3.9. Visited Miss Reuben on Glen Eira Rd in Ripponlea today for a take away sandwich on the run: pastrami, red kraut and dijon was the order. On the pricey end for a sandwich but well worth it. Beautiful sandwich arrived - pictured - with a side of pickle and a scoop of patato salad with dill and caper. The pastrami was the proper stuff - think Jewish style corned beef. Red kraut has perfect vinegary texture and was crunchy and magnificent. The sandwich was juicy and oozing with piquant Dijon. After a sandwich like this for lunch, no dinner is required! Nice fitout here if you want to sit in, and they do takeaway too. The sandwich was $18 and that they do catering as well as take away. 3.9
My partner and I found ourselves in Elsternwick one Saturday and decided to try Miss Ruben's Canteen for breakfast/brunch. I really loved my Corn & Paprika Waffles and my partner enjoyed his Reuben sandwich. The coffee was great too. Would also love to try their takeaway salads next time!
Eclectic mix of dine in and take out. Great salads for the health conscious but you can’t go past the the signature pastrami. Niccolo coffee. Ripponlea keeps getting better
Absolutely fantastic sandwiches. The only shame is you probably want to eat 3 in one sitting. Can be difficult to get a seat as it's usually pretty crazy.
Lovely salads, flourless chocolate cake and lemongrass & ginger tea. I'm very surprised with the previos bad reviews. Front staff was lovely and friendly. I quite liked the salads. Many options to chose from. I would suggest you to give it a try. I have very sensitive stomach. I can't eat out without suffering but I had very pleasant experience in here.
I visit here regularly for lunch as I work around the corner. The salads are amazing, I have tried remaking the quinoa salad repeatedly at home and it's never the same!
Love popping into Muss Ruben's Canteen. There coffee each time has been delicious and the number of salads and spanakopita I've tried over the times have been sensational.
Great little spot to come for lunch. If you're a fan of New York style deli, then you will love this place. I had the pastrami sandwich, gluten free bread available, and it came out exactly as you would hope. Piled high with delicious pastrami just like in those New York deli's.
Fairy expensive, however one sandwich is enough to fill you up comfortably. The salads looked very overpriced.
We will definitely return.

Amazing Pastrami/Corn beef sandwiches... Best in Melbourne imo - rivalling the USA deli style Rubens... The salads were also amazing! Seating is scarce so be prepared to take away.
The back end of this business are doing a fantastic job. Also love the space, esp. the high ceilings, it's bright and airy with cute period features. Refreshingly different, compared to many cafes which seem to have the same fit out design briefs. A good addition for the Ripponlea strip. The three salads I chose, to go, were delicious and sustaining. Will definitely go back and soon and make time to suss everything out.
Can only comment on the pastrami sand which is one of the best myself and my partner have ever had! Unfortunately, I thought the salads were rather bland although they appeared to look very colourful and appetizing. 3.5/5 due to awesome pastrami sandwich only.
Incredible salads - so tasty and filling. I can recommend the pumpkin salad and my wife had the delicious ruben sandwich. What a great addition to the Ripponlea cafe scene.
Absolutely loved this place! They have the most incredible salad bar which you can mix and match all the salads with no restriction on how many! The service was amazing too.
Turkey sandwich and of course the Ruben were delicious! A little pricey but the whole concept and execution have been put together well and I am very much looking forward to come back!
It's taken a while for me to get there, but it was worth the wait! What a really great place it is. The staff aren't in your face which always really bugs me. The food is simple but SO tasty, the place is funky, casual and has loads of charm. I love that you can see all the home made goods beside the register, we just stood there and drooled over (over not on) everything we saw. Not much to fault here at all actually. I can't wait to return.
This place is a Must try! Best ruben sandwich & the gnocchi were amazing! Took home some sweets & they were good. Looking forward to our next visit
