Review The Oven Twist - Ringwood

Service was lovely, the lady that served us was very polite and cheerful and attended us quickly. The food came out roughly 5-10 minutes after ordering. We had the big breakfast and found that for the most part it was delicious, however the eggs where a bit overdone. Overall would come here again, as the atmosphere plus the service was pretty good.

Arrived after the lunch rush and when there were only 2 other customers. This should have been the first warning sign. The front of staff were nice and eager to collect our order however seemed inexperienced when it came to paying for the meal. The meal was not worth its money. I ordered a veggie stack for 14.50 expecting a nice elegant eggplant and zucchini stack with parmesan cheese, sauted mushroom and mashed pumpkin. Unfortunately I did not receive this. Although the eggplant was nice and tender, the zucchini was bland, the mushrooms were scarce (had maximum of 10 slices scattered around the plate) and for the pumpkin it was non existant (got none). The other main meals my family ordered were the flathead and the vegetarian risotto and they too were disappointed especially with the lack of flavor and the size of the meal. We also ordered a pot of tea for $3.80 , which in my opinion should have been offered with milk as it lacked some flavor and tasted weak. The eggplant chips were probably the best part of the whole experience and worth the $8 we payed. Not oily, had a crunch and were served with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. Like I said at the beginning, the lack of customers should have been a warning about the quality of food this restaurant provided. Would I go back again? Most likely not.

Great food, good service. Kid friendly.

Lovely restaurant (nice atmosphere)! The food was delicious and the staff were excellent! We had 5 for a birthday lunch and everyone loved what they ordered. The staff were more than happy to put the candles on the cake we brought and bring it out (so special)! At the end they allowed us to split the bill (very accommodating)! Would definitely eat here again!!

Very friendly service, excellent seniors meal and drink offers, good quality and well presented food. The lemon and pepper calamari with salad is particularly good. Comes with a reasonable glass of wine for only $14.00!! Would have to say the ambience is just ok.

Three hungry senior people at 1 pm on a Friday, did not know where to go. Stopped at The Oven Twist. We chose the seniors meals which included a glass of house wine. Good value for money ($14 ea) and a good meal to boot. Staff was good and friendly. If I had to point out one negative it would be the lack of aucoustic control. There were only about 25 people in the reastaurant and it was so noisy that we could not hear each other talk. I would hate to be there when the place is full. Owners, please install some noise deadening panels on walls and ceiling and it would be much nicer to come back.

One of the best meals I have had since my stay in Melbourne. My work requires me to travel a lot and I have tried so many cafes and restaurants so far. But believe when I say Oven Twist beats them all by a huge margin! Food, service, interiors all is on point. I have eaten here four times already and cant wait to be back!

I took a group of 24 there for lunch and the staff were fantastic. Some of the group I took changed their orders at the last minute or forgot what they ordered but the staff (Nadia and Robbie) were only to happy to make it work. The Chef, Marco's food was great.

Should have stayed home and made our own breakfast and saved myself $66, food was cold when it arrived, I so hate having to send food back to the kitchen staff, but I really hate eating cold food I am so paranoid to what happens to food behind closed doors, anyway when breakfast was heated up poached eggs were then hard boiled, sausages tasted cheap and nasty, bacon was undercooked not crispy as stated on menu, and to top it off who wants to watch soccer on the tv on a Sunday morning, positive it was not on for customers, but definitely the staff, music would have been better for the atmosphere, boring food and venue. Not a happy mum who likes to treat her daughters to Sunday breakfast out occasionally.
Donna Marie Barbaro Gabbusch
Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere!! Service slow. Food poor. Only 2 other tables occupied on a Sunday night - that should have been our warning. Placed our order and waited, and waited. Eventually got our drinks (hot chocolate and flat white coffee - both luke warm). Food eventually arrived. Arancini balls - crisp on outside, runny and soggy inside. Lemon pepper squid was chewy, with no condiments (eg aioli). Chicken Parmigiana was a small crumbed thigh fillet with average topping at best. All food was luke warm, nothing was hot. Definitely not enjoyable. Writing about an hour after leaving and currently getting a stomach ache. Can not recommend this place at all. One star is generous!

