Review Rockingham Village Chinese Restaurant - Rockingham

Don Paterson
I'm pretty much done with these Chinese places in Rockingham. This one isn't the only one. I'm sure the dishes are made days or more in advance. Then zapped in the microwave or tipped into a wok to heat and serve. Nothing tastes fresh, the fried rice is most evident of that. When one orders a chilli beef and fried rice and 3 mins later it's packed ready to go. It's obviously not prepared fresh and it tastes like it.

I went during lunch on a Monday, the lady serving me was lovely, remembered our order without writing it down aswell as the other tables around us but still mangaed to get our order correct, our food was a lil oily but otherwise delicious

First time ordering thru the phone from this restaurant, food came quick and was hot. The lady delivering the food was friendly

First time ordering from these guys and half the order was missing (managed to get a refund through UberEats but would have rather had my food). However, the quality of the food we did receive was great.

Probably the best Chinese restaurant in the area.Very friendly staff where nothing is too much trouble. Great selection of food at fair prices, going to make it a regular place to meet and dine.

A group of 8 of us had dinner here tonight, my food was very salty, but overall the food was cooked fresh . The staff are friendly, and helpful.

We had two takeaway lunches, and they were both great. The service staff spoke English, had manners and the food was available on time. Hot and fresh. A nice experience.

This restaurant has not changed since I was a child and is still a dependable family Chinese restaurant. It's good, classic suburban Chinese and yes they still do the carved carrots.

First time trying this Chinese, have been to a few in rockingham and this is the only one ill come back to. It was so yummy, the meat were all nice pieces and everything we ordered tasted great and I will never go to a different Chinese in rockingham again it's my new favorite.

We had a function of around 30 people at this restaurant last night on Sat 19th of March from the Fremantle Sailing Club and all I can say is WOW. We had the banquet which was 7 different meals for everyone to enjoy.

I would have to say that everyone from the club thoroughly enjoyed their meals, and by meal 4 I think I was stuffed already.

It cost us $38 per head, great food, great company and the food never stopped coming, I was hoping it was going to stop at some time, but no, it kept coming.

Thank you to the team at Rockingham Village Chinese Restaurant, and I would gladly book with you guys again on our next trip.

Graham Selden - Power Section Captain
Fremantle Sailing Club

Have driven past Rockingham Village many times but had yet to try it. The outside always seems to be packed with cars so I wanted to see what it was all about, and I’m glad I did because RV has many great things about it. The atmosphere is adaptable to lunch or dinner with the large windows which let the light in during the day or the classy look for a date night with the tablecloths and cloth napkins. I went during the day time where they had lunch specials available which are individual dishes with both meat and rice. It seemed lots of other people were having the specials too, and they all looked so delicious it made it hard to choose. However, I ended up eating satay beef – my old favourite. My partner had the Szechuan beef as it was recommended to us and we both love spicy food. These sound boring but they came out quick and were totally delicious. We were given nice cold filtered water to go with our meal and this complemented our spicy meals very well. It’s a shame I took so long to come and try this place, because I’ll definitely be coming back here to try their other dishes.

WORST service, BAD chefs, AWFUL management!!!!

My husband and I ordered salt and pepper squid, Mongolian lamb, special fried rice and stemmed rice. Pick up.

We received a small portion (about 8 pieces) of OVER COOKED squid, squished in a plastic container on a piece of soggy and wilted lettuce. NO SIDES JUST SQUID for $22! Another very small portion of Mongolian lamb , just the lamb for $25! NO FRIED RICE was packed only some noodles and of course the steamed rice (they got on thing right).

When i released i hadn't received the fried rice i ordered and bit into the cold, soggy, chewy piece of squid I gave them a call. Nicole answered i told her my problems, after an odd silence i said could i get a refund or something for my squid and fried rice. She said yes but i would have to drive all the way back down there to prove it. I said i would like a full refund for my order if i am coming all the way back down. Nicole said that was ok.

So I arrive with the food and the so call "manager" at the time, Jong, told me i would not get a full refund as all the Mongolian lamb was eaten, and also informed that they could have cooked fresh meal and delivered to us.........................WHY DIDNT ANYONE TELL ME THAT BEFORE!!!. So i argued the point of there mistakes, over cooked food, wrong order, bad phone service and my inconvenience of time money they still refused. Once the owner returned he was angry yelling "This is how we do it" (I think?) slamming the money on the counter. Unbelievable costumer service, they didn't even offer anything as a "sorry" for there mistakes.

I DO NOT RECOMMENED ROCKINGHAM VILLAGE CHINESE RESTAURANT TO ANYONE.

