Review Kent Street Deli - Rockingham

Great spot just a block from the beach - nice staff, good flavors and coffee

Such friendly service every single time. A real highlight of the rockingham cafe area. Good coffee! Had the maple pumpkin and pulled pork on sourdough.

Great food and coffee and they're puppy friendly!

Very delicious quality breakfast with nice coffee casual cute atmosphere. Great service. Enjoyed a beautiful bacon croquet with best poached egg I've ever had. Salmon eggs with potato hash was yummy also.

A great cafe to enjoy the quality food for breakfast or lunch, open 7 days a week. There's a great range of food and drinks on the all day breakfast and lunch menu. Fantastic service and nice location with outdoor seating make it popular for people with dog, which are very welcome. Recommended for a quick copy by yourself or catching up for a meal with friends or family.

The Catering for our Boat Trip to Rotto was looked after Kent Street Deli & was AMAZING!! We had 32 people on the boat and every single person was blown away with how nice the food was. Thanks so much everyone involved!!

Our favourite local lunch go to in Rockingham. Steak sandwich and chips and their meat pie is like a staple lunch for hubby and the kids. Great place to hang out after spending Sunday morning at the local market. Everything here just taste delicious.

Exceptional food, I dream about their sticky pork tacos.

** 3.5 stars **

I came to Kent Street cafe for a quick lunch mid week. Service was accommodating, friendly and prompt. I had the lunch special which was lamb croquettes with mushrooms and siricha mayonnaise. It was tasty.

Always walk away pleased from this place. It’s our favourite brunch spot in the area. Food is delicious and never had any problems with service. The only thing is at times I feel you could get a little more on your plate for the price.

Wow this place has been my favourite cafe for years now, the food is amazing, the staff are so friendly and helpful, the prices are so reasonable, and there is So much choice for such a quaint little place, it's not only meals, the snacks and salads are awesome, so is the coffee. The owners of this place have really gone out their way to open up the space they have next door to the community, there are always free workshops or low-cost training sessions happening, they are available for all, with a variety of so many different hobbies, skill improvements, bloggers meet and brainstorm and write together, lots of people gather and making new friends. I wish there were more places like this in Rockingham that cared for the community so much, whilst providing the best snacks, mmmm yummy. They don't always have them because they go so fast, but I dream of their Pork Burritos so good and the homemade real roast beef and salad rolls! You must check this place out. They have won awards for their amazing food! They even do catering, wow!

Went for lunch with a bunch of girls and we had the small room, very nice and away from the crowd. Brunch was OK but the poached eggs were a little over done. Service on a couple of items was slow.
A classic example of why you should listen to the locals when they warn you away. This place was one of my worst meals this year. I went, lured by a discount and a day out nearby but regretted it. After not being served for 10 minutes we had to dig up some menus ourselves only then to be harrassed by three young but polite waitresses in a row, one after the other in the space of two minutes so had to ask for a few minutes to order of all three. We then ordered and had to tell the other two who came again one after the other to harrass us again.

Then 5 minutes later were told the order was not available, and had to try again. We ordered a long black, got an espresso - the other cappucino was burned. The order for food arrived quickly (a bit suspiciously so given several others ordered right before we did) and they were really disappointing again. My friend's zucchini "fritters" were simply fat, battered sticks of vegetable and not much with it - very expensive given the $18 price tag. My bacon croquettes were two stodgy, lukewarm, fat chunks of oily dough with barely any bacon to be seen and both of my poached eggs had broken and sagging, with the yolks all over the plate - the "candied jamon" was one piece of burnt and solidified stuff I wouldn't eat. The salad garnish was fine but drowned in sour mustard. Both meals were very poor quality and we then needed seasoning due to lack of flavour.

Every table but ours had salt and pepper so I went hunting until I spotted some empty tables on the other side. After sitting down and tasting all the grease I then had to go hunting for napkins which only some tables had. We both felt a bit ill afterward, probably the cold greasy food. Then after sharing a polite post on my experience I had the pleasure of getting abusive messages from someone who was from the cafe, with snide and bitchy comments and ignoring the feedback. They also had their staff commenting on the post pretending to be people who liked the food. Even with a discount it's not worth the awful food as it took hours to feel decent again. Do yourself a favour and listen to the locals who told me to stay away - head down to the waterfront and eat there. There's a takeaway shop that charges half the price and makes fresh burgers to die for, and you won't feel ill afterward!

I cannot rave enough about this place. I'm a massive fan of a good vege breakfast and I reckon this might be the best I've ever had! Full of colour and taste, with all homemade extras (homemade corn fritters, homemade beans etc). I came with 4 others who also loved their breakfast choices

Amazing brunch in this cute little cafe made my birthday morning! the staff were lovely, could not fault the food or service, would highly recommend. the cakes looked amazing too, would love to have had room for more!

