Review Fortunate Son Cafe - Ringwood

This cozy cafe is definitely a hidden gem ! Great atmosphere with live music to enjoy my weekday brunch. Food are well-presented, filling and delicious. The cold brew is beautifully smooth and refreshing. Good location - you can find street-parking nearby. Friendly customer service. You can tell the food and drinks are made by the warm-hearted people. Highly recommended !

Food is topnotch! We ordered 2 of the best B.L.A.T. sandwiches this side of town, generous with the bacon, avo and tomatoes, and lathered with a delicious sauce. We were a bit disappointed after walking nearly an hour to get here because they aren't doing table service and are only offering the limited takeaway menu, something that should be advertised. However, you're free to sit with your takeaway at the tables set up inside the shop and outside. All this doesn't seem to be a problem; it was teeming with locals and numerous paramedics, obviously a favourite stop. As it is with the FSC team, it's always a comfort when baristas and servers are familiar with their clientele, their smiles obvious behind the masks.

Happened to visit this lovely cafe early morning when our Cricket training got affected by the wet weather and this visit definitely compensated for the missed sports today. - lovely staff - amazing coffee - enough car park lots in the front (note: well positioned for not disturbing the traffic on the Bedford road.) Will keep visiting this cafe whenever our Cricket gets cancelled due to the tricky weather, just to come out of the pain of missing the game.

Unexpected gem. Stumbled upon this unassuming, quiet cafe and was absolutely blown away by the quality and taste of the food. Menu is fairly small, but the execution is flawless.

full of loyalty customers - that's the first impression which proven this cafe to be one that is worth to visit again and aagain with good deals! my friend and I were dining on an early Sat, staffs are friendly, flexible and helpful, helped moved tables while considerating others' space. Ordered a siracha brekky burger with an oat cappuccino, both were delicious~ coffee bean tasted darkly roasted and the aroma is still through the sweetness of the oat milk. easy to park around the area with parking spaces on the side of the road or small sweets nearby, will come back~

Coffee was good, staff were. Accommodating in getting us an appropriate table out of the sun (the first table actually was unstable but we never mentioned that). Food was great, good flavours and our choices balanced between all parts of the palette. Would come here again in a pinch.

Good brunch spot, away from the hustle of Eastland. Food service was great, we like their rosti and polenta. Their staff accomodating and pleasant. It grew quite busy while we were eating, so a popular spot with the locals!

Great having a new local place to go, fantastic food and coffee and a really enthusiastic team who obviously love what they do. The lamb shanks we had were full of flavor, the best we have had anywhere. ïżœïżœ

Best coffee in the area by far, delicious food (and plenty of it!), relaxed atmosphere and the staff treat you like family-why go anywhere else!

Food has never disappointed me. Always delicious. Iced coffee is inconsistent, load that ice cream in. Sadly I base all cafes on the iced coffee ;) Staff and owner excellent and very helpful and always happy :)

This is my new favourite place!!! I'd recommend to anyone. Great coffee, amazing food and lovely staff!!!

Had the best peri peri chicken burger! Great staff, awesome food !!

food is always fantastic and the muffins are to die for.

I ordered 2 poached eggs on multigrain bread, and I assumed that I would get 2 slices of toast (1 for each egg) however all I received was 1 slice of toast cut in half for both eggs, and the toast was quite hard

Best chai I've tasted in awhile with real spices. Great customer service, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Even has a little outdoor setting round the back. A good discovery in the ringwood neighbourhood.

great to have this new cafe in our area! great coffee and food. (pancakes were gorgeous) and a great space to park your dogs as well

Hidden gem. Coffee was excellent and the food menu looked great with very reasonable prices.

Good food - Excellent coffee - Friendly service. Imperative to give these qualities in a comparative industry. Well done management and staff you've excelled in all.

Coffee was fantastic, food was fantastic, and the service was even better. Think we've found the new local.ïżœ

Great coffee. No, really. It even came exactly as I asked for it. Recommend it highly.

They serve the best coffee, food always right which is important for us as we are not easy customers, that’s why we become their regular customers.
I Love Food
Dined for breakfast, I ordered the free range eggs scrambled with multigrain sourdough & smoked tomato relish. Food was tasty. Drinks I had was freshly squeezed OJ which was good & a few of their prana chai which was made well also. Service was very slow & drinks took a long time to come out but otherwise service was friendly. Will return to try other menu items.

Excellent service, we were looked after quickly even though we were a big group and came in without a reservation. Food was excellent, my eggs on toast was done pretty well, orange juice was great. Good feedback from rest of the group too. Would visit again.

This cafe has offers a nice, cosy vibe. Decorated with plants and neutral colouring.
Most importantly, the coffee is quite decent.
The noise level is a little loud (for us quiet ones) but that is to be expected in a cosy surrounding with customers who appear to be regulars.

Great local cafe. Great owner, great staff - engaging with customers. Most importantly great coffee & food.
Am a regular on daily basis for all the above reasons 👍

can’t same the same for other local cafe owners in Ringwood/heathmont area.

17 minutes for a take away latte and a take away iced mocha. After seeing 2 other customers getting the t/a coffees (ordered after mine) I simply walked out in disgust. No coffee no mocha, no more of my cash!

