The duck is fantastic. A tiny bit pricy for Vietnamese but delicious. They were so happy to also remove the noodles out of the rice paper rolls to create a gluten free option as they make them fresh to order.
Pho could of used more volume of sides / veggies + larger in size but the broth is absolutely delicious.
Defiantly coming back
Also partner has an egg nut and dairy allergy so could accommodate all of them !
Delicious Vietnamese food. A lot of gluten free options too which is unreal! Pricier than other Vietnamese places but this is more Vietnamese fusion, and is unbelievably fresh. A fabulous addition to the neighbourhood!
I have never written a review before but felt compelled to do so after my husband bought Mister Nguyen take-away for my birthday dinner last night. WOW!! I can honestly say that I loved it all! Beautiful flavours and wonderfully fresh! Even the take-away presentation was amazing. Such a high standard. Can't wait to visit the restaurant in person...my new favourite!
What the Pho ... $12.50?
Lunch deal ... modern twist of the classic Bun - Vermicelli with braised Five Spice Pork (devine) instead of the usual grilled Pork ... miggles well with the Fish sauce, easily 10/10 for $13.90.
It comes with a drink - Vietnamese Iced Coffee was a tad ordinary ... 6/10 for $4.30.
How fresh and modern is this newly established Vietnamese food heaven ... must come back again to try the rest ... not just Pho. JT-21/02/2018.
Lovely lovely food!! Honestly, didn’t have high expectations because modern Asian Vietnamese fusion food is very hard to please because we know how great traditional dishes taste like but flavours and ingredients all complimented each other. The right amount of sweet, salty and savoury flavours on the barramundi and beef salad. The spring rolls was ok... although it’s quite affordable, there were some dishes that seemed pricy eg.) sugar cane prawn for 2 servings were quite pricey although would have been interesting to try. The staff was exceptionally friendly and loved the level of service they delivered. Good job!!!

First time coming here. Had the vermicelli salad bowl with tofu. Really nice and loved that it was vegan. Service was good also. Would definitely come back :)
Such a gorgeous new set up in Rosanna. With light flowing through and great colourful portraits it set a fantastic scene for a lunch feast.
We started with the traditional Vietnamese Iced Coffee as we slowly checked out our menu.
It is basically meals to share and you mark the meals and sauces you would like ordered as meals to 'share'.
We started with the beef Rice Paper Rolls “GỎI CUỐN”. This consisted of vermicelli noodles, pickled carrot, mint, coriander served with hoisin sauce. This was followed with the steamed Bao Buns with our favourite fillings the five-spice Pork w/ Red Chili. The pork was nice and tender and the Chili had enough kick for me.
Our host also suggested we try the Sugarcane Prawn with hoisin sauce which was also so nice and refreshing so this was a fantastic light and healthy start to our meal.
This was followed by the Pan fried beef oyster sauce, soy with vermacelli and Chargrilled Scotch Fillet Steak Marinated w/ Lemongrass And Served w/ Crispy Wontons and Green Papaya Salad, Mixed Nuts And Sesame Crackers. This was a great sharing dish and the scotch fillet was melt in your mouth.
This was also washed this down with crisp and refreshing mocktails the Sunny Saigon - Orange, pineapple, carrot, ginger & cinnamon and Happy Hanoi - cucumber, honeydew, lemon, turmeric & lemongrass
We were now very full and ready to roll out however our host highly recommended that we share the Banana, Tapioca Pearl Pudding w/ Coconut Yogurt And Cinnamon Crumble. So glad she did as it was so delicious.
Highly recommend this restaurant especially on those hot days and you are seeking a light but very filling meal. Thanks for the invitation.
Finally a Vietnamese eatery in the North Eastern suburbs!! @misternguyenmelb delivers authentic asian flavours with a contemporary twist as seen by the beef pho, 5 spiced pork vermicelli bowl and crispy chicken wings! Craving for some Viet near Rosanna? This is definitely the place to be!
Had a ok experience service wise , we ordered the soft shell crab bao , pulled pork bao , crab salad and the fried calamari all for sharing .
Had the orange ginger juice and the Vietnamese iced coffee both delicious
All was great , would defiantly be back for the food service needs a little bit of work.
Lovely! Service was great! I have a bunch of dietary restrictions and they went through the menu with me to see what could be sorted out. Delicious!
When you walk through the doors of Mister Nguyen you are greeted with a colourful and clean interior and friendly staff.
The menu is very cute, and you tick off what you want before handing the menu back to the waiteress. The food absolutely does not disappoint either. Fresh, tasty and filling!
Mister Nguyen is a newly established Vietnamese eatery that offers patrons a taste of both authentic and traditional Vietnamese cuisine, as well as a more modern interpretation on Vietnamese flavours and concepts.
No matter which style of cooking you prefer, all the dishes we sampled today were not only beautifully presented, but also impeccably executed. For those looking to satisfy their Vietnamese cravings, Mister Nguyen should definitely not be missed.
I haven’t had Vietnamese food in awhile so I was delighted to be invited to Mr Nguyen last night. I was struck by the very modern interior with bright vibrant colours and a cool tiled bench set up in the centre of the space with cascading greenery from the top of the structure. Gorgeous. As I explored further I also found a beautifully styled function room at the back of the venue. Great care has been taken with the fit out here.