Came here for brunch. Was very busy at the time but there was still indoor seating available.

Friendly service but it did take a bit longer for the food to come out. My flat white had a bit too much milk froth on top but wasnt too bad.

I had the bacon croquettes. Lovely hollandaise sauce. I added a serving of hashbrowns. Probably a bit too much potatoes in a meal. Still good though. Happy to return.

Had breakfast there on Saturday morning. It came highly recommended by friends. The service was good, sat down and we were straight away able to order. My husband had the all day breakfast which was good. I liked the look of the salmon hash but when I asked the waitress if I could have a child's serve or at most a half serve of the normal size as I had just had surgery and couldn't eat much, she refused. I should have asked her to please go and ask the chef if he could just serve up a smaller plate (I was quite happy to still pay the same price - I just hate waste). I ended up with a full size serving of which I could only eat one hash brown and three forkfuls of egg and salmon. A terrible waste. Next time I won't order anything. I'll just share with my husband. Disappointed.

I've been here a few times and never been wowed or anything, but this time was quite the disappointment.
There were four of us for breakfast, we each ordered a drink and our meals and a couple of sides (hashbrowns and the house beans).
The juices of the day were Pineapple+Basil and Kiwi+Mint, which we ordered one each of. Both tasted like herb water, there was absolutely no flavour of fruit in there; and it was more a blend than a juice, gritty and tasteless.
The meals were ok, nothing special, but not awful. What struck us though was the size of the sides.
The hashbrown cost $4 and all we got was one soggy, squashed hashbrown the size of a 50c coin. For $4... what a f**king rip off. To add insult to injury, it was also a shit hashbrown.
The beans cost us $3.5, which ended up being a small sauce ramekin thing, with about a tablespoons worth of house beans.
We mentioned this to our waitress, who looked at us blankly, said she would go get some more hashbrowns and then didn't.
When paying for the meal we mentioned the sizes of the sides again, and the lady behind the counter apologised and said she would take them off the bill, which I thought was quite nice... until I looked at my receipt after I paid and realised that they were still on the bill :-\
Don't think I'll be going back again...

I'm turning into a regular here,
Excellent, flavourful food. Lunch menu is a bit small though.
Drinks are fine but sometimes take longer to be served than the food.
Staff are fine but do seem pretty flustered even when the place is quite, understaffed?
Price is a little step for what it is.
Would suggest avoiding on Sundays, the place is packed.
Still much better than the Dome a few doors down though, no competition.
They recently got a liquor licence, I'm excited to see what changes that will bring.
Becky
Really, really reluctant to hand over $50 for this meal. I am not sure what was going on in the kitchen or front of house today. Usually pretty easily pleased, but when you have to wait 45 minutes for your breakfast to arrive in a half full restaurant you realise that the missing bacon and severely overcooked greasy scrambled eggs are really not worth fighting for. What an awful start to a Sunday morning :( :( I don't even want to rate this place 1.
Pennae
If only it were a bit bigger! You'll find all of the classics here, and some with a bit of a twist. My sausage roll was a meal unto itself but Mum was less than impressed with her pie, which came out much earlier than the chips to go with it. Rockingham used to be a pie, chips, and gravy town - a twist on that classic would go down well.

My son and I tried Kent Street on Sunday for breakfast, for the first after my friends have raved about it. And I wasn't disappointed. The place is cool and rustic - can't believe I have never been here before.
The eggs benedict are to die for. The hollandaise sauce is the best I've had!
The young girls working were exceptional. The blonde girl was so friendly and helpful while ordering and couldn't fault the brown hair girls' service.
The only bad thing I could say is my coffee was cold and was a little bitter but definitely didn't take anything away from my experience.
Will definitely be back.

Someone seriously needs to call the health inspectors on this place. The place is filthy. God knows how they've managed to stay in business this long. Ive worked in the industry for years, and generally dont leave reviews that arent positive, but i just have to write something in the hope this makes it to the owners. That young blonde chick needs to go. What the hell. How can someone working in hospitality have such terrible customer service? If you hate your job that much then get another one. How have the owners not picked up on how terribly their business is affected by their staff? They must know.

It's unfortunate that there aren't more places in Rockingham to eat. It's obviously the only reason they haven't struggled, and maybe that's why the owners aren't listening to any feedback. They're clearly under the illusion that their cafe is a success.

On the plus side, the red headed girl seems to know how to make a coffee. That's the only positive to be mentioned really.

