Review Block 7 Dumplings - Ringwood

Choc Pudding
I was here 4 years ago and wasn’t too impressed last time, found the roast pork skin wasn’t crispy. Decided to come back as a friend kept saying this place is so good. Went again recently and disappointed again. Had their spicy pork ribs which was bland for me, had much better ribs in other places. Also had stir fry seasonal veggies with tofu and that was really bland too, only the tofu was quite nice. Spicy and sour soup was really nice. Staff very attentive. Dishes sizes were quite big so even just two of us couldn’t finish two dishes. But the bill came to almost $40 per head so that was rather expensive lunch. Won’t come back again.

Nice and spacious dining area. Tasty food and comfortable seating. Xiao long Bao is juicy but the skin is too thick. Overall pleasant dining experience.

Decent Cantonese-Chinese style for a shopping centre. We enjoyed the stir fried beans and roast pork and bbq pork combination. Xiao long bao was nice but filling a bit bland. The roast meat was tender but cost $27 for a very small serve which was disappointing.

We had the dan dan noodles, the shredded duck fried noodles and Xiao long bao. The noodles could have been done a bit better and doesn't feel very authentic, think this place is more popular because of the excellent location and fast service. Ambience is also fantastic, perhaps my opinion will change if I try some of the other food.

Had dinner for two on a Saturday night, we were really craving dumplings so we ordered a variety of different dumplings. The servings were small, (6 dumplings in a serve) but dumplings themselves were small and very doughy. What filling was in the dumplings was OK, but nothing a good store bought packet of frozen dumplings couldn't produce. The restaurant is popular and the smell coming from other dishes was really appealing, but will not be heading back for dumplings anytime soon. Service was fast and efficent

We regularly plan "movie nights" just for another excuse to eat here! The food is stunning. All of it. Black pepper fillet steak, spicy salt and pepper calamari are our two favourites, incredibly tasty. Food arrives within 10mins, every time. Don't expect much chit-chat from the staff, and the self ordering system adds further speed to reducing the time from entering restaurant to gorging senseless. My bank account is thankful we don't live with their delivery zone! Would never have expected this level of food from a suburban shopping centre.

We sometimes try their “all you can eat” if we didn’t have our lunch . If I order from the menu , I feel that their price is more expensive comparing with the similar Chinese restaurant outside . Maybe they are located inside the shopping mall so their menu is a bid costly. Actually their food were not bad . Just a little oily . The best is 紅油炒手 which I highly recommended .

Nice staff and ambience. This end of Eastland near the cinemas is quite nice and the lighting is more dimmed than the rest of the centre. Xiao long bao could have been tastier, but everything else was great, and seeing them being made in the kitchen was really nice.

food was alright, some good, some not as expected. Service is average, could have been better. The let down is pricing is inconsistent, charges surcharges for card payment, gives discounts for cash payment. However when paying by part card part cash, they refused to give discounts for cash payment portion and yet charged surcharge for card payment portion. overall, its an average food experience, not something that i would fancy to come back for.

This is my favourite place to grab a meal,no matter what I’ve ordered it’s always fresh and tastes great especially the calamari and wantons in chilli.Keep up the great work

The meal is Chinese meal is best ever meal in Eastland.

I've never been so disappointed with noodles in my life. Fried BBQ Pork noodles tasted like some weird creamy slop. They didn't label the food so when it arrived everything looked the same and tasted the same so we didn't know whos food was whos. If you want some nice noodles, stay away I ended up chucking the whole thing in the bin.

What a gem of a restaurant. The food is delicious. We had the All You Can Eat lunch special and it was amazing. We will be back!

Had dinner last night , food and service top notch ... will surely return again.

First time here, had the $25 All You Can Eat, delicious and well worth the money!

So yummy, the dumplings are the best... the spicy squid is also amazing....

Great value. Loved the Peking duck and dumplings. All you can eat was awesome
Julie Johnston
really yum. We will definately be returning. Great food.