We started with a couple of cocktails and I enjoyed a Saigon Sling which was obviously a take on the famous Singapore Sling as well as the Green Tea Mojito. These cocktails are not for the faint hearted as they pack a serious alcoholic punch which is great value given they are only $16. Later we tried the southern peach flower and the cucumber cosmopolitan which was a Kermit shade of green. I love that they took a twist on some of these traditional cocktails and made them unique.
Food wise we began with the prawn rice paper rolls. Basically you are handed a menu and a (branded) pencil to write the number of each dishes you want next to the menu item. It’s very fuss free but in our hungry haste to eat we didn’t realise we were also supposed to circle our preference for accompanying dipping sauce. It would have been good if someone had come to ask us but we very much enjoyed the default sauces regardless.
We then tried the veggie spring rolls which presented beautifully and I loved the fresh mint to roll them up with. The hoisin was also delicious. Next up was the salt and pepper squid. This was quite a different way to serve it as generally it comes with a lemon or lime wedge and bits of chilli but this had diced capsicum and no citrus. Either way it was very tender and I was already pretty impressed given the restaurant had been opened a mere two months.
Next the chargrilled scotch fillet steak with lemongrass which was beautifully cooked and topped with fresh herbs. There was also the added texture from the crunchy wontons which I was loving but it was slightly too salty for my taste.
The braised lamb shoulder was next and echoed the theme of previous dishes with more great flavours and rich sauces. I almost couldn’t believe this husband and wife team who are clearly so passionate about food have only just recently abandoned their careers as engineer to try their hand at hospitality. While it’s a tough industry I think they are going to do very well! We finished up with the chicken vermicelli before diving into my favourite part, dessert.
Here we have a bit of a mix of East and West. While it’s not exactly an authentic Vietnamese dessert I adored the decadent chocolate brownie. We also sampled the Mekong delta cake which I frankly just liked the name of and had no idea what to expect from. This was a bit of a surprise star and well conceptualised dish. The crunch of the candied orange worked perfectly with the creamy chocolate curls and smooth avocado custard all of which accompanied the cake which I learned was a base of mung beans. The cake itself had quite a unique texture in what was essentially a thoroughly enjoyable modern take on traditional flavours. The Vietnamese iced coffee is also a must try and experience in itself
Visited Mr N during opening week. Great to finally see this type of offer in Rosanna, has the potential to be great! Had the chicken wings (yum) and Vietnamese salad. Unfortunately the latter didn't come with the authentic nuoc cham sauce we know and love with this salad, and I had to ask for extra fish sauce to try and add some more flavour. Would be great if you could add this into the dish please!
Loved this place this is exactly what Rosanna needed
Food was amazing
I had spring rolls and chicken curry to share
Definetly be back for a second time!!!!!!
Mister Nguyen is a vibrant and cheerful Vietnamese eatery located in Rosanna. Food here is a delicious fusion of traditional Vietnamese cuisine and modern flavours. Lots of options to choose from ranging from the basic rice paper rolls to the more extravagant turmeric barramundi (a must try) so it can cater for all tastes. We had a delicious feast here and would recommend!
I visited mister Nguyen last weekend! I enjoyed it - the food was great, and the staff were really friendly. The price was also very reasonable. Rosanna / lower plenty road need a place like this! The road needs more places like this to reach its potential! Keep up the good work. Will definitely be back.
Points for effort and optimism that people will pay so much for what is half the price across the road (at a lesser quality, with half the packaging). Happy to support freshness and quality, but price still needs to be fair. I hope this new place will tweak its offerings soon.
Finally! An addition to a suburb that has really no other dining options. I was very impressed with the service for a busy Tuesday lunchtime. The lady who looked after us was under the pump. Only criticism on that regard is possibly have an extra on the floor to help cover. A new place that will gain attraction out of curiosity in the first 6 months need to have staff to tend to peoples needs. When the product is good you need to have people in place to help capture your diners. There is no such thing as over staffing when you start the business as all hands on deck from the beginning help build cohesion and efficiency later on. That would be my only constructive criticsm. The food is fresh and full of flavour. The menu is quirky, modern and has some seriously good traditional vietnamese dishes. Looking forward to coming back and sampling some other dishes!
Love this place, the customer service was amazing! The food was so delicious, especially the barramundi! Definitely worth trying! Colourful fun atmosphere :) 🌈
I stumbled across this place just this evening. Wonderful Vietnamese food, lovely service, fun decor. I'm excited for a great place like this to be my new local restaurant and looking forward to coming back to try new menu options. The magic mushroom dish was delicious!
The food is fresh and absolutely delicious. Much better than your average Vietnamese restaurant. The staff are also really friendly and went out of their way to find a high chair and toys for my 12 month old while we had lunch. Would recommend to anyone
Went there for dinner with my family and it was a great dining experience. The taste was spot on! The grilled duck is a killer, along with Ha Noi style baramundi is to die for. Definitely must try the brownie for dessert! The staff was helpful and very nice to deal with.
We enjoyed the food very much. No it isn’t Fitzroy, but ambience is not a concern. The restaurant is very clean and has a very novel colour scheme and Decore. Service was very helpful, but not intrusive. We will return.
Quite a long wait time for the food, but honestly it's to be expected in new business that's as busy as it is.
The food was absolutely delicious, expecially the Pho Bo which tasted very authentic.
We will be back soon, maybe when it's a little less busy!
The food at Mister Nguyen will leave you wanting more! So many good choices on offer and good value for money. The atmosphere is very cute and the staff were lovely. I'd visit it again in a heartbeat.