Very nice food and friendly staff! My sister didn't like their sausage in the big breakfast, but they are good to me. We also had the kiwi mint drink and the detox, both very nice. Slightly pricy $55.4 for all! Still worth coming!

After my Dad told me this was voted 'Australia's best cafe' we decided to take a drive & check it out. Ordered the eggs benedict which was available all day at around 1pm. I'm always happy and accepting that EB takes a lot of effort to make if done properly and applaud establishments that do all day EB. That said the one at Kent St wasn't so good. The sauce lacked any sort of lemon flavour and just tasted like butter, probably not the ideal time to order an EB dish I understand however it was disappointing. The dish looked great and so did others floating around but unfortunately the flavour wasn't there. Whether it was an off day for the chef or bad timing it was a shame as staff were nice. Like others have said perhaps their counter display options were a better choice, or another dish.

I've always loved this place, been so many times, never hesitated to go back. Today was a different story. Not sure what happened. Can't fault the service and coffee but the menu has changed. I was devastated! I would always come for the Huevos Rancheros, it was so consistently good. It's no longer in the breakfast menu :-(. I understand menu's do change but... Not sure if I was sad that I couldn't have the breakfast but I didn't enjoy the food today, not sure if it's a different chef, my partner, who isn't as fussy as me, didn't enjoy it ether. It's a shame.

I enjoy Kent street Deli, sometimes the food takes forever to come out though. It will be interesting seeing what the new menu has to offer. The food is usually a great idea but misses the flavour mark. Fresh salads are great but pumpkin would be better roasted. It's the little touches that are missing.
Chet
I was so excited to try this cafe as I had heard great things however I have to say on the coffee front it was so disappointing. I got a couple of takeaway coffees and the only good thing I can say about them is they were scalding hot. The taste was horrible...barely tasted like coffee. I got one large size in a takeaway cup and brought my own regular sized keep cup, however was charged for two large coffees...not to mention that nowadays most places offer a discount if you bring your own cup...happy to not get the discount just don't want to be overcharged for bad coffee.

KSD pancakes for $17 was delicious.
The all day full breakfast @ $19.90, love the crispy Vienna Sausage.
Flat white was smooth and creamy.
Friendly staff and great service. Recommended.

Yum. This cafe has it sussed. My mother is french and so the fact Kent St Deli has a crepe corner is pretty epic. Mine was ham, cheese, pesto and mushroom with added spinich and it hit the spot bang in the middle. Amazing. A must try.

The service is incredibly slow I waited 30 minutes for a take away coffee. The food was even worse is was actually inedible I ordered the pancakes which were rock hard I couldn't even cut through them, I showed a waitress who apologised but considering I couldn't eat my breakfast I would have liked my money back... No such luck. I wouldn't waste your time or money.

Really yummy breakfast and friendly staff. They did forget one coffee we ordered but made straight away when we let them know. Coffee was delicious!

a couple of times i've been mega disapointed and felt like they're resting on their laurels. but at other times i have loved this place. The chilled chai latte is always good. I prefer to order from their display of salads, bagels, baked goods, etc rather than from the menu. strangley it has only ever been bad when i order from menu. That being said they had these corn fritters with bacon that are always good.

We decided to have breakfast here because we have voucher from Entertainment book. The food is really yummy. I had a ham and cheese crossaint and my husband had full breakfast. We will definitely come back.
Kate2406
Really enjoyable brunch spot on rocky beach, nice open area with plenty of tables that is pet friendly! The eggs benedict was good, and the toast was really nice, the drinks are over priced - $8 for a small juice ... seems excessive! Waitress was quite disinterested in us but the food made up for it

This is the first place we have ever eaten at that didn't take allergies seriously. The blonde girl on the till was rude and asked if I had 'read the menu'. Yes, of course, but there isn't any information regarding where and how things are produced on menus and I need to check. I had looked the menu up online but it didn't show peanuts as a main feature which is only apparent when you see the display cabinet. (Of course we decided straight away that our son couldn't eat there, but at least he could have a drink) Anaphylaxis from cross contamination is a big concern and this place obviously hasn't trained their staff in the importance of listening to customers. This became apparent when we were served the juice which I specifically asked about and if it was bottled and produced off site. When it came it out was in a glass jar, not a manufacturers bottle. Why not just say so and I wouldn't have ordered it instead of paying for it only to waste it as it is too risky in a peanut contaminated environment. I wasn't rude, I was making a polite and genuine inquiry and the raised eyebrow and attitude was really unnecessary.