Went here today with my mum for lunch, had a massive craving for some eggs on toast type deal (the breakfast menu finishes at 2pm which is great). Although I live in the area, I hadn't heard of the place, but the menu online looked good so that was that. The food was amazing and generously portioned. The waitress seemed genuinely lovely (not the type that puts on "the face"). Unfortunately I can't remember her name but she was on around 1pm. Will definitely be back to try out some other menu items!

The Oven Twist is our favorite local restaurant, it is close to home and off street parking. The Big Breakfast is just that and very tasty. The menu and wine list are extensive and the staff are always very friendly. Highly recommend.

Service: is reasonable and fairly courteous. Attentive and well within accepted margins. Did not take back our cutlery. Waitress did ask, but we felt prompted to hold on. Atmosphere: pleasant decoration and colours. This was hampered by the lipstick stain on my water glass. Food: Had aranchini balls for entree shared with a partner. A sparce serving. Each ball was bland in flavour, however accompanying sauce was quite good. Partner had the tortellini, which was not flagged as beef tortellini. Being vegetarian, she was dismayed by this. I had the chicken alexandria. Chicken itself was very well cooked, however the sauce for it was uninspired. Good, but not notable. The accompanying chips were a highlight. Chips were crisp with a delicious flavouring. Overall a decent dining experience, but not really worth a repeat visit.

The food was great, but the service was terrible. We had a booking, so they knew there was a big group, but they had one waitress, who was so grumpy. An hour to get our drinks & were never asked again, we had to go to the counter. The bottles, cans & empty glass weren't cleared until after we'd left the table. I think it was the manager who eventually came & took our meal orders. But was an hour from when the first kids meals were served to the last three meals, one of which was a salad. They seem to be doing a great UBER Eats trade at the expense of the eat in diners (I counted 9 while I sat and waited an hour for my salad)

We had the salmon eggs benedict and big English breakfast, both were excellent. The coffee was good too. The staff were friendly and accommodating and there is a lovely atmosphere about the place. Highly recommended
Debbie Lord
Amazing place. Fabulous food. Bruschetta was fantastic. Chicken Alexandria and Veal Scaloppine had great flavours for the palate. Really good coffee and great service. Thoroughly recommend and affordable prices.
Tammy Gaunt
Twice I've ordered chicken and mushroom risotto with a side of veggies for delivery. Both times the food arrived hot and right on time. It's delicious comfort food at a reasonable price. I will definitely order again. Yum!
Kim Cartledge
This is one of my favourite places to dine at. The food is always delicious, very reasonably priced, staff are so attentive and friendly. Can't recommend The Oven Twist highly enough.
Gayle Faulkner
I had the Seniors Calamari. It was very nice. The other dishes were very nice as well. I liked the Arinchini and the onion rings. Our waiter was very nice and prompt.
Kim Holmes
Great food and service, would highly recommend. We will be returning in the future, 5 stars

Absolutely wonderful, I had the crispy chicken burger with chips and struggled to finish the chips and that's saying something and my wife had the lamb salad and actually ate it all which again is extremely rare, well done chef and well done to the two lovely young ladies that looked after front of house.
Nigel White
Food was good, service was lousy. We had 26 in our party but we were the only customers in the place. Some of us had finished our meals before others had even arrived. 2 orders seemed to be forgotten....meanwhile the Uber eats guys had been in multiple times.....

Went with a friend for breakfast.
We ordered smashed avo and big breakfast with extra hash browns. For drinks, a chai latte and iced chocolate. Staff was very friendly and quick to assist. Food tasted delicious.

