menu. The food was great, crispy bacon cooked nicely, pumpkin soup, very flavorsome, the wedges, potato was nice and fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. Lemon Lime and Bitters from the bottle was nice, Service was great, price wise, reasonable for what you get, nice range of a breakfast menu and other types of food, definitely will come back for breakfast
I like the food here - lunch in particular is fresh, tasty and well-priced. We like that it has a good variety of food that caters for varying dietary requirements - makes it a good choice for our family with a number of dietary issues. Service is inconsistent - some days it's great, other days we are waiting for ages. Coffee and cake selection are good.
Has potential. Coffee is fine, service is friendly but slow. Food is fine but uninspiring.
Lovely cafe. We had a very tasty lunch. The food is adequately innovative, staff are friendly and helpful, and the view over the golf course makes for a pleasant escape from the urban grind.
And the gluten-free bread is to die for.
Cute yum and cheap... Had delicious salad and my partner had the quiche (half for lunch half for dinner that night) all the food was amazing and fresh,mains for $14.00 ... All while over looking the golf corse and herb garden ... Just a really inviting feel and friendly staff... And will be coming back for the coffee !!
Mister Fox - Brilliant. Mister Fox is a great place for breakfast, lunch or a nice coffee. The menu and food is absolutely not what you would expect at a golf course - it is delicious, fresh and tasty and at very reasonable prices.
The set-up is good with amazing freshly baked sweets on display which my daughter insisted on buying a selection and taking home with us. The staff are young and friendly and I did notice a great range of beers in the fridge.
Highly recommended!
Golf Heaven. Found this place after I finished golf - sign on back of hole said TREAT YOURSELF AT MISTER FOX. We walked in expecting overpriced old man beers. Wow. Huge selection of local craft beers - Cavalier, Coldstream, 3Ravens their stubbies for 6 bucks! Ringwood is now our new favourite golf course. Didn't eat but menu looked good and bloody cheap.
I can't believe this is a golf cafe. Even more unbelievable is its in Ringwood, ha! Love the foxy stuff everywhere, great local spot. It took a little bit to find, but well worth it. RSL prices too. Go Ringwood!
The fantastic Mister Fox!!!. It's funny reading the reviews on this place. I typically don't because they're likely fabricated or jealous competitors, but this place is fantastic and my kids love it! I walked in on Sunday morning and there were people everywhere, basketball teams, golfers, families, trendy types! The staff were clearly busy (another surprise being 11am Sunday morning!) but really helpful and efficient. This place is clearly aimed at golfers (funny that sitting on a golf course!) - but it seems non golfing types have discovered this place too and the staff don't seem to mind. My kids play basketball in the stadium that shares the carpark and ALL the parents walk across for coffee and sandwiches (yes ALL!). The food is simple but is exactly what their target customers want (thats ME!). This place is sooooo cheap and cheerful, don't change a thing Mister Fox!
Quick brown fox? Slow brown fox I'd say.. After reading some positive reviews, I decided to visit this cafe for a Saturday brunch. It looked good from the outside, nicely decorated with foxes ornaments plus a good view to the gold course - I thought this would be an enjoyable brunch. However, the service and food were rather disappointing. The waiter didn't seem to know what was the specials for the day - which it's fine, but I don't think it's nice to tell your customers (who are sitting outside) that the specials were written on chalk board and go see for yourself. Then it took about 20-25 minutes for two normal brunch dishes to come. The corn fritter was floury and also had some plastic wrap-like material on it. The housemade baked beans was just average. Sorry but won't be returning.
Slow service, inedible food. Waited over half an hr for some pretty simple menu items - cheese toastie, quiche that was already made (in display cabinet) and corn fritters. Cheese toastie was bland and barely toasted. Corn fritters were floury and tasted like they'd been sitting around somewhere for hours. Quiche was completely inedible - don't know what recipe they used but it was the worst quiche I've ever tasted. No apologies for the slow service. Coffee was horrible too, milky and lukewarm. Only good items were food that didn't require cooking, I.e. salad and smashed avocado!
