Review Palm Beach Cafe - Rockingham

Gloria
We highly recommend this place for its views large meals and their $5 beer and wines....a family owned Cafe. A very popular place for my of the locals especially during summer as the beach views and relaxed atmosphere is beautiful. We are regulars our selves.

Great place right on the boardwalk. The view of the ocean with the yachts floating by is exquisite. Nice relaxed atmosphere, cafe style with plastic chairs and tables, order at the counter. The serving sizes are very generous and the food tasty. Seafood was fresh as you’d expect next to the ocean. Maybe a little pricier than similarly styled places but you’re paying for that view! The staff were all lovely and were able to accommodate our very elderly grandfather. On a perfect day, watching the sunset, where else would you want to be?

Birthday coffee with my friends. Best carrot cake I've eaten for a while, coffee good, view- out of this world.

Smallest coffee I've ever paid for and only one size option. Iced Chocolate ended up in the bin as it wasn't drinkable, tasted like vanilla icecream blended in milk, no chocolate whatsoever. Chips tasted good but overpriced at $10 a serve. Service wasn't great either, ordered takeaway and wasn't told it was ready, stood around for over 10 minutes only to get asked what we were waiting for. To have them point to a busy desk full of stuff that had our food already waiting on it for God knows how long. Won't be coming here again.

Lee & Tony who own the place are genuine nice people that make you feel welcome. You can go anywhere along the strip but you can't beat the Palm Beach Cafe for the breathtaking views of the beach. Good Food and Good Drink Prices!

We have Been going here for more than 15 years.. I'm hoping they read this and think that $5 drinks is a hit!! How about dividing your backyard so we can't hear trolleys and see cartons of beer near the toilet area. Well you need to upgrade your seats and tables because I have a bad back, your staff could do with a shave and a haircut and clean clothes, overall there's no table service you have to order at the counter and no water when you sit down given to you. We are not paying $4.50 for water out of a tap which should be free anywhere you go thought this was mandatory. We ordered a main meal, I was gobsmacked when I got my meal thinking that you get what you pay for I was wrong. Sorry but looks like lost your valid customers..

How can you beat that view Food was great, the drinks and food here reasonably priced. The only disappointment was after both of us enjoying 2 glasses of crouching reisling each the third glass definitely didn't taste the same. When we enquired about it we were told that the third drink came out of the same bottle 🤔

Went for lunch today. Glass of bubbly was flat. One meal was brought out and took 15 minutes for second one to arrive. No dressing on Caesar salad. Very dry. Very disappointing for the price! Was not cheap.

Beautiful location... and that’s it. Staff ok, had 2 flat whites - first was lukewarm, second super hot. “Mango” milkshake tasted like vanilla with the very slightest hint of mango essence. Perhaps we were charged incorrectly - but $10 for a small dessert bowl of hot chips (generic frozen chips too, nothing special) was an absolute rip off. This place must only stay in business because of the beautiful views.

The fact that the owner operators of this cafe can stay in business for so long is absolute proof that a top location with a great view will compensate for atrocious service from rude staff every time ... and especially in Rockingham.

The location is the only thing going for this place. It could be amazing! Unfortunately, it really isn't any good. I ordered poached eggs on toast with a side of mushrooms and a skim latte. My sister's hashbrowns were chucked on my plate so I was a bit confused that it was what I ordered. I had asked for the poached eggs well done - one was and the other was super runny. The mushrooms were really oily and there wasn't many either (considering it was $3.50 to add them). The latte was not warm enough.

Went for Sunday morning coffee with friends from UK.View excellent.Service good. Coffee lousy.Flat white should be called "Warm milk with a slight hint of coffee.

Disgusting.
Really disappointed with this cafe. Been there for a few times and my experience was terrible. One time i got overcooked poached eggs and soy latte which didn't taste like soy at all (i just assume that they ignored my request), next time found a few hair in pancakes😖 never ever coming back

Won't be returning.. Decided to go here for lunch, at around 12pm, so just the beginning of the lunch menu. A few of the dishes we requested we were told they had run out of, which happened to be all of the vegetarian/vegan meals, so my friend ordered a steak burger, but without the steak, or egg, which were listed along with caramelized onion, barbecue sauce and salad as the ingredients of the burger. But when it had arrived, it had melted cheese in the burger, which was not listed on the menu as an ingredient, and my friend can not eat. As well as that mistake, it was missing caramelized onion and barbecue sauce. My friend informed the waiter, which she took it away, and moments later the chef brought it back, and said it doesn't have any caramelized onion, because they had run out, quite rudely. And then when my friend told her again that she can not have cheese, she looked very annoyed and snatched it away, and could be heard arguing in the kitchen about how annoyed she was. Which really made the experience worse. Eventually they had 'fixed' the problem, in which it looked as if they had just cut the cheese out of the bun, and poured in a bunch of barbecue sauce, without any apology, and we still paid full price for what ended up being a soggy roll with vegetables, which they had tried to fix by pouring barbecue sauce into it. If deciding which cafe to go to, you're best to give one of the ones on either side a try, as I can tell you this one is poorly run.

Absolutely disgusted that a mother and her disabled son were turned away as he was in a wheelchair. Anyone who believes in human rights may want to eat elsewhere.

Kid friendly!!!. I just read a post on Facebook. A lady went to this cafe with her friend & her disabled son. A lady behind the counter said she didn't want the wheelchair inside the cafe. So, kid friendly but obviously not disabled kid friendly!!! Shame on you.