This place is definitely rated too low for its amazing quality! We have a cheese platter and it come out with a mountain of goodness! The spiced aged cheddar is so tasty, as well as the chef made pork terrine. It's my best breakfast of the year so far!

Kent street great location.
Great day for the sunset, drinking wine and eating. Now they only have two nights monthly for dinner.
Makes it special. They change the menu.
Well worth the visit. Nicely set up from the normal cafe setting. Little music in the background.
We order the seared duck with confit duck ravioli and foie grae. Also the kangaroo loin and a side of pumpkin and molasses.
They were all well cooked the kangaroo was tender. The pumpkin was soft with a beautiful molasses sauce.
The duck was perfect, the pasta was on the money a little dry inside but was still tasty.
I recommend showing up for a feed at Kent street for dinner.
The other bonus was it good value.

Five of us and the two kiddies met up for Sunday brunch at my brother’s local. A bit of a drive for me and my sister, but when the food is this good it is worth all the dollars in fuel. The Deli has a quirky fit out that would be right at home in Freo. You can order at the counter, and be tempted by the delish displays of baked goods, salads and bagels, or perhaps take it home for later. The lady at the till was genuinely friendly and welcoming which made the trip even more the pleasanter. I ordered a cappuccino, the mini caramel donut for starters (a man has got to have his sweets) and for the mains, the bacon croquettes with poached eggs, hollandaise and a candied prosciutto salad which was an interesting addition to a breakfast menu so I had to have it.

Coffees came out quickly, hot and very nice. The donut, what can I say, one bite and the Deli won my heart. Think gooey caramel and fresh donut, it kicked started the taste buds. I reckon it should be a must when you order coffee! They also do very good smoothies in jars according to David. Not too soon after the coffees arrived and I finished my donut, the real food arrived. All beautifully presented, it would have been hard to judge who’s dish was the best based on the visual presentations. But the big brekkie on the board looked like a really good feed, and the clean board after finishing said it all. My croquettes, thanks Brooke for the recommendation, were superb. Crunchy and then the soft potato centers with bacon, were spot on. The eggs came out poached to perfection oozing their golden yolks when I cut them open. The hollandaise sauce was fresh and tasty. Perfect dish, and my plate was also clean.

Compliments came from all around the table. We finished off the cake made of fruity goodness that the little one didn’t finish; hint of raisin and caramel, it was great to finish on. All in all, great value and really delicious food. Come out here for a drive, enjoy brunch at the Deli and then go for a stroll down the beach like we did.

Went here for lunch yesterday. Positives were coffee was the best I've ever had in Rockingham, and the food was really delicious. We both had Barramundi. Down sides were they gave us the special instead of the barramundi from the menu, we didn't even know there was a special because no one pointed it out and there is no table service. The food we got was incredible, so we didn't mind getting a surprise. However, I think the food is expensive for the location and service. You can be looking out over the beach with table service just around the corner for this price instead of sitting on the pavement looking at a busy intersection. Also, it was a hot day and there was no airconditioning inside so really needed to sit outside. Don't go here on a very hot day. I will go back for coffee but probably wouldn't eat here again.

So I had written a review on the Kent street Facebook page sharing my awful experience! Nothing rude was said from my behalf, was just being honest and providing feedback. To my concern I had received a very nasty message from some lady who knows the owner trying to guilt trip me in taking the post down and then referring to me as being a "nasty young lady with no time on my hands, you sad young girl, you have a nasty mouth".
I am appalled by this response! As a business owner you should be embarrassed, and at the least apologising that I had a crappy time at your deli. Very unprofessional! This place is going down hill from here with all the horrible feedback I have read. Won't be in business much longer!
Gerard Martin
Nice atmosphere but food and coffee just aren't up to scratch. We keep coming back because Rocky doesn't have many options and we keep hoping it'll be better next time. Coffee is consistently bad and food is either good but over priced, or ordinary and over priced. Today I ordered the barramundi for $24 and got no more than a 100g sliver ($4 market price max). We have finally agreed never to try this place again.
Cassie Tanadi
Probably the best brunch place in Rockingham. Me and boyfriend ordered 2 items on the specials blackboard which was the chorizo omelettes and the butterscotch waffles. I was super pleased with both meals, the portions were perfect and tasted amazing. The waffles is defiantly for people with major sweet tooth as it was very sweet, but tasted delicious. Will be back to try other items on their menu!
Pia
I will definitely go back and recommended to others!
We were in Rockingham for the day (from Perth) and was told about Kent Street Deli from a local. We got there about 8:30am on a Saturday, and although quite busy, the staff took our orders with a smile. We sat at the window table and were brought our coffees quite promptly, considering how busy there were.
The food was delicious! We both got bacon & eggs on toast with an added side. Unfortunately mine was brought out a good 10mins after my friends, so I'm not sure if something went wrong in the kitchen. I also paid an extra $1.50 for GF bread, but was only given one small, thin piece of bread. Alternately my friend got 2 large pieces of normal bread. However, when I asked the waitress for another slice (to go with my 2 poached eggs) she happily brought me one and even apologised for the hassle.
Briezer
Friendly staff, great atmosphere.
Coffee was great, if your looking for coffee only here is a great place. If you want food as well go elsewhere.
Dirty cutlery, food comes out in different intervals-40min between first and last meal coming out.
Food looked good but unfortunately didn't translate to taste :/ i couldn't finish my meal as the eggs tasted like vinegar. An experience, just not an enjoyable one.
Lauren Gillies
Love the food here and the place. However everytime i come the cutlery is always dirty. Yuck! Wish the staff would just double check before they put it out
Kush
The best coffee in Rockingham 😀 the food is so good , try the corn fritters and bacon, lots of maple syrup . Was a great place to relax and enjoy some delicious food. Oh and don't forget to get some hand cut chips.