Had lunch there today. We tried the Shanghai pork dumplings, some pork/ chive dumplings, fried dumplings and spring rolls. I’m off fried things at the moment but I really enjoyed the steamed dumplings. No need to go to Box Hill for dumplings now.
Danielle Vertigan
A favourite stop for us! The food is always fresh and delicious!!!
Adrian Perry
Always quick, great service. Food is always yummy. Love it. 🙏

Great food.... discovered by accident, but will def return

Been eating here before and after lockdown. Roast duck and crispy pork is better quality than Box Hill and Springvale. Roast duck cooked perfectly and no bones!!! crispy pork, stays crispy and has less fat. Even take away tasted good after bringing it home, which other places failed to keep up with quality! I’m picky with asian roast meats, hands down this place is the best! The male manager/owner is friendly and professional too!

Friend suggested to come here for their $30 all you can eat lunch. For the price paid you can order anything from their a la carte menu (except lobster), over a two-hour sitting. I gotta say it’s a super amazing deal and well worth it. <br/><br/>We were originally going to order three rounds but was already super full after two rounds. Still devoured plenty of yummy food! Highly recommend the xiao long bao, har gow, roast duck and chicken pastry dim sum. For an additional $3 per person you can also have unlimited tea (comes in a pot with a cup each), and I do suggest drinking it as a palate cleanser. At the end we had the green tea ice cream which was nice and creamy.

We came for the buffet lunch on a Saturday. Service was really quick and the food quality was quite good, not mind-blowing obviously but really great value for $34pp. Diced beef fillet in Cantonese sauce and the Peking duck were the stand out dishes for me.
The Budget Luncher
Surprisingly great place to dine for a family with young kids (babies). Spacious and relatively quite vs the food court next door. Food was excellent and portions were substantial, service was also very friendly considering it is a Chinese restaurant. The roast pork was a standout, crispy crackling and succulent moist and fatty meat, just the way I like it. Staff changed our order to the all you can eat $34/pp special once we had exceed this ordering a la carte - what a pleasant surprise! Already planning to come back.

This place is a lot more roomier than it looks from the outside. I was pretty surprised by the quality of dumplings we got here, everything tasted fresh and was juicy too

First time to this recently opened restaurant in Eastland shopping centre. <br/><br/>We chose the buffet style. All you can it. Except crayfish. We ordered from the menu and then we were told that crayfish was not included. That is fair enough. <br/><br/>We tried bit of everything and mostly they all pass the tastebud test with ease. Roasts pork and char Siu were good. Standard testing dishes of Cantonese beef, cashew nuts prawns, Kung bau chicken were quite good. Soft shell crabs and salt and pepper egg plants were very good. The serve sizes were excessively large for buffets. They could size the dishes according to the number of the eating party to save the environment. <br/><br/>Desserts were very nice and all seven of us doubly ordered. <br/><br/>The young guy serving us is very nice and friendly. <br/><br/>Overall the first impression is very good.