Crap. Food is awful, Tony the owner is rude and unhelpful- dont waste your time or money on this dump.

AWFUL SERVICE. Stopped in palm beach cafe to have a takeaway chai latte. I asked why it came to $10, they charged $1 a cup each for a take-away. the lady by the til the said with attitude "YOU DONT HAVE TO GET IT". After 10 miutes waiting my chai latte came back like hot milk, i asked for some more chai and the barrister grabbed the chai latte of me did something, then handed back. it still tasted like hot mil so i ask the barrister again to put more chai. he responded with "NO", grabbed my drink out my hands and through the money on the counter. he then said "I AM NOT HELPING YOU, LEAVE".
I was digusted!

Stopped by today after a lovely walk... They had a sign out the front stating over 22 beers on offer for $5 each... So We had to stop and try out their hospitality and very much enjoyed the view... Great value here... Very enjoyable all round....

Adverse to small children and coeliacs. Terrible experience on a Saturday mid morning. Only thing going for this place is the view. Owner is rude, staff sweet but intimidated by owner. As we were leaving the old lady in charge told us we weren't welcome back. I had previously asked if the chips were gluten free but the lady didn't know or care (maybe this somehow offended her). Taken aback we questioned why only to be informed that we sat at a table for 10 ppl (table could only sit 6, which we were placed at by waitress - we were 3 adults and three children??) Don't waste your time going here, so many other cafe's along here all with the same view, tastier food and way better service.

Returned here on Saturday with rellies from over East and the UK. Nine of us ate at lunch time. Again, EVERYTHING was perfect. Excellent value for money, large portions, superbly cooked and presented and the wait staff were great. Food arrived quickly. The tables and chairs are functional and it's not posh but the views have the wow factor. I
love this place. Well done.

-----28 Apr, 2013-----

Brilliant lunch on a busy Sunday. Excellent fish and chips, great salad with light dressing, superb chips. Everything well cooked and presented by happy waitress. Bloody lovely.

Good value and a lovely meal! I had the salt and pepper squid with Caesar, my friend had garlic prawns with Cous cous. $20 each with a bevi! Really nice, good service, magnif ocean view

Beautiful location. Very average food & service.

Best place on the beachfront!. Really good food, can't beat the $20 lunch deal - main meal and a drink (cider for me please!). The fish and chips today was delicious, massive serving. The place always seems to be busy, and no wonder - I've gone to all the other cafes on the strip and none of them were as friendly (or wallet friendly... cider and beer for $5??? awesome!). Sure as hell can't beat the view either! :)
Rachael
Lovely. The place seemed empty compared to all the other cafes, but not complaining! Lovely sea view and nice fresh lunch. had the lunch specials- choose from 18 meals and come with a drink (including wines and beers). Steak sandwich = good, parmigiana = good, garlic prawns with 2 salads = AMAZING. They were also kind enough to do the chicken parmi without crumbs so it was gluten free. Definitely recommend for a relaxing lunch.

Great settings shame about the food we got I ask for eggs holl and the bf asked for big breakfast hard fried eggs. With that we got one coffee and one shake. $32. The eggs on the big breakfast where runny to the point that the whites of the eggs was runny as well the eggs on the eggs holl where hard the bread wasn't fresh. And my bf got whole meal toast on his instead of white like all normal places serve. His coffee was milky and my shake had lumps of ice all the way though it. Don't waste your money going there. Not even for a coffee.

Highly Recommended. We've returned here a few times and every time they've been very welcoming and friendly towards our young children. The food is good every time and the waitresses are always very nice and do a great job. Also love the beautiful beach setting.

Great. Had many lunches here now and we always get good, fast service with a smile. Had the burger and fish and chips today and again very good. Coffee and mochas are good too. Thank you :)

Popped in for brunch this morning. Very friendly and attentive staff, service was very prompt even though the place was half full and only 2 floor staff. Lovely coffee, I had the eggs Benedict, was spot on. My friend had the breakfast special and there was no problem swapping items (tomato out, mushrooms in). Lovely view. Generous portions.

Loved it!. Went here a few weeks back and it was absolutely delightful!
Staff were friendly and the food was wonderful.

Thumbs up!. Great view! Love the food and the prices. Breakfast is great value.
FullStop Yum Yum
Heard they used 5 sense coffee... Shame the person making it destroyed it... Why cant I get a good coffee in Rockingham... Beautiful foreshore but milky ordinary coffee.

Nice change. Visiting palm beach cafe it had a nice family cafe sort of feel.
The prices are competitive without skimping on quality. While the service can be a bit slow during busy times this does just seem to be due to a lack of front of house staff, but i am sure this problem will be fixed.
What i liked about it was even though my food took a long time to come out i was offered a free five senses coffee while waiting and this was a nice touch as other places would just leave me to wait.
I went for lunch and had there $20 special, which is a choice of anything on there menu except the 2 dishes over 20 with a choice of any of the beers, wine, coffee or soft drink.
In summery the service was nice, five sense coffee one of the best i have had (even had a nice tulip) and for $20 can't really fault the food and drink special.
it would be nice however if they got more staff as it clearly hurts the waiting time.

This wasn’t a cheap breakfast – just under $25 including the coffee – and I was very disappointed. I’ve had some rough breakfasts but I don’t remember anywhere else where I’ve come away with an overwhelming taste of salt in my mouth. There are plenty of places to eat in the area and much better value is close by, so I’d suggest leaving the view to the tourists and giving this one a miss – at least for breakfast anyway.