I have to say though, someone needs to start monitoring the dishes. The last three times we have been they have given us very dirty cutlery.

Best breakfast in Rockingham by far. Meals have artistic flair and generous portion sizes. Fresh juice is nice but the drink servings are a little small. Can be a wait for your meal sometimes but service is generally quite good.
Arii Mclean
Kent street deli is one of my favourite places to go eat breakfast and drink juice, I love the little donuts they sell and the decor although SOMETIMES (not too often) the food is cold when it comes out

Food was fast, fresh and tastey. Coffees were lovely. Service with a smile, that was polite, friendly and delightful. Dogs welcomed out the front. We will be going back.

Amazing food , amazing service ! Just what the foreshore precinct needed !! Fresh quality food with a huge option for healthier meals . Coffee is also great

Yesterday I met up with a friend and her gorgeous little girl at Kent Street Deli in Rockingham. We made an extra early breakfast date for 7am so as to fit in with her little ones sleeping times. I was pleasantly surprised that even at 7am (their opening time) the place was buzzing with people enjoying their morning coffee. And what a great coffee they serve! Hands down the best coffee I have had in a long time. I ordered an extra hot long mac and it came out exactly that- hot, strong and delicious!
Everything that came out of the kitchen looked really good and smelt amazing. Claire opted for scrambled eggs on toasted ciabatta, while I ordered the pan seared salmon served with wild rocket leaves, avocado, quince and a poached egg on top. Both meals came out at the same time and within a timely fashion and we couldn’t complain about the portion size! Claire’s scrambled eggs came with two large slices of ciabatta and my salmon steak was cooked beautifully with a generous serve of avocado, mixed leaves and a perfectly poached egg.
We were both very happy with our meals and our dining experience at Kent Street Deli.
Beth McCallum
Pure joy! Vegetarian breakfast ordered and a full big breakfast. Eggs were poached perfectly, mushrooms were devine and couldn't get enough of the homemade baked beans and hash browns! Only changes I would make would be baby spinach was a bit over cooked and ciabatta bread was difficult to saw through with the knives provided, overall these weren't huge dramas!
Papillon
Came here for breakfast on our way down south. The bacon croquettes were to die for. The service was great and the coffee we had were very nice. If ever in the area make sure you stop by. They had some nice range of baked goods too. Shame we were too stuffed to try any.