Had a great feed. Ordered takeaway tonight was told it would be delivered in 45mins was here in 30mins. Altho I think $64 is a little pricey for 2 people takeaway it was delivered early and the food was hot , fresh & delish's. Enjoyably, thankyou!

I found the decor and inside needs a makeover. Found the food to be overpriced and pretty average.

Old place needs money spent on furniture
Average food
Mcneill
Mcneill. Worst honey chicken I have ever had, straight from the bain marie, 4 minutes after I placed the order. Dry, very bland, honey sauce had no flavour and tastes watery. Large portion but who wants a large serve of yuck?

The best Chinese in Rockingham. Price is affordable cause it brings out big portion so you can share with others or doggy bag it if you have left over without any charges!!! SZECHUAN BEEF & SIZZLING GARLIC PRAWNS are my favourite, and there's quite a lot of dishes that amazed me!!! You would want to go back again!!! I will definitely go back again

We reluctantly came here for a friends birthday dinner last month. We have an ultimate favourite chinese we love already so i was sure thus one wouldnt top it. Sadly i was right. The service was attrocious! We had to ask several times for the wait staff to bring drinks which we had brought ourselves being BYO...the food we ordered for our table to share came out at all different times - the rice not being served until the 3rd dish had been brought out go figure. The wait staff hardly spoke english and laughed off our complaints and looked dumbfounded when asked why we still had not been served our drinks yet would disappear and not return. The table next to us must have been regular customers as they received fast efficient service yet arrived after us. They were even given chocolates with their bill. The food was ok but i have deffinately eaten better chinese. We will never be eating there again thats for sure!

Great local eats. I have been dining here for a number of years and they never fail me. Last night i took my partner and he was impressed with the friendly staff and great food and even more so by the young waitress who took our order and didnt write it down and who remembered all 5 dishes we ordered. Highly recommend this place.

Absolutely disgusting!!! Don't order takeaway here!! Had the plum duck & lemon chicken. The duck was deep fried in a thick batter which tasted like it was left over and reheated in microwave!! All our meals where cold total waste of $52!! Disgusted

Ribs are amazing!!

We have been here many times now and truly believe that there is 2 chefs. If you get the "A" chef you'll enjoy some of the best food in WA. If you get the "B" chef you'll get the best food on Thorpe st Rockingham. Good luck

Trying to find a decent Chinese restaurant in the area and still looking! Had take away Special Fried Rice (floury and hardly special), Satay Chicken (tasted like a jar of peanut butter), Sweet & Sour Chicken (bit dry but not too bad) and Chicken Omlette (battered!!). Restaurant was full - clearly they have never tasted Jade Flowers in Wembley.

Our favourite. Our favourite Chinese restaurant. Always quick service even when they are very busy. Love the Szechuan beef. The duck with plum sauce is very good. Would recommend ordering a dish of mixed vegetables as well as the meat dishes do not generally come with vegetables.

Too lovely!. Been going here ever since i can remember and is still my favourite Chinese restaurant in Rockingham. Great food and service, atmosphere is ok. A bit pricey but definitely worth it!!
Beef with vegetables and combination omelette are my fav dishes from here.

Quick service for takeaway. Honey prawn delightful, lemon chicken just as good and not oily. Fried rice one of the best I have had. Pity about cost, almost worth the price though.

Best chilli king prawns but all other meals are great too. Has not changed in the 15 years we have been going there, hope it never does!!

What an utter joke.... Ordered a meal for the family to be delivered - an hour and a half later, still no sign of the promised meal. Wont be ordering from this shower again. Utter Crap.

Best chinese in rockingham!!. This restaurant has been open for over 25 years and has established a great reputation among diners. It is catered more towards a westerners style of taste rather than authentic asian as Rockingham does not have a large asian population. Their food however, still tastes amazing!
Although pricier than most asian restaurants, it makes up for this as it is also classier (neater presentation of food, use of tableclothes and cloth napkins as opposed to paper). It is still very competitive in price compared to other western style restaurants. You may pay $25-$35 a meal at Rockingham Village, but at least you will walk away full!! Their serving sizes are very respectable and there are very little additional charges (such as credit card fees, corkage etc). A couple of the waiters/waitresses speak english as a second language so some people may be put off, but they do get the job done and are likeable if a little patience is offered due to the language barrier.
Foods to try are satay beef, szechuan beef, duck in plum sauce, any garlic dish and the malay curry chicken. Some of these may be spicy but you can ask for mild if you cannot handle spicy.
This restaurant does get quite busy on weekends (sometimes with a full house AND lots of takeaways) so service may drop and the time it takes food to come out may be longer, so people should bear this in mind when going on a busy day. Booking in advance is also advisable.