Had a long morning in the hopsital- decided to go to this cafe as my family has had no bad experiences there.
However on the 9/12/18 it was the worst cafe I had ever been too
The waitresses took 30 min to get to our table
My poached eggs were completely cooked- then when my waitress asked if I wanted them well done or not- I was in shock and had to respond I want my poached eggs as poached eggs which what I asked for. I felt like they were taking the piss out of me

Honestly, I used to recommend this place. But not anymore.
The service and food were horrible that day

Despite this the waitress with the orange hair from the previous times has been amazing and the food from the previous times
We had breakfast here and it was okay, service was okay too, the place was huge and only got few table occupied when we were there.
I guess this place is good to chit chat and have coffee (i love the coffee there but my partner said it was weak), as this place is very spacious and u can choose any sit u like without being near with other customer. Food wise, i cant really comment much til i try their lunch menu, coz breakfast always just eggs and toast and bacon basically.

I decided to have the ‘Tortellini Mushroom - sautéed mushrooms in garlic cream sauce, finished with a truffle oil drizzle ($19.90)’. The alluring smell of truffle oil instantly hit me when my pasta arrived.
Margret Chapman
We had the big breakfast this morning, very disappointed. Apart from it was not complete, It looked like it had been cooked yesterday. There was also very little on the plate for $19.
Paula
Enjoyed a wonderful brunch here today 😁!! I had Eggs Florentine with mushrooms on the side, the best cooked poached eggs, nice & runny 👌 ... The BEST brekky, great value and great service, ladies were sooo friendly and helpful, ty kindly 😉 ... My daughter enjoyed her eggs as well, very much. Highly recommend, will return. Perfect spot to enjoy a meal then enjoy a walk, run over at the parkland directly across the road. PAULA

Had breakfast there using Groupon. Waitress was very friendly and accepted our voucher after finding that we had tried book but that they didn't receive our call at 9:20 as they open 9:30 on Saturdays. Voucher included any breakfast and a drink for $20 for the 2 of us, which is definitely value for money!
Restaurant feels newly renovated and looks quite nice inside!
Wife and I both had a big breakfast plus a coffee. Scrambled eggs and sourdough, plus fried tomato and (only) 1 thin sausage were perfectly cooked. Bacon lacked any moisture, dry/quite overcooked and oversalted; same with the mushrooms - not fresh, wrinkly and salty. Serving size was definitely on the small side, especially for a "big" breakfast - it would be in the bottom 10 percent of "big breakfasts" - still, I can't really complain for the price we paid. "Strong flat white" was quite weak. I would happily have paid a little more for better food quality and stronger coffee. 2 small sausages with flavour would have been better than 1 plain thin sausage, in my opinion. I'm glad I got some chilli sauce to go with it!
It would be also good for staff to remind smokers on the porch that smoking in a food area is not appreciated these days.
Speccy
Breakfast was awesome here. Not the most warm & inviting ambiance, but hopefully that will improve with time (as its new). We tried a Groupon on our way to a festival. The smashed av mixed with feta & herbs on dark rye was SO flavorsome, one of the best I've had - & my partner had the chilli scramble & said it was good. Compliments to the chef!! Where this place falls down is the coffee. They need to use better beans & train their baristas properly, so they are quicker & more confident in what they are doing. The young lady was lovely & helpful - just maybe needed a bit more training.
Chloe.cordedda
The waitress was really friendly and accomodating to vegetarian, letting me swap out some things in the big breakfast for more vegetables. the food was delicous, and we didnt have to wait long for our meals :)
Mini Mooi
Friendly and fast service. I had lamb salad and my husband had burger. My lamb was a little bit dry and my husband said his burger could have more flavour.
Good location just across the ringwood lake to get a take away coffee.

Great food and staff are so friendly, second time coming here and will definitely be returning in the future. Breakfast menu looks amazing but here are some photos from tonight's dinner, we also received a complementary bottle of wine for my mums birthday and a free meal. 5 stars!
Maidstone Yana
The location was good, just opposite to Ringwood lake park. They serve breakfast up to 2 pm. So we can have brunch and take the kids for bike in the park all in one go.