Amazing food, have been to Kent st deli a few times now for both breakfast and lunch, so far cannot fault them on food or service. The best so far is the club sandwich and banana smoothie.
Gorgeous food!!. I visited Kent street for lunch and had the best sandwich ever! As someone who used to own a cafe in England, I have ridiculous standards when it comes to food. This place was clean, well presented and most importantly had the best food and ice coffee! I like it so much I asked them to cater at my wedding (at home for 30 people). They were amazing and had the most fantastic chef and waitressing staff - highly recommend for a yummy breakfast, lunch and awesome at home dinner service!
Bethwalsh89
Worst service. 25 minute way for a takeaway coffee!! and then to be giving the wrong one. get your service right to busy talking amongst staff to focus on customers! this is not the first time either!! ridiculouse
Pasqualfurlan
Its not hard to get coffee right as long as all staff are on the same page. This is where Kent St can't get it right. Quality and taste varies too much , its either a good food place or a good coffee place it can't seem to do both.
Stephaniegiles1
Extremely disappointing. It seems to be a pattern with these healthy cafes - horrible service. I've been here about 5 times, and loved it at first because of the great raw food options, and am now bitterly frustrated at how bad the service is, that I can't eat here anymore. Three times, I specifically asked for my food COLD to TAKE-AWAY from the bain marie. Just one item. All they had to do, was take my money, grab the food off the bain marie, put it in a box and give it to me. ALL 3 TIMES, they ignored what I said and heated it in the oven, making me wait 25 minutes for something I asked for COLD. Even if I jammed the cold food in a microwave to reheat it, it should take 2 minutes. I'm standing there for almost half an hour every time. It's like the girls are all deaf. Then I asked for a raw slice, and they gave me the wrong one, I could have screamed when I got home with it. They see people waiting to be served, and ignore them, or just look at you with a bored expression while they take your order. Its absolutely atrocious, and I am completely over it. I'll tell anyone and everyone how bad the service is at any chance I get, until they clean up their act.
Cara McKinley
Friendly staff lovely food. Delicious food. The staff are so kind, brought out water with ice for my thirsty dogs. Always very busy though.
Coffeelover
Terrible service. The girl at the cash register take the order was incredibly rude! The tables and chairs are uncomfortable. Someone had their feet up on the table and the staff said nothing to him. The wrong drinks were brought to our table, then the wrong food. My partners food arrived and mine didn't, I had to ask 2 more times for it. The cutlery was dirty. Staff look uninterested and like they didn't want to be there. Will NOT be going back even though we live down the street
Balm123456
Kent Street Deli. After giving the place a wide birth for almost a year I caved-in as The Dome was so busy. I experienced exactly the same problem as the previous time-I'd finished my coffee and a milk shake before my partner's drink and my cake arrived. My partner's iced chocolate wasn't drinkable! RUBBISH!

Get a system. Whilst food is average to good enough the service is really lacking. Have been quite a few times and they consistently miss orders (3/5 visits) and wander around with your order hoping to find you....this results in long waits etc. Frustrating as with a better system the overall experience could be so much better. Lovely boho atmosphere.

Very poor service!. I have been to kent street deli a number of times after work, as I work just down the road. Every single time my mother and I go there, the staff are rude.
Not only is the customer service below par, the wait time for two coffees and a piece of cake is ridiculous! We waited 20 minutes this afternoon. I would understand if they were busy, working in the industry myself, but there were only three other people in the deli and they had received their coffees prior to us arriving.

Disappointing, as I used to enjoy going to kent st deli.
Hungrygirl
Big let down. Very disappointing.
We have been to Kent St Deli many times before but will not be going again as it's just getting ridiculous. Customer service has been lacking. Staff on today unattentive and unfriendly, not clearing tables (place needs a clean), looked like they couldn't even be bothered taking our orders. They were not busy and after waiting a long time and getting our orders wrong and in dribs and drabs with bacon hardly cooked, finally the last plate arrived with scrambled eggs still raw in spots. (This is in contrast to the last two times we have been and ordered poached eggs that were hard so thought scrambled eggs was the safe bet!). After complaining, the manager was quite "couldn't care less" and offered to refund money and if I wait 5 mins chef will cook some more but by this time others at our table had finished their breakfast so took a refund.
All we wanted to do was leave. Very disappointing as this is one of the 'nicer' places in the area. Lift your game Kent street Deli.
Tw
Inconsistent. I'm a regular visitor to this place but have a love-hate relationship with it. Some days they nail it - great food, great coffee, great service. Other days (like breakfast yesterday) it all seems to fall apart - average service, slow food, cold coffee. I'll probably return because the options for a decent breakfast in Rockingham are extremely limited.....unless you're a fan of the greasy spoon style breakfasts served up in every cafe on the beach strip. And to be clear, the food here IS good, it's just the coffee and service that's inconsistent. Would also love to see a change to the outdoor tables, which are down right awkward to eat off.
EatingOut
Hmmm not impressed. Coffee was okay not something to Rave about. The food....well below average. $8 small salad slapped on a side plate with 6 olives, a couple of bits of tomato, some feta and a whole lettuce something a veg grower would be proud of. The burger took 20mins after my salad arrived. For $32 we got 2 average coffees, a below average "gourmet salad" and a burger that was 20mins late. Great concept poor execution. Won't be back.

Upon our visit to Kent St, we decided to stop into the Kent Street Deli for brunch... I can' only speak for myself, but I ordered the big breakfast that arrived on a wooden chopping board. I love that rustic feel and was impressed on the presentation put forward. However upon eating the food my smile turned in to a frown! The part of the dish (pesto stuffed Mushroom) I though I wouldn't eat was delicious, but the rest of the big breakfast was pretty much uneatable. Slowly running out of places to eat in Rockingham I promised the missus that I wouldn't complain, so I suffered in silence. I then ordered a coffee, and when it arrived it was weak and obviously made with trim milk! I'm not on a diet, I never asked for skim milk, I enjoy the full cream fatty flavor in my coffee! And to put it bluntly, the coffee was terrible.