A great local cafe! The staff are hospitable, friendly and active. The coffee is great, and this can be backed up by the amount of customers who kept coming through the door with their Keep Cups. The barista even knows every regular coffee drinker by name. Something that can be missing from this day and age. And did we mention food? Best pancakes going round according to the wife. Thanks chef! Food is fresh and pride is taken in each dish. Definitely worth a visit if passing through or a local. But it does get busy which is indeed lucky for somebody's Fortunate Son!

Won't be disappointed ...food was delicious and looked fantastic too... was a pleasant experience with a friendly atmosphere. Try the side treats too. ..fresh and top quality👍

Good environment, good food. Prices are not budget, however the food is very good. The staff were very nice, however the service was slow, especially for a half filled cafe.

I made it a weekly habit of coming here for breakfast with my mum (and sometimes sister) on the way to school; it has excellent food and the best damn iced coffee I can find - I am a strong critic with iced coffees, I just love them

Thought I'd try out this cafe before my hair appointment in the same strip. I've always liked how cosy this place looks from the outside. the staff were welcoming and cheerful and we were seated straight away.
I loved the presentation of the butcher muesli and the taste definitely didn't disappoint. My friend had the pomegranate chicken salad and I had some food envy. It looked so tasty and she polished it off.
If I could suggest some minor improvements it was that it was a little bit cold and every so often there would be this waft of smell that would move round the room which was a bit unpleasant. I don't think it was off food but just something that had a really strong odor. regardless, I would definitely come back!

photo says it all, great place with awesome food and staff. will return for sure. previous reviews say alittle overpriced though I disagree. plus it's great coffee!

I opted for the ‘Mixed Berry Pancakes – stack of buttermilk pancakes, with mixed berries, mint, vanilla ice-cream ($14.50)’. The pancakes had an unusual texture but were delicious with the plumpest and freshest berries I’ve tried at a cafĂ©.

We are a bit surprised with the low rating. 5/5 - Amazing food and amazing service. My husband and I went to this cafe and ordered the breakie burger, I had the berry pancakes and extra bacon. The bacon is to die for! Crunchy and cripsy. The portions were massive and the prices were extremely reasonable. Definitely will be coming back. Thank you!

Love Fortunate Son and drive past several other cafes for great coffee, food and service here.
Small and tucked away it’s staff are friendly with quick service. Breakfast burger is recommended.
There can sometimes be a lack of parking but you’ll usually find one close enough.

Great little local.
We really enjoyed our meal which was called Fortunate Breakfast.
Super tasty and looked good too.
The cafe was a bit noisy due to a very loud coffee machine or juicer but that's pretty normal these days and wouldn't stop me returning.
The Critical Barista
I came here today for lunch and had the middle eastern falafel - ohhh my god YUM. Falafel was crunchy and complimented perfectly by the grainy salad. Homemade hummus was on point. Definitely recommend this dish, extremely well priced at $15- I left very full without a drink or dessert. Good work guys 👍👍

UPDATE: store practices unethical/illegal wage theft. Will not return

Food is tasty and it's great to have another trendy cafe to add to the area. The menu is fairly interesting and the interior on point. The portions, however, could be more generous.

A great local cafe with the best coffee in the strip of shops for sure. Great food including take away options. Service is fantastic with friendly faces all round. A little expensive but happy to pay as it is great quality.

You don't have to be a Creedance Clearwater Revival fan to like this place. Coffee is good. Food - I have tried the falafel/humus dish and the lamb salad - good. Service inconsistent, like most cafes in Croydon/Ringwood area.
Denz
Great little spot, friendly staff and a really good breakfast (mushrooms and hollandaise so good). A little on the slow side, but they were sweet to the kids - definite plus. The Starbucks-esque coffee prices are bananas, though ($4.80 large, + 50c strong/soy). Fix that, and I'll be a regular.

There are a number of new cafes in the area opening up lately but this is easily our favorite now. Coffee is great and the food is just as good.

I'm surprised this place has not such good reviews. The food was excellent and the servings were generous. My only complaint was the food did take a while to come out.

A newish, swish, vibrant café in Ringwood East, providing competition for the respectable Brew House a few shops away. It is clearly already popular, as it was crowded on a Saturday morning, with loud people chatter swamping the rock classics playing in the background. The interior is modern and bright, with an off-white and black colour scheme, tasteful chunky timber tables, sturdy black chairs, planter boxes decorating the walls, and a polished and distressed concrete floor. There is courtyard out the back, kerbside tables, and a large glass facade offering street views. The menu was reasonably interesting, and included vegetarian items such as smashed avo and falafel. I had the truffled mushrooms, sans eggs and sans hollandaise sauce, which was not bad, but perhaps needing a little extra, such as sautéing with garlic or herbs. The coffee was very good. I found the service welcoming and attentive: I was brought water, and staff checked with me about aspects of my order to ensure satisfaction. The café has a good energetic vibe, and is bound to do well.

Great new place. Friendly staff, accommodating to picky eaters and yummy coffee. Visited with family who live locally and will definitely make the trip again. Accommodating to kids. Mediterranean Eggs the stand out dish.