We like the menu offering lot of vegetarian dishes and we had the vegetarian brunch on that day. Grilled eggplant and zucchini was tasty but maybe a bit too salty.
Jayne Coney
While the food was fresh & delicious & had several gluten free options, the service was appalling. We had booked a large group of 26, well in advance, yet they only had one wait staff for the whole venue! It took an hour drinks to be served & we not asked for any more orders after the first round. We had to keep getting up to the counter & asking. Meals came in dribs & drabs for more than an hour. Several people were served after the first few had finished their meals. 2.5 hours from start to finish & then they had the nerve to ask if we wanted dessert. Empty glasses & bottles were not cleared until after we had left the tables. Seems like they are doing a excellent UBER eats trade (i think I counted 9), with the dine in customers coming last.
It was service with a sneer.
Alexandra Greco
Absolutely horrified at the service. Had to get up off the table and approach the waitress to request some more drinks. Empty glasses and bottles sat at the table for the entirety of our night. Apparently service with a smile costs more these days.

Only positive, beside the extremely long wait for our food, it was very nice food.

Visited this cafe on a Friday afternoon for lunch. There were about 6 other tables that were occupied. It took 10 mins before the only waitress in the cafe gave me a menu and water. While the coffee first arrived very quickly, I waited for 40 mins for my meal to arrive. The same waitress sat a couple behind me, and explained to them that there'd be a long wait as they didn't expect the many orders for home delivery and walk-ins. But at any time there were only 6 tables!

Anyway finally got my meal- presentation looks good but taste wise- baked beans taste like out of a can, sausage is ordinary, burnt toast. Only the hash was great.

Verdict- i don't think I'd be back for meals, maybe takeaway coffee.
Sharon
Great service very thoughtful put high chair in front of tv so we can enjoy our meal. Used groupon ordered big breakfast very large meal. Will come back more!
Huani Neupane
I like the drinks, the presentation of the drinks were good but the food is kinda average. I wanted to take a nice picture of the food but it's not as pretty as the website looked like. Good serve. Only one staff was present at the time.
Chiresa
A local gem! Was empty when we came, but food was pretty good. Had the crumbed prawns for entree, and they were delicious! Crispy outside and the prawn itself was fresh and had the seafood sweetness. Had the parma for main which was a generous meal. The chips were a standout. Crunchy and fluffy and flavoursome.
Jessica
Ordered the pumpkin arancini and garlic bread through menulog. Took an hour to arrive. The arancini was completely tasteless and the bread wasn't suited to being garlic bread.
TrustyTraveller
We've been to this cafe two weeks in a row and can't have enough of the delectable chips. Golden brown on the outside, light and puffy on the inside and tasty throughout, every chip is perfection and consistent to the very last bite.

The mains are generous in size and tasty down to the heavenly chips and deliciously tangy dressing on the salad. We've had the parma, the golden flathead tails, porterhouse steak and chicken Alexandria - all of which are tasty. I ordered the steak medium rare and it came out consistently medium rare. The chicken breast for the parma and alexandria dishes were flavour infused right through and succulent.

Only thing is that it may take a while for food to arrive, but hey, it's definitely worth the wait!

Went here for dinner the other week with my girlfriend. We both agree that the food here was pleasant, although the portion sizing was just a little too large for my liking. The staff were super friendly and the pricing for the dishes themselves was fantastic! You'll be hard pressed to find an Italian-based restaurant cheaper.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
M
Such a fail! Ordered 'The Vego Burger' (mushroom and pineapple burger) from their menulog and got a totally different burger with a super spicy sauce. When we contacted them they said that they were no longer serving this burger but had not updated the information on menulog. They delivered another burger 40 minutes later which was the exact same burger but with a mushroom added! Not impressed by this poor excuse of a restaurant, have been coming for a few years now and will definitely not be back. Poor form Oven Twist, poor form.

Good place for family gathering . Good coffee & tea , big plate of fried calamari , our fries was a bit over cooked but taste alright , pasta's good . Friendly staffs .

I am surprised that this restaurant is not busy on a Friday night! It should be! We had 2 tender and cooked as requested, porterhouse steaks and a chicken fillet with salmon and cheese. These were served with crunchy, seasoned chips and a simple garden salad. We were pleased with our meals.
Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The room is attractively decorated, albeit, a bit cavernous.
We thought our meals were good value snd you can BYO wine.
I would recommend this place as an all ages suitable restaurant which offers a large range of dishes in a relaxed environment.