Located in Eastland, Block 7 Dumplings is a stunning restaurant serving moreish Chinese cuisine. Upon entering Block 7 Dumplings St Kilda, diners will be pleased by the restaurant’s chic ambience. Designed to capture a contemporary and communal feel, the expansive dining room is adorned with wood, splashes of colour and different textures for a stunning contrast.
Good Food Good Mood
We were invited to Block 7 last night and couldn’t believe the quality of the food considering it’s shopping centre location. There were literally 400 items on the menu and the service was impeccable. It was a world away from our original experience (which admittedly was over a year ago) and we were all really impressed.<br/><br/>We tried several traditional dishes and things I wouldn’t generally think to order including the chilli wonton, Peking duck, fish fillet in hot chilli oil, seafood combination in green curry and the fried string beans with minced chicken. Some of the dishes were quite spicy but with a fresh watermelon juice and the delicious pineapple fried rice it all balanced out really well.<br/><br/>Would definitely be returning for the lunch special, the dishes and service were of such a high caliber we really couldn’t fault it. The staff even helpfully packed up the leftovers and my mum pronounced it more enjoyable than Melbourne’s m renowned Red Spice Road which she had visited the week before. High praise indeed <br/><br/>Update <br/>We caught up with friends for dinner last night and decided to try Block 7 having heard they had a $30 all you can eat lunch special we figured we should give the dishes a test run. Unfortunately the food made me feel quite unwell and despite the nice atmosphere and friendly service we won’t be returning.<br/><br/>It’s one of those places where you fill out your order on the paper provided. I requested two serves of prawn dumplings being a bit fan but immediately regretted that when I bit into the first one. Each of them fell apart at the touch of a chopstick and the casing was not pleasant to eat.<br/><br/>The fried eggplant dish fared better although there was some inconsistency of cooking with some pieces a little rawer than others. I ended up eating all of that as I didn’t enjoy my chicken satay dish. This was quite spicy despite requesting mild on the form as was one of our other dishes. <br/><br/>The staff did review our forms before leaving the table so if it wasn’t possible to make the dishes less hot they should have said so. Aside from that the sauce was watery and the chicken didn’t taste like it was good quality. The noodle dish two others ordered was more of a soup and they were less than impressed with that. Overall quite unsatisfactory
Peter Gilbee
We really love the $35 all you can eat lunchtime special, basically full menu available too
Peter Clementson
Fast service, delicious dumplings.
Connie
Quite affordable dishes that were pretty tasty. We ordered a wide range of dishes including dumplings, soft shell crab, curry, eggplant and pork ribs. I thought the soft shell crab was nice but not really worth $15. Unfortunately the curry didn’t have much flavour either :( but the pork ribs were really nice.
Francis Chau
A few dishes were alright but the biggest disappointment came from the fried beancurd prawn rolls. This is the picture in the menu vs what we got. The prawn was almost nonexistent.
Rachael Fisher
This place has far more seating than it appears to from the outside. Conveniently located near Hoyts cinema in Eastland, it’s the perfect spot to have a good dinner before seeing a film. <br/><br/>As with most dumpling restaurants, the dishes are designed to be shared which has the positive of being able to trying a lot of things with a group of people but the negative of being quite expensive if it’s just two people. <br/><br/>The bok choy is always perfectly cooked in garlic sauce, chilli wontons have a smooth skin and are sitting in a delicious sauce, green beans with pork mince has a generous amount of mince (a bit $$$ for what it is) that is well spiced and the beef is always tender. <br/><br/>Only let down is that the pan fried or steamed dumplings can sometimes seem like that have been frozen before being cooked which makes the skin chewy and the filling quite watery.

Today.  Sat on Table 45.  11am.  Service was very very good whether it was busy or not.  Smiles all round from the waitresses.   First time here.  The food was amazing !!! Chive dumplings,  Prawn dumplings, Sui Mai just to name a few,  Peking noodles , Peking boneless duck ( oh my my ) .   Then the yummy yummy stuff,  " deep fried pork ribs,  deep fried egg plants ( heaven )     Desserts.   We had seconds on the " black sesame , green tea and vanilla ice creams ! "      Definitely coming back !!!!   ( Pace yourself with the food )

We came here for lunch on a Saturday and the place was packed. We ordered the hot and sour soup, XLB, chilli wantons, pan fried dumplings and bbq pork buns to share. The dumplings were pretty good and we enjoyed the food. Service was also attentive and efficient.
Tracey @ NoWongFood
Pretty much the only Chinese restaurant in Eastland Shopping Centre. Priced just above average for a casual dining restaurant but the quality of food is good. We only tried two of their dishes: Peking dry noodle, $15.60 and Deep Fried Homemade Bean Curd with Spicy salt, $14.80. The size of the Peking dry noodle was generous, there was enough meat and it tends towards a sweet sauce base. Cucumbers were sliced perfectly for every mouthful. Noodles were done well – Al dente without clumping together as we mixed it all. There was definitely enough sauce for the dry noodle.
BevLovesFood
Had dinner for two here. Love the ambience of the place, nice & spacious.. Staff was alright, the older lady was pretty friendly but there was a male younger staff that wasnt & seems confused, probably new.. Price is on the higher side for their portion but the quality is there so its reasonable.<br/><br/>Favourite dish was their Peking Dry Noodles! 👍🏻
Mr Boomba Jnr.
Block seven is my favourite place to get dumplings now, their food quality is amazing and their staff are really caring and polite another cool feature of block seven is the window showing were they make the dumplings. <br/>I would certainly recommend block seven!