I'm surprised the girl that cleared the table didn't ask if everything was OK with the meals and coffee, cause she saw I barely touched the coffee I push towards her to remove away from me as fast as possible and the big breakfast was still... BIG! Get a clue!

Best Breakfast Cafe in WA. Food is amazing and coffee is great. Big breakfast is amazing (see photos) also love gluten free salty chocolate cake & royal blue fries.
Love this place

Lovely Meal. Had one of the best meals at Kent St Deli on Saturday night. Had the 3 course set menu and would highly recommend to anyone who appreciates good food. Beautifully cooked prawns, tender pork belly and a mango souffle to die for. My friend had a divine mushroom filo entree, sumptuous lamb shanks and a sexy crème brulee. I don't think you could get a better meal anywhere in WA for only $55.00. (for 3 courses) Be there Saturday night or miss out as this is the only night it's open for dinner. It's a pity as I would eat there every night.

Where gourmet and fresh quality produce meet and make great friends. Kent st deli is Rockinghams best kept SECRET.
It's humble appearance compliments the honest, fresh and comforting food.
Must try: Full breakfast, Brookfarm musli, health juices, ksd pancakes and last but not least ... The coffee !
I will happy drive a thirty minute round trip to enjoy the best coffee in town, smooth, rich and hot NOT burnt.
This is a popular place amongst locals so avoid peak periods so you can get a great seat in the sun. Bon Appepit!

Little bit of Melbourne in Rocko. I love this place. I've only eaten lunches here and enjoyed their coffee but it's always been superb, friendly and has a real buzz.
I did go yesterday with my wife and she was a bit disappointed with the gluten free bread roasted vegetable and hummus sandwich...it was the bread you buy in Coles that comes in plastic and it was soggy inside and didn't look very appetising...not sure if they'd run out of any decent GF bread or if they use this stuff all the time.
Coffee, service and my wrap however were amazing.
Going to try dinner here soon. It is the only place to go locally for a coffee and a sausage roll though.

Atrocious service. The two people serving are some of the worst I've experienced in Perth, lazy, no knowledge of the food available and seem to take pleasure out of making it as difficult as possible to get something as simple as a burger from the menu. Also, take no notice of the opening times, it seems they only open if the kitchen can be bothered. This place has gone downhill in a big way, such a pity, as it used to be a real standout in the Rocko scene.

Absolutely atrocious service, went with two others for breakfast. We all ordered at the same time . What a mess!!

Picnic Hamper.. We got a Picnic hamper from Kent St Deli for the wife's birthday. Can't rate it any higher. So much food. Everything was terrific. The pate and the chicken and leek pie were standouts. They have thought of everything. Just add a nice bottle of wine and away you go. We ordered servings for three people and it feed a family of four with loads of goodies to bring home. The lady that took my order was so full of excitement and enthusiasm for their products and rightfully so. Can't wait for the next chance to order again.

I have had lunch at the Deli and wasn't sure how a great lunch venue would translate for dinner. Gary, Tony, Teresa and I just had dinner at Kent St Deli and it was fabulous. $44 for two courses, Gary had Baldivis rabbit terrine and Lamb Shanks, I had mushroom entree which was delicious!!!! We shared three desserts between four of as, all beautiful! Service was great. I don't understand why the Urban Spoon review is 68% - I think this deserves at at least 85%, probably 90-95%. We'll be back!

Gave the Saturday Bistro a try and enjoyed it. Location makes it interesting but it was still really nice. Service was good and food was nice

Yummm. I went here for the first time last week and was very happy with the food. homemade baked beans and hash browns! !! good to see a cafe in Rockingham making their own beans and hash browns. eggs were perfect, price was very reasonable and the coffee was great. Will definitely be back.

Terrible slow service. Meals were not nicely presented and some parts were cold. Cutlery given to us was dirty with left of food on each peice

Usually a favorite of my partner and I to eat at. However our last visit we were both very disappointed, the burger was over cooked and the bacon and the bun were burnt. The toast on the blt was overcooked, so hard to eat. When you order a 'iced drink' you don't expect it to be warm!!!! Really disappointed.