HAIR FOUND IN BOTH MEALS
We purchased a few Groupon vouchers to use because the Oven Twist was close to home and convenient for lunch prior to shopping at Eastland. The first time, service was good and meals were a decent size. The all-day breakfast is nothing spectacular but nevertheless enjoyable. The second time, my mum spotted a hair in her meal, which was extremely off-putting. We called the waitress over, who acknowledged the hair and was very apologetic (the hair was long, and my mum has very short hair). Subsequently, it was very difficult to enjoy my meal. A few moments later, to our utter disbelief, I found a curly dark hair stuck to the corn fritter (I have blonde hair). Again, the waitress was called and acknowledged the hair, apologising profusely. We asked to speak to the manager, who was absent. We waited about 15 mins for him to arrive. He again apologised and offered to not scan our voucher. This meant that we were left with a voucher we were extremely hesitant to use. We persevered for the third time - service was polite and efficient. Meals were nothing special. Bacon was poor quality - floppy and lacking flavour. Hollandaise sauce had a strange taste. Overall, good service, average food and seemingly poor hygiene standards. Extremely off-putting. Will not recommend and will not be back.
No wonder they are not busy saturday night...
Horrible food and cold atmosphere. Never again.
Invest in more authentic chefs .
Nice location... use it
Spice Of Life
Average. Used groupon voucher for all day brekkie on sund. Ordered big brekkie and veg brekkie. Place is bright with big windows but looked like a cheap cafe. Place was about 1/3 full. Food took a little while to come out and definitely not worth the wait. Everything tasted like they were store bought. Poached eggs in big brekkie were nicely poached. My corn fritter was literally beaten egg with corn kernels. It was flat not fluffy. The bread was so thin and it was either not toasted or toasted so lightly that it became mush sitting underneath baked beans. The serves are big but quality just not there for the price. Service was lovely but not enough to return even with voucher.

Wish I could give it a zero!

Ordered pancakes and they were totally way overdone. They were so dry that I hardly ate anything. The lady came over and said if I liked it and I said its dry and if I could get another serving. They refused to. They best they could do was to give me the smallest scoop of ice cream to go with it. All I did was eat the ice cream by itself. I also ordered a mocha and tasted watery, and had a kindergarten taste mixed with cappuccino.

I would rather pay my money and get better service at The Pancake Parlour! - so disappointed!!!
Eric
$16 and nearly an hour wait for a frittata that was smaller than my hand = a good way to ensure that I never step foot in this place again. I'm usually pretty understanding about waiting for food - I know kitchen's get busy - but this place was less than 1/3 full.
Laura Seymour
I've been here twice for breaky. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The meals are pleasant and big servings. The disappointment comes from the simplicity of the meals. I could easily make these same dishes at home and that makes it a place I wouldn't run to come back to.
Andrew T
Very enjoyable veggie breakfast. The coffee was well made, and the service was friendly and efficient.
Jane Katherine
Really disappointing. Arrived at 8.20pm on a Sunday night looking for a meal, only to be told that the kitchen was closed. Really?

Didn't even feel like it would be ok just to have coffee and cake.
"JT" Jeffrie Trika
Just after 1pm on Sunday, why there aren't more patrons?

Ample parking, great location, just across from Ringwood Lake Park, near the Ringwood bypass. This end of Ringwood has becomes its own food precinct.

Big windows, cozy, clean cut interior, a pleasant ambiance.

Well cooked meals, tasty but it needs identity to stand out.

Coffee is average, but their loose leaf teas distinctly enjoyable.

Great and friendly service.