3.5/5<br/><br/>Came here to try the $30 all you can eat lunch - meaning you can order as much as you can and whatever you wanted from the menu except for drinks and the lobster dish.<br/><br/>The menu is quite extensive from fried entrees to steamed dumplings, noodle soups, stir fried dishes etc. <br/><br/>We ordered the must try dumpling dishes, the XLB was plump and juicy, however the dough is a bit thick. Chilli wontons were more sweet and sour than actually being spicy, which was somewhat decent. Har gow was plump with filling, although it was overcooked and filling was too soft and disintegrated when biting into it. Peking duck was decent, BBQ pork bun was also decent. Seafood and spinach soup was quite bland which actually suited me. Other dishes that we ordered were all decent.<br/><br/>However the tables only have soy sauce without any labelling, generally dumpling restaurants would have both as vinegar is a must. The waiters took away the sauces while i was still using it, which is my only criticism from the waiting staff.<br/> <br/>This dumpling restaurant overall provides great value for $30 as it is all you can eat, coming with a group would be ideal so diners can order a larger range of dishes to sample. Yes, i would come again with a larger group to sample more dishes.

Fast service and I ordered the noodle as a take away. Need to go back again to get chopsticks. Spoon and a napkin as they were not included in my takeaway. <br/><br/>The food was ok, the duck was boneless. The soup was a bit flat with not much of umami.
Cindy
This place is fantastic, a couple of issues with customer service but I think sometimes this is due to things being lost in translation. A group of us dined in last week before a movie session and the service was quick. Dishes were large enough to be shared amongst 3 people. I wouldn’t rate the salt and pepper eggplant though. It lacked a lot of flavour but the sambal roast pork belly was definitely a fave. They also do all you can eat for lunch time for $30pp if you pay cash. Well worth it if you go with a group of people as you can then try a lot of the dishes on the menu including the soft shell crab and duck pancakes!
The Gastronomist
Food is average. Staff is rude which makes this joint a 1 ⭐️ rated outlet. Serving is small compared to counterparts at Highpoint. Roast pork and rice was dry - worst was the wet bowl. We were too hungry and we were met with a rude staff after we just ordered. We understand the no outside food policy, but we did not see it. What’s the use of telling us just after my daughter just finished the outside food. It’s as if she was not dining with us. Overall - I’ll take my business elsewhere and avoid this one.
Nini Foodie
We came here for the $30pp all you can eat lunch special where you can order anything off the menu except for the lobster tail. Between the two of us we ate $87 worth so it was a fantastic deal! Note that drinks are not included and any food left behind is charged at full price (so only order what you can eat!) <br/><br/>We enjoyed all our dishes but especially loved the string beans & minced pork, chilli wontons (not hot at all, quite a sweet and sour flavour), Peking duck pancakes and of course the XLB. I found the dishes to be good quality Chinese but I’m not sure I would pay full price - for the lunch deal I definitely recommend it.<br/><br/>I can see why others would be critical of the service as they are not very attentive and completely forgot my water, but to be honest unless they are overtly rude this doesn’t really bother me.

Came by here for a quick dumpling fix. <br/><br/>Ordered the XLB, pork and chive dumplings and BBQ pork noodle soup. <br/><br/>Dishes came out quick. XLB was hot, soupy and juicy on the inside. The pork and chive dumplings were a bit average - nothing outstanding. They weren’t hot but just warm when served. The BBQ pork noodle soup was good though but could taste the MSG in the soup and the BBQ pork was a bit chewy. <br/><br/>Would recommend putting vinegar on the table as only soy sauce is available. I was excited to eat my dumplings with vinegar as its commonly available at dumpling joints, but to my disappointment, it was soy sauce in the pot on the table (unlabelled). Both options should be available. <br/><br/>Would come again to try other dishes but would defs be back for the XLB as its nice for a local dumpling place.
Linnie Eats All The Food
Whenever I have Xiao Long Bao cravings I always head to Forest Hill. However, I found out that there’s a new dumpling place in Eastland that also serves XLB AND it’s closer to home. So I convinced (by convinced I kinda made him) Mr D to take me on a dumpling date. It’s located near the cinemas and right opposite to Gami and there were plenty of seats (I guess it’s because we went in midday in the middle of the week). The ordering process is so easy, there’s a clipboard on your table, you fill in what you want and BAM hand it over to the staff and they’ll bring the food out to you. So no required interaction at all.