Best little deli. We have eaten big breakfast all over Rockingham and have declared Kent St Deli the best by far. $18.50 gets you 2 eggs, lashings of Bacon, a sausage, roasted tomato, baked beans, field mushrooms with roasted ricotta and pesto and a slice of yummy bread, great value. Friendly staff, delicious food and very relaxed atmosphere. Kent Street Deli have a range of items for sale and the best stocked cold cabinet i have seen full of home made goodies. Give them a try.

Great brunch.. We sat outside and enjoyed brunch late on a sunny winters morning.
Service was friendly and the food was excellent. We saw other meals going out that make us want to come back and try more.
Coffees were good too.
There's a lot to like about KSD, as they call themselves, so we'll be back.
It's busy, so it seems like many others have found the joys of this place.
With Shannon (also of Rustico) making good food in the kitchen it's no surprise.
Give KSD a try.

Shocking service.. I know its a deli not a restaurant but come on get some manners. I have been there twice and both times left shocked at the rudeness of the staff behind the till. It's a shame because they have some great produce for sale but I won't be back for third time lucky.

Quite good !. We enjoyed our chai lattes, but at $5.50 each, they're not cheap ! We also ordered the Yallingup fruit toast, which I always buy on my visits down South but unfortunately it was served rather stale, you know when you eat stale toast & by the time you're half way through it's rock hard around the edges, well that's what we got, which is disappointing ! And the fruit toast was served with margarine & plain old jam, not a beautiful homemade jam ! This place really has potential, I just hope they can get it right. The girl who takes the orders could be a tad friendlier but otherwise the staff seem really great. We ordered juices & a pumpkin scone on another visit & that was very nice.

Kent Street Deli is great! Really good to have some wholesome and healthy options in the area!

Had a great club sandwich at KSD and a good coffee.
But they slugged us $4 for a 300 mil coke which was just handed to us, no glass or ice. That took the shine off things. Why do WA restaurants so blatantly rip us off?

Thanks you for the lovely platers that you provided for me. Every body commented how good the food was.

Will recommend your deli to every one

Dome vs KSD. Knocks Dome out in a first round TKO. Really nice food and drinks, friendly service and an eclectic mix of alfresco seating and random cutlery. Have had breakfast twice here and yet to be let down. OK they don't have the choice of Dome or the Merchant but at least the food here is fresh and tasty. Big breakfast came with pesto tomatoes, home made potato cake and all the works. Eggs benedict 5 star - yum.

Beautiful food & a great selection of gourmet food & coffee. Not very kid friendly unfortunately.

Hmmm.... Heard a lot of good things about this place: good coffee, good selection of "gourmet" stuff. I have to say I was pretty disappointed.

The staff on the day I visited clearly lacked knowledge about the product(s) they are selling & some of the labels on the homemade stuff were spelt incorrectly, not to mention the bread from "Yellingup" (Yallingup perchance? ;0) ).

If you're serious about good cooking and are looking for something different this place disappoints. There is a distinct lack of the harder to find ingredients and little in the way of inspiration.

I also have to say the service was also a bit surly, bordering on rude (sorry ladies).

I had a coffee, burned & bitter; I passed on the sandwiches...the best part of $10 seems excessive for two slices of white bread, served in a plastic container.

Some interesting stuff on the shelves, but a bit confused...whats with the tea pots and cups? It reminded me of a gift shop on the Costa Del Sol, peddling tat to sunburned Brits.

The heat in the place was unbearable. Should you choose to sit outside you get a really good view of a Strip club and....Kent Street.

For the prices they charge you'd be better off heading for the Dome Cafe, a few metres up the strip.

If you fancy a drive to Mandurah, try Taste and Graze - good coffee's and nosh, served up by Melbournian's who know a thing or two about good service and manners.

If its inspired ingredients, herbs, spices etc. you're after, make tracks for Kakula's(Northbridge or Freo), Oriental Spices (Mandurah), Rumps (Meadow Springs) &/or Simon Johnson's (Subiaco).

The Kent Street "Deli" falls well short of what you'd expect from a European or Stateside Deli.

I won't be back.

Kent St Deli. Wandered in for breakfast and thorughly enjoyed it. We had the Eggs Benno and a Pancake and Icecream Stack. :-)

Will be back soon to try some of the Lunch dishes.

They have a great range of cheeses, cold meats and a gourmet deli section selling prepared meals to take away and a good range of sauces, pickles, gifts etc.

Cheers, Beachbums

Whilst the truffle popcorn was obviously my favourite, some other addictive bites included the marron and truffle stuffed potatoes, Kent Street Deli’s fall apart beef cheeks with truffle mash and Pata Negra’s lusciously smooth pate. I was impressed that David Coomer’s wife was kind enough to bring gluten free crackers to the festival to accompany the pate for those Coeliacs in need!
