Review Cafe Emjay - Ringwood

So much love for Cafe Emjay. The staff are so so lovely, they go that extra mile for their customers. We have had brunch here and take away and I've tried a lot of their cakes. Everything is delightful.

Coffee is the best in Ringwood east, however not sure if it's changed owners recently as the service is very slow getting coffee and food out. Although always greeted by friendly staff.

Always so lovely to stop in for coffee and brekkie, staff are always cheerful and easy to chat to, and will remember you once you've been a few times. Great food and delicious coffee (mocha is always spot on). Thanks guys!

Great coffee, friendly staff. Smashed avo, best l've ever had. Beaky bites are sensational too. Well worth a visit, highly recommended A+

Excellent little café and conveniently placed!! The service was to a very high standard. The food itself is superb. Nice hot drinks including white hot chocolate and orange jaffa. Very clean here, would highly recommend for breakfast etc.

Great place to have a quiet breakfast and read a book. Good coffee and customer service.

Outdoor seating is nice. However, the lie that their banana bread is homemade when they just take the Coles brand banana bread out of its packaging and charge twice the amount earns this Cafe one star. Please replace the water bowl outside more frequently.

Wholesome food, served by super friendly staff.

The menu has changed and there is new owners here but all the staff are very friendly and experienced! Haven’t had an issue with the quality of food and drinks yet but there has been misunderstandings with a small language barrier when ordering.

wouldn’t even rate this place one star! horrible food, the worst customer service since the new owner has taken over. The new owner is in her own little world all the time. She uses her staff like there slaves and treats them so horrible they feel the need to leave. Coffee is horrible now since the main barista has left due to being treated like a slave.

Love this place! Always friendly service and the food is majority of times great. They do get very busy on certain days so it’s always good to book.

Wow, what a great cafe! Came here for their fantastic 'Malteser Hot-Choccy' that I saw on facebook and I was blown away. I came with my hubby and three kids and all of the staff where very polite to my children, one of my younger kids was obviously restless and without worry, the blonde barista brought over some toys and puzzles to keep her entertained while waiting for her baby chino and the rest of our drinks! 100% will come back again. 100% will be sharing this family loving cafe to the rest of my friends!

Was taken here for a Mother's Day breakfast & it was wonderful. Very cute Cafe, with nicely set out tables & lovely ambience. Staff were extremely attentive, yet not in your face. The coffees & my Chai latte were all delicious & hot! The food was served well within time & all were hot & yum. We were also given a rose for each Mum. All in all, great staff & food too.

I have been to this café perhaps three or four times, and so far it has failed to impress. Recently another café has opened down the road, which I think would be preferable. My main criticism is that the café seems to be run by inexperienced staff who have not been given much training in customer service. On my last visit I walked off, as they basically ignored me waiting at the counter. It was busy, but not so busy that a nod and “be right with you” couldn’t have been attempted. I just wanted to get a table, and a menu for a quick bite. The menu promises more than it delivers. I have had sandwiches, fruit toast, cakes etc, and they have all been a bit on the ordinary side, and not even presented well. The coffee, however, is not bad. The best feature is the décor – it is smart, a bit retro, with colonial style chairs, station clocks on the wall, antique style mirror, etc. But unless I have a burning desire to marvel at their interior, I probably won’t be back.

A delightful place to while away the time. Very friendly service, great food and smooth coffee. Their hot chocolates (including 'adult only') and shakes are an experience all to themselves. Clearly a hit with the locals too - always a good sign in my book. Cafe Emjay is on my 'regular' list now!

Prominent location .....

Seems like a local favourite.

Corner block, natural sunlight, nicely and homely set up, need to upgrade their coffee and food.

Enjoyable space.

Loved it. I came in for Mother's Day with my wife and kids. Great service, food and coffe. The rose was nice touch also. The girls on the floor were fantastic with the kids and everyone else, very attentive lovely girls . We will be back what a great experience.

One of my favourite cafe's to go during the week, and now is no longer. Normally I am greeted by my favourite girl mick with a big smile and yesterday I was not! I was hardly acknowledged. I asked one of the staff where mick was to be told that she had left, staff member didn't seem to care and was rude about it. The cafe was not busy and the girls had no problem having a chat between them selfs. Service was slow, but can't fault the food or coffee. Mick if you read this love myself (paul) and stuart will miss you dearly along with every other customers that you have touched in some way.