I tried Block 7 Dumplings today. The dumplings are okay. I was disappointed that the Chili wontons were more sweet than spicy. There was a lack of sauce. The xiaolongbao was good. Lots of liquid and hot!
Espy Eats
We called into Block 7 Dumplings for a quick dumplings session ahead of a film at Eastland. Attentive service and fast delivery of said dumplings. We started with Chicken San Choi Bao and followed up with the Pork XLB dumplings with a flavoursome soup filling. The ginger prawn dumplings were a hit and we couldn’t go past the steamed egg custard bun either... a yummy way to finish<br/><br/>All up a quick and tasty dumpling fix. They have a lunchtime special for those a little hungrier than we were for all you can eat dumplings for $30.
Jae Lee
Quite a good place if you’re craving simple Chinese food in Eastland. The chilli dumplings were very tasty but the fried rice was rather bland. Service was very good as it was wasn’t busy when we dined. Our bill came to $80 for 2 without alcohol but we had a lot of leftovers to take home for another meal. It’s located right under the cinemas so it’s good for a pre-movie dinner.
DazP70
We tried this place for the first time last night and it was a bit underwhelming.  The dumplings were good and the pork not bad, but the san choi bao was bland, as was the prawn with cashew.  Also a tad pricey for what's really just a glorified food court offering.
Modfood
Average food, not spectacular. We had the peking noodles, deep fried bean curd with spicy salt nd xiao long bao. A bit disappointed in the xiao long bao as it looked like they were all stuck together when they arrived (which makes it even harder to pick them up, when you’re trying to keep the soup in!)
Clare
This place is not worth it. We had the Peking duck which was terrible, it was served in a bamboo steamer which means that any crispy duck skin is ruined and you are left with gelatinous chewy gross duck. We also had the chicken sang choi bow and the pork long xioa bow which were just ok. All up that little bit of food came to $60! Will not be returning again.
Simone
Pretty pleased with our meal. I had the bbq pork soup which was great, very authentic. I loved the fried chicken dim sim with the spicy mayo !! However, fried rice and chicken san choi bao was pretty standard and plain. Overall, happy with this place and ambience!

Really nice dumpling place in Eastland shopping Centre. Below the cinemas in the centre, is very well presented with lots of seating. Menus brought out and a pad with pencil when seated, each item is numbered and you write it down and give it to the waiter. Drinks delivered immediately, water is on the counter if needed, food came out quickly, well presented, fresh and hot. Service was excellent, to the point where the on sell to get you to buy more food became slightly annoying, also my beer bottle was picked up twice before I had finished it. Very nice ambience and good menu variety. Not a cheap eat, although not exorbitant either, about $70 for 2 beers and 5 share plates. Very nice place to go out for dinner.

Food: A somewhat variety of food to choose from, menu in both English and Chinese. Decide to have deep fried eggplant, fried wonton, juicy pork dumpling, chilli wonton and pineapple seafood fried rice. The deep fried eggplant was soggy and tasted rather bland. Fried wontons was ok, tasted normal but wished it was just more than fried wonton skins. Juicy pork dumpling was good. There was no problem when we asked the waiter to serve the wontons and the chilli sauce separate as some people on the table could not handle spice. I thought if you were going to advertise pineapple seafood fried rice, you were going to add more pineapple and seafood rather than having vegetables. Food wasn't really worth the price. <br/><br/>Service: Went around a little after lunch time. Waiters were kind and offered opinions and time explaining the $25 promotion. Waiters are quite considerate on providing us water as soon as we sat down. <br/><br/>Atmosphere and decor: A very spaced out area for dining, comfortable seats and beautiful view and decor. <br/><br/>Others: the cutlery sitting on the table looked quite dusty and probably require some cleaning <br/><br/>Overall: <br/><br/>Would probably not go again
#alwayshungry
We had the pork and chive dumplings which were absolutely delicious! Lots of flavour and the actual dumpling skin was thin. We also had the chicken laksa which was horrible. The chicken in it was extremely fatty and flavourless, neither me or my husband could eat it. It’s quite expensive for a place where you don’t get full table service- you write your own order and have to find a waiter to give it to and there’s no water or tea provided.

This afternoon me and my 2 boys had our lunch here , food was ok ! After lunch we straight back home , when we reached home 3 of us started to had a stomachache and diarrhoea. My youngest son got a very weak stomach, he diarrhoea non stop . Hope they keep the food , kitchen and staffs hand clean !