I hope this business will honed its unique identity amongst the crowd.
Jennifer Trueman
Came for breakfast, The Big English and the Twisted Benedict, really nice service.
Food came out huge! Great value for money and it was also delicious!
Will definitely be back!
Sonoko Nishio
Great food, friendly service! The girl who served us was so nice too. It's the perfect place to have a meal - relaxed and pleasant. Thank you!
Dave
Came to this place for weekend brunch by accident while looking for another cafe which has apparently closed. The food is excellent with very generous portions. Great coffee too. The only down side was that service was a little slow, with a long wait for the food even though it wasn't particularly busy. But it was worth the wait.
Reiijoce
Attentive and friendly staff. The trio dip was a generous helping. We also had the chicken breast avocado and chicken breast mushrooms. The presentation was lovely, the fries were to die for as it was so super crunchy and not oily. Salad on the side was fresh. The chicken breast was a tad tough, otherwise it was a pleasant surprise to find a gem here. We will be back.

Fantastic experience, used the Groupon voucher for 2, big breakfast was wholesome and delicious, fantastic wait staff were very friendly and happy! Will definitely be back

Went to Oven Twist tonight First time for a year or so...7 people Cafe was not very busy (less than half full ) menu looked very nice and inviting. We had to wait over half hour before meals started to come in dribs and drabs. VERY DISAPPOINTED ____ meals were totally overcooked and uninteresting. Could not recommend and definitely will not come back.
Dimi
Went for the first time tonight for many years (was something else before). Food was lovely and well sized, everything was priced very well. Nice easy relaxed little cafe/restaurant. Nice to know there's a nice place for dinner around the corner from home, will definitely be back!

If you are ever looking for a nice meal in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place for you. Great serving sizes with reasonable prices and friendly staff are draw cards that keep me coming back. The new chef is doing a wonderful job, and the three course special meal is definitely a winner.
Cassie Green
Been going to this place for years now. The food is always good sized and tasty. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable. There 3 course $19.00 meals are great value for money. Thoroughly recommend if you are in the area and looking for a good meal.
Melanie-Rose Jakobs
Take away toasted cheese and tomato sandwich, cost me $8.50 and it was in ordinary bread and the cheese wasn't even melted.... Wont ever go there again

Best food I've had for sometime. We had Garlic prawns yum yum , Marco the chef is a friendly and happy to please man looking out to make sure we had a great experience thank you

Favourite place. The pasta was great defiently will come back, great service !!!

A let down.. I went to the oven twist around a month ago, I ordered the Angus burger and was sincerely let down. The beef was far over-cooked, the chips were soggy and I just didn't bother with the rest. The atmosphere was tense and the waitress seemed a little 'under the pump', so I felt I'd keep my opinion to myself. The owner seemed very unsociable, so again, I bit my lip. I was very disappointed with this restaurant, I feel as though the new place it's become doesn't come close to what it used to be.
Sorry, I won't be returning.

Ann. Nice place .. Really like the tapas .. Will definetly go back .

I went there for the first time with my wife on Friday night as it looked very inviting. I sat down and loved the ambience and the staff were very friendly. I ordered garlic prawns for my wife and Angus steak for me and both meals came looking presentable and were delicious. We had their in house made chocolate mousse and was really tasty. Will definitely be back.

3rd time not a charm. Tried it 3 times in 2 months to see if had changed and still the service is slow, the meals unappealing and the new owner very unsociable.
Will not be going back
Jessica
Food terrible, Atmosphere uninviting but customer service good. Went here late last year on a hot day, restaurant was very hot inside. Ordered a lunch special which included a soup for entree. Soup was made with a thin vegetable broth and chicken, soup was very unappealing and appeared to be fatty? Other courses were also unappealing. Staff member that served us was very nice, we felt bad that we didn't like it and tried to eat as much off our plates as we could. Sorry Oven Twist but well not be returning.
M.roberts.clifton13
Chairs were pushed in nicely, the food wasn't. Arrived on a Sunday for lunch and ordered a milkshake and an Angus burger, the burger was undercooked, we sent it back, only to find the same burger had been re-cooked and more cheese added to the burger! Wouldn't recommend this restraunt, and it's definetly off my list off places to go to!!!

Waited 50 minutes for meals when cafe was only half full. Canned asparagus on the vege focaccia.