"This is not the place to come if you're in a hurry". The above title is a direct quote from the waitress, after I commented that it took over half an hour for food to come and I was on a lunch break (and very late returning to work as a consequence). cafe was not full at the time. Food when it did come was very nice, but be warned also that several items on the small menu are not available ... Eg Turkey was a feature in several of the focaccias/wraps which I was told was "seasonal" and not available in May. You learn something new every day ... I never knew turkeys only bred once a year.

Great Local Cafe. I have lived locally for a couple of years and went here today for the first time. Very impressed. Busy, but good food, excellent service and lovely coffee. A nice touch having games and colouring in for the kids. I will definitely be back! Well done, I will be recommending to my friends to come as well....

Politics. Allowed Tony Abbott in to make a media statement. Could be the best cafe on Earth, now wont ever see our custom.

Cafe Emjay. Great little Cafe, great service and food. This is not my first time there as I find it family friendly, they even have wooden puzzles for the children, which I think is a lovely idea.
Staff are very friendly and you are really looked after, even better the prices are reasonable.
The staff maybe young but they have been well trained and I couldn't fault their customer service skills.
I give them 10 out of 10.
Heather

Don't bother. Visited here based on good reviews and was utterly disappointed.
It says a lot if you can't get a soy latte right without burning the milk in this day and age.
Fruit toast was thin and burnt also. Very unappetising. They weren't even overly busy either, so can't find an excuse for the poor food and drink.
Wouldn't bother visiting here.

Deeeeelicious. I discovered this lovely suburban cafe about a month ago and thought I'd try the lamb and rosemary pie and a coffee. Although I burnt myself on the pie, once I'd let it cool, I couldn't have enjoyed it more! The accompanying chips were also great and cooked to perfection. The coffee was also great. I've been back twice since and enjoyed the food just as much every time.
The staff are young and they are friendly, although at times you might find yourself having to wave to get their attention.
Free wifi too, that's a bonus!
I'll keep coming back when I'm in the area!

Cafe Emjay a great find.. Having recently moved into the area we were delighted to find Cafe Emjay. The atmosphere is noisy but the staff are friendly and helpful and so far the food has been delicious. The coffee has been great also. A very pleasant cafe for freshly made food and a leisurely meal. We will certainly be back :-)

Lovely food, great place. I've been to this cafe a couple of times now - and I'm never disappointed.
Food is lovely, great coffee, staff are friendly.
What more could you want?
I'll be back

Not bad in general but no sweet breakfasts on the menu. After we ate we found it very difficult to get served to order more coffees.

I would like to start off my review with saying .... What a lovely little cafe!
This was the first time I've been to cafe emjay and it defiantly won't be the last!
The food was amazing, I had the salmon bagel, was so fresh and tasteful! My friend had a Turkish focaccia and she said it was great as well. Our coffee was delicious, the boy who made it was lovely. There was one thing that stood out to me and that was how accepting the cafe was with people with disability. There was a tall beautiful blonde girl who greeted every customer with a smile and took the time to help another lady in a wheel chair, in fact she had time for every customer. I found the cafe staff to be very polite, nothing is a drama or a big deal for them. I felt happy whilst sitting in the cafe and can't wait to re visit next week

Great afternoon. Enjoyed a great afternoon of poetry, coffee and good conversations yesterday. Thanks for hosting the event Cafe Emjay

Reasonably priced, nice coffee, friendly staff. A bit slow service, but I guess there's no need to try and rush a Saturday brunch.

I went in there to have some lunch I expected the environment to be nice and welcoming for me and my family, but found it to be different. The staff all looked very sad and unhappy, they seemed rushed and out of order. The cook which was a women I found to be rude and didn't treat her staff with the correct manners..fair to say I was very disappointed in the effort but im willing to give it another shot.

Noisy, but good service. The coffee here is generally very good, on the odd occasion hasn't been great, but the biggest thing for me is its extremely noisy and you cant hear conversations. Staff are very friendly and service is up there, but acoustics are very bad, in summer will be better, can sit outside. Overall a nice café.