Really disappointing. Looking forward to a 91% rated cafe experience but was treated to a badly serviced (food took too long to come out) and when the food arrived, it was poorly cooked (soggy toasties, quiche that was too moist and overly floury corn fritters. Coffee was not the best either. Disappointing.
Back again!. After an interstate trip, I find myself rushing back to Mister Fox for a delicious breakfast! This morning indulging in the tasty (and healthy!) farro porridge with chai milk and fruit. The view here is great - both inside and out - service always friendly and the food always tasty and filling. The difficult part is having to choose from the scrumptious menu. As always, the staff were very tolerant and friendly, my porridge was perfection - ensuring a great start to a busy day. Will definitely be back ..... and bringing friends. YUM!
Disappointed in the food. Had breakfast here today after the kids recommended it and heard much about it. Finally somewhere in a Ringwood to get a decent breaks I though! Had the veggie option eggs were grossly uncooked thought I had one egg but found the remains of a second and the corn fritter tasted like flour. Wouldn't go back. Service was ok but he breakup was long in coming. Don't be duped much overrated.
Better local cafes. Tried this place out on Sunday, customer service was quite slow to start - had to go in to get a menu. Brekky was nice but nothing to rave about, I had the 'Fox in the Veggie patch'. My poached eggs were rubbery and not a lot of flavour in the corn fritter which is more like a muffin. Shame, because it's a great looking little place with nice views of the golf course. Wouldn't come back again.
Perfect. We've had breakfast 3 times at Mister Fox and each time it has just been perfect. Food is awesome, Staff are super friendly and efficient and it has a great quirky atmosphere. I think it's rare you get great service, great food and great staff all at the one place, but I'm so glad we've found a place that has! Love it and will be returning again very soon. I highly recommend trying this place out if you haven't already! Great job Mister Fox!
Would like to say that the breakfast dish I had was the most amazing breakfast ever.
Love going there as its so close to home and so friendly.
Top notch. Just came back from breakfast at mister fox. firstly, the view was amazing, a lush green gold course is the perfect setting. inside the venue was toasty and comfortable with the decor being tasteful and quirky with a somewhat rustic feel. The wait staff were friendly and fantastic. breakfast was very reasonably priced, however the poached eggs were not as good as I have had at other places, and the serving size was not big, but it was just enough for me,
I will definitely be returning to this place and reccomending it to friends, next time I will be trying their granola! it looks delicious.
Great breakfast, lunch menu with nice coffee and good choice of local beer, plus wine available, pleasant outlook and helpful staff - great addition to the outer east
Love it. I've had coffee here a few times - excellent..
Last Friday I had lunch with a friend, it was very busy but the staff went out of their way with a smile and great service - and the food was lovely.
Going back next weekend...fabulous for the area
Richmond style breakfast at Ringwood prices!
Really impressed. Staff were friendly and appropriately attentive. Coffee was top notch and menu bang on. Would definitely recommend it.
Great view and enjoyable atmosphere. Only ordered a light meal and all ok. No water though to table?
Nice to have an eat with the added bonus of watching people tee off
Soraya. Had brekky there today and morning tea last week. Beautiful hot superb coffee, amazing baked beans ! Lovely friendly staff. Happy with food & service. Will definitely be back Mister Fox !!
We left very unsatisfied!
Panini looked like a squashed toasted sandwhich with uncooked bacon and chutney that tasted like white crow tomato sauce.
And the "dirty hash brown" was something that I could have picked up in maccas drive through. I expected something more rustic and homemade with that kind of description.
Sorry, but just abit dissapointed considering the other reviews.
Didn't know what a piccolo was and the coffee came out far too hot. Tasted burnt.
Great food. Watch the golf from the cafe, what a view, and what lovely food. Sweet potato and caramelised onion quiche is a winner.
Burnt coffee, muffin not fudge barely any chocolate in it.
My favourite place! Amazing coffee - I cannot say I have found anywhere in England that compares. There is something on the menu for everyone and the prices are more than reasonable. I honestly cannot fault this place at all. I highly reccomed Mister Fox!