Was craving for simple chinese meal and it was the only choice after hours in Eastland. The place is big and nice, as you can see the kitchen. It was not a busy night but they have a lot of staff. In fact i feel like some of them were watching us eat (doesn’t bother me, but i guess it is rare that that happens). The foods were okay. The spicy pork ribs were not spicy at all. Obviously their spicy is very mild. It was quite nice. Their roast pork with chinese broccoli isnt bad, cooked well but the roast pork skin wasnt crispy :((( so sad as roast pork should be crispy. Anyway, so food is not bad, service and place are good, however it is expensive. For the portion we got, we could get more food somewhere else with same food quality.
Cheeseburger Anyone? "Where's The Sauce"?
First time at eastland... needed some dinner before a movie so picked block 7! I'm not going to lie,... it was expensive compared to any other dumpling/asian restaurant i have been too !! especially at a shopping center... but it was worth it! has to be some of the best tasting chicken san choy bao i have had. (just leave the sauce off that it comes with)... dumplings in chili oil were pretty good but the chili oil was strange.. sweet, sesame chilli taste but i liked it! prawn dumplings were delicious and full of fresh prawns and the fried calamari was salty, spicy and cooked well!<br/>only let down for me was the pan fried pork dumplings.. Not much flavour! overall a really great meal!

4 of us went to Block 7 Dumplings and 2 of us were interested in their $25 eat all you can promotion (my husband only likes one of their noodle dish and my mother can only eat certain food due to her medical condition). We were told everyone needs to be on the $25 deal as long as one of us is. So we decided to sit at 2 different tables and apparently that was not allowed either. The waiter didn’t even look at me when in conversation like a decent customer service. Reading 2.8 rated reviews from other customers, I know I won’t come back ever again.
Melbourne Food Monkeys
Block seven is definitely worth trying, especially when you know what to order.<br/><br/>Two best dishes are hands down the fried bean curd and pineapple seafood fried rice, both of which are approved by my elderly Asian grandma, one of the toughest food critics around. For those who like a bit of spice, the chili wontons are another great choice.<br/><br/>The atmosphere is exactly what you'd want, seats were comfortable, decor was beautiful, everything was very clean and can't find anything to fault about service.<br/><br/>
Jackie
Sour if the moment visit before seeing a movie.<br/>The chicken, vegetable and cashew nut and the roast duck with rice were very good.<br/>We looked at the dumplings, but they were fairly expensive for the number of dumpling you got, so of course didn’t order.<br/>As we were seeing a movie, the service was good and quick.
Debby
We walked in to try their meal and didn't expect that the place is so big! We ordered a few dishes and most of them are pretty average. The soup and spring roll are quite basic nothing special. The Peking noodle is great with a touch of black bean sauce. The star of the meal was the chilli oil dumplings. The sauce is a mix of soy sauce and vinegar, refreshing and tasty!
Lynn Ooi
Highlight: duck is BONELESS<br/>Fried rice was very nice albeit there's some slight inconsistency with the spiciness level since our last visit. Chili oil dumplings were divine, but the xiaolongbao's skin was too thick.
Leeroy
Wasn't bad. But considering prices are double any other dumpling house, you would want to have your flavours on point. Sadly they were bland and fell apart. Not a great meal. <br/>Polite and attentive staff.
Sav Max
Average food. Staff were okay. Some food were good, others okay. Had chilli won tons, pork belly, duck, laksa and rice. Chilli Won tons were hard and slightly cold inside.  Fly problem on our food, landed and walked around our pork belly, staff acknowledged but can't do anything or replace.  Transaction problems. Honestly a disappointment.
Michael Ong
I'll cut straight to the chase.<br/><br/>Dumplings: Dough was very chewy, Fillings were severely underseasoned. I could have made better tasting dumplings by myself at home <br/><br/>Duck rice: Duck was very dry and the bok choy looked very old<br/><br/>BBQ pork rice: Pork was very dry and old, bok Choy was old <br/><br/>Peking duck noodles: lacked any sort of seasoning, noodles were just not up to standard as they were dry and too doughy and the dish was missing Tofu that would have at least scored some brownie points if it was in there<br/><br/>Portion sizes was just not worth the price of any of the dishes as they were far too small. The BBQ Pork rice came with only 5 pieces of BBQ pork and it looked all squashed up in something a little bigger than a noodle soup bowl<br/><br/>Service was just plain rubbish, never came to the table to ask if we needed anything or even to refill the bottle of water. <br/><br/>
FOODLOVER
Ate here on a busy Saturday night...and was very impressed. Chinese broccoli with garlic was beautiful, and very well cooked with perfect amount of crunch. Vegi dumplings were good too however potentially a bit too pricy. The duck noodle soup was delicious and tasted very fresh. I also love the idea of an open kitchen as it means you can get an idea for how hygienic the place is prior to visit! Overall very pleased would return.
Julz
Consistently good rice and noodle dishes, and boneless chicken!!! Dumplings may be a bit overpriced and small portion, so not what I would order at here.
Burp
Mouth watering Dunplings and Wontons! One of my favourite place for Dumplings 🤗 Open kitchen, spacious and courteous staff. If you out there don’t forget to try chicken wontons, BEST in town!! Also tried Caio bao, something different than ordinary restaurants have to serve.
Mikki
I like block 7 kitchen in camberwell and have been hoping to try block 7 dumplings since I knew it’s opening in ringwood. With expectation I was very disappointed. Table/seats are way too small and smaller than food court area. Very uncomfortable. Food were taken away before hubby finishes it. Food quality - below average for those we’ve ordered. I’d like to give it another chance but really don’t like the environment!