Very happy. Absolutely loved it! Been there twice now & its one of my favourite cafe's around! Always smiling, attentive service ! The coffee is extraordinary , the male barrister always takes his time with presentation, which is a plus in my eyes! i have a bit of a sweet tooth & always order the hot chocolate, which is delicious & has a flower drawn on the top! ( gorgeous) the last time i come, i had the smashed avocado with a egg on top ! i asked for my egg to be hard, as i don't like it runny! ( they were very busy, i was expecting something rushed) My breaky arrived, presented nicely and the eggs were spot on, very impressed! majority of cafes i have been to have stick to there standard soft egg, as its easier for them! Was really lovely that they do things to your liking, not what is necessarily easier ! will 100% be back!

Bad experience for first time visit. Met a friend for her birthday there today 20/6/13, it is a lovely cafe in a good location and with good ambience & nice coffee. But..... We placed our order of toast & coffee - we got our toast but waited and waited for our coffee, we finally had to remind them. They came back and apologised as the young lady had forgotten to put the coffee order in. Well that's ok, that happens when you are busy. But when the coffees came we were looking at a photo album and the young lady passed the coffee's over the top of the photo album to put on the other side of the table and some how managed to spill the coffee which was in a mug on a large saucer over the photo album. I never pass drinks over someones ipad, phone, photos, book or computer because there is always that risk. She needed to put the coffees done on the other side of the table as in serve us from the other side which was quite possible. So 1/ coffees were nearly forgotten and secondly I now have a damaged photo album. So not at all impressed really.

Excellent Coffee, Food and Service. This is a real find in the Eastern Suburbs. The staff are uber friendly and I notice even call a number of patrons by name. But for me the best part is the coffee with a free mini biscuit. Quality is excellent and at a great price.

Great Cafe!. The atmosphere at Cafe Emjay is relaxed and casual. With the TV and the Barista working the coffee machine in the background, it's hard not to sit back and have a leisurely breakfast or lunch. When you walk in, the first thing they do is politely direct you to a table and hand you a menu. The pricing is a bit high, but the toasted sandwiches are worth every cent! When you bite into one, the taste and aroma hits you first. Then the cheese oozes into your mouth. Finally, the rest of your selections in the sandwich complete the taste of the best sandwich ever. During lunch hours the cafe is a bit hectic, with people around you chatting loudly, but luckily the staff at the restaurant can hear you easily when you order your meal. If you're looking for a quick bite, then you've come to the wrong place, because when you sit down, you are not getting back up for at least another hour. Cafe Emjay is an excellent place to bring friends, colleagues, business partners or even families to if you're looking for a restaurant where you can have time to chat all day.

Welcome addition to village! Efficient service, excellent coffee, range of nibbles/food, raw sugar to go with coffee AND real coffee spoons (not soup spoons!). Good lighting and sift background music - nice. Chic fit out. Excellent. We'll be back.

Also first time in since new owners, impressed by new look but should have realised this would also mean pricey... Good service from staff, very friendly & attentive. Some items on menu ok price, but stupidly, I ordered the avocado & fetta on toasted ciabiata... Wasn't till after ordered saw it was $12.50... Oh well, thought wait & see, but what I got was small slice soggy ciabiata with (not a lot) avocado & a sprinkle of fetta, & oh slice of lemon! We also had a salmon bagel @ $9.50 & ice-choc ($5) soy ice-coffee ($6). Total $33. Too pricey overall but the avocado on bread was just an insult! Definitely not going back.

Great coffee, Shonky service. The two or three times I have popped in here for a coffee I have sat down and been ignored. The young staff appear more interested in milling around behind the counter than attending to the tables. However the young male barista made me one of the best coffees I've had in a while, after repeated attempts to gain the attention of a waitress was finally noticed in the near-empty cafe. I'll give it one more go, but if I'm ignored again, I won't be back.

New owners - great result. First time at this cafe since it changed hands - WOW - no longer does it look like a cafeteria - It's got atmosphere!!!!!!!. Menu is simple but everything you want for a light lunch. Staff were really friendly. I'll be back.