I love dumplings so of course I couldn’t help but try a plate of dumplings at this new shop in Eastland. <br/>Three dumplings were good but the other three were inedible. <br/>Never had that experience before<br/>I hope it was a one off bad dish but I won’t be back
Coby
I was a bit unsure of the best way to approach this review – as if it’s a restaurant or as a food court location. It’s inwardly set up like a restaurant, yet there are apparently few places within. We, needed a table for five, so with two tables taken inside, we were popped outside the restaurant on the most ‘outside’ table – that is to say, on the main thoroughfare without any sort of barrier or partition between ourselves and passers by. other places do have some tables out the front of their places, but they have some sort of barrier to delineate between shoppers and diners. Given the place didn’t have many people at that time, I’d have liked to be given the option of one of the banquet seating areas that are back closer to the restaurant at least.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>Never mind. Here the method is akin to the yum cha style eating of placing a written order on a note pad, the number of the dish, how many serves and any notes applicable. While we decided on what we wanted some cutlery, chopsticks and thick paper napkins arrived at our table along with some lovely ceramic (yay not melamine) bowls. Choppies were quite thick versions.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>The food arrived quickly, and was hot and fresh. There was a stuff up with our fried rice – it was to be prawn and Chinese sausage but the sausage was AWOL, it was taken away with much discussion between wait staff and returned to us within ten minutes with lup chong making an appearance. It was not a bad dish, some of the carrots were a bit firm, but the flavour was inoffensive. I quite like fresh shredded lettuce on my rice, but it’s not for everyone, my partner pushes it aside. Speaking of vegetables the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce was great, a generous amount of oyster sauce, and perfectly cooked, one of the best dishes of the night. Sadly the Prawn and Ginger steamed dumplings were underwhelming. They were overworked and far too finely chopped, not enough ginger flavour, the sauce was gluggy. Not inedible but no beautiful zing of ginger or spring of prawn either, I’d not go back for this, which is usually one of my favourites. The Pan Fried Pork were, I am told similarly uninteresting. The squid, battered and deep fried was pretty good, a small to medium serve of various sized pieces. XLB were alright, barely any broth, but at least no boar taint. The vinegar dipping sauce was OK. Won ton soup was also ‘OK’, which in the end all becomes a big disappointment really. Chicken San Choy Bow seemed to be pleasing to our youngest, and BBQ pork buns were also above the average of the other dishes we tried that night. Sesame Prawn Toast tasted...ok, better with the sweet and sour sauce, though I had to ask for it, I thought sesame prawn toast always had a sauce.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>Would we eat there again? Possibly, nothing was outright bad, but it’s easy to find something better at Eastland – maybe even right next door. If you were hungry, you will be fed, I’d go the Chinese Broccoli with, perhaps the squid and bbq pork buns.
